Amazing. Developing the velvets sound to another level. Peak indie before indie existed.

A true work of creative genius. This album will be held in awe centuries from now when all but a fee of these thousands of albums have been forgotten. Vital and important.
It’s 50 minutes long. I could only hack 40. It sounds like kurt in drag but saccharine sweet and over produced. Maybe Kurt sounded like her though. It reminded me of when I used to think Latoya Jackson was Michael in drag.
A disappointing start to my 1001 albums daily listening. Nostalgic middle of the road easy listening.
I’ll paraphrase her ‘she’s just a bad jayzee’

80’s tastic. Done better by others
Run to the hills is the highlight of an otherwise tinny and empty sounding album. needs more umpf.
Twee beyond twee. Each song seems to include a break down ending over spaghetti mixed guitars, pretending punk chaos after frankophile bile. The teo highlights are the bizarre malicious cover of Black Sabaths Iron man and that the album mercifully is only 39 minutes long.

Oh god please no. I lasted one and a bit songs. What is this???? Penance??
Amazing voice but it all sounds a bit samey to me.

Epic. I now understand where the flaming lips got all their licks from.
A very worthwhile trip back to britpop. When it’s overdramatic it’s at its best.

Beautiful.
Samba. Not arsed.
Morrissey is a bad person.

Naff
Every indie alt rock song pretty much ever is seeded here.
So much warm and breadth from a voice and a guitar. His words are an orchestra.
I can smell the white powder dripping off this.
Wow just wow!!!!
Even the first song-Teenage Riot- deserves 10 stars.
Only for the nostalgia. I was there in Brighton when this all kicked off. It was fun. Big fun. But it’s not a record that holds it’s quality. Disposable.
Bookended by two giants of songs. Ginme shelter and you can’t always get what you want. The rest of it is not worth the bother.
5000 stars.
Offensive misogynistic insel juvenile rape celebratory waste of sound vibrations. The worst of what is mistakenly called music. Should not be in this list.
