Not really my kind of music but it was a chill listen to hear it in the background. I don't think I would hear it again cuz it didn't tickle my brain at all

Not bad nothing too memorable

Not something I would listen to often but it’s very good

Besides the title track, this is mostly just fine background music. Unfortunately there's just nothing else to say about this album.

Stark trea!

Trevligt men inte mycket mer. Låter som nån 70-talsshow.

3 out of 5. This hold up better than Astral Weeks to me.

Fav: into the mystic 3/5

If ever you’ve wondered who is responsible for the success of Irish musicians making it in America, look no further than Ireland’s Golden Son, Van Morrison. I bet most American’s wouldn’t even guess he’s from Ireland from his singing voice alone or his various styles. To be such a national treasure and yet divorced of all the stereotypical pretense is quite a unique position and Van plays his hand well. Moondance feels like a conversation you had with a stranger on a train, someone on their way to finding a feeling, half real, half romanticized. You’re listening to find the truth, between the whisky flavored whispers, the bellowed cries of regret. Each song a snapshot of a man trying to piece his life together, a seasonal feeling, dewy mornings and colder nights. At the end of the ride, you’re left with a barrel full of words, without the mouth to speak them. So you hum along to a half remembered tune, the music drifting away, like smoke on the wind. That is Moondance -TomB

wonderful album, and it stoned me to open it up, magnificent recording!

Bom mas não é a minha praia.

Mente å huske denne som bedre. Men men.

I didn't realize that Moondance was Van Morrison (also that the song was called Moondance, who knew?) It was a solid album, based on play count Into the Mystic is the song from this album, but the self titled track would definitely be my first choice to listen to again.

That opening line that starts immediately after hitting play doesn’t do him any favours. “Half a mile from the county faaaaair” Although the album is just good vibes. Honestly was never boring and just feel good album. Sit by the pool/on the front porch and a rocking chair with a beer kinda vibe. Can we talk about the album art though? What are we doing here? Contemplating life?

On the first day of the year, this generator threw Van Morrison at me, and now I'm here to face him again. Like those video games that you face a boss multiple times, and didn't see it coming the second time. On this one, he has a few redeemable tracks on here to put this into "okay" territory. Favorite Track: "Moondance".

I don't like the whole LP, but some is great.

Beautiful, loved this but it got a bit boring. Favorite is the titular song, but this was great

It's pretty good. Soulful vibes, soulful voice and an awesome feel-good energy all around. Great to listen to while walking through the forest or the park on a sunny day, or an evening drive. Just a soothing, comfortable listen. Must say that the first half of the album grabbed me a lot better than the second half, but it's still perfectly enjoyable. 3.5/5.

Album 9 3/11/26 Here's an artist I've never sought to listen to in my life. Giving Van Morrison a chance here was a nice listen, but the album failed to hold my attention after a while. The title track, sounding like any vocal jazz standard, is sandwiched between two songs that sound a lot like The Band. I found out mid listen that this was recorded in upstate New York so I guess that makes some sense now. The session musicians and the skill of Van's voice really carried the album, and the vibe was sweet. However, it's hard for me to name key tracks because I didn't find any one of them more inspired than the rest. I guess I would pick out the title track and Everyone as being the most distinct, and Crazy Love + And It Stoned Me as my faves. Into the Mystic is the most played on YT Music by an order of magnitude and I cannot discern why. Solid 3 as the album was pleasant, but I don't feel like listening to more Van Morrison than the generator will eventually make me

не моё

Wonderful voice.

Not too crazy about this one but it’s fine I guess Before today I only knew Van Morrison as the dude who sang Brown Eyed Girl, so I guess it’s not surprising that every song on this album sounds like it. I have definitely heard Moondance before, never knew this was the guy who did it Instrumentation and vocals are pretty good, definitely passable. Lack of variety is definitely the biggest complaint I have about this one. A lot of the songs kinda just blended into each other. I think the energy’s just a little off where it’s not emotional enough and also missing some catchiness. Wish I could like this one more, it’s a pretty well executed album just not my thing. Also would have never guessed the dude’s Irish, good for him.

Moondance is the best song on the album, hands down. Really basic opinion, I know. Anyway, the rest of the album was just mid after that. I feel like that's an issue with knowing a really famous song on an album, nothing else on the album has that oomph to it.

This album was okay. I didn't love it. But I also didn't hate it. This is one of those albums where it feels like the artist was having a few music sessions and just rolled with that for the release. Which can really go either way. It's either going to be a pretty fun listen, or it's not going to click overall with a wide audience. Maybe I'm in the minority seeing as 'Moondance' was a commercial success. That, or Van Morrison does just happen to have a huge hardcore fanbase. Once you have listened to the opener 'And It Stoned Me' - You can rest assured that this is pretty much the entire tracklist. If you like that 70's rhythm and blues sound, sprinkled with some jazzy rock 'n' roll, this will probably be right up your alley. Theoretically, this should be up my alley. But there's just not enough of a punch or variety to bring it up a level a level for me. Lyrically everything is fine. For me, personally, I just can't find much to relate with. It's a decent album, and I think even if you're not a fan you can find something to appreciate here. Would I consider it a "must listen", though? Not really. But I also wouldn't tell you to ignore it completely. Did I need to hear this before I die? Eh

Its ok

I find Van Morrison a bit on the boring side. Nice songs, voice, etc, but not that engaging.

Didn’t like the last one by him as much but this one was better.

like the piano here and there. feel like i should be at the ski slops on a sunny day, sitting in a adirondack with my jacket unzipped, crazy helmet hair, and a steaming coffee and pretzles. solid vibes album

Not much to say on this one. I liked 'Moondance'. Good enough album that's probably of the type that needs a few listens to really appreciate, but we only have twenty four hours in a day. Fav tracks: Moondance

Van Morrison is talented, there’s no question about that, but this is the second time I’ve listened to this album and almost every song was unfamiliar to me- what I mean is, none of it stuck with me. Well, that’s gotta take it down a star at least, right?

You know, this is one of those albums that I can hear with an intellectual ear that it's pretty good, but it's just not quite my personal vibe. Nice enough to listen to in the background, but doesn't thrill me.

Hmm, some good stuff on here but not sure it’s particularly for me. May need to reassess

This was listenable enough folky rock. Between a 3 and 4, gone down one because of his crank status,

This album has a good overall sonic tone. It feels like a coming-of-age story of a teen exploring and experimenting.

nice music, appropriate for the time.

Van Morrison is a person whose music the more I listen to, the more I'm starting to like. Though he is not without faults, like one of his cliches I've quickly discovered is he just loves to scat sing, it got quite obnoxious by time of "Brand New Day" in the albums runtime. Anyways enough about scat singing. I quite like his unique voice, I found it quite funny in "And It Stoned Me" early on in the song it seemed like his Northern Irish accent was seeping through at parts. Other than that, lots of the songs seemed to be in the style of his song "Brown-eyed Girl" which I love the vibe of, so I was fine with. This originally was going to get a 4.0, but resorting to scat singing so much really did a number on me, so the albums rating is like a 3.40. Just not quite enough to get rounded up to 4.0. Highlight Song/s: "And It Stoned Me" and "Into the Mystic"

I didn't know that I knew this many songs on this album!! I think that Van Morrison might play a lot on the Spotify at my job so maybe that's where I'm hearing it. I don't know if I'd listen to this album as a whole, but rather put a few of these songs on a playlist or just select a few of the songs to listen to at a time. My favorites are "Into the Mystic" and "Glad Tidings". - And it stoned me: This is a very beautiful song that perfectly captures how I feel about nature too - Moondance: very jazzy, it feels like a city, nighttime scene in an old movie - Crazy Love: very chill song, it kind of reminds me of Bob Marley's "One love" for some reason? - Caravan: this one is okay, very laurel canyon, doesn't really stick out - Into the Mystic: I've heard this one a million times but have yet to grow tired of it. This is such a GORGEOUS song, I love the "foghorn", lyrics, bass, guitar, I love it all. - Come Running: meh - These Dreams of You: harmonica!!! - Brand New Day: okay chorus, okay soul - Everyone: funky, little melody at the beginning, what instrument was that? i like the woodwind too! - Glad Tidings: ooh I f with this song, the guitar is so yummy, it's very fun to listen to because there are so many elements but they all work together so stinkin' well! The bass, chorus, lead vocals, blah blah blah... all yum.

First time listening to Van Morrison. Not a bad album, but not the greatest. I really like the backing vocalist, and I enjoy the touch of the winds.

It's a good album. I'm not a huge VM fan in general, but you can't deny his songwriting chops on a project like this. The back half lags compared to the first. 3.5/5 from me.

A whole load of songs which I would consider just 'nice'. Nothing truly outstanding but I kinda like his voice. If it had just a little bit more oomph or a wow-factor it would score higher but alas.

The most average of all the average albums on this list

Good album that starts strong, and mellows out for me. You can hear Van Morrison's influence, on other artists, in his style.

A solid album. Van Morrison is one of those guys that when I listen to them I wonder why I don't listen more.

Honestly not my style but good nonetheless

I would've loved the album if it didn't stretch 2 minute song to 4 minutes. The musical ideas are great. But the song length really runs them to the ground with relentless repetition. Overall, great songwriting, the guy knows how to deliver. But not in a style I enjoy. It was a good one off listen but I won't be looking to replay anything from this album any time soon.

I liked moondance and crazy love

Enjoyed his music already was a solid rock album all throughout.

Ok album, never really been a fan of Van Morrison, but certainly Moondance and Crazy Love are both really good songs,

Better than expected. Easy listening.

It is very pleasant, I’d really enjoy it if it played in a cafe/restaurant. Don’t have any particular favorites, though. Just nice background music for when I’m in the mood for jazzy country

An ok album

An easy listen, but ‘Into The Mystic’ does a lot of heavy listening for me.

All this stirred in me was a slight curiosity about what the cast of The Commitments are doing now.

Heard worse

Openner threw me off at first- lowkey jump scared me- but the album was enjoyable

After the three first tracks I thought this would be a good album, but the rest of the tracks simply made me bored. It’s okay for this type of music, but it’s not for me. 5/10 for the opening trio

ganz ok-gut

Chill, easy listening Americana

Only liked one song (Moondance). The rest is boring

okay it was cute i liked about two songs on here but idk if I’ll listen to it a lot lol sorry van but still 3 stars

Great album. Good Friday music.

I have a strong association with this album. My family used to listen to this all the time. And there’s also Running On Empty, a movie with (I think) River Phoenix, that had a huge impact on me as a kid. At the end of the movie there is a very emotional sequence that is scored with Into The Mystic from this album. “I wanna hear it. I don’t have to fear and I wanna rock your Gypsy soul…com on girl” transcendent horns. Beautiful. But the tracks that I was less familiar with don’t always succeed here and sometimes come across as a fine example of music which could easily be parodied.

Van Morrison inspires great loyalty but I've not been familiar with his work. This album may well be a classic from his very long career and I suspect I should listen to more Van Morrison before passing judgement. I bet this app will be giving us more. Meantime, this album has some distinctive tunes and evidence of being influenced by some important other artists and genres. However, couldn't quite escape the feeling of it being 'easy listening' with some tracks being rather dull.

Only really familiar with “Brown Eyed Girl” by Van Morrison, which I really like, so I went into this eager to hear more of him. While the album was pleasant, it rarely rose above that. The chord progressions were largely predictable, and the lyrics were often pretty corny. Plenty of “la la la’s,” vague romantic longing, and radio-friendly filler. Overall, the songs blended together into a safe, unobjectionable listen, but one that ultimately felt samey and lacking anything truly great.

A nice and soft album Fav song - Moondance 3/5

Some classic americana/folk rock with some jazz breaks... this genre is usually hit or miss with me. I don't do out of my way to listen to it, let alone Van Morison. That being said, this album does not resonate with me, however, on a technical level, production on the album is fantastic. It is very well put together and mixed perfectly. I can see why it is a loved album. Stand out tracks: Moondance - I actually knew this song Caravan - I really like where the instruments sit in the mix

Good but forgettable.

It sounded good vocally and rhythmically, but nothing spectacular.

I liked this album. Classic sound. Not sure I would buy it or individual songs though. Three stars

Van Morrison was the Saturday morning music of my childhood. I have distinct memories of waking up and walking downstairs to the sounds of Van Morrison and a vacuum cleaner as my mom cleaned the house. When I got older I bought several VM records, including this one, on vinyl and have started many weekend mornings with them. Then the pandemic happened and we found out Van Morrison was kind of obnoxious. That’s a frustrating development that gives me some pause before reaching for those records now. Otherwise this would be an easy 4 stars.

Okay ??

"I make albums primarily to sell them and if I get too far out a lot of people can't relate to it", he later said. "I had to forget about the artistic thing because it didn't make sense on a practical level. One has to live." aldus Morrison zelf. 3.5/5 - prima muziek

Has some classics

This genre of folk rock is typically one that I wouldn’t indulge in, but i found myself pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed it. it’s smooth, it’s easygoing, airy, etc. I would definitely say the classic “moondance” is my favorite from this album. i thoroughly enjoyed the changes between slower jazz notes and more bouncy pop elements between tracks !!

Its good - i can see why it's a classic. But i'm not obsessed. Crazy love is truly a beautiful song, the lyrics are perfect. Van Morrison as a very warm voice. Also listening in grey, rainy Januray is not an equal playing field to give an album a chance

not bad, just didn’t hit the way I hoped it would

Was fine, didn't leave much of an impression on me,

Surprisingly modern sounding for a 50 year old album

I haven't listened to this one in awhile, but have always enjoyed it. 3/5

Decent enough but nothing stood out with the exception of Moondance, pretty average listen on the whole.

And It Stoned Me: 5/10 Moondance: 6.8/10 MBPW Crazy Love: 6/10 Caravan: 6.8/10 rlly nice Into The Mystic: 6/10 These Dreams Of You: 5/10 Brand New Day: 5/10 Everyone: 5.5/10 Glad Tidings: 6/10

vond het wel prima 7/10

some songs sound familiar 7/10

didn’t make it through the whole thing. Was nice but nothing caught my attention

Comforting - too bad he’s a dick

not exactly my style but nice

Moondance is a pretty big hit,, it's nice. Most of this is kind of nice. Kind of average.. Kind of a 3.

Nice album, the first songs, and some other along the album, are quite good. However, others feel too soft for me. 3,4/5. I will have Van in mind for future listening.

Van Morrison is well represented in this list, but I only really knew Brown Eyed Girl previously. Van has a good sound, definitely an album worth throwing on but maybe not the best active listen.

Not my style

pretty good

My first exposure to this album was my mom playing it to death when I was a punk rocking elementary school kid, so I'm predisposed to finding it a bit soft lol. That said I find it an altogether enjoyable listen now (with the exception of Moondance which I feel like I've heard about 50,000 more times than I'd prefer)

Tästä tuli Bad Company ilman kitaroita mieleen. Samanoloista musaa, vähän iisimpää. Van Morrisonilla on kyllä erittäin rouhea soundi äänessään.

Moondance, one of the most overplayed songs of my generation. To the point where I just hate it. Hate. Point deducted for the continuing assault.

wieso liebed lüt de van morrison so fest? and it stoned me isch nöd wüüürkli öpis bsunders. moondance coole swing aber ich bin gad nöd ide luune für sini stimm. findi afoch nüüt bsunders. ok caravan het chli öppis. aber er stresst mi chli.

Day 1 of #1001#albumgenerator being the third album release by Van Morrison widely regarded as his best. A subtle move away from folk jazz I must admit I enjoyed my first play of this 1970 album for probably thirty years and found it more accessible than previous plays. The title track is something of beauty. I have listened on CD for this recording and overall I think a 3 out of 5 from me.

Easy to listen to, nothing particularly stood out

Decent, into the mystic is a 5* and some other gems, but second side didn't do much for me.

gentle gentle album

I’m not sure what I was expecting from Van Morrison. I’ve never knowingly listening to anything by him but might have seen part of a set at a festival (or not, but I think I may have…). This was a lot more soulful and very radio friendly, much more than I had been expecting it would be. Good for VM as I’m sure it helped make him a lot of money and cement him in the public consciousness, not so good for me as it’s quite timid and middle of road.

The title song was the standout but I enjoyed the album

This wasn't what I thought it would sound like. I enjoyed it but not enough to want to revisit. Right down the middle.

No. 66 It was a nice enough listen while I did other stuff. It has a nice balance of upbeat and easy songs so it doesn't get tiring at any moment.

4/10 kinda boring

easy listening, good vibes, summer lake day

Maybe Van Morrison sounds so generic because he ended up defining what a lot of music sounds like. It is pretty paint by numbers, and you know what you're getting 10 seconds in.

I thought it was a good album! definitely new for me

Enjoyed this one more than I expected to. Lots of fun to sing nonsense lyrics along with.

30/12/25 never listened to this guy before and it stoned me- nothing much to say moondance- feels jazzy i love it what crazy love- his voice is angelic sort of zoned out for the rest... im tired okay stopped before brand new day

He’s got a hell of a voice, that’s for sure. This could have been released in 2005 and everyone would have lost their minds.

really interesting #lovecountrymusic

Moon dance is immediately good. The rest wasn’t really my style.

boring, sorry

Nice soul music

I enjoyed the way in which the album progresses. Each track flowed nicely and had its designated place in this album.

Beuatiful, especially Everyone.

A true classic album by an icon of a singer. The title song, Moondance, has spanned decades and for sure will continue to be a fan favorite. Van Morrison has pumped out a number of albums over the years and his vocals have stayed true along the way. I’m never going to complain when a Van Morrison song starts to play.

nice jazz and blues combo, but the album didn't appeal to me much

It was an alright album, and I can understand the appeal. However, I haven’t listen to many songs of this particular genre, so perhaps it’s not exactly for me. I did find it interesting though, so I may be discovering more of Morrison’s catalogue soon!

- The album feels nostalgic, I can imagine it being played to a montage of the seasons changing - I LOVE brass instruments used through an album, adds to the work having a sense of continuity. - We went from the countryside to the Ritz from track 1 to track 2 and I love it - Saxaphone instrumental break in title track gives me life. - Crazy Love following Moondance feels like cleaning up the house after a party - I think the Caravan as a track is a little bit long - Already LOVE into the mystic - YUP INTO THE MYSTIC IS MY FAV (so far) - Come running has a groove - Come running is good but i think others are better - I love the lyrics of These Dreams of You - again with the saxophone 2 thumbs up - Best outro of the album might have to go to Brand New Day - Brand New Day is gorgeous - Switch up with the instruments in Everyone?! Irish Folk influence?! hello fiddle. - The instruments is the most interesting part of Everyone, not my fav - I LOVE GLAD TIDINGS banger omg - However, I think Crazy Love would make for a perfect album closer Favourite : Tied between Glad Tidings and Into the Mystic

This album is really nice! Easy listening, really cute folksy instrumentals, and it didn’t all sound the same like I initially expected. No songs stood out hugely and it probably won’t immediately make its way into my listening rotation but I enjoyed the listen. Favourite: And It Stoned Me

Pretty good album, moon dance is definitely the song on this album but I liked more of the song on the back end

3.5 not bad but also not really my cup of tea

Varied genres, couldn’t finish. Moondance is fantastic song

A good one! Always really liked “Into The Mystic”and am surprised I didn’t come to love any of the other ones on this album as much, I thought I would be more into this than I was. Still so great to hear an actual band playing music with much less digital input.

pleasantly surprised

Good sounds, reminds me of Neil Young, sounds a bit like Rolling Stones in parts.

It's fine, didn't know that one song was from it

Middle of the road rating for a middle of the road album.

I am not a huge Van Morrison fan, so this was just okay for me.

2/3. Was not familiar with Van Morrison other than Brown Eyed Girl, so this was a pleasant surprise. The first half of the album is definitely stronger, I wouldn't say the second half is bad, it just didn't catch me the same way, aside from Everyone. His voice really stands out, but I also really enjoyed the simple, organic instrumentation of it, and the songwriting really shines through.

I think Van is another instance of good writer, bad singer. Place him in the same pile as Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. He just lets loose on a note as loud as he can and calls it a day.

Had no expectations for this album but really enjoyed it actually.

Enjoyable, feel like I’d actually heard more of this passively before that I thought I had going into it

I’m not generally a big Van Morrison fan. It’s that very gentle early 70s stuff that doesn’t do much for me. The titular song is probably the best one on the album and it’s kind of *insert shrug emoji* 🤷‍♀️ Neither here nor there. Perfectly alright

Calm easy rock vibes.

Ballsack, I hear you!

Classic. I like the Moondance track in his album.

Great album. Lots of great tunes

I don’t think I’ve ever listened to a VM album before and it was kind of what I was expecting.

Fairly middle of the road stuff that fails to grab me. I found it a pleasant listen at times and technically I guess it is a good album.

Unfortunately this just didn't hit like astrel weeks at all. While I still enjoyed this I am quite disappointed

He is a legend. The album is very good. It's just not for me 3.5/5

Very pleasant - had no idea Crazy Love was his! Gorgeous.

Pretty good, liked the jazz aspects a lot and Can has a great voice, very smooth and easy listening. Favorite Song(s): Moondance, Caravan

Didn’t know he was Irish! And actually never listened to a full album of his. Let’s see… I had never connected the song of ‘Moondance’ with VM! Knew its sound but didn’t know its name or its his 😱 Getting a much better idea of him from this and maybe had a slightly inaccurate picture (basically brown eyed girl). Good album, good groove, good songwriter, good heart but maybe got the gist half way through (3.5)

Soulful

I quite enjoyed this. I like his voice and his vibe.

A nice enough listen. The title track is pretty classic and while there's lots of talent on display it didn't speak to me enough that I'd go deep in the Van Morrison back catalogue.

I didn't think I knew any of this album, but then Moondance came on and I was like "oh wait I totally know this song it kicks ass". Nothing else on the album hits those highs, but it's a pleasant listen anyway. He's a good singer, the album is well produced, no complaints.

Perfectly pleasant jazz folk that I will never listen to again

I was going to give this album a higher rating after the first listen because I found it so immediately charming and listenable, but I realized after a second listen that after the first two tracks, nothing else really stands out as particularly noteworthy. It all started to blur into each other. A nice album to just stick on and chill out to, though. Favourite tracks: And It Stoned Me, Moondance,

It was always going to be a challenge for me to review a Van Morrison record. So much overexposure to his hits - may I never hear Brown Eyed Girl again - and then his bizarro personality. On the latter, I have been able to separate personality from music with others (eg, Michael Jackson) so I think I can do it here. Anyhow, overall the album has a nice vibe. The band is loose and the arrangements have a Memphis-y R&B feel. The songs have a certain sameness and his singing becomes tedious over the course of the album. And It Stoned Me is the song I like best despite the use of the word jellyroll in the lyrics which I find jarring regardless of Van's intent.

Not much of a fan...it's a bit dorky for me...but he does have a distinctive sound, even if it is repetitive.

Heck, I can't rate this. It's always been there, and I guess it's good for what it is, but it does sound like one long song.

it's alright. Some parts of the singing is nice, but the voice and repetition just ain't it for me.

I like folk music so this was a better listen for me that some of the other albums on this list. That said, something about this doesn't quite resonate with me the same way others in this genre do.

I have lived in England for two thirds of my total time on Earth – and never bloody once have I pointed out a Morrison’s van while singing “Crazy Love”. Since it’s unlikely I’ll be back there anytime soon and highly likely I forget about this whole thing soon (you’d hope so), I must mourn for the moments of hilarity missed. Van Morrison, at least here, feels more in the moment than that. In fact, it feels like he takes the moment very seriously indeed. There’s a bright phenomenology about the tracks, an insight that feels critically interrogative – like Derek and the Dominos scoring a John Berger documentary. Moondance is a brilliant pop record. The midwife of soft rock, as someone put it – it makes a strange sort of sense that you can draw a straight line between this album and the sight of infidelity on the kisscam at a Coldplay concert. (PG horniness and soft rock, name a more iconic duo.) “Moondance”, “Crazy Love” and “Caravan” is a splendid run, but there’s good to be found in all corners. Superb playing, serious song craft and a stack of sophisticated pop soul.

I don't remeber

For some reason, not too offensive? I would never ever choose to listen to this though.

Not too shabby

This is really good music to like cook dinner to I enjoyed it but wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it again.

Fun but not ethereal like Astral Weeks.

My previous Van Morrison review (for a double album): "I was never a big Van Morrison fan. I've loved some of his songs and I know his importance in the history of popular music, but I just never got into him. Wasn't thrilled to see that I will be listening to 90 minutes of him today, but I will try to go in with an open mind... About halfway through: I think getting old has raised my Van Morrison tolerance. This is OK." Moondance is the Van Morrison album I would have most expected to see in this project. Actually no, that's probably Astral Weeks. But this was very popular with girls in college. I dated a girl who was very fond of the non-word "fantabulous" - that did not help me enjoy this album today. But recognizing "Everyone" from the end of Royal Tenenbaums DID help me enjoy it.

3.5 Is there a more underrated run of songs than tracks 1-5 on this album? I love Van Morrison’s warm, soulful voice and the folky/soul rock music that goes with it. I’m also a sucker for pianos and horns, which are pretty abundant here. It’s a little top heavy, as I start to lose interest deeper into the album.

interesting voice. not the style i like. but theres a singer/songwriting vibe here. 3/5

Reminds me of childhood.

I'm surprised I'm not wanting to rank this higher. It is good sounding but it feels a bit dry. Maybe I just know it too well so it blends into a background when it doesn't deserve to. Into the Mystic is the best on the album.

3.50-3.75 only two to three songs I really enjoyed on here Title song carries it, along with some high energy sections

Heard of van morrison, never listened to an album. First song is fine, not life changing. More poppy than what I was expecting. As I listen more I’m liking more. Have heard moon dance, banger. Immediate add to the playlist. The jazz fusion in both of the first 2 songs is really cool. Good songwriting too. Songwriting is good on crazy love, song itself is fine. Too soft rock ish for my taste. Chorus is catchy not much more to it. Caravan is better but still not life changing I’d say. Fun song/chorus. Great singing voice. I like into the mystic, production is really good. Songwriting too. Sax solo at the end is really good too. Come running is an interesting change of pace. Fine song. I like these dreams of you better, but still not life changing. Another cool sax solo. I like brand new day, catchy not much more to it. I like the background vocals a lot. Everyone is a fun song, cool background track. Glad tiding is a good song, feel like I’ve heard it before but I have. Great way to end the album, wish more songs were like that one. Ultimately the album was fine, probably won’t ever listen to again. 2.5 stars

I understand why people like Van Morrison, he's obviously a talented guy. His music has just never clicked for me at all, I have tried. I did like this album more than the double live album I got a while ago, It's Too Late to Stop Now, but I just, nope.

Impeccably played jazzy folk, but it lacks soul. Musically this album sounds meticulous, with horns and pianos coming in at just the right places. It's almost so perfect as to feel stuffy. The title track has a jazzy interlude that's a joy to listen to, but it's the only moment on the album where it unbuttons and lets loose. Some of the tracks have moments that make them stand out - the "Radio!" bit on Caravan and the la-la-las on the closer - but even those moments feel restrained. Van's a great singer but he rarely puts a lot of emotion behind his voice. It's kind of odd that this came after the free flowing Astral Weeks, as it feels like a trial run for that album's adventurousness. "Into the Mystic" is a good example of a song that could use the Astral Weeks treatment; it has a good melody but feels too short and straightforward to make use of it.

quite nice

So good the vibe and all and its like the best autumn album its a solid 7/10 ‘These dreams of you’ is my top song from it I loved it

Good but Cameron Winter clears

I need white men to stop making podcasts and start making music like this again. It’s not totally my thing but I had a fine time listening. I know this man has a lot of lore but I know none of it.

This was fine. I enjoyed the combination of folksy jazz and I thought it was well executed. It just didn’t really do much for me otherwise. It wasn’t particularly memorable. Maybe I just hit it on the wrong day, idk.

6/10 - relaxing jazz pop rock

Nice and easy listening, with some interesting sonic elements in the mix. A little more soulful than typical folk singer-songwriter stuff, and has some jazz touches here and there too. Not something I'd likely come back to, but decent overall.

I didn’t think I knew any songs on this album until Moondance. It’s the song I hear at work all the time. Favorite songs: Moondance, Crazy Love

I wish this was a bit more upbeat. I like it, the voice is good, just a bit slow for a Friday morning in October. Not feeling it. It needs to be played late on a Summer's day. Driving home: you have a touch of heatstroke and you're anticipating crashing out on the sofa when you get back. Feet slightly aching, you decided to play this because you were in the mood after hearing a busker singing Brown Eyed Girl and you want some REAL Van Morrison. One to keep for those occasions, but not today. Still decent but without that mood, I can't give it any higher.

Okay. I slept like shit. I don't have it in me to give an extensive review

Standard VM

If fedoras were music.

Hey, it’s that song from The Royal Tenenbaums This is like a 3.5 but I’m rounding down

Better than I expected. Great instrument sound. Good song construction. Voice gets grating after a while.

Enjoyable. Not wow. A couple of familiar songs and a few others. some of it was quite similar. A bit better than average. I would listen to it again but not seek it out to own it. 3.5 stars

6/10 Not bad 10-03-2025

This was pretty good! Great background music. I liked Stoned me, caravan, and into the mystic the best.

Am I over Van Morrison?

Van is ok I guess..

Pretty good

It's all just very nice. Well crafted songs, with nice instrumentation and vocals. It won't be something I'll revisit, but I quite enjoyed it nonetheless. 3.5 rounded down.

Easy listening, but also easy to tune out. Has some really good moments and yet a lot is forgettable.

No private session used for Spotify. Love the song, but never listened to the album or any Van Morrison album. The album is pleasant, has a lot of nice songs, pretty mellow.

Easy listening

3.5 maybe

whimsy blues!! But uh... literally forgor the songs the moment I stopped listening. So, sweet but forgettable

Not bad. Some of the songs were pretty cool but a bit too southern for me 😅

Album is a total hit-or-miss crapshoot. Oscillating from “oh hell yeah this rocks” to lame circus music. Caravan, Into The Mystic, and Glad Tidings are great tracks.

Recognizable artist/sound/songs. Appreciated a couple listens through, but a bit slower than the music I normally seek out.

Only know Van Morrison through the hits. This broadens it a bit.

mediocre. 2,5

I'd play it again on a road trip

I listened to this while cleaning the underside of my bidet. It was alright.

Honestly, this was pretty unexpected. And I don't think you can come into this album and not be surprised unless you really know what you're getting into with Van Morrison. While I do really appreciate the width of this album, I'm not enjoying Van Morrison's voice, and it takes a lot of the enjoyment out of listening for me. Which is a shame, because I love all of the different instruments making appearances and adding to the songs. Even though I'm not really enjoying it, the album does get points from me just because of its instrumentation. Favorite Song(s): Crazy Love

Songs I would best describe as country. Good for waking up and maybe an intro scene in a 70s themed show. Don’t think I’d ever learn the words though.

Very folksy. I think if I were in the right headspace (high) I'd probably like this more than I did listening to it at work. Have heard plenty of the songs before, but was nice to hear them in context.

Folk gets big and poppy with plenty of influence from the jazz and rock scenes going round at the time! Love the layers of wind and brass over the band, the record (much like the artist!) has a distinct voice. Lovely, but samey. Favourite tracks: Caravan, Moondance, Brand New Day

A bit of a mixed bag of an album in terms of song quality, but a fun listen none the less. Another album that would get 3.5/5 if I could officially give half star ratings.

Few good songs, but never my thing

I find the title track kind of grating for whatever reason, but there are some good songs here. I think Royal Tenenbaums is doing some heavy lifting for me here to make this a 3.

Some great songs and a great voice. I'd only heard his hits so I didn't quite expect this.

mid for the amount of streams it has

Distinctively “Van Morrison” with his bard-like voice. Not quite folk, but definitely not hard. Lots of acoustic instruments

I liked this one in college, but didn’t enjoy as much listening now. Also thought he was American this entire time until looking his bio up today! Into The Mystic was probably my favorite track on this album but the rest is a little too old man for me on this particular one. I’ll give it another listen in 30 years.

Was suspicious of this one, as I find the song 'Moondance' really quite annoying, but the rest of the album was quite enjoyable.

I expected to love this one give Mystic. Instead of come off blah. Moondance is ubiquitous. In the end don’t see myself listening all that often. 3/5

I love the song Moondance mostly because of American Werewolf In London. Maybe if the rest of the tracks appeared in the film, I'd like those as well. Unfortunately the rest of the album didn't excite me too much, all too middle of the road

Not my style. It’s good, it just needs that “fit.”

This is a tough album to rate for me. Into the Mystic is an all timer for me, it is a song that speaks right to my soul. And Moondance just plain sucks, from the terrible lyrics, to the rock flute, to his pitchiness. There are some really good songs on here and some absolute cheese balls. So I have to split the difference with the star rating.

Choosing to listen to this album voluntarily would be like choosing to sit in the back of my Mom's metallic green Buick in 1979.

I feel like its an alright album but I really dont take any songs away from it.

Folk isn't typically my thing, but this is a pleasant enough listen. The instrumentation is subdued save for a couple riffs, so it's very chill.

Sounds like US country music

This is the sort of music that I could happily have on in the background when doing something because it really doesn’t offer anything fantastically interesting but trots along. Something that annoys me about Van Morrison though is that you spend 10-15% of the album listening to him simply making noises. 3 stars.

Kinda fun, inoffensive, happy vibes. Flute was fun. Best song: Moondance Notable(s): Crazy Love

Cover 5 First half is great. Second half iis ok.

Hmm... It has been a while since I had this criticism. I think Van Morrison is actually quite unique and wonderful. Not quite jazz, not quite pop, not rock... not quite a singer/ songwriter... Van Morrison is unique. That makes him all the more interesting and since he is quite good and calming and enjoyable to listen to, it can even be delightful. But... Van Morrison IS unique! His voice is very specific and distinct. He has a style which is consistent... so ... A whole album in a row starts to get a bit redundant. Yeah, it sucks to say, but I started wishing it would "end soon" and it was not a long album. Taken individually or a couple songs at a time, GREAT! But he runs into the not uncommon problem of many a fine band: Things start to run together after a while even as individual songs (any of them really) are quite nice. SO. On his own merit, four to five stars! In an album played in a row...

The song "Moondance" has one of the best bass lines ever. The rest of the album is fair

Bluesy, folky, soulful, well-executed album, the enjoyment of which has been undermined for me by its overexposure.

A jazzy folk-rock album that started off quite promising, and had quite a few really nice songs (particularly that title track!), but by the end it was starting to blend.

It wasn’t bad but I didn’t love it. Moondance (the song) was kinda good and jazzy but the rest of it all blended together as just old people music.

Moondance is obviously the stand out

Remember Van Morrison's loony phase? I remember it like it was yesterday. "Moondance" has some good songs. However, I wouldn't consider it one of the greatest albums of all time. It seems I had a rubbish week this time. 3 stars for "Moondance".

Good album. Reminds me of a less drugy version of the doors mixed with some Bob Dylan

It’s ok. I really really can’t stand Van Morrison’s voice but the instrumentals are fine enough. Really like the song Moondance but nothing else really stuck out to me.

Not much to add that I didn't cover in the It's Too Late to Stop Now review. I enjoyed the instrumentation and it was pretty easy to listen to, but a little too slow and unexciting for me. The jazzy title track was my favourite from the album.

It's a good album, nice easy listening, I just won't come back to it, but will enjoy the hits when I heard them in the wild

I only knew Van Morrison by name. I expected something polite and boring, but it was actually a very pleasant album. While it is indeed a bit too much on the easy-listening side for my taste, the soul, folk and country influences blend well together, and Van Morrison totally makes it work thanks to his genuine love for these genres. It’s full of heart and emotion, and I can totally see myself listening to this again. On the downside, there’s not a lot of variation throughout the album, most songs follow more or less the same pattern (except Moondance, a beautiful song). It’s also a pure product of its time, so much that it almost sounds like the soundtrack of a generic movie about the late 60s. He was obviously a talented artist back in the days, but maybe not original or excentric enough to leave a lasting impression beyond that time period.

Nice tones, good ambiance. But it does not linger.

I really don't understand how Van Morrison could have turned into a famous singer. His singing is unpleasant to say the least... This album has a big highlight and a very low lowlight. The highlight of course is the title track - that is a fantastic song. But why on earth is that wonderful bassline played on an electric bass????? This screams for a double bass. The lowlight is very clearly 'Crazy love' - that's horrible. A meager 5/10. Because of 'Moondance', the song.

Smooth easy listening.

7/10 This was better than I expected, could have been a soft 4 but in the end it was t quite interesting enough. The boy can sing though, really fits his style. Best: These Dreams of You

This album cover made me gasp (and lol). It reminds me that Kyle Mooney recently released an album ("The Real Me"). Nice font though. Also, I do genuinely like 'Moondance' the song. Also, Wiki says Van Morrison's wife was named Janet Planet. Amazing. Perhaps the inspiration for "The Wedding Singer"'s Julia Gulia? I'm not sure what my preconception of Van Morrison was (old? like Tom Petty but more old?) but even though this is kind of country-adjacent (as well as old), I kinda like it. Mellow, lyrical, some background horns (I'm calling saxes horns now, sue me). After the first few songs, it began to feel a little too dentist-office for me, though. (Apparently 'Into the Mystic' is one of the best songs to do surgery to, which is cool, but I don't want to imagine being surgeried during my music listening time). Highlights: 'Moondance' (nice lil compound, implies the existence of Sundance... wait a second!), 'Glad Tidings'

i liked the vibe but ultimately think the songs were mostly forgettable

Honestly fucked up to have this immediately after CCR, because it might as well be the same review. I prefer John Fogerty's dirtier sound, and the fact that these two albums might as well be interchangeable in my mind save for the smooth jazz background, I'm inclined to ding this lower, but you know what? Perfectly good music Of This Kind. Good, but could probably go through life without having heard this, though.

One of his best but not THE best

A great representation of the era without being boring. Van Morrison is a unique assortment of instrumentation and styles, but with the production techniques that keep it in the Classic Rock sound I grew up with.

More of a fan of the live versions of these tracks

Pretty solid folk album. Moondance was pretty different from the rest of the album because of the Jazz influence, but it's probably the best track on here.

Pleasantly surprised with this record. I wasn't expecting a mix of Pop, Folk, and Jazz. I enjoyed the jazz section in "Moondance." Favourite Track(s): Moondance, It Stoned Me Least Favourite Track(s): Into the Mystic

This is good but not really my thing. I'm not sure I'll ever return to it unless my tastes change and I get even more sentimental as I age. I guess that's the fun of this project.

I always confused Van Morrison with Morrisey. Now I know the difference. This jumped right into it on the first song, I had to check that I didn't click a few songs in. Usually there's a bit of instrumental, but not this one. It wasn't bad, but I prefer other late 60s/early 70s albums. 3 stars

Good album! Has some good songs! Not a crazy Van Morrison fan but still a classic!

Great voice, some of these songs were kind of mid

It starts pretty nicely with some actually great songs, specially because of the arrangements but it just peters out after a while, a shame because it starts with the kind of sound I want out of folk rock but winds up being more standard stuff at the end than the beginning...

I really like this, it was boppy and felt like a warm hug and Werther's Original

Probably a 3.5. I think it deserves another listen

I’m not going to lie, I pulled a face when this came up. I don’t knowingly know much by Van Morrison other than Brown Eyed Girl which suffers from being played at every wedding, disco or party for the last million years. I actually quite enjoyed this listen though, and I recognised the title track, and although I’m not sure I’d rush back, it has its merits for sure.

Enjoyable, AM standards like Moondance and Into the Mystic are familiar. Its a good record. Its a little bit Jazzy, a Bit folky. Cover is a bit weird though, like a 70's Australian Fast Bowler...

Moondance is a great song but the rest is pretty boring. This guy is such a prick.
