Nothing in this for me.

An extra star for my lack of French.

sa moyenne. pas pour moi

Not a big fan of spoken word rap

Too raucous for me

Just not my cup.

Liked the sound, just didn’t understand what they are saying

pas mal

Not bad, easy to listen to in background but all quite similar!

Nope. Or should I say "non"?

Rap, hip - hop francés.

It’s what I think is French rap which would be cool cause I like listening to the language but it’s in a style that I don’t like and it being in French doesn’t change that fact. Like rap that you would hear in an oceans 11 montage

Good instrumentals.

Beats are good. Vocal talents is good. I bet if this was in English I'd like it a lot more.

cheap 90s neo-clubby backing with French raps. ranges from mild to severely boring- I died listening to Raga Jam

French rap? No. Not for me. But I will say this album cover is dynamite! What an incredible photograph, it's very compelling.

Rap, hip - hop francés.

Ihan vekkuleita biittejä, mutta kielimuuri häiritsee pahasti. Miksi eivät laula suomeksi?

it's french rap. sounds like 90's rap...in french.

Not for me. The mix of music styles was interesting and I’m sure fairly novel at the time, but this didn’t hit for me.

Much better than I expected...

Probably great if you're French. I'm not - kind of misses the point with hip hop what with it having a key focus on lyrics. Best Tracks: Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo; Caroline; Bouge de là (part. 1)

Fun at first, got a little repetitive

Panghalip.

Wat is dat toch met die rappers, in vrijwel ieder nummer zingen ze hun eigen naam. Best vrolijke rap, klonk niet echt "gangster".

I really don't hate it, I like that 90's hip hop sound. Sure I have no clue what he's saying, my 4 years of French in high school has been long forgotten. Armand est mort samples Marvin Gaye effectively. That being said I don't think I ever listen to this again.

I didn't loathe it, and never really felt like I had to turn it off. But I have no idea what's going on in the lyrics since I don't speak french, so it is, at best, background music.

Didn't resonate with me. Maybe with time I'll get it, but for now it's just eh... 2/5

i like when London got a shout out. 40/100 gecs

Feels like a bit of a token 1990s French rap inclusion. Am sure there's probably something a lot better from this era/genre that could could have been included.

Whatever. French rap that's too long and too forgettable. I'm sure he's spitting straight facts though.

This just isn't for me. Acid jazzy beats meets french 90s hip-hop. On paper it's right up my alley but for some reason I found it to be unremarkable overall. Nothing grabbed me and I was mostly just waiting for each track to end rather than being engaged by the music.

French hip hop has never been my thing ngl

Not a fan

Morno.

Erm - beats that take me back to being obsessed with Acid Jazz, but four tracks in and I've lost interest. Other people did this better, regardless of the language they rapped in

Couldn’t vibe with it, maybe slightly too erratic

Opzich wel grappig wat jazzig franse rap, maar niet helemaal mn ding

French rap

French just adds another layer of difficulty for me to fully enjoy this.

Good flow, fun beats, but lyricism is important to me and Im a dumb American who speaks one language. This is probably better music than my rating but its on how much I enjoyed it.

La verdad que no es mucho mi estilo y por eso realmente no le di bola. Están buenas las canciones y tiene buenos samples, pero no entiendo una goma de francés y quizás por eso, al ser rap, no pude darle el valor que debe merecer este disco.

Para olvidar

Not a rap fan

favs: intro l’histoire de l’art rating 0.7/5

pourquoi??

As if hip hop (c)rap is not bad enough here it’s dished out in French. Sacre blue! save me please. 1/5 10/4/26

*no stars - no music - just rap

If I can’t get to grips with rap in English when I can understand what they’re effing and jeffing about, I don’t stand a chance with this one. The only French I know is petit pois and the numbers one to three, so unless there are any tracks about counting small quantities of peas, I’m out of this round.

First time hearing French rap ! It’s really groovy. Fav song is ‘Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo’.

Day781- they lost me at french hip hop

just awful trumpets and gibberish. Honestly cannot see why this made any positive impact on music.

Unverständliche Musik, Sprache & Intention.

Hip Hop, 54 eme album => 1/5

Music truly is powerful, evoking countless emotions within the listener. Awe, rage, joy, or maybe even anxiety. Or, in the case of "Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo," sheer misery for over a damn hour. I've seen people on the subreddit complain about the Anglo-centrism of this list (as if Anglo culture doesn't dominate global culture) and thus they desire more international representation. I speak 4 languages myself, so I sympathize to some degree. I'd love to see ДДТ get some respect, for instance. But there has to be some minimum standard to add international representation and not merely adding terrible albums for the sake of diversity. Why this random French album was added, I have no idea. It's absolutely dreadful, and I wasted an entire hour of my life listening to this garbage. Of all the albums by a French artist/group to add, why hip hop, a genre of music that requires understanding to fully engage with the lyrics? Maybe this is the best French rap album ever, but it's impossible for me to say. I've listened to some of Arvo Part's "holy minimalist" works and was able to express the artistry behind it. What do I say about this? If you can't engage with the language itself, then the album should be groundbreaking in some way. The only thing "Qui sème le vent récolte le tempo" broke was my desire to ever listen to music again, especially after the crime against the ear that was "Ragga Jam." I'd rather have MC Solaar jam a screwdriver through my ear canal than listen to that song once more. Unfortunately, I have to give this album a rare and dubious "honor." Out of the 70 albums I've rated so far, it is the second to receive a single star, joining "Nixon" by Lamb Chop. On to the next one, if I have to.

French rap is not for me

Not for me. 1/5

No es lo mío

No thanks. Best songs on here are the Intro at 59 seconds and the Interlude at 29 seconds. I thought we'd get some cool jazzy music, but no ...

French is not the best language for rap.

Caroline Bouge de la

Just because it is not in English doesn't mean it suddenly does not sound like a really bad rip off of the genera.

Rap but it's fr*nch

I understand it is easier to write poetry in French, as there is a larger pool of repeated vowel endings. French words also tend to be longer and, thus, a string of French words can be more rhythmically complex. That's what I understand anyway. It's probably a good language to rap in. 1 Bof. 1.5/5

Not my cup of tea

Almost made it to the end but it was not enjoyable.

French hip hop? No thank you.

I thought I was fluent in French — as I grew up in Canada and attended a French immersion school — but I couldn't fathom a single word. Truth be told, I don't think it would've increased my appreciation towards the album.

Das übliche Gestammel!

Vraiment

C'est nul, zéro étoile serait généreux

Rubbish

Don't understand it

The main draw to hiphop is usually the lyrics, while the beat is something basic and repetitive. This album is French. Maybe French people like this, but when I don't understand the lyrics they can't add much to my enjoyment of the music, and this wasn't something I'd bother listening to again for the beat.

There better be 100 3rd Bass albums on this list

Very unlike peanut butter and chocolate

My interest in this Top 1001 is waning and it's because of albums like this that don't appear to be significant or influential. It sounds like bad 90's rap in French. Did this start an explosion of French rap that I and the rest of the world weren't aware of? Simple beats. I see nearly 10M listens for "Caroline", that's impressive, but listening to it was not. No hits, no staying power, zero influence on this side of the Atlantic. What's the draw? I wish there was an explanation on the merits of each album and why we should consider them a top album we need to hear before we die. I could've lived the rest of my life without hearing this one.

Hip Hop. 1/5

Not my vibe

I don't speak french, and I'm not the biggest fan of 90s hip hop

Okay I’m sure theres a market here but I’m neither huge on rap or understanding the french language. He seems huge in france, there is some variety with the songs and he goes FAST, but I can only give it a 1/5 I didn’t enjoy it

I can’t take french seriously. the only good song was the first one, that was instrumental. To be completely fair, instrumentally wise there were some good parts but otherwise i just felt like i was listening to noise or ads.

I guess I hate french electronic music

Ehhh another French electro album. Very repetitive, liked least of the genre I think

The only thing worse than (c)rap is (c)rap in a foreign language.

Certainly skilled. But it's not my style. I'm impatient to stop focusing on it. 1.5/5

Nah bro

Yup, this is a no from me. Not that it's bad, it's just I have a hard time listening and understanding all foreign language albums. What's worse is that I didn't even like the music that much, there wasn't anything that stood out as outstanding. 1/5

Only thing remotely interesting about this was that it was in French. Otherwise it would have just been a terrible sanitized 90s rap album. 1.5/5

French rap!!! I went into the album with a very negative mindset based on an important component to good rap is being able to understand what is said!! The music is very good and very varied. Great beats but lyrics are important to me. I cant score this album easily without knowing whats being said!

Just not my thing

rap no me gusta

Listened Before: N Nope. I most definitely did not need to hear a french language hip hop album before I died. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Intro (because it's short and he doesn't rap)

I don't know or care if it's good or not. I just don't like it.

It is a painful experience getting through hip-hop in English. In French hip-hop is completely inaccessible.

French and rap after the 80's. Not sure what I dislike more. Both can phugg off. Album released October 15th. A wonderful day. That's the best thing I can say about this album

p660. 1991. 1 star. French rap. Non.

I couldn't finish, zero connection.

I did not need to hear this before I die. Perhaps there's something in the lyrics. It sounds like a mediocre imitation of a Tribe Called Quest.

Le Hip-Hop François… ce n’est pas pour moi.

N'est pas pour moi

Why do I feel like this would be even worse if I understood the words? Okay background music while I worked, but I really wanted it to be over way before it was. Trying to employ a relative bell curve on this project, so this is going to be a 1 from me dawg. I was flirting with a 2 before Ragga Dog came on. Yikes.

This album was a total nope for me. Even the sampled Marvin Gaye couldn't save it. I don't even mind French rap so much, but the vocals, and especially the cheese ball accompanying sounds just made it impossible. Terrible album, wouldn't do it again.

I’ll be honest, the foreign language was a huge boundary to overcome and I stopped listening early on. From what I listened to, the beats and production sounded solid. However, this is not an album I’ll ever revisit.

I'm sure the lyrics are straight up fire and all that, but who in the Hells produced these boring-ass beats for him to drone monotonously to? Take any given track on this album. Listen to the first 20 seconds of it. That's essentially it. That's the flow. You'll have another 3 minutes of it. I'm listening to European mayonnaise. There's the occasional interlude between verses, maybe the loop of a woman saying "yeahh", maybe a guitar or a trumpet show up in a heroic attempt to keep me awake -- all in vain. 1/5 - "No. I hope I never hear it again."

Cool production but it was difficult to enjoy, being that I couldn’t understand a single word.

“Hmm, my list is pretty Western/English speaking… how can I change that?”

Was on French couldn’t understand the lyrics, beats were good and vibe is good.

Not really for me, all a bit of a noisy mess.

French Jazz-Rap - I think that says it all. Two of my least favourite music genres combined and performed in French!

ГАВНООООООО (это писал Евгей). Альбом слабый. Оценка 3/15.

Just not my cup of tea.

Encore une fois, je ne sais pas pourquoi c'est l'un des 1000 meilleurs disques ? Entièrement dérivé, été là fait cela. Que fumait Dimery ?

I can't do rap normally, but in French made it even more pointless. Background beats simple and uninspiring. Made it half way through most songs waiting for a decent hook before getting bored and skipping next track.

Moi non plus

Full live band in a bar, this would be great, otherwise not my jam. Caroline was the best track.

Wrong list

It's in French 🤷‍♂️

Om ett artistnamn börjar med MC så vet man att det kommer vara dåligt.

Makes me rethink my Biggie review, which I would now like to increase, but alas that is not allowed. Since I cannot increase Biggie, I must decrease this.

french

1001 Albums list needs less foreign language albums...

You guys ever experience hip hop fatigue? Cool beats but I wasn’t interested or engaged. Hip hop be the most repetitive genre fr fr Best song was La Musique

The music never transcended the language barrier for me.

unga bunga

I love plenty of non-Anglophone music, but my enjoyment of rap is so yoked to its verbal pleasures that this is, in the nicest way possible, very likely a waste of time. Especially when the only thing that's in a language I do understand is the third rate lounge rap beats.

I just found this pretty forgettable. I can't remember anything about it after listening to it aside from the fact that it was in French.

Never heard of the Artist or any of their songs before. Apparently no songs on this album have many listens at all so surprised this album made it into this list. Definitely not sure this album is my cup of tea, it's mostly upbeat French hip-hop and it sounds fine but doesn't do much for me - I feel Hip Hop loses a lot of it's impact for me when you can't understand the language unfortunately, It's probably fine for a song or two but not a whole album.

It’s a French rap album and I don’t speak French. Kinda hard to judge fairly. 1.0/10
