Reviews (page 15 of 15)
Bruh, nah.
Never been a fan
Ew
Bland and inoffensive
Can’t give -10 the musical equivalent of beige - sad sad stuff
I have heard this enough over the years, music for ladies. It's best suited to adverts and Martin is just embarrassing. How have they sold for many records? Concerts with gliwing f*cking wristbands, f*ck off.
More-boring U2.
no
- Predictable, kind of soulless, boring. - AI generated music before AI generated music was even a thing. - A corporate idea of what music sounds like come to life via some label who invented Coldplay in a lab to print money. - The lead singer of the band said this was a bad album, apparently. Makes me wonder if this album got a lot of bad reviews or something. It's not like it would be wrong for him to like or be proud of this album, I'm sure it was formative for a lot of people. - I dunno. I was over it halfway through and it just kept going. - Kind of hard to disagree with all the people who think that Coldplay is the audio equivalent of a "chick flick". Some chick flicks are fun, though. Romcoms are chick flick material, aren't they?
Hiçbir şarkıyı sonuna kadar dinleyemedim sabredip. Spies şarkısı 9 yaşında bi çocuk tarafından yazılmış diye düşünüyorum. Çok zordu, bi daha sakın dinlemeyeyim.
The tracks are indistinguishable from one another. It is impossible to tell when a song ends and the next one starts. It is just bland and Chris Martin's howling on top.
I imagine this was part of the prepare yourself for the sweet release of death
Words cannot describe how much I hate this band. Personal enjoyment: 1/5 Relevance to this list: 2/5
Wow this is so not for me. Yes they are competent musicians but it boggles my mind who this is for. And why Chris Martin sings the way he does. He seems to be apologizing in every song and that gets tedious. At least no song is much longer than three minutes.
White bread. Toyota Camry. Meat and three veg. Beige curtains. Mid-strength lager. Coldplay. Do yourself a favour and listen to something better. One star.
Over produced, pretentious and boring. The fact that this album is 7x platinum says more about the lack of musical taste of of 7 million people than anything else. If I could give this a negative rating it would still be too high
I've always been kinda anti-Coldplay just based on radio play and thought maybe this album on this list would prove me wrong. It certainly did not do that.
This is beyond rubbish. What drivel. Like a soft rock Cranberries rip off. Hate it
The music is bland and uninspiring. Chris Martin's voice sounds like an animal in pain. I've never heard a coldplay song I liked and this just solidified the fact that they do absolutely nothing for me. At least Kolaps and Limp Bizkit are entertaining to hear what the hype about them being awful was, this was just a generic waste of time. And not even in the "this was okay but not for me" way some of these have been where I just leave it playing. I'd rather sit in silence than listen to this.
Geht so
When Coldplay really had their moment twenty years ago or so, they were everywhere. My roommate played them all day long, my good friends played them in their cars. I even remember when Paradise came out years after I thought we were finished with them, and a buddy sat me down and was like ‘listen to this!’ all excited, cranking up the volume. I will always hate Coldplay. It has nothing to do with the songs themselves, some are really quite good. But it’s that voice. That grating, sickly, whiny voice, and he uses it in the worst way in every song. The only time it ever worked for me was on this album, on the song Yellow, because to me, that’s the color of his voice. His jaundiced, ear-scraping voice. That’s the only song I’ll tolerate from them, and even then, in small doses.
You know what album you "need to hear before you die"? The album that makes you want to listen to Radiohead!
I was almost going to give it 2 stars and then I read on Wikipedia that its success was linked to Radiohead going too far in their experimental side. Come on! That's an insult to intelligence.
Not so keen on vocals and lyrics (their next album is quite an improvement)
Een wijs man zij ooit: “Coldplay je dikke moedeeeeer!”
Ik heb mijn Waterloo eindelijk gevonden. 1/10
2/10 Highlights -
Whiny. Pretty sure that was the same song 12 times.
There isn't a single listenable song on this album. This is the first album I have gotten on this list that I wish I didn't have to give a start rating to, because I don't even want to give this one star.
Trash
Best song: Yellow Vibes: anhedonia, headache, Themes: love, spies
What can I say about this one. People tend to say that this is their "potential" album. The one that suggests that they are a good band that took the wrong path. While it's not a "bad" album, it's not good either. Just, there. If you like Coldplay, and this is your favorite project by them, that's fine. But if you don't, you won't find here much to love. Very monotonic, bland, the songwriting isn't great and chris Martin's vocals... if you like them you do, and I, sadly, do not. What can I say... I thought it was a two but
Relentless boredom
Music for weddings that I do not want to attend.
No.
The most quintessential “We have Radiohead at home” album ever. I don’t know who this appeals to. The album is a pleasant bore, nice sounds and production but boring songs. I feel like Coldplay never fit in anywhere; Gorillaz came out with their debut that same year. The White Stripes and The Strokes were about to explode into the scene. Radiohead dropped Ok Computer three years before. It’s no wonder why they sold out so fucking hard. You can hear it in this album. Yellow is not that good of a song btw.
My only wish while listening to this was that I too would love to consciously uncouple from Chris Martin. This is a completely vanilla band, I have no idea why they are as big as they are.
Ass but yellow is okay
Yellow still hits at least
I don't care for this. I'm sure their soft and gentle approach is for some people, just not me. Even the songs that build up a crescendo, never really cash it out. Not giving this another listen
Not my thing
I just really hate coldplay. I don't think I'll ever understand the appeal.
Not as bad as I expected. If it weren’t for the vocals it might even be good.
Previously rated: A Rush Of Blood To The Head (2/5) ************************************** I should have written this review right after I listened to the album until waiting until the next day. Most of the anger erupting from me while listening is gone. I wanted to punch the guy in the throat whenever he went into his falsetto (which happened to be in every g-damn song!) This has to be one of the lamest, no balls whatsoever, rock album I've ever heard. I don't remember how many times I said "SHUT THE F*** UP" out loud in my car. Please let this be the last Coldplay album, I'm begging.
Diet Radiohead. Make me sad these guys are one of the top selling artists of all time. Very bland.
Wanna be Dave Matthews Band. Sound like they should be playing weekends at some local bar. Lead singer's voice is quite annoying!
Whingey shite.
Well, this listening endeavor has revealed lots of things, and today's lesson for Andre... boy do I dislike Coldplay. Before being forced to listen to a couple of their albums, I was nonplussed. They sounded OK, but the music didn't speak to me. As I think I said in an earlier review, nothing sticks, it just comes and goes and I forgot what I heard. But today I realized, no, I actually can't stand this music. Not sure why. It's like they're coloring by numbers. Singer dude seems like he just discovered this cool "flip to falsetto" trick and HAD to use it every 12 seconds. And each subsequent musical section didn't sound like it added to a cohesive song, it was like they assembled parts that sorta fit. So, anyway, apologies to anyone reading if you love the band. Clearly, they've got a mass of devoted fans. I'll be that asshole in the corner, fingers in my ears, waiting for it to finally just stop.
Wow. this album aged like a gallon of milk. I remember loving this when it came out and thinking that Coldplay really fell off. Turns out they've been pretty bad from the beginning, we just took awhile to catch up. I don't know what was going on in the early aughts, but it wasn't good for any of us.
Cloying. Annoying. Repetitious. Bland.
Well there we have it. The worst fucking album on this list. I hear there’s another Coldplay album on this list so please pray for me.
Fuck cold play
Blech, 2/10
ew lol
I felt a sense of dread whwn i saw this pop up on the list. I had to ask myself some hard questions. Was my predjustice correct, surely their is some musical merit some insight, somerhing that engages. And then it hit me, it's music without soul, sure it all fits and works as music should, but i want music to take me somewhere, to provoke some reaction. This album takes me to asda and leaves me feeling empty and slightly annoyed.
Thanks Coldplay, for ruining my commute you insufferable bell-ends. You can take your shitty miserable whining nonsense and do one. And when you've done that you can do one again. I really didn't like this at all.
Oh FFS! That was my initial reaction when this album came up. I had to stop for a moment and question, why did I hate Coldplay so much? Putting my reservations aside, I gave it a go. Less than a minute in, it's Chris Martin, does my nut in, yup those contrived predictable lyrics, droning on and on, give me a fookin' break. As for the music, majority of it is so bland, but then there'll be an odd chord progression that strike me as interesting... gotta be one of the other Coldplay guys screaming inside to get their creativity out there. Jesus wept!
I'm a simple man, I see Coldplay, I give it one star without listening and move on. Life's too short...
Wasn't a fan when it came out and not a fan now.
Nope
Absolutely not
Oh FFS. Minus 5 stars. Beige background music for Barry C Homeowner types. I was 20 when this came out, the weird thing was they released Shiver as a single first and it was kind of alright. It got played a lot at Paisley Student Union in 2000. Then Yellow came off the back of it and became a honking monster of a song. To the point out it’s still in that irritating DHL advert. I mean plenty people must like it. Maybe it’s me that’s wrong? No, that couldn’t possibly be it, it’s the children that are wrong. I re listened on my way home from work and my opinion hasn’t changed.
Yawn. Classic Coldplay.
i sure do not like chris martin's voice! this album already had a strike against it, but i tried to be as fair as possible with coldplay's parachutes. but all of these songs were boring! they slid into one another and i couldn't tell where one ended and another began. well, i can say that the piano stood out on a few tracks! that was one good factor. bye, i will never listen to this again!
Cannabis or a strong preference about where your coffee beans are grown, is required to enjoy. - Josh
Personal bias, I hate Coldplay. Too whiny.
I went into this album with an open mind but man, I struggled to get through this one. Songs are too long, instrumentation is ok but kind of samey. It’s weird because Chris Martin seems to be an objectively talented vocalist but I still found him super annoying? Haters and lovers both seem to like Shiver but for my money it might be the worst on here. Yellow is alright.
Coldplay, meh!
Yellow is alright. Don’t Panic is probably their best song. All down hill from there
Music to die to. Music that smells like disinfectant pumps in municipal hospitals. In 2007, it may have worked to evoke some emotion among the numb, anti-biotic cow-people, watching X factor sob stories slack and passive, trying desperately to remember what being alive feels like, slumped immobile in gelatinous clumps. Not now, though. Not even that.
To quote the immortal Thorgy Thor: “Ugh, Jesus. Gross.”
Fuck off Coldplay
please no
I wrote this about Metallica's S&M album: "I can think of few things worse than having to listen to this." Turns out I was wrong.
Fuck Coldplay.
😴😴😴😴😴
Sucks big time.
One very late night in Malibu, I savagely berated a man who sopped up what little bandwidth we had to stream Coldplay. Fucking Coldplay….
UK friends told me about this band, this album before we’d heard of Coldplay in the US. They said, “You’ll love them; they’re just like U2!” Nope.
Pass
I would never willingly listen to a Coldplay album. Listening to Parachutes didn't change that. Absolutely bland. Not a single interesting song. Boneless Radiohead.
I cannot stand this band!
The most boring rhythm section of all time.
Boring. Chris Martin's voice is grating.

Dire stuff, I was correct to give them a miss back in the day
Yellow is great. Other songs were awful. I love chilled out music, but this is totally unengaging
DUMME SAU!
This whole album just sounded like Yellow lol. If that’s your vibe, this is the album for you In general: 5/10 My rating: 3/10
Enjoyed: No Listens: 1 Is this the reason depression diagnosis' have raised in the last 22 years? I can't say for sure, but I certainly took bigger risks when crossing the roads today
just not a coldplay guy
Hard skip.
Ugh.
I’ve heard of them but I never want to hear them.
I have spent too long disliking Coldplay for this to change. It’s part of who I am as a person. Not for me.
More boring garbage from Coldplay. This sounds like it has some better songwriting than A Rush of Blood to the Head, but it's still duller than dishwater.
noooooo
Ugh, Coldplay.
Don't panic was the only song that was interesting at least.
No. Just no
I can't stand coldplay
aweful
There are some coldplay songs / albums that I like but this is not one of them. They're really not to my taste, overall.
not impressed
geweigerd te luisteren
Had only heard Yellow before and liked it still. The rest of the album was nothing spectacular. Cool cover
Es que no lo voy a escuchar. Estoy traumada
coldplay songs are souless garbage with sprinkles for middle aged single moms to feel whole.
I am not listening to a Coldplay album.
I wish I could give this less
I can't bring myself to listen to this.
.5 star for yellow reminding me of running laps in the gym during PE
