Reviews (page 7 of 7)

The guitars are pretty awesome, and it's indeed what you'd want in a thrash metal album, but I did not enjoy this as much as "Rust in Peace." It's just not quite as interesting to me.

This is not the first Megadeth album that I have listened to, but this was the first listen for this album. I didn’t discover anything new about Megadeth with this album. Lots of fast guitar runs and rapid drum beats, then some yell-fashioned lyrics and there you have it. Just not for me really…and I spent the day on a home project pouring some concrete and my back is sore, so I am hard to impress right now.

They've got volume and speed if you like that sort of thing. I'm finding that I need more...a poetic lyric here and there, a melody, a hook, a groove. I've tried keeping an open mind and looking for things to like but I think I'm ready to say that thrash metal just isn't for me.

I expected to hate this a lot more than I did, but I still don't think thrash is my genre of metal. Impressive guitar skills though!

There are Megadeth albums I can sit through and occasionally enjoy, but this ain't one of them. Forgettable stuff.

Not my speed, but competently made. Just a bit too screamy and deathy for me. *Shrug* what do you expect from 'Megadeath'

Un poco cansino. No es muy molesto a los oídos. Pero no me gusta. Un 2

Un poco cansino. No es muy molesto a los oídos. Pero no me gusta. Un 2

Boy this is cringe from a lyrics standpoint. Music ok to good. Wouldn’t listen again

OG 80s power rock. Never really listened to these guys, or at least not knowingly. It's OK, not amazing. 2/5

its metal

it was a little too heavy metal for me. don’t get me wrong i do like hard core stuff but i don’t know some of it was just off eh

Dave Mustaine is a complete moron and giant asshole. Doesn't matter to the music but it needed to be said. onward... I wasn't too excited for this - I was very into hard rock in the 80s but the heaviest never appealed to me - I was a big Iron Maiden fan but their appeal was due to their melody and anthemic songs. Knowing Megadeth was an offshoot of Metallica (a band I've never liked) and in the thrash metal vein I'm not sure I ever explicitly listened to them, outside of the random video or someone else playing them. After the first song honestly the music is kind of cool in parts, but I'm definitely turned off by the growly vocals. And especially where Dave Mustaine sounds like James Hetfield is a big turn-off. "Peace Sells" is a fun throwback as that opening bass riff was the theme for MTV news back in the early 90s :) and "My Last Words" is frenetic in an early-Maiden kind of way, that's one I don't mind at all. But this is definitely not for everyone, and not really for me - "The Conjuring" is a good example of what I had expected: incredibly fast and precise thrashing, double kick-drums on display, quick tempo pivoting - really talented playing and musicianship. Overall not much constructive to say from my standpoint - I like it better than Metallica (low bar) and I can see why people would like this but I can't get into it. 3/10 2 stars

"We'll see when the other metal bands come up on the list, but I think Anthrax just isn't that good." Which takes us to the first of the "Big 4" metal bands to come up since that disappointing day we received Anthrax in late July. And what's the verdict? Megadeth's "Peace Sells..." is better than Anthrax. Though of course, that's not saying much. I don't like Dave Mustaine's vocals. I also don't completely hate them? Some of the guitar playing stands out as different than what I expect from 80s thrash metal, such as on "I Ain't Superstitious." There were also a few tracks with some segments that sounded a bit proggy. None of this saves it. **, and only to distinguish it from Anthrax and Sepultura.

Wow, those guitars and drums are...unrelenting.

Is it the most annoying thrash metal album on this list? No. I guess that is good enough for the extra star.

Ultimately there are two Achilles heals for this album: 1) the lead singer’s voice is not great and most importantly 2) the musical arrangements are undisciplined. It’s very clear that there is ample musical talent here: thumping bass lines and shredding guitars abound. As I’ve complained for enough times in these first 95 albums, Megadeth (like the others) does not know when to rein it in. Far too many times they try to cram as many musical notes in as possible without realizing less is more. Some of these guitar riffs are great…head bang all day and bounce around in the pit. Hell yeah! But the lead guitar is over indulgent…ALOT. It’s the opposite of gluttonous actually…instead of consuming too much, a plethora is produced. If only Megadeth would have known that a 4 oz filet mignon with a side of mashed potatoes is vastly more appealing than the unlimited trips to the Golden Corral buffet they gave us. It’s a pity really. A seasoned producer should have told them to dial it back a thousand notches. A magnificent album could have resulted. Additionally, the lead singer alone knocks them down a 🌟 .

So, as it turns out, I'm not a Megadeth fan, and I really tried

Its alright nothing amazing. I might be biased though because the lead singer is a nob

But too raw, but too same-ish

Wore thin pretty quick with me. I gravitate more towards doom/sludge than thrash when it comes to metal.

Not too much of a thrash metal fan, disclaimer. Album started off ok but beyond the first three songs, there was nothing appealing for me.

It was okay.

Tjah, det er meget Megadeth-agtigt.

Lol not sure how long I'll be able to stick with this. I made it through three songs.

This was better than I expected. It is still absolutely awful. Just not as awful as I assumed.

No sale

Not really my vibe, but wasn't terrible

Alkuasetelma oli varovaisen innostuneena odottava. Megadeth on aina jäänyt minulta vähän pimentoon symphony of destruction -hittiä lukuunottamatta.

just really really not my type at all

Not a big metal guy, but I didn't hate the album by any stretch

Some good riffs in there

Rust in Peace is way better

That voice. Ugh. I don’t mind things that sound like noise, but this sounds like bad noise.

I started out excited to listen to some hard rock, and by the second song I was ready for a change of pace. Idk if this album just caught me in the wrong mood, or if I never knew I didn't like thrash metal. And I'll say there were one or two REALLY nice solos in hidden in here, but that wasn't enough to change my mind on the whole album.

Heavy metal music, real life heavy metal music. It's okay.

not so much my jam, megadeth is alright

Oh God, I hate trash metal... 🙄 01) Wake Up Dead - 5,5 02) The Conjuring - 4,0 03) Peace Sells - 5,0 04) Devils Island - 5,0 05) Good Mourning/Black Friday - 5,5 06) Bad Omen - 4,5 07) I Ain't Superstitious - 5,0 08) My Last Words - 5,0 TOTAL: 4,94 (49/100)

Didn't do it for me. Sorry. Seems to have good guitar solos.

Beyond painful…

Maybe I am just getting old...

would give a 0 if I could

Just don't like the way this genre sounds

*no music, screeching and banging instruments. Screaming vocals.

Scream scream scream. Bang bang bang. Chunka chunka.

Yikes! Whatever this is... I'm not buying

- I have a feeling that I may not enjoy this album much - I can vaguely hear the king crimson influence but not sure if it'll win me over - It did not win me over

The metal music was invented but lyrics of death, satanic rituals, murder and celebrating Russian roulette (memories of those scenes from “The Deer Hunter” which I saw opening night) were too much for me.

On a song to song basis, each of these is merely annoying. I can tolerate (not enjoy) each track on its own. As a full album, though, this becomes interminable for me.

Better than slipknot?

I tried, i really tried. I love some metal but not this metal. It was good to hear a talented rhythm guitarist under all the noodling. And some if the lyrics were quite funny. But mostly rubbish and the disc 2 live version was really facking awful

so not my kind of music. I can say yeah, but the guitarists - but I won't bc it annoys me that this menacing noise is what they made with their guitars.

couple thoughts about megadeth: Dave Mustaine is such an asshole that even Lars Ulrich and James Hetfield couldn’t put up with him. Lars Ulrich! babies are born knowing how to cry and that Lars Ulrich is a complete asshole. how bad must Mustaine be? (pretty bad man) back in 1999 or so for reasons I don’t remember I bought whichever Megadeth album had the song Crush ‘Em. Bad song, bad album, but it came with this huge CD sampler full of songs by 20-some other bands. That sampler got me deeper into Type O Negative, a band I’d be giving so many fives if this ridiculous list included them, and introduced me to System of a Down. (Also Puya, Full Devil Jacket, and to a much much lesser extent Chevelle) At any rate Type O Negative rules and if I had to pick one of their albums for the list it would probably be October Rust even though it would more likely be Bloody Kisses Megadeth sucks

Not my kind of music

Not my cup of tea

Not for me. 1/5

Prefer my metal slower, more melodic, and less... thrashy, maybe? That said I'm on the intro to Good Mourning right now and I'm jelling with this. Okay, now it's super fast again and I'm like, ow, headache. I think this is just very not for me.

Not in the mood for thrash metal today.

Lots of death references. Please put this album six feet under. So dated, so bad. Wyld Stallyns, but worse.

I’ve already had to listen to one dreadful megadeath album. No more……!

This is what people who hate Metallica think Metallica sounds like. Metal is probably my lowest rated genre here. But I do like metal, it is just that most of the metal on this list sucks.

The voice sounds exactly like you'd expect that skeleton on the album art to sound. Mostly guitar chugging bullshit.

As albums go in general, this is not worth mentioning or even considering. As heavy metal goes, this is just meh.

Hate this. So much.

I can’t listen to this long enough to even try and write an informed review. It’s terrible.

I didn’t really like Megadeth like I hoped I would! I liked the guitar solos, but overall the lyrics didn’t do it for me.

Not for me

Not for me

1 or 2 songs tolerable, but def not my jam. 1.5

couldn’t make it through, metal is just not for me 💗

Lame but thinks it’s cool. One star seems harsh for an album that is just harmless fun but I didn’t have fun so mission failed. Rating: 1.5

fast drum beats combined with the generic heavy guitar riff into generic guitar solo accompanied with generic heavy voice talking about the devil to sound hard - rinse repeat times 8. I am sure it is a fantastic album for people who like this sort of thing, but not for me. 1 star

This was going to be a one, but then I found a different remaster. Then it was going to be a 2 until the song I Ain’t Superstitious. That song sucks.

Christ on a bike, I gave up about halfway through.

Now I remember why I don’t listen to Megadeath. It sucks.

I did enough megadeth to last a lifetime with an ex who worshiped them. For this im biased.

Nah. Not interesting at all

Not so much a mega death as a minor injury. I’m glad I never have to listen to this again.

Not for me

Not my thing

GARBAGE AAAAAH

Really not a fan

I just don’t like metal and I dont listen to eat with a discerning ear. It was a chore to listen to this man… idk I’m just a square

80s metal is so far from my wheelhouse it may as well be astrophysics. There's just so. Much. Guitar. Waves and waves of it. All the trickery unleashed in one song. There's a coherence in there somewhere but I can't with lyrics about summoning the devil and then sitting through 10 snarling guitar solos. I'm doing my due diligence and giving each song a minute but it all sounds the same - the tempo never changes, the Guitars are unrelenting. As someone who went to a Guns n Roses concert and sat barfing throughout most of it, I'm having great difficulty with this much ROCK.

Too fast too loud, too many wild and Speedy guitar solos and too much growling. Basically everything making this Trash Metal I guess.

It's definitely heavy metal. Not my thing so hard to say how good it would be if I was into this stuff.

Not a fan of heavy metal.

More Trash Metal, not my thing I suppose

It’s Black Friday think I’ll paint the devil on the wall. Ok. Glue sniffing barrage of relentless guitars released from the depths of hell. Not in a good way. My Last Words is a delightful primer on how to blow your brains out with a gun. Wait for the click!

I hope I have little to no more punk/metal albums left. I can’t stand this sound at all. Sorry

Not in the mood for thrash metal today. I gave Slayer a 2 and I think this is worse so I guess its a 1.

Ensformig, langdrygt og kjedelig i lengden

No idea what this is. Not music. 1 star.

Never heard these guys. what the hell... Ugh. Yuck. Nope!

Watered down version of Metallica.

This one was slightly better than the last one, but I can’t do this thrash metal

Too aggressive and loud for me. Fast paced. Gravelly, rough vocals. Hurts my ears and probably hurt his throat.

Two Megadeth albums on this list is too many lol

Metal is really not my thing, especially this one sounds generic

Gave me a headache.

Inget för mig

Megadeath sucks

Just not a Megadeth fan

No thanks.

Mega nope

Not for me struggle to listen to it all

Hard to listen to. Lije nails on a chalkboard

Anstrengend

I still don't get thrash.

Sorry. Couldn’t manage more than 15-20 minutes.

Yeah, I'm not buying.

I like the idea of Megadeth. I don't like Megadeth.

I really tried but metal is not my thing.

I couldn't make it through. Quit at track 4. I thought the 1st track had a bit of a punk vibe and that I would enjoy the album more but eventually it was nails on a chalkboard noise.

Not my thing. Never has been.

I guess this serves a purpose to some people but it's so diluted and dull. Devoid of originality and lacking integrity.

Sorry, but I don't do thrash metal. If you could hear toothache it would sound like this....

Cartoonishly immature drivel.

Boring and same-y. No memorable hooks. I find the singers voice grating enough to downgrade it to one star (the music itself would get a two).

A bit too rockin’

Well I’d buy a bit of peace from this album. 1/5 20/11/24

Just: UGH. Definitely not for me

Not as bad as the other metal stuff we've had... but did not enjoy. The only thing that was interesting was comparing the Burns mix to the Lani mix and getting an idea of the impact of the mix on the product; the latter sounded much better.

1. dead - 1 2. conjuring - 1.5 3. peace - 1 4. izland - 1 5. mourning - 1.5 6. omen - 1 7. zuperztitiouz - 1 8. uuordz - 1.5 9. intro - 0 10. dead - 1 11. conjuring - 1 12. omen - 1 13. rattle - 1.5 14. killing - 1.5 15. crozz - 1 16. uuordz- 1 17. peace - 1 18. bootz - 0 19. izland - 1.5 20. deth - 1.5 21. mechaniz - 1

has some fun moments but its cheesy as fuck and it has no business clocking an hour and a half.

Anstrengend

Unappealing

This is the type of metal I don't abide

Not for me

Terrible, unlistenable, stuck with it and it got worse

Sorry but just can’t with this one. It’s not fun or interesting music.

p551. 1986. 1 star. Tedious generic heavy metal with no redeeming features and a vocalist who can't sing. Additional point deducted for the utterly redundant cover of I Ain't Superstitious. Willie Dixon must be rotating in his grave.

Mega-arse

I couldn’t do it. I really wanted to. I’m not judging metal on this but god I just don’t like it. It’s boring to me, very sorry, honestly. First record I haven’t finished.

Why oh why do we have to listen to more than one Megadeth album?

1st thought upon seeing the album... "Oh Lordy, here we go with more noise!" LOL And.... I'm out. This is just MORE FUCKING NOISE!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus Christ, I must be getting old! So much music sounds like noise to me now. Or maybe it always was just noise and I was too young to care!

So gross, and yesterday was Anthrax WTAF

Wake Up Dead Peace Sells

MegaNO

Why so angry? And a double album, with the second half being live versions of crappy songs? No thanks

Not for me thank you.

I had to force myself to get through this one.

*shudder*

Reminds me soo much of my High School Football days. This type of music was always on in the weight room. Glad my music tastes have done a complete 180.

Schluss nach 4 Liedern. Ich habe es versucht, es bleibt scheußlich.

ughhh! more high itched screaming. Pass

Nej och åter nej. Det är så jävla dåligt.

Got bored, not my thing

I really don’t like metal. The tempo, the themes, all of it. I get it’s skilled playing, but just not for me.

Peace Sells offers a relentless barrage of thrash metal intensity that may leave some listeners feeling overwhelmed. The album's heavy guitar riffs and fast-paced drumming create a pounding sensation that can feel like a headache after prolonged listening. While the energy and aggression are undeniable, the repetitive nature of the music can become tiresome. Tracks blend together, making it difficult to distinguish one from another. Despite these criticisms, there are moments of brilliance scattered throughout the album, with standout solos and intense vocal delivery from Dave Mustaine. Ultimately, Peace Sells may appeal more to die-hard thrash metal fans who thrive on its unrelenting intensity, whilst I simply found it to be too much. NUMBER OF BANGERS - 0 STAND OUT TRACK - None

I just don’t like metal

No thanks

No. Just no.

It's just noise. Did not finish.

I'd call it 'music for disaffected high schoolers on amphetamines', but that makes it sound much more fun than the turgid, interminable thrash metal it is.

when kids wear megadeath tees (still), i wonder if they listen to the band…

Annoying whining voice

It’s a no from me dawg

Album a Day Tandon Scale Rating: 1.75 Standouts: Wake Up Dead, Peace Sells Foot Notes: 1 This is facemelting 2 sometimes I like Dave’s voice and sometimes I really do not 3 I wonder how much coke these guys were on Would I Listen Again: other than the those two songs it wasn’t for me Album Cover Rating: (1-5) 5 Album Name Rating: (1-5) 5

I didn’t listen to much of it. It’s just not for me. Got 3 songs in. Maybe a performance would be cool?

Too heavy

The more one listens to metal, the more one gets a vague sense of why others might like it – the structural power of the constant jug-jug-jug. But one still struggles to see why anyone would want to listen beyond a song or two, because it's just so loud and repetitive and monotonous to the the point of being monolithic. The title is meant to be funny or or clever, one supposes, but finds it to be neither. Perhaps all that can be said is that metal is the sort of thing one likes if one likes that sort of thing, which one definitely does not.

Not my style. The singer is...well not singing. The coordinated noise in the background adds up to the displeasure of listening this "thing".

Sick title but the music… NOT for me unfortunately

Absolutely not under any circumstances.

Not my style

I don't like Megadeth

Maybe it's the fact the we got a Megadeth album just a week ago and two Megadeth albums in 1 week is a bit much. I didn't enjoy anything from this and found it boring. Endless riffs that never really caught on. Just wasn't in the mood for thrash to begin with.

I’m on a bad run. I think might be the final nail. Roll on tomorrow

Tired old metal trope. Nothing new here, hackneyed rigs that have been aired a thousand times. Not for me Clive.

Too much Metal lately. 5th album on the bounce. Hated this one too loud. Guitar too screechy

Terrible even by Metal standards. 1/5

Nothing particularly redeemable here….

Just relentless in its humorlessness and one-notedness and utter failure to appeal to anyone other than those predisposed to like this sort of thing.

Can't stand ya

You know it's going to be bad as soon as you read the title. It's like a parody of heavy metal.

Hard pass.

Not for me sorry

Someone stop all this nonsense.

So the first song starts; OK so far, then the overbearing guitar solo hits and I think yikes, no thanks. Well at least it doesn't last too long. Then the 2nd solo starts, again short, then a third solo hits and I think really, three guitar solos in a 3 and a half minute song? The next song is 5 minutes long. Help me! This may be the first album I am unable to make it through. Well I made it through - suffice to say this is not music that touches my soul. 1.5 stars

Seemingly endless yet over fairly quickly - this may be the soundtrack to purgatory. Guitars chug, solos widdle and the vocals grunt. Brilliant or awful, it doesn't matter.

Woah. Skulls! So edgy. This at times is a hybrid of punk and Sabbath, but with the added "bonus" of terrible 80s production and double bass drum pedals...barf. A good example of metal being extremely one dimensional/uninteresting. Not sure what is redeemable about this. Plus it fucked up my suggested albums algorithm

Not interested

Could not finish. Tried my best. Just not my jam.

i will now judge people who wear megadeath shirts more severely.

Slitsomt :P

Awful. I imagined it to be much noisier than it was. Lumpen, repetitive, and really not my thing.

Wow this was... shit.

Did not finish but also did not despise.

Here's the thing...I don't like Heavy Metal. I especially don't like HM where the songs take a back seat to guitar wankery. I managed to get through this album, but just barely. 1 🌟

Your mother wouldn't like it - and she'd be spot on!

Not your average metal head here so wasn't looking forward to this one. First Time listen and I find little to enjoy here. Sub earl Sabbath I think. Wouldn't be on my list!

HATE THIS SO MUCH STOP GIVING IS MEGADEATH

It's just not good is it? It all sounds like joke music but knowing that it isn't makes it very hard to listen to

shite, pure shite

Didn't enjoy this at all, at risk of sounding like a boomer, I can't really hear the lyrics super well over the instruments. Exceedingly boring about 2 songs in

Nope. Just not my cup of tea.

So nicht.

Grown up Bart Simpson still loves this.

Not my kind of music...

Considered with care: Haiku like my ears deserve better. Mega Don't

What a terrible streak of albums this has been. Hopefully it gets better tomorrow. Hate this. 1 star.

Yep. Don’t like this.

Quiero vomitar.

Im to old for this shit... letra pendeja.

Awfully predictable. 🤟🏻

It's not my thing. I could get through it.

Heard the name Megadeth and assumed it'd be Megapoo. Was proven correct

Too metal for me

Couldn’t make it though. Didn’t like it. Tried but couldn’t get into it.

Megabreath

I didn't even listen to it, automatic one star lol
