Something close to perfection.

No notes. It's LZ2. Damn near perfection.

All killer no filler - bluesy rock'n'roll

Klassiker. Kan ikke ikke like zeppelin tbh

Led Zeppelin is one of those bands that Gen Z kids know of because their uncle or history teacher loves them, but haven't actually listened to (other artists that fit this could be: Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Clash, Sex Pistols) As someone who fits this stereotype, It was really my first legitimate listen to a Zeppelin album, and boy, was I blown away. I hate the "Music used to be better" trope, but I do have a hard time listening to this and not yearning for an era of music gone by. This just rocks.

I love this album. They were firing on all cylinders. I watched the recent Led Zeppelin documentary in IMAX and it was awesome, and it really highlighted how killer of musicians all four of these dudes were, and they really brought it 100% on this album. Quite possibly their best full length record as an album… tough contest though. Absolutely a must-listen (#131).

Awesome album! Loved it!

Альбом просто бомба, один из лучших у Zeppelin и того времени вообще! Некоторые песни для меня несколько необычны, но в общем и целом это настоящая энергетическая амброзия для ушей! 9 из 10.

My favorite album by my favorite rock band. Easy 5 stars.

This was the first Zeppelin album I listened to, and it’s still one of the best albums of all time. Ok, the plagiarism issues and lack of credit to the artists that made the music possible are shitty, but put that to one side and you’ve got possibly the greatest hard rock / blues rock band really starting to gather momentum. Brilliant album.

Like most Zeppelin albums, this is perfection.

Classic.

A behemoth of an album. Loud, playful and boisterous, while at the same time quiet, serious and sombre. Where I find the album tracks on most Zeppelin albums are somewhat lacking in comparison to it's hits, II keeps you fully engaged with little room to breathe. Best Tracks: - What Is and What Should Never Be - Moby Dick - Ramble On Worst Tracks: N/A Rating: 9.5/10

Un des monuments de Led Zep

Great stuff.

Certified fried gold. Every song a banger.

Sounds, so many sounds. Wild and unharnessed

Lyrics aside (but singing included), Led Zeppelin is great. Technically masterful without overplaying, and head bangy as anything.

I listened to the first Led Zeppelin album only a couple minutes before listening to this album in preparation for it. I really loved the first album so this album in comparison was only slightly weaker to me; however, I still really liked this one for all the same reasons as the first. The music doesn’t stop. It just keeps going. There’s no fat, no filler. The band is so tight and they’re masters at the instruments they play. Insane listening experience.

Led Zeppelin are among my favorite rock bands ever. My favorite songs are "Whole Lotta Love", "Heartbreaker", "Living Loving Maid", "Ramble On", and "Moby Dick". The album is a good length and every song is at least great, and many are amazing. 9/10

Hard to beat.

All-time favorite and classic!!!

Positief verrast, heel solid, experimenteel, gevarieerd, ook veel bangers. Lastig rating geven, uit de 60s maar klinkt heel fresh (1990/1993 remaster) 9/10

Yeah clearly Also I’m getting all their albums in reverse order so that’s cool

Undeniable

Don't have to listen or say much, one my absolute favorites. Ramble on.

Another classic 10/10 album and personal favorite.

What a solid album throughout its entirety. It just kept getting better. The instruments and Paige were humming on this album.

You have to respect the skill that they have and solid songs overall

This was their best album we've had so far. Absolutely loved it. I loved the mix ups between having Page featured prominently on "Heartbreaker", Bonham on "Moby Dick", Jones on "The Lemon Song" and tying it all together was Plant's vocals. Loved "Thank You" as a nice change of pace on the album. Felt like everything was super cohesive and sounded phenomenal.

Even that drum solo tacked on at the end can't ruin rock perfection

Just wonderful

So many big hits on this album. This album is actually deserving of being on this list. There's a could of songs you've probably never heard if you're a casual zeppelin listener, or only heard them on the radio. But there's also plenty that you have heard. Solid album, soup to nuts.

имба.

One of the best albums ever

Fantastic album! One of my favourites! So many iconic tracks!

Top tier music

Just an absolute masterpiece. A lot of these songs I had already heard, but they are still amazing every time I hear them. It was such a delight to listen to this album with headphones. I’ll certainly listen to this one many many more times.

My previous review:
“Not their best, but absolutely phenomenal in every aspect otherwise!” … and I still agree.

classic

The best

Damn The Lemon Song, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman) Litteral eargasms

The greatest rock band to ever grace the face of the Earth, absolutely crushing it with just their 2nd Studio Album. The talent of Page, Plant, Bonham, and Jones is on full display throughout this album. A masterful blend of rock and blues.

Superb

All bangers, absolutely no skips for real…timeless!!

Already heard

Great album. No sophomore slump with this album. Classic.

Love any opportunity to relisten to zeppelin. Empires collapse but cock rock will stand eternal

Einfach ein zeitloser Klassiker

An absolute classic! Of course, I was already familiar with the great hits like 'Ramble On' and 'Whole Lotta Love,' but I was also really impressed by tracks like 'Thank You' and 'Living Loving Maid.' I will definitely be listening to this album again!

I may like it better than the Zoso (Led Zeppelin 4) album

The Brown Boomber

Oh fuck yeah!!! Automatic 5 stars.

I remember this album being in the limited album collection of Dan and Sue, (along with The Doors debut, the first Traffic album and a couple of Moody Blues albums), listening to it at their apartment. In high school for speech class I used my brother’s portable stereo cassette system (a rare thing at the time for a high schooler to own) with wide detachable speakers (still wired), made a mixtape and did a demonstration speech on stereo separation in pop music. I used Daydream by the Loving Spoonful, Heaven is in Your MInd by Traffic, and the middle instrumental section of Whole Lotta Love from this album, and some other tracks as well (Beatles, I’m sure). I recommend listening to these 3 tracks on headphones. Anyway, a great album, solid 5, the band is tight, the drums are outrageous, and the lyrics are ludicrously sexist most of the time. Great songs throughout.

In 1990 my high school voted for Ramble On as our class song. I don’t think they got the Hobbit part. I HATED Led Zeppelin then. Led Zeppelin was the best and there could be no argument. Everyone loved Led Zeppelin and U2. So of course I hated it. I was so punk and didn’t even know it. It felt like everyone was listening to their older brother’s music. So it turns out I was wrong. Led Zeppelin is awesome and this music is so creative and full of ideas and unexpected changes. Okay maybe they aren’t all 100% original but when you come up with this much music some of it is bound to be stolen.

C’mon, there’s no question here. Move along.

>>> The Beatles

Banger after banger!

100% classic.

Just a rocking good time!!!

Energetic nostalgia trip down memory lane of familiar listenings of tracks such as a whole lotta love that have been used on many TV show and commercials over the years.

Awesome all the way through

Great album from Led Zep, its way more raw than their other work and feels natural

I mean where do i start this has to be my favorite zepp album tied with led zepp IV... Ramble on is my fav Zepp song for sure, whole lotta love is in my top ten, too much rad to put into words.

Hell yeah lead zeppelin

Great from start to finish

This is one of those rare nearly perfect albums. There's zero filler here. I still get excited any time one of these songs comes on. Even the more mellow songs like Thank You and Ramble On are beautiful and contribute to the tour de force that is this album.

This is just a magnificent piece of work!

Best LZ album…

Straight rippin all the way

Rockin memorable opening with whole Lotta love, bringing it back down a bit with what is and what should never be, squeezin the lemon, Heartbreakers which I can never hear without living loving maid afterwards, rambling on, bonham's masterpiece and slaying the white whale, and then we bring it on home. Five stars automatically, probably one of my favorite zeppelin albums of all time

I'm far from the biggest fan of this band, there are hits and misses, but this is my personal favourite Led Zep album and it's easy to see why. There's no duds and they crank up the heaviness from their debut which was already pretty heavy. Everyone is on fire here. Jimmy Page's great heavy riffs and Robert Plant's effortlessly cool vocals always had the aura - what you would notice first. But the rhythm section of John Paul Jones on bass which is really prominent on this record and John Bonham blasting away on drums yet still playing so tight were the heartbeat which is more evident on this album than any other. 'Whole Lotta Love' is still a classic. Fantastic riff driving the song, the middle section is iconic and the explosion of Bonham's drums into the screaming solos from Jimmy Page and back into the riff to take it home. Brilliant. Pretty much the same story with 'Heartbreaker'. 'Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman)' has a great singalong chorus and the cool riff after Plant sings the title of the track 'Ramble On' will be another one you'll be humming for weeks. One of the easiest five star ratings I'll ever give.

There’s nothing to say other than they can do no wrong…. Jokes but really the jimmy page mastery on this album is incredible. It’s the only zeppelin album I have on vinyl for a reason. I could wax lyrically about how good this is or you could just go listen for yourself. Enjoy

Goated album

It’d be hard to argue that this isn’t one of the most rock’n’roll Rock’n’ Roll albums of all (and it’s not even their best!). 1/2/3 were really just building up to LZ4, but man, what a best supporting album candidate

A perfect rock album. I’ve listened to this more than any other zeppelin album. One of the best opening songs and closing songs on any album.

Well ya can’t argue with that

Niet het beste Led Zep album, maar wel echt een verdomd goede

Classic songs, great sound, energetic but rough

Always good revisiting this album. Not a single bad track. But I'm sure some wont like Moby Dick being so drum solo heavy, but whatever. Let John Bonham have it. You can't let Jimmy Page have all the fun with his guitar solos.

One of the best rock albums I've listened to. Def coming back to this one

286/1001 Trabajar con esto de fondo (y aislarle del resto) es un regalo 😊 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

Great! 5/5

Already know I love it

***** ***** ***** All day long.... First chords of whole lotta love are greater than some bands entire output. I mean this most sincerely, they are like Radiohead musical gods Anyone who can sing about Mordor and make it sound that good gets my vote

What an album, these guys are heavy. What a drummer they had in John Bonham, and what a guitarist they had in Jimmy Page. Throw in some lifted Blues, and you get a great album. This is that album.

Classic full of bangers

I actually wrote, arranged, and produced all the songs on the record.

It's like grandma's french fries. You always gonna have some and it is always comfort when you are having it.

Led Zeppelin is always great. However, back then I started with album III. I wasn't that familiar with II. There are great tracks on the album, but I like other albums better. Nevertheless, it's a very good album. 5/5

Hot take: This band is really talented. Even more controversial: this album is really good.

Obvious Five!

One of my favorite albums ever. Hello, adolescence.

The first time I heard “Whole Lotta Love” I understood what all the fuss was about with Led Zeppelin. Copy/paste the link if you want to read my whole article. https://open.substack.com/pub/richcain/p/project-1001-led-zeppelin-ii-by-led?r=4ztyq&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=false

Loved it - what a talent - wanted to be in the gig throughout and the drums on Moby were cool- thx!

I am a very casual Led Zep fan...in that I really like the popular songs. I didn't really like LZ IV when it appeared on this list...but I really enjoyed this album. Pretty damned awesome!

Great album

This has got to be in the top three of Zeppelin's discography, right alongside IV and Physical Graffiti. This record is so good - they are all so clearly in their prime, starting to move into the more experimental/psychedelic sound, but still just playing as loud as they can. I am a die-hard Zeppelin fan. This was the best band of the late '60s - '70s and nobody can change my mind on that. There is not a single skip on this whole album!!! 10/10

What can I even say that hasn't been said before? Imagine listening to Moby Dick in 1969, Jesus

Great album. Hadn't vibed like this in a long time. Some songs of lesser quality but overall thoroughly enjoyed. Would recommend.

one of my fav albums

This is one of my favorites of all time, so no fair. :)

Car radio volume went all the way up at the guitar break in “Whole Lotta Love”, and didn’t go back down once.

A fantastic classic rock album. Truly a great masterpiece.

Just a smidge below III for me. Perfect blues balance in that transition phase from I to III. Amazing guitar riffs too.

genuinely no skip! a classic for a reason! juicy, skillfully done bass lines in every song. really found myself relishing those. these guys just know how to write a catchy, timeless tune

so good!!

I knew I had a gap in knowledge when it comes to Led Zeppelin. I really only knew their big hits. But listening to this album straight through kind of blew my mind. Such diversity while always being obviously Zeppelin. Truly wonderful.

Epic. 9/10

Are the first and last tracks enough to make this 5 stars? Yes, I think they are! The rest is nice, and I get the hype but personally I prefer listening to something with substance. When those 2 tracks in particular get going, everything is right with the world.

This is basically the album that all cheezy 70s rock tried copying. Also, probably one of the best sounding albums of the 60s.

This has been the best album I’ve been given so far. I actually went and listened to it again I enjoyed it so much. It has three of my favourite Led Zeppelin songs on it being Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker and Ramble On. Of my top 5 Led Zeppelin songs, those three are all there. The rest of the album was just as good and felt like it had little to no lulls! A great album!

Absolutely classic album. From the first track through the last, the hits remain great and even the “lesser known” songs are great. Heavy and driving throughout, this album moves from start to finish. Too classic.

Nice! Nine albums into my renewed 1001 Albums to Hear Before You Die and I get a stone cold classic. What I love about Led Zeppelin is they have one of the best hard rock discographies of all time. I mean come on, how many bands can say their first six studio albums are ALL five star classics? Ok, Black Sabbath too but not many bands beyond that. Most bands either come out of the gate with a great album or two and then slip a bit beyond that, or they need some time and a couple of releases to find their sound before they’re hitting on all cylinders. I’d say this is my favorite Zeppelin album… except that changes every day, their output is consistently so good. The only knock on them is they could’ve given a bit more public love to their obvious influences, Chicago blues masters like Willy Dixon, Muddy Waters and Howlin’ Wolf. My favorite cut is “Ramble On” (one of my first songs to learn on guitar so it’ll always have a special place in my heart), but the whole album is filled with bangers. Maybe only “The Lemon Song” and “Moby Dick” strike me as a bit meh. No need to waste any more words; this is the easiest five out of five stars I’ve had so far.

top top album

5 stars before I even listen to it again. Classic album, great cover, kickass rock & roll from top to bottom. Got into this one in the 4th grade combing through my dad's record collection! More than half the album is still heavily played on radio and satellite. Rock staples like "Whole Lotta Love" (which EVERYONE knows, 655M listens!), the lovely "Thank You", the rockin' "Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid" combo, the stellar and timeless "Ramble On", and finishing strong with "Bring It On Home". Throw in the amazing (slightly drum heavy) instrumental jam, "Moby Dick" and you have one seriously amazing rock album. Can't deny this one unless you listen to wimpy music and can't appreciate the brilliance of Zeppelin. No whining about stealing the blues, weaving in Tolkien, it's all smoke, this is a badass album that hits the highs and lows! Influence in spades, staying power/longevity, hits, firepower - this album captures a peak and is timelessness. 5 stars for sure, easy.

Already listened to this album. Just a masterpiece.

Awesome

Just an incredible album and defies belief that LZ came up with this in 1969. Robert Plant's voice just provides the archetypal hard rock vocal performance with subtlety where required, I'm not sure any of the artists that were inspired by his singing style could ever match the GOAT. Jimmy Page's guitar riffs absolutely rock, the rhythm section is on-point, basically it's as tight as hell and set the standard. I love the slight breakdown-followed-by-insane-solo trick they use on Whole Lotta Love and Heartbreaker - cool as hell

Some of my all time favourites are on here, the production is great. Moby Dick was one of the big inspirations for me to get into music early at a young age. All this to say, I am very nostalgia blind for it, but I do think the production and song writing is excellent.

Love this album to the depths of Mordor Still sounds so alive on a revisit

As far as hard rock records go this is probably the most iconic. It has influenced many bands and still is an awesome listen 50+ years later. Rock on!

I've listened to this album since I was a teenager, and it's long since been absorbed into my soul, my brain, and my identity. Most days it's my favorite out of Zeppelin's albums, though their first 4 albums could all rotate into that spot at any given time. It flows wonderfully from one song to the next, and I can recall hearing radio stations play "Heartbreaker" immediately followed by "Living Loving Maid" regularly as if they couldn't ever be played separately. The influence of this album is undeniable, as it echoes throughout countless songs from the artists that came along in Zeppelin's wake. Like those artists, I wouldn't be who I am without this album.

Not a weak song anywhere on this album

Classic. Banger after banger.

My favourite and imo the best Zeppelin album. IV is obviously the most famous because it has Stairway to Heaven on it but as an overall album I think this is vastly superior.

Easy 5. A sophomore album that sounds like a greatest hits compilation

All rise, here comes the King. There probably wasn't a bigger album to me in my teen years. I wondered when something like this would come around. Thank you!

A stone-cold classic. Near-perfect album all the way through, loved it.

My personal favorite Led Zeppelin album. I’m a softie for rock ballads.

Easy 5*... Led Zeppelin sold their souls to make such a perfect album

Awesome album. Still holds up.

And yes in case you were wondering I do have the Robert Ludwig hot mix

I whole lot of love this album

No question this is 5 stars. Light years better than their first album.

I have nothing to say here that hasn't been said before. Excusing the band's very apparent sexual proclivities involving minors, we all know Led Zeppelin 1-4 is probably of the greatest sequence of rock albums of all time. It feels morally wrong giving these guys a 5, but it'd be arguably more morally objectionable if I gave them anything less. Though Jimmy Page loves a 1/5, heh.

Highlights - whole lotta love, thank you, heartbreaker (loved the solo), ramble on, bring it on home Lowlights - living loving maid Led Zeppelin will always have a place in heart. Mothership was the first physical piece of musical media I'd ever bought after my guitar teacher told me to go and buy some good guitar music. I don't listen to them as much as I used to but most of my favourite bands these days still cite Led Zep as a crucial influence (only musically!) This is probably one of the better albums, a nice spread of classics. No major complaints

Led Zeppelin, Arthur C Clarke, Gary Glitter, Harry Dean Stanton, Roman Polanski. All famous paedophiles and sex criminals whose art, despite my better judgement, I enjoy a great deal. And by god, just like Lori Maddox was kidnapped by Jimmy Page for years, I too was enthralled as soon as Whole Lotta Love came on. None of the “women” that these songs are about could possibly be over the age of 15. I know that the guys in the band weren’t particularly good friends and would not see eachother outside of touring or recording these albums and bro I don’t blame them if I were John Paul Jones (a relatively normal person by 20th century musician standards) and I had to see Robert Plant scream baby and make sex noises into the microphone while Jimmy Page did the same thing but to a child that he had held against her will, I wouldn’t wanna see those cunts for six months at a time either. The best song on here is either Thank You cause I can see some burnt out boomers having their first dance at their wedding to it or Ramble On because of all of the songs on here this one sounds like it’s the least about being a paedophile (yes, I am including moby dick) I really do love this album and Led Zeppelin in general but I can’t get over the fact that these guys aren’t JUST plagiarists AND paedophiles AND heroin addicts but they’re also English and that’s fucking disgusting I enjoy this album like I enjoy watching car crashes online: too much. Highlights: Everything except Living loving maid that song is mid

Maybe my favorite zeppelin album.

Whole Lotta Love What Is and What Should Never Be The Lemon Song Thank You Heartbreaker Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman) Ramble On Moby Dick

Damn that rocks.

Arguably the heaviest rock album of all time. Page/LZ haters take a fucking walk. The voice of the Bob is so unique; textured and tonal its almost like he is a God like character speaking from the heavens. The drums are so gritty and groovy in combination with the bass, with crispy and crunchy iconic riffs. awh wahh is someone sad about a 14 year old girl they never met and how it "tarnishes" the art. Take a walk bozo. Go listen something else. 🤡

Likely my favorite Zep album. The overall hard-rock mood and guitar forward sound is just peak “how in the hell did this come out in ‘69?!” However, the groove section comprised of the John’s is where this album really shines. Chugging drums and funky bass riffs push the rhythm to the fore-front and bring the emotion of the music to tangible levels. This album hits you from all angles and infects you. Robert Plant does such an astounding job of embodying blues that it’s unbelievable to think that these guys aren’t even remotely close to the origination of the genre. The way multiple songs drift from one beat into another adds further to the complexity of the album. 69’ was an incredible year for Rock, and therefore music, and this album may just have led the revolution.

Led Zeppelin is the blueprint. What a sampling of songs. Every single member has a chance to shine. Plant and Page always have insanely iconic vocals and guitar. But the fact that this album has Moby Dick, arguably one of the most epic drum solos of all time, and The Lemon Song, which for me personally as a bassist, has colored how I approach a groove so so much, sets it apart from other LZ albums. Look. I’d never listen to an album like this in 2024. It is self-indulgent. It is corny. But in 1969, and probably only in 1969, this was needed and it set up so many extremely high bars for what rock and roll could be. If anyone said this was their favorite album of all time, I would cringe, because grow up. No one needs a minute long guitar solo. But goddammit. I would get it. It is an easy five stars.

No surprise here, Led Zeppelin II is an easy 5 stars. Although the first album may have higher highs, Zeppelin II is much more consistent. It also consists of more original songs and less covers which is always good. As per usual, everyone in this band is extremely talented and the best in their field. John Bonham deserves a specific shoutout for the song "Moby Dick" which has maybe the best drum solo ever made. Overall this is definitely the best album for a beginner Zeppelin fan. It defines everything the band is good at perfectly. Favorite songs: All of them but especially Heartbreaker, Moby Dick, and *Ramble On.

Such a phenomenal album of songs, including mostly original songs and some old Blues classics masterfully rearranged with Jimmy's bad-ass riffs, soulful vocals by Robert, and solid grooves by John Paul and John. From John Bonham killing it on Moby Dick to Robert pouring out his heart and soul in all of the vocals, fantastic album!!!

Moby Dick mit tollem Schlagzeug Solo.

Favourite songs: Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman), Heartbreaker, The Lemon Song, Ramble On, Whole Lotta Love Least favourite songs: Moby Dick 5/5

A perfect example of what happens when you mix blues and rock. This sounds way ahead of its time. Liked Songs Added: Whole Lotta Love The Lemon Song Heartbreaker Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman) Ramble On Moby Dick Bring It On Home

I should dislike this. The worst excesses of cock rock - every song is a paean to robert plants member. Jimmy page is a horrible creep. But it is awesome. Whole lotta love. Living loving maid. Heartbreaker. Just get out of here. Ramble on. My god. 4.5 stars. Dammit.

Album 613 of 1001 Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II (2069) Rating : 5 / 5 I'm not the biggest Zeppelin fan around. I don't dislike them but it is what it is. My listening time just went elsewhere. This is a great album. I found I was familiar with most of the tracks. A perfect blend of hard rock, blues, and psychedelia. Great vocals, musicianship, production. Just an all-round awesome album.

A all-time classic, Everybody should not must heard least one.

This was so good. Heavier than LZ1, less bluesy, more groovey. A very confident 5

Actually really enjoyed it, it was a little bit different to the Led Zeppelin I usually listen to. Moby Dick had a really cool Congo solo in it.

This is real rock and roll

just an absolute legend

Yesssss

Yeah another Zeppelin album that fucking rocks. Easy 5 from me. Been loving this for a long time and will continue to do so for a long time.

History!

I don't know what it is but Led Zeppelin just scratches my itch. The Rover, Houses of the Holy, Kashmir obviously, Bron-Yr-Aur, Ten Years Gone, Black Country Woman (for sentimental reasons), SO MUCH ROCK AND ROLL

A classic. Such a good album start to finish.

They don't come much better than this.

Great rock album

Masterpiece.

This album defines nes why you love Led Zappelin

Love it

"Led Zeppelin II" is the second album by English rock band Led Zeppelin. The album continues the band's evolving musical style of blues-derived material and guitar riffed-based sound on what many consider their heaviest. Each song was separately written, recorded, mixed and produced at various studios in the US and UK while on tour. Amazingly, it was initially not well-received by critics but became regarded as a quintessential hard rock and heavy metal album. The album was a big commercial success reaching #1 in both the US and UK. The album opens with a guitar-riff, bass and lead singer Robert Plant screaming "You need coolin'" in "Whole Lotta Love." Overlayed slide guitars. Drums, cymbals and echoing vocals also give this rockin' sing a trippiness to it. Parts of the lyrics were taken from Willie Dixon's "You Need Love." Soft vocals and drums begins "What Is and What Should Never Be." The song builds and has that soft-loud-soft dynamic. The guitar stereo effects adds to a pyschedelic vibe. Plant wrote this about a romance he had with a journalist's wife's younger sister. Plant continues the romance with a song about his wife in "Thank You." Jimmy Page on acoustic guitar and John Paul Jones on the Hammond organ. John Bonham with a soft drum beat. A heartfelt song with great vocals and even harmony vocals by Page. An organ fade ends the song. The classic guitar riff blasts open side two and "Heartbreaker." An great, unaccompanied guitar solo sounding a little different since it was recorded at a different location than the rest of the song. "Ramble On" was inspired by J.R.R. Tolkien (and not the last one). Acoustic guitar strumming and bass. The band kicks in. Layered with electric guitars. One of their best. Yes, this album is hard rock and heavy but there's elements of blues, trippiness and pyschedelic. Tremendous guitar solos and riffs by Jimmy Page. I will used the clichéd the sum is greater than parts as each of the musicians is vital to the overall sound. It's a great album to listen to on headphones and loud on your speakers to check out the stereo effects of the songs. A classic in every sense of the word.

Perfection

4:5 One of the 🐐’s . So good.

Great album, many big hits.

Everything by LZ is 10.

A great album throughout. The drumming on Moby Dick is worth having the album on the list by itself. Ramble On is a great song. Thank You is one of the best love songs.

Fabulous album

Banger.

Amazing. Pretty much loved every song. Forget if I didn’t. Had a ton of fun. Definitely listening to that again!

This is an easy one as it tick all the boxes for me. Influential album? Tick. Innovative sound? Tick. Just plain amazing music? Tick. Bluesy Rock with a great rhythm section and amazing vocals by Robert Plant. Always functional and the album sounds fresh, all instruments can be heard individually, it's not a "soup of sound". My only minor issue, as with some other older stereo albums (Beatles very guilty of this) the sound for individual instruments sometimes sits completely on one side or moves wildly from left to right and back - a bit nauseous esp. with headphones. Still, if this isn't a 5* I don't know what is.

a classic rock album from arguably one of the most iconic rock bands from the time, this album doesn't surprise me as to why it's in the history books. their second album has plenty of their usual loud tracks, with a few softer ones thrown into the mix to change things up. there's some really crazy audio effects too which are just as mind-blowing as they were when the album first came out. at the turn of the 60s and settling right into the 70s, this album embraces both tradition and experimentation. good stuff!

This has always been one of my favorite Zepplin albums, though I haven’t listened to it in its entirety in a long time. A beautiful balance of classic rock and psychedelic jams , this albums tells the tale of the times. Every song hits the mark, making me wish I could’ve experienced Led Zeppelin live.

No notes

This is just one of those records that means so much to me, and it will always be an important part of my life

i was a big led zeppelin fan in my formative years and this one was my favorite album of theirs, so unfortunately, i am going to be a bit biased here. i think this album is great. it probably still is my favorite of theirs. the songs here are top notch. the playing is, as always with led zeppelin, great. robert plant's vocals are iconic. but what sets this album apart for me is the production. this album has such a low-end oomph that i do not get on other led zeppelin albums. the bass and drums sound SO good and punchy. everything here is great, but to me, that's my favorite part.

All the stars. Still rocks with great melody and bravado. Put it in my veins

a favourite of mine

So many bangers on here man. There really isn't anything to dislike besides The Lemon Song to a certain degree but other than that goated album. Top 3 Best: Ramble On, Heartbreaker, and Thank You Top 1 Worst: The only slightly mid song on here is The Lemon Song. The lyrics are corny and suggestive but the production carries so damn hard that I truly don't think it's bad.

um dos meus preferidos da vida.

Bona fide classic rock album

Extraordinario. Perfecto. La música dentro de la historia de la humanidad tiene puntos insuperables, este es uno de ellos.

I had forgotten how great this album is! Led Zeppelin is the best example of the British band being inspired by American blues. While Plant & Page get the attention, John Paul Jones' big fat bass grooves seal the deal for me!

Great album!

One of my favourites albums anyway.

banger.

Easiest 5 on the list

Perfection. Some of the sex stuff is a little weird and the drum solo on Moby dick was too short but it had to fit on the vinyl so I get it

This album rules from the first second to the last. I can't listen to it too much otherwise, I'll permanently screw up my face by how much stankface this album gives me. It's so blusey and groovin' hm. John Bonham. All that needs to be said. 10/10, 5/5, 69/69. Whatever the rating, it's a masterpiece.

About as perfect as a rock album can get.

Total rock— I’m not very good at these reviews

Possibly my favorite Zeppelin album, it simply rocks.

10 stars. Classic

Classic no more needs to be said!!!

Perfection

epic greatness

Enjoyed

remarkable unity despite being recorded everywhere - ardent studios even (memphis shit!). Cool experimentation without losing sight of the fact that it is masters of their craft doing what they do. RP has a lot of the gurgles. Classic rock radio used to overplay a couple of these, but its been a minute, and that reverse/pre echo in whole lotta love is still the coolest production trick ever, even if it was as is the legend a happy accident. Cool robert plant gurgles, and the theft is less egregious than the first album.

Love the instrumental mix and guitar riffs from brought the album.

An amazing album. Heavy riffs and one of Zeppelin's best

One of the best!

An all timer. An Uncle gave me and my brother this album when we were kids so I'm very familiar with it. John Paul Jones gives a masterclass on bass playing. If you told me this was their best I wouldn't argue. 5 stars all day.

Not sure I have much to say about this. I have a Whole Lotta Love for it. So Thank You.

I’m a huge Led Zeppelin fan. In some ways, I think I experienced them the way many early fans did, so they’ve always had a special place in my heart. To explain what I mean, settle in for a little story time: Growing up in a very religious household, and having a pretty sheltered existence until high school, music like Led Zeppelin was out of the question. It’s not even that it wasn’t allowed. It was just so far from my realm of awareness that it didn’t even need to be disallowed. But once I got to high school (a public school for the first time in my life…how scandalous), I started to be exposed to “secular” music. I learned that music wasn’t just what the Christian music industry was pumping out at that point: adult contemporary snooze fests, brainless Christian rock bands peddling soulless and blatant stylistic rip offs of whatever was “cool” in the secular industry, and, god save us all, Christian rap. But now, for the first time in my life, I realized that music could be something else. It could crack the world open. It could mean everything. It *was* everything. I had my friends burn me endless CDs and I just couldn’t get enough. There was so much out there to explore. And it didn’t always have the cheery “god is great” undertones. Sometimes it was vulgar. Sometimes it was sad and depressing. Sometimes it was dark and disturbing. And I loved it all. Throughout high school, my music tastes expanded, but I mostly found myself digging into the emo and pop punk genres that were so popular in the mid 2000’s. So it wasn’t until I got to college that I started making my way around to classic rock. And of course, once you dip your toe into the classic rock waters, sooner or later, you’re gonna get knocked over with a big wave of Led Zeppelin. And that’s exactly what happened. I became obsessed. Not so much in the “I’ve got the shirt and the poster” and “I’m cool and retro because I like LZ” poser kind of way (I don’t like to gatekeep, but you know the type). It was about the music, man. For months, it was almost exclusively a rotation of Zeppelin albums coming over my speakers. It was fast. It was loud. It was mystical and mysterious. It was sexy. It could be experimental. It could be bluesy. It was edgy. In short, it fucking rocked. And that’s where I think I can relate to early fans of the band. I remember reading one of the biographies of the band and they highlighted how much of a change of tone Led Zeppelin was in the late 60’s. Sure, there were other bands doing some similar stuff around this time, but LZ helped usher in a new era of rock (dare I even call it metal?) that was a notable departure from the relatively tame and reserved artists of the early 60’s and certainly 50’s. Led Zeppelin was rock n roll. They were the devil’s music. They sang about sex. They partied hard and took over towns. They were seductive. For god’s sake, Robert’s dick was practically a fifth member of the band. But above all, they played LOUD. And they were a nightmare for all the conservative parents out there (like my own) who couldn’t stand that the kids were digging these long haired sinners from England. If you were to ask me what my favorite Led Zeppelin album is, it’ll probably change by the day, but the one I’ll probably say more often than any other is II. It just rocks so hard. It’s probably the best embodiment of all those things I described that drew me into the band in the first place. It’s fast, loud, groovy, bluesy, sexy, and in-your-face. All these years later, I still never get tired of it. 5/5 Highlights: Whole Lotta Love The Lemon Song Ramble On Moby Dick Bring it On Home

Classic album, knew more songs than I expected.

This is more likey style! Loved this one!

Another very solid record from LZ. Every track is a good one, and this one houses some of the most iconic guitar riffs of all time.

Wow.. so cool so groovy. A classic!

Wow I've been missing out on Led Zeppelin I think.

Shake for me, girl. I wanna be your backdoor man.

One of the best rock albums ever. Period

Plant, Page, JPJ og Bonham på toppen. Det er vilde riffs, primalskrig og en trommesolo der sejler derudaf.

1969! What a year. Miracle Mets, Moon Landing, Woodstock and Led Zep proving the critics are idiots with Led Zeppelin II. This album is Legend, pure gold. You forget just how good they were.

Absoluter Klassiker! Volle Punktzahl!

This one just rocks. Early Zeppelin defining their style with blues and originals. The bass is so high in the mix, the riffs are the baddest around and it's just heavy and cool! This might be their best ever. Saved Songs: - livin Lvoin Maid - The Lemon Song - Heartbreaker

Dang. This is still pretty good. Blues? Rock? Man. Blues? Rock? Man. Blues? Rock? Man. Blocks Rue McClanahan.

I would give this 5 stars just for heartbreaker alone. the guitar solo on that song makes me feral. the rest of the songs on this album are also just really good. even moby dick which is just like drum rambling

If anyone ever doubts the artistic worth of rock music, I will simply point them to The Lemon Song

I wish there was a 6...this would be it. I listened to this religiously as a teenager...a teen two decades after the original teens who listened to it. I didn't know at the time that I had stumbled onto one of the greats. I naively thought all music was this good... Led Zeppelin II is timeless, ageless. In part because they drew from older music themselves. There are reworkings of Southern blues throughout. And that material paired with such unique, rock solid musicians, made it destined for greatness. As an adult, my love of the blues and drums brings new meaning to it when I listen after all of these years. Maybe my teenage self didn't appreciate Howling Wolf and Robert Johnson... and didn't pay close attention to John Bonham. But I surely do now. It turns out, many of my musical loves grew out of my relationship with this album.

Chad album

Not a huge Zeppelin fan but this one's great I remember really not being sold on them back in the day and then hearing bring it on home which is still probably my favourite song of theirs. But yea just some great tunes, although I've always thought the solo in moby dick is just a little unwarranted and not very great to listen to, but still a jam anyway

A masterpiece by led zeppelin.

Off the bat - 5 stars. A real progression from LZ I with better song writing and tighter playing Ramble On is a top 5 LZ song for me personally, but it's by no means the only standout song on this album. This is still a blues-rock based album so lacks some of the experimentation of later albums but the music still sounds fresh and accomplished today. Like I said 5 stars!

Another easy 5/5 rating. A classic rock album that still kicks ass.

Bluesy and cool as fuck.

Classic! A great album from beginning to end.

Bangers from start to finish. A classic.

Banger after banger after banger. One of my favorites.

This is it what music is … one of the 🐐

10/10. It's Led freaking Zeppelin. :) This album is bliss from the start to the finish, and the tetralogy of Led Zeppelin's first four works is arguably the most important out of any other tetralogy. :)

One of the greatest albums ever released.

This album brings back very fond memories of driving to the golf club in the place I grew up in with my best friend at the time during the late 80’s. Discovered this album based on a recommendation and this cassette was constantly on. An absolute cracker of an album which takes me back to a summer of golf, windows down and carefree living. Love it

This is a killer hard/blues rock albums. Each individual component is solid on its own - Page’s dirty shredding, Jones’ fluently melodic and rhythmically driving bass, Bonham’s pounding drums, and Plant’s over the top wailing and moody blues singing. The whole is even stronger here than the components. Every song is a contender for best song on the album. A pinnacle of classic hard rock.

This is an album that you can’t hate even if you hate Led Zeppelin. Well, that’s stretching it I guess but if it was based solely on rock and roll with blues influence, you’d be hard pressed to hate it. Choice cut: Ramble On

Dammit, I'm going to give this pretentious, derivative, plagiaristic, screechy-vocaled nerdrock made by pedophiles five stars aren't I? *guitar starts jumping between channels on "What Is and What Should Never Be"* Yep. I am indeed going to give this five stars. Because I have two ears and they're connected in some way that I do not in any way understand to a set of balls. It can be as dumb or wankish as it wants to be, but this is rock & roll. If someone had never heard rock & roll music and wanted to know what that term meant, you could play them Led Zeppelin II and say "this is what rock & roll is" and they would say "did they just mention Gollum and Mordor and then have a several minute-long drum solo?" and you would just smile and do that thing with your hands that looks like devil horns and start nodding your head. And they would either get it or they wouldn't it, but you would have done all you could to bring them into the dark, dank, wood-paneled basement/wizard's laboratory wherein dwells rock & roll. Motherfucking five stars and fuck you for even considering anything else. Dammit.

Awesome

They were the unquestioned leaders for so long, but their supremacy seems to have taken a hit these days. Not enough T-shirtable iconography? No matter, it’s still the most blistering rock ever created, and this one may be the straightforward pinnacle of their achievement. Now it’s just for future generations to find and be blown away all over again.

I just had physical graffiti about two days ago, and so was determined to not give this album five stars as well. I can’t just keep giving the same band five stars as each time. However, I forgot about some of the stuff that’s on this thing. it’s just too good of an album to not give five stars.

Another album in my own personal top ten. This was the album which switched me onto Led Zep. Their first album had passed me by but was soon to become another hardly off my turntable. This album was everything a 16 year old male would want. Great guitar riffs (in fact some of the best ever) lyrics to make an adolescent boy titter (squeeze my lemon ‘til the juice runs down my leg) references to Lord Of The Rings which every self respecting boy had read and just about every song was danceable in the way young boys would gather in a circle, jump and air guitar so wildly all the girls would clear the dance floor. My mates and I even had a dance worked out for the weird bit in the middle of Whole Lotta Love. That song by the way was the anthem of boys my age at the time but as time has passed, as good as it is, I’ve sort of relegated it down the pecking order. What Is and What Should never Be is perhaps my favourite nowerdays. The guitar echo effect before the HEY HO is one of the best to listen with headphones. There’s even a great drum solo on Moby Dick short enough to leave you drooling for more which was always the case when played live. I love the dreaminess of Ramble On and the time when I was a young man just starting to earn, dressing as I wanted looking for a girl share the great times I was living then. Definitely an album to soundtrack my youth. If only I could go back there now knowing what I…….etc etc 10/5 29/7/24

Inject Moby Dick into my veins!!! Probably the most lewd of the Led Zeppelin og studio albums (not to discredit it) - too much incredible stuff going on to write about but what gets me is any time the beat drops out and Jimmy Page comes in strong is next level stuff

A fantastic record. Every track is a classic rock staple.

I've procrastinated reviewing this classic album for two months, trying to find a reason not to give it a 5. I failed to do so. It's interesting how much I enjoy Led Zeppelin when I tend to dislike the metal and glam rock they spawned. I'll attribute that to their phenomenally catchy blues-rock riffs. Whole Lotta Love is one of the best songs of all time.

Led Zeppelin II is a loud, confident, and endlessly fun rock album that hits hard from the first note. “Whole Lotta Love” kicks things off with one of the most iconic riffs in rock history — a perfect opener that sets the tone for what’s to come. The band wastes no time showing off their power, with heavy guitars, wild solos, and Robert Plant’s soaring vocals. Side two starts strong with “Heartbreaker,” a track that blends swagger with skill, and that sudden solo break never gets old. “Living Loving Maid” follows with a fast, catchy groove — short by Led Zeppelin standards, but packed with energy and attitude. Then there’s “Ramble On,” mixing soft verses with thunderous choruses, showing the band’s range and love for storytelling. Every song adds something special, and the whole album feels tight, bold, and full of life. *Led Zeppelin II* isn’t just great — it’s essential rock and roll. Favorite song: "Whole Lotta Love"

Never get tired of listening to this, one of my favourite albums of all time.

Everything about this album sounds right to me - only flaw, it's too short

What a ride. Man, these guys are heavy. What a drummer they had in John Bonham, and what a guitarist they had in Jimmy Page. Throw in some lifted Blues, and you get a great album. This is that album.

Kinda rockin

We all know it to be true. I remember my Spotify breaking once and I was stuck listening to "Moby Dick" on loop for like 20 minutes, and I wasn't even mad. And that's only like the third best song on here.

One of my favorites from childhood (thanks classic rock dad) and it holds up 🤘🏼

Amazing album including my wedding song thrown in there.

Easy 5 here. Every song is a classic. Amazing musicians and incredible music.

I love me some Led 🤘

Perfect

Until their fourth album, this was the Led Zeppelin album. Side one of the album opens with the stunning "Whole Lotta Love" which was used as the title music for "Top of the Pops", a staple TV music programme if you grew up in the UK in 1970s, while side two opens with "Heartbreaker" another classic rock track. Classic 1970s rock from the masters.

Classic. These are “standards”. Easy 5 stars

Every song a rocker, every one playing at such a high level. Zeppelin sets a new bar every time they make music.

While Lotta Love What Is And What Should Never Be The Lemon Song Thank You Heartbreaker Living Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman) Ramble On Moby Dick Bring It On Home

Maybe you won't agree if someone says this is their best album - that's you're right - but you definitely won't disagree. Whatever you like better than this, you concur it's on par. Feels weird for it to share a list with some of the other stuff on here...That this record was made basically live in the studio in between dates on their first US tour is absolutely insane. That approach doesn't tend to work all that well but they're the hard exception here. My theory is they were enjoying a massive creative explosion as a band so that every second the tape could be rolling the odds were good something amazing would happen. They sing about some of the stupidest shit - that's how hard they rock, that they can make you cosign their ridiculous if unique lyrical mix of classic blues grifts, jr high double entendres, and even more Lord Of The Rings than you expected, often at the same time. In the 80s I was a teenager babysitting for neighbors who had this on 8-track, which is the weirdest format ever and an awesome thing to discover when you're fifteen. 8 track sounded great, deep melting butter bass tones, but it has four sides instead of vinyl's two and these songs are so long it would randomly break in the middle of Heartbreaker, for example, and flip to Ramble On. Around the same time I picked up the electric bass and some of the first songs I learned to play with my buddies are on this record (Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker, Living Loving Maid), and there are other songs on here I still can't play right this many years later (Lemon Song, Ramble On).🤘🤘🤘

I'm not sure what it takes to get in the headspace to create and perform this album but whatever it took was worth it. Amazing, gritty, raunchy journey from start to end.

Great album, anything Led Zeppelin is always good.

goated band, goated album, no skips, better than my first listen, ig had all 4 led zep self titled albums now

I mean, come on.

I do like an occasional gong.

Flawless

Classic! The best! Every song! I remember we couldn't WAIT for their new albums to come out, and they never disappointed us.

Classic rock at it's finest, tons of great tracks. I could go on forever about how great this record is and how great they are. It refined everything that made the first album great to make this one even better.

Every song is perfection. Their worst song is the best song other bands only wish they could make.

I don't need to write a review about why this is one of the greatest albums of all time, we all already know that it is.

This probably isn't my favourite Led Zeppelin record but I don't think any of them would get less than a 5 from me. Amongst many other fantastic moments is the truly special rejoin in Whole Lotta Love where Jimmy comes in with that super iconic solo and Bonham is playing call-and-response with him. Easy 5 from me.

Puts the classic in classic rock.

Classic.

Everything Rolling Stones wishes they could have been.

It’s a banger of an album.

We have to be thankful to live in a time and space where we are able to listen to this record.

An album I've played many a time, and one of Led Zep's best. Rocking tunes like Whole Lotta Love and Ramble On cementing Plant as one of rock's greatest singers, to songs like Thank You which show his more soulful side. That being said it's much more than a singer. All 4 musicians show amazing performance and songwriting skill. 5/5

Easily 4 stars but Ramble On and Heartbreaker push it to 5 stars or A- for me.
