Reviews (page 6 of 14)

A fun and sweet Beatles record. Infectious hits with great harmonies and melodies.

It doesn't show much of what they would become. Still its a good collection of simple pop songs.

"And I Love Her" is the best song out of the whole album. A lot of the songs gave the same lovey dovey.

It's no Abbey Road, but it's still fantastic

January 4, 2026 - January 4, 2026 - I completely understand why the Beatles are like One Direction of the 1960s; however, this was my second Beatles album in a row, and as much as the songs are extremely catchy and I love listening to the foundation of the British Invasion, all the songs sound extremely similar.

The album that started the Beatles mania. At times it feels a bit twee, so tame compared with where they will go. There are classics here- “A Hard Days Night”, “And So I Love Her”. “Can’t Buy Me Love”. Oh to have been there when these songs were taking over the radio waves.

Classic - enjoyed it

Very fresh and upbeat

A classic.

Woah the no more fan mail guy has a band. But yeah it surprises me I got 9% through the project before encountering anything Beatles. I knew most the songs already and a lot of good stuff

Not my favorite Beatles album, but has some great sing along songs.

Finished in the car ride from San Antonio to Houston!

Classic

Solid early Beatles album

Pretty good, especially Can't Buy Me Love and Hard Days Night. But hey, it's the Beatles and it's their mainstream stuff before they got weird.

It’s the Beatles, it’s good, and it’s also exactly what i was expecting.

I've never been a big fan of Beatles and I thought their music wasn't my kind of thing, but this album is very catchy and has some good tracks. Overall I'm positively surprised.

Good but not the best Beatles album

this is such a different beatles experience from my previous listens and as a lover of pop I could not help but be so pleased

Been waiting for a Beatles album for a while.. a classic

A solid Beatles record, my favorite from the Beatlemania era. Amazing songs from Paul and John. The "A hard days night" chorus is phenomenal and songs like and I love her and if I fell are beautiful.

A solid early Beatles album, they had finally moved away from a mixture or original and cover songs, and while this has its weak moments, the highs are so so good such as "And I Love Her", "Can't Buy Me Love", "Things We Said Today", and "I'll Be Back". A step up from the early Beatles to more mature Beatles.

Young Pop Beatles while fun, can all blend together. Sure there are Harmonies, but I am not convinced of the singing ability of any of the Four. Maybe I am just used to the modern sheen of contemporary singing which smooths out any and all rough edges to a shiny perfection. And yes, recording is different 60 years later, but these songs all sound like first takes, or were recorded live. It's The Beatles though so any and all criticisms come from having experienced this all of my life, and experienced their widespread influence on all music.

To attempt to criticise this record for the consistency of its 3-minute bangers would be tantamount to accusing Pythagoras of being a touch formulaic with his “a² + b² = c²” material. The fact of the matter is that every drumbeat, bass line, strum, arpeggio, solo, lyric or harmony sits precisely where it was always meant to; that each verse, chorus and middle eight fits precisely where it should; that each song on this album fits jigsaw like in place; and that the album sits snugly as a cornerstone of twentieth century pop music development. It might not be the most challenging Beatles record, but some of the magic of songs like “A Hard Days Night”, “I Love Her”, “Can’t Buy Me Love” is how effortlessly they’re received. It might not be difficult to work out the missing side of a triangle – but it took a genius to make it easy.

really fw the song if I fell. nice album to just listen while drawing or painting

Nice music, what you'd expect from The Beatles. Beautiful melodies, soft guitars and voices, creative compositions. 3,75/5.

banger

Early signs of John's abusive tendencies, eh

It's the Beatles. I love it. I don't know that it's my favorite of their albums, but still better than most.

Just masterful songcraft and playing, cool experiments - folks will perhaps always argue about that opening chord. Movie's fun too.

Iconic early Beatles. This is album of songs, many I know word for word. 'And I love her' is my stand out. It is difficult to see how the Beatles would evolve to invent the album.

Very good album, has one of my fav Beatles songs - And I Love Her. I’ve listened to this album many times & always enjoy it.

their weakest album

A million things have been written about this, but it's still very good, especially considering how quickly it was made.

The film was better :-)

great album

sommige nummers kende ik al maar ik kende dit album zelf nog niet. Wel leuk, classic beatles geluid en album

All you need is love… oh baby. I wish I was alive during these age. If I could just wear nice clothes and shoes, and hang at the sugar bar and drink milkshakes and dance with the beautiful ladies I would be happy following the law of the Beatles. Love these scousers..

I don’t care what people say about early Beatles, this album is a delight to listen to.

What strikes me about this collection, now, or one of the things, is that here you really see John and Paul emerging as their early personas: Paul as the impish charmer with a gift for rhythm and melody (a la Can't Buy Me Love) and John as the tortured, jealous self-styled Brando, James Dean Lothario womanizer type (on some really brutal tracks like You Can't Do That) and it's such a schism of mood that it allows young George to come peering through the cracks here with a song or two... this is a moment where you can really see what thrilled and terrified the culture, this biblical choir with raw teen horniness at the root, angels with dirty faces, the band becoming themselves.

A really good album, I liked A Hard Day's Night and I Should Have Known Better the most.

Nice feel good love songs.

Has my favorite Beatles song, I think it’s just great

Not my favorite of their discography, but it’s hard not to appreciate their sound.

Some really good songs on here and overall great pop, can’t give it a 5 but it’s up there

Iconic songs on this one.

I actually never really give early Beatles a chance but yeh fair enough

The strongest of the early Beatles albums and a lot more structured than its predecessors: Side A is fantastic. The s/t track is energetic and powerful, if I Fell" is beautiful and heartful, whereas "And I Love Her" offers an early glimpse to the Lennon-McCartney songwriting genius. Side B is undoubtably weaker but solid nonetheless. "Things We Said Today" is simply really good.

it's pretty slow but I like it. Definitely a change from what's popular these days. Only 30 minutes too!

Not The Beatles’ best album but still very good.

I only give this 4 because the other Beatles albums on the list are better

Classic Beatles. All about holding hands and such. So interesting how in such a short period of time the Beatles evolved. Drugs are a powerful thing.

Superior to the earlier Beatlemania era album although not as influential as the mockumentary.

Is there a definitive “Beatles sound”? I’m not sure, but if there was, AHDN would be a strong candidate for delivering it. Is it their best album? Probably not. Is it their most creative? No. It is however a bridge between the more raw and simplistic covers era, and what was to come a few years later and it puts up a strong argument for being the most consistent of all their albums. It’s definitely one I enjoy in full, and that’s good enough for me.

on thanksgiving?

Can an album be too classic?

Great album by some of the best of all time. 8.9/10

Good album

A Hard Day's Night 4.3 I Should Have Known Better 4 If I Fell 4 I'm Happy Just to Dance With You 4.4 And I Love Her 4 Tell Me Why 4.2 Can't Buy Me Love 4.3 Any Time at All 4.3 I'll Cry Instead 4 Things We Said Today 4.2 When I Get Home 4 You Can't Do That 4.2 I'll Be Back 4 Score:4.146153846

That opening chord. What an iconic moment in music history. I mean, what can I say? It's the Beatles. The first Beatles album that's come up on this list for me. Is it on par with the Beatles who made Sgt Pepper, Abbey Road or The White Album? No. But it's an early incarnation of the lads, one of the first where they were working entirely with their own songwriting, and a huge part of the Beatles story. It's hard to listen to this without conjuring up black and white imagery of the Beatles hiding from hysterical fans in slapstick setups: pretending to be on the phone, lowering a newspaper to reveal a poor disguise. The film is critically acclaimed, but rewatching it recently, it's nuts. Some really strange decisions made in comedy that in the context of today make the Beatles look insane. But back then it did something different - it made the world aware of the quirky, down-to-earth humour of the four. Huge moment for the Beatles. There's a good bit of filler on this album. But it also has "A Hard Day's Night", "I Should Have Known Better", "And I Love Her" and "Can't Buy Me Love", the latter being home to one of the most iconic guitar solos of all time. George was playing a 12 string Rickenbacker guitar for a good chunk of this album, which became a staple sound of the folky rock'n'roll 60s, but he was also a key figure in popularising that type of melodic guitar solo to the mainstream. Hard to believe that they're only 2 years away from Revolver and 4 years from the White Album here, but regardless, this is the poppy version of the fab four finding their feet, during peak Beatlemania, and writing some legendary songs in the process.

Shortie. Pretty standard and poppy love themed album, Not as impressed as I was with abbey rd. 3.5

Hard because I know their music gets better

This is where "Beatlemania" started.

Chock full of classic Beatles. What a great album this was.

It's poppy Beatles. It's good, just not as good as what's to come

A classic!

Brilliance. I love singing along to these even though they seem so simple through a 2025 lens. Hard to understand in today’s context the incredible impact of this band. Artists were not writing their own songs and performing them. The Lennon-McCartney collaboration is magic.

A kaleidoscope od images all cut from the same imag swirling together.

I'm an unapologetic lover of the Beatles in all their incarnations. Here they're pop-y, catchy, and a little cheeky. It's not their best record, you can hear them rushing to get it done, but even so, a couple of all timers are in there, and you can hear their more folksy, bluesy sound starting to creep in. I also absolutely love the movie, it's delightful slapstick that is better than it should be. I'm into the cover too! 4/5.

Can’t really go wrong with a Beatles album.

It’s not the Beatles best but it’s still the Beatles. It’s very of its time and I kind of wonder if they thought they had too many songs about “love” when making it. It might not be so different from pop songs now but every song seems to talk about love.

8/10 Favorite: I’ll Cry Instead

There are a couple rough songs in this album, but the rest are great!

This was really good! Of course I have heard most of these songs, but I had never listened to this album in its entirety.

Second of the first four Beatles I’ve had in my first month. This is the best of that opening run. No covers. Lots of Lennon lead vocals. Hard to imagine at the time this was probably the best rock album ever and the best British lp since Lonnie Donegan’s An Englishman In America.

What a pleasure to listen to this album. 30 minutes of great fun with well-known tracks showing some cool and very early 60's tydpical Beatles. I dont think this is their best work but a solid 4 for me.

Always love the beatles, but this isn't my favourite one

From my humble opinion, this is the most Beatle album of the whole Beatles album list

The entirety of the Beatles catalogue is worthy of this list. This isn't their best album, far from it... which still makes it better than 90% of everything else by everyone else.

top top

2nd day of The Beatles and I'm OK with that. 4/5

Great listen. Not as packed full as their main stays but some of their top hits with some other fun ones. Still a bit in their pop era.

Given an extra star for just the nostalgia of listening to these earlier Beatles albums with my parents as a kid. Listening now 30 years later it's less enjoyable to listen to these earlier albums knowing about the later albums and also just how much else was going on at the time in music.

didnt know they have a more raw sounding sound, this is the first time i gave this album a proper listen. overall its a beatles album, but recroding is superb

I don't think this stands out for the Beatles. Can't Buy Me Love is the best song on the album for me. Still 4 stars bc Beatles.

Love it

Late-period Beatles have poisoned me against the early stuff, but you can see what's coming in some of these. Always interesting that old songs could clock in at 2 minutes and be huge hits

-classic Beatles. -radio friendly song lengths -the songs start to sound the same after a little while

It's The Beatles that my grandparents liked, before they were fun. As an album, it's not much, but it feels like blasphemy to give it less than 4 stars. I'm not a court, I'm allowed to judge based on outside factors.

Album has many of the songs I'm familiar with from this band; upbeat swinging tunes focused on rhythm guitar

Puede que sea el disco más flojo de los Beatles, pero aún así mucha gente habría matado por tener algo como esto en su carrera.«A Hard Day's Night», «And I Love Her», «Can't Buy Me Love» y «I'll Be Back».

This being the first Beatles album that is 100% originals is definitely what makes this album stand out over the other four albums in the 63-64 release cycles. The writing is really sharp pop songs and this is to me the first album that really showed a little bit more depth into their writing but still fully maintaining their beat music that made them famous. I do like pretty much all the albums that follow better than this album, but to me this was the highlight of what I call the early Beatles 9.66 ★★★★½

The first really good Beatles album, and the album were their songwriting really starts blooming. 4.5 stars

Doesn’t quite rank alongside the Best Of The Beatles but still pretty great nonetheless. The A Hard Day’s Night feature flick is also a great bunch of lads and a very worthy 1001 Film as well. The first side of the album is the soundtrack to that and the songs on it are basically all superific and timeless. The non-movie songs on the second side range from good to great but are definitely not 5 star good or great with the exception of Things We Said Today which is pretty great, virtually 5 stars great. A not too grotty 4.5 stars overall except for the woodblock on And I Love Her which is a bit grotty.

Love the Beatles, this is mostly before i really liked them tho, favourite tracks are things we said today and title track.

Man, Lennon particularly was on fire here

Not my favorite of theirs, but definitely some good songs.

An incredibly solid album in their discography that I feel like isn't brought up as much as like Help! (though I guess With the Beatles and Beatles for Sale doesn't have the edge that A Hard Day's Night in that there's a movie with the same title + tracks from the album that's in the Criterion Collection).

Evil George in the middle of the album cover 😥

Classic Beatles

30.10.25 #24 Favorite Track: and I love her rate: 7/10

Lacks variety and doesn’t have the imagination of their later work but it is still a strong set of songs, with some obvious standouts. Mercifully short after a couple of long ones too…

Much of this album blends perfectly well with other pop albums of the era, but there's little bits that stick out, the opening chord and closing arpeggio of the title track, "And I Love Her", that hint there might be something more to this otherwise all too common looking quartet of British ruffians

They make it look it easy.

Great album, start to finish. When I was young I loved the movie ‘can’t buy me love’ which might not be 4 stars anymore but that song is.

A few tracks I forgot about. Anytime at all super fun. Great album.

This is the first record I ever remember listening to. A Hard Day’s Night was my favourite song when I was 4 or 5. Now I rarely listen to these early Beatles records but there are quite a few songs I love on this one. I Should Have Known Better and Tell Me Why are standouts for me.

Great melodies. Can play with these album with a young and old people. It’s a classic

I spent most of my 22-23 year trying to finish every mission in Grad Theft Auto. This is a nearly perfect album.

thoroughly enjoyed this. I've had a glit of albums that I could not say I thoroughly enjoyed, so I'll give this a 4. beatles album rankings so far: 1. hard days night 2. with the beatles 3. rubber soul 4. white album

A great album.

111/1001 The Beatles - A Hard Day's Night Heard before? ✅ Revisit? ✅ Probably my second favourite pre-Rubber Soul records. The title track and Can't Buy Me Love are obviously great, but honestly my favourite song on the whole record is If I Fell, which is perfection. Yes, they would go on to do better things, but this is a great example of the Lennon-McCartney songwriting that they'd become known for.

Beatles is pretty awesome. Most of their albums are good, this is absolutely solid. Would rate 4.5 if I could.

Classic Beatles! Great collection of poppy 60's rock.

I assumed wouldn't like any early Beatles albums, but I was wrong. Great songwriting, Lennon's vocals are good. side one is a bit stronger than side two. Favorite songs: I'm Happy Just to Dance With You, Tell Me Why.

Man, I love The Beatles. Though I prefer their later, more experimental material, this music changed pop music forever. There’s something irresistible about early Beatles, it’s the perfect storm of charm, talent, catchy tunes, and just fun. A bit of a personal thing here, but part of what introduced me to The Beatles was hearing their studio outtakes and I hadn’t realized how many of the ones that live rent-free in my head come from the sessions for this album. Just hearing these four guy messing up and goofing off together eventually lead me to having my current near-encyclopedic knowledge of this band. Also listen in mono, it’s what The Beatles wanted. 4/5

Of all the bands in the history of music, the Beatles are among the hardest for me to say anything negative about. There might be other bands I personally like more, but I can't think of a better band to have the title of "greatest band of all time" than the Beatles. From the beginning, they had something special, and while their later albums would go down in history as some of the greatest albums ever made, you can still go to earlier albums of theirs and find plenty to speak positively about. Case in point, A Hard Day's Night! This is a pretty important album in the band's discography for 2 main reasons. Reason 1 is that this was their first movie soundtrack. I don't think we'll ever see a band get a movie deal as early into their discography ever again, so to see something like this is pretty cool and a reminder of just how big Beatlemania was. The second reason, and the more important one in the context of the album itself, is that this was the band's first album to be solely comprised of original material. That's neat! No more covers here, folks. These are all Lennon-McCartney originals, and they're pretty great. You've got some stone-cold classics in here. The opening title track is great. It's a great distillation of the feel-good energy of early Beatles songs. "Can't Buy Me Love" is also quite fun. Great rhythms there. Of course, you have some more emotional songs here too, and they're very nice. "And I Love Her" especially is just wonderful. Not every song is great, but this is a strong collection of songs all things considered. Obviously, there are better Beatles albums, and I can't call this better than something Like Abbey Road or even Rubber Soul. But I still got a lot out of A Hard Day's Night and would have a hard time calling this bad. It's the Beatles, okay? 4/5.

non sono mai stata una grande fan dei Beatles (preferisco i Beach Boys) ma riconosco la loro influenza culturale importantissima. Per questo quattro stelle

I never even seen the movie

This is American butchery I tell ya!

Massive Beatles fan but tend to steer towards the later albums. I think as an early Beatles record this is more interesting than the first couple but still not a patch on Rubber Soul onwards.

I mean, it's the Beatles.

Leuk Beatles album. Nog niet te oud of te gezapig.

just the beatles, great music for any moment. And contains whats to me the best beatles song (can't buy me love)

What a refreshing listen! I am biased; I used to listen to a lot of the Beatles, but this was never an album I gave much attention. But this album just confirms to me their talent in songwriting and their charm. To think this came out in 64 with all the shit that's been released since! Just a very pleasant, satisfying even, listen. Not every song is tip top, but the songs that are good I find great enough for them to bump this up to a 4

Another Beatles album- making four in total for me. This is my first early Beatles album, and you can tell. They definitely had the makings of greatness here, but there is an overall level of sameness and safeness to most of their songs. Still- the hits are definitely hits. Overall- good album. 3.5-4/5

This album isn’t bad. Seems like it was cranked out at break-neck speed during the height of the Beatles popularity, considering they made a movie. I learned that the phrase “A Hard Day’s Night” was a Ringo malaprop, which makes me love him all the more.

Feels more considered song writing, McCartney and Lennon maturing as writers

Classic but I like later beatles

These guys are going places, I could probably just give them all 5 stars and be fine with it but I'm sure there's a clunker or two on here, right?

Jeune Beatles est fun

Good album 4/5

Fun to listen to. Not really a great album for them, to me, but that’s not really an insult because it’s still great. Lots of ear worms. Went with “I Should Have Known Better” and “Things We Said Today” for the playlist.

It’s a classic Beatles album. It’s not their best album in my opinion, but it’s still a great album.

Not that hard.

Klassisk Beatles album, men mangler nytænkning fra senere albums. Stadigvæk en super fin lytteoplevelse

I means it the Beatles, I’ll admit early Beatles can get a little repetitive but repeating the best rock ever can’t be that bad

many ear worms on this great album

Muy bien

Copy and paste of my review of probably all the Beatles albums that will be generated in this list: Of course it's good music, it's the Beatles. But will I listen to it again? Probably not.

Consistently decent, no misses at all, but somehow lacking a bit. Maybe it's a fact the vocals got slightly annoying halfway through the album.

Solid Beatles album. Can't go wrong really.

Fun, fast-paced pop from early on in the Beatles career.

Elected to watch the full film for this one. McCartney and Lennon are both a complete riot (as is the grandfather lmao). Did not expect it to be so zany. Watched: on Erasmus. Favorite tracks: I Should’ve Known Better, And I Love Her, I’ll Cry Instead

Not their best not their worst

Okay, I'm a huge Beatles fan. I played in a Beatles' tribute band off and on for 10 years. So, clearly, I have my opinions. But, I promised myself I would listen. And it's a nice chance to reflect and see if everything holds up. Got to love that first chord. The song itself, is weirdly simple, but holds up. Harrison showing off that Rickenbacker 12 string. Which, if I remember correctly from hours of reading books and watching/listening, will make several more appearances and define the 60s sound for other bands. Go here to listen to my old band attempt it in 2013: https://soundcloud.com/thegetbackbeatles I always really enjoyed 'I Should Have Known Better' when I watched the movie as a teenager. But having to play it live for drunken punters, I never really thought it went down that well. Still, it evoked good memories, so it gets a pass from me. 'If I Fell' is sweet and whilst it took a while to grow on me, apart from the 'Just Holding Hands' line; ten on ten. The rhythm guitar in 'Happy Just To Dance With You' is bitchin'. The song, not so much. 'And I Love Her' is the beginning of Paul's ballad run (if you don't count 'Till There was You' - But he didn't write that... so, eat it). I remember reading interviews about his amazement at coming up with the Middle 8 for this. It's two chords! Not a great tune, even if the Classical guitar is a welcome addition. Being the first album to be all Lennon/McCartney originals (without giving Ringo a song!), there's plenty of filler. And now we're onto it. 'Tell Me Why', has all the elements of a Beatles song, but just sounds clumsy. Apart from the falsetto part. That's cool. And I suppose the walking baseline is alright. They should have axed this and put on 'I Call Your Name'. How it made the movie is beyond me. Yeah, yeah. 'Can't Buy Me Love' is a solid single. Next. 'Anytime at All' falls in with 'Tell Me Why'. Cool 12 string work on the solo. 'I'll Cry Instead' is much the same. 'Things We Said Today' is a snorefest. How they were touring with this in the 60s is inexcusable. It's clear John was the better songwriter at this point. 'When I Get Home' is not a strong number either. But, the attitude when singing the song, is a welcome relief. And their are some good melodies inconsistently spread throughout the song. 'You Can't do That', now that's a banger! This song should have been a single. A great 12-string riff, killer vocals and a rare Lennon guitar solo! I've got a soft spot for I'll Be Back (originally 3/4, but changed to 4/4 - you probably didn't need to know that). Nice way to end the album. At this stage in their writing career, Paul and John didn't quite have the covers to fall back on. The album suffers slightly as a result. The Beatles fan in me should give this 5 stars. But, it's really more a four star affair. 4.5 at best.

This album is like that magical late-adolescence period of your life when you are still young enough to enjoy eating burger rings and playing computer games with your friends, but you are also old and mature enough to go out drinking and chasing girls. It is Friday afternoon., school has just finished, and you and a couple of your friends are walking home to your house. Your friends are coming over to play some Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 while eating Eagle Boys pizza. Later on, a guy at your school is having a party and he has invited your whole year group to come along. On the walk home, instead of just passing by the reserve with a playground in the corner, you decide to take your shoes of and run around for a while. The weekend has just started and you have nothing but free time. One of your mates has a tennis ball which you throw around for a while. Then you all get on the playground merry-go-round and see what kind of speed you can get it up to. You're having the time of your life, and then a couple of girls who you go to school with walk past. At first, you're a bit embarrassed cos you are playing on a childrens playground, but they just smile and say they hope to see you at the party later on. You are all too excited to think. You decide to head home, and play some THPS. During one of your friends turns, he nails a Christ Air off the top of the school and everyone loses their mind. Quietly you think to yourself "Rune Glifberg doesn't even do Christ Airs in real life", but everything is just so good, that you don't even bother to raise your point. After a good session of playstation, pizza and fizzy drink, your dad takes you to the party. You stop to get beers along the way, and even though Mum said he was only gonna get you a 12 box to share, he gets you a 24 box and tells you to keep quiet about it. You get to the party and the girls from earlier in the day make a beeline for you. You spend the whole night laughing and joking around. Nothing romantic eventuates, but you haven't made a fool of yourself or been rejected. You've got one of the girls numbers and you know you can put in some work tomorrow to try and hangout alone with her. But for now, you are just enjoying this evening.

By no means is this the best Beatles album, but it is nonetheless a great example of their songwriting and performance. It covers the range of early Beatles from the rockier tunes of ‘a Hard Day’s Night’ and ‘Cant Buy me Love’ to the more reflective ‘And I love her’ and ‘If i fell’. Lennon & McCartney’s vocal blend perfectly together to deliver audio gold.

There's a decent amount of great tracks on here. Considering how stacked The Beatles' discography this is definitely an underrated cut from these fellas. I enjoy their early stuff but when you get to Rubber Soul in their discography that when shit starts getting real. Getting back my actual opinion this is great. You really start to understand why the John/Paul songwriting duo was a force to be reckoned with. Lots of charm, lots of charm, and teenage hormones. Great listen! Top 5: A Hard Day's Night, If I Fell (fav), And I Love Her, Tell Me Why, Can't Buy Me Love no bad songs 4.00-4.25/5

The Beatles swing and rock way harder here than on previous albums, smashing out a pretty raucous half hour of rock/pop/RnB/etc.etc.etc. Intuitive songwriting, tight hooks, varied moods and a great sound. Favourite tracks: Hard Day's Night, I Should Have Known Better, Tell Me Why

i like this era of the beatles, their early works are really nice and wholesome

Great turning point in their career

Not bad. They may have something.

Classic Beatles. Slick production for those times. Tight harmonies. Instantly recognisable.

"Can't buy me love" but can buy me nostalgia. I forgot how "surfer" they sound. - Niki

niet zo'n harde fan van vroege beatles, maar dit kan je onmogelijk slecht vinden

есть норм песни, но альбом не самый крутой, поэтому 4.

A Hard Day's Night - 5/5 I Should Have Known Better - 4/5 If I Fell - 5/5 I'm Happy Just to Dance With You - 3/5 And I Love Her - 5/5 Tell Me Why - 3/5 Can't Buy Me Love - 4/5 Any Time at All - 3/5 I'll Cry Instead - 3/5 Things We Said Today - 4/5 When I Get Home - 3/5 You Can't Do That - 3/5 I'll Be Back - 4/5 Average score: 3.8/5 (rounding up) it's alright. i'd even say it's good. however, i feel it was the most underwhelming of their releases i've heard so far (coming from someone who has only heard their later work). this required a couple listens all the way through to just barely give this a 4-star rating

God, that first chord. Perfect singing. My least favorite era of Beatles lyrics, but some of the best singing and harmonizing

My first Beatles’ album for this project. I love the Beatles. This is uncomplicated and unpretentious. It’s just fun and showcases why the Beatles were so huge.

Tolle Beatles Songs, nicht die prominentesten

Probably the best of the "early" Beatles albums and definitely has a couple of classics on it but, overall, I don't love it as much as the later stuff.

A classic, the Beatles building up to their best

Oh boy…

The Beatles…well, what can I really add that hasn’t already been said? They’re easily one of the most important bands of all time - and personally, I adore them. As for how this particular album stacks up to their others, I’m not sure yet. Maybe this will be the motivate me to listen through their discography in order, to really follow the full Beatles journey. What always strikes me is how much of their music I can sing along to without even trying. I rarely remember lyrics unprompted, yet with the Beatles, the words are there in my brain. I don’t listen to them all the time, but the songs are simply there—in the ether, everywhere, all the time, rent free but I don’t mind. Listening to this reminded me of the movie Yesterday, where a man wakes up after a major injury to find no one else remembers the Beatles. He starts playing their songs, and the world is instantly there for it. Honestly, it feels believable - like across any dimension, the Beatles would still be a hit. My own first real introduction to the Beatles came when I was 13, on what turned out to be my last outing with a church group. My mom sent me - probably hoping it would curb my rebellious streak - and I ended up traveling with the Pathfinders to La Paz, Mexico. On the very first bus ride out of Paradise, CA, someone handed me a Beatles tape for my Walkman. I listened to it on repeat all the way down the coast, onto the ferry to the peninsula, and again all the way home. It was Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band - and I loved it.

early beatles were so cute

Good album very repetitive first half but second half starts to pick up. Favorite song is if I fell

A super fun album that reminds you why the Beatles were popular. Still I can’t give this much more than a 4 overall as the Beatles have always been very good to me, but never a band I truly love.

4.3/that was a fun one, i can see the hype

It's 60 years old and it still sounds pretty good. None of the songs are bad. Everything on this album is 3 or 4 stars, except maybe the lyrics. Favorite song: can't buy me love

Classic boy band Beatles

The best of the Beatles' early records, the first film soundtrack, and also their first with only original compositions. This was peak Beatlemania and obviously I wasn't alive for that, even my parents were small children when this album came out. The fact that it still sounds so good is a testament of how well it stood the test of time. I have never seen the movie, maybe one day. Charmingly 60's in the best way possible. Key tracks: A Hard Day's Night I Should Have Known Better If I Fell And I Love Her Can't Buy Me Love

72/100. While it’s consistent and enjoyable, the lack of distinctiveness between this album and its predecessors makes it blur into their catalog. Not necessarily a drawback, but it could benefit from more adventurous experimentation.

A massive step up from their previous albums in terms of songwriting, introducing new elements, instruments and structures. Several classics like the title track, Can't Buy Me Love, I Should Have Know Better, If I Fell. Yeah, this is the best of their pre-Help albums.

Sehr gutes Album der Beatles, da kann man nicht drüber streiten

Très nostalgique. Évidemment, le meilleur reste à venir dans leur cas !

Early Beatles perfection. Just great songwriting and catchy songs all round (though I must say, You Can’t Do That is a bit creepy)

It's easy to see why The Beatles were such a hit. The key to their success might secretly be that there's no wasted time on any of these tracks. Every single track is under three minutes, and two of them are under two minutes. So you get punchy, catchy tunes that don't overstay their welcome. And you'd be hard pressed to call a single one "filler". Top track for me is "Things We Said Today".

Soundtrack to the film and other songs. I had to stop the song after the first verse of the song Hard Day's Night as it hurt my head it was so good. The second side leads them back to boy band era of their youth but is equally good. They are able to take these Four Season's type of songs and lift them to a new interesting level.

While not their strongest, this is still a classic just for “Can’t buy me love.”

4 stars

This is a really likeable slice of the Beatles before they got pretentious and carried away with themselves. Back when they were all about frenzied pop moppetry and the lighter side of life. It’s a pretty consistent album, and likeable in many ways. It has an upbeat spirit and the songs are simple. There is real cohesion between Lennon and McCartney, which gives the songs a consistent sound that they won’t have from Rubber Soul onwards. It’s got an energy throughout, like you can feel the mania of a million screaming fans just beyond the music. Hard Day’s Night is probably the best pop album by the Beatles, and feels like the pre- British Blues boom sixties.

Classic Beatles album. Like the rest, so many classic hits in one space. Crazy how a full album used to only run about 30 minutes and yet you still got plenty of hits.

Enjoying the Beatles more and more each time they show up on this list.

What needs to be said? It's the Beatles.

Trying to not let my Beatles bias blind me

There was a bit of a lull in the middle of the album for me but it did finish strong and for that 4.1/5

💕💕

Finally.

BEST SONGS: - A Hard Day's Night - I'm Happy Just To Dance With You - And I Love Her

Great album

Super solid album of classic Beatles music - not super exciting but very iconic of early Beatles

This is great. Young enough to be filled with their raw beat-group energy, and their broadening range and burgeoning songwriting talents are here for everyone to hear, And I Love Her' and 'Things We Said Today' stand out. John's edge, attitude, songwriting and energy are to the fore too, and he sounds fantastic. Ringo drives it along. George shines on later albums when he was given the opportunity. His song here is not the best! All that, and the most famous opening chord in pop. And a beautiful song which will forever remind me of my Dad.

It’s the muthafuckin’ boys innit!

It's the Beatles. I liked it more than Rubber Soul overall.

Not my favorite of the beatles albums but they dont have a bad one

I'm not going to treat it like some masterpiece, just because it's The Beatles, and I love them, but that's some quality 60s pop, still fresh after all these years

Nice pop. A few cheesy and just not so good songs (e.g. I'm happy just to dance with you) but some great songs too. I'll round it up to a 4 because it's better thsn much other stuff flrom the era, and of course very influential.

Shocking: Beatles pretty good

I still think my favorite album is Sgt. Peppers. But this is also very good.

Classic! The Beatles stay golden

8/10 A jewellery box of exquisite pop tunes, but it’s the Beatles so obviously. Reeks of good taste if not at the full powers of their songwriting. The drums really stood out here. Hits a ceiling of 4/5 because this type of old, pure rock doesn’t 100% do it for me. Best: I’m Happy Just to Dance With You

You know this one from the opening chord of the title song. Best "old/mop top" Beatles song and everyone knows it, young and old. Longevity, check. Throw in massive hits like "I Should Have Known Better", "Can't Buy Me Love", "And I Love Her", "Things We Said Today", "Anytime At All", plus glue tracks like "If I Fell" and "I'll Be Back". Hits, check. Yep, based on the sheer number of hits that you still hear on the radio, the groundbreaking sound they created at the time, the audience they created and still have. Impact on music, check. Not my favorite Beatles album by a long shot but solid from top to bottom. 4 stars.

Blazingly fast album, the songs are charming and done within a moment.

Solid pop album from the Beatles. Not my favorite of theirs, but easy listen. It's hard to rate some artist's albums because you know their entire body of work. 4/5

You know it’s not my favorite, but it’s very fun and you can see why the girlies were foaming at the mouth for them back in the day. Cracking up at the album cover though, is that supposed to be 4 different dudes?? No fucking way. Too bad they didn’t have frosted tips back then, maybe one of them would’ve stood out

The only reason I can't give it a 5 is to leave room to differentiate their even better later albums. But this is great. Any Time at All is my favorite song from this one.

This is a fun listen from the Fab Four. This is the music that got me started as a music lover at a young age. My mom introduced me to this when I was 7 or 8, and my tastes expanded from there. I am more a fan of later albums by The Beatles, but all of their stuff is great.

Man this had a lot of famous songs on here I really love Can't buy me love. I can't remember the movie I first heard it in. but that's brings back that nostalgia. Lot of great tracks here.

Good song writing, dated sounding as expected. Dont love the vocal doubling.

Great album

what's to say. it's da beatles!

the generator really messed up by giving me this album after i've already listened to revolver, rubber soul, sgt. pepper's, and the white album... this just can't hold a candle to those. it's earlier, poppier, dumber beatles. still good, of course, but nothing like what they'll make within a few years' time. i also must admit i only knew about 2.5 of these songs going into it. maybe that's on me, but i literally haven't even heard the titles of most of these songs until now. and they're mostly decent, quick pop tracks, just nothing all that exciting. it's beatles filler, but it's still filler. favorites: a hard day's night, if i fell, and i love her, can't buy me love, any time at all

This band is pretty good, they should be famous or something. The title track is a great opener to an album, it may set the bar a little too high for the rest (even if it is all quite good).

4.5 stars. Opens with the title track with one of the more distinctive chords in rock and roll history and is a fun time from there out. Third album is more poppy than their previous work but is a treat, as signified by my young kids getting up to dance when it came on. Fast-paced treat with a quick runtime (30 min) but full of energy.

Love the record from the 6th song (Tell Me Why) forward.

One of music's historically great albums. I've listened to this album many times before and I know all of the songs. This is their 3rd album in the "Classic Beatles" sound. There are several great/good songs. Best Songs A Hard Day's Night I Should Have Known Better If I Fell And I Love Her Can't Buy Me Love You Can't Do That I'll Be Back

The best of the Beatles' albums on this list. Hard not to appreciate the chords and 12-string guitar work.

the beatle

Finally a Beatles album that enjoyed listening to. This one doesn't sound like it's from the 60'ies but rather more modern. It's also not psychedelic like so much from that decade. Standouts A Hard Day's Night Can't Buy Me Love Any Time At All 4/5

The Beatles? Solid

It's the Beatles, it's an auto 3 star minimum. This one has some good tunes. "Can't buy me love" is one of my favorites and will be going to the playlist. ~ 3.9 Stars

a favorite - sang along with every song --- is it a five or a four? 4/5 #musicsky #albumsky #musicchallenge

Beatles fun

Really got some classics on here but not my fav Beatles album

This is an example that proves that even a "mediocre" Beatles album is still a really good album in the grand scheme of things. Compared to their first two releases, this album shows significant growth with great harmonies, catchy tunes, and overall songwriting. It still sounds like their early material with a lot of love songs, but that's not a bad thing. Overall it's a nice snapshot in time, a nice album for what it is, to show progression from album to album, and a really solid album for 1964. Peak Beatles albums would come later, however.

⭐️If I Fell

Favoriten And I love her Things we Said today Ill be back

As a non Beatles fan, it's a really good album

Not really my style but not bad

Great album. 30 minutes. Signalled pop musics arrival as a genre.

Cool album. Probably the best of that early Beatles era… probably. Gun to my head, probably.

A classic

das sind doch die vier Pilzköpfe at its best

Fantastic album. Lennons voice is really the dominant sound in nearly every song. Certain tracks had things I never noticed before like in should have known better. I had never noticed how it’s mostly just drums and bass with some guitar sprinkled in, very interesting. Heartbreakingly quick album though, but who cares. It sounds like this was recorded in multiple different studios. Some tracks are much cleaner sounding than others.

Good one. Fav Track: A Hard Day's Night. Great opener, no doubt.

I was probably musically socialised by the Beatles from birth. My parents listened to a lot of Beatles. And I still love them today. A Hard Days Night is not their best album. For me, the genius begins with Rubber Soul. I don't want to go into the individual songs now...they're well known anyway. But it's the 1st pure Lennon/McCartney album. No more cover versions. They absolutely established themselves with this album at the latest. They wrote pop history later

This is The Beatles for “small boy” me. I like revisiting this record from time to time. There are some fillers on here though. Can’t Buy Me Love is one of my favourite Beatles songs even though I prefer post “Rubber Soul” Beatles

Can’t give a 3.5 but that’s where it is for me. I understand that the Beatles are, were, and will continue to be influential, but this album just sounds like vapid 60s pop to me.

Probably my favorite of the pre-Rubber Soul Beatles catalog

Era el año 1964. Luego mejorarían mucho.

I'm very much an early Beatles fan and pretty strongly dislike their later stuff. So I figure this will be the start of one of my controversial artists. It's a good start. Love this album. Its easy to see why the Beatles got so famous based on their first few albums. All the songs on A Hard Day's Night are great. It's hard to find much fault with the album as a while. It's just good tunes to jam and sing along to. Standouts are "A Hard Day's Night," "Tell Me Why" "Can't Buy Be Love" and "Things We Said Today" I think this album is an 8 or 9 outta 10 for me. Some of the songs are more forgettable, but they all still sound good while you're listening and this is a great album for sure!

Paul is so goofy I mean just look at him George so mysterious so serious don't you love him. How rich would I be if everytime they said 'love' I got a dollar

I’m a big ol’ Beatles fan but sometimes the bubblegum songs just rub me the wrong way. Today was one of those days. Fantastic melodies, played perfectly. But if someone today wrote a lyric like “But I’ve been in love before, and I’ve found that love is more than just holding hands” we’d rightfully give them a collective wedgie. To me, the best Beatles periods are aping Little Richard and Chet Atkins (first couple records) or post-acid (Rubber Soul on). Unfortunately Hard Days just falls in the middle.

Not their best album or honestly even in their top five. Not sure why it’s on the list except the author has a hard on for anything British and the Beatles are nostalgic. This isn’t a bad album, just saying given all of the other inclusions on the list from this band, it’s unnecessary. Anyways, as always with the lads, this is nice, cheeky fun to spin when you’re in a movin’ groovin’ tune or whatever. Standouts are obviously the title track, “And I Love Her”, “Can’t Buy Me Love”, and, in my opinion, “Things We Said Today”. Great playing, writing, vocals, energy. All of it. Real stand out shit, Ringo. 4/5

Pretty good

Nice easy listen.

Gostei

Obviously great, not my fav album of theirs but some bangers

I have trouble with the Beatles because everything they do is so old hat now but a lot of it was brand new when they started doing it.

I love The Beatles. Not my favourite, but a solid listen with a couple of bangers.

Better than Coldplay

A Hard Day’s Night isn’t The Beatles at their absolute best — but it’s the sound of them getting there fast. Their third album, and the first to feature only original songs, marks a major step forward in their songwriting and confidence. The band was starting to evolve past their early pop roots, and you can hear the ambition beginning to take shape. The title track explodes out of the gate with one of the most iconic opening chords in rock history — a sonic announcement that this is a band leveling up. “If I Fell” is a standout ballad, tender and beautifully crafted, with that trademark Lennon/McCartney harmony melting perfectly in the chorus. “Tell Me Why” brings energy and urgency, while “And I Love Her” is a soft, heartfelt moment that shows McCartney’s melodic gifts were already in full bloom. It’s not their deepest or most adventurous work, but A Hard Day’s Night captures The Beatles on the rise — sharper, more cohesive, and ready to change the world.

Great but not as good as the others

Great Album. To me the overrated allegations is just bullshit. All their albums are at least good listenable which your super niche band have never done probably. Back to the album, it flows good and i like the beatles so i go with a (4.0/5.0)

I was never too enthusiastic about The Beatles, always just liked a few songs of them and that's it. However, I could not look my guitar teacher from my youth in the eyes, should I randomly encounter him in the supermarket tomorrow, if I didn't give this album less than 4 stars. So there you go! That being said, Tell Me Why and especially Can't Buy Me Love are some real bangers.

Maybe not the White Album, but still one of the greatest albums ever released. Not bad for a boy band from Liverpool.

4 maybe 5

The Beatles starting to find their feet.

Very good album. Does not overstay its welcome and hits hard with classics like A Hard Day's Night, And I Love Her, If I Fell, and Can't Buy Me Love. Would rate this 4.5 stars if I could.

Big fan of the tight harmonies and soulful elements. The Beatles are obviously iconic and have so many catchy songs.

Not my favorite of the pre-woke era Beatles albums.

It’s hard to bash the Beatles. Their songs are so tight, so well constructed that I can’t see anyone not enjoying them at least a little. Even as someone who’s not a huge Beatles fan, this is still a solid album. There’s no wasted frills, nothing that doesn’t add to the songs.

One of the best of their early period. It holds together well despite it being half soundtrack to the film and half their hits of that time. Never realized how many if the film's songs are Lennon's and he seemed to dominate the songwriting during that time.

Again not the best Beatles album imo but still v nostalgic to me as we had it in the car

Ah the teen pop days of the Beatles. Before the LSD and Hari Krishna meditation. The boring but catchy Beatles that are obsessed with young romance. A Hard Day's Night is a great album, but I do prefer the psychedelic Beatles more. This feels like the standard early 60's earworms they would play at the sock hop. It's fine. Sounds like a car show your dad takes you to when you're 7 and your parents are divorced and he thinks standing around staring at car engines in the heat is fun for you but really you're just listening to the music that is already old as shit anyway. Anybody else get that vibe from this album? No? Just me? Anyway, it's got some real bangers and a few that I can't say I've ever heard or ever care to hear again. After the 5th song about unrequited young love or how much that love makes you happy, the message runs stale. We get it. Thanks for the catchy tune.

Some well-crafted, bopping little tunes. But they lack the artistry, creativity, and magic of later Beatles. With our final Beatles album, I once again think I should have listened to them all chronologically to better understand the evolution of the band (and rock music in general along with them).

all great, doesn’t have the no skip star power of the later records.

A solid Classic overheard so much time with yet underestimated titles such as You can't do that. I remember the feeling of deja vu when I heard Kurt Cobain's (great accoustic) cover of and I love her. That's because although these song aged with maybe vocals "tto clean" and theme still mainly about teens' love.

A transitional record. At the time, it was transitioning to something that didn't exist yet. Now it is overshadowing by what came after. Half the songs have been immortalised by their part in the great Beatles story. The other half are frozen in the record before the movie, before the explosion of Rubber Soul, never included in collections, never in a montage or an advert. Both sets of songs have similar assets and detriments. The modal writing that elevates the compositions above contemporary rock'n'roll, experiments in recording and arranging, the singular vocal blend of their harmonies. Still, the lyrics are sentimental and unsophisticated (for the most part) and some of the melodies are syrupy. Case in point, If I Fell, which would be easy listening, where it not for the strange harmonic shifts - the melody is never not smooth, but chords are a pleasant surprise. The best songs - the title track, If I Fell, And I Love Her, Can't Buy Me Love, Things We Said Today, You Can't Do That - are a more prominent part of the Beatles cultural presence and that might be because they were always better or they sound better on the record because they are so familiar. The transitional record had the effect of changing everything and nothing can go back to how things were before. Some of the songs here are from that before time and the Beatles transformation ended up tarnishing them. It made me think of this from the end of Machen's The Great God Pan: "And I forgot, as I have just said, that when the house of life is thus thrown open, there may enter in that for which we have no name, and human flesh may become the veil of a horror one dare not express. I played with energies which I did not understand, you have seen the ending of it... The blackened face, the hideous form upon the bed, changing and melting before your eyes from woman to man, from man to beast, and from beast to worse than beast, all the strange horror that you witness, surprises me but little." 3.5 George Martin clearly drew on his knowledge of classical music sequencing this album; people love Beethoven, make sure the odd numbers are all good. Maybe there isn’t much more structural principle at play than that and there is certainly an imbalance between the first and second sides of this album however - what a pile of songs. This would have done rightly as a greatest hits for many other bands of the time. Even the slighter numbers tend to have something to recommend them: the weird tom hit on Happy Just to Dance…., the bizarre piano octaves on Any Time at All, the playful bass part on I’ll Cry Instead. Alright that last one was number 9 and doesn’t quite live up to the Beethoven principle. But Things We Said Today comes straight after it. 3.5/5

I learned that Hommood doesn't know one song off this album. Definitely not their most popular, but so many catchy songs. I rated this in a vacuum of only Beatles albums...

Doesn't reach the levels of greatness as their later albums but very pleasing 1960s pop songs nonetheless.

The Beatles might be my favorite band of all time, but A Hard Day's Night is not their best album by any means. While it doesn't have the same cultural influence like the White Album, Abbey Road, or Sgt. Peppers, A Hard Day's Night still feels innovative and interesting compared to other pop music of the 1960s. Songs like Can't Buy Me Love and A Hard Day's Night are catchy, but still have something intangibly exciting about them. Almost every song on the album has glimpses of what the band was capable of. A Hard Day's Night isn't the best Beatles' album, but it's impossible to tell the story of the Beatles, and modern music, without it. Best Songs: A Hard Day's Night, Can't Buy Me Love, I'll Cry Instead, I'll Be Back Worst Songs: You Can't Do That

I keep forgetting how early the Beatles were in the business. There are some unmistakable individual pieces on the album that I think are part of the Beatles sound. I didn't always like it. Now I think it's great. Nevertheless, this album is not one of my favorites despite some unique gems. 4/5

4.0 2x not my favorite Beatles album but still a good one

It’s the Beatles, classic album - ‘Anytime At All’ was a new find

not their best album

Me guuusta! Suena a los primeros Beatles pero mejor :) Y me gusta mucho 'And I love her' :)
