Reviews (page 9 of 14)
Man, I do NOT love SP at all - I think Billy Corgan sounds like a whiny brat about 95% of the time. HOWEVER, this is such a pivotal album, and it has two songs on it that I actually love in spite of their singer (Today and Mayonaise, even overlooking that it's spelled wrong), that I feel compelled to graciously rate it over the midpoint.
This album was a real grower for me. First couple times I heard it I just enjoyed the big singles like 'Cherub Rock' and 'Today' that i was familiar with, but most of the rest felt overly long and not too interesting. Over more listens I've really come to appreciate it a lot more, 'Soma' is maybe the only weak spot on the whole thing for me, and even that's not a bad song. Most of the enjoyment now comes from that insane fuzzy guitar tone that just smothers the whole album, it's like wearing a nice fur coat over my ears. Other highlights are 'Silverfuck', 'Hummer', 'Mayonaise', and the gorgeous closer 'Luna'. The longer songs do start to open up eventually, so don't be shy to give it a couple more listens if it doesn't hit you immediately.
Allegedly one of the greatest albums of the 1990's, but not, in my opinion, stand-out great, although I quite liked the album. Alt-Rock / Grunge, very reminiscent of Nirvana, perhaps not surprising given that they shared the same producer. I quite liked "Cherub Rock", "Soma", and "Silverfuck".
Lyrics: Corgan's lyrical prowess on "Siamese Dream" is both evocative and enigmatic. The album is rife with introspective and introspective themes, tackling love, alienation, and the turbulent journey of self-discovery. Tracks like "Today" and "Disarm" showcase Corgan's ability to infuse personal experiences with universal emotions. The lyrics often veer towards the abstract, providing listeners with a canvas to interpret their own meanings. However, at times, the cryptic nature of the lyrics may alienate some listeners who prefer more straightforward storytelling. Music: The musical landscape of "Siamese Dream" is a sonic tapestry that weaves together lush, layered guitars, intricate melodies, and dynamic shifts in intensity. The band's use of unconventional tunings and intricate guitar arrangements, notably on tracks like "Cherub Rock" and "Hummer," set them apart in the alternative rock scene. The album's sonic palette, characterized by heavy distortion juxtaposed with delicate acoustic moments, creates a captivating contrast. Corgan's distinctive vocals, alternately tender and explosive, add another layer of complexity to the musical experience. However, the density of the sound may be overwhelming for some listeners, especially those not accustomed to the wall of sound that is a hallmark of the album. Production: The production on "Siamese Dream" is a masterclass in layering and sonic manipulation. Butch Vig's expertise, honed through his work on Nirvana's "Nevermind," shines through. The meticulous attention to detail is evident in the seamless integration of diverse elements, from the shimmering guitars to the subtle electronic nuances. The production enhances the album's emotional depth, providing an immersive experience for the listener. However, some purists argue that the polished sound of the album veers towards overproduction, potentially diluting the raw energy that characterized the band's earlier work. Themes: "Siamese Dream" explores a range of themes that resonate with the angst and uncertainty of the '90s. The struggle for identity, the complexities of relationships, and a sense of alienation pervade the album. Corgan's introspective lyrics paint a vivid picture of personal turmoil, capturing the zeitgeist of a generation grappling with societal shifts and existential questions. The thematic depth contributes to the album's lasting impact, fostering a connection with listeners beyond the musical experience. However, the intense introspection may be too heavy for those seeking a more carefree listening experience. Influence: "Siamese Dream" has left an indelible mark on the alternative rock landscape, influencing a myriad of bands across genres. The album's innovative guitar work, unconventional song structures, and emotional depth have inspired countless musicians. Its impact extends beyond the '90s, with contemporary artists still drawing inspiration from the sonic landscape crafted by The Smashing Pumpkins. The album's influence on the alternative rock genre solidifies its place in the pantheon of essential '90s albums. Pros: Innovative Sound: The album's groundbreaking use of guitars and layering set it apart from its contemporaries. Emotional Depth: Corgan's introspective lyrics and emotive delivery add a layer of authenticity and relatability. Lasting Influence: "Siamese Dream" has had a profound and enduring impact on the alternative rock genre. Cons: Cryptic Lyrics: The abstract nature of the lyrics may alienate listeners seeking more straightforward storytelling. Dense Sound: The intense layering and distortion may be overwhelming for some listeners, potentially detracting from the overall experience. Polished Production: Some argue that the polished sound verges on overproduction, diluting the raw energy found in the band's earlier work. In conclusion, "Siamese Dream" by The Smashing Pumpkins remains a landmark album that transcends its era. Its innovative sound, emotional depth, and enduring influence make it a classic in the alternative rock canon. While the album may not be without its detractors, its impact on the musical landscape is undeniable, solidifying its place as a quintessential '90s masterpiece.
.
Goes well in the background.
Un classique qui hantait déjà mon iPod à l'époque (ok boomer) mais gros plaisir de le réécouter. Même si je préfère "Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness".
I've never been particularly drawn to the Smashing Pumpkins, but I think I'd pick this as my favourite of their albums. "Cherub Rock" and "Today" are undeniable singles, and the rest of the album is chock full of incredible hooks. It feels as though guitar-driven music isn't at the forefront of culture anymore, and so this is a joy to revisit -- a time when great, intricate playing didn't come at the price of a catchy melody. This could be a 5-star album, but I'm going to reserve it for now. I will definitely be returning though.
I really disliked SP as a kid in the 90's. Hearing them now is such a nostalgia bomb that I've begun to kinda dig em. Today esp still holds up and is the vibe I needed heading to work.
First listen Saved 8/13 Top track: Cherub Rock
👍😈
Great 90s rock album.
Liked them more than I thought I would. Warrants more of a listen
Very good
Funny it goes from yesterday's experimental album to a classic grunge album on my first 2 reviews. Takes me back to high school. 4.5?
A bit samey and maybe 15 minutes too long. But goddamn the songwriting and production here is just incredible. Today might be my FAVOURITE alt rock song of the entire 90’s. and that’s saying something.
Never adored billy's voice, but this is a great crop of songs Dynamic, lots of quiet and peaceful moments among the energetic tracks. Like the halfway point of Geek U.S.A. Pretty engaging stuff! Great fun Solid 4 stars
This is my very first time listening to The Smashing Pumpkins and I always thought their music is bit harder. There are some very famous riffs and lyrics but the sound is very monotonous for my taste. I can see the influence of the age where many bands had very similar sound and annunciation. I dont think this album showed much of a range for the band.
great record! rocked hard
This is what 1001 albums is about for me, discovering great music from artists I had never previously listened to. Siamese Dream is a great listen, with a great guitar sound throughout - both crunching riffs, and fluid melodic lines. Today and Hummer stand out as a good combination of grunge and hard rock. Not quite a 5* but not far off
Classic from my childhood
Fed! Aldrig blevet helt hooked på Smashing Pumpkins, tror det er første album jeg har hørt hele vejen igennem
Dækket i lækker fuzzguitar. Kan godt blive lidt træt af Billy Corgans stemme men det her er klart den plade hvor han lyder mindst træls. Lidt for lang
unc likes it so i like it!
always good. damn….those guitars….
Amazing first half, with a couple of 90’s masterpieces, but slightly overlong, overwrought second half.
Good album, vocals get annoying after a while though.
Corgan’s a douche but can’t deny his musicianship. Good album.
2.5/5 Lil bit of nostalgia. Fav: Disarm
3.7
A really good collection of songs. Unlike other figureheads of the 90s indie rock and grunge era, there's a sonic clarity in this album, which is refreshing
cute but not mine
I was surprised by how much of this album I already knew and enjoyed. Good stuff.
Pretty solid album, enjoyed it much more than I expected.
Not my favorite of their albums and that's saying something because I really enjoy this album! So many solid songs on it.
4-4.5
This is a really well-made album. The track list flows effortlessly from mood to mood, and they all work together to create a vivid and warm atmosphere. The guitar pyrotechnics are well-placed and work to great emotional effect. The vocals feel natural, dynamic, expressive, and at home with the instrumentals. The lyrics are interesting and emotional. It’s the full package. I had a blast listening to this. It’s a keeper for sure. Fav tracks: Hummer, Disarm, Soma, Geek U.S.A., Mayonaise, Silverfuck, Luna
Blistering guitar riffs. Crazy mix or metal, pop, and grunge, all with Billy Corgan’s weird little voice floating above it all. Somehow it all hangs together and exemplifies the sound and fury of the early 1990s.
A few greatest hits and a few too much
Ok, ok, listen. Subjectively, I can barely take Billy Corgan for anything. Subjectively, the Smashing Pumpkins were ludicrously overplayed when they were active in the 90s. Subjectively, this band occupies a space in my brain where I actively cringe when I remember they exist. Objectively however, this William Corgan fellow knows how to write a song. This is a powerful album from start to finish. The Pumpkins have a distinct sound, and their execution hits you right between the eyes. This album is full of all sorts of emotions, and this imbues the performances with a vulnerability exposed in the arrangements. 5/5 for being a career-defining album of an objectively talented songwriter. -1 star for Billy Corgan's voice.
🎸🥁🎤
Good. 1x while on trip to SC
Fun punky rock album. Lots of hits I had forgotten
First time listening to a full Smashing Pumpkins album. Felt timely listening to it in October!
Great Alternative album. Today and Disarm will live forever
Classic. Great sound. Brings back college.
Interesting. Made me want to play air guitar
Solid from beginning to end.
Hard rock distorted guitars mixed with soft rock vocals. Couple of great tracks.
I feel like grunge is the perfect genre of rock. It beautifully balances the realms of tortured and distorted sounds without veering into the realm of punk, and at times, it can be strikingly soft and romantic. "Siamese Dream" by the Smashing Pumpkins stands as one of the finest representations of this captivating duality. The album kicks off with the electrifying "Cherub Rock," where the guitars are unapologetically loud and distorted, embodying the grunge spirit. The Smashing Pumpkins masterfully blend aggression with melody, creating a captivating intensity that's undeniably addictive. However, what sets "Siamese Dream" apart is its ability to seamlessly transition into softer, more introspective tracks like "Disarm" and "Today." These songs reveal a more vulnerable side, showcasing the band's versatility and an unexpected romanticism within the grunge landscape. Billy Corgan's songwriting and vocals are the heart of this album. His introspective and emotionally charged lyrics, combined with his distinctive voice, draw you into the depths of his emotions. It's as if he's baring his soul through each track. In essence, "Siamese Dream" is a grunge masterpiece. It encapsulates the essence of the genre while pushing its boundaries, making it a cornerstone of '90s alternative rock. It's a testament to the Smashing Pumpkins' ability to create music that's simultaneously intense and tender, forging a lasting connection with listeners.
"Siamese Dream" by The Smashing Pumpkins is a quintessential '90s alternative rock album that showcases the band's penchant for grandiose soundscapes and introspective songwriting. Released in 1993, it's a sonic journey through the emotional depths of the human experience. Tracks like "Today" and "Disarm" are iconic for their emotional depth and Billy Corgan's distinctive vocals. The album's production, marked by lush guitars and intricate layering, creates a powerful, wall-of-sound effect. While "Siamese Dream" is undoubtedly a landmark album, it does have moments that feel somewhat excessive or self-indulgent. This is a characteristic that can polarize listeners, with some appreciating its sonic ambition and others finding it overbearing. In summary, "Siamese Dream" is a significant album that captures the essence of '90s alternative rock. Its emotional depth and ambitious production make it a classic, deserving of a 4/5 rating, although some might find its intensity a bit overwhelming at times.
Awesome album
I would listen to it again
The production quality of this is solid. Fan of the genre or not this was a huge grunge/alternative album and clearly was meant to be a hit and reshape the musical scene at the time. Lots of development as a band on this one. I do find it feels a bit long at times but you can tell it influenced a ton of later bands.
👍🏼
Very enjoyable, but there wasn't enough variety for my taste. My favorite songs on the album were ones that did try something new. Favorite song: Disarm. 8/10
Enjoyable album. Good compositions/musicality, and ample re-listenability
Standout song - quiet
The album has some sweet drum action. This wasn't my type of music growing up so I only recognized two or three of their most popular songs. Glad I got a chance to listen to the whole thing.
Knew cherub rock and today which were bangers, more bangers ensued. Nice
I think this is the best yet.
Probably the first album on this list that I'm really into, as a big Grunge / 90s Alternative fan - though Smashing Pumpkins is not among my favourites. Today and Disarm are amazing songs, though I feel like most of their best songs were on other albums. A lot of these songs are just a bit samey to me. Still a great listen though!
nice
I've been a Smashing Pumpkins fan for 10 or so years. I like their first 4 albums (everything up through Adore) almost equally. Siamese Dream is a bit less bloated than Mellon Collie, but I am a sucker for double albums and silly puns. Anyway, as for Siamese Dream I don't find myself skipping any songs on re-listens. I like all the singles, but outside of that my favorites are Soma and Silverfuck. Soma has a nice shift between soft and heavy, and Silverfuck is just fun.
This is the only Smashing Pumpkins album I own (not counting a burned copy of Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness), and I don’t think I’ve ever listened to the whole thing before. Smashing Pumpkins has always been a singles band for me— I’d say about five of their singles were favorites of mine back in the ‘90s— mainly because I can’t put up with Billy Corgan’s whiny vampire vocals for sustained periods. He’s best taken in three minute doses. I think his image was also a turnoff for me. He seems like a pompous ass. That his band mates all seemed to hate him doesn’t help. (I laughed while reading the liner notes a minute ago; the acknowledgements start off with ‘the smashing pumpkins, in a rare showing of unity, wish to collectively thank the following…’) Over the years I’ve listened to them less frequently. The teenage angst isn’t as appealing these days. Listening to it now, I have to admit this record sounds really good. Even on songs I don’t particularly like all that much the guitars soar, the bass bumps, and the drums power the whole thing. ‘Today’ is still my favorite song on here. It floods me with memories of teenage depression and overpowering emotions. I remember playing the opening riff on my electric guitar and thinking I was so cool. Overall, I think it’s a good album but not one I’m ever going to give heavy rotation. I’ll probably continue to listen to my favorite handful of songs and skip the rest.
Very nostalgic. Fairly enjoyable. I was excited to revisit this one. Wish I could te this generator to stay in this lane for a bit.. oh well, here comes some bullshit. I’ll bet it’s poison or meatloaf. Hoping for a hot one. Give me a gem, five star comin’ up!
Holy grunge Maybe a little too 90s headband How have I not heard it Has a really nostalgic and vibey feel for being super rocky and grunge Top songs: Cherub rock Today Disarm Mayonaise Silverfuck
Soma and Mayonaise are stand outs. Dudes voice can get a bit much but great sounds in the quiet times.
My kind of rock, should listen more.
Listened Before? Y A grunge album from the golden age! This one is a good one. Although Billy Corgan's voice leaves something to be desired IMO, the compositions and arrangements, the instrumentation (especially the GUITARS) are absolutely perfect. Added to Library? N Songs added to Playlist: Cherub Rock
Really great alt rock that borders on heavy metal from time to time. Huge sound, some memorable compositions, good contrasting dynamics.
I like the melodic stuff and incorporation of string instruments on some of the softer tracks. A few real standouts (Disarm, Luna, Spaceboy). Started skeptical I'd like it but it definitely surprised me.
Essential existential 90's Great for a rainy day and questioning reality.
"Billy Corgan, Smashing Pumpkins." "Homer Simpson, smiling politely."
THIS WAS ONE OF MY FAVORITE ALBUMS IN HIGH SCHOOL. Life changing. Furious and sweet and messy and dreamlike and everything that embodies adolescence. I will say that for me, the songs kind of blend together about halfway through, after a seriously strong start.
i don’t love every song on this album but the ones i love, i really love. and it’s such a landmark 90s album. i liked their “melancholy and the infinite sadness” double album better
Never paid attention to Siamese Dream at the time. It's solid and it rocks. Peak grunge.
Excellent
Alternative rock classic
I didn't think I would like this band but they can rock pretty good.
Never listen to them, at first it fit perfecly in the grunge era, very alternative, a buit like Alice in chains or Jane's addiction. Apparently they were supposed to be the Next Nirvana, but i think they manage to make a good grunge reccord, but without being copycats. The album talk about very difficult and dark subject (depression, death, abortion ect.) in a i think good way. Today, Cherub rock and Rocket are pretty good
If I had to pick one album to represent the 90s, this would be a strong contender. Its complex studio productions, courtesy of Butch Vig, combined heavy metal, grunge, and shoegaze, into something both melancholy and highly energetic. Even their look fit perfectly into the 90s indie scene, just slightly odd and rebelous but completely relatable to all the lonely kids. A classic album.
I liked it, it’s a really good album definitely not one bad song but I do feel it drags and maybe it could do with less tracks also the songs are great not a bad one as I said before but some do just blur for me so 4/5
Another absolute amazing album by TSP. I've been floored by all the albums I've listened to of theirs. It's not just they have a couple great songs from my youth on them but the "filler" songs have all been very solid.
I used to rank this way higher than Mellon Collie, as went into this review thinking I'd end up giving it 5*. On reflection though, as I've grown older the gap between the two has almost disappeared. Some amazing tracks on here, Quiet, Hummer and Soma being some of the best in the genre, but other tracks suffer from overrunning (e.g. geek USA, mayonnaise, silverfuck) that take good riffs/hooks and let them play on a minute or two (or 5, in silverfucks case) too long, that makes the album feel bloated, especially as by the end you're just glad the recent run has come to an end. Undeniably great album, but on reflection could have been even better with carefull editing.
So many awesome songs, guitar riffs, and a unique sound. Love me some pumpkins!! Still on my bucket list of bands to see too. Listen again: yes Purchase for my collection: yes Favourite Song: Quiet or Geek USA
An alt rock gem. I saw Smashing Pumpkins well after their prime, about a decade ago - listening to this today made me wish I had been around for the joy and charisma of their younger records.
It's a great album, very 90's grunge and reminds me of an episode of Daria or Beavis and Butthead.
Outstanding
A favourite of my teenage years, arguably better than mellan collie, or at least more consistent, and billie corgans vocals not yet as grating as they would become. It's not the most diverse album musically but does what it does well. As a teen I would have waxed lyrical about this one but nowadays I'd say, yeah this is a very good album. It doesn't hit like it used to. Favourites nowadays are hummer, geek USA and mayonnaise which is great fun to play on the guitar. Luna is a lovely closer. Something I now do on this challenge is read the album wiki page, and that gave me a deeper understanding of the albums context. Recommended. 8/10
This Album was pretty great, I'm happy that the first time I've ever given *checks notes* Smashing Pumpkins a shot was with such a strong Album. Every song was at least enjoyable and a good number of them were honestly fantastic. They're very good at making music sound...sad I guess? Damn I hope they're doing all right. Every song up until Spaceboy is really good on the old ears, though I feel that the last three songs aren't as good as what came before unfortunately but it never dips into being bad which is amazing honestly. A few of my favourites were: Cherub Rock - This is hilariously maybe the most alternative rock song I've ever heard and I think that's fine because it's pretty great. Today - He's talking about how his day is great which is pretty nice until he starts talking about how life can't give him what he wants and it's like damn misleading intro dude. Disarm - Honestly worth price of admission alone, what an absolute banger, this would definitely be used for a cinematic trailer or something. Beautiful. Mayonaise - Quite soothing makes me want to go out on the field and pose with my arms out but then you actually listen to the lyrics and it's like damn sad. Give this album a listen, just do it already you aren't building a library in your spare time I know you haven't got anything else going on.
Absolute banger after banger. This is the kind of music I grew up with and still listen to so I may be a little bit biased. I will not deny however that the album definitely loses steam in the second half as seems to be a trend with the genre, but a great listen to regardless! Stand out songs: - Cherub Rock - A classic example of that mid 90's Indie Rock. If I was introducing someone to the genre then this would definitely be on the list of songs to play - Hummer - Life's a bummer 😔 - Silverfuck - Energetic, calm, energetic. The ending really kicks your feet out from under you with no warning.
BEST SONGS: - Quiet - Mayonaisse
Not bad!
Siamese Dream is the second studio album by alternative rock/grunge group The Smashing Pumpkins. Apparently the recording sessions for this record were full of difficulties and high tensions within the band. Despite all of this, the record debuted at #10 on the billboard charts, and went 4x platinum. The Smashing Pumpkins sound reminds me a lot of The Cure in that all of the instruments are very heavily distorted, which creates a sort of wall of sound. Unlike The Cure, however, the production on this record is super tight, making each instrument crisp and distinguishable amid the "fuzz". Also unlike The Cure, Billy Corgan's unique voice soars over all of the noise, and leads to some phenomenal music. This album has 4 singles, Cherub Rock, Today, Disarm, and Rocket. The album was released right in the middle of the grunge era, so it did very well, competing with the likes of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. Overall, I've always liked The Smashing Pumpkins, ever since I first heard their album Mellon Collie and the Infinate Sadness (which is the album right after this one). Not my first time listening to this record, and I doubt it will be my last. Favourite songs: Disarm, Cherub Rock, Geek U.S.A., Today, Quiet Least favourite song: Soma, Silverfuck 4/5
Glorious, but long at times. I’m going to be purchasing the vinyl for my home listening.
Enjoyed that. Haven't heard much from the Pumpkins before, not a full album's worth anyway.
I only knew a few SP tracks prior to trying out this album. A pleasant surprise. Much enjoyments.
Grunge
4.5/5. Once considered my favourite band of all time.
Might be my favorite Pumpkins record and definitely the one that gives me the most nostalgia. Not a single bad track, really.
I am finally ready to admit that this is a grunge album.
gr8t
Brilliant
The layering of the guitars on some of these songs is just amazing. The sound they captured is so flawless, the cleanest crunch you could imagine, it’s clear Corgan was such a perfectionist. The effort paid off though. Other than a few weaker tracks on the back end, this album is very nearly an all time classic, but certainly a classic of the alt rock era.
I quite liked this, I didn't even mind Billy Corgan's voice this time around
Classic. 7.5/10
Sorry haters… this is a banger
I ended up really enjoying this album. I kind of complained about it being a little over an hour to myself but as I got further through it, I enjoyed my time. I only knew Today from playing Rock Band as a kid so listening to the rest of the album was nice.
Nobody did loud-quiet-loud better than Billy C. Perhaps SPs weren't the most versatile, quiet-loud-quiet being their only other gear and relying on the contrast on either within or between nearly every song. (To wit, "Quiet" could just as easily and accurately have been called "Loud"). But they get away with it because of the melodies. One generally prefers the tunes in the sweeter and dreamier ("Luna" and "Mayonnaise" and "Spaceboy" being the best of this lot), rather than the outright rageful ones (which feel forced). And give to Billy C: he possesses one of the most distinctive voices, love it or hate it, in recent decades.
I like this smashing pumpkins alot better than mellon collie. Vibes are better and Billy Corgan annoys me less. Cherub Rock will always be my favorite smashing pumpkins song. Such a cool sounding song
So I guess the consensus is that this is the best SP album..I disagree but I get it. This album is staked with bangers, a lot of my favorite smashing pumpkins songs are on this project. What surprises me most is that this came out BEFORE Mellon Collie yet the production sounds a lot cleaner and less grungy. Unfortunately the "less grungy" aspect makes me feel like its lacking something that Mellon Collie has. I am trying not to make this about comparing the two, it just definitely informed a lot of how I enjoyed this album. It is a little too polished. shout out to cole, tom, (and pat) learning cherub rock in the South basement is a cherished memory <3
Pretty cool album by a pretty cool band.
Some classic singles on a great album
6. SWAG something to revisit in a rock girl mood
Really enjoyed this. Smashing pumpkins really rocks hard. Don't love his voice, but the guitar and drums are incredible
Great album
This is a great melodic, grunge-y with super "y" album with so many different variations in tempo and sensibility. I can see why they were a big deal, even if they never matched up to the success of Nirvana or Pearl Jam. They were a bit different and I reckon that's what 90s radio needed. (p.s. Mayonaise has actively been one of my fav songs for several years now. Definitely 11/10 song for me).
Mycket bra
I know I’ll probably be the sole enjoyer of this album, but yeah, I enjoy this album
me gustó! 8/10
I would be the pumpkin for them to smash? Only in my siamese dreams tho
Leuk album maar ook niet iets dat er echt uitspringt
Great album, not so great front man
Nostalgisch album voor mij. Cherub rock zat in THPS3, daarna veel dit album gecheckt. Hele herkenbare gitaartoom en stem van Billy
Fabulous - really sounds fantastic in 2023.
While they would soon become more ambitious both in scope and in sound, I think this is where SP peaked as a rock outfit. I love how these guys were influenced by a lot of things that were so unhip in the early 90's, like metal and prog/hard rock. It made for a unique and "big" sound when everything was about seeming modest at the time.
ikkje heilt mellon collie, men fortsatt bra
2 or 3 anthems in this album.
I think I like this album more than "Infinite Sadness" - but I can also admit that it's not as good. That thing is a work of art, this album is just a solid 90s rock album. Cherub Rock and Disarm are classics and the rest of this album is solid. Still probably one of the best to come out of this era.
An album from my youth. Still holds a place in my heart and I think it’s the strongest pumpkins record.
4/5
Fantastic way to start a week.
Good album, heavy and clearly inspired lots of later bands
My older cousin loved The Smashing Pumpkins, so this was very nostalgic.
Classic album, didn't realize how many of these songs I knew and liked.
Today is a classic! Good alt vibes, even if it might not be an album I want to listen through all the time.
Great Pumpkins Album. Skip the slow songs
Not my favourite Smashing Pumpkins album, but still a solid listen. Top Tracks: Geek U.S.A., Disarm, Rocket, Today, and Cherub Rock.
This has always been an album that I admire... but so far I am yet to fully love. When it came out, I was a bit suspicious of its prog rock elements, but despite my prejudices easing over the years, I am yet to warm to those elements here. That said, there are some absolutely 5⭐ tracks.
I really enjoy this album. It has the best smashing pumpkins songs and the energy is really good.
Great garage album. Sick riffs and edgy lyrics. What's not to like?
Waait, I already know and love some of these songs!
Surprisingly good
The album that told the world Smashing Pumpkins were here to stay. Excellent fuzz guitar work.
bom disco
Pretty great album but some of the songs blended together for me. Other than that, this album had some good riffs and lyrics. Fave track(s): Geek U.S.A., Mayonaise
Great US alternative rock music from the first half of the 1990s. Some songs are raw and have grunge influences. Billy Corgan's singing is so distinctive and overall the album has quite a unique sound. However, it is too long, it would have better as a short album.
I knew I liked it, but still it's been a few years since I listened to Siamese Dreams all the way through. Still a great album, and now tinged with sweet nostalgia.
Emotional Mayonaise
Yeah, I liked this a lot, but I'm a whore for some pumpkin bashers so what can I say. Yeah It's a 3.5 turned 4 because I think my ratings should reflect I like this era of rock way way more than previous.
Well this is a beautiful album - around 4/5ths of it is basically perfect - Smashing Pumpkins have truly their own unique sound down to the instrument level - and remarkably songs are at the same time memorable enough to classify as strong pop songwriting layered in the above mentioned unique arrangement and flavour. The last part feels a bit extra - suffering from the CD era’s indulgence in album length… were this released on a vinyl it would have been a 5/5.
Bliss
Rock guitars. Spooky singing. Good combo.
Super bompin album. Listening to it felt nostalgic and the music gave me a great sense of melancholy. The instrumentation was bangin and the vocals hit a sweet spot between gnarly and melodic.
Very well put together album. Flows from harder to more melodic smoothly.
One of my favourites from the early 90s. Thick layered guitar riffs, catchy melodies. My younger self perversely enjoyed the alternative-style awful nasal singing. Also has some tender sweet songs. “Mayonaise” still gives me goosebumps. Not sure what happened to the brighter clearer album cover - don’t much like the washed out monochrome version displayed now. Other than that, it’s a triumph.
Great album. Full of vibes. Loved it.
There were some songs I liked and some I didn’t. It’s a little long
A lot of The Smashing Pumpkins songs can sound very similar, so I do enjoy when there's some standouts, like in the second half of this album. It's a nice listen Saved tracks: Rocket, Disarm, Geek U.S.A., Sweet Sweet
Been ages since I listened to this but was right in the mood for it. Got a good amount of jangle too. Billy Corgan’s still never getting into my house though.
Billy C may have wanted to be the meanest, etc. but it's the sweeter songs that work best. He mainly fulfills his grand ambitions here, though the cleanliness of the production plus the catchiness of the hooks lends a vaguely bubble gum feel (presumably the opposite of the intended effect). It has deeper pleasures than one recalls from real time, and his preening self-importance's move into the rearview of time also makes it easier to enjoy.
90s angsty mood
90s super angsty
I must admit I already am a smashing pumpkins fan. Billy corgan has such an iconic voice its hard not to like. Cherub rock might be my favorite song of theirs. Today is a great song - I forgot about that one. Great tracks up and down this record. Only reason I didn't give a 5 is because I thought the album really slowed down at the song Silverfuck. If it ends before that its probably a 5 for me. 8/10 killer album!!
Enjoyed that, they're a band I've never taken the time to check out even though I should, some good stuff on it. Loved Mayonaise.
I liked this, but not quite as much as the rest of you did. The lead singer's voice probably stops it from being a 5, and it does drag a little, but it's still a great listen. Can tell that it's a good album by pretty much everyone having a different favourite song from it A really good sound (love the ever so slightly self-indulgent guitar solo in Soma), could probably criticise the lack of variety but it's all pretty good so I don't want to! 4/5.
I've never really given Smashing Pumpkins much of my time, and this was a lot to digest at the first go– my only major critique of the album is that it feels a little long. But from the moment Disarm came on, I was completely onboard with the sound, completely taken by its narrative voice. The tracks on the back half really allow the songs to build from ballads to these full, raw tracks. I was just impressed by the range and the performances, even if I wasn't catching everything lyrically on the first listen. One I'll definitely have to go back to. But very, very impressed on the first go. Side note: prog rock albums don’t sound good in my car! So I nearly got the wrong impression. The guitars felt misleadingly busy on a system that had poor midrange. Glad I got it on a better system eventually.
This brings back fond memories of late night listens in Year 12, of learning bass with an old friend, of discovering alternative music. Mellon Collie has more good songs but this has some special moments.
Good
much better than i expected
Geiler droniger klang. Coole Melodien. Verrückte lyrics.
It was better than I expected. I had heard very little of the Smashing Pumpkins and what I had heard had not impressed me very much. The vocals are not to my taste in general, but getting past them to the music itself revealed an inventiveness and willingness to explore that is uncommon in a rock band. Just please change the vocalist - Billy Corgan's 'little boy' voice lets the band down. Keep him as guitarist, but find someone that has some depth to their voice.
Bish Bash Bosh - worked for me.... I love their vibe
Pretty good, although not usually my style.
Smashing Pumpkins were the first band I got really into as a 6 year old circa '95. Honestly I should probably give this a 3 since there's kind of a lot of filler here, but the handful of really good songs are still in the normal rotation, plus this album gets me feeling nostalgic. We'll call it a 3.5 rounded up.
Interestingly, it is only three days since the generator had me listening to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Pretension, which I kinda hated (or, at least, found very difficult to listen to all the way through). I loved Gish, so I will repeat the story… In 1991, I was working at Scratches Records, and I did the import ordering. One day, I was on the phone to Dogmeat Dave at Shock Distribution, and he said “Mate, I’ve a got a record that I think you would really dig”. I agreed to take a copy, and the Pumpkins first album “Gish” turned up. And I put it out for sale, and never listened to it. And it sat there for (at least) three months without anyone even looking at it. So I thought “well, I should at least listen to this thing”, and chucked it on the turntable. By the end of the first song I was hooked. It was heavy and fuzzy and trippy and I really dug it. So I bought that copy and took it home. And for the next six months I played it to everyone I could, and evangelised for the album. I played it a lot. My then flatmate and friend, Andy Winter, managed to track down a first U.S. issue coloured vinyl copy of Siamese Dream when it was first released for my birthday. Thanks Andy! I remember at the time I wasn’t _quite_ as enamoured of this record as I was with Gish. It felt a little more bloated, with a tendency towards ballads (Today, Disarm), and it certainly revelled in its misanthropy and angst (even more than Gish, which was a little bit trippier). These were forewarnings of what was yet to come in the interminable bloat-fest that is Mellon Collie. But it was still a pretty rockin’ album. I saw them play this live at the Big Day Out and Selina’s in 1994. They mostly played this album, and they really tore it up. Corgan’s ability to rip out a screaming lead line was a sight to behold. Listening to this record now, I probably like it better than I did then. The sound is HUGE, with massively overdubbed guitars, but with that fuzzy, all-tube tone. Corgan’s voice is still pretty whiny, but I feel like the harder rock material (Cherub Rock, Silverfuck, Geek USA, Quiet, etc) is a bit more suitable for a nasal vocal cutting through than his later penchant for ballads. Some reviews at the time criticised it for being too angsty and over-produced compared to Nirvana, who were “more authentic”. Corgan’s ambitions to produce a monumental album were seen as too careerist. But, frankly, Nirvana sold a ton of records, and also are largely driven by angst. I’m not too sure what the qualitative difference is. And, of course, this record and Nevermind were both produced by Butch Vig. (Note that the Pumpkins used him first, for Gish, which was recorded and released before Nevermind) Special note: this album was mixed by Alan Moulder. Part of what I have noticed as part of this project is how often his name pops up as an important contributor (engineering, producing, mixing) of many of the most important (and great sounding) records of the 1990s and beyond. Great work, Alan! Anyway, I really enjoyed listening to this heavy, fuzzy, angsty piece of hard rock again. This goes back on the rotation list.
10/13/22 Some great songs. Now I’m going to explore 90s rock
Original notes deleted. But immediately what I think of when somebody says “90s hard rock” but not in a bad way. Enjoy how lots of songs build with long instrumentals but wish there was more of a pay off like on Soma which is the best song. Overall can see the influence on lots of modern bands I love.
Insane guitar tones, great vocals. Some songs a bit long though imo.
This is good for what it is
Gorgeous, heavy blistering shoegaze-y noise with just a pinch of psychedelia. It's a bit long, and I think the record could've ended after "Spaceboy", but it's still a solid album throughout. Call it 4.5 stars. Favorite tracks: "Hummer", "Disarm", "Soma"
Ok Not as inspiring as expected
No sophomore slump for the Smashing Pumpkins. This record is a perfect blend of shoegaze, dreamy psychedelia, and grunge/alternative. What else can be said?
In the words of Shakin’ Stevens: lovely stuff
Grunge isn't usually my thing, but I really liked this. No particular tracks stood out, but it chugs along for an hour with an engaging energy and vibe. Rating: 3.5/5 Playlist track: Cherub Rock Date listened: 06/09/22
Listened to this a hundred times
Good to finally listen to this all the way through! I’ve been a fan of the Smashing Pumpkins forever, but mainly just their singles. I’ve even seen them live twice without ever having listened to a whole album of theirs. Oops? Anyway, outside of the hits I already knew, I actually wasn’t super interested in the rest of it. Oops?
Still good after all these years.
Great album, but a bit flat. Would definitely listen again
Really nice guitar and great pop rock sound
Potência do rock direto que possibilita envolver outras camadas de sonoridade.
Another band, I hadn't gotten around to listen to thoroughly and I'm happy I finally listened to Siamese Dream, a very fine record. There are elements of arena rock, classic rock, alternative and it's a bit grungy in parts, this album holds up pretty well, released almost 30 years ago. There was lots to like and most of it held my attention. I hear that this is The Smashing Pumpkins best record and it's good, so I should explore more of their discography soon. Hope the rest are at least half as good as this!
Mayonaise, Disarm, I forget how good some of SP was
I've heard all of Siamese Dream because someone else has put this album on to listen to. I've listened to several songs from this album and from TheSmashing Pumpkins in general. "Today" and "Disarm" are two tracks from this album that jump back into my personal rotation every now and then. Overall, the album feels like a strong 4 stars. No tracks felt like I should skip them, and some of the tracks are marked for replay.
Check
high 3 or low 4 - went with the 4
I was surprised by how many songs I liked.
Great album. Great voice. Not their best(personal opinion) but still a great album,
Not a big grunge fan, but some good stuff on here. “Mayonnaise” absolutely slaps. Enjoy some of the quieter moments. Maybe I’ll grow into this type of music more in future!
Outstanding album. Comfortably their best and, although not strictly grunge, one of the best from that era. Possibly second only to Nevermind.
Yummy yummy
good riffs. good songs. good.
One of the best albums to come out in the post-Nevermind era.
Just some solid 90's alt rock right here. I don't think it has that star factor the Mellon Collie does, but this is damn fine.
it's taken me almost 30 years to get around to listening to this. I'm a fool....should have listened sooner - great album, and thats after 1 x listen!
Billy Corgan is undeniably talented but I’ve never been the biggest fan of his voice. With this album, I actually liked the middle more than either end with the exception of cherub rock. Today is overrated
i put this on expecting to give it a three because i've always liked the singles but not the whole album but today this hit HARD. something about corgan's voice takes me back to being a little kid listening to the radio and thinking about how big the world was.
Enjoyable but I had to be in the right frame of mind!
I like a lot of The Smashing Pumpkins' music and I'm always impressed by Billy Corgan's songwriting, composition, and performance skills. Incredible musicianship and a severely underrated guitarist in my view (I think that's for two main reasons: (1) he's a singer, the frontman, and he's a multi-instrumentalist; and (2) his personality, or at least how it's shown to us via media). This was only their second studio album as a band, yet it shows complexity and a signature style. I don't love all the tracks on this album but it does contain some real gems. Really good stuff overall.
As much as I want to complain about these songs being "played out" on the radio or complain about my perceptions of Billy Corgan steadily degrading over time ... I just don't care, because this album is way too good. I also openly acknowledge my fondness for this album is likely unduly swayed by nostalgia. What really drew me into this album, and still endears me to it today, is that it is founded in the grunge/alt musical sensibility, but it goes way beyond the simplistic structures of that genre. The songs are full of contours. They have intros, transitions, swings in guitar effects, phrases that build and climb, pauses of calm punctuated with eruptions of fuzz blaring guitars. I think the tracks 'Soma', 'Mayonaise', and 'Silverfuck' demonstrates what I'm talking about perfectly. Some of the greatest tracks/moments on this album, that come to my mind are, the first 57 seconds of 'Cherub Rock', 'Hummer', 'Rocket', 'Soma', 'Silverf*ck', and 'Rhinoceros' - oops, wrong album.
3.5/5. Pretty decent grunge alt-rock.
Smashing Pumpkins were one of the first bands that I listened to and one of the first cds I ever bought. I enjoyed this album and it brought back a ton of nostalgia.
There were a couple of absolute bangers (disarm, cherub rock) but the rest of the album didn't really capture me all that much. Some songs are definitely in the rotation already/going into the rotation after this, but some are very forgettable.
Enjoyed very much always been a fan of Smashing Pumpkins
Never listened to a Smashing Pumpkins album in full before, actually enjoyed it. Some great tracks. 9/10
good one
Siamese Dream was part of my 90s/00s playlists. Some of these songs are perfect and have grown in me through the years: Quiet, Disarm, Rocket, Mayonnaise… It’s a great Alternative Rock piece that has influenced several artists for the last 30 years
Love it
There were a couple of absolute bangers (disarm, cherub rock) but the rest of the album didn't really capture me all that much. Some songs are definitely in the rotation already/going into the rotation after this, but some are very forgettable.
The guitars we so sick
I don't usually love this genre, but this has a pretty distinctive sound and I found myself surprised at how much l liked it.
This is so quintessential 90s. Time machines are real
Good stuff
I will always praise Corgan’s songwriting, but the production really makes it hard to listen to some of the heavier songs. The album shines when the songs are softer without his really bothersome distortion. Nevertheless, there are classic songs like Disarm and Today on this album. Worthy of a 4.
Great Album with a high quality of songs. Feels somewhat like a textbook alternative rock album
Muy Smashing Pumpkins.
It's a great album, although it is a bit more heavy metal than I might like, I gotta admit it's not bad. If you're looking for a powerful album that combines really strong instrumentals and powerful guitar with some not very clear lyrics, then this is your album. 'Today' is actually a brilliant song
Overall good album. Talented musicians and the sound is very 90s nostalgic.
I suspect I'd need to listen to this a few times to really get it.
4 stars
gott stuff
A doozy
Nevermind but not as good. Great textures for the first few songs.
War früher kein Mega Smashing Pumpkins Fan aber habs jetzt echt sehr genossen - Laut/leise, große Gesten und Gefühle, 90er as fuck, unique Gesang, Sound und tolles Songwriting
Great album. Alt Rock champions.
Excellent album, would recommend
i played cherub rock on guitar hero 3 back in like 2008. that game formed my music taste as a teen and unfortunately i didn't take to cherub rock that much. listening to it now i still don't but this album is nice. really regret not giving it a chance back then as i think it would have a had a healthy impact on me. the highlights for me on this album are the more quieter moments. they really shine.
Simply smashing
'I don't understand what they mean and I could really give a fuck' All jokes aside, this is a solid album - probably their best as it's more confident than Gish and more consistent than the fantastic-but-sprawling Melon Collie. Cherub Rock kicks things off with volcanic energy, Today is remarkably beautiful, and Disarm disarms me with a smile
It's an excellent album . Though it veers towards the metal side of things, not my favorite genre, from time to time, it dies so with a lack of bombast. The song remains the raison d'etre and the songs are generally catchy and melodic. I generally don't lo e the guitar sound but certainly not intolerable in context. 4.5 🌟
Such a good album
So, so much more enjoyable & listenable then Mellon Collie. Solid, propulsive rock.
Já conhecia e revisitei! Algumas músicas não me chamam muito a atenção, mas outras são simplesmente umas das melhores músicas do rock dos anos 90, e da história do gênero, de forma geral. Destaque para Cherub Rock, Hummer e Soma.
This is a rock masterpiece. Both 1) of a particular time, and 2) timeless. Mayonnaise is the underdog here and, for this listener, the beating heart of the album (along with Disarm). Corgan may be a bit of a douchebag, but he's also a fuckin' genius.
Un merescut clàssic dels 90. Els pasatges instrumentals, la ràbia postadolescent, el so convulsiu i algunes cançons especialment inspirades fan d'ell un dels discos més definitoris del so del rock alternatiu de la década
Good album! Felt like a classic.
No one else really sounds like Corgan at his best
Maybe I listened to this record too late. But you can tell which bands were influenced by this record and all of the subsequent pop-culture that came out immediately around its release. I'd listen to it again but probably wouldn't buy the record.
Listening this album makes me feel 15 again, but only in the good ways.
Great to listen to!
Surprisingly good
today was a huge deal when it came out, and it's a pretty good song, as is disarm; mayonnaise is the winner off this one for me, though. as a personal disclaimer, i am now and have always been a huge sucker for dreamy vocals and crunchy-washy guitars...which is, of course, their whole sound. that said...i've always kinda thought billy was just a bit of a tool, which makes it harder to really love their music. ...but this is still pretty durn good.
Decent
Excellent album.
This album meanders in places which is why I dropped a star, but damn me if it isn't worth 4 stars for Cherub Rock, Today and Disarm. I'm not the most ardent of Smashing Pumpkins fans due to Billy and the gang disappearing up their own bottoms for the next few albums. This album however is a testament to blend of sounds the band embraced, from Grunge to metal to Dream pop, Sonic Youth style noise and R.E.M.-like sensitivity.
4.34 Quintessential early '90s alt-rock album. Shoutout to the first minute of the track Soma— it made me stop working just to repeat and listen to it again. Trancelike in the best sense possible.
This is the album i think of when asked what the US Alternative music scene sounded like in the 90's. Its a bigger rock sound than most of their contemporaries attempted. They led the transition of Alt rock bans moving from the bars to the stadiums maintaining an underachiever vibe but borrowing hooks from classic stadium rock bands, all underpinned by powerful songwriting. All that is missing is a decent rock singers voice. He's like a pound shop Kurt Cobain. 4/5
Maybe not the greatest day I’ve ever known, but up there
middle school days, great album
majonäs var bra. Gillar överlag
atmospheric alt rock
Pumpkin fuckers. Just in time for Halloween.
Billy Corgan - tactically inept cabbage head.
Wow, wasn’t prepared to like this as much as I did. They got SO HYPED UP later in their career that I just refused to pay attention to them. I’ve never listened to the whole album before, even though individual tracks are basically my youth’s soundtrack. Very Seattle grunge. It really holds up as a sound of an era.
Well it's got to be one of the best album openings ever! Cherub Rock is an all time classic. Quiet is then good, as a technical show of hands, with some weird time signature stuff going on. Then you get Today, which is one of the best songs ever! Obviously drops off from here, but Hummer is a rare good long song. Rocket is less exciting, but then Disarms big epic beautiful sad balladry wins you back! Soma opens feeling like a Mogwai track. It's like the comedown from the previous tracks big bold production. It goes small and internal, very nicely. After this, it never hits such great heights again... But I'd say it had probably done enough already.
Siamese Dreams by Smashing Pumpkins (1993) Smashing Pumpkins (probably better titled “The Billy Corgan Project”) deliver a signature sound on this album. The Corgan sound is characterized by a near-symphonic texture of guitar overdubbing and the idiosyncratic lead vocals of Mr. Corgan, driving a message of cathartic honesty that borders on the uncomfortable, if not narcissistic. The lyrics are nearly embarrassing (for the listener, not Corgan) for their transparency and reckless lack of reserve, but that feature does little harm because Corgan’s abandonment of diction makes the words (sans lyrics sheet) all but indecipherable anyway. His voice alternates between two timbres, which are both substandard and extraordinarily interesting at the same time. One timbre is airy and elvish; the other is whiny and harsh. Supply your own synonyms. It is a voice that is well suited the very limited melodies Corgan has composed, which are all-too-heavily reliant on favorite intervals and loopy slurs. Blah. Having said that, this is still a very good album, if for no other reason than the technical excellence of the sound. It is galvanizing and pleasing. Hard driving rock riffs are layered over and over with multiple electric rhythm guitar tones. This record reveals the beauty of rock guitar. And while the technique could have been monotonous, this foundational Corgan sound is flavored with striking and innovative variety, including well performed if understated solos. The solo section at 3:04 on “Mayonaise” (sic) is great. And I don’t even like mayonnaise. One extraordinary highlight on this album is the integration of elements of symphony orchestra on “Disarm” and “Luna”. On these two tracks, strings are not simply added as background—they are woven into the composition itself. They actually become more magnetic than the melody and lyrics. Drummer Jimmy Chamberlain is flat-out excellent (listen to track #11!). Guitarist James Iha and bassist D’arcy Wretsky, however, are not even utilized on almost half of these tracks, on which those parts are performed by (you guessed it) Corgan himself. I suppose Iha and Wretsky were needed for live performances of these songs, however. It’s worth celebrating their humility in accepting such an arrangement. 4/5
4/5
I don't like alternative Rock and grunge, but this album - is exeption. Really great thing. The Best Composition - "Soma"
I was a Melon Collie guy in high school but this is probably closer to my favourite Pumpkins album. It has most of my favourites (Disarm, Today, Cherub) and really enjoyed Silverfuck too
Billy Corgan is a true guitar hero. He rips through this album with ferocity coming out of his fingertips. Even the more tender acoustic tracks feel at times like the guitar is under attack during the most emotional moments. And he sings with power and emotion. The whole band sounds great here, and the album rocks extremely hard.
I've forgotten how great this album is. Billy Corgan, mad genius that he is has pretty much spoiled all good will the Pumpkins earned. The 90s grunge sound is credited with being born in the PacNW. Chicago's Smashing Pumpkins expand that area with this album. 4.5/5
One of those bands that would be legends if they had a different singer. The album is still great though, closer. High 3, closer to 4 so that's why I'm rounding up.
Knew this album already – lovely emo softness
Si lo escucho otra vez le pongo 5*
Sick, first 2 tracks are proper 90s grunge, big fan. Always wanted to give these guys more of a listen/try so lookin forward to the rest of this one. Feels like a high3 so round up to a 4 so far. Yeh 4/5, enjoyed it.
I was sort of dreading this one because I absolute hate the vocalist's way of singing on the songs I've heard. Sure enough, the singing was pretty bad, but actually not nearly as bad as I had feared. To my even bigger surprise, the song writing, song structuring and instrumentation were fantastic. With a good singer, this could easily have been a 5. As is, it's a 3.5 for me. Rounded up because it surprised me so much.
Starts off with what I think to be their best song and maintains a level of good throughout.
Great
A very fine album muscular with memorable melodies. I like it a lot.
I had heard most of these before but it’s still a great album
Mayonaise wow
I enjoyed this album. Loved smashing pumpkins as a teen, but first time I listened to this full album. I liked “Soma” and “Geek USA” especially.
Great album that deserves a 5 but Billy is a douche canoe and his vocals can gnaw on you after a while. He has no range.
Very nice album, has some of the better songs from the Smashing Pumpkins
good energy, nice drums, interesting
Es bastante bueno, no ha envejecido mal, pero algunos sonidos no me atraen los suficiente en una o dos canciones, sin embargo fuera de eso las líricas son muy buenas. :3
I'm grumpy. Why is this cover art not the original cover art? Why do I care? I don't know. But I do. This is such a sentimental favorite that I'm blind to how long it goes and how drone-y and generic it gets in places. There are three to four great songs on this album, so maybe that's enough for me. I don't know. I'm hungry.
Luna and Soma are gorgeous pieces of music. This album is brilliant. 4.5.
Classic, almost metally sound at some points. Pretty good.
4.5 if I could. Obviously the couple big hits but the rest is just as good.
Reminded me how good this is. Not a duff track on it and they’re not afraid of a tune.
solid 4 stars. I enjoyed it and might listen to it again
Really good shit
I like this type of rock and I think that I just turned away from The Smashing Pumpkins in the past because I just did not know what to expect. But this album somehow makes me think that if I had been a teenager in 94, I would definitely have been feeling this while wearing flannel and doc martens and a cigarette in my mouth.
