Reviews (page 10 of 12)

Not a Jazz fan overall

kinda boring, but good to do work to

A good earlier jazz album

A good album with a lot of stuff I wouldn’t normally hear.

I like Thelonius but he can be a bit hard work. A bit too avante guarde

Has fun moments while being a relaxing ambient listen. Completely instrumental so not an everyday listen, however I enjoyed my time.

I liked this one but not sure whether I'll revisit any of the songs again. 3/5 stars

A fine jazz record but Monk’s piano is the only thing that really makes it great. Not really getting the hype

Decent jazz

Like I surrender dear, but idk nothing stood out. I feel like I want to like monk more than I do

Background music for me, liked Bemshwa Swing at the end, pulled it up from a 2 to a 3

Once again not a fan of jazz, especially the more experimental stuff, but this was very interesting. Bits sounded like they shouldn’t be there, it was odd

This was listenable but it faded into the background for me. I'm not a focused jazz listener and admittedly don't have the experience to appreciate it like an aficionado. I was honestly surprised to see this on a big list of rock/pop albums.

Frantic jazz , good I guess

old school piano jazz

Can appreciate the artistry of this while not necessarily thinking it was amazing. Would listen again but probably not recommend it to others.

Pretty cool despite not being my bag

Wasn't in the mood at all at first. Actually enjoyed it on second attempt.

Not my usual listen but I enjoyed it in the background.

Maybe some percussion stuff was cool, but nothing about this album makes we want to listen to a single track ever again

Sin voz.

3.2*...good album for what it is but it’s elevator music

5 canciones y 42 minutos.

jazz. don't know much about it. but enjoyed it.

Definitely enjoyable, but all the nuance in jazz is lost on me. Hard Bop tends to be most my space and i could listen to this again, but i'm sure i wouldn't recognize any of these pieces.

Great jazz album, very soothing. Didn't blow my mind

Cool blues/Jazz album. Nice to relax to or play as house

No songs really killed it for me.

🎹👅

Next up is a Jazz album called Brilliant Corners by Thelonious Monk. I know the name, and I've heard of some of the collaborators on this album from 1957. It's the sort of Jazz I've had trouble with in the past. The reviews describe this album as challenging and idiosyncratic, and that means it keeps taking me out of the music. The first song, and name of the album, feels disjointed and scattered and I'm having trouble staying connected. The 2nd song feels better and grooves along well enough, I can hear Monk and how he is in the lead - and the other band mates follow. From what I can see this is a Hard Bop album and this might be the exact kind of Jazz I'm not a fan of. Though I find myself getting drawn into some of the quiet parts of this album. Though it seems like something comes along and interrupts my listening. I own some jazz, and have enjoyed it as art form for many years. My wife is a big fan of the Jazz Vibes playlist on Spotify, which is as far as I get with Jazz these days. And it's background music for the most part. The latter half of this album was very well done.

As usual I don't feel qualified to critique jazz. This captured me less than other Thelonious Monk pieces I've heard.

nice jazz

not my thing. Didn't finish the album.

Not something I would usually listen to, but I did enjoy this. Unconventional song structures and rhythms, and some fantastic playing. Not an easy listen, but an enjoyable one.

Idk if I’ve graduated from jazz appreciator to jazz lover. Some of it sounds incredible, but the really dissonant off-key notes really throw me off. I get that they’re kinda supposed to make you feel a little uncomfortable but it’s just not the most pleasing jazz to me.

Iz jazz

Nice jazz. I probably can't properly appreciate this album due to a number of factors... but yeah it's good jazz. Standout Tracks: Pannonica

I don't know if this is good or not, but I just don't like Jazz. 2 stars or D.

As I’ve commented on other similar albums on this list. Decent enough, but I have not hit my smooth jazz phase yet.

different. jazz. piano.

The creator of this list really does love jazz. Just sounds like more hotel lobby background music to my heathen ears

Nice and jazzy but a bit too disjointed for me

Was happy when it ended which is not normally a good sign

I don’t think I listened to this at the right moment because I felt a bit distracted while listening. I think I would appreciate the quality of the music more at a different time. Or maybe I’m simply not into jazz? I’ll definetely listen to it more in the future to try and figure that out.

I am a jazz beginner; maybe someday I will acquire a taste for it.

It was groovy in some bits, and then I felt like I was entering psychosis

This reminded me of the Phantom Tollbooth and not in a good way.

They’re very good musicians. Don’t really like the music though.

Seems that I just don't understand jazz.

Classic jazz. Not much to write home on

It’s not bad. By biggest issue with it is length. The songs are all too long for me, so it makes it feel a bit sloggy. 2/5

i dont like jazz so this got boring pretty fast

i dont have the brain for jazz

Really good moments and also not so memorable ones. The piano playing just sounds sloppy to me at times. The tenor sax in the intro to the first song is not my favorite performance either. The celeste was a cool instrumentation choice but being a keyed instrument the clumsiness is there as well. Bass and drums were good throughout. Maybe I will come around sometime but for now it's not doing it for me.

Just isn't for me. Not bad per se, but wouldn't choose to listen to it. Maybe I just didn't connect to it.

it's the kinda of overwhelming jazz. solos are kinda semi-random, but the vibe is good

Honestly, I personally just don’t get jazz. I understand that jazz is always different and is spontaneous and unpredictable, but to me it feels like most of the time it drags on for too long and just doesn’t do much for me. But as an album, I’ll give it props for being technical and out there. But honestly I would not play this again for myself unless I have a good reason to. Overall Score: Strong 4

Look, I’m not a jazz guy, never have, never will. I can however, appreciate the significance of Monk and what he stood for at the time. Unfortunately, for me personally, it never switches out of first gear, though the drums are spectacular in places like Bemsha Swing.

I'm not a big jazz fan, so I'm probably missing something. I know what a big deal Thelonious Monk is to American jazz, but I'd much rather listen to Dave Bruebeck or Art Pepper than this. It's a bit too freeform for my taste.

I really don't know how to rate this. I'm sure it's important jazz but I got bored listening to it. I will never become a jazz musician which is probably required to really 'get it'. This is all reflected in my rating, anyone reading can feel free to use whatever ad hominem they are thinking it's probably true.

Gives that speak easy feeling.

I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on jazz, and his is name that I have heard, but after hearing a few jazz albums on this list, this doesn't do it for me. Most jazz records I have come across I could see just having on in the background, but this doesn't reach that threshold. It seems disjointed at times at the sake of any real melody, which as a fan of noise rock and post punk I would normally be into, but it doesn't work for me here. I can see some talent here, but there is nothing I would come back to.

Was chatting with my brother and I asked him "Do you like jazz?" And he said well I like sauerkraut, kefir, yogurt, pickles, and kimchi, but I do not care for kombucha. People always try to get me to drink kombucha and I just don't like it." He does eat probiotic, fermented foods, just not in a rotten tea-like form. So it is with jazz. I just don't care for this music. No interest in hearing it again. Is the musicianship solid? Sure. And I think of myself as a spontaneous, freedom loving kind of guy. Just not into jazz. Oh well.

Schreckliches Gedudel

Not bad, just too long and drawn out.

Too meandering. This is why I don't like so much of jazz. There's just too much going on and it sounds like a mess.

Pannonica (★★★☆☆) 4. I Surrender, Dear (★★⯨☆☆) 5. Bemsha Swing (★★★★⯨) -La mejor. ================================================ ================================================ ================================================ CALIFICACIÓN FINAL -Promedio de las dos escuchas. (★★⯨☆☆) (2,35) ================================================ ================================================ ================================================ -Definitivamente no es algo que escucharía todos los días, incluso es necesario tener cierta predisposición para hacerlo, al menos en mi caso. ================================================ ================================================ ================================================

No lyrics, jazz music. Good to do work to.

You like jazz....? Not really.. .he's no H. Jon Benjamin, Jazz Daredevil

I didn't realize until a couple songs that I had finished the album and some other jazz was playing. I guess that tells you what kind of ear I have for jazz.

tranquilo

4 - BAD

Saved? ✅ Would listen again? 🤔 Would recommend to anyone? 🤔 Would buy on Vinyl? 🤔

I am begging for more respites between all the jazz. I don’t ask for much.

I prefer my jazz a little less out there

I don’t like Jazz

A bit too much for me. Needs a bit of structure!

Eh, this was alright. The music was decent and I enjoyed the rambling jazziness of it, but the piano had some really awful-sounding keys and it kept distracting me when he would just hammer those terrible notes over and over. The hammers sounded really hard and jangly too sometimes, which really pulled me out of it. I expected better music-wise from Monk. Two stars.

I just don't know how I've got by without Thelonious all these years 😏

Dull. Sorry 😬

I like jazz and enjoyed the album but it didn’t stick out to me and I will probably never listen to it again.

Talented musicians. Not my jam.

I recognize that there's a lot of talent behind this album, but I just do not care for this smooth, artsy sort of jazz music. It feels like background music, never something I would deliberately play myself or pay much attention to. I'm just too uncultured to appreciate this I guess.

While I appreciate the musical skill, it is not great commute-to-work music. It didn't offend my ears, but I kind of tuned it out.

I like Monk's playing and his solo albums, but in a band conext that kind if 50s Jazz is super annoying. Cheesy melodies + endless soloing from instruments that NOBODY wants to hear a solo from ... like bass or drums.

todo es sospechoso y sexy en simultaneo.

Fine to have on in the background but... jazz.

Far too slow for my liking, album did not progress enough for me, songs felt detached sometimes and too respective other time. Altogether not a good album.

not really my vibe still nice tho and cramps reallt enjoyed it

I can hear Monk's influence on Terry Adams of NRBQ, but still don't care much for jazz

227/1089 unfortunately i’m not a brass lover. i think i just generally don’t really “get” jazz. like it sounds nice a lot of the time and if it’s used well in films i like it but i think i just don’t really have a frame of reference to understand it or how it’s meant to make you feel? i can see how playing it would be fun and cathartic etc though 23/100

mid jazz

Not exactly the type of jazz I vibe with. I'm sure it's good. Just not for me

I don’t dislike jazz, I sometimes find it to be just background music. This was no different. Did I enjoy it? Yes. Would I play it again? Probably not

I liked it a bit more than the last one too much jazz

Sounds a bit like band practice

This is just restaurant that tries to appear fancy music. The type of music you notice on enter, and then, 30 minutes into your meal, go, “Wait, there was music playing the whole time?” I use “background music” to describe certain types of relaxed, inoffensive music mostly sardonically, but this album fits the most literal definition of “background music” you can possibly come up with. It’s music you need to actively try to pay attention to to notice. The thing is, jazz musicians have the toolset and capabilities to make some of the most exciting music ever, but a lot of them choose to make something like this instead. I guess there’s no point in being mad. Different people like different things, and the fact that most of this genre is not made for me is fine. But I’m still a little disappointed. This album is not, like, extremely boring or annoying to listen to. It’s just such a nothing burger. Nothing happens in it, nothing to talk about. Just a couple dudes jamming out whatever, and the result is… passable. 5/10

I still have no taste, and I still apologize

I know there's talent here, and I understand that most of the progressive metal and technical metal I enjoy is based on a foundation of jazz. That being said, my enjoyment of the genre ends with the Local on the 8s circa 1993 Weather Channel.

I have no taste, I apologize

Yep that sure.is jazz piano.

I just don't like jazz

The man is a genius. But I’m not.

So much dissonance. Such looong songs. I recognize the level of talent of the musicians. I liked the instrumental solos. I do like jazz and 1950s jazz, but this album was tough for me to listen to straight through from start to finish.

I know Thelonious Monk is a pianist but maybe a whole album of jazz piano is not my thing. I just wasn't drawn in for any extended time.

Not any words, long songs, and some piano chords weren’t actually chords, but it was pretty good!

Too much instrumental for me

jazzy stuff just not my kinda music

This one really wasn't my thing. I'm not that familiar with this sort of genre so perhaps there are other artists or albums I'd prefer, but to me this just sounded like a band improvising and jamming with not much context or progression. I've no doubt the players are all wildly proficient at their instruments but it's not the sort of thing I particularly enjoy listening to. I feel it would work in the right setting (I'm imagining an old style jazz club with a house band just keeping the mood going in the background). Unfortunately doesn't hit home for me in this context.

Pretty good

music that i would hear in portillo's

To my ignorant ears, this just sounded like abrasive jazz. That is all

Doceniam, ale wolę inne gatunki jazzu.

Jazz wasn’t really for me but favorite song - brilliant corners

not my thing

for me jazz is more of a background music but don't get me wrong i love a good jazz bar where you can dance this album has nice twists to it and i like it's old vibe

Reminds me of being back in jazz band playing Straight No Chaser. It’s good, but I didn’t understand if then and still don’t really now haha

Def going to use this is I’m having a swanky dinner party and want to impress someone

I appreciate that this is probably a lot better then I'll give it credit for. Jazz for me is a genre i generally prefer to hear live and for my tastes, I found it a little too meandering.

Not a big fan of blues/jazz. But I can appreciate it. Quite relaxing but it reminds me of some posh restaurant from a movie lol

Niet heel bijzonder

Not for me

I remember quite liking Monk's stuff in the past but this album is kinda weak to me. On monst of the tracks it feels like there's an instrument missing - they feel incomplete.

Boah, Jazz ist irgendwie Hit or Miss...

would be better live but very nice

Not bad, but def not something I would ever want to listen to.

Not brilliant at all

pling pling plong fwiet fwiet twiedeldie twiedelda... niet mijn kopje thee

This is the type of jazz I do not like.

It's probably not fair to compare an album like this to one that has lyrics. The music may be great, but it would be hard to just sit and listen to the whole album unless you're waiting in a doctor's office.

Life is simply too short to listen to jazz. I turned this off during the 20 minute second song. I am just not a jazz guy. You could tell me this is the best jazz in history or the worst, either way I’d believe you. “Just play the right notes.” -Angela Martin, Accounting

Man that’s a lot of horns

Too discordant

Background music

Freeform jazz. It's fine.

Made me feel cultured, but I didn't ultimately enjoy it all that much. Best as background noise.

Can't get into jazz

I cannot figure this jazz thing out. When a rock album has a jazz feel, I usually like it, but the jazz albums on this list, just don't do it for me. This sounds more like an impromptu jam session, but nothing connects. Everyone is doing their own thing. 2.0

I haven't listened to a ton of Jazz but I have actually listened to this one before! Obviously Thelonious is incredible, but I actually don't find this album my favorite, it's a little too--I don't know--discordant, for my taste? Really just don't like some of the noises, I am sure it's much better as a sit down, focused album but that's not when I really listen to jazz, at least not live

First time listening to an instrumental piano jazz album. It was neat. Short tracklist that still managed to spill into the north of 40 minutes territory. Nothing sonically stood out like crazy, but i respect it.

Meh wasnt that moving. Felt a bit random and repetitive.

Great musicians, I just don't like instrumental jazz. At all.

Added a song but the rest wasn't really for me. I'm yet to get really into jazz.

ehh not my vibe

This is to jazz what breakcore is to EDM, just the full "we've found a melody/motif/style, so let's immediately abandon it and find another" tactic. When it's good it's good, but a lot of the time it was just a bit background for me.

Another jazz album. It’s fine, it’s decent background music but I definitely didn’t need to hear this and it’s not my favorite

He's got a great name for Jazz. Despite getting onto double figure Jazz albums the Jazz penny has yet to drop for me. This was okay but still not getting it.

"The complex title track required over a dozen takes in the studio", so if my maths is correct this album took approximatley 1 billion years to record

I didn’t like this. It sounded jarring and I just couldn’t get past that unfortunately. Maybe I’m just an untrained jazz listener, but I felt it lacked soul.

As ever with jazz I don’t have the ear or the context to judge whether this album is objectively ‘good’ or important (though I’ve no doubt Thelonius was both); I can only try and judge whether I enjoyed hearing it. I liked tracks 1 and 5, which were upbeat and had strong, angular hooks (are these the titular ‘Brilliant Corners?’). My interest dipped during the solos though, and the other tracks faded into background listening too easily for me. A pretty neutral 2.5 stars.

Ok, I’ll start on a positive note because I don’t really have much else in the way of positivity for this album as a whole. I think the name Thelonious Monk is pretty great. I don’t know if that’s the guys name, the name of the band, or even a stage name, but it’s pretty cool. Part of the charm is that I have no idea, and don’t care enough to google it to find out. Ok, so that’s what was good about the album, now the negatives. It’s more Jazz. I don’t understand Jazz, and every time I think I’m starting to finally get it and roll a Jazz album I like, I soon after end up rolling an album like this, and just strongly dislike it. It’s just boring man, plus the lack of a structure doesn’t soothe me, it gives me anxiety. The overbearing piano and trumpet just make me dizzy. I don’t like this. I recognize and am easily able to appreciate the greatness and talent of the band, but personally I would never seek any of this out, and will not be returning to Mr. Monk, if that is in fact his real name. I just don’t get it. I’ll chalk it up to that and simply be satisfied knowing that I gave this one an honest attempt by listening to it all day. It’s Jazz, I can’t pick a favorite. Sorry. It’s between “Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues-Are” and “Bemsha Swing”. Those were at least bearable.

Jag orkar inte.

Yep, pretty sure it’s jazz.

Kuuntelin kuitenkin albumin kokonaan, vaikka teki heti mieli jättää kesken...

The vibes are fine, just not for me. I don't know why anyone would choose to listen to jazz in 2025, but if they do, good for them. All jazz sounds about the same to me. There might be some interesting rhythms, but it's all the same to me and it all puts me to sleep.

Non eccezionale,.mi aspettavo di più

Once again I am reminded that I don't like jazz very much, but good job lads

no into it; decided I am not a jazz person

It's honestly surprising how I considered myself a jazz enthusiast but I put this one on and could barely tell apart each track from this album. It's nice to put in a cafe or as background work music.

Jazz isn't really my thing. I try to like it, but I can't seem to. Pleasant enough, though

I mean, it's jazz. I don't get jazz yet.

Don't like jazz but didn't hate it. I like jazz drummers.

Jazz, not my vibe. Cool name though

Jazz. Didn’t strike me as particularly special or groundbreaking

good jazz

I'm officially fed up with jazz. This album sounds like every other jazz record. I'm not saying that all jazz albums are rubbish, but "Brilliant Corners" is one of the disappointing ones. The piano bits are nice to hear. Let's hope I don't get another bad album. 2 stars for "Brilliant Corners".

I mean sure. But also no.

It was alright. Too early in the morning for jazz I think

Very jazzy but laid back, no vocals, not really my thing but still nice to listen to

Jazz continues to be shit.

For lack of a better phrase, this album feels like a “grower, not a shower”. I’m sure the more you listen to this the better it gets. There’s a lot of great instrumentation and things that define “jazz”. But it’s also the type of jazz to fill a room to play at a dinner party just to fill the silence.

Jazz is like the Iceland of music

jazz. 2

Oh, only 5 songs. Oh, these are long! Not a terrible listen, but I would never choose to listen to this.

Not keen on this. Too chaotic.

Alright for background music but not something I’d want to listen to again

Another seminal jazz album which I am totally unable to appreciate due to my ignorance. I'm sure it's great if you know anything about making music. I don't, so all I can say is that this sounds pretty good at times but unless I change quite a lot I'm good not to listen to this again.

Not my thing man

So much talent, and I'm just left cold. It's my fault, but I just don't like jazz.

Echt jazz

Not huge into jazz with no lyrics

We get it you can play an instrument Songs added to/on playlist: 0 2/5

I did not enjoy this.

Lets just meander, OK? Talented musicians, but it felt like a jam session that never found a point. Not unlistenable, just department store background music vibes. Spins: 1 Playlist Additions: - Brilliant Corners

Not a fan of pure jazz apparently, though I like a lot of jazz rooted things

nice arrangements but not my style

Nice music I guess but really not my style. Got bored after the first song. But it was a pleasant boring

It was okay I’m just not a big jazz head

Had to remind myself of this a little for the review as I hadn’t written any notes. I think this strays more into the kind of jazz I struggle with. The musicality is top quality but to listen to as a standalone exercise it’s not necessarily my bag. My favourite sections are probably when the sax and other instruments are involved but given the style that can then get a bit chaotic, like each instrument is fighting to break through.

probably need to listen in a focused way, maybe even with headphones to get fully try and appreciate it. Some nice melodies but I had it on while I was doing other things and it faded into the back ground 2 plays through.......

Faded to the background - hadn’t realised it had finished.

I love 50's music, and I do enjoy some jazzy songs (usually with singing) This though I just could not get into! Parts of it sounded grating to me. Piano chords that were just slightly off for example. Made me uncomfortable Some singing over this might have detracted me from the unpleasant noises. But it was a pain to sit and listen to just the music Sadly there was nothing brilliant found in any corner of this album 2 ⭐️

This is the background music for a weird and boring dinner party I hope I'm never invited to.

Just like all jazz, it's not horrible, but it's also not something I'd grab to listen to. As someone else said, this is music that entertains the people playing it more than the listener.

5/10 J A Z Z

Rating: 5/10 Meh.

Cruisy jazz album, need to revisit

Sorry I just find jazz boring

Hate Jazz like a cat on a piano and parping

Yes, this is a jazz album. So very jazzy, thanks.

Ei ihan mun juttu

May need to circle back to this one!

Jazz, not my thing, men lite chill. Kan förstå att det är bra.

A little too unstructured for my taste.

You like jazz? Meh, I prefer my jazz with some lyrics

Jazz really isn’t my thing

I just don’t get jazz. I’m sure there’s some great musicianship on show here, but I can’t really tell. I also can’t get Garfield or any other 70s/80s cartoon out of my minds eye when listening to this genre. I now fancy some lasagne!

I'm sure it's brilliant music, but it is not for me.

I know I'm not a jazz aficionado, but this just made me think of Will Ferrell scatting as Robert Goulet ("BOP BOP doo doo doo doo...GOULET!"). Really hard to get into this one. 1.8

Yeah idk I like Jazz but this wasn't it. It did some interesting things but honestly the parts I liked most were the most basic parts and that was disappointing. Hoping we get some more redeeming Jazz albums as the list goes on. Hoping we get some Doolittle by the Pixes soon bc im in dire need of a 5/5. Favourites - Pannonica, I Surrender, Dear

I do indeed fear the jazz!

It kind of sounds like they are hitting wrong piano notes but it somehow still sounds ok

Not for me but I understand it’s jazz pedigree

Not my fave either, every piece is played beautifully but it didn’t give me the same feelings of nostalgia.

This was better than the last jazz offering thrown my way by this generator… but only just.

I keep wondering if one day I'll wake up and have suddenly gained an appreciation of jazz. It's not happened yet. At one point during Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues-Are, the drums reminded me of roadworks. I did not hate this like I hated Bill Evans, but I can't say I particularly enjoyed it either. Once again, I'm bemoaning the lack of half stars. 2/5

# 493 : Brilliant Corners : 02/06/2025 MORE BORING JAZZ! I honestly can't say anything bad about it, except it seemed more like they are constantly warming up and I spent the whole album waiting for them to start playing something. Whatever I was doing while I was listening to this album was more enjoyable than this.

I don’t think jazz is for me.

Leuk om jazz te leren kennen.

crazy name

# Album Name: Thelonious Monk # Artist: Brilliant Corners # Rating: 2/5 # Comments: The only corner this reminds me of is one of those sharp edges you manage to catch your balls on when you walk on by. I gave it a chance but i didnt enjoy this one. # Top Tunes: Not a single sausage # Would I listen to it again? No

It's not bad, but it's not good either. The first few songs are great, with some really nice solos to listen to. But as you progress through the songs, they start to sound like elevator music. Despite the few songs, listening to the end was a huge challenge.

It takes a lot to make me like jazz. I like Kind of Blue and there were bits here that I could relax to. Other bits sounded like stereotypical American TV tunes gone wrong.

I don't have an ear for jazz. I can't find the groove, each 8-minute song is a slog. Maybe it's good. I'll never know.

It was ok, a bit boring, didn’t really change me on my whole jazz adventure in any way. I can see why this is on the list, but maybe it just wasn’t for me

Not a bad album, but it's just not for me.

Jazz is just not for me.

Jazz sounds all the same to me… I guess I’m just not cultured

My problem with jazz is that I feel like I need both a music and history degree to understand it.

Interesting listen. Enjoyed this one. Lot less dated than other jazz listens so far. Highlights: None

Definitely a lot more experimental than some of the other jazz on this list. It was fun to see the inspiration for the song "Cruella de Vil" from 101 Dalmatians in "Ba-Lue Bolivar Ba-Lues-Are". I wasn't as impressed with the instrumentation with this album. Decent album and I appreciate it as a piece of art, but it's not something I see myself listening to again.

Yeah I dunno it's a jazz album - this shit all sounds the same to me.

idk what the deal is here this feels like nothing

A bit anonymous

Another solid album where nothing's really standing out to me... though not exactly my flavor of jazz either.

I honestly do not have much to say about this one. It was fine. It didn't really leave an impression on me in any way.

On 4/14/46 Mel Ott hit home run number 511, the final one of his career.

I don’t hate jazz but I can’t say I enjoyed this. Maybe technically marvelous to those who are interested but to a casual listener, I didn’t perceive much range in tone or emotion. It felt samey throughout.

Sorry but I just cant stand this. 2 stars because I am sure these are excellent musicians and this is exceedingly difficult and maybe groundbreaking. But I find it unlistenable noise

i like that I Surrender, Dear is more piano based and has very little background instruments. pretty good music for a jazz club. maybe not my jam but i can appreciated it!

I was not expecting fully instrumental so soon, but this was nice to listen to. Not much more than that, for me. Sounds like a soundtrack to a coffeeshop though, which was enjoyable to have on in the background while doing other things.

Very Jazzy, but also not really my thing. Am I uncultured? Should I feel ashamed of myself? Maybe I should give this another go at an older age when i can appreciate the sophisticated things in life. I need to be in my own private reading room by the fireplace, wearing only my bathrob, and a glass of whiskey in my hand, as I immerse myself in the music while going through my weekly existential crisis. 2/5

Yeah I probably won't listen to it again. But, jazz

This album ruined my morning. Really boring and made me want to go back to my warm bed.

This one was a little weird. Not my fave when it comes to jazz. Sounded nothing like Monsters Inc.

It was ok. I think I prefer jazz from a little bit later

Too jazzy

Not a fan of this subgenre of jazz. It’s like listening to a hangover.

I'm glad jazz is for someone, but it's not for me. This album just made me anxious.

Too jazzy? A little too jazzy. Couldn’t get into this one.

Miellyttävää. Mutta vain jazzia.

Monk’s style can be a bit polarizing, compared to more fluid or melodic jazz pianists like Bill Evans or Dave Brubeck. The rhythmic unpredictability gives it a uniqueness for sure.

I don’t know jazz well enough to be able to tell if this is any good or not. Therefore I can only really judge it in whether I liked it or lot. And I didn’t.

Better jazz than most, it's fatal flaw is that it's jazz

Are we going to get a decent jazz album at any point

Not what i was in the mood for

I found this album disappointing. The instrumentation felt off and poorly balanced at times, and the horns and piano struck a harsh and almost discordant tone at times which made sections of the songs very unappealing. There's still a decent jazz album here, but I was very underwhelmed overall. Top tracks: Pannonica; I Surrender, Dear

New genre for me. It was pleasant to listen to, but I also thought it was a little bit chaotic at times in a way? Idk maybe that’s just how jazz is. It was fine as background music but I couldn’t really actively listen to it I think

Not my favorite. Some good moments in certain songs but overall not my vibe.

Not for me

This was ok

Wider biz ah mir verbijazzed, obwohls doch no paar gueti passage gha het, hani ned die voll ufmerksamkeit chöne geh

Third jazz album. Still don’t like jazz.

Jazz is not my cup of tea..still isn't...even "worse" than the previous experience...It's my problem, not the artist/album...I am used to structured music, on the beat...all things this album is not...

Kinda boring

Fine. K. More 50’s piano quartets.

I feel like a terrible person for not enjoying this, but jazz is usually not something I enjoy. After a while, the constantly changing syncopation starts to drive me nuts, almost like nails on a chalkboard. It's not you; it's me. It's definitely me.

Feels like an album that I'd appreciate more if I understood music theory better. ..but as the message is that which remains from the sending to the receiving...
