Very easy and fun listen. Relaxing at times and captures a zeitgeist that continues to exist in America despite the change in time and generations.

This brought back a lot of memories. Nostalgia overload from my last years of high school and the start of college. My rose colored memories create bias, but I think this is a killer album.
When this album was first released I loved it. I wore it out. I haven't listened to it in a decade. It didn't really hold up for me. I expect it was influential and helped set some trends, but I barely made it through without losing interest. A couple good songs, but not moving my needle.
I've never listened to this. I've heard some songs in other places, namely at shows or bars, but this is a first for me. I really enjoyed this album.
I know people love this album, and I enjoy it, but it's hard for me to get through. It's great background Sunday morning music for me, but on the day to day I don't really flow with it enough to be willing to get through the volume of creativity here. The hits are awesome and the lesser known songs are a great glue, but I just can't make it all the way through.
I have only heard the name and not listed to the music of this band. It was a nice introduction and showed me some history to my current preferred bands and their influences. Overall I see the value in this album, but it didn't move the needle for me.
I really like this album. I've never been a big fan of the skit/talking tracks on hip hop and rap albums, but otherwise this would be 5 stars. There are some great tracks and consistency to this album that makes me like it the most of his albums.
I liked this, but I'm not a massive fan of the genre and it didn't sour me nor did it expand my interests. The voice and musical notes were interesting and had some fun layers to the sound.
I knew one The Zombies song. It felt like this album tried to find its groove until then. Like a D&D nerdy version of the music coming out of England at the time. I’m good with it, but without the big hit it would fall flat for me.
The hits on this are some massive ones and they string together well by some lesser known songs that are well produced. As an album it doesn't work as strongly as some others in his collection, but it holds up very well.
I know this is a classic top 10 album, but I can never get through it. I try and I try and I get bored. I'd give it 3 stars, but I'm giving it 4 for my own patience issues.
I enjoyed this. I don't think I ever listened to this album in high school when it came out. I knew the hit, but nothing else.
I don't really like Bjork. It's kind of exhausting to listen to her singles in a mix or on the radio so, I hadn't listened to her albums. I was surprised. I actually enjoyed this album. It's not my normal preference, but this was pretty good, especially while working.
Classic album.
Damn. I’m a sucker for this sound.
Alternative music in this time period sure was moody and depressing. It's well put together, but not for me.
I really enjoyed this. Never heard it or them before. I listened while I was running and it was great tempo and vibe. I'm sure if I understood the language I'd have a deeper appreciation.
Live albums rarely mesh well with my listening habits. I appreciate it, but not firing me up. Also, it's long. So many versions out there that are even longer than the original and it's a commitment that doesn't keep my attention.
I'm not really a Grateful Dead guy, but I respect the hell out of their songwriting and styling. The jam session stuff loses me, so this album was a nice perspective on that opinion. I've viewed them as a singer/songwriter band and not appreciated the moment the music was made and its influence. Good reset on them for me.
At first I didn't like it, but it slowly grew on me.
Felt way too niche for my liking and way too long of an album.
I forgot how many hits were on this album. I was too young to know it when it was released, but it contains anthems of my youth. It reads like a Van Halen (DLR) greatest hits and that might be its downside for me. It's a better grouping of singles to my ears than it is a fully cohesive album in the way I look to listen to albums.
Leonard Cohen is a poet and I know his work, but I don't think I've ever listened to his albums. I didn't expect this album to land well with me, but it was a very easy listen with some great depth.
Oasis was formative or me, but I prefer "Morning Glory" to this album.
Loved it.
Glorious, but long at times. I’m going to be purchasing the vinyl for my home listening.
As much as I like Tracy Chapman’s singing and excellent songwriting, the album didn’t hold up as well for me as I’d hoped it would.
This period was too melancholy for me.
Solid Queen. I remember it being better back in my high school days.
I liked some of it, but it wasn't all for me. It didn't flow the way I found other albums of hers flow to my liking.
This is the kind of album that I wish I had the proper historical perspective to appreciate. I can hear it's influences, and hear the influence it's had, but I don't lack the proper appreciation for its momentum in the moment. I do like it, but not as much as I'd hoped.
It's a greatest hits of sorts, that is still playful. It's an 80s sound that has a timeless appeal, but it's not timeless.
Starts out like a greatest hits for those of us only familiar with the band from classic rock radio play. Then it changes to a fun regionally inspired blues rock vibe.
I grew up listening to this album on family road trips, so I'm heavily influenced by nostalgia. I love it.
Some Brian Eno I like, an some I can't get my head to love. This one is tough for me. It never kept my attention.
I’m a sucker for a good cover song and some of these are on par with the originals.
Feels timeless and somehow very of the moment it was created.
I was in middle school when this dropped and it was totally different from most of what I was into at the time. It holds up well for me, nostalgia bias and all, it's well done.
College anthem album that doesn't work as well as an album as the memorable songs do.
I love James Brown, but I struggle with live albums. Rarely the live component improves the listening experience for me and this wasn't one of those times. There's a visual component necessary for me to enjoy a live album.
It's been a long time since I listened to this album. I'm not sure if it's the nostalgia or not, but the music and rap are still very solid. I would have rated it higher but the length created by skit elements. The voiceover skit and referential track sound to start or end a track doesn't appeal to me now and it didn't when this came out.
I can only imagine the live element of this played extremely well in person. I'm sure a video of the concert works great too, but the crowd noise and sound just kills this album for me.
Just didn't hit right with me on many levels.
Not my favorite Beatles, but still good stuff. There are hits in there, but the album doesn't play as cohesively as I prefer. I found myself distracted at times. Still deserves a listen.
It's just not for me, but the musical skill set is nice.
I wore this out in high school and in college study sessions. I haven't listened to it in a very long time, but it slams. The flow is great and easy to listen to with minimal lyrical involvement. Good grooves.
CSN&Y have great appeal to me. There are moments of that appeal on this solo adventure, but I just can't keep with it through out the album. The recording quality struggles at times. There is an identifiable stylistic nostalgia here, but it's not cohesive enough to keep my attention or peak my interest.
I'm not a Funk guy, but I do like Jazz. I thought I wouldn't be into this, but here I am enjoying the eclectic and playful vibes.
I tried, but I really couldn't get into this. It had no appeal to me in any way.
The skit, talking and intro on albums is normally an instant turnoff for me, but it works better on this album, for my tastes. It helps connect the writing thought process. Combine this unexpected bonus with the unique lyrical perspective and beats and I'm sold on this one.
I always want to like this more than I do. It's got some great hits on it, but I can never make it through the album.
Still solid.
Not for me. Not even the nostalgia could keep me engaged.
Started out strong with a bit of nostalgia and then it fell flat and eventually numbing. It just lacked the added energy of Steely Dan, who I like.
Oooh. This one took me by surprise. I feel like I was introduced to something I didn't know existed, but feel right at home with like it's always been in my listening rotation.
Total nurture bias, but this is comfort food for my ears. It might not be for all, but it just sits right with me.
Too long. It works as background tunes, but to sit down and invest in it was too much for me to follow.
I love this album, but I can never get through this album in one listening session.
In my youth I wouldn't have appreciated this like I do now. Well produced, well executed, not my preferred listening routine, but I still enjoyed it.
It's been a while since I've listened from start to finish. Still solid, but not as impactful as it was when I was younger.
As this is not my first language I really only have the ability to comment on the melodies and musical execution. Overall I enjoyed the album and the changes that tied back to a cohesive sound. I was a little disoriented by the manipulation of stereo sound at times and that isolation took me out of the listening experience more than once.
My first reaction was to rate this a 5, but that comes from a place of bias. I am a fan of his music and find myself drifting back to his singles, often. I've come to appreciate his albums for the musical creativity and well executed connection between songs. This might be top of the tier for a Joel album in that regard, but I'm not hitting a 5 on this one. I would, but I've found the lyrics don't live up to the same standards that Joel's music creates. There are so many great singles on this a wonderful vibe, but there are moments that the lyrical storytelling falls short of the instrumental performance. If I could give a 4.5/5 I would.
The jam band hater in me doesn't want to like this, but the jazz fan in me appreciates the freedom in the musical experimenting. I realize that doesn't make sense, but it feels right. There's a rawness to the musical talent and experience on this effort that, contextually, was transitional. That feels important and the vibe is right. I like this more than I remember from my college listening days. It appears to have grown on me.
A little rough around the edges. Perhaps intentionally so, but I still wanted a bit more from it. That said, I was unexpectedly committed to the listening from start to finish. It sounded like a more recent album than one that is more than 20 years old.
Lyrically and melodically this is about as well written an album as you'll find. Unfortunately, it just doesn't resonate with me enough to hold my attention throughout the entire album. The lack of energy eventually takes its toll and my attention is lost.
I love Sam Cooke. I just can't get into this live album and that's a bummer for me.
The music is great. I just don't enjoy live performance recordings as much as live studio albums.
I had low expectations and normally don't like live recordings, but this was a very pleasant surprise.
Not for me and the quality of the production seems inconsistent and rough at times. It took me out of the listening experience.
There are moments of intensity that impress me, but overall it just wasn't for me.
I'm not a fan of live albums, but this one seems to do the most for me in adding to the zeitgeist of an album and the artist when recording it.
