Reviews (page 4 of 13)
Wild when the first song is the worst song on the record. Battle of Evermore immediately transports me to the woods. Four Sticks immediately takes me to a dorm room. When the Levee Breaks brings me to a levee.
This album is pretty much all bangers. Doesn't matter that I've heard all of them hundreds of times, I still love them all. 4.75/5
Oops, all bangers 4.75/5
Must have, awesome record
8/13/25. Near perfect rock album, each track is outstanding. Of course for me, the classics of Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, and When The Levee Breaks are amazing songs.
Classic
Banger
Another amazing pick. Nothin gets better than Stairway to Heaven and the entire album could play as the soundtrack to the Lord of the Rings. The guitar playing of Page, and the singing of Plant at both their primes. What can beat that? Nothing!
Very close to the top of the list!
Love this one and know it well. This is cool as hell and rocks, decades after it was released. From Black Dog to Stairway to Heaven, I love it!
Rockin man
A perfect album. Nothing more to say.
I’m not the biggest Led Zeppelin fan but less than 5 stars would be criminal for this - killer track after killer track and not a bad one amongst them
Probably the greatest rock album ever. Black dog is the perfect opener, when the levee breaks is possibly my favourite led zep song and then you’ve got Stiarway to heaven in the middle. Just because it’s overplayed doesn’t mean it isn’t one of the best songs ever written. Battle of Evernore is a real grower with 1001 albums favourite folk singer Sandy Denny providing vocals and some nice LOTR references. The flow of the whole album is just amazing, even the ever so slightly weaker songs fit in perfectly. As close to a perfect rock album as there is
It's 5 stars, the production is solid, the songs are almost all amazing and this is peak Led Zeppelin. Don't love Four Sticks, but otherwise a masterpiece.
Almost everything could be a single
Still amazing.

So, I guess the conclusion I am beginning to draw is, seemingly, whatever Led Zeppelin album I am listening to at the time, is my favorite. These guys were so damn good, there was no weak element to this band whatsoever. The first album will always hold a special place in my heart, as that was the publics introduction to this band, but the band's evolution from album album is a true wonderment.
Appreciation for this album functions as my litmus test for whether I will get along with someone. 5.0/5.0: Iconic
theres a reason this album is in the top 5 highest rated on here. its an absolute banger
What can I say about this album. For a fan of rock and roll, records don't come much better. Black Dog - unreal riff, the drum beat slow and steady while Jimmy Page messes with the timing, making things feel just slightly off before they are very much bang on. Just because they can. Love it. Then the song Rock and Roll itself. Does what it says on the tin and then some. Twelve bar blues doesnt get much better. Then the epic The Battle of Evermore. Love the vocals on this one, the interchanging, back and forth with Sandy Denny is brilliant. Then Stairway to Heaven. Unashamed to say its possibly the greatest rock song of all time. It has everything. Slow, fast, soft, heavy, deep, meaningful, great lyrics, percect drums, ripping solos, chills. Forget banning it, it should be mandatory to play it in guitar shops. Misty Mountain Hop up next. Decent track but nothing more in my view. Same with Four Sticks. These two tracks are the main reason why the album misses out on the legendary 10 out of 10 status. Good songs but not special. Last two tracks are back to elite level stuff. Going to California is beautiful and When the Levee Breaks is epic. Even after hearing 1000 times I still listen right through every time it makes an appearance on my playlists. Overall one of the greatest albums of all time. But not quite a 10. Probably a 9.5/10. Favourite track - Stairway to Heaven easilyyyyy. Not really fair on the other tracks. 2nd favourite is Going to California.
I hear war is descending down in the valley below.
Fucking masterpiece

Favorite songs: Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Rock and Roll, When the Levee Breaks, Misty Mountain Hop, Going to California Least favorite songs: Four Sticks 5/5
Génial !
6/5
Oh to be able to hear this album with fresh ears! It must have been insane when it was released. Familiarity has dulled it over time for me and it’s. It the first zeppelin album I reach for but I can still recognize how powerful it is and how amazing the song writing is.
Led Zeppelin is awesome. I recently watched Becoming Led Zeppelin and you realize how fortuitous it was that four super talented musicians found each other to make this band. Almost any other band would kill to have as many great songs in a career as Zeppelin has on this one album. Every song but Four Sticks gets airplay on Classic Rock stations. I hate that I came of age in the era of singles radio rather than album radio, music is worse for the change. The big hit, maybe their biggest hit, Stairway to Heaven might be my least favorite song on the album. This is literally better than almost any other act's greatest hits album. Are there 20 bands that have a better greatest hits album than this? Four Sticks is the least famous song and it's amazing! When the Levee Breaks is possibly the greatest cover of all time.
I might be tempted to revise my opinion that while this may not be my favorite Led Zeppelin album, this may be in fact their masterpiece. 8 songs, no filler, impeccably sequenced and put together, and an incredible mix of the band’s sound, including anthemic hooks, straight up rock, folkier excursions, psychedelia, and some incredible blues. Not to mention the production, where everything is perfectly mixed from the thunder of John Bonham’s drums to the beautiful rasp of Robert Plant’s vocals. This one’s a true masterwork, front to back.
heat
Not a single bad song on here
Undeniable.
Hard rock that everyone in my generation cut our teeth on. Amazing drums and vocals. LZ was such a "cultural appropriator" that I hope no one ever uses this phrase in relation to the arts. Blues plus hard rock is amazing synergy and it lead me back to the blues greats that inspired it.
Solid 5.
Excellent
If I thought Led Zeppelin II was good (it is) then I was not surprised that this was just as good. With iconic songs like Black Dog and Stairway to Heaven (yes, it is not denied when listening to this album), this one is a sure fire classic. A 5 if ever there was one.
Absolutely iconic album that was a part of my personal musical discovery road in high school. Unfortunately we now know some unsavory things about the band, but I don’t think you can undersell this album’s influence on rock and roll
I mean, I already knew this one was great, but it's been a while since I actually listened to it!
One of the greats! As a lover of rock and fantasy this especially goes crazy.
1 of 4 zeppelin 5s is number 4
Could be their best album.
Excellent
Minus Robert Plants voice it’s nuts
Banger after banger after banger man
Sandy Denny’s guest spot on this album you will always be famous
HELL YEAH FINALLY SOME ZEPPELIN! I absolutely adore this album. Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven, Going to California, and When the Levee Breaks are all top songs for me.
From Folk to driving guitar anthems,Led Zeppelin has a far more diverse sound than given credit for.
This is one of my all time fav's. Can't fight Stairway to Heaven.
First impression pre listen: Exactly one week ago I was generously provided with Led Zeppelin III by the generator. Today, much sooner than I thought I'll be stepping into Led Zeppelin IV and I could not be happier. This is a classic through and through. Loud guitars and LOTR appeals strongly to my nerdy base instincts. Expecting this to be basically a shoe-in for a 5-star review, even without considering its place as one of the top reviewed albums on the site. Individual track notes: Black Dog A classic rock song. Kind of one of those songs that feel primordial, like it's hard to imagine a world where it doesn't exist. Iconic opening vocal line. Instantly recognizable guitar riff. One of the archetypical songs of 1970's hard rock. Fantastic. 5/5 Rock and Roll Another absolute classic. The driving guitar and the intense drum tempo sells the beautiful energy. Great chorus. Really like the implementation of the piano. It's a bit of a tropey song, but it's executed so true to its era that it honestly just enhances it. Fantastic. 5/5 The Battle of Evermore Beautiful instrumentation. The LOTR references are really fun. The additional female vocals adds another dimension to the folkiness of the track. The medieval fantasy atmosphere and lyrics make for a charming storytelling experience. Does sort of lose steam towards the end. Great. 4.5/5 Stairway to Heaven It's Stairway to Heaven. What else is there to say really. Fantastic. 5/5 Misty Mountain Hop I think the unusual rhythm is kinda interesting. The repetitive instrumental gets a bit tedious after a while. Again the lyrics are charming in a very 1970's way. The LOTR reference does help. Decent. 3.5/5 Four Sticks I like the dark and smokey atmosphere with the heavy guitars. Great drum beat. Fantastic switchup for the chorus. Has some clever production on the drums to make it airy and large sounding. Crunchy and sonically diverse. Really like the unusual instrumental composition. Fantastic. 5/5 Going to California Very pleasant folky sound. Love the mandolin. The Joni Mitchell associations are pretty cute. Really like the vocal delivery. Going for a more subdued approach after the intesity of the rest of the album makes for a great change of pace. Great. 4.5/5 When The Levee Breaks Classic. The harmonica over the dirty rhythmic guitar and bass opening is iconic. Awesome bass. Intense and heavy while keeping a slow driving tempo. Infectious groove, stone cold. The length just adds to the song's mythos. Fantastic. 5/5 Final review: Led Zeppelin are great at what they do. They create dark bluesy hard hitting rock music to... well, rock out to. And while this isn't all they do it's certainly what they're most known for. And you know what? It's excellent. Perfect for when you want let go of pretention and modern cynicism for a moment and go on a throwback adventure. Led Zeppelin IV has all the fantasy and mystique you could want, covered in grit and drive. It's THE archetypical hard rock album, and has everything you'd expect from that descriptor. Kick-ass guitars? Check. Infectious drum patterns? Check. Intense and dramatic vocals? Check. Groovy basslines? Check. And so much more. And if you get worn out by the good old fashioned hard rock, they've thrown in a few pleasant folky tunes with more subdued performances, though featuring the same adventurous spirit. It's for nerds and jocks alike, and oozes with a unique early 1970's energy that was left behind never to be fully recreated. It's youthful, it's spirited and it's fun. Full of iconic tracks that have stood the test of time. 5/5
A true masterpiece. Some echoes of the third album are present with the acoustic tunes, yet it still has the heaviness we all expect from Zep. So many amazing songs that showcase the band’s diversity. This album is responsible for my love of the genre, and I vividly remember the first time that I heard it as a teen.
Yes; real music to which to listen
Classic
GOAT Album
One of the greatest rock albums ever recorded
For a band with a whole catalog of amazing albums, this is one of their best
Just banger after banger.
This is the very definition of “classic” — not just because it’s old and revered, but because it still kicks like thunder. Every track is iconic in its own way, from the blues swagger of ‘Black Dog’ to the god-tier apocalypse of ‘When the Levee Breaks’. Even ‘Stairway’ — overplayed as it is — still towers. This isn’t just a band at their peak, it’s rock itself crystallising into legend.
Nice Flow, and nice music ideas within each song. The layering of instruments is good.
One of the best rock bands ever. And this album is one of their best.
Masterpiece. Every song is awesome.
It's IV. Come on. Pretty sure we've reached the point where hating on Zep is okay. That's fine. This album still slays in a way very few do.
One of my all time favorites!
Potentially the album of all time. Every second of this album is a masterpiece, how the hell did they write any of this? And then also have like 4-5 other albums that are of the same quality or maybe even better. They’re all firing on all cylinders, obviously I am very biased to Bonham and Page but John Paul jones is incredible and Robert plant ties it all together I guess. Easy to downplay him compared to the others but I sure as hell can’t do what he does. Bonham’s ability to ride the pocket the way he does on this album while beating the shit out of the drums every bit is mind boggling. Page continues to be the most interesting songwriter of the big three (Jeff Beck is likely the best player still) but Page definitely has him beat in the riff category. How does someone come up with rock and roll in 1971? God I wish he wasn’t a weird magical probable pdf and I could just like every part of him. Sad that JPJ is the only one post zeppelin to do anything I care about but that makes him my favorite alive member. I’m rambling (on), this is the easiest 5 ever. Top 10 drum sound album ever.
Yeah easy 5. One of the best albums of all time. When the levee breaks is the best zeppelin songs. Fight me. I always feel like I’ll get tired of these songs, but I never do. Even when Stairway starts, I get so invested halfway through. Same experience as to when Free Bird starts. I will say Plant can get a little tiring at some points, but that’s about it. Rock on!
Gonna be around forever - more than half are legendary singles. 100% you should listen to this record. 5/5
43 minutos y la primera mitad es gloriosa
No brainer
Immaculate. Probably peak Zeppelin, so if there is one of their albums to listen to before you die, this is it (although I know they have other albums on this list). Every song on the album is top tier, but obviously "Stairway to Heaven" is essential.
Classic Rock album.
From start to end, this is absolutely one of my top 10 records. Each track, is a 4.5 to 5 star song - not something you get very often, or at all. Brilliant!
“Stairway to Heaven” and “Fantasy” by Earth, Wind, and Fire have extremely similar melodies. I think about that every time I hear either song and I’m not sure what to do with this information. Anyway, this album fucking rocks.
Led Zeppelin has got it all, the imagery, the lore, the symbolism, and a naturalness to their sound that makes it feel like the song was meant to be assembled in the way that it was. This band could have radicalized me.
I agree with all the other 5 star reviews and I'll repeat for the jillionth time that Bonham's drumming is on another planet. Between insisting on a slow impossibly in time beat in Black Dog, playing with 4 sticks on, well, Four Sticks, and creating one of the most repeated grooves on the planet in When The Levee Breaks, he does all this other basic "incredibly good rock drummer" stuff. For me it's hard to get past how complicated everything on this album is yet how simple it is to listen to. All timer.
The rock band that influenced every rock band worth listening to thereafter. It's very good.
As far as folky classic rock, it doesn't get better than this.
Ever single song on this album is a classic and I can definitely get behind that this is one of the top albums on this list.
Masterpiece. Start to finish, not a bad song in the lot. Frankly, not even one song I would call less than great. Stairway is probably the least enjoyable to me at this point...but only because it has been played out more than perhaps any other song in history. There's a reason for that...it's also a masterpiece even if I'm tired of listening to it. 6 stars if I could give it.
An amazing album. Almost every song is great and most are true classics.
Fui mordido por esta serpiente y su veneno vive en mi y me posee
THE album that started it all for me. I fell off on it for a while, but recently-ish I rediscovered just how great this band, and by proxy this album, are. Pure hard rock perfection. The big hits are all great of course, but even the lesser-known songs like The Battle of Evermore and Going to California are amazing.
It’s gonna be hard to find many albums on this list better than this one. Nearly every song is phenomenal for different reasons. Black Dog and When the Levee Breaks are iconic. Misty Mountain Hop into Four Sticks is fantastic. Rock and Roll is also fantastic. And of course, Stairway to Heaven is one of the greatest songs of all time. I didn’t even have to listen to know it’s a 5, but I listened twice today cuz they’re that good.
Loop zoop! I love the blend of heavy and acoustic songs on this album. The storytelling on songs like Misty Mountain Hop, Battle of Evermore, and Stairway to Heaven is fantastic. Closing on When the Levee Breaks after leading in with Going to California is a great idea. I love the songwriting, the production, and the craft that went into picking the track listing as well. This was the first "heavy" album I ever listened to and will always have a place in my heart.
Easiest 5 on this list so far.
I mean it’s a banger of an album but I’m so sick of these pedophiles
These sick fucks sure know how to rock and roll
Air guitar. Air drums. Air bass. Airhead. Air mandolin. Air mama. Air groove. Air mountain. Air levee.
THIS SLAPS SO BAD
Stairway focusing on drums is amazing
Led Zepplin Top
Classic as classic gets
Rimelig nem 5/5 bedste hard rock album evaaaar
Erm -- yeah, it's a five. C'mon now. I can remember putting on "Black Dog" on my grandparents' jukebox in their basement as a little kid and dancing my little heart out without knowing a damn thing about the wonderful filth Mr. Plant was wailing about. It's just great music. Rock at its best: complex, hard hitting, memorable, with a shockingly beautiful ballad. Thank you LZ. Fave Songs: - Black Dog - Rock and Roll - Stairway to Heaven - Misty Mountain Hop - Going to California - When the Levee Breaks (side note: is this the hottest fucking song of all time..?)
The album is incredible. At some point, nearly every song on this album has been my favorite Zeppelin song. This album goes hard.
These pedos can rock
Perfect. Nothing else more to say.
Can't go wrong with this album!
The best at their best. Everyone should know this album note for note
One of the best!
There is the miracle of Earth and the human race! Then there is the miracle that these found dudes finding each other and created Led Zeppelin! JPJ and Bohnam, create so much space for Robert and Jimmy to just go wherever! Like the GOAT!!! And not even my favorite album!
It was a privilege and an honor to Karen to the album.
Classic. Almost every song is a classic.
Classic Zeppelin! A thoroughly enjoyable experience and travel back in time to my youth. Each track is solid and instantly recognizable. Five stars.
One of the greatest rock albums ever. I haven't listened in a while and it is just as good as I remember. A perfect blend of rock and roll, blues, folk and a glimpse of harder rock styles that were starting to emerge.
Perfect album.
classic epic
Never gets old. Fav: Black Dog
This is one of the best rock albums of all time. It is legitimately classic song after classic song. There is a reason why every rock station plays every track off this album. It's just that good.
A classic
all time classic for a reason
Classic. Soaring. Legend.
Ok, so this album is fantastic, five stars. What if we resequenced it though? How about leading off with "Rock and Roll" for a banger and because I'm not a big "Black Dog" fan. (NOTE: I am a big 'Black Dog' movie fan--RIP Swayze). Then there's a little break from the hard rocking with "Four Sticks," followed by "When the Levee Breaks," and then "Black Dog." Next comes 'Lord of the Rings' romp "The Battle of Evermore" giving some odd vibes, then "Misty Mountain Hop" and "Going to California." My ZOSO ends with "Stairway" as a last song ballad.
Is it possible for an album by a band I like to not contain my two favorite songs that they did, and for that album to still be a 5? The answer may shock you! What a treat of an album, a band at the absolute height of their powers. Start to finish, just banger after banger. Stairway is an overrated song, but only because it's so widely considered one of the greatest songs of all time, but, come on, it's still Stairway! When the Levee Breaks is a tremendous track, an alzheimer. 5.
Black Dog...sloppy but fun Rock and Roll...Yes. More! Battle of Evermore...ELVES AND FAIRIES Stairway...What else is there to say? Mist Mountain Hop...Groovy. I like it more than I used to Four Sticks...Not my thing Going to California...good if you don't mind that Plant goes a little wild When the Levee Breaks...Great stuff
This is a classic for a reason
Foundational rock...gets better year by year
Insanely good! Had never listened to the whole album like this. Maybe the greatest of all time…?
Another album from that Camaro. Endless evenings cruising up and down the strip. Led Zep in all their glory. Really with all the hype. So many good memories have been made with this album. Did I mention stairway was always the slow dance in junior high? Amazingly awkward.
I had just listened to this a day or two before, but I wasn’t about to turn down another chance. When a song like “Misty Mountain Hop” is the low point of an album, you know it’s gotta be great.
It was a mystery, a curiosity; a deliberate diversion to diffuse the disappointment after the deafening hype. Four sticks isn't enough to make a home but it could rouse a startling fire, as was the case of Led Zeppelin and that fire could have been seen from as far as the nearest planet. It was a whirlwind, starting from the first album, that many believe peaked here. Led Zeppelin IV has become the foundational bedrock of and for many things rock and roll and subsequent other genres afterward which was impacted by its stomp, hop and groove. If the band had stopped here, their legacy would be untouched but there were more worlds for them to conquer and plenty more sounds to unearth.
I kept telling Jimmy, I said, "Jimmy, 'Stairway' has to close out the album," and he was all like, "na, man. 'When the Levee Breaks'." And then I was like "Jimmy! 'Rock n Roll should be track number one! Obviously!" And he was all, 'Na, man. Black Dog, Black Dog." Whatever. Just makes me wonder. And if the forests are echoing with laughter you probably picked the wrong kind of mushrooms. 5
I wish someone would ask me to stay for tea and have some fun.. absolutely love this album!
Great album, not a bad song on it
Álbum recheados de clássicos. Moldou a percepção do que esperar de um álbum de hard rock. Letshuoer D-13.
Easy call. Fast and slow; layered and stripped-down; great melodies and opportunities for all four artists to shine. Plus, what I believe to be Led Zep's two greatest songs, "Stairway" and "Levee."
One of the greatest albums of all time.
Super Dope
great album. classic for great reason
Probably the album I listened to the most on this list. Damn right it’s a must listen!
I haven't listened to Led Zeppelin in far too long. I had nearly forgotten how much I love this album. Essential listening for sure. 5/5 #91
Anyone who worked in a guitar center hates this band and specifically this album.
Transcendental.
9/10 Highlights: Black Dog Stairway to Heaven Going to California When the Levee Breaks
Classic album with lots of classic songs. It's got a little bit of everything Led Zeppelin does well: blistering rock 'n' roll (including "Rock and Roll"), psychedelic folk rock, and heavy metal. For whatever reason though, it's the one Led Zeppelin album from their classic period that I feel the least personal connection to. Maybe that's because a bunch of these songs -- "Black Dog," "Rock and Roll," and "Stairway to Heaven" -- have been played so much on classic rock radio and in commercials. It's hard for me to hear them with fresh ears. It's still a great album, but for whatever reason, I gravitate emotionally more toward some of their other albums. "When the Levee Breaks" is incredible though! I think that's my favorite song here. It's got such a sexy riff and groove. I was really jamming to that one today!
Arguably the best album by arguably the best rock band ever. It deserves all the acclaim, the love, and the adoration of the masses. It's got their classic groovy hard rocking songs like Black Dog, it's got their timeless ethereal epic Stairway to Heaven, it's got their Lord of the Rings folk adventure in The Battle of Evermore, it's got their stunningly beautiful moments like all of "Going to California", and it ends on an amazing cover of "When the Levee Breaks". Every track is amazing. Jimmy Page's guitar playing is masterful. It's jam packed with slanky lazy-yet-crisp overdriven moments, and it's so dynamic and yet still cohesive with his overall music vocabulary. John Bonham's drumming is at full force here. "Rock and Roll" is one of the great classic rock drum beats, and I love that he knows exactly when to overdo a beat, and when to take a step back and let the others shine. John Paul Jones is a perfect style of superglue to all of the band around him. His bass on "Rock and Roll" really drives the song in an incredible high energy war of attrition between him and John Bonham. How one of them doesn't get tired a minute into the song is amazing to me. And of course, Robert Plant's voice is maybe as close to perfect as you can get on a recording. It is soft and intimate, it is loud and aggressive, it's emotional, it's so wonderfully tied into the band. Great unique lyrics too. The time period in my life where I listened to "Stairway to Heaven" the most was probably when I was in my teens. I dove pretty deep into the conspiracy rabbit holes around this song and all the alleged Aleister Crowley occult connections. That stuff has always interested me but 13 year old me was really fascinated (and probably a little frightened) by it, so I remember listening to all of the chopped up versions of the song, and the reversed clips and all of that. Since then I've of course heard this song throughout my life, but it feels almost a little less epic now? I am 36 now, and maybe time just moves a bit faster, as an 8 minute song can be listened to while you drink a cup of coffee. When I was younger, this song was somehow 15 to 30 minutes... it was an experience. It's not to take away from the song, more so just something that I recognize in my own life and music-listening-experience. Anecdote aside, this song is one of the best ever. It encompasses everything that is great with Led Zeppelin, and this song alone would make this album a 5/5. This album captures the ethos of this project as well as any. It is a record that transcends music taste, that transcends generations; it is truly timeless, and one of the best works of art ever created. It's a clear 5/5, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the highest rated album on this 1001 list.
Killer songs throughout except maybe four sticks, that one was weird.
My favourite Led Zep album. So many riffs. So many classics. Starts hard and finishes strong. Well sequenced track list. This album is a journey through genre and feeling. It's really fantastic. Black Dog! Rock and Roll!! They rock hard. All hepped up on rock and need a rest after the first two tracks? Battle of Evermore will give you a break. Feeling calm now? Fricking Stairway will trick you and bring you from placid vibe back up to rock Nirvana again, ready for a cruisy Misty Mountain Hop. If there's any filler it's maybe Four Sticks, but not really, it just moves your along and before you know it you're going to California. String and satisfying Bluesy finish with When the Levee Breaks, and I could almost go round again. It's just a well rounded, thoughtfully structured powerhouse made by a band at their peak. Morrissey couldn't dream of making anything this good. Five stars.
Classic
Awesome.
Perfect
Loved this at 17, rolled my eyes at it in my 20s and 30s, and now I love it again.
I still remember how it blew my mind the first time I really listened to Stairway.
Easy 5. For me, this is the best Led Zeppelin album. At first I thought I could just give it 5 stars without listening, because it has been listened a lot. But then I thought, that wouldn't be fair. So I listened it on the vinyl. Just because I can. 😎😁
No way they haven't sold their souls to the devil!
9/10
Big fat guitar riffs. Makes me want to join a band.
What can I say that hasn’t already been said? Nearly every song on this album is a classic and they come together to make the album a masterpiece. If you like rock, especially progressive/hard rock with fantasy-themed lyrics, this is your holy grail, your One Ring. 5+⭐️
Hadn't listened to this one in a while, as I overplayed a lot of the songs when I was a teenager. Forgot how great this album is! Not a bad song on it and many of Zeppelin's best. John Bonham's ferocious drumming is the highlight, especially on When the Levie Breaks.
Going to California is such a beautiful song man. This album was 42 minutes of pure euphoria, it almost felt too short. I wish I had more time so I guess I’ll just have to spin that mfer back again!
a classic and a must listen
How could one argue with this record? Start to finish badassery. 5 stars easy.
Every track outstanding
Really enjoyed this one as I was working outside, and will listen to it again. Intricate orchestrations, throbbing blues bass lines, screaming guitars, soaring vocals, what's not to like.
Fun listen! Great instrumentals and good vocal work. 'Stairway to Heaven' is my fave and and all time classic.
Album phare. Pas de faiblesse, même Black Dog... Pour satisfaire Guillaume ils auraient pu intervertir la première et la dernière chanson: débuter par Rock and Roll et terminer par Black Dog.
J - 5/5 Best Track - "Stairway To Heaven" F - 2/5
Un plaisir de redécouvrir cet album. Tellement un beau mix de blues, hardcore rock, psychédélique. Et je réalise à quel point Jimmy Page est un génie du riff (et de la guitare 12 cordes)
Led Zeppelin's masterpiece, so many good songs.
Classic. One of my favorite albums.

Smack in the middle of a legendary six album run
Fucking hell… That’s life changing stuff
OVERALL: This is going to be my third 5 in a row. So many riffs, most of which are simple but are all incredible. Everything is either a great rock banger or a great acoustic song (The Battle of Evermore is also just kinda there). Insanely good guitars, great atmosphere. Stairway to Heaven and When The Levee Breaks are both incredible classics, and for good reason. It's really hard to argue for this being anything lower than a 5, and I also don't want to write a lot so just read the song reviews below. SONG AVG: 9.025 PERSONAL RATING: 9/10 Black Dog: This would have been a perfect song if the vocals weren't like that. The vocals are good, but I don't think they fit all that well. Other than that, phenomenal intro, incredible riff, incredible song. 9.95/10 Rock And Roll: Banger. A bit more like the blues rather than rock and roll, but still great regardless. Fun, although not the most musically interesting. 9.75/10 The Battle of Evermore: Great vocals, but I don't think that a mandolin should've been used. Pretty big tone shift from Rock And Roll. I feel like the lyrics are a bit corny, but I can't really hear them well when I'm just listening casually. It sounds good, but I feel like it could've been much better if they used a guitar instead of a mandolin. 7.75/10 Stairway to Heaven: Come on. It's their biggest song for a reason. Probably the most iconic guitar riff of all time. Anything I could say about it has already been said. 10/10 Misty Mountain Hop: Such a simple riff, but it goes so hard. Nice drumming as well. Very catchy, but I feel like it goes on for a bit too long. 9.25/10 Four Sticks: This feels like what someone who only knows the idea of Radiohead thinks a Radiohead song sounds like. Pretty good, but it feels like it kinda drags on. Reminds me of a Can song, but significantly less interesting with slightly worse vocals. 7.5/10 Going to California: Boring. When I'm listening to Led Zeppelin, I'm not expecting something like this. With that being said, this is a great acoustic song. It's just surprisingly forgettable. 8/10 When the Levee Breaks: Shortest 7 minutes of my life. Less recognized than Stairway, but equally as acclaimed. Great dark and hypnotic atmosphere, such a great outro that is great at defining the album. 10/10
First Led Zep to turn up on the list. Always good to get an album already owned. Brilliant openers and for me the last great Led Zep album.
Perfect
Everything about this album is amazing, Great mix of hard rock and then a folksy element with the mandolin driven songs. The vocals are amazing, love the sound of the drums and then some of the most iconic guitar riffs. A band at the peak of their powers.
One of the most iconic rock albums of all time, might not even be in my top 3 Zeppelin albums which shows how consistently great their catalogue is, nearly everything on here is a classic
Black Dog - 5/5 Rock And Roll - 5/5 The Battle of Evermore - 4/5 Stairway to Heaven - 5/5 Misty Mountain Hop - 4/5 Four Sticks - 4/5 Going to california - 4,5/5 When the levee breaks - 5/5
Who’s this ?Untitled? Probably sucks. Four Sticks is clearly the breakout single.
Perfection
14/05/2025 I'm surprised I've never listened to this before but I actually enjoyed it.
A classic. The LOTR of Albums.
Heard it countless times, each time is an absolute treat. One of the greatest hard rock albums ever.
Ok this is one Ive owned for many, many, many years and play regularlyIt's heavy, mystical, bluesy, and timeless. Like most people I bought the album on the strength of Stairway To Heaven, but black dog, when the levee breaks and misty mountain hop kept me playing it over and over. This is not denigrate the other tracks, I defy anyone to say one of them isn't a banger. Couldn't recommend this enough. A must own.
Of course
My ninth album since starting this. The first one to get five stars. As I rock out to this gem for the umpteenth time. There is not much to say or break down, I'm just going to listen and let my ears be happy.
Masterpeice.
This has always been my favorite Zeppelin album, and it totally holds up. I think it's my ideal blend of folk and rock elements while maintaining an identity that doesn't feel derivative.
I can see why this is considered THE classic rock album. Deserved of the praise, this thing fucks
What hasn't been said? They're beat studio album.
This is Led Zeppelin at their finest. This album is banger after banger without letting up. Despite never listening to this album before, I know every track because they're all classics and standard for any halfway decent classic rock radio station. "Stairway to Heaven" is, well, is THE classic rock song, but even without this song, the album is amazing. I don't know what I can add that others haven't, but I'll say some things anyway. The drumming and guitar are just so, so perfect in every song. Robert Plant's vocals can be abrasive and mesmerizing at the same time. Every song is placed well and adds to the rise and fall of the album, leading to such a satisfying listen. The lyrics are well done--just enough to grab interest without being overbearing, like in "Going to California," or contain catchy hooks, like in "Misty Mountain Hop." I wouldn't change a damn thing about this album.
This album fucks so hard it's not even fair. It's so dank, hobbits want to smoke it. It's so good, their Greatest Hits is just this album played twice.
10/10, Obviously awesome album.
This is the album that won me over after years and years of resistance. I was a firm believer that if you liked The Doors, you didn’t like Led Zeppelin. It went the same the other way. It’s what I saw around me in my musical journey with friends. There was no in between from what I saw. I have since learned that there is enough room in the musical landscape for both bands and many more. This is a pretty much flawless album by them. I mean, the first 4 of 5 songs are top hits. That’s not a greatest hits album people. That was just a band putting out their next effort. The only flaw is The Battle of Evermore. Waaaaayyyy too hippy sounding. It’s probably the Joni Mitchell voice in the song. I don’t stand for that peace and love voice nor the shit. War and hate is my realm. Ok anyways. Good album. It’s timeless as in it will be on a top list from here to eternity. Write that down. Choice cut: Going to California
Godly
Awesome
Probably their best Better than the rest Don't say it in jest
Editing this from a 4 to a 5, because this album is, obviously, a 5. I'm not massive on Led Zeppelin, mainly because I don't really like Robert Plant's voice, but this album undeniably has a higher density of quality than 99.9% of other albums.
Hard to argue this should be anything but a 5. I won't waste my time justifying. Go live your life
I read this article once (I want to say it was penned by Chuck Klosterman, but AI was no help in confirming) in which a bunch of straight dudes were asked, "if you had to sleep with another dude, who would it be?" The overwhelming response was Robert Plant. I'm telling you this because I feel compelled to write something interesting about Led Zep that hasn't already been said a gazillion times. They're the greatest rock n roll band of all time. Anyone who doesn't give this album 5 stars is an edgelord, a pearl clutcher, or one of those dudes I just mentioned who isn't ready to to confront their feelings about Robert Plant.
Timeless
Gutes Album mit dem Titel für die Ewigkeit, „Stairway to Haven“. Dieser gibt auch dem Album seinen vollen Glanz.
Oh, the greatest album of all time also made this list? Shocker...
Yeah this is a classic I love the mysticism of this album 5/5
Ottimo album, un rock aggressivo. Poi l'intro di black dog mi gasa un botto.
Magic, mysterious, innovative, original, to-the-point, clever and perfect. 8 superb tracks and no tittle needed
Not bad
From the hills of the misty mountains to the Mississippi delta, this album rips. I was traveling and didn’t have time for a lengthy review but I wanted to pop back in and make it clear that this may be the best rock album of all time and maybe is my favorite ever. The big 4 get all the love but evermore, misty mountain, four sticks and especially going to California are fucking awesome. Ok back out.
1. Banger 2. Keep your foot on the motherfucking pedal baby. That long screech followed by that nifty lick *chef's kiss* Also, the bombast of the drums in this album so far is peak 3. slow it down, haunting duet vocals, mandolins aplenty, and we're talking LOTR; I feel like I've been transported to Middle Earth, stop I can only get so erect 4. Are you kidding me?? What?? This? This ... masterpiece? The slow build from the ethereal to the hot and heavy? Mama Mia, we got a spicy meatball here. 5. how about a little jaunt to take the edge off. And god damn, those drums 6. Driven by the rollicking main lick, I think its underrated 7. A little reprieve before the big finale; still has some edge though 8. that harmonica haunts my dreams and nightmares. Truly one of the greatest rock n roll albums of all time 0/5
Obviously biased opinion but this is my absolute fav album by them and will continue to be on of the best for rock of all time
This is an easy 5 stars for me! Favourite tracks: Battle of Evermore, Going to California, When the Levee Breaks
Absolute classic. My favorite Led Zeppelin by a lot, Stairway will never be overplayed and When The Levee Breaks is my fav song in their catalogue, and one of my favorite of all time.
C'mon

Side A nearly perfect, didn’t care too much for battle of evermore for some reason. Side B was cool with one too many blues but still great. A monument of rock.
Don’t need to say much about this. All killer, no filler, one of the many 5-star Zep records. I skip Stairway most of the time, but that’s just a personal preference (denied!). Damn, trying to find something nit-picky to say about this record, but I’m coming up with nothing.
This might be a hot take but Led Zeppelin,,,,, is pretty good. I loved every bit of even the most self-indulgent noodling bits. Also this is my first time listening to IV all the way through despite being raised on Zep, and my god is putting Stairway right after The Battle of Evermore a CHOICE
What else to say that hasn't been said. I can't officially name a "favorite album of all time" because it's constantly changing - but this album is always in that discussion.
Listened to the original vinyl, CD and remastered CD of this hard rocking classic. Definitely benefits from the big bass and fuzzy sound of the big home stereo. Black Dog, Stairway to Heaven and Going to California never get old, even though I've heard them a million times. Just a great album.
May be the finest side A in rock history
The best Led Zeppelin album and the third best Sandy Denny album.
My dad never listened to led zeppelin. Hated Robert plants voice. The bloody weirdo (my dad, not Robert Plant). Meant I had to discover them on my own later, meant I missed out on a lot of references and jokes over the years and later on spent a lot of time going "oh... Stairway, I see". They're quite good aren't they. Even if I'm heavily expecting all the allegations to be confirmed (those that haven't already) the second they all die and even if they ripped off 75% of all their riffs. This one is especially good.
GREAT! Always on deck
After getting Led Zeppelin's debut as album #28 on my journey, I got to skip to their fourth album today. This is a real treat because I consider IV the peak of their blues-influenced hard rock songcraft. Every song on this album is as enjoyable as when I first heard them. From the opening bouncing riffs and Robert Plant's wails on "Black Dog", to the updated blues standard of "Rock and Roll", to the fantasy narrative duet between Plant and Sandy Denny on "The Battle of Evermore", to the eight-minute epic that is "Stairway to Heaven", to the electric piano riff of "Misty Mountain Hop", to John Bonham's complex drumming pattern on "Four Sticks", to the serene acoustic ballad "Going to California" as a neat tribute to Joni Mitchell, culminating in the otherworldly stomp that is their cover of Memphis Minnie and Kansas Joe McCoy's "When the Levee Breaks". Not a single moment felt wasted here, as everyone in the group gave an outstanding performance, elevated by top-notch production from Jimmy Page. There's not much else I need to say here. Led Zeppelin IV set a high standard for later hard rock acts to follow.
A Detroit station used to play Stairway to Heaven every night at midnight and thy is pretty much the perfect time to listen to it.
I’m not the biggest Led Zeppelin fan but I enjoyed this way more than I was expecting. Smooth listen to have in the background. Banger after banger. Could not end on a better note, I love When the Levee Breaks.
The best LZ album probably
If you had asked me before embarking on this project how I’d rate this album and Led Zeppelin in general, I’d probably have said a strong 3 ⭐️ to middling 4 ⭐️ and have said something about how it’s got some good songs and the musicianship is good, but it’s overplayed, overhyped, and maybe something about them being plagiarists. This project has shown me the true depth, breadth and scope of all the truly bad and, what’s more, simply forgettable music that exists in the world and has allowed me to listen to Led Zeppelin with somewhat fresh ears. When I do, it’s evident that the songs on this record are so incredibly popular because they are just that good. The allegations of plagiarism that are often lodged against LZ I think are contradicted by their massive success in their time and their staying power 50+ years later. They were heavily inspired by blues music, yes, as many artists at the time were. On some songs this is a more direct and obvious inspiration, like “When the Levee Breaks”, but they still manage to form it into a sound that is very much their own and unlike anything else that was going on at the time. It is bluesy and heavy and medieval and harmonic and anthemic and loud and just… unmistakably Led Zeppelin. Could they have done more to recognize the blues artists they were inspired by and share some of the obscene wealth and stardom they accumulated? Yeah, they could have and probably should’ve. But I do not think they were plagiarists, and them being bad people in other respects is pretty thoroughly documented anyway. So. In other news I appreciate that they have done more PR for the mandolin in popular music than almost any other group/musician in recent times. It’s really hard to single out favorite tracks from an album with only eight tracks when 6 of them are as absolutely massive of songs as “Black Dog” or “Stairway to Heaven”… but if I had to choose, I really just love “Stairway to Heaven”. The multi-part composition gets me every time. Their reinvention of “When the Levee Breaks” is a close second for me, and “Black Dog” and “Rock and Roll” are of an equal tier not far below. Deductions to “Battle of Evermore” and “Misty Mountain Hop” for being about nerdy LOTR shit (just kidding, but not really. Sort of.) Of all the categorically classic “classic rock” bands, Led Zeppelin has always been among my favorites, and I’m glad this project has renewed my appreciation for their music to some extent. ‘IV’ gets a resounding hell yeah 🤘 from me.
One of the all time greats. 5 stars just for Stairway to Heaven. This was one of those albums that introduced me to a new (to me) genre of music at a young age. Should be required listening for everyone.
A classic. Particularly enjoyed the battle for evermore this go around. When the Levee Breaks has gotta be my favorite. I love the grungy groove of that song..
Great album
I didn't even realize how ingrained in my brain this album is. I sank into it like it was the old couch I grew up on. The flow and feel of this is something that is rare nowadays I feel like, and I miss it a lot. 5/5, no doubt.
This album is threaded so deeply throughout my entire life that it's challenging to try to listen to it with fresh ears. I find myself examining it through the lens of sound engineering and songwriting. Bonzo's brass sounds amazing and I hate the rest of his kit. The snare is thin and the toms are tuned cardboard. The instrumentation throughout is impressively varied, well recorded and mixed. The songs are dynamic, interesting in form, and well crafted. Hooks abound and I really like the use of dissonance that I never zeroed in on before this listen. I also really like the layering of the instruments. Sooo much going on in every song but they don't seem to trip over one another or get in each other's way. Kudos to the band for their choices and to the engineers for keeping things clean. Most songs feel longer than they are, which I think is because there is so much going on. Not a typical fourth album by any means. Most bands run out of ideas by their second album. Zep definitely flexes in a lot of dimensions on this album.
Brilliant album containing arguably the greatest song of all time
A timeless classic, even if it’s not their best and sort of at the back-end of their greatness. There’s so much depth to this album with an incredibly stunning finale.

Wow, absolutely timeless, magical, legendary.
Iconic album that is near perfect end to end. When the Levee Breaks is possibly my favorite LZ song ever, and for someone looking to get in to Zeppelin this is an easy one to step into.
One of the iconic best
All time classic. All time fave.
Yep 🫡 - love it.
I worshipped this record when I was a teenager. There was a period where I thought “Stairway to Heaven” was the most beautiful song ever, and I’d listen on headphones to ease myself to sleep. So, does it hold up to my personal and general cultural lore? Goddamn right it does! Every track is a standout. Zep is undefeated, this remains a 5.
5 5 5 5 5
Great album, highly recommend.
So many classics, definitely worthy of this list. A number of tracks I had never heard before that could def pass off as good rock music in 2025.
11/10
Os reis definitivos do Rock!
Mind blowing. My fourth favorite Zeppelin album. Mind blowing. “No one ever compared us to Black Sabbath after this record.” JP
Amazing and flawless.
Absolute classic of a banger album.
Of course, it’s seminal. I never noticed how expertly produced it is. Still, When the Levee Breaks …
Solid start to finish
Zeppelin, man!
Zeppelin IV is packed with classics and it's probably my favorite of their albums. Of course there's Stairway to Heaven which is a masterpiece but we can't forget Black Dog, Rock and Roll, and When the Levee Breaks. The balance between the melodic rock and smooth guitar solos is delightful.
I like led zeppelin but don’t you guys think John bonham looks dirty
FUCK YEAHHHHH LED ZEPPELIN GET THE FUCNING LEDDDDD OUTTT WOOOOO BONZOOIII HOW GOODS BLAC DOG MANNNNN
YEAAAHHH BABYYY, JOHN BONHAM GOING HAAAAARD BABYYY YEEAAHHHH, BLACK DOG MAKES ME STIFF BABYYYY YEEEAAHHH, MISTY MOUNTAIN HOP ON THE BIKE GOT ME MISTY MOUNTAIN HOPPING UP AND DOWN OOOOOO YEEEAAAHHH AUSTIN 3:16 BABYYYYY YEAAAHHH
Simply one of the greatest albums ever made.
Thats good music!!
This is another album from my childhood that I’ve heard more times than I can count. It’s a classic for so many reasons—whether it’s the sheer number of legendary rock anthems, the musicianship, or the variety of styles packed into one album. You get hard rock and early metal, blues and folk rock, and even a touch of prog, especially on “Stairway to Heaven.”
jó én nem szeretem őket, de ez az album magic az elejétol a végéig.
Great album. After a few listens I added some songs more songs to my liked ones.
Listen to the vinyl all the time, never need to skip songs.
Fan-freaking-tastic! 5/5
Third Led Zeppelin album to come up for me here and it’s the best so far. Some all-timers on here (including “Stairway to Heaven”).
No hope of objectivity on this one for me, can I listen to it again?
There are no notes. This album is fantastic. Album Cover: 8/10 Top Songs: When the Levee Breaks <3 Rock and Roll Stairway to Heaven
I enjoyed. I found I like a lot of the songs better in the context of the album. I have heard a lot of the songs by themselves and always thought they were just okay.
Not often all songs are all so memorable even to this day.
Uh duh.
peak but not my style Black Dog and Stairway are highlights (of course) Going to California caught me off guard with how much I liked it. Haven't heard it in a long time. Playlist 🗣️
5/5, no notes. Story time: When I had first started dating Elizabeth she came to my dad's for Sunday night dinner (Maryellen was there) and we were sitting around the table post-meal talking, which was kind of a Tipton tradition passed down from my grandparents. Dad was telling us that he had seen a VH-1 thing about the greatest rock n' roll bands of all time and he was going through the list from memory. When he got to #3, he told us - to our shock - that it was Def Leppard. It turned into a big Tipton-style argument, as I am sure you can imagine, with Maryellen and me absolutely incredulous and refusing to believe that what he said was true. Elizabeth was probably simultaneously entertained and looking for a way to politely leave. After at least ten minutes of this - and depending on who is telling the story it was closer to half an hour - Dad somewhat sheepishly said "Oh wait, I think it was actually Led Zeppelin." This story still gets referenced any time anyone in the family says the names Def Leppard or Led Zeppelin.
Stairway to Heaven is one of the first songs I remember falling in love with. This album was one of my introductions to this time period of rock and it is likely the explanation as to how it became a favorite and why I specifically return to it when I am bored of my other favorite genres. This album definitely has my vote as the best Zeppelin album. Favorite Songs: Black Dog / Stairway to Heaven / When the Levee Breaks
I've had my issues with Led Zeppelin, here, doing this project, surprising issues, as I own two of their albums, but you know what, fuck it. I'm past "Battle of Evermore" and at 5:55 of "Stairway to Heaven" now - well, not now, I finished the track first, but that was the moment when: - this is a 5 star album; their boring, sleazy blues rock side be damned.
perfect
Very good, a classic. Has my favourite version of Stairway to Heaven.
It got played three times in a row this morning
Culturally ubiquitous. Likely the best pure, succinct classic rock record. If you got rid of “Four Sticks” or swapped it out for something a bit more experimental, this is the perfect album. I have no more to say because there is no more to say
another classic from zeppelin. album cuts on this are great, four sticks is a personal favorite
Already reviewed this album in a different project. My 5 star rating and review remains the same: “Unmistakable, undeniable! One of the best albums in the world, ever. Simple as that. Any less than 5 stars for this masterpiece is a sacrilege of the utmost.”
When you put aside all the 'greatest ever' nonsense that surrounds both the band and this album, this is a really good record. Yes, I occasionally get a little tired of some of the songs, and Stairway is over-praised and over-played, but when the guitar solo in that song starts, or the first drum hit thunders on When The Levee Breaks, or the Jew's harp opening to the album leads into "Hey Hey Mama" on Black Dog, it can still raise the pulse.
Although not to my personal taste, I cannot fail to give this album a positive review. Led Zeppelin are an iconic legendary band very popular globally so to give it a thumbs down purely based on my own musical preferences would be immature and churlish
What to say? Don’t play Stairway at the guitar shop?
Feel like Zep is the apotheosis of the semi-meandering dinosaur rock shit that I hate. And yet: they're pretty good. I don't get why people LOVE this stuff, but I do recognize that every member of the band is at the top of their game. This thing has so many hits it's hard to believe they all fit on one album. Hate all I want, there's no denying this joint is a masterpiece. A mercifully tight 42 minutes, too.
All timer. Easy 5/5
15/16 year old me (1975/76), this must have been the first Led Zep album I listened to with friends of the same ilk. Tastes change over the years and I moved away from this genre. It was good to listen to the full album again and give it the time it deserves to listen to completely back to back. Favourite tracks: The Battle of Evermore. Misty Mountain Hop. When the Levee Breaks. Prefer side 2. This deserves to go in.
An undeniable classic. These songs have touched your life somehow at some point. Even if you don't like Led Zeppelin (I'm not crazy about them, myself), you've at least enjoyed music that's been influenced by them. Gotta show the respect.
It’s zeppelin. Should be one. But it’s five. Probably 20. Battle of evermore and misty mountain hop total 15 of those.
The album's timeless sound had made it cornerstone of classic rock, displaying the band's creative peak and lasting influence. Highlights include "Stairway to Heaven" a master piece of progressive rock, and the powerful "Black Dog" with its complex riffs, it feels like there's always something new to discover, no matter how many times you listen.
I couldn't get into Zeppelin years ago so I've never really given them a chance until now. There's some great songs on this record that I'll be returning to for sure
the most important classic album in music history.
What can be said about this album that hasn’t already been said? It’s fantastic and always takes me back to my youth where this was on the turntable almost permanently.
Incredible album.
5/5. You already know what it is. A classic in every sense of the word. A perfect rock album with a collection of hard rock tracks and even some slower songs to cover the breadth of rock & roll. Led Zeppelin always hits and the skill in each musician is not questioned ever but the songs here are just far above the best written in their catalogue. It truly is amazing that even after I have listened to Led Zeppelin for years, coming back after a while always feels fresh and new. These songs are just timeless. Best Song: Stairway To Heaven, When The Levee Breaks, Black Dog, Misty Mountain Hop (Honestly all of them are just perfect)
Nothing I can add to the stellar reviews. Just listen to an indisputable 5 star album.
Great album if you are a zeppelin fan. 4.5
ICONIC.
Led Zeppelin IV is an all time rock classic with brilliant musical performances in every imaginable way which creates an incredibly enjoyable, and varied, listen. The opening track “Black dog” by introduces some of the great things you will experience on the record including catchy lyrics, brilliant guitar work from Jimmy Page & great vocals. This track has a great energy. “Rock and roll” comes through with much of the same greatness. Brilliant solos on both tracks. The almost surreal “The battle of evermore” changes the pace of the album rather than adding another rock and roll track. And this is appreciated on the album. The iconic and profound “Stairway to heaven” is the centrepiece of the album and for good reason. It’s obviously one of the best rock songs ever written with one of the best solos ever, brilliant vocals & lyrics. Side 2 opens with the fun & groovy “misty mountain hop” before going into the mesmerising “four sticks” which features brilliant drumming and vocals in what is a really unique track on the album. “Going to California” is a fantastic acoustic track with a nice relaxing feel. The album ends on the slow burning blues rock banger that is “When the levee breaks”. I feel I can’t speak too much on this album without repeating over and over how brilliant every single performance is. From guitar, vocals, lyrics, bass, drums and even mandolin and harmonica. This is an all time rock masterpiece. And it doesn’t even stick to just one strict genre. All killer, no filler defined. An absolute must listen and one of the albums which defines rock & roll. 5/5.
All bangers, no skips. A lot of people don't care much for Four Sticks, but that driving beat is so fun to me.
Misty Mountain Hop is an overlooked gem.
Some of the best music ever made.
I wore this cassette out in the summer of 86. The first note brought back so many memories.
Greatest album ever recorded by a band not named the beatles
That's more like it ... a real classic.
