Reviews (page 12 of 13)
Enjoyable.
Pretty wild, but "The Wildest"? I don't think so, bucko. Good background music, but this genre is nothing more than that for me.
Tellement wild
certainement divertissant
It's fun, but so old fashioned that it kept drifting into background noise for me. Nice, but not brilliant.
Clásico no me emociona mucho
A bit cute really
We need more standup bass in modern pop music.
At times I thought I was at the “Enchantment Under the Sea” dance. Decent enough to listen to
Fun to listen to.
I ain't got nobody es un temazo.
Fun.
fun
A bit fun, and old vocal jazz energy. It gets a little too cheeky for its own good at times, but still pretty fun and cool to listen to. Enjoyable.
Fun and one-of-a-kind. I wish it didn't sound so much like a novelty act. "Gigolo" is great, as is "Buona Sera" but I don't dig what he does to "Basin Street Blues" (which sounds just like "Gigolo" btw) and "Sleepytime" (which is meant to be soporific, editors, and certainly not to be hollered). Hard not to admire just how all-in he is here, and sure the band is tight and boisterous, but does it all have to be so jokey and schticky? Again, this is fun, but at best these are a few songs to know, not a record you must hear before dying (especially relative to the many, many other worthier jazz options not pictured here). 3.1 / 3.
Omg this guy did the Bare Necessities! Shame that wasn't on this album, but still really enjoyed it. Such upbeat and positive music - puts you in a good mood! Love the piano playing too.
Good clean fun!
A lot of fun
Dobiva 3 sam jer IIIII AINT GOT NOOOBOOOOOODY i Just A Giggolo Margot Robbie pjeva dok kolje ☺️
A bit old fashioned but was ok.
Great swing album although a little repetitive. Luis Prima's voice seems to be larger than life here. Sure there are some songs here that sounds almost identical but I'm not holding that against the album.
Maybe in the background at a family bbq . 50s slap stick and very cute .
Interesting album, a mix of jazz, jump blues and rock and roll, a little bit of scat with some shades of Louis Armstrong in there too. As much as I love jazz, I've never really been a fan of jazz vocalists, so this wasn't mind-blowing for me, but it was fun and would have had folk in the 50s up dancing.
Dad would have loved this one.
Finally nice jazz!
More jazz. I remembered to play it on actual speakers instead of headphones this time, which helped a lot; music intended for a very different listening experience than how I normally do it.
Enjoyed that and happily listened to it all day. Not sure I'd ever think to listen again mind...
Loved all the sax.
Saved Prior: None Off Rip: Just a Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody; (Nothing's Too Good) For My Baby; Oh, Marie; (I'll Be Glad When You're Dead) You Rascal You Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: Fun bouncy music. Cool that while everyone at the time was trying to homogenize themselves to fit into stereotypical White American culture, he normalized publicly embracing his roots. Simple fun.
Hauskaa. Ehkä vähän yksipuolista, mutta kyllä tän 30min kantoi.
Hauska levy!
"an innovative mixture of early rock and roll, jump blues and jazz as well as eccentric humor"
It bangs but never varies. Mad respect for being the voice of King Louis though.
Harmless fun
Kind of cool mix of genres.
Has some well known songs and it was a quick listen. It was an alright album.
3/5 I’m torn. I enjoyed the sound, and some of the songs were really fun (laughed out loud at the split checks in “banana split for my baby”. That said, i was turned off by the aggressive racism in “the lip”, and felt like a lot of this didn’t age well.
Jazzy. Easy listening!
Super enjoyable
p27, 1956. 3 stars Light listening, "jumping jive", good fun. Have to be in the right mood for it though. You can see where Paolo Nutini stole from.
This was a fun album, but a little repetitive after a while. It was fun learning he was King Louie from the Jungle Book. I'm sure it was a blast to see him live at the Sahara. Favorite tracks: Just a Gigolo; Jump, Jive, An' Wail (an absolute classic, written by Prima); Night Train.
Old School big band era music. Van Halen really did a faithful copy of Gigolo.
Probably the least interesting type of jazz, but as swing goes this is pretty fucking good. Found myself listening to Just a Gigolo again the next morning like.
Lively, jazzy swing a pleasant listen
Det er okay. Men han synger godt!

They don't quite make albums that pop with live instrumentation like this one. Once I got over the weird lyrics I actually enjoyed this album. Probably not something I can see myself coming back to quickly though however.
Solid Swing
yeah im not gonna like this either am i
That'll put some hep in your step!
My Dad's era and musical style. Can't remember him mentioning him though.
5/10
This seemed pretty iconic of a certain genre/era but also a bit of a, I don't know, shtick? I don't think I'd just sit around listening to a whole album of this for pleasure.
Íkonísk rödd, skemmtileg plata.
Scat jazz type shit. Pretty good
goeie muziek maar doesn’t too much for me in terms of a lasting impression prolly just zoomer vibes
First album of the generator. Already familiar but a good start.
I like music from the 50s but this is just...boring. Not bad. Just inoffensive. And Prima sings one way and one way only. You could change the background music and it'll be the same song.
Van has covered Prima's 'bueno sera' in concert before and he is one of the names that he often reels off in his frequent nods towards his musical heritage. Its easy to see a prototype of Van's style here as Prima expertly uses his voice to drive the melody.
After the first 5 seconds you know exactly what you're gonna get for the rest of the album, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
The Wildest! by Louis Prima (1956) Sicilian jazz? Who knew? African American and Italian American cultural influences come together in New Orleans, then off to New York, and now settling into Las Vegas, synthesizing smiles all the way. Recorded at The Sahara, where vocalist/trumpeter Louis Prima, along with his wife, vocalist Keely Smith, and the band Sam Butera and the Witnesses performed numbers from their stage show (sans audience) giving it ‘live’ feel, without the live distractions. They produce a big band sound with a small ensemble. This is music that is foot tappingly raucous, sprinkled with Sicilian lyrical jokes, scat improvisations, and melodic references to pop and light classical tunes—seriously funny. There’s a wonderfully peppy and adept jazz trombone solo by James Blount, Jr. on “Body and Soul”. Other solo work (tenor sax, piano, trumpet) is more than competent. ‘’(I’ll Be Glad When You’re Dead) You Rascal You” Why? Because you eat all the ravioli and meatballs. This indignity justifies trumpet lip slides by Prima that rival Blount’s trombone work in a dueling horns WWF slingfest. Very, very nicely done. Save this one for a sad day after 5:00pm when someone has gravely disappointed you. Then play it loud. If you’re not giggling by the time you’re two shots in, seek professional help. 3/5
Good start but beat stays the same thru out
Hauskaa menoa
Letkeä rallattelu, joka toimi aamusta iltapäivään tunnelman kohottajana
Good album with a few very catchy tunes even if some are a bit repetitive
There’s a kitschy yet delicious Italian restaurant here. This album made me want to walk over there for a bite to eat. Would listen again.
This made me happy.
Fine as far as background music goes
Bom
Not bad, catchy and got a nice groove.
This had some bops on it and was a really fun listen. Felt like I went back in time.
Better than that Elvis album I heard
LAS VEGAS GOOOOO WILDDDDDDD, just kidding
Voto: 3
Decent jazz album with lyrics that improve the instrumentals. Some songs are dated and don’t hit as well but overall it’s ok. 5.6/10
Pretty good. Some real bangers on this one.
I imagine this got the jazz clubs boppin
Not my norm Brought me a lot of enjoyment as I realized many of this album have been remade Brought me down listening rabbit hole to David Lee roth and Brian setzer and big daddy voo doo. Enjoyed the lip too
In Conclusione: Vabbè che devo dì, cioè a me sto swing/cabaret me piace un botto.
A real party album. Not really what I was looking for, but I can see the appeal.
such a fun, easy listen i love jazz although i can hear a bit of rock n roll and blues too. cant forget the lovely saxophone though!
Wild by the standards of the time. Pretty tame cool jazz with flashes of eccentricity
Jolly, upbeat New Orleans jazz standards reminiscent of Louis Armstrong but not so gravelly
Never really listen to music like this from this era but it's so feel-good, upbeat. Like v early rock n roll. 3/5
The trumpets!
Lieblingssongs: 1. Just A Gigolo / I Aint Got Nobody - Medley 2. The Lip 3. Bananasplit For my Baby
Very much enjoyed this
Totally different to most things on this list so far. Very much enjoyed it.
Wonder if my parents listened to Louis Prima... The chorus “I Got Nobody” very similar to David Lee Roth
original new orleans jazz. trumpets and scat. covered by David Lee Roth , Stray Cats and others.
Some voice
Yep. Liked this one. Old school!
enjoyed it - very of its time but what a laugh they're having. Not sure it'll go on again but i guess that's what this is all bout. 6/10
Makes you smile. Nonsense in the main but quite enjoyable....in small doses!
Was a bit of fun!
Decent enough in a stick it on in the background while I'm making dinner kind of way.
I hadn’t realized that Louis Prima played trumpet. It was a nice addition, as was Keely Smith’s singing and Sam Butera’s sax. Without them Prima’s voice, which is strained in comparison to his (black) counterparts from that era, like big Joe Turner or Wynonie Harris, would have been hard to handle for 57 minutes. But there are some great dance floor tunes and it’s a catchy mix of jazz and rock n’ roll.
no
Fun album that must have been pretty daring and controversial in its day. Some real classics here. A great soundtrack to a mafia movie.
Maybe for the 1950s but certainly not the wildest today. (Still good!)
Great big band sounds, some funny lyrics and well done mixture of english and italian influence
I'm sure if I was alive in his time, I would have thought this was the greatest thing ever. But I'm not, so I don't. It's great swing music, I bet, but it's not for me.
right away - "ohh i know this voice" and "ah, yeah i know this song". not my thing for the most part but i liked some songs.
Although jazz is a form that celebrates experimentation, given the time period of this album there's only so many sounds that it couldve produced. Listening in one sitting, a lot of the songs seem to blur together and no song is particularly distinguishable from another, making it a tad redundant at times. That being said, brass instruments and jazz singers always fill me with a certain degree of warmth...similar to being wine drunk.
ihan jees, kivaa swing-henkistä settiä mutta vähän vanhahtava mun makuun
OG ska, good vibes
I'd heard pennies from heaven while watching Elf and will admit it was catchy as hell. Not a huge jump blues, swing fan, but it's actually pretty fun. Every song begins with the identical piano riff...songs all sound pretty similar but it's also such a distinct style that it's to be expected.
not much that stood out to me
jassy
it was good, makes you think about the past
very influential with Zatarans and Olive Garden
Nice easy listening. Pretty fun tunes, and outside my normal wheelhouse. Won't return to it, but alright alright alright.
Not something I'll listen to by choice, but it's classic and hard to rate poorly.
The start of the album was a little rough. Definitely not our taste in music. However, as it went on, I started to recognize a couple songs, and the enjoyment increased.
It's swing alright. Some fun stuff on here. Not on my rotation, but appreciated.
Not bad album. Some good tracks though nothing mind blowing.
3.5
This album is full of smiles and toe-tapping, it's all so very happy. I can happily listen to this stuff for hours. It runs along in the background like a friend who's just around to cheer you up and remind you to take a break for a smile every now and then. It's very nice.
Enjoyed this for the most part. What a refreshing change!
background vocals are a little chaotic, and not sure I'm a fan of the random repetitive syllables
Very funny and happy music to rise the spirit
weird
Not my sort of music. It's OK but I just won't listen to this by choice. I'll give this a 3 as am rating 2.8/5. Rating is mainly for excellent recording, excellent singing and skilful playing.
50’er vibe, flere kendte melodier, fremtrædent, jazz/blues/swing/r&b blanding
This was nifty and energetic, and also a bit goofy. Definitely an interesting listen.
i cant believe kanye got this dude for a track
One of those albums that's a bit too old timey for me to really judge but it's pretty catchy. I reckon it would have been my style of music if I was alive then lol
Being from the 50s gives this a bit of a nostalgic feel. The fast big band jamming feel can sound fun. And the songs are short. But none of this compensates for the excess of scatting and pratting about that makes this overall just a bit too annoying.
First of all, this is very dated. When listening, I have a very set time period and setting in mind. Secondly, the «fun» vocals and scatting is just annoying. Some songs aren’t that bad, though.
I get that he has a good voice and this was probably "wild!" at the time. If I could go back in time and be in a smoke-filled, half-lit bar listening to him perform this live I would find it more appealing I'm sure. Reading about it before listening I was hoping for something more along the lines of Spike Jones. This disappointed.
This music is too old fashioned. Not bad but the David Lee Roth cover of the first song is more lively than this original.
Heart sank but actually was a pleasant enough listen. It’s certainly a 1.5
Boogie Woogie, blues, swing - decent and I appreciate the talent but not my style of music.
Fine, but felt so dated.
This album feels like a parody of what swing music sounds like, it doesn’t feel like a real album. I think the album really shines when someone else is doing something, I think his voice is annoying to the point of comedy. But all that being said there’s still a lot of good playing here, and when it’s upbeat there’s a lot of fun to be had with this album. Favorites: (Nothing’s Too Good) For My Baby, The Lip, Jump Jive An’ Wail
Not my type
Alright, not the biggest fan
First one on the list ever. Good album, definitely need to listen to give it another listen cause I was multitasking too much. Good, no songs stood out but a nice listen. Was doing the dishes when I heard it. 6/10/26.
Eh
Enjoyable, high 2s.
Not my favorite genre but let's give it a shot! Update: Still not my cup of tea but some songs made me feel like I had been sent to the 50s and I was dancing to some blues with a pretty satin yellow dress. Also, I didn't expect to find Che La Luna in here.
not my vibe, chill tho
Essential pop album of the 50s. Incredibly catchy tunes that clearly shaped the lives of influential artists of decades later. Like David Lee Roth of Van Halen fame. Scatting is like Ska. We don’t need more of it because that which exists is suffice enough.
Not for us lol
not for me
Fun at the beginning but then it is repetitive and boring
Not for me
Was okay not my forte.
Já começa com a primeira faixa excelente. Já conhecia o disco. Shouthern Man é uma aula de música!! Que instrumental bom.
I liked the albums from the 60s , but I think I draw the line at the 50s. 2 stars
I thought i’d enjoy, but i didn’t. It’s all just too samey and clean
I thought Louis Prima’s voice was familiar when I was listening to this album, despite never knowingly have heard of him before. He is, of course, King Louie in “The Jungle Book”. That tidbit was about the height of my enjoyment here because, as we all know by now, Gemma hates Jazz. To its credit, it was a tight jazz album, with limited musical wankery, and I liked parts of the trumpet. But generally, this was not my bag.
It was alright, but not really my thing.
Nothing too crazy.
Not for me.
Kind of a trick pony
As a gamer, this album is straight out of the Fallout series soundtrack and gives me a sense of nostalgia. As an average listener of music, this album is.. eh. It's just big band jazz that you'd hear playing in the cocktail lounge outside the casino. Does it have it's place? Absolutely. Is it something to listen to while pecking at my keyboard during work hours? Absolutely not. 4/10, it's alright.
I was tortured clockwork orange style to this album
In my opinion I dont really like it i like the sax and the vibes of the songs are good I dont really like the lyrics and some of the songs are just mediocre at best
Can't say I love it, it's not my kind of genre. But even though this isn't my style of music that doesn't negate that it was energetic and original!
Would give it a 2.5, wouldn’t turn it off if played in the car or in the background but wouldn’t go searching for it either.
Honestly, all I can see in my mind's eye is a cartoon orang-utan singing. His voice is so familiar from The Jungle Book! Also, there definitely should be more songs about rascals IMHO.
Just a gigolo / I ain’t got nobody. 2/5
Not really into jazz and to be fair most music before the 60s has never appealed to me
My reviews has been really bad lately, I guess I’ve just been lazy hehe. But anyways I feel like some of the albums and my mindset has been kinda mid. Like yes this is objectively a well produced album and the composition is really good but I haven’t really gotten hooked on any song.
It was fine except for the instrumental parts. I knew Jump, Jive, and Wail. It reminded me of The Jungle Book.
i'm never in the mood for that. never.
King Louis telling us how much he dislikes women, among other fables...
Fun for what it is but didn’t blow me away as something particularly special, maybe it’s just that era this was huge.
It wasn't my vibe
sometimes sounded good but too many unpleasant sounds for a higher rating
cute but not fan of that old music.
It's fine, it's just not my bag
Decent swing, just not my jam
A bunch of swinging tunes! What a time! One listen is ok for me.
Not terrible. Liked almost every song, but none of the songs were outstanding. 5.25/14. 61.24%
Listening to buona sera felt like date night in Italy, a glass of wine, some cheesy pizza & cheeesy lines. Didn’t like the other songs, the random sounds were not my vibe. Really liked the naming of songs though!!
it's good but the long trumpet solos slightly gave me a migrane. also how can this make some people happy? i do like music from the 50s but i had to take breaks to finish this. seriously the trumpets, it gets to a point. good background music when there is chatter around, wouldn't blast this on full volume.
Every single song was ridiculous and every single song sounded like the intro to Pennies from Heaven. Kinda fun though to be honest.
Good tunes, but as an overall album I don't find it very impressive.
Quite good for what it is, but I don’t imagine myself revisiting it. It has some unhinged lyrics, though, that I rather dug, like “A glass of water for me, a banana split for her.” What does that mean??!?
it didn't really keep me engaged, i felt all the songs were fading into one and i just didn't really enjoy it. to be fair, its hard to keep me engaged in a genre which i don't typically listen to or enjoy, but i can appreciate that the instrumentals and vocals were great. the saxophones were fucking it upppp
Jazz it’s ok
Old standards. Not a big fan.
If this was a soup it would be chicken & veg. Its ok but not what you wanna eat
Vocal jazz is not the best jazz. Overall OK
Never trust the musical opinion of anyone who has the 1950s listed on here as their favourite decade.
i swear like 10 of these songs were the same songs in a different font and name. not alot of variety here. i enjoy it to a certain degree but after a while i get a little tired of it.
I like the first song but not really into the rest.
This was enjoyable enough to listen to, and I’m pleased I solved the mystery of why I recognized his voice, but I don’t think I will be listening to it again.
i dont really like it to be honest
I enjoy the sound of music from this era, and the range of tone of songs was nice, but it felt like listening to the radio rather than an album.
I mostly just wanted it to be over outside of a couple songs. Favorite track: Jump, Jive N Wail
boring
It was good but I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to listen again. Fave song: banana split for my baby
Ganz netter Hupfauf…
Not my thing
it was rich too rich for my liking i couldnt sustain the listening process but i was at the 3rd/4th track it was great but again its too much sound i cant handle it
Turns out most vocal jazz is still very much not my thing.
Fun and weird. Felt like I was watching an old movie.
Yeah my grandma loves this dude
2.5 stars it's not bad, just not all that interesting. I think they're are probably other artists/albums from the big band era that I'd enjoy more.
the WILDEST! - Louis Prima It’s ok, nothing groundbreaking. At least there’re some bops here and then. It’s fine.
Genuine gothic perfection
Not my cup of tea, but I did finally figure out what Marvin Berry and his band was playing at The Enchantment Under the Sea dance in Back to the Future 1 (Night Train). Lots of songs off of this were covered by other people. And a lot of these are covers too. Not bad, just not my cup of tea as I said.
Keely Smith made the strongest impression with me back when I first attempted this list, one of the lone female voices. Otherwise, not a lot here to hear without fresh ears...
Man, another true oldie - this is entry #4 in the book. The last 1950s album I rolled was "Kind of Blue" by Miles Davis, which was just over 50 albums ago. There are a mere twenty three 50s albums on the list, so I cherish these for their relative scracity. I'm getting too carried away. I'm gleaming a Sinatra-esque energy from this album cover. What genre does he belong to again? Jazz? Pop? I don't know my 50s music. BOOM, I am a genius. Granted, there were all of five music genres back in the 50s, but I attribute this victory to my sheer, unyielding musical intellect. Another album full of standards, aye? I'm conflicted with how I feel about these picks. On one hand, this was all music was at the time and on the other I feel that only music composed by bands/solo artists should be considered for inclusion (granted, this criteria would eliminate most pop music, but still). Anyways, this album is solid. You can't really get standards wrong - they're designed to be pleasing no matter how you play them. Nothing in here really stuck out, truth be told. Just moderate song after moderate song, though this album does have the wherewithal to end before things get too frustrating. "You Rascal You" is funny. Nothing in the world could have prepared me for a song with this decade, lyric and instrumental combination. Apparently there's a continuation of the song titled "I Done Caught that Rascal Now", which I'm sure is about torturing the poor sod to another easy listening tune. Book time. Revitalised Prima's career. Unparalleled performances and charisma from Prima. Wikipedia says that this album is "...an innovative mixture of early rock and roll, jump blues and jazz". There's also mild critical acclaim for this album from music historians. Like I said, I'm favourable to these kinds of albums because of their scarcity. Prima kind of went completely bonkers with the album releases after this, so his success must have counted for something, right? I cosign this inclusion.
Babylon vibes, little too ecstatic for me but not a boring listen.
I thought I really liked this but it got tedious pretty quick.
Points of interest to me here. I loved the cover of Just A Gigolo that David Lee Roth did in the middle 80s. It was one of our party standards at the time and it was good to hear the original. 1 star earned. A second star is earned by learning that this is actually King Louis, the King of the Swingers, and due to my dad's love of The Jungle Book, it was a film that I was brought up on. If I Want To Be Like You was on here, I'd have pushed up to a low 3 stars, but a high 2 will do. It's fun and happy enough, but I lost interest after a couple of plays. Glad I listened. Next!
It's fine background music, but nothing more. 5/10
Some fun tracks in small doses. Just not for me.
Not for me
Meh
I’m not sure who, in 2025, would listen to this unironically. So far my best guesses are guys who have a side hustle selling beard oil or Disney adults. Both groups give me the creeps, though there may be considerable overlap between the two.
1,9/5
Pretty inane lyrics and kind of redundant even with every song being pretty short. 50s music might just be too far back for me to really appreciate
Idk bruh
Goofy
This was some nice to listen jazz. 2
Didn't hate but not really my thing
2.5
Fun album. Starts strong, weak in the middle, ends strong.
At least it's high energy
Nice vocals, nice melodies, sonically uninteresting as most of 50s music (that is not jazz) is. Also some truly terrible lyrics.
Not really fair to assess this one since decent music wasn’t invented til 1959.
sounds like fallout
Ein bisschen zu langweilig
Fun, felt like being in a am Disney museum
Not my piece of cake
Big band/jazz do-wop. Nothing special here for the 50s? Banana Split For My Baby has some humour! Unexpected! Best track - I'll Be Glad When You're Dead, Banana Split for My Baby 2 stars
Ok
I wanted to like this - ultimately couldn’t get into the style - even if lyrically he is quite funny
Not really my genre, I'm sure it was very good, but I couldn't get engaged with it.
pleasant enough on its face, but its inclusion in the book is frankly insulting considering the complete omission of Louis Armstrong when Prima is more or less an Armstrong knockoff
Not my genre ma non mi e dispiaciuto none penso riascolterò mai nulla però.
Times were different. Fav: -
oof
Mid asf. I could’ve gone my whole life without hearing this. Like I’ll be honest the music wasn’t bad but just so not enjoyable. Like this sounds exactly like something made in the 50s and shouldn’t be on this list. 4.1/10 2/5
I was promised 'The Wildest'. That's flagrant false advertising man.
Whenever Louis Prima sings I can’t help be think of King Louie from jungle book which lowkey ruined this record for me Everything was good except when he sings
for me 'jump' is forever associated with khakis
65/100 day 12 of 1089 albums, pretty good but one of the lowest points of this project for me so far, quite hit and miss overall, the expanded edition with 4 extra songs isn't necessary at all i think the original version is fair enough. the instrumental tracks are 1000% the best ones on this project which is quite weird because i think that his voice carries this project for the most part
Fun, but I got pretty tired of it after a while.
not for me…
Idk jazz isn’t exactly my style
One of the weaker jazz albums on here. Quirky vocals, derivative music
Sure that one song is great, but I feel like there are other better hard swinging big bands. This set did not stand out for me.
Great although not my personal taste
This was ok, but only ok.
Just a Gigalo/I Ain't Got Nobody - Backup vocals were very cool, lackluster drums. (Nothing's Too Good) For my Baby - Keely and Louis's voices suit each other's well, weird message but understandable words. The Lip - Trumpet (as the song suggests) hits high notes perfectly, sounds a bit like a old Disney movie song. Body and Soul - Impressive solo, made sure to hear each and every beat instead of letting the notes go missing. Oh, Marie - Train-like drums aren't the right choice in my opinion. Basin Street Blues/When It's Sleepy Time Down South - Impressed with the brass section again. Jump, Jive An' Wail - Not the biggest fan honestly. Buona Sera - Scatting brought this album together. Night Train - Too much happens at once. You Rascal You - Weird lyrics, good voice though.
Mycket som låter likadant
I don't hate jazz, but this album was just so boring. It grew old very quickly. Fortunately, it is quite short so I didn't have to be bored for too long. The first song or two was fun, but then the scatting just grew to be repetitive.
Meh
Love him descending into jovial hysteria on Just A Gigolo / I Ain't Got Nobody. 'Tis all nice and jovial but quite samey.
Nice revival English folk
cool but i wont replay it lol
The Baldee-bozee-bop, blee-bop threw me in the first song. I'll be glad when your dead song was cracking me up.
Kinda fun, very dated.
Pretty forgettable album. I dont usually listen to big band stuff but i didnt hate it. 4/10 Favourite: Just a Gigolo Least Favourite: Night Train
Not my favorite.
Jazz nonsense
Well, yes, it's wild, but not in a way that would make me listen to it over and over again 😐
I don't know what to do with this. It sounds better than I thought a fifties records usually sounds. It sounds like a whole album not a collection of singles. But I have no real context for this. There are a number of songs on here I know from other covers and commercials. These songs are so ubiquitous I don't ever think that I'd actively search them out.
Solid but not for me.
old fart music, kind of a vibe, but I feel like charlie chaplin in this bad boy
Same-ey
Fun enough I suppose.
This kind of personality schtick jazz from the 50s strikes me as music for people who aren't really into music. It's like eschewing standup comedy to just see Gallagher smash the watermelon over and over. I'm sure Louis Prima was a hoot live, but I'd rather hear a Sam Butera and the Witnesses record. "Night Train" slaps.
The horns were definitely the best part of this. At times it seemed somewhat silly to me- Not bad, but definitely takes a certain mood.
Starts out with him singing about being a male prostitute so shout out. Great vocals. Not really my thing
