Niet zo goed als Parachutes, maar erg fijn album. Lang niet in zijn geheel gedraaid!

Toen dit album uitkwam het ik het weken lang op repeat gehad. Fantastisch vond ik het! Inmiddels heeft het iets in kracht verloren maar nog altijd erg sterk. Jammer dat ze tegenwoordig volledig het Radio 10 Gold / Songfestival genre omarmd hebben.

Erg Mooie plaat. Wel moeilijk om van te genieten als je weet dat ze stom geworden zijn.

I sometimes think (unfairly) that Coldplay was what pushed Radiohead firmly into the leftfield. The chronology doesn't quite work, obviously. But, nonetheless, it is interesting to note that after early material that tracked pre-Kid A Radiohead, A Rush of Blood went headlong after a stadium pleasing bombast that aligned more closely with another big album from the year 2000 – U2's All That You Can't Leave Behind. The best of this album are the songs that bookend it - the 9/11 influenced Politik, and the elegiac Amsterdam. In between, any number of above average, slightly over-polished excursions on a basic theme. I'm not sure whether A Rush of Blood...has aged well, or that it simply stands up well against the hackneyed material Coldplay have served up in recent years. Either way, it's definitely a fan favourite, a pleasant stroll into nostalgia for raging pop-pickers like me, and a perfect introduction for the 15 year old who doesn't understand what Coldplay did to deserve the platform they have today.

I think The Scientist is a great song, and I quite like Chris Martin's voice. Its a watered down Radiohead really though isn't it, with the same style but none of the substance

It's great snoozic (if that's not a word, then it should be). I did enjoy one of their songs once (the one about Roman Calvary singing) but that's not on here sadly.

One of my favorites. Great album to work to, to sleep to, or to listen. Really takes me back. Solid songwriting and musicianship. A master pop album.

**2000's** I was just a kid. All those alternative rock one hit wonders amuse me. Forget about that guy rapping about mom's spaghetti, we have songs about being numb, being here without you, being asleep in September, going wherever you will go, having to go and make things so complicated, and of course, crying when angels deserves to die. I have no idea how incredible the '90s were when it comes to alternative rock (aside from something about being a creep, I guess), but nonetheless I enjoyed the 2000's much. . . A couple of buildings from a big country just got destroyed and everyone was talking about it. . . And what's this song about... nobody saying it was easy? It's pretty boring. *2020's* "A Rush of Blood to the Head"? Sounds stressful. The fact that it came from a band that I did not care much about didn't hel- Oh boyyyyy! ♪ ♪ ♪ ♪ Okay. First of all, this is amazing. Coldplay is not as bad as I thought they were, lmao. My only issue is that the every single is on the first half. I've heard some other albums that are like that. Unsurprisingly, the first half is incredible, 5/5 in this case. But the second half? Usually hit-and-miss. Still, what a unique experience. . . I guess it's called "A Rush of Blood to the Head" because it can blow one's mind.

Instant classic, one of the well defined albums of Coldplay that makes them who they are now. Politik - Chill start in the album. Beats Instrumental sets the stone. Voices supplement the overall mood that the song is portraying. Great buildup midway of the song

okay this album was actually really good I would call myself a Coldplay fan (because the fanbase is pretty annoying) but I can say that this album is a 10/10 and I started listening to it being biased against it every song just performs exactly the way it’s supposed to, it’s really well done still I don’t think I’ll listen to these songs in my free time, I can still value the work that went into this, creating such a high quality product

Well now I've listened to a Coldplay album. It was as I expected from what people have said. It's nice enough. I see why people like it. There's just nothing to grab on though, so I'll leave that behind...

Bored. Very bland. The one inch I'll give this album is that it's not technically bad and it's a major part of the sound of the decade in which it was released. Hot take: if this isn't already considered dad rock, it will be soon.

With this project I find it hard to break away from the nostalgia of albums I loved in younger years. Conversely it's the same to listen to music of bands I hate. I tried but it's still shit. The music is dull the lyrics are so ernest I want to barf . His vocals are those of a bored supply teacher. I hate this so much.

A dark, brooding LP wrapped in layers of production. Probably the group's best effort alongside 'Viva La Vida'

Musically good but I hate it.

Damn, what a start to this album - the 5 song combination of 'Politik', 'In My Place', 'God put...', 'The Scientist', and 'Clocks' is incredible, and shows Coldplay (at least this version of Coldplay) at their artistic and creative peak. Fortunately, while the remaining 6 tracks on the album don't hit quite as hard, they're well worth a listen, particularly the touching acoustic track 'Green Eyes'.

Soulful, fun music to listen to. Deserving of the accolades and awards.

I couldn't even make it two full tracks in. I wanted to give it a more thorough listen and lay out all the reasons why Coldplay is boring music for boring people, but life is too short to waste listening to Coldplay.

I wanted to like this album. They had a big sound to many of the songs but they get a bit repetitive and one song is just like the next. Some of the lyrics were pretty pedestrian and seemed just thrown in there. Nothing terrible. Best songs are the scientist and Amsterdam.

Simple string arrangements provide a soothing background to a number of tracks. Chris Martin’s lead vocals are strong enough to deliver both the message and the music. Several of these songs could well find their way onto playlists for background while you work. “Don't ever say you're on your way down when God gave you style and gave you grace And put a smile upon your face” Yes. Clocks is an outstanding song, but the rest of the album passed me by. I don't remember a single line, just a general irritation with Chris Martin's vocal style (octave jumping using falsetto)..

I tried, I really did. I tried to overcome my preconceptions, I tried to listen to it all the way through, I tried to ignore my loathing for this lame and loathsome nonsense. I was right all along. Hated it.

I wanted to not sing along, but they're so.... bloody... NICE! Grrr. Coming in here with their good intentions and catchy tunes.

Oh FFS, not Coldplay!! To be fair, I listened to the whole album, it was alright, but not sure it's a "must hear before you die" though.

I think this was said about U2 or some other band (maybe it was Coldplay as well) but because they became so "meme-ified" and main stream, you forget they had to be good first to go big. Very surprised at how much I enjoyed the album, especially the tracks that I hadnt listened to before

Feels weird liking Coldplay so much after despising them in HS. I think that's the cost of listening to their later, overplayed successes. These initial albums make me understand why they got so big. I like this more than parachutes. Feels more than a 4, but not a five. I'll say 4+ and Coldplay can be thankful for that.

Really good, if a bit samey. Politik, the scientist, and the title track were stand outs for me. Kind of odd to listen to it just as their new album is released.

They obviously appeal to a lot of people, just not to me. Boring ass music.

The real heroes here are the sound engineers. This album is ridiculously lush, it’s a joy. Unfortunately, this album still somehow feels less than the sum of its parts. I liked every song. Hell, some I even loved. But together as a single listen it gets very samey, very quick.

Coldplay always falls into an uncanny valley of "this is so boring that it slips back into enjoyable" like a dreamy drone of sorts. This album includes great tracks and overall is very listenable, but can get tired in one sitting.

After Parachutes Chris Martin had a realization. Why worry about interesting meaningful lyrics when you can just write a simple hook (Yellow was the most successful song from Parachutes) and let a 3 year old child write the lyrics. This is where they became the kings of the hook. During Clocks you can hear the exact second where they gave up on doing anything worthwhile musically and sold out to the masses. 2/5 as the hooks are quite catchy tbf. Lyrically Chas and Dave have more value.

I'm not a Coldplay basher but does get a bit dull in parts. The scientist is excellent

Parachutes es un disco de mejores canciones, al menos más bonitas. XO fue el último manotazo antes de ahogarse. Nadie dijo que los 1000 discos serían todos buenos.

It's Coldplay. Bland and repetitive.

I'm not mad about Coldplay but this is a really strong album. I'd listen again and would probably stretch to at least £4.99 in a charity shop. 3.7

This is an album I’ve always heard singles from but never listened to all the way through. I’m glad I finally did because it’s a really good album. It definitely is different from parachutes and is more upbeat and uses piano/electric guitar more. Solid album from start to finish. Fav songs: scientist, clocks, god put a smile upon your face, politik

Another in the long list of bands who were very well-known during certain parts of my adult life yet I somehow missed entirely. I do remember the album cover -- it would've been a CD back then -- and how much I loved the artwork. Still do. I started listening to the album with a bit of concern that I'd have too many biases against them to really hear the music (I might be wrong, but this seems to be a band a lot people love to hate). It didn't seem to matter. I enjoyed the album and some of the tracks are particularly good. I was familiar with a few songs, probably from hearing them in public places, but I really hadn't heard most of these. I like the seeming simplicity of their songs that have more going on musically than meets the ear. I expected this album to be more straight-up pop music (there are those biases again!), yet I heard a little more darkness and layers in it. Good album.

I don’t necessarily love or not love Coldplay but as I’ve reviewed the other album(s) their music takes me back to high school era days very distinctly. Points for that

Going to be a bit more generous here as it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Found some of the lesser known songs (Green Eyes, Amsterdam) decent enough. Very much their creative peak.

There's an overwhelming preconception that Coldplay are musical beige... it doesn't help how overplayed a lot of the singles are as background music on lightweight UK TV shows to elicit any kind of emotion. Despite this there was a lot to like for me here (I hadn't heard Amsterdam, God Put A Smile on Your Face or Warning Sign and all three were highlights). The Scientist is undeniably moving in its simplicity, but there are only so many mid-tempo torch songs a listener can stand before they all start losing their impact and smudging into each other. Still, imagining hearing these songs for the first time, in context from a fledging young band, made me enjoy Coldplay more than I perhaps ever have.

I'm biased because I'm a massive fan of the old Coldplay but I think this is a great album. The lyrics speak to me on a different level. The simplicity and tone of the music and vocals just hits the right spots.

reminds me of my college days

I've said it many times, and I'll say it again. Coldplay has 3 perfect albums, and this is one of them! Incredible songs all the way through, with lots of variation and genre blending. A thoughtful progression of tracks and sounds.

Faccio coming out: mi piacciono i Coldplay. Ciò che mi piace è essenzialmente la loro semplicità. Semplicità che non intacca la loro personalità, infatti sono inconfondibili (e forse questo è anche grazie all voce di Chris Martin). Negli ultimi 10 anni sono diventati un po' più mainstream, ma secondo me è dovuto più al loro processo di invecchiamento che a delle scelte puramente commerciali. In quest'album, non ci sono canzoni che reputo brutte, ma alcune mi piacciono di meno (ad esempio "Green Eyes" e "God put a smile on you"). Altre canzoni presenti in quest'album, delle quali probabilmente siamo saturi, io le trovo perfette (ad esempio "The Scientist"). Voto: 4.5

Farò un grosso sforzo per essere obbiettivo nel mio giudizio visto che i Coldplay rappresentavano la musica che ascoltavano quelli che non capivano niente di musica secondo i metallari (quale ero io in quel periodo) e quindi ho sicuramente forti pregiudizi. Premetto col dire che è stato un ascolto piacevole, anche molto piacevole a tratti. Chris Martin penso di poterlo apprezzare molto più ora di un tempo e devo dire che la sua interpretazione dei pezzi mi è sembrata tra gli elementi più forti del gruppo. Anche alcune soluzioni di arrangiamento o alcune chitarre le ho trovate molto attinenti ai miei gusti. Il problema però è che questo disco incarna due anime e a volte sembra schizofrenico. Questo aspetto coinvolge tutti gli elementi come anche la produzione che su certi pezzi suona indie e su altri (In My Place) suona molto mainstream. Questo album a me sembra in bilico, le influenze ci sono, la visione artistica è forte, la creatività non manca, però... Sì sceglie spesso la strada facile. Sto album ha il piede sul freno. Certi pezzi chiaramente sarebbero potuti andare in altre direzioni ma non ci sono andati intenzionalmente per renderlo accessibile. Lo dimostrano pezzi come "A Whisper" che secondo me è di gran lunga il migliore dell'album. Il resto vola sempre, sembra volutamente, basso. Però stiamo parlando del secondo album cazzo, troppo presto per annacquarti. Suona tutto come una versione da supermercato dei Radiohead (Andrea forse mi odierà per questo). Non lo so, dopo due ascolti come dicevo mi è piaciuto, è stato piacevole ma soprattutto è stato piacione e quando nella musica vuoi fa il piacione io non mi sento di premiarti pure se magari ti ho apprezzato più di altri.

La ricetta Coldplay è sentita e risentita quindi le orecchie sono talmente sature che è impossibile stupirsi per le loro canzoni più famose, però il problema che ha questo disco è che tutte le altre canzoni meno famose sembrano seguire una formula simile. Anche i pezzi più intimi sfociano praticamente sempre nel ritornello con muro di suono facendo risultare l'album noioso. Questo disco è un 2.5 che però mi sento di punire perché avevo aspettative più alte essendo disposto a mettere in discussione i miei preconcetti.

Loved it

I'm not in a Coldplay mood really. This is the second album of theirs so far and the other was way better than expected, but this morning I'm in the mood for abrasive death metal or rap, not this lol. In any case, I've heard the hits from this before; I'm pretty sure this was their breakout album. I don't hate the band (or Chris Martin), but it just feels like they heard post rock and diluted it with U2 until it was radio friendly. The singing is the low point, no way around it. He rarely raises his voice above a whisper. Lyrics are practically meaningless, just introspective high school poetry stuff. The music isn't too bad, mostly kinda dreamy guitar licks with the reverb and delay dialled up, although it's pretty repetitive - as you'd expect something with a post rock flavour to do, I guess. It has to get a 3, even though it's a bit so-so and drags on almost an hour - another one that falls in the "too inoffensive to hate on" bracket. 3/5.

Its alright, it goes on a bit, as i listen to it i can image in parallel worlds people in wandsworth necking white wine around the kitchen table and talking about that time they went to a live gig and in another chris martin counting his spotify royalties whilst idly penning a tweet telling other people how to live Tbf this was the album they made before falling completely into the chasm of being superstar nobs so most of the tracks are still very listenable...clocks, the scientist and in my place are all great songs but its hard for me to listen to it without going to a mental place where chris martin is a nob and coldplay are boring which is a shame as this and 9parachutes were great in their time.

Lots of good songs

Some good songs, but the album really starts to drag towards the end.

The last great album from this band. 'Chutes taught me that I should start opening my mail, looking at nutrition labels at the grocery and tucking my t-shirt into my jeans. But Rush of Blood taught me the only thing constant is change and nothing is perfect forever. Cracks started forming with The Scientist, Green Eyes and A Whisper and it became evident to me that tucking t-shirts into jeans is not comfortable and food tastes better when you don't look at nutrition labels. So I had to say goodbye...

I’ve never been a fan of Coldplay but also never really listened to them, so in a strange way was looking forward to this record to either surprise me or confirm my dislike of them. Good lord they are the most boring, whiny, self indulgent band of all time. I will never understand the appeal of this band

better than i expected

The ending to Politik sets the tone for the rest of this beautiful album. The Scientist and Clocks back to back have no right being that good. A Whisper is the only track on the album that I don’t care for and would skip the next time I listen to. A Rush of Blood to the Head is haunting and another god-tier track. Coldplay has helped me get through some tough times during life and when I’m in the dumps, it’s unbeatable. For where I am in life now; I’d say it’s a great album and that’s what I’ll rate it as.

The instrumentals are good, the voice is good but the two mix together to a very limited degree, somehow. Well-polished overall but doesn't excel in anything particular, which is always what I am looking for, primarily.

I have given a 3 because I did enjoyed the album but probably won’t revisit it. I enjoyed songs such as: In my place, The scientist, Clocks, Daylight and Green Eyes. However I think that the majority of the other songs were pretty average so sort of brought the album down.

Can't believe I've never listened to this all the way through before. It's aged extremely well. It's quite soft edged, but has a lovely texture and layering to it. Obviously some of the songs i have heard 1000 times before becuase they were played to death as part of adverts or on the radio, so they have lost their impact, but "Politik" is a really strong way to start and album, a real statement of intent, and Amsterdam is a perfect way to end it as well. And having only heard the melody for "God Put a Smile Upon Your Face" from the Mark Ronson version, it was nice to hear the original, and just bask in its glory.

I'll forever love their first 3 albums before they took a much more commercial formula into the studio. Politik. Just wow.

They didn’t live up to their potential, but their early stuff was quite good. Not revolutionary or ground-breaking, but I’ll take their early 2000s stuff over some of the pop-radio-friendly rock that came just before and just after them.

A few standout songs, but generally underwhelmed.

I think it's easy to forget today how impactful this album was when it came out. It was the first piano-driven contemporary adult rock album to hit the mainstream in a long time. I think it's also easy today to mock Chris Martin for his past ties to kooky Gwyneth and his aging hipster brand. But truth is, he was helping to invent that brand at the time. His soulful, poetic lyrics are worlds ahead of what many other 25 year old pop stars write (yes, I'm looking at you, Tay Tay, but not just you!). The trance-synth sound of the band is just the chill groove a lot of people were looking for after having "survived" the turn of the millenium. Sure, there are a couple of clunkers on this album, but Clocks was an awakening anthem for it's time, and The Scientist and In My Place are prime examples of the genre this album helped to create/cement.

Ok I generally don’t love Coldplay but I really do enjoy The Scientist and overall I’m not opposed to how mellow this album is. A nice calming background music for working today.

Really refreshing to hear mega-smash singles like “Clocks” outside of their cultural-dominance era to appreciate them for the great pop songs that they are. It starts off with the worst song (which could easily be cut) and there’s nothing quite as good as “Yellow,” but I was digging the understated production and better-than-I-remember songwriting. A really pleasant listen, and I mean that in a good way. Probably an uncool opinion. Who cares

Coldplay fits the role of the non-offensive band o the 2000s. Mom can put it on while you travel to soccer practice. It rarely comes across as authentic because it is just too polished. Some songs can be catchy though. The Scientist is my favorite song from the album and I can say I like it. Clocks is tolerable. The rest are forgettable. 5/10 - positives are that it makes good background music and okay driving music.

Hard to get over my Coldplay prejudice for this one but maybe I'm prejudiced for a reason. Martin's voice whilst distinctive was also a precursor to a string of whiny self important singer songwriters of the early noughties (Martin himself has hilariously played up to this stereotype on a number of occasions) and there is now something ploddingly middle class and middle aged about this type of music.

Enjoyed this after some initial trepidation. The songs can't be questioned.

Coldplay’s best album, a really good collection of songs

Like they set out to write the soundtrack to a series of DIY SOS. Which is fine, I guess, after all DIY SOS is a very popular show. I just find the album so dull and one paced and I struggled to differentiate between most of the songs. It’s not without its highlights (God put a smile upon your face for example) so was torn between a 2 and a 3 but I just cannot see me ever choosing to put this album on again so it’s gotta be a 2 for me.

Decent but not a classic.

Barely a weak moment - a band at their peak. Politik sets the bar really high from the off and it flies from there for me. God put a smile on your face, Clocks, The Scientist, Warning Sign. A couple of weaker moments but it finishes on a total high with A rush of blood to the head being another standout track - an easy ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

One of the great album of the naughties!

This one's just not for me really. Hard to explain why. There were some really catchy bits, and it's nice music, and is like, modern, well produced rock. I think it's something about the individual instrument parts not standing out much, and just sounds like a wall of gentle pop rock that's there to give movement and energy to the singer but not trying to do anything else. I'd compare this to the album by Travis, but the guitar parts and everything stand out more in Travis. The singer of Coldplay is pretty good to be fair, but just not that excited by what he does with his voice, mostly good but the vocals can be quite dreary.

I was originally upset that I had to listen to this, but it's really not as bad as I thought it was. Half sorry Coldplay haha

Very listenable but I have some irrational bias against them

Coldplay gets a bad rap for being bland or corny but these songs are compelling enough to me that I enjoyed the album quite a bit! Varied songwriting and solid hooks that keeps the runtime fresh, exceptional production that plays to that songwriting, and a few hit songs to keep things fresh at the halfway point. My biggest problem, however, is the runtime. A couple of songs in the back half could easily be axed to allow for a more digestible album, but instead it ends up feeling a bit bloated and kills the momentum near the end. The CD era of albums is certainly to blame for this, but alas.

When Coldplay were top of their game, they were pretty good. I’ll save my 5 five for Parachutes

First half good, second half bad. Gave me good mems of Glasto 2005 so it gets an extra star for that.

This album is a reminder of why people could have claimed Coldplay as their favorite band at a time and place while still being taken seriously. That being said, this album already shows some of the worse that Coldplay would become. I think it’s a reminder how difficult it is to listen to this album with fresh ears in a world where Coldplay has become all that they are, with the myriad of knock-offs and sell-outs who have copied the formula that is in its early stages in this album. Songs like The Scientist and Clocks are really difficult to place in this album because I have heard them so very much outside of the album. That shouldn’t be a negative, but it makes it hard to appreciate the album as it is. 
 All in all, it is a good album with some pretty great songs (among them are both The Scientist and Clocks). I don’t think it is the greatest album ever and it still lapses into the sort of hyper-simplified pop balladry that Coldplay has since become well known for. 5/10

I find the popularity of Coldplay's dull music kinda irritating. Has anyone ever said "I got into music and formed a band because of Coldplay"? But to it's hard to knock the accessibility of their songwriting and ignore some of the megahits on this album. 7/10

This album passed me by. Some of their big hits that took me back to the two hours of my life I rated Coldplay were quickly forgotten as the album moved on to averageness. 4/10 so a 2/5.

I just enjoy Coldplay. Good band that is easy to listen to

I went ahead and listened to parachutes yesterday already. I really enjoyed those first two coldplay albums and I listened to them often while I was in the Navy and on those long drives between Ohio and Virginia. They were great albums for getting lost in and singing along with unintelligible falsetto. Their third album didn't strike a chord with me and so I stopped following them. Their lyrics always seemed like they were trying to be deeper than they actually were. I think that's often the way with popular music. Coming back to them twenty years later I have to say I much prefer the sound of parachutes over a rush of blood to the head. Though, I was carrying a torch for a green eyed lover at the time.

Maybe the best coldplay album i've listened to? but also not great even at that.

2.4 + Had a burned copy of this in 2002 when I was going through a tough breakup. Initially some of these songs hit well but after about a week the goopy sincerity and simplistic song structures and lyrics began to grate. This is a Paulo Coelho-esque, universalist, "we're-all-in-this-together" soundtrack, where the songs paint a very basic emotional landscape - vaguely sad, vaguely longing, vaguely hopeful - such that anyone can fill in the broad strokes with their own flourishes and colors. It's lowest common denominator music aimed at drawing a broad swath of listeners, likely those with less discerning musical palates who seek affirmation in music and eschew any challenge. I imagine it also helps if your English language skills are still developing - Chris Martin's voice labors deliberately through stanzas of simple words, enunciating every "F", "C" and "S." Here's another album that makes me question the premise behind this exercise - is this really an album to hear before I die??

Highlights: God Put A Smile On Your Face, The Scientist, Daylight I've always thought of Coldplay as the alternate-universe version of Radiohead that continued to explore the Pablo Honey sound and style; and surely there is room for both versions. As such, I never understood the hate that Coldplay gets...They're one of the biggest acts in the world and every one of their albums top charts. For good reason, too; Chris Martin's instantly-recognizable voice is the backbone of every song, accompanied by Buckland, Berry, and Champion, every song feels bigger than the sum of its parts, but not overwhelming. God Put A Smile... is enrapturing and captivating, probably one of the band's strongest cuts, but then it's followed by The Scientist, which is almost as fantastic. Clocks and Daylight at the crest of the record keep the highs going...Near the closer is the title track which also serves as an apt description. Rush of Blood might be peak Coldplay, but it would be be a disservice to the listener to stop the journey here.

I feel like a lot of people are overly critical of Coldplay, more so than they need to be. These seem to be the same people I get into arguments with about the importance of pop music. Anyway, this album reminds me of a very specific time in my life so I can't help but like it.

Este disco me lo regalaron mis padres. Son 5 estrellas solo con ver la portada de nuevo. El primer tirón del disco es impresionante: Politik, In my place, God put a smile upon your face, The scientist y Clocks. 5 obras maestras del pop. Y por no hablar de "Green eyes" con ese toque folk-country-americana music.

Que no se diga... Escuché con atención una hora de Coldplay... DOS VECES. Tenía la percepción de Chris Martin como alguien que se dedica a hacer música fácil, melosa, sin matices, sentimental a madres, de tullido emocional dolido, digamos el tipo de concierto que le llamarían el W40 pa la novia. Escucharlo por un lado confirmó mucho mi percepción, aunque sí tiene algo que ha hecho a fin de cuentas que ha durado más de 20 años haciendo dinero de esto; pareciera que tiene este tipo de música hecha una ciencia. Las canciones como tal incluso podría decir... no son malas, al menos no todas; el mayor problema es que todas son iguales. Es un disco plano, sin matices, nada sube, nada baja, ni el tono de voz, ni el tema de letras, ni el ritmo. Es un sonsonete "agradable" inofensivo que puedes poner de fondo. Escuchar un disco entero se me hizo muy cansado. Los sencillos que conocía, In My Place Clocks y The Scientist... canciones que están tan embebidas en el breviario cultural que en algún momento por reflejo te das cuenta que ya cantaste "Nobody said it was easy." Es música aunque suene contradictorio está muy bien hecha pero ni me jala ni puedo respetar por lo repetitivo y plano que es.

Ah, this takes me back to when coldplay debuted the album. I had this and "Bleed American" shuffled for like 6 months straight. While a great album at the time, it doesn't hold up much, imo. The lyrics are basic, kinda repetitive, but the thing that still kills are the instrumentals. Best song on the album is "Warning Sign", the rest, while musically great, are meh.

This is a great album. Coldplay’s overplayed hits & media personas may lead one to lose sight of their innovation and artistry. ‘The Scientiist’ is cleverly crafted and executed perfectly. The album’s concepts and sequencing are very well thought out - great opener with a touch of turmoil, plenty of soaring chorus builds bathed in reverb, and somehow the sparseness of the guitar makes it that much more impactful. On a personal note, I will never forget performing Green Eyes’ at my friends Rob & Peggy’s wedding.

Escuché mucho este disco hace ya casi 20 años, concierto incluido. Me pasaba que el inicio es muy bueno pero después de Clocks me perdía. Pese a lo quemado de varias canciones fue bueno reencontrar esa primera mitad. De la segunda mitad se salva A Rush... porque me gusta la letra. Siento que es sí es un disco característico de su época aunque no sé realmente que tan influyente sea en la música de los años posteriores. Las demás canciones no son malas, sólo no figuran mucho. Say what you want about Coldplay, their second studio album is fantastic. Ignoring the overplayed popular hits like The Scientist and Clocks, this album is just banger after banger. I am a Coldplay stan though so maybe i'm biased here. The first track Politik sets the tone and is a great opening. The closing track Amsterdam is one of my favourites, I love the crescendo at the end there. The weakest track IMO is A Whisper, but it's still great.

I don't think I've ever listened to a full Coldplay album before. Not exactly my cup of tea, though I didn't find it unpleasant. A little monotonous in tone?

Estoy convencido de que ColdPlay fue el grupo representativo de los 2000's. Aunque varias canciones tienen un tono melancólico, tienen a la vez mucha energía y pasión. Es música que anuncia el comienzo de un nuevo milenio, aunque después como que perdieron el rumbo y se descompusieron, a mi gusto.

No me encanta Coldplay y siento que este no es su mejor disco, pero sí el más representativo de lo que hicieron al principio del siglo. Los sencillos están tan quemados que con Clocks ya instintivamente espero que entre la versión de son cubano; en cambio las que no fueron sencillos son tan aburridas que obviamento no eran material para hacer algo más con ellas.

Wow, I'm really impressed. This is sort of like what Radiohead might have ended up doing if they had kept their The Bends-era sound. Occasionally it was a little poppy for my tastes, but if I did a PCA on this there's no way it would end up in the John Mayer cluster. Anyone who thinks it's uncool to like these guys is a moron. Best song: Daylight (although there are quite a few to choose from). Musically dense, and I'm a sucker for the combo of strings and loopy bass.

Listening to this is a reminder of just how deeply the singles embedded themselves in pop culture in the '00s and '10s. As radio-friendly rock/pop music goes, it's pretty quality; But the wave of British music which preceded it is strictly better as far as I'm concerned. The back half of the record, in particular, tends to be too melodramatic for the band's sound to support.

I just can't get into Coldplay. So boring.

Great album. The last one of theirs I really cared for.
