Great samples, moving forward from LTI and laying the foundations of things to come.
Tribal rhythms and dark undertones
At least it was over quick. Maybe I’m Amazed was the standout track, in fact the only track for me!
At least it was over quick. Average garage. Not The Ramones and nowhere near The Strokes. Lo-fi and lo-quality.
Big beats, melodies, samples. Proper Zeitgeist. Classy house/techno with an edge of thoughtful selections
Didn’t really get it at the time and still don’t really buy into it.
Drone. Occasionally melodic. Suicide was an inspired title - I considered it after listening to the album.
A proper mix of styles. Some good music with a message. Quite enjoyed it
Distinctly average with some very uninspiring lyrics, simplistic to a fault
Dull. Could have been the soundtrack to Beverley Hills Cop 3. I much prefer his earlier work.
The perfect soundtrack to a French B movie. Cool, laid back and smooth.
A couple of good songs. Some too long, some dull. She does have an iconic voice.
I thought I liked hip hop a lot. It appears I don’t. Even using Apache and name checking Flash didn’t save it for me. I thought it was dull. Lacking in purpose and emotion.
Soulful heartfelt and at times delightful.
Underwhelmed. A little bit samey. Some great keyboard work. I like it but it’s not amazing
Love it!
Pretty decent. Some nice down to earth lyrics. Good tunes and some old school sampling
A masterpiece
Lovely background electronica
Well produced. Lots to say. Just a tad dull for me.
It would have been 5 but some songs are just toooooo long! What a band, great album.
Not my thing.
Brit pop at its pomp. Full of attitude. Good times too.
Trippy art rock. Good debut with some nice bits
Some good tunes. Just find Thom a bit whiney
A classic of its time and his life
One of their best but still found myself bored by a few of the songs. Find it all a bit of a dirge.
Vic Reeves pub singer meets Jazz Club for me. Not going into my ITunes at this point in time.
One of the foundations stones of Heavy Metal. Great to hear it in its entirety for the first time.
A bit like an extended version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Some interesting vocal performances and lyrics. Heavier than expected.
Very angry. Some dark lyrics and broody songs.
I’m sure if you were there at the time it made sense. I wasn’t there.
A bit too art school new wave strange rhythms for me palette.
Always liked his lyrics. Liked this more than I thought I would. Forgotten how good ‘Desolation Row’ is.
At times funky, at times speedy. Bass runs were great with some interesting drumming.
‘Nice!’ Good musicianship
Some nice work but a bit dull in parts
What a trip that must have been.
Never heard it before. Loved it. More Zep than I thought it would be.
It’s nice background music if you’re doing jobs around the house. Fine musicians and good rhythms.
Great blues rock n roll. Proper old school with a sense of getting rockier.
Too experimental for my tastes
It didn’t really go anywhere
Easy listening vibe from the Southern states.
Some absolute classic rock tunes. Raw and dirty!
Dylan-esque folky melodies and harmonies.
Dull cosy feeling. Vibraphone solos are not my thing
Better than I expected. Enjoyed it
Absolute classic! One of the best rock albums…..EVER!
Another average hip hop album. Too many big blokes around a mic.
No
Some good, some bad. Mediocre for me. Saved the best till last.
Quintessentially British lyrics. Great musicianship.
I’m sure it was innovative at the time. Just a bit repetitive
Funky as you like in parts but a bit hot and miss. Title track was the low point. Got better from there on in
Lovely album. Great lyrics and melodies
Probably a great r n b album.
Great. Relentless.
Don’t really go anywhere.
Dull
Whimsical, bleepy, atmospheric. A bit too shrill at times. Very well intentioned
Space age electronica fit for Stanley Kubrick
A masterpiece
So nearly 5 stars. Some killer tunes and a real step forwards for hip hop.
Quality. Great samples, beats, vibes.
All filler, no killer.
Great tunes, good lyrics.
Great range of songs and cover versions. Love the vocal and the production. Suited them down to the ground
Someone’s hands must have been sore after that recording. Great sitar playing.
Sounds like a bloke I met in Piccadilly Gardens in a sleeping bag
Seminal hip hop. A little over heavy on the ego, guns and felatio for my taste but paved the way for Snoop and G-funk.
Enjoyable pop. Some great songs.
The beginnings of Heavy Metal. Brummie brilliance
An assault on my ear drums. Great rhythms and layers of build up. Brooding and menacing at times.
Sounds like a teenager in his bedroom with a Casio keyboard
Synth pop tastic. The start of a decent body of work.
The queen of Soul. Gospel inspired quality songs with a fabulous voice
Grundgier than I expected. Seemed to lack direction.
George moves away from his Wham and pop persona.
Very Senegalese. Nice rhythms.
Dad rock. Coldplay meets Snow Patrol. Some nice inoffensive tunes.
The MAN. Songs of love, women and fighting. What’s not to like. And what a voice!
Good vocal. Nice style changes.
I don’t like his voice. Some pleasant music
Some good tunes. Heavier than expected. Nice instrumentation at times
Too far out for me, man
The ultimate in smooth
Well made and great harmonies and catchiness.
More controversy than substance. Iconic and a band of an album. Too much Horn for me.
Some nice lyrics and plenty of energy
Riff fuelled high glam-ping! Go Justin!
Great stuff. What a start and finish to an album. All four elements of a proper band
Smoothness. Proper soul vibe
Good rhythms and a distinctive vocal.
And the tunes kept on coming!
Smooth Weller. A taste of better things to come. Some much more tuneful offerings, shunning the Jam energy unfortunately
Funky with some great musicianship at times. A bit too far out
Glam at its best.
Interesting
Too different for my ears
Not quite the Ramones
Glimpses of something better to come. A sound first album.
Great trumpet, cool old school jazz.
Classic psychedelic rock blues funk. No idea what the words mean but hey, it rocks!
Great idea, amazing musicianship, just a bit dull
The King he is
A more mature album than usual from the Peppers. Some bangers and more reflective tunes
Some good lyrics but never really takes off
Nice chilled vibe.
Too much MC Tunes in French
A bit dull
Great vibes, cuts and samples.
Nothing much seemed to progress or develop enough. Some good lyrics.
Distinctive vocal with some fabulous storytelling.
Great rhythms very funky.
A couple of classics and a step into a more mature rock and roll sound.
Middle of the road folk country electronica done well. Very distinctive voice. Good title track.
Dull. Great musicians but sprawling and unstructured and self righteous.
Very typical rock. A bit long at times.
A couple of bangers between mediocre fillers.
Good old fashioned rock and roll. Paving the way for great things.
Elbows finest hour
Not really going anywhere
Dark and dismal.
Hmmmm
Not hip hops finest songstress
Easily their best album. Some tunes!
Dull and lacking substance
