Girls Against Boys
5/5
Honestly the fist time I’ve heard this, had this band on my list of post-hardcore bands to check out… They just weren’t high on that list and their name sounds uninspired.
This album is great, Ted Niceley sound is on point, fits right in with the early Fugazi albums.

Beastie Boys
5/5
Another likely biased review, this album is great. I would maybe say too much filler and less rap, but the instrumental stuff is so good and chill.
I vividly remember so many parties and good times with this album on. One of my go to albums from my late teens and beyond.

The Residents
4/5
As a longtime Primus fan, heard a few familiar tracks on this one. This is nice and weird, love it!

Pixies
5/5
Too biased on this one, but here’s an album I didn’t fall in love with until it had been out for almost 20 years! Late to the party, but it’s a timeless classic for me.

Can
4/5
Wow! Where has this been all my life, amazing psychedelic madness like an acid trip. Love the drum patterns on some of the instrumentals. A couple tracks were a bit too spacey and ambient, kinda just filler for this huge double album.

Alice In Chains
5/5
Amazing album, one of my favourites, always in the rotation at least every 6 months since I was 14.
Why do I love depressing music so much?
Cream
5/5
Excellent album, I had the ‘Best of’ Cream CD which got a lot of play. Only listened to this album about 4-5 times in full. Decided to listen to the Deluxe Edition which was cool.
Favourite tracks Swlabr and Tales of Brave Ulysses
Ella Fitzgerald
4/5
Good album, not a style of music I would typically listen to.
The War On Drugs
3/5
Very atmospheric, very Americana, kinda like revamped Springsteen to me. Not bad, would listen again in the right time and headspace.
Nirvana
5/5
Iconic classic, haven’t listed to it for a while as most of side A is regular FM classic rock radio play. But it’s still one of my favourites. Really like the run of Territorial Pissings to Drain You to On a Plane.
Beatles
5/5
The Smiths
4/5
Excellent album, for whatever reason I’ve always listened to The Queen is Dead, haven’t really listened to this in entirety before.
Beastie Boys
4/5
Original style, classic sounds
Radiohead
4/5
Lovely album by Radiohead, it’s hard to say it’s their best though, I’m sure some would argue. Not my favourite style of Radiohead, but very, very good.

Happy Mondays
3/5
Not super into this, I think maybe just didn’t age well. Kinda generic sounding now, at the time in 1990 probably would have blown me away more.
Kanye West
4/5
Really like the aggressive production on some of this, not too into Kanye’s lyrics so much on this one. He’s a rich guy that likes fuckin, we get it.
Frankie Goes To Hollywood
3/5
Blondie
4/5
Better than I expected, great album.
Talking Heads
4/5
John Lee Hooker
3/5
Mike Ladd
4/5
Wow! How the fuck have I never listened to this, love the Company Flow feature, love the vibe. Gritty underground NYC hip hop at its peak.
The National
3/5
Not bad, just not very exciting to me, might depend on the mood when listening to something like this. I’m really giving it the rating based on music feel , not so much songwriting and lyrics…
Stevie Wonder
5/5
Red Hot Chili Peppers
4/5
One of my favourite albums, mostly for nostalgia and Chad Smiths drumming on point.
Lynyrd Skynyrd

The Sabres Of Paradise
4/5
This is amazing, love finding new electronic albums, never heard of this but great work music.
Ali Farka Touré
3/5
Iron Maiden
4/5
This is just so good, had this tape when I was younger, but didn’t really appreciate it back then. Over the years I’ve grown into a bigger Iron Maiden fan, appreciating the songwriting and technical musicianship they bring to the table. This album isn’t my favourite Maiden album although it has 2 of my all time favourites (Children of the Damned, Hallowed by thy Name).
Very solid 4+
Orbital
3/5
Guns N' Roses
5/5
Classic, for me this has some serious nostalgia, I can’t even say it’s aged or not since I keep it in rotation. Good drinking music, the cowbell just rips on some tracks. I wouldn’t be surprised if other folk thought giving this 5 is too much, but to me it’s just so good.
Chicago
4/5
This is surprisingly bad ass, I thought Chicago was soft rock or something. Not this album, like Cream or some noisy rock mixed with jazzy soul. I really dig this!
Public Enemy
4/5
Top notch production for early 90s rap, still gets the head nods
Marty Robbins
4/5
Great album, love this man’s voice
Talking Heads
4/5
Sly & The Family Stone
4/5
David Gray
2/5
Not a big fan of this, talented singer and songwriter, probably won’t listen again.
Nick Drake
4/5
Quite enjoyed this one
Iron Maiden
4/5
Solid, I love how after many, many years later a couple songs are still staples in their live shows.
Pink Floyd
4/5
Great album
Megadeth
4/5
One of the good classic Megadeath albums. I had this tape when I was 12, it still rocks!
2/5
This is not something I would listen to again, but I appreciate it probably inspired later 80s pop music. The slap bass and some drum patterns were decent on some spots.
R.E.M.
4/5
Alt rock classic, before my time, but I love this album. I only knew the 90s REM and took me until I was older to dig back into their catalog… which had sooner
Van Morrison
3/5
Montane is a great track, rest of the album is ok, nothing can top brown eyed girl
ABBA
2/5
ABBA with no hits
Kate Bush
2/5
Ghostface Killah
4/5
Real good shit, haven’t bumped this in a while, should be downloaded. Could be a 5, but the skits are a bit much.
Johnny Cash
4/5
Legacy edition, it’s more than just Johnny. Seriously the 2nd track Flowers on the Wall by The Statler Brothers was one of my favourites.
Various Artists
3/5
Jane Weaver
4/5
Wow, I had no expectations here and this is seriously good, would listen again and check out some of her other work.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
5/5
Excellent album, I’ve heard one or two of the tracks before, never listened to it front to back. The standout track was Woodstock, they’ve done the best version.
There is so much good was packed in one short album, gotta give it a 5
Steely Dan
5/5
Green Day
5/5
Coldplay
3/5
Goldie
5/5
Fucking classic, when the bass drops 5 minutes into the opener is just epic. Long time DnB fan, gotta give this top rating since it may be the only one of the genre on this list.
Lightning Bolt
4/5
I queued this up and Apple Music said it was punk, I did not expect this noise rock intensity. I dig this kind of music sometimes, but this was a bit much at times, wish I could see them live. Mixed between a 3-4, giving it a 4 after reading a bit more about the group. If it was just purely on the audio with no context maybe more of a 3.
Isaac Hayes
2/5
This is alright for a soundtrack, quite a few epic melodies that have been sampled in hip hop. This is far from the best Isaac Hayes though, probably would not listen again.
Beck
4/5
This has some serious nostalgia vibes, came out when I was the perfect target audience for this as a white suburban kid in grade 10.
Think it’s aged pretty well, it’s kind of strange music to be honest, I feel like at the time there was better underground music in the same vain. But Beck earned the spot from his previous album smashing it.
4 stars
AC/DC
4/5
This music rocks, from the opening riff it’s just consistent heavy rock and roll. I don’t often listen to a full AC/DC album, usually fine with the hits, not too many notable ‘deep cuts’ here. I do like more of the heavy bluesy tracks like Night Prowler. This set the stage for so much of the 80s metal genre.
It may be Bon Scott’s best performance and a shame he didn’t get to enjoy the huge worldwide success on the back of this work.
The Charlatans
3/5
Based off the cover and the date released, I was expecting a boy band. This is not bad, I enjoyed the album, but would say it’s kind of generic. B-tier britpop, not a bad album choice if you’ve played out Oasis, Blur and the like.
CHVRCHES
4/5
Some of this is way too catchy and I don’t want to like it but it’s hard not too. It’s interesting how it kind of bridges alternative and electronic for the time, but really is just pop. As a naive pop listener, it seems to me like a lot of mainstream pop for the decade after is just this. Probably won’t listen much again, but can’t deny this is a good album.
Black Sabbath
5/5
This is prime Sabbath, not the most played album for me, but it’s all so good!!
Count Basie & His Orchestra
4/5
Great album, without reading up on it I don’t know the context within jazz history. Still always impressed with the musicianship in the genre. Would listen to this again for sure.
I out this one on while working and was perfect backdrop for coding.
Stevie Wonder
4/5
Classic, good music!
Fats Domino
3/5
The Prodigy
4/5
Have a soft spot for this one from my raving days. Prodigy managed to go back underground a bit more with this one, very influential, great album to get ya pumped!
Neil Young
4/5
The Clash
4/5
Classic and a masterpiece, one of my all time favourites.
Keith Jarrett
3/5
This is wild, didn’t even know what I was listening to, the sporadic groans are a bit off putting. Can tell this man is really into what he’s creating. The idea that the whole album is improvised is amazing to me, but still I’m not likely to replay this often.
The 13th Floor Elevators
3/5
Decent 60s psychedelic rock, but there’s that noise on the track. Strangely almost sounds like record scratching at times, but nope, it’s an Electric Jug. So bizarre, pretty out there.
Franz Ferdinand
4/5
Did not realize this album is 20 years old, I still hear Take Me Out like every time I turn on the radio. Good album, never really heard more than the singles. Really enjoy the bass guitar tone, solid musically.

Cocteau Twins
4/5

Talking Heads
4/5
Pet Shop Boys
3/5
My friend had this CD in high school, the case was orange plastic with the grooves raised up. It looked so cool!
But I still made fun of him for having it, I was a jerk. It’s not the worst album, but not my cup of tea though.
The Temptations
3/5
I had no idea The Temptations ventured into this style of music. Interesting listen
Led Zeppelin
5/5
Holy hell! Yes please this is just insane to be a debut LP, seemingly un-toppable, but Zep just gets better from here. Insane! I can’t believe the skill on this album, all members firing on all cylinders.
Let’s go!
John Bonham, the GOAT
Arguably ever other member GOAT, can’t fuck with Plant, Page or JPJ!
Seriously this album has some tracks that set me in the course for a lifetime of rock and roll addiction. I was 12 years old attempting to play Dazed and Confused on drums, still can’t, but that’s fine. This is raw emotion on rock form that’s been part of me my entire life.
Metallica
5/5
This was the first Metallica tape that I owned. Gotta give it a 5 just for nostalgia.
Really solid thrash all the way through.
Thin Lizzy

Great album, I prefer some of his earlier work, but I can get down with this.

Megadeth
5/5
Possibly my favourite metal album ever, best Megadeth album. 5/5
Country Joe & The Fish
3/5
Was good, but not something I’ll jam on very often
Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
Deep Purple
4/5
Beck
3/5
Probably don’t appreciate this as much as I should. I see this as very mediocre from Beck, he should be more innovative and experimental. Just not my cup of tea
Animal Collective
2/5
This sounds like AI tried to make music and mixed in shitty electronic sounds on some generic alt-pop. It’s not total garbage, maybe don’t age well.
Elton John
4/5
Germs
4/5
Really dig this, punk rock history, essential album
The Kinks
4/5
Enjoyed this
Billy Joel
4/5
Another one of those classic albums I only listen to when listening to classic album lists. It’s not bad, was probably more impressive in ‘77
I really love the stranger melody, having it on the outro was a nice touch. Also great last name Billy
The Who
4/5
William Orbit
3/5
Iggy Pop
4/5

Ice Cube
4/5
Yeah, hard as fuck
The Sonics
4/5
This rocks, did not expect it to go this hard. Excellent album
Eagles
4/5
The first Eagles album, interesting for me since I’ve only usually heard Hotel California or their Greatest hits album. I like this album, good vibe to it, more country sound than their later releases.
Can’t argue that Take It Easy and Witchy Woman are monster hits!
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Frank Sinatra
4/5
Sufjan Stevens
3/5
Thundercat
4/5
This is so weird and great, definitely keep in rotation
Wu-Tang Clan

Another relatively mediocre 60s, rock album. It’s not bad, but fairly forgettable for me. Super generic band name doesn’t help their legacy.

Janelle Monáe
3/5
Stereolab
3/5
Interesting listen, not overly exciting to me though
Madonna
3/5
Wow the opening track took me right back to that time. I like this because it’s basically an electronic album featuring Madonna. Producers deserve title credits!
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions
3/5
David Bowie
4/5
Bowie can do no wrong, I had no idea in 2013 he was releases this surprise album. Really enjoying this, love finding new Bowie album I’ve never heard.
Pink Floyd
4/5
Trippy, so raw compared to later Pink Floyd. I dig it
Dolly Parton
3/5
5/5
Fuck yeah, I love this album. Some of my best times with my friends with this album on acid :)
Justice
4/5
Portishead
4/5
I’m weird, there’s something soothing to me about how on edge and unhinged this album is. I like it a lot!
I’ve only listened to earlier work from Portishead, this was a nice find in this list.
The The
3/5
Dr. Dre
5/5
Can’t say enough about how great this album is. Completely changed the rap game, massive flex from Dr. Dre and the West Coast was on top for years.
When this popped up, I thought maybe it would be dated and I would just like it for the nostalgia. But no, this album goes so hard still in 2024. I listened to this during peak Kendrick/Drake beef and wonder how much an album like this set the stage for that 30 years later. A big part of this album is all the disses on Eazy-E, Ice Cube and others. But for me seriously the variety of beats done back in the day without so many samples is ridiculous, Dre is easily the best producer at that time and maybe of all time.
Deeez Nuuuts!!!
Roxy Music
3/5
OutKast
5/5
One of my top favourite rap artists, I love how OutKast pushed the experimental tracks on this album. At the time it was out of this world for hip hop and still holds up.
A Tribe Called Quest
5/5
Red Snapper
4/5
It’s hilarious that the Wikipedia article just states that the album is on the list… Nothing else about it.
I enjoyed this, appreciated it more knowing the artist uses more live instrumentals and not only electronic.
Joanna Newsom
3/5
Such bizarre vocal delivery, soothing instrumentals, kind of this odd juxtaposition. I need to listen again to make sense of the lyrics, but not sure I actually want to.
Lorde
3/5
Oasis
4/5
Is this album on the list twice? Or was it just all the clones. I don’t know, but I respect Oasis and I think this is their best album. Some very great songs on this one.
Echo And The Bunnymen
3/5
Fuck yes, The Killing Moon is some good shit!
Rest of the album pretty mediocre to me, but seemingly inspirational.
R.E.M.
4/5
Orange Crush, such a great song, it makes me feel like I belong at a college party I’m too young to be at. And for some reason now, in 2024, I just want to play in a band that sounds this cool….
Arcade Fire
4/5
I’m not sure of this album hit as hard outside of Canada, but this was all over the radio for years. 6 fucking singles! Seems like the soundtrack to an era. I appreciate it for what it is/was, never been in my rotation, but can’t say it’s bad. Seems like the peak of Arcade Fire to me.
Separating the music from the artist here, because fuck Win Butler! Piece of shit
David Crosby
3/5
It’s alright, nothing that stands out as great to me
Elvis Presley
4/5
The Afghan Whigs
3/5
Muddy Waters
4/5
Haircut 100
3/5
I had no idea Brit-funk was a thing. It’s interesting, I dove in and listened to the 40th anniversary edition, after 3 hours of this album some of the catchy tunes grew on me. Not sure I’ll ever need to listen again, maybe it’s pretty funky.
Led Zeppelin
5/5
Fleet Foxes
3/5
Lupe Fiasco
5/5
This is a great album, hard to dock marks from this in any way. Lula is a master of his craft, beyond that he’s made some amazing songs on this album.
Dennis Wilson
4/5
Had no expectations here and have never heard of this album. I was pleasantly surprised, I listened to the double album with Bambu, but found that Pacific Ocean Blue on its own was much better.
MC Solaar
4/5
Good rap, no idea what he’s on about, still enjoyed the beats and the flows despite the language
The Doors
4/5
Some great tracks, but overall not an entirely great album. Do like the direction and more bluesy feels.
Beatles
4/5
All great songs, something just feels like it’s a random collection though.
Marianne Faithfull
3/5
Appreciated, rough around the edges new-wave, but album was not consistent enough.
Meat Loaf
3/5
I usually just appreciate the art of the album and avoid personal tastes, but this one I just don’t like. Heard lots of the tracks here and there, not big on rock opera, sounds like bootleg Elton.
Harry Nilsson
3/5
Maxwell
3/5
Bad Brains
5/5
Yes, so good wish I’d listened to this earlier in my lifetime.
Metallica
5/5
Feels like this has been with me my whole life, nearly has. Every song on this is great and each song has, at one time, been my favourite song on the album. Currently, I’d say Orion is the best track.
Easy 5/5 for so many reasons, nostalgia, lyrics, impact, musicianship, masterpiece
Stevie Wonder
5/5
The Bees
4/5
I enjoyed
Charles Mingus
4/5

Nine Inch Nails
5/5
I fucking love this album, it has gotten me through life in a lot of ways.
I’m too biased to even really review this, but so many great tracks. This is really a unique and complete album, some cool recurring melodies and themes throughout.

4/5
I like hearing something way out of my wheelhouse, this was decent, I have no reference to compare though. Good to chill to
Garbage
4/5
This is very 90s, some nostalgia on the singles for me. Garbage to me always felt very manufactured for radio friendly music, ignoring those feelings and giving it a fresh listen here. Good album, deserved all the accolades
Sam Cooke
3/5
Jungle Brothers
4/5
Jacques Brel
3/5
Beatles
4/5
Linkin Park
5/5
I can see why people see this as cringe or corny or whatever. But this album was huge for me, still a great listen.
To me I think this was the first big Nu Metal with more legit rapping and electronic influence. It’s raw emotion and hit exactly what suburban North American culture was at the time.
Dusty Springfield
3/5
Songhoy Blues
4/5
Great discovery, like finding these kind of gems in this list!
Supertramp
5/5
Amazing

Neil Young & Crazy Horse
4/5
Few of my favourite tracks on this along with some filler
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
4/5

4/5
The Only Ones
4/5
Better than expected. A lot variety in this one album, skilled musicians. Based on the music video and lead single I was expecting to give a 2 to 3. But they pulled it up as the album went along. Barely a 4
Christina Aguilera
3/5
Might get better rating because of the DJ Premier beats on disc 1. But disc 2 is just not really great for me. She’s an amazing talented singer and songwriting is excellent, I just wouldn’t listen to this again.
The Smiths
4/5
Why not 4, can’t hate this enjoyable to listen to. Even as a carnivore
MGMT
4/5
Man them singles is catchy, so simple but catchy, can’t take this too seriously, faint hate it
Kid Rock
4/5
Seems like lots of people hate on this one. I was there when it debuted, thought it was kinda corny but still rocked out to it. Upon re-listen, some of it still rocks, some of it cringe, but now it’s nostalgia. I remember throwing this in the discman to cut the lawn, high AF
The White Stripes
4/5
White Stripes can do no wrong, great album
Beatles
4/5
Before listening to this I have preconceived notion this is The Beatles greatest album, although it’s not my favourite of theirs.
It’s great, but to me seems like a lot of weird random filler type songs. Solid 4
Norah Jones
4/5
Pleasant
Public Enemy
5/5
Coldplay
2/5
Didn’t care for this when it came out, still dislike. I can’t get into this

Gets better the more you listen, I swear. Gotta keep this one in rotation
Rod Stewart
2/5
Blur
4/5
Bruce Springsteen
4/5
Alexander 'Skip' Spence
2/5
No idea why w was listening to this, so I read up on Mr. Spence here… quite a piece of work, album is still nearly unlistenable.
Giving it a 2 because I appreciate the lore.
4/5
Wow! Amazing, love these unexpected gems on this list
Tracy Chapman
4/5
Classic iconic album!
Astrud Gilberto
3/5
Steve Earle
3/5
Not bad, appreciate some American county/rock now and then. Much better than some of the modern stuff.
Adele
3/5
Not a huge fan of this kind of pop ballad-y type of stuff. But give Adele credit for an amazing performance
The Who
3/5
I’m a fan of the who, but this is not impressive as an album. I can see for miles is a great track, rest is fairly mediocre.
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Pere Ubu
3/5
Lou Reed
4/5
David Bowie
4/5
Frank Sinatra
3/5
Little Richard
4/5

3/5
Roni Size
4/5
Sounds so great, classic. So far 3rd best DnB albums on this list, surprised there was even 1. I’m giving Goldie and LTJ Bukem a better score, although New Forms did have way more UK success.
Nico
3/5
Not spaced out enough to enjoy this one, kinda boring…
Fiona Apple
3/5
Sheryl Crow
4/5
Light 4, actually the deluxe version of this album add some quality content. Otherwise, decent album
Not a big fan of this new millennium U2, not the worst, singles were decent, album overall kinda boring
Nirvana
5/5
Forgot how great this album was. Don’t listen to it often enough. Hard to rate this objectively when it was such a huge part of my youth.
Arcade Fire
3/5
Another Arcade Fire album! This one’s not as great but still decent
King Crimson
5/5
Love King Crimson, easy 5!
The Triffids
3/5
Good to hear some Aussie music that didn’t break in the US, album was a good listen
Jurassic 5
4/5
Pixies
5/5
Too biased on this one, but here’s an album I didn’t fall in love with until it had been out for almost 20 years! Late to the party, but it’s a timeless classic for me.
Slade
3/5
ZZ Top
4/5
Sonic Youth
4/5

Björk
3/5
Small Faces
3/5
The Black Keys
4/5
At the time when this came out I wasn’t a much of a fan. But after giving this a couple plays, I think it’s very solid rock record. Enjoyed, still not a big fan though.
The Stooges
4/5
Radiohead
5/5
Top tier Radiohead
The Divine Comedy
3/5
Not sure I get this, had some Bowie vibes which were good, but kinda all over the place. Interesting with all the instruments, seems like there was potential, but the vocals and lyrics just feel corny.
Kendrick Lamar
5/5
The Who
5/5
U2
4/5
Sonic Youth
5/5
Man the 90s were too good, I had this on heavy rotation during my teens. Might be one of my favourite albums that I forget is so good, revisiting this is such a treat. Sonic Youth brought it so well on this record!
Cat Stevens
4/5
The Smiths
4/5
U2
4/5
Metallica
4/5
Herbie Hancock
5/5
Heard of Herbie Hancock, but never heard this. Amazing, thoroughly enjoyed a couple times.
Jorge Ben Jor
4/5
Solid, funky, great rhythms
Funkadelic
4/5
Amazing for its time, title track alone could be a 5/5, rest of the album not as strong. Really love the closing track, so much packed into a short album.
Jeff Buckley
3/5
Penguin Cafe Orchestra
3/5
Obscure indeed
Machito
4/5
Blue Cheer
3/5
For its time, very loud and chaotic. I found it too sloppy at times. Respect the innovation, but likely wouldn’t listen again.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
5/5
When this came out, I disliked it, I felt like RHCP sold out and changed too much. It took me about 10 years to appreciate it, now it’s one of my favourite albums. I think it’s always been great and amazing they could re-invent their sound. For me it’s really the instrumentals that drive this one, I could care less what they’re singing about.
Light 5
Electric Light Orchestra
4/5
I had high hopes for this, was pretty mediocre though
Adam & The Ants
3/5
Kate Bush
3/5
Blood, Sweat & Tears
4/5

George Michael
3/5
Very iconic if you were around in the 80s, he’s got talent, but the album is meh

Morrissey
4/5
Scritti Politti
1/5
The Avalanches
4/5
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
Half the tracks on this are amazing, the rest are just really great. Jimi is one of my favourites, but I’ve never seen the albums themselves as flawless. Still gotta give it a 5
The Auteurs
3/5
More britpop, nothing terrible, but nothing really stands out.
Aimee Mann
3/5
Willie Nelson
4/5
Spiritualized
3/5
The Pogues
3/5
Cyndi Lauper
4/5
Iconic
Quicksilver Messenger Service
3/5
This feels like the original jam band or something, but the whole album seems like 1 song. Who do you love?
Normally I’d score this higher, but not feeling this one so much today.
Massive Attack
4/5
Beyoncé
3/5
Kanye West
4/5
Maybe my favourite Kanye, but still is Kanye
Curtis Mayfield
4/5
Solid album, better than Shaft and would probably listen to again.
New Order
3/5
Seems like a copy of a lot of alternative bands at the time mixed with electronic type stuff here and there. Really sounds like R.E.M. one song, The Cure another, The Smiths on another, U2 on another. If it wasn’t for this list I wouldn’t be as familiar with this period of music. Kinda thinking this new order album is a bit of a slacker effort.
David Bowie
4/5
B.B. King
4/5
Amy Winehouse
4/5
The Streets
3/5
Kinda corny, but decent story, relatable for the times. I think there’s a better streets album before this one though.

Arcade Fire
4/5
Wow another arcade fire. So wish there was some better other Canadian rock representation on this list.
Great debut album!
Jamiroquai
4/5
First time hearing this, had some later Jamaroquai albums, but never dived in further back. This is a great debut, so funky, great mix of genres, solid 4
4/5
Enjoyed this more than the other PJ Harvey, good listen
Blur
4/5
Jimi Hendrix
5/5
Maybe a bit long, but so many great tracks on this. Love the variety compared with previous work.
Koffi Olomide
3/5
Dolly Parton
4/5
The Roots
4/5
Tim Buckley
3/5
Weird psych folk jazz something or other. Loved the vibraphones, highlight of a couple tracks for me.
Nick Drake
2/5
My feeling this one today, surprised this so the 2nd Nick Drake album on the list here. Appreciate that this is influential, but I enjoyed that later album a bit more.
The Replacements
5/5
Wow, I’ve heard of the replacements, never really listened to an album. Really like this, great mix of punk and early “college rock” sounds. Might be one of my first surprises where I’m giving a 5 star!
Le Tigre
4/5
Surprisingly awesome, very cool album. Only negative from me was vocals sound childish, but all of it was interesting.

4/5
Kinda lacklustre as a full album, but still love Tom Petty
Santana
5/5
Love it!
Elastica
3/5
Rush
5/5
Classic, one of my favourite Rush albums. As a Canadian I’m obliged to rate it 5
Parliament
5/5
Wild Beasts
3/5

The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
4/5
Solid, very relevant content from this early 90s hip hop gem. First I thought it was a PE clone, but there’s definitely room for more of this. Not sure why I’ve never heard of it, but glad I did.
Drive-By Truckers
3/5
Pearl Jam
5/5
LL Cool J
4/5
Tori Amos
3/5
The Rolling Stones
4/5
Gimme Shelter is so good this album almost gets a 5, but the rest of the album was not that impressive for me. Still, it’s the Stones, all sounds good and very American in a British sort of way.

Leonard Cohen
3/5
Method Man
5/5
More of a nostalgia rating here, production is on point, there more than a few bangers. Methodist Man’s style is so unique and was wild for the timeframe, some of the lyrics a bit nonsense though, not too deep.

Prefab Sprout
2/5
Beastie Boys
5/5
Another likely biased review, this album is great. I would maybe say too much filler and less rap, but the instrumental stuff is so good and chill.
I vividly remember so many parties and good times with this album on. One of my go to albums from my late teens and beyond.

This was such a huge part of my childhood. I remember playing this record as a child, listening to the end of thriller when Vincent Price talks over and over again.
Upon listening to this again and knowing a bit more now about the context when the album came out, this one changed the game. Made pop music and pop stars as we know it. Hit gold with this one.

Honestly the fist time I’ve heard this, had this band on my list of post-hardcore bands to check out… They just weren’t high on that list and their name sounds uninspired.

The title track is amazing, although singles overplayed, this album is great.
