Reviews (page 8 of 13)

Very good.

Besser als das andere Album

Good solid album with lots of classic songs

A few great songs and some meh.

Great album.

I really feel an influence from The Beach Boys/early Southern California rock. But I also hear the beginnings of the pop punk era. Well done and some classics. Although I can do without ‘turn blue’ lol

Throughly enjoyed it! First half is strongest by far.

Good one

The best Iggy Pop album. Punky, groovy, everything you could want. Best track: The Passenger

Great album, punky, but not too much, lot's to like

The man the myth the legend in his golden era. Clear Bowie influence here!!

Was this the one Ian Curtis played when he killed himself? *Googles* Oh no, it was The Idiot. Shall i remove all this then? No! This is still a great record, though.

Classic rebellious teen. Has lot of highs and lows.

- it’s like mick jagger and David Bowie had a baby

Bowie produced Iggy Pop. Not really an Iggy fan overall, but this was enjoyable enough. Very much of its era in production. 70s NY vibe. Lyrics didn't agree well. Probably won't be reaching for this again in particular, but it wasn't bad. 3 Star

Hiya dog face! 3.49 étoiles

I liked the sound of this one, kept me interested and engaged throughout.

It feels very 70s. Sexy and unapologetic. Cool but not cliche or overdone. A really good 40 minutes representing its time in a very chic manner.

7/10 fav song: fall in love with me

Enjoyed it less as it went on. Not sure I was in the mood for this particular vibe, just not as good as work Bowie has produced for himself in my opinion. Some tunes at the start tho so I’m giving a generous 3

First side is mostly solid rock, side 2 peters out tho with two overlong songs. Could've been better, could've been worse. Highlights-Lust for Life, Some Weird Sin, The Passenger, and Success.

Y mañana? Otro de Elvis Costello?

Didn't realise how Bowie influenced this was. A far cry from the Stooges

I like the drums of the song because it feels funky with the lyrics (Not really) but I like how. It talks about a war because it's like you're in the war making music. Even though you're not making music in this song, I like how if you probably heard this song for the first time. You would maybe turn up the music on this song and I would recommend it because of the vibe it has during the song.

I think this album is pretty good. I like the instruments used and I also like how it sounded. I would give this 3.7 stars if I could but I'll just give it 3.

You can really feel the David Bowie on this album, but even worse is when you can feel the absence of Bowie and you get a lecherous song about sixteen year olds. It’s an okay listen otherwise, but I don’t know if it’s one I would personally come back to.

This is a fun album. I've heard a few of the songs before, but it was good to hear the rest. Clearly I had already heard the best songs however, I did enjoy the others, but they are not quite up to the same quality as the others. Others. Therefore this gets three stars instead of four

Very strange highs and lows on this one.

A very solid album, not my favorite of Oggy's work but it does have some solid tracks.

For what and when this came out it's surprisingly fun to listen to.

Enjoyed that

Honestly pretty fun and poppy but I think this is the type of rock that has a ceiling for how much I’ll enjoy it.

Good Had only heard passenger and lust for life, but the rest of holds up as very good 70s punk. Couple of iffy moments, the sweet 16 ones a bit noncey (Bowie was involved obviously) but besides that a very good record. Favourite track: Passenger

Not especially my genre but this was OK.

Bowie-esque at times but otherwise a bit dull and whiney for me

Me listening to track 1: 😀😀😀😀😀 Me as soon as track 2 started: 🤨🤨🤨🫠🫠🫠🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

I didn’t have high expectations for this album. I listened to the preview and thought, “Okay, I’ll give it a listen, but I probably won’t like any of the songs.” But these tracks had a really nice rhythm, and somehow they lifted my mood a little. My favorite was “Turn Blue.” There was something about the sound of that song that really resonated with me, and it made me want to keep humming it on repeat.

It’s really solid! It definitely is a product of its time but there are timeless moments on it. I will say, it is HEAVILY produced and centered by David Bowie. Songs like “Tonight” and “Success” sound more like Bowie than Iggy entirely. Overall a good album but not one I’ll return to often.

My second Iggy Pop. Good, but not really for me- can't seem to get into his style. Decent enough though

Its ok, all the songs are super simple and they all sound similar. Not into this one a lot. I prefered te stuff he did with the stooge.

The famous songs are great but the rest of it isn't that remarkable.

Good album, "Fall in Love With Me" was my favorite. But I prefer older Iggy Pop.

A couple of fun familiar songs, but never really got into the full album

Very very difficult assessment. Some great songs on here but "Turn Blue" made me so incredibly unhappy, and that turned to anger at how a large chunk of this album is terrible and maybe even objectionable. Really hard one to rate as I would certainly never listen to this whole record ever again, but on the whole I finished it feeling like Iggy was maybe about as talented as I had thought he was. Not terrible, but not some secret genius either.

Nice, didn't say much but was very nice rock-y

Lost for words idk what this was but sure why not

good job, david bowie.

308/1089 should’ve been Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life… jk this’ll be interesting The Passenger sounds SO familiar, didn’t know that was Iggy Pop though this album was decent, he’s obviously got good charisma and i enjoyed listening faves: The Passenger, Fall In Love With Me 64/100

Awesome platter.

Don't love the lyrics, the music sounds good but it makes sense that a lot of it is probably Bowie. Honestly would rather listen to a Bowie album but nothing is wrong with this one. Would rate this a 2.5 if I had half stars but round up to 3 for Bowie's presence.

Doesn’t have the raw power of a stooges album. Some decent tracks

Always wondered what all the fuss was about and still not entirely sure tbh...

Decent

-Day 2- === 3,5 === 1. Lust For Life 3/5 I like it. I mean, it's not a song I would listen to all the time, but it's not mid either. (3/5 means 6/10. 5 is average, 6 is above average, so it’s good.) 2. Sixteen 1/5 Creepy song. Musically, it’s kind of good, but I definitely wouldn’t listen to it because of the lyrics. 3. Some Weird Sin 3.5/5 Groovy bassline. I like the distorted vocals. Also nice guitar tone. 4. The Passenger 2.5/5 This one is okay. Nothing special about it. Maybe it'll grow on me (I usually don’t like songs on first listen). 5. Tonight 4/5 Great song. I can hear Bowie's backing vocals. This one is less energetic than the others, and that makes sense as it’s the last track on Side A. 6. Success 4/5 Fun song. I like it. 7. Turn Blue 4/5 8. Neighborhood Threat 4/5 This one is so 90s. I don’t know how to explain it. 9. Fall In Love With Me 3.5/5

Hea energia, aga tundub, nagu see plaat oleks olnud hea 60ndate ja mitte 70ndate lõpus (eriti kui samal ajal eksisteeris nt Led Zeppelin). Esimest korda elus on wurlitzer mind tõsiselt häirima hakanud. Plaadil on kaks suuremat lugu ("Lust For Life" ja "The Passenger") ning ülejäänud on võibolla sellised lood, mida on huvitav laivis näha, aga mitte niisama Spotifyst kuulata. 2.9/5

she lust for my life till i pop

Definitely some bangers. But not every song needs to be 6 and a half minutes long

I thought I would like this more since I'm a fan of the Stooges. It ended up just sounding like watered down Bowie, which makes sense since Bowie wrote for and played on this album. Not bad but didn't grab me.

I like the vibe of the album, but it's not something I would listen to often. I appreciate the variety of different styles in it. Its very refreshing compared to some of todays music.

Really just straigiht down the middle - Passenger is a good song I guess but nothing memorable about this album besides that for me.

me gustó

For how popular some of the songs seemed I thought I'd either recognize them or they'd stick with me, but nothing stuck out to me. It was a fine album, but nothing crazy and I wouldn't listen to it again.

What an unusual voice. Such a character. Fun listen . . . once

it's decent, "sixteen" feels very creepy though and there's only two songs i thoroughly enjoyed. i'd give a 3.5

As a huge fan of The Stooges, it's always nice to think of Iggy reviving his career, and the highlights of Lust for Life and The Passenger are iconic songs, but the rest of the album doesn't quite hold up. Sixteen is just a bit creepy with modern ears, and there are multiple points where Bowie's influence is...let's say 'strong'. Probably balances out to a 3 overall.

Much like his friend, David Bowie, I just don't enjoy Iggy Pop all that much. His voice is pretty terrible and the lyrics sound like they were written by a twelve year old (which would make "Sixteen" almost forgivable.) I've heard this album several times before, but this time I listened on headphones and discovered some subtleties in the production that I had missed before. Once I was able to nearly ignore Iggy's voice, I found some interesting music trapped behind the frontman. That music gets the stars, not Mr. Pop.

Some interesting stuff, didn’t get the chance to listen properly though more than once though so will have to come back Passenger is a tune though

5/10 Best songs: Neighborhood Threat, Fall In Love With Me Some pretty good songs, good beats, and generally good vibes. The issues: Sixteen did NOT age well (like, in the problematic "you should be looking for someone your age" kind of way), and Turn Blue is so godawful that it basically makes me want to give the album 1 star. I'll settle for a 3.

Ni fu ni fa

kinda like if mick jagger was getting an amputation without anesthesia

interesante sonido y me gustaron un par. le di like a some weird sin. Le pondría 3.5

Not that bad

Never a fan of Iggy. Tried again, still not a massive fan. But appreciate the raw, puck attitude of this rock icon.

"La la la la la la la la" 3/5 yo creo

Got a beach boys vibe to it I’m fw it!

ja, war gut. is jetz nix wirklich hängen blieben aber war ganz gut i guess.. gegen ende hats ma immer besser gfallen dann

After listening to Iggy and the Stooges I was not excited about this one. However Lust for Life and The Passenger were surprisingly good. Still not quite enough to rate a 4.

enjoyable actually

boring

Lägre lägstanivå än vad man önskat sig

Kul och The Passenger är verkligen toppen, men inte så mycket som stack ut utöver den.

I find this album enjoyable.. To be honest it didn't amaze me but I didn't hate it either 3/5

Solid enough but didn’t stand out

This was pretty good. Better than I was expecting (two massive songs and the rest, filler)

Standouts Lust For Life

It's Iggy and Bowie, so comparing to their other works, "Good, not Great." But, that's a higher bar to set than for most. It's worth it. A great listen. But, not the first album I would grab from either of them if I were in the mood to listen to one of them.

I feel like I got this album recently? Trainspotting song. Hmm The Passenger sounds familiar too.

Sólo por The Passenger le doy algo mas. Siento que no me produce mucho. Nota: 3.2

Who hasn't had it in the ear before?

Messy in a good way.

Fine. Just fine. Not remarkable at all. I think I'm not a big fan of Iggy Pop. I don't really get it.

This was just fine. None of the songs were particularly memorable but I didn't dislike any of them

Me gustó, pero no es tanto mi onda. Aún así me interesó esa música de los 80. El mejor, "Tonight".

Im not really used to listening to protopunk and garage rock. This album was a pleasently surprise, even though it probably will not stick with me.

Best Song: Passenger

The title track and The Passenger never get old, but the rest of this is pretty hit and miss imo. Success and Some Weird Sin are other highlights. Lowlights include pedophilia, which (should go without saying) isn't ok - even if you are a heroin addict.

6/10… glam rock / proto punk / *1977

idk. it’s cool i guess lol

hmm it’s an alright album, very pop… haha get it Iggy Pop. most of the songs were good, i liked the song passengers. yea i’d rate this like a 6/10.

Honestly? I listened a few times but take the Passenger off this and I can't say I really want to listen again. The title track is iconic and relatively unparalleled for the time, but the rest of the album reminded me of bits of Bowie that I don't enjoy that much, but with slightly less enjoyable vocals. I love the Stooges and some of Iggy'y stuff, but... yeah. And Sixteen... no.

Hmmm, I had high hopes for this. I like Iggy pop, I love his stooges stuff. I enjoy him live. I really like lust for life and the passenger, but this album as a whole didn't really do it for me in the way I hoped. It was quite fun, I'm just not sure it was particularly good. Beyond the mentioned singles that is. Maybe I'm tired, maybe I wasn't in the mood. It's better than a lot of things I've left as a 3, but I dunno if it's a really a 4. But I might give it a 4 cos lust for life is ace. I dunno.

It sounds so much like a straight up Bowie album. The singles are great, the rest of it is solid.

nothing crazy

Not impressed. There’s some fun riffs, very Bowie-esque which I liked. But everything in between, lyrically, sometimes spoken word, is not it. Solely for The Passenger it gets another star.

I love "Lust for Life" and "The Passenger". Such iconic songs. But the rest is okay-punk. Not my favorite genre, but by no means bad.

Essa capa é muito famosa, veremos o que vem. Achei nada de mais o álbum, passenger famosa, mas acho que é só. É, bem palhinha o álbum, esperava mais. 3* por ser ok.

didn’t know him, i like it

mi padre me mataría por ponerle esta nota pero siento que no me impacta tanto al no haber crecido en esta época. su impacto es innegable pero su replay value...... not as much

not as good as Joni Mitchell’s Blue

6/10 doar cateva piese reascultabile. Cam creepy piesele despre tinere Lust for Life The Passenger Turn Blue

It's not bad but it just wasn't grabbing me

Favorite Tracks: Lust for Life / The Passenger / Success Rating: 2.6 For being the "less" Bowie-influenced Iggy Pop album, there's still plenty of tracks that sound like a late 70's Bowie knock-off. Some good moments, though, I enjoyed both the classics hits, and the rhythm section is rollicking throughout.

Iconic rock sound but definitely reminiscent of the era. You can really hear the direct influence on some of the most successful artists that followed.

I liked turn blue

2.5 - This is not what I expected Iggy Pop to sound like. It's okay.

eh solid

*listened before the project* The Man with the Mysterious Smile. I’d say it’s David bowie’s album.

This album feels like a great representation of art over commercial success. While there were only a few songs I could truly say I liked and would listen too regularly, it is clear how much of his own passion and life Iggy put into this album. The song Turn Blue is a perfect example, because while I found it rough to fully get through, it's obvious how much of his soul he put into it. I wish I could give this album a higher score, but so many of the songs were... rough to get through.

Pretty decent album. Not my favorite message but there are some good songs. The Passenger is definitely my favorite song. Probably wouldn't listen to the whole album again. 6.2/10

Love the tone, but compositionally simple. Fun, upbeat background music.

Pretty neat

I quit like it, it's not super aggressive even tho it's rock

It lost me halfway through. It's definitely good, but I don't think it's anything to write home about. I just found out that Iggy Pop is a person and not a band, so that's cool.

Lust For Life

Okay not my favorite

Can't say I'm a fan of the album cover, but I did really enjoy this. Some really great tracks in there and a couple that show clear future influence on bands like The Strokes. I can't say that the production of this sounds particularly brilliant but I enjoyed it for its raw, unedited feel. Favourites: The Passenger Tonight Neighbourhood Threat Fall In Love With Me

It's a solid rock album but I don't totally see the hype. Catchy tunes to start but after that the only good parts felt like more of the same

choose your fighter lust for life (1977) o lust for life (2017) el sonido es muy distintivo no importa que escuches, la triada del final gran cierre, toca seguir confiando en la ia que da discos

A very average album is carried by 2-3 hits. I doubt I'll revisit this much outside of The Passenger, Tonight, and Lust for Life

Had never heard any Iggy pop or the stooges before. Enjoyed this. Title track and sixteen were high points for me.

Fine, kinda fun

I feel like I should like this more than I do, but Iggy's stuff outside of The Stooges has just never really grabbed me.

3/5 - I prefer Iggy doing the Stooges and Bowie doing Bowie.

It isn’t straight-ahead punk but I see how it got there!

Lust for Life was a good way to start this album off! My other favorite song was The Passenger Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not bad. A few classics

Today I learned that I know Iggy Pop songs. Pretty good album, I liked it.

Obviously 2 great singles but could take or leave several of the others . Could sense that Franz Ferdinand were influenced by this album . Last track lifted it off not a 3 review for me in spite of slightly uncomfortable lyrics .

Not my thing

I was really looking forward to listening to this album, but apart from lust for life and the passenger, I was left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Not that the rest of the album isn’t ok, but I was expecting that the rest of the album would be of the calibre of the aforementioned

Good stuff. I liked this a lot better than The Idiot.

This is so much more enjoyable for me than the Stooges. It does kinda sound like Bowie at points though. Pretty solid record. 7/10

I’ve never really listened to Iggy Pop. I enjoyed this album. Some Weird Sin and the Passenger were my favorites.

Fainuț.

first listen not too bad

Ballsy snarling attitude begging you to kick open the door and strut down to the bar. Occasional glimmers of a Bowieish croon break up the tone and provide some light and shade. Feels classic, lots you recognise from cultural touchstones, but not something I'll put putting into regular rotation, in spite of some epic needle drops.

Meh...another fine but not super interesting album. Also, ended the album on a bad note with that weird, creepy song about a girl who looks older than she is. 5/10

Better than expected!

Blues vibes with david bowie cool beats and controversial lyrics.

Not really my cup of tea, though The Passenger was alright.

i can see why this would be 5 stars for so many people, but it’s not my thing. would still recommend people give a listen !

The first few were great and almost made me want to give it a 4. Tonight and Success were the start of the songs that were meh. Turn Blue was 7 minutes of iggy making random noises. Fall in love with me was boring. But I liked the first 4

Iggy makes fine music that for whatever reason RARELY grips me (Tonight, success and fall in love with me are great). Its cromulent outside of some ‘concepts’ that haven’t aged well.

Do we not all lust of life...

it was fine! i honestly don't remember anything from my listen of it! all i know about iggy pop is that he played yelgrun the vorta in an episode of star trek: deep space nine!

I liked the beginning of the album specifically, of course Lust for Life and The Passenger, but the end of the album was unremarkable with some definitely some cringy lyrics. I got David Bowie vibes while listening, and what do I find out after listening that he collaborated and helped produce the album, so points for that.

Theatrical, like a punky version of Lou Reed. The classics outweigh the deep cuts. To my surprise the end is better than the beggining.

success is probably the best song turn blue has a really awesome guitar line and melody but omg those adlibs are not it. not really a fan of the music but it doesn't sound awful

Sounded generic. Nothing really stood out.

Some hits some misses

I didn’t vibe with it but still good music.

Some great gems like Lust for Life and The Passenger, but the album lost their appeal by the end where the songs just sound the same.

It was okay, nothing crazy, but I appreciate every time I can get to listen to a classic artist or album that I’ve never heard before.

I didn't know this singer. Some good tunes. A good album overall.

Standouts: “Lust for Life” and “Passenger.” “Sixteen” is more than a little problematic.

It's got a good sound but hearing Iggy go on about wanting to bang 16 year olds and young girls doesn't age well.

Never knew, but this is a bowie album with a different voice. Quite enjoyable, but now I almost feel Iggy is somewhat of a fraud.

It says this is a rock/punk album. It doesnt really sound rock or punk to me, but I did like it more than I was expecting. Apparently he is the godfather of punk tho so he knows better than me🤷🏾‍♂️ Sidenote: Researching him was interesting. He was friends with David Bowie and worked on this album with him. He was one of the first people to stage dive. And he got scoliosis and one leg is shorter than the other, which is why he's always doing wierd poses

Possibly one of the greatest opening songs. Epic drum sounds, compelling guitar lines and solid bass driving it all along. Sadly only The Passenger is close to living up to this, and Sixteen drags it all right down. Still, complete banger of an opener.

Mostly enjoyed it musically. Bright, grinding, sleezy rock'n'roll. Half a point up for having The Passenger and Lust for Life on it, but a full point down for all the 'young girl' creepiness.

quintessential 80’s europop

I like this album, the songs are ok but it doesn't make me want to listen to it again. The passenger and lust for life are great songs but overused in media over the years and I think familiarity bred boredom.

It’s a great record, what can I say. Two strong singles do the heavy lifting, with some nice album cuts.

Decent album not amazing or life changing to me though

Boomin' and groovin'. Iggy's voice is so iconic, I could tell just from listening. Lyrics are pretty good; laughed at the end of "Success"! Pop knows how to set a mood with just his voice. I commend him for that. Some tracks, like "Sixteen" and "Turning Blue" suck, though. Docking a star for that. Production was great, and the mood that the songs set was on point. Didn't really move me or change my life. Docking a star.

Прослушала на фоне, песни не пропускала, но и не добавила ни одну в плейлист. Я понимаю, почему его любят, но это не моё

Passengers is doing the heavy lifting in this three star rating

This is a generous 3.

Досить добре

Solid rock record

Very much Lou Reed and David Bowie but not the biggest fan

It was ok.

Ok. its kidna nice at its best and annoying at its worst. I just kinda got the ramblings of a drunk lounge singer

Lust for Life is an iconic record but for me its achievements are overshadowed by the fact that David Bowie penned most of it. For me it has the same sound and feel of Bowie's own Hansa Studio albums...in fact I don't feel we get a true Iggy Pop solo album until 1979's New Values.

Need to listen during summer time. Turn blue was stand out

Point off for ‘sixteen’

Not bad but I don't think I'll be adding it to my regular listens.

Couple good songs, enjoyed the album but wouldn’t rush back to it

93/1001 First listen. Curiously I have no memory of hearing the song Lust for life until I was in my 20’s when it was on the Trainspotting soundtrack. When I found out it was Iggy pop I was startled. He doesn’t make good music I thought. In spite of this and then finding out The passenger was him as well I still didn’t think there was anything more to this guy. Creepy 70’s lyrics aside this was a good pick today. Definitely has the Bowie sound. I did not expect to like this at all. I’m not sure why. Will listen to this again though. 5/10

Iggy is alright.

has some enjoyable songs

3 out of 5 Great music and energy

Two very famous classic songs and a few that I won't remember.

Second Iggy Pop record in a row. Good stuff.

Had Some Classics, but was mid

bangers and mash

Rolling stones + the kinks Really enjoyable album, not my favorite rock album from the 1970s but a great listen, makes me want to listen to more iggy pop and get into his music in 2026.

This was way better and more enjoyable than I expected. Wish I could give an extra half star

Definitely new for me but I did not hate it!

Rating: 7/10 Short Review: Great riffs, would be better if he spent less time talking about how young his girlfriend looks and how he’s in love with a 16 year old. Top 3: Lust for Life, Passengers,

it was not bad , felt like a classic movie tracks

Turn Blue really reminds me of the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack I really enjoyed ‘Tonight’ and ‘Success’- ‘Success’ I thought was really fun and groovy Overall I really likes the album I thought it was very danceable but also lyrically strong, my favourite song was ‘Turn Blue’, I liked that it had a different sound to the rest of the album

Glad it found me I think it’s great

It was a fine album - research into iggy pop shows me some questionable behavior but also sent me down a rabbit hole of groupie behavior from the 70s - fascinating

Solid, if not good. Can't say I'm Iggy's fan, but at least it wasn't boring. Trainspotting song is like an old friend, always happy to hear it.

Best leuk. Wel wat repetitief. Beetje luchtgitaar concert voor Bodi soundtrack voor mij ^^

fine i guess

It was alright. The instrumentals were mildly interesting but I found the vocals to be mostly annoying to listen to. Overall I wouldn't be upset if it randomly came on near me but I wont go out of my way to listen to it again. Would give a 2.5 if I could.

This album now seems less than what I remembered- as these four tracks are what I remember most and are now the highlights. 1. Lust For Life 2. Sixteen 3. The Passenger 4. Neighborhood Threat

best song: tonight worst: sixteen not a huge fan of this style, but i liked the diversity of sound and instruments. did not appreciate how long the songs were… sorry i like short songs!

guay, pero no es el álbum de mi vida. si ha sido super importante e influyente para la música en esa época, genial, pero personalmente no me ha fascinado. está bien tho canción fav según esta primera impresión: some weird sin

Better than I assumed it would be

not my vibe personally but it was still great

Nice album.

Surprisingly enjoyable, catchy rock and roll

Vocals are low

Favourites: 1. Some Weird Sin 2. The Passenger 3. Neighbourhood Threat Least Favourite: Sixteen

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Iggy Pop before this moment in time. I’m indifferent to this to be quite honest.

I'd give it 4 if Iggy pop hadn't included his pedophilia anthem on this album. He was 30 when he wrote this.

It was cool I slept to it

Uh… it’s okay I guess. Is Sixteen supposed to be weird?

i guess it’s cool to be 640 years old 3.5

The passenger is great

Good 3.5

The well-known tracks are the good ones, and the only ones I’d return to. Every song felt much longer than it needed to be or actually was. Turn Blue was especially long and cringeworthy, but everything else was listenable and enjoyable to a point.

Pretty good. You can clearly hear Bowie all through this. Lacks the raw energy of The Stooges, but still a decent listen.

There are some songs I really enjoy on here, mostly the well known ones like Lust for Life and The Passenger. Also the influence that this record continues to have on modern music is absolutely undeniable. That said, I found probably half the tracks to be pretty forgettable with uninspired lyrics. 3/5

Favourite tracks: Lust for Life Success Turn Blue Fall in Love with Me Least Favourite Track: Sixteen

Opener is great. Adopts many 70s stylings as pastiche. Cool drums. Couple catchy songs. But doesn’t do much to anchor me in the album

overall sounds was good, but the vocals were mediocre. horrible album cover

I liked it more than I expected to, can def hear the Bowie influence

Wow. I’ve always loved Lust for Life and The Passenger but I’m not sure if I’ve ever listened to this entire album. Iggy Pop has always been really hit or miss with me. I’m really enjoying some of these songs and some of them are hard to listen to. I’m sure the almost 50 year gap between its release and now is likely part of it.

Quite enjoyable, nothing amazingly mind-blowing, just a good album.

solid, dug the more david bowie-ish stuff more but its a great album regardless

Great!

i enjoyed this much more than i thought i would.

decent3.5/5

Some really intriguing tunes and then some that were a bit too weird for my taste. Overall i enjoyed the experience, but probably would cherry pick a few specific songs for a next listen.

Liked this more than I anticipated but still not something I’d ever really circle back to. Pretty frontloaded, title track and The Passenger the best on here

3.5 really, The Idiot is better.

Stand outs: Some Weird Sin, Tonight and Success. All the instrumentals are brilliant. Love how much Bowie is on this album. Low points: Turn Blue - not a fan of this one at all

Pretty good but not great

I enjoyed the second half of this album much more than the first. I actually didn’t care that much for the two big songs, Lust for Life and Passenger. They kind of feel lifeless compared to the other songs

not my usual music genre but i liked it

Not his best but it does have "The Passenger" on it which is a great song

I know it was a collab with Bowie, but the whole things just reminds me of Bowie, but worse.

A good album, just not for me. I can see how he influenced Lana del rey, but its still too much pedophila for me. The songs feel a bit repetitive if you listen to them back to back, but then again its not my cup of tea.

You can hear Bowie's influence in this album. Definitely a good lusten. Iggy deserves the following and devotion of his fans. This was the first time I've listened to this album all the way through and I must say it's much better than I thought it was going to be.

This has probably my favorite Iggy Pop song, The Passenger, and my least favorite, Sixteen(this song is terrible).

The Passenger is great: lyrics, music, and especially the production. Big +1 for that track. The blues song sounds like a blues song. Big -1 for that one.

Helt ålreit.

Ganske ok, liker et par låter gankse godt og et par er litt kjedelige

classic sound, but nothing that stuck with me

I always think of him as metal, but this album is more blues and jazz. The passenger has been my go-to karaoke song for nearly 20 years because it's the only song I can sing.

Oddly, I went into this expecting to enjoy it but I preferred the earlier Iggy Pop albums it seems.

Good album. List for Life and The Passenger are great, the rest a bit less so

This has some great songs. Awful cover though, looks like it would sound like Cliff Richard. Some real Bowie and Stones sounds.

Recorded with Bowie around the same time as Heroes, many of these songs have the same almost mechanical guitar tones as that album. The first four tracks take these sounds in a garage rock direction, but the energy is too low for anything outside of the drums on the title track to sound all that exciting. On the fifth track the album moves to a more post punk sound, and it produces the album's two best songs in "Tonight" and "Neighborhood Threat." The former sounds like a Bowie song, to the point you wish he was on lead vocals instead of backing. "Turn Blue" apes Lou Reed instead, and its spoken word rambling makes it the album's worst song. Most of the album's lyrics were written at the last minute, and this is often apparent. Caught between punk and pop, this is a nice album with weak enough writing that it pales in comparison to both Heroes and the Stooges.

Bowie being involved is quite obvious again, which makes this more interesting at times. The Passenger sounds like the better version of a song by the doors. The production quality seems flat or a bit over compressed. Might be a mood, but this didn't do it for me.

My first foray with Iggy! Turn Blue is a great track. Thought the rest was solid, less punk than I expected.

I thought I'd enjoy this album a bit more, so perhaps my expectations were a bit higher. It's not a bad album, but apart from Lust For Life and The Passanger, the other songs were just okay, and they had a bit like Stones/bluesy rather than experimental or anything more captivating. Perhaps I need more relistens. 3 stars now.

Was alright

Ok. Not for me. 3 stars. I also don’t love David Bowie.

Iggy Pop’s Lust for Life is a lively, swagger-filled record that still holds a certain charm decades after its release, but it’s not without its shortcomings. The album bursts out of the gate with its iconic title track—an undeniably infectious rhythm and one of Pop’s most recognizable vocal performances. It sets a high bar, though, that the rest of the album doesn’t always match. Tracks like “The Passenger” showcase Pop at his most compelling: cool, detached, and effortlessly memorable. Songs such as “Some Weird Sin” also highlight the strong chemistry between Iggy and David Bowie, whose influence shapes much of the album’s energy. But several cuts feel less inspired, drifting into repetitive riffs or lyrical ideas that don’t fully take off. The album’s raw production, while part of its identity, occasionally works against it, making some moments feel thinner or more rushed than they should. Overall, Lust for Life is a solid record with standout highs, but its inconsistency holds it back from being a start-to-finish classic. It’s energetic, influential, and at times brilliant—just not flawless.

Not bad at all.

Great, dark, but hopeful tracks. You can really still hear Bowie’s influence even though Iggy was trying to make his own mark. Passenger and Lust for Life are the highlights for me, and loved the mood in general, but the whole thing didn’t quite come together. Probably a 3.5.

Under normal circumstances, I would’ve given this album a 2, but it has The Passenger, so into the 3 pile it goes

From a songwriting perspective, this album is hella fun. The highlights are incredibly catchy. It's no surprise that Bowie did some production work on it! But why, oh why, must the audio quality be so bad?! We saw this with Raw Power as well, and I just don't understand the appeal -- such incredible talent and instrumentation, and then they go and mix it all to sound like a crunchy JPEG. It's baffling to me. Standouts: Lust For Life • Tonight • Success • Fall In Love With Me

Very solid. It reminds me of the best stuff by The Velvet Underground but somehow it has less sauce. Not exactly sure what this is missing to elevate it for me, but it's still super enjoyable.

Liked it more than I thought I would but "Turn Blue" made me wish I didn't have ears

I feel like Iggy Pop really encapsulates a certain vibe stylistically that doesn’t exist in the world today. so it’s cool to be able to step back and live in that world for a little while

Must say I don’t quite understand rye fascination with Iggy Pop, this being the second album of his we encounter on this list. I mostly knew him as the guy who still doesn’t wear a shirt when he performs, but now I understand he also wrote ‘The Passenger’. A descent song for sure, but nothing that warrants putting the whole album on the list. ’Neighbourhood Threat’ was also pretty cool, otherwise I didn’t find much for me on the album. Pretty generic rock, and considering it came out ’77 it can hardly count as that innovative? Maybe I’m just out of touch, don’t know.

Um disco razoável, impregnado pela marca sonora de David Bowie. As faixas mais inclinadas ao pop são mais interessantes dos que as puramente rock'n'roll.

Much better then his stooges stuff

To be honest my only exposure to Iggy Pops music until today had been the opening scene from Trainspotting, and passenger and maybe a couple of other tracks being in the cultural ether, but I had never listened to an album. This record is brimming with energy. A nihilistic sneer delivers every line. Without the vocal delivery this could become generic rock n roll, but Iggy Pops distinctive vocal style raises the tracks up and gives them individuality. It’s easy to hear the influence he has had on music, and it’s a good listen, not a life changer for me, but good stuff.

Fun album, not that consistent tbh. The two singles are great, the rest is kind of average. Great production, though.
