Bueno.

For some reason I’ve never been able to connect with Megadeth. This album is well produced, but I don’t love the songs.

Classic thrash metal. Not my typical genre of choice, though I do appreciate the energy.

They're talented... It just fails to go anywhere or mean something.

Not really loving the megadeath kind of metal. One band that I feel just isn’t as good as other artists in their genre. There definitely was some great guitar and drum work in this album though. Even at times where I felt like it was similar to some prog rock music that came out years later. But lyrically and everything else about this album was hard to love but it got the job done I suppose. 5.9/10

The first song just reminds me of something a band in south park would make lol. Megadeth are a confusing band - incredible musicianship coupled with Dave Mustaines horrible vocals. I enjoy listening to them but only once in a while. This album is a decent enough rocker all the way through. Not quite rust in peace though

Once again, excellent riffs and lead guitar, but Mustaine's vocals are shit. Marginally better than Rust in Peace, but frustrating that there is a slot for this album, but not Painkiller, Ride the Lightning, or anything by Sleep.

This was pretty good

A good laugh

Another talented individual who's is such an asshole that it takes away from his brilliance. He's so far stuck up his own ass and it plays out in the music. Still a pretty good album.

Peace Sells was a good opening salvo from the former Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine and his new crew. In truth, Megadeth’s best work was still to come, solidifying them as part of the Big 4 thrash bands. The title track and Good Mourning are key tracks for me, though the cover of Ain’t Superstitious is also fun!

This was pretty cool. I could jam out to this occasionally. This is not the genre of music I would typically choose but I did let this one play longer and re-listened to some of it. I might revisit again someday.

Fun, energetic, homogenous. There’s some lizard part of my brain that just lights up with these sorts of guitar riffs - the musical equivalent of junk food, maybe. I enjoyed it, but the tracks blended into each other and nothing really stood up to grab my attention; nothing really elevated it beyond a sugar rush.

decent thrash, but doesn’t make me want to run through a brick wall. The guitar work is phenomenal - rhythm, leads, and solos ( particularly Bad Omen). All of the musicians are skilled (and like to show it). Can be corny at times, but also nice that they don’t take themselves too seriously. A little more melody and variety in sound would have went a long way. Overall it’s fine, but not a top of the genre (and maybe not my favorite of this band).

head-banging fun, solid entry

I get it, they’re important and one of the Big Four, but you know what? They’re also kinda lame. This was fine, I think I’m just a little more picky with thrash.

Had really low expectations of this album but it was actually OK - some decent power chords going on. A bit too brash for me though.

Classic metal album. Not my style but I can appreciate it.

Sehr schön wie konsequent die Songs gespielt werden, wirkt aber auf mich etwas eintönig.

This album kinda rips ngl. I’m not a huge heavy metal guy, so this seems like a good launchpad for those who aren’t familiar with the genre or are hesitant to listen. Don’t expect anything world-class here, but give it a listen will ya?

Loud. Not my thing so much anymore... getting too old for this :) 3/5

感觉脑子要被炸空了

Yes, the riffs are good and they're all great musicians , but the songs and Dave's voice are just not there yet. That would come later, this just wasn't it yet.

The gap between this and Rust In Peace is crazy

I had friends who LOVED Megadeath. While I'm not a huge fan, I think they have a certain quality that is worthwhile to listen to. They're speed metal. death metal. anything buy shiny metal. But like JP, their lyrics are at least understandable. So that goes a long way. I'm giving this a three, but near the top of the three list.

Certainly intense with Peace Sells and My Last Words standing out the most as interesting and memorable. Much of the rest blurs together in avalanche of speedy licks and fast drumming.

I’ve said before that I prefer other songwriting and structuring styles to Megadeth’s, but the most infuriating thing about Peace Sells… is that the title is by far the best written thing they’ve ever done. The rest of the album is fine, really quite good in fact, but it still sounds like a lot of riffs smashed together without much care. Peace Sells… builds, it feels like it earns it’s climax. And the fact that Mustaine et al prove that they can do it suggests that they willingly didn’t for the rest of the album. And that is infuriating

Fun thrash album with some social commentary thrown in. The title track feels like Metal's "Revolution," where in Dave Mustain notes that people who dream of change are frequently disillusioned.

It seems funny to think of anyone being offended by something that sounds so ridiculous. The very over the top artwork and lyrics make Megadeath like a parody of themselves. But the performances are great and it works as long as you don't attempt to take them seriously.

In 1986 this would have been my jam. But in 2024, eh...not so much. It's fine, but I rarely have the desire to listen to this kind of stuff today. That's one of the things I am finding "challenging" about an album a day when I don't choose what I get to listen to.

There’s a lot of hard, wife beater and denim shorts riffing here, but holy hell were all these tracks cut from the EXACT same cloth. I honestly am not the BIGGEST metal fan, but I was still able to enjoy some of these. I think I enjoyed Devils Island the most on this one.

ITS LOUD, BUT FINE

Those damn guitar solos and kick doublers man…. It would be so good thoo

Only major metal band ive listened to has been Metallica and I like them a lot. Megadeth obviously has a lot of that same feel. They wanted to be a "faster and heavier" Metallica and I think they can have a claim at faster, heaviness feels similar though. Their lyrics are a lot kore morbid and on the nose though, which isnt quite my vibe. I liked Bad Omen the most here, interested to see if there is more Megadeth on this album.

I really enjoyed the guitar and drum sections in this, and I liked the scratchy voiced vocals, but the lyrics are too irreligious for me to get into it. Favorite song: Wake Up Dead

Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Who's Buying I avoided listening to Megadeth for over 30 years, but due to this challenge I had to listen today. I don't care for Dave Mustaine as a singer or as a person. However the music on this album is really good. I can see why it's a thrash metal classic, but I don't see myself re-listening to it again. 3/5

Instrumentals on this are insanely good, but the vocals are too 80's for me.

brain off 3/5

Mega riffs cheesy lyrics and vocals, classic 80s metal. I don’t think this lives up to rust in peace, but good to have another metal album on the list for something different.

# Playlist track - Peace Sells # Notes - Spotify doesn't hold the original album, just expanded and deluxe versions. I'm not taking any of the extra tracks into consideration. - Good quality trash metal, but not too interesting.

Not really my genre of music but it does make me appreciate why people are into metal

This album had a lot of cool riffs and amazing musicianship. However, with the exception of My Last Words (a definite highlight) and Good Mourning/Black Friday, there really isn’t anything memorable on here. It just makes me wait for Rust in Peace, which is far superior

The Lamborghini album to rival Metallica's Master of Puppets. Classic thrash metal, complete with extreme fast rhythms and the -a-chug strumming. Aside from Peace Sells... I like Devil's Island.

fave track: i ain't superstitious final thoughts: not my style but i respect it

Not bad. Not really my thing. Didn’t end up listening to all of it

I don't mind these headcleaners popping up occasionally. Not sure I'll bother to go back to it though

Le metal, c'est pas mon fort, mais Megadeth passe mieux dans la craque que d'autre band de trash metal (j'te regarde Metallica)

Nice and easy listen today – the comparison to Metallica is inevitable, but dare I say these guys are much more technically skilled. Always love listening to the guitar on Megadeth albums, as they incorporate some interesting rhythms that shake up the usual heavy metal plug and chug. The whole LP does feel a bit homogeneous, but it's certainly not looking to reinvent the wheel and that's okay, so long as the ride is as enjoyable as this one.

Ok album. All obviously strong musicians. Not to enter into the debate but I feel Metallica’s classic albums are seem more varied and interesting.

fast and fast and hard

Classic Metal. Not bad, though not really my thing. 7/10.

Non malvagio, meglio dell'altro

Tästä helvetistä selvitty. Tunsin hetkeks itteni emoks. Megadethillähän on nykyään suomalainen janari riveis Tätä voisin kuunnella mielelläni HH:lla 🔥

Megadeth's sophomore album. Some pretty good stuff here

I used to enjoy this album 10 years ago, but now, the song "I Ain't Superstitions" give me diarrhea.

Growing up I always considered Megadeth to be Metallica’s dumber younger brother. Which is saying something.

For metal, this wasn't bad. 3.4

Just a bit of classic thrash metal 3/5

It was fine. There were some nice bangers on here. It didn’t really do much though, and kinda started going down towards the end. The guitar was great though.

Good!! Especially the sound.

80s metal that will always be in the shadow of Metallica

80s heavy metal.

Bot bad, but rather generic metal.

Kinda cool that the live album was recorded in Cleveland!

Musicality: 4 - some great songs and great music Production & Sound: 3 - bit raw but it suits it for the most part Artistic Expression: 4 - there's some meaning behind it and it still holds up Performance: 4 - very talented, not mad about the vocals but they play well Engagement & Enjoyment: 3 - A few catchy bits, but not overall Decent album, not really my thing but I will check out some more of their stuff because some was interesting

typical 80s hard rock shredder metal

Mikil keyrsla en ekki að grípa mig.

Now here is an album! Kicking off with Wake Up Dead which instantly drew me to the Kevin Hart monologue in Scary Movie 3. While I'm a sucker for Metal, and I haven't really gotten into Megadeth, this album didn't really wow me. I'm glad it's on here, especially because I had been wanting to listen to some Megadeth, but I couldn't help but compare to another 80's metal band that was on here in Iron Maiden and found this lacking in comparison. Again, not a bad thing, but beyond a bad ass album cover and some cool licks, I won't be remembering much else. Seriously though, did metal bands in the 80's all have the same cover designer? Some guy who was visited by the God of Metal, handing down 100 insane covers to be shared by all bands?

Not bad at all. I'm not familiar with Megadeth (I'm aware of them but don't know their music), but I understand the appeal. Solid metal album, but as someone who's not too into metal, there wasn't much here that caught my here to stand out. Still, it's a decent album. Favorite tracks: Wake Up Dead, My Last Words. Album art: Fantastic, I love the metal albums of this style or era, the commitment to a style or character, Iron Maiden was the biggest for that. Very cool picture, love the skeleton man, didn't know he was chill like that. 3/5

Accessible metal

- solid metal album - thought it was a little thin in some spots - definitely see why they were never quite as big as Metallica

I was never really into metal, I was deep into industrial but now I realise I was missing some great stuff. I don't really know much about Megadeth except that all my friends had t-shirts. This album is pretty good with Devils Island probably my fave today.

I fully expected to hate this, but it actually wasn't that bad. Not something I'd ordinarily choose to listen to, but bearable listening. Some good guitar, the vocals were a little annoying. A generous 3

Thrashy, but forgettable. It may be technically difficult, but it sounds like every hair metal album. Maybe that's why it's great, maybe that's why it's so middle of the road for me.

I thought this was going to be shit, but you know what? The not so shit bits weren't as shit as I thought they'd be. But holy Moses, how shit was the live guitar sound....

It was fine.

Before starting, I didn't think I'd make it through this album, but I did. Some tracks were not really my style, but overall this was much better than I was expecting.

Excellent riffage. If not for Mustaine's vocals, I might have actually liked this band. That blues cut in the back end is weird as hell.

ganz ok?

I really wish I could enjoy thrash metal but it always just sounds chiched.

It’s fine. Some metal is amazing, some metal I love. This is not it. If this was playing in a business I was at I would probably nod along, but I don’t see myself seeking out more Megadeth. For me, Slayer’s Reign In Blood is the top of the mountain for this type of metal/thrash.

I’m not opposed to metal music, and as far as metal goes, this is decent. I can’t help but feel as though these songs would have more of an impact if they were about half as long most of the time, but I guess that’s what punk is for. My son is a big Metallica fan so I wondered if he’d be offended by my listening to this. Fortunately we’re all good

I’ve never been into heavy metal, but it’s something I’ve been wanting to explore. This was pretty good! I liked the guitar playing. 3

more like mehgadet amirite or amirite??

good mourning / black friday stood out to me as a really good track and everything else was good there is a very distinctive voice and i would be more inclined to listen to this album again which isnt something i can say for these albums which makes me want to put it at a 4 but i really cant bring myself to do that

This album is dope and slays. Close to a 4 star for me

3/5 Best: Good Mourning / Black Friday Worst: I Ain't Superstitious

This had a few good moments, but it was mostly just noise with no discernible difference between songs.

It was ok. Was a metal album for sure. Could be hype at times if I was listening to it more actively. A solid album tho A high 3/5

It's cool, because it's Megadeth and it's metal.

Quite enjoyed this, hadn't listened to Megadeth before. Like Metallica with much better vocals.

I expected to enjoy this more but unfortunately most of the songs blend into one. There are some amazing guitar riffs but I'm not sure that the rest of the music is on the same level. The album goes by fairly quicky in 36mins but there weren't any tracks that stood out for me. I wouldn't listen to this again but I also didn't hate it.

Not sure I've ever even heard a Megadeath song before..... Not bad but didn't do much for me. Won't be going back but I enjoyed bits of it. No master of puppets , which I think is the only other thrash metal album we've had so far

I have a hard time with these thrash albums. With the exception of that tongue-in-cheek, album-titling track, the lyrical content is not good. I don’t think I love Mustain’s vocals either. As with RIP, it’s the instrumentals that carry my listen. I like the extended musical sections on the B-side better, but, like, enough with the occultism already! Ok, the Willie Dixon via Howlin’ Wolf cover is electric. The speed metal bassline in “Last Words” is so cool too and the storytelling in the lyrics is great. (Well, guess I’m buying!) Overall, It’s worse than RIP, but an important stepping stone in the chronology of thrash, maybe.

This is funny, I think Rust In Peace has spoiled me for this album, because while it’s really impressive technically it’s just a bit more boring for my ear, less hard and totally insane than that one. I mean, not every album needs to be Rust In Peace, but it definitely feels like a slightly more generic, more proto-metal album? Just a tiny bit more hairy and Van Halen -y than I was expecting. Still, good time. Can I just go for an aside here and say how funny I think metal is? It’s so funny. Like when they’re about to intro an insane riff and Dave grunts into the mic, “killing is my business… and business is GOOD!” It’s so funny! My brain lights up in all the same ways, like this is dark but also extremely hilarious. What a good combo, 3/5

Pretty good, I have a hard time with Dave’s vocals.

Surprisingly fun, and you can tell that they’re all actually very skilled

It’s fine for what it is, well done lads you nailed it.

Some quality headbanging, but not my thing.

I don’t really go in for metal but enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would

Megadeth has always been my fave of the Big 4 of thrash metal. They're fun, they're fast...what else do you need? Still, though...I'm not a big thrash guy, and Rust in Peace was better.

Not really me thing, but not bad

Love a bit of thrash, but didn't keep my interests much

Another solid metal entry to the 1001

Kinda drags by the end, but decent enough.

A bit like Iron Maiden, so not awful, but not as good! A low three.

Wel oké, maar ik voelde het precies niet helemaal met die album

No thanks

Felt very intense and thrash-heavy on first listen. Felt less overwhelming on second listen - Wake Up Dead a decent opener and I appreciated the heavy grooves in other tracks more. Still, it was a little too much, or not melodic enough for me. Vocals are inaudible half the time (maybe not a bad thing given Mustaine's voice). Peace Sells is a fantastic track, I'll give them that - deep lyrics, rocking beats, face melting guitars, wicked bass grooves, and nice vocal harmony toward the end. But I needed more of that and less of tracks like The Conjuring. Good Mourning was a cool instrumental but then Black Friday got a little excessive. Ditto Bad Omen - intricate and impressive start to the song but once the vocals hit it goes a little too thrash heavy for my tastes. Ultimately, I wasn't really sol on this album at first but it did get better with more listens. Feels like a 3.5 but not as good as Rust in Peace - except for the title track which is an absolute classic.

Solid album. I am a fan of Megadeth, but overall this album is still a 3/5

Would've been much better as a 4-track EP, only keeping the songs from Side 2. It offered a more varied and interesting presentation of thrash metal, versus Side 1 which all seemed to blend together. All in all though, I prefer what Metallica does with this genre. Standout tracks were Good Mourning/Black Friday, Bad Omen, and I Ain't Superstitious.

Having been served Rust In Peace first this feels like the unrefined first crack at it.

Great album Cracking riffs Angry in the right way

Good. I don't love thrash often but this has some good songs and great riffs.

I'm surprised how much I enjoyed this. I was processing some intense emotion at the time, though, and it's not a double, so there's that. I'm tempted to give this a 4 but I will certainly regret that, so 3 it is.

Love the title track and guitar but I’ll never love mustaine’s gargle

Didn't enjoy this Megadeth album as much as I did the other one

Rock rock hard rock

Great riffs and aggression and I loved it when I was younger but it's not enough for me now. Too many of the songs sound the same and blur into each other.

1/11- After funeral before sleep

It's good thrash metal, but it doesn't hold strongly against Reign in Blood, Master of Puppets or even so of Anthrax's best. I know Megadeth and Mustaine are basically inseparable from Metal's vernacular, but the is album is just not that great.

Not my thing, but they do play tight and high energy. Lyrics are meh.

A lot of heavy, driving guitar. Not a bad album but the songs all sound pretty similar Where I'm not noticing a huge difference throughout the album.

This is really good thrash metal, but nothing here is memorable at all. No hooks, and I can't recall a single song on this album after having just listened to it. To e clear, it's GREAT thrash metal, but totally forgettable. And I'm only talking about this particular album because Rust in Peace is a masterpiece.

누가 빨리좀 사줘라

La série putride offerte par Robert récemment me fait douter une nouvelle fois de son état de santé actuel. megadeth n'a rien à faire dans la caste des joyeux gueulards, ils sont absolument nuls.

Pretty good, but it doesn't have as many hooks and memorable moments as the other Megadeth we've had on the list

3/8, 38%

Mustaine is a better writer than he is a singer. METALLICA RULES lol

Not a big fan of Megadeth or thrash metal in general, but I did like it for the most part.

They’ve got some sick grooves, a bit drawn out and aged for me though. The conjuring is prob my favorite, the bridge is groovy

Very daft but a fun listen.

If someone put this on at a party… I wouldn’t complain.

This was interesting.

Metal!! METAL!!!!!! METTTTALLLLLL!!!!! Megadeth, man, they put some love into their work. Crazy arrangements, tempo changes, flaming solos, aggro bass lines, and just metal metal metal moarrrrr metal!!!! I liked it, but you do gotta be in the mood for it. A lot of modern death metal is growling and pounding, this is the real shit, super fast to dramatic to powerful… almost… theatric. Problem is I really do like a steady beat. When they get those machine gun guitars going then rip the rug out from under and break it down into some kinda step back and soak it up I get distracted and bored.

2.49-ish

Exactly what I expected, nothing wrong with it. Just makes me want to jump into a mosh pit and start pushing people.

Like, were these songs that musical when we first heard them?? Did the 80s heavy metal fans hear it but all we could hear was gravelly screeching, and now the passing of time has work away the hard outer layer and we can hear the beauty beneath?? Whatever the reason, this album was much more enjoyable than I expected.

Typical solid drum beat. Another so old it is easy listening

Yet another album I had never listened all the way through. It was pretty good. I always thought Megadeth was harder than this, but I guess not.

Whoa!!!!! It's MEGADEATH! Holy shit! Timeless metal nonces making a right old racket.

Enjoyed it more than I thought when I saw what it was. Solid 3*

fuck the second disc, wtf? one not live and one live? they're pushing it! but first album was not bad

Let´s say this was a good practice album for the ultimate Rust In Peace album years later.

Meh, sounds like early Metallica b sides with a worse singer and half finished lyrics. Sorry Dave!

Hi- The Conjuring, My Last Words Enjoyable.

Good 80s metal but doesn't stand the test of time

It's fine I guess. 6/10

Technically breathtaking but largely unmemorable. Next!

Bizarrely, I'd just talked to a colleague about metal and how it felt so incredibly powerful and lifechanging and visceral back when I was an edgy teenager and.... it just doesn't any longer. It feels a bit tame. Having said that, Megadeth is still as good as it gets. But I think I've always been more of a Rust in Peace fan, personally.

It’s Megadeth!

This is the beginning of the transition from the kind of Metal I love (Iron Maiden, even Metallica) to the kind of Metal that I find incredibly challenging and literally headache inducing (Slipknot, etc). It strays a little too close to the Slipknot side of the spectrum at times, but overall the album stays within the margins of what I enjoy. The B side is stronger, I think, than the A-Side. I could see myself revisiting this, but not often.

Have always hated metal and the yelling with a passion… was not excited to listed to this one when it came around. Time and tastes change though, and there are so many sickening guitar licks, it’s kind of impossible not to enjoy just a little bit. 1.5hrs is quite a long album length, though!

Their influence in the genre is undeniable. From the riffs to the solos to the singing style, it is quintessentially thrash metal. However, when compared to the superior songwriting of Metallica, their work doesn’t quite stand up just as well.

Just like the other album of theirs, an album that lacks highlights in Form of great standout songs or solos

Our first foray into the Big 4 of Thrash was Metallica's Black Album, which I found mediocre and quite inane. Yes, I know, complaining about metal lacking profundity isn't the most original of criticisms, or even much of a criticism in itself, but it was an album with little to say for itself. Which brings us to Metallica's main rival, Megadeth. Formed by Dave Mustaine after he got kicked out of Metallica, he sought revenge by playing heavier and faster. With Peace Sells, Mustaine purportedly brings a punk-inflected political consciousness to his lyrics. You realise how daft that last sentence sounds, right? Are we really to include this in the great tradition of protest music? Does the title track stand alongside A Change Is Gonna Come? Hell, I'm not even asking that the album be dismissed for hollow affectation; I'm pointing out that one perhaps should not treat the political musings of Dave Mustaine too momentously. Musically, it's one of those codifiers of a genre that, well, has been imitated so often that the original potency has been quite diluted. This is not to say it's bad; I prefer Megadeth to Metallica, and happily see this as a healthy three-starrer, but no more than that. I suppose I'd characterise the album as good, yet ultimately unpersuasive. This album doesn't reveal a band to obsess over, to stock up on the back catalogue and doodle the logo on your pencil case. It's an okay metal band. By the by, Dave Mustaine's spent the last decade on Alex Jones' show, saying Obama wasn't born in America and that several school shootings were staged. Do you still want to maintain he has insightful and considered takes on the body politic?

This was a perfectly standard heavy metal album. Everything started to blur together at a certain point but there were a couple standouts. Fav song: good mourning/black friday

Metal album. Pretty straight forward.

Great working music, non-ironically Just good metal.

Classic thrash album. Thrash is one of if not my favorite metal genre. I don't like Megadeth as much as the other 3 of the big 4 but this album still slays.

I was never super into thrash metal, I think I need more pop hooks so this isn't really my thing. That being said, I think this does what it sets out to very well so I'm giving it three stars instead of two.

Eh. It’s alright. Not enough for me to go out and buy it.

Some good tracks, there's better ones on their other albums though. But I'll always be a Metallica guy.

Not for me It feels too cold ...

First time listening to Megadeth and once again wondering how I managed to avoid them all this time. I think they just have the edge over Metallica for me, probably due to the bass being a bit more prominent. Really like the huge shifts in the songs from one moment to the next.

Yeah pretty good, classic metal

A pretty good album. I didn't love it compared to other similar albums but it flowed well

Angenehmer Old School Heavy Metal.

A classic of it's type but still tedious.

musically great, but dave mustaine's voice just isn't for me

Love a good metal album

Good fun

High energy and enjoyable. Exactly the kind of thing most people would hate

Liked this more than I expected. ‘I ain’t superstitious’ was a nice change of pace as well. Would listen again.

Good but dated

Brilliant playing of average metal songs

Didn't pay a whole lot of attention, but nothing really stood out

There were some pretty cool runs of guitar and drums here, but I was pretty out on the lyrics & vocals.

Aun no puedo apreciar el esplendor del heavy metal. La guitarra es brutal.

6. Does a great job being angry and edgy and all that, and sounds far better than I expected, but still not my favorite by a long shot

Glatter als Metallica, find ich. Geht ganz gut rein und wieder raus. Lieblingstrack „Bad Omen“. 2,7 Sterne.

Actually enjoyed it for the lulz

Megadeth... who cares? 5

fun early thrash, can hear their influence. got a bit repetitive

Pretty fun album! Perhaps not the ideal music to listen to while I'm trying to concentrate on work, pretty much a full frontal assault on the senses. Wasn't really familiar with much Megadeth outside "Peace Sells"(great song), but I think this is right in the mix with some of the great 80s metal like Iron Maiden and Metallica.

Needed to bandage my head after that one.

Not a great example of a good Metal album

Aside from the great titular song this album was awesome. A little one note.

I don't listen to enough metal, I really enjoyed this. Songs were heavy but not overwhelming, but I need to revisit the project to get a better understanding. REVISIT.

Seems quaint looking back from 2020.

Not my favorite, but a nice blast from the past.

I don't like heavy metal or thrash. I have heard most of these songs though growing up. It all kinda blends together into one lump of noise. Peace Sells is more tuneful.

Have never been a thrash metal fan - this didn't change it

Ok 2/5

Notable Textzeile: Satan has their souls, they sing pagan tunes The ceremony is sure to be cursed They wait for his blessings but down comes the worst Ich finde das überraschend easy listening.

I get the energy - aber langweilt mich nach Song 4.

Not my thing but I can still appreciate it.

Early Metallica sounds so good, while this just comes off as goofy and corny

I thought this was going to be an easy 1, but it was less screamy than I predicted and I listened to more than 10 seconds of each songs, so it gets a 2!

Megadeath and Iron Maiden were very influencial to the metal I listened to in the 80s, but it all seemed a bit much for me. I thought I just needed to listen to it more, to get used to the sound. I did, just like I'm trying to listen to more rap, so I can get used to is and so appreciate it. That works, to a certain degree, but in studying my health, I found that the issue was deeper. All autistic folks like me are born with a sensitive nervous system, so we react strongly to certain sounds or actions. This kind of metal I respond to negatively as it jars my nervous system. That's what it's supposed to do, to jar it or to numb it. This metal (and I guess Kendrick Lamar?) jars my system, and no amount of listening will calm it. In fact, too much pressure on my nervous system causes me to shutdown or meltdown, possibly many hours after the over-stimulus. I like Megadeath (I prefer Metallica), but it seems that I should be careful when I consume such music. 2/5

Maybe I’m just getting too old for this. There is literally nothing redeeming about this record.

Heavy metal boring

Pas ma came

100% in one ear and out the other. I'm sorry Dave. Like, I'm usually one to write lengthier reviews, but nothing about this grabbed me. Maybe I wasn't paying enough attention? But I cannot find myself returning to any of this. Funniest thing about it is how it starts: like an album already in progress. Goofy singing. Nice drumming though. And completely masturbatory solos.

Is it allowed to just award a single star without listening? I'm expecting not to like this. No? Oh well, here goes then. Surprisingly more melodic and musical than I expected. Great musicianship. Heavy on the guitar and very present drums. Was that a funky-ish bassline at the start of Peace sells? That was a surprise. In parts pretty enjoyable, even Bad Omen. Still, not converted to metal by any means. I do like the drummer.

It's just kinda dumb

In the battle between cool and not cool, I was team Metallica. That choice still stands. Megadeath is a cheesy attempt at speed metal that often sucked.

Beyblade commercial music

Their second album. Metal. Dumb Rock 😆 🤟

Not all that bad as far as metal goes but it's still metal

Easily the weakest of the Big 4 for me. I know it's held up as a thrash masterpiece, but the first two Megadeth albums are a bit shit to my ears. The production leaves no space for the songs to breathe, it's just speed metal all the way, which I guess is fine if it's your thing. There are some good moments along the way, Good Mourning/Black Friday is cool, and My Last Words has a great David Ellefson bass line, but overall this is just generic thrash. Megadeth would get so much better over the next few albums.

2 de 5 Critica política y social sobre la guerra y el sistema estadounidense, obscuro pero irónico, con riffs complejos y agresivos. A destacar: Track 1 - Wake Up Dead Track 3 - Peace Sells Track 4 - Devil’s Island Track 8 - My Last Words

Mustaine actually annoyed me slightly less on this record than he did on Countdown to Extinction, but I still find him pretty difficult to listen to. I also found this record a bit tighter musically on both an arrangement and production level. Overall, though, I can only acknowledge my own failings to hear what is cool, badass, or appealing about this. 2/5

Not really my thing, but at least it was better than hip hop and jazz.

This is my first album back after a week hiatus due to being away. I saw that it was what was coming next after I suspended the generator and was dreading listening to it. I've had a recent run of thrash metal, fairly recent listening to Slayer and Anthrax. Prior to this project I think Metallica is the only metal band I've ever really listened to, and I've liked some of their stuff. Of course fans of thrash would say that they're not the real thing and bands like the ones I've listened to recently are, along with this. I'm sure they're correct, and all that has done is confirm for me that this is a genre I just can't enjoy. Musically this wasn't bad. Very good guitar, bass, and drums. But Dave Mustaine's voice annoyed the crap out of me throughout. There were no songs that I could actually enjoy due to that. The other negative for me is that the lyrics were silly throughout. Songs that had interesting themes didn't feel fleshed out at all, and just went for the "gotcha" effect. I hope that I can get a break from metal for a while, but my guess is that I won't get spared till I have a few more.

Only giving a 2 for the musicians.

don't enjoy mustaine's voice

Not bad, just a bit repetetive and forgettable.

Poor Davey Mustain

Agh I really wanted to like this album if only to appease Dave Mustaime and because Metallica get on my nerves, but alas. I slightly liked the title track Peace Sells, but that’s about it. My metal days are very much over and most of the album just exasperated me.

Mostly tedious? Kinda cool guitarwork

fun and dumb

Alright. Little too hardcore for my liking.

Not for me. Thank You

Peace Sells

Heavy, thrash metal Wake up dead

Expected way more. Some cool grooves but really nothing that blew me away or even pulled me in

Nope. Glad it was short.

I don’t like this album

It's fine, but monotonous. Every song sounds basically the same. Hard to tell what is a good track because it's just monolithic.

never understood Megadeth

Eh, it’s metally.

Dave Mustaine is a dick, and these songs are pretty repetitive and unmelodic. And their skeleton dude is a cheap Iron Maiden ripoff. And all the YouTube comments are full of losers bragging about how they mastered these songs on guitar. 2.5 stars, rounded down, but it’s not like these guys are worse than Metallica or any other butt-metal band.

Found this boring. There's cooler stuff in the genre; this wasn't it for me.

Кое-где неплохо звучит, но в целом похоже на Металлику, а Металлику я не люблю

Better than I thought

It was ok

I had 2 hours lifting weights scheduled today, a bit of thrash metal was the perfect accompaniment.

Krach.

Wasn’t into it

Speed metal makes me irrationally mad. Yes dude, we hear the shredding! Standout: Peace Sells

Didn't really do it for me. They're definitely skilled musicians but I think I prefer Iron Maiden.

Has never had much appeal to me.

I'm just not gonna like heavy metal.

Chocka block full of Metallica style riffs. Lacking poise in the song writing side of things. Vocals sound warped, odd mix. No doubt they can play fast guitar though, heavy as a counter hammer to Fleet Foxes softness.

Poor man’s Metallica. That is not a compliment.

Dave Mustaine was in a band called Metallica before starting Megadeth, did you know that? He’ll tell you. The reason he’s no longer in Metallica is because that, apart from “Peace Sells”, he can’t really sing or write compelling lyrics. His band rips pretty hard, though.

Discount Metallica

Mustaine's voice has always bothered me, and yes it bothers me enough to ruin what is occasionally good riffing.

Better than Metallica, but not by much.

Some cool shredding but not really my jam

Dave Mustaine is an amazing guitar player, a terrible lyricist, an an embarrassing edgelord

Not heard this for some time, its not a great album, very 80's guitars and mediocre vocals. Riffs are quite unmemorable.

Alright. For the idketh time, it's good like i see why it is liked, the musicians are brilliants. BUT i don't like it, i was never a big fan of metal and that album wasn't an exception

okay so i don't hate metal, i just hate screamo. this was fine

Sounds like the same song done 8 very similar ways. Fast,Faster,Slower…Jeez.

Loud, fast, and pointless. 2 stars or D-.

Eh, it's whatever, honestly.

Nagyon nem én vagyok. Egyszerűen befrusztral ez az erős rock xdd

This was my first exposure to Megadeath despite having been aware of them for years. The metal music quickly reminded me of Metallica with the guttural back beat, lively guitar riffs and quick tempo’d tracks. The defining difference between the two bands for me is that I’m not sure I understood a single word the Megadeath lead singer said. This is true headbanger rock but it’s not my cup of tea for sure. It seems as though this style of music is more about screaming the same lyrical phrase over and over and over again while your musicians jam their faces off in the background. Not bad music, just a genre I don’t enjoy very much.

3 pour le premier disque, 1.5 pour le deuxième qui est LIVE

Some really well written songs, but the production sucks and Dave can’t sing.

This is not for me. Not necessarily a BAD album but definitely not for me. 2 stars.

Not a band I’ve ever listened to. Metal never really been my thing. So, feels almost like prog metal to me. The musicianship is off the charts - but it’s just leaving me cold. I can see why it has its fans for sure. I’m just not one of them. 2

I appreciate the art of this album but metal just isn’t my bag :-(

I wasn't a big 80s thrashhead. Still am not.

A great voice and some good songs.

Greit nok

Ekkert svo slæmt en ekki fyrir mig

I guess 80's thrash metal isn't for me

the bass lines on this album are really cool and interesting, i think that’s more interesting than the constant shredding of the lead guitar. overall, decent sounding album but mostly forgettable. megadeth has never really been my preference of the 80s thrash metal scene. not something i see myself listening to again, but it’s not an unlistenable album. probably closer to 2.5 stars

I enjoyed this more than I expected. That lifts it to a 3? This is not what I want to listen to with my morning coffee. I listened to the original album tracks and then skipped through the 70 minutes of other nonsense. This is not meant to be over an hour and a half. Damn you spotify for your nonsense re-releases of bonus tracks and garbage. And in the end, it didn't make that leap. Speed metal just doesn't do it for me.

Fairly standard sludgy rock with exhausting axe heroics liberally sprinkled throughout, but this album wasn’t quite as awful as I was expecting. The vocals didn’t annoy me as much as I thought they would and I almost enjoyed the overall choppiness and occasionally varied time signatures. I surprised myself by listening to the whole thing and although I hope never to hear it again, it’s not an experience I regret.

If I rated these albums based on how I felt when they ended this would be an obvious 1 because there was a tremendous sense of relief. But then again, I can appreciate some of the artistry involved in making this kind of music so that bumps it up to a 2 for me. Overall though, a fairly unpleasant experience.

Pas pour moi le Thrash metal ( Trash?) On dirait qu’avant même de commencer tu sais parfaitement comment ça va sonner!
