Reviews (page 8 of 13)

I've never been much of a punk fan. I find a lot of it repetitive - musically, lyrically, thematically. I'm probably ignorant. Most of this record sounds like a good ol' R&R album. The Passenger is a really catchy tune. Iggy's singing is perhaps the weakest link, but it's filled with emotion and overall fun, groovy, catchy. Def can see Bowie's influence all over, as well as The Stones. Not bad at all. 8/10

The combination of Iggy's vocals and the musical tone is great. Really enjoyed the album.

Lust for Life will always be a favorite song. Brings me back to my high school days of skating around town.

Really good, more going on than I initially expected.

Never actually listened to this one before. I really enjoyed it.

Obviously it was going to be great with Mr B involved.

Iggy, thank you for saving me from the streak of dud records I've been getting on here. This is a great record. It's not the Stooges, but having Bowie help you out isn't a bad way to continue your career. A classic.

pretty good! i was kind of expecting to start off with something that wouldn't interest me at all, but some of the songs in here are genuinely songs i might listen to again (especially neighborhood watch). i was kind of ehhh about success but it might just take another listen. solid start! also idk if anyone can see these but yea i'm not actually good at writing about music lol

Essencial na forma de mostrar o rock pronto.

Una leyenda del Rock, Cuatro estrellas generoso, serian 3,5. "the passager" la canción mas destacada,

Last, Passenger

A very good album. This album was produced by David Bowie, which is pretty cool. Light genre research tells me that this album is proto-punk, and you can definitely hear some early punk sounds in here, along with just generally really great 70s rock. I haven't really heard Iggy Pop before this, but I can definitely see now why he's so influential and well regarded amongst actual musicians. I'll have to admit, however, that I wasn't as crazy about the closing track as I was with the rest of the album. Eight out of nine is still pretty good though, especially when those earlier tracks are as good as they are.

Great album. I didn't like Turn Blue, way too weird, but the rest I really enjoyed.

Some bangers on here, no doubt. Minus 1 star for the creep factor of "Sixteen" tho. Fave track - "The Passenger" is one of my all time fave tracks by anyone - I even like the Terrorvision cover of it.

Iggy Pop is always a win for me, would happily listen to the album again, even if not every track was a banger. Though I did listen to this album whilst pissed out my skull, so that may have contributed to it's success.

Hoe rude of Iggy to be so chipper on what is clearly a pretty hungover day. Though, to be fair, the start of this album got me feeling energized again. There's a reason the passenger is such a classic, what a banger. The album was a steady downhill for me, starting off at a 5 and finishing at a 3, so I'll give it the nice and average 4.

Great album, love Bowie’s influences

Rolling Stones but wittier

Enjoyed it!

Pretty great album. I can definitely see why it’s on the list.

mycket trevlig! förvånansvärt dansvänlig och det kan man ju ej säga nej till. och the passenger!! otrolig låt pluspoäng bara där

Bra!!!

I knew some songs, overall nice

Veel gedraaid dit plaatje, helemaal goed!

Berlin-era David Bowie teaming up again with Iggy Pop, this time, with Iggy Pop taking the lead. Opens with the iconic drums and bass of the title track. Subverts poppy chords on Passenger. Would give 4.5

Норм панк но надоедает

Fittingly for a record that ends with a pleading “Fall in love with me”, it took 20 years for the world to cotton on to Lust for Life. I’m not proud to admit that I hadn’t, until today, realised the titular song was released in 1977 and not something that had always been attached to the cultural ascendancy of Trainspotting. (I was mesmerised then by Pop’s biltong-in-a-blender act in the rerelease video; 25 years on I think slightly more admiringly about his obviously well maintained physique.) Bowie’s obviously all over this record, but I’m reminded just as often of Lou Reed throughout – as if he and Pop both budded from the same acerbic, brackish persona cultivar of William S Burroughs’, the same one that seemed to offer refuge to America’s most outré artists well into the nineties (and that maybe, during a burnout, finally faded away). Alongside the irrepressible pugilism of “Lust for Life” and itinerant jangle of “Passenger” – which I’d thought for a while was cowritten with Lou Reed; do I know anything about Iggy Pop? – there’s a smattering of excellent post-punk (proto-post-punk?) tunes on this record. “Neighbourhood Threat” stands out most sharply, though, and for completely different and altogether more hrmmmm reasons “Sixteen” also demands attention. I once walked around a room of photographs of Iggy Pop and his pet parrot in Paris’ Palais de Tokyo. It was an exhibition curated by Michel Houellebecq, who had clearly enjoyed the opportunity to create an autobiographical mise en douche. The room was brightly lit and gleaming, pictures of both Pop and Houellebecq and their respective companion animals festooning, scrapbook style, every surface (included the floor). That space stood in complete contrast to the grey and earthy brown tones of the rest of the exhibition – which included a 3m square room-within-a-room to smoke inside – and felt, of course, extremely sarcastic. Lust for Life contains both Pops: the man who wants to be your dog and the man with friends who really want you to meet theirs. A record that feels like it fell out of time, no matter when you found it.

Not my favorite Iggy Pop project but still a good album. Hearing Bowie play on here is cool as well. Favorite tracks: "The Passenger", "Success"

I knew Iggy was good friends with David Bowie, but I had no idea how closely they collaborated on Iggy's work. You can hear a lot of Bowie on this, yet it still ultimately sounds like Iggy. Great album. 4 stars.

mint! probably warrants more listens, i like his vocals. last song is the strokes lol

Liked it

One of the originators of punk proves he can work solo too. With the help of David Bowie, Iggy knocks it out of the park here.

This is a fine album with a couple of iconic songs...Lust for Life and The Passenger and some fine songs to fill it out; Success, Some Weird Sin, Neighborhood Threat and Tonight rock hard and help me to imagine the glory days of The Stooges, but with better licks. But that title tune I just never tire of; from the Lou Reed style sado-masochistic lyric to the incredible drumming. Just about damn perfect. No, the rest of the album doesn't quite approach it but damn it often comes close. Case in Point the stinging guitar and driving rhythm section of closer Fall In Love With Me. 4.5 stars

Preety great and fun rock record. As a fan of David Bowie's work from this era, I really dug this album.

It's obviously got 2 absolute classics on (Passengers & Lust for Life) but loved hearing tracks i'm not so familiar with (Fall in love with me is a great track). What a star - what a unique voice

I didn't know Pop and Bowie worked together, but it really shows. Really enjoyed this one more than expected.

A fun album with several well known songs.

This might be the prime spot for Iggy Pop. You can hear Bowie being the producer but still a bit of rawness left over from The Stooges

Incredible Bowie collaboration.

This is a good listen. 4

Iggy Pop, hold the Stooges. An interesting place to start in Iggy's catalog, as this is well after the punk origins and the apparent Bowie oversight. Some very strong songs on here, especially "The Passenger," which I know I've heard in a movie or two (seems very Wes Anderson). I'm glad to read this was Iggy weaning himself from Bowie's influence because I've yet to really understand the Bowie hype like that and certainly don't need a copycat. This was a solid album, but didn't exactly wow me. I'll hold that thought until we get some Stooges albums. Favorite tracks: The Passenger, Neighborhood Threat, Fall in Love with Me, Lust for Life. Album art: Absolutely terrible portrait cover. So lame that I would never have otherwise listened to this. Whoever greenlit this for release should be ashamed of themselves. It's like a fifth grade yearbook picture, if a fifth grader was held back for thirty years. His mom must've said "aww, you look so handsome!" and he rolled with it. Tragic. 4/5

I'll lead off by commenting that this is one of the more intriguing album covers I've come across. It's so simple, and based on the story I read on wikipedia, is well-meaning - it's meant to reflect the more positive tone of the album compared to Pop's previous albums. And yet, I can't shake this feeling that there's a certain mysterious ambiguity to his smile. Fortunately, the music itself is nowhere near as cryptic - the title track 'Lust for Life' is one that I've heard numerous times before in various movie soundtracks, and it's a terrific introduction to this worthwhile album. 'Lust for Life' and 'The Passenger' are the two well-known tracks on the album (for good reason, they're excellent songs), but there's plenty to enjoy here - 'Some Weird Sin', 'Success', the surprising blues-y nature of the aptly named 'Turn Blue', or the album closer 'Fall In Love with Me'.

Another good album by iiggy

I've been missing out not listening to Iggy Pop

Piaciuto nel complesso. Nello specifico però pochi pezzi di spicco. Non ho avuto tempo però di leggere i testi e riascoltare con attenzione

I actually really enjoyed some of these songs. The passenger and Lust for Life.

listened its aight

Fun and upbeat

A great album with a fantastic cover, but I preferred The Idiot.

Good album, a high 3 pushed to a 4. Starts off very strong but second half is nowhere near as good. Will definitely listen again and had listened to most of the songs previously. Great road trip album especially considering the story of how and when it was made.

I was very surprised that this was 77 and was way better than I had expected. Everyone's heard passenger a million times but it has not lost its impact on me. The song "lust for life" - I honestly thought that was late eighties / early nineties. I would rate this a 3.5 but am rounding up because I WILL be playing it again.

I had fun with this one! High energy, weird art work and as a first plunge into iggy pop’s discography it felt like a solid start.

No one expects that disco jam halfway through the album.

Classic art-rock produced by Bowie and super similar to his output at the time but with the madman that is Iggy on vox. A bit more tame than his work with the Stooges but great in its own right.

Il disco contiene dei pezzi iconici ma anche gli altri sono mediamente coinvolgenti. La musica è semplice ma di effetto.

Another classic that I only heard about here and there. Has a very classic punk vibe, and I loved Bowie on here. A lot of songs that I heard in my childhood here, stuff like "Lust For Life" and "The Passenger". Overall, not my favourite album, or one that I will go back to, but still good in it's own way (it's just not for me really)

Clasicazo e imposible no notar la presencia de Bowie en el disco. Música perfecta para empezar el día.

I’ve got this one. Turn Blue is my favourite. Not as good as The Idiot.

Enjoyed this much more than The Idiot

Un disco muy divertido, me puso de buenas y “Success” es mi nuevo mantra

Catchy songs, enjoyed it.

A great surprise, funny and rocking. Love it.

So everyone knows the title track and Passenger but there’s some cracking tracks on this album - Success and sixteen spring to mind - brilliant

i'm a sucker for bowie's berlin years

I saw Iggy live in mid 80s and again in the mid 90s. He did not look at all like the brother on the cover of Lust for Life. I guess I have to believe it’s his picture but if it is, the decade after releasing this album were hard years. This album is very good. Seeing Izzy  live was easily a  “5” both times but  I don’t think I have a 5 for his studio albums.

awesome - but I like the craziness of Metallic KO as well. such a great cover...ironic or not.

Classic record. It is good to be reminded of these landmark records in order to go back and refresh my memory.

Good album

Brought back memories

Iggy siempre me ha parecido muy irregular en solitario, este es de sus mejores discos pero siempre inferior a los Stooges

Only heard the singles from this album before. Good album

Awesome start to finish

I have listened to this one a few times, and it is good. Would listen a few more times.

Of course, I could listen to Passenger all day long. Iggy has a great rock n' roll/punk voice - very distinctive. This sounds a bit like a garage-y Bowie album, as it should since he wrote or co-wrote most of the songs. Interestingly the only one he or Iggy didn't write was Passenger.

Tiene dos temazos que me encantan. Me ha gustado más de lo que esperaba.

Success and the passenger are very good.

Ya el segundo de Iggy Pop que sale acá, me gusta mucho la portada y sentí que el gesto de Iggy define bien el tono de todo el álbum. Todo muy upbeat, su voz me gusta mucho y todo que es tan enérgico. "Sixteen", "Some Weird Sin" y "Fall In Love With Me" me gustaron mucho. 9/10

The Passenger and Turn Blue were my favorites.

Short and lovely

Hands Down, Iggy Pop einfach Geil. Passenger geht immer.

Evokes Trainspotting. Had no idea the songs I knew were from the 70s. Quite boppy.

Good album. Slightly prefer "The Idiot." 7-8/10

Iggy’s first 2 albums have Bowie fingerprints all over it - you have to listen closely on some tracks but you can hear Bowie. He’s out in front on others like sweet sixteen - those dudes were partying their asses off and living in Berlin

Album starts with a bang with "Lust for Life." Can it live up? Ooo, The Passenger, such a great song too. "Success" is great too. There's a playfulness and positivity to this music that I really appreciate. Good album!

It’s very good. Very much a “Bowie” album. Some of the middle is not up to the same caliber as the classic songs on this record.

This was quite good. Another find, I'd say.

Starting off with a classic!

So bad ass. I had listened to Iggy Pop before, but wow are they the essence of cool.

I know of The Passenger, which I like. Sixteen is gross, obviously. I didn't know Bowie sang at all on this too (Tonight), I know this was the Berlin-trilogy time where they worked closely together. You can hear the Bowie touches a bunch of times. I generally like it, 3.5 but can't decide between 3 or 4. I will round up to 4 but I could go either way.

Very good.

Besser als das andere Album

Good solid album with lots of classic songs

A few great songs and some meh.

Great album.

I really feel an influence from The Beach Boys/early Southern California rock. But I also hear the beginnings of the pop punk era. Well done and some classics. Although I can do without ‘turn blue’ lol

Throughly enjoyed it! First half is strongest by far.

Good one

The best Iggy Pop album. Punky, groovy, everything you could want. Best track: The Passenger

Great album, punky, but not too much, lot's to like

The man the myth the legend in his golden era. Clear Bowie influence here!!

Was this the one Ian Curtis played when he killed himself? *Googles* Oh no, it was The Idiot. Shall i remove all this then? No! This is still a great record, though.

Singles by far and away the best tracks on the album.

I thought I was tripping by noticing Bowie's style all over the album lol. It's fine, but not really outstanding imo.

Some obviously classic tracks but I think I prefer the rawness of his earlier stuff with the stooges.

I liked this soooo much better than The Stooges album (one of the worst). These songs are actually a great mix of pop and rock in a fun way and I feel the Bowie influence. Iggy Pop's voice doesn't do anything for me but this is still a fun listen overall. Top Songs: Lust For Life, The Passenger, Tonight, Success

More like Lust for Children. Gross. The bummer is this is a really good album outside of that song. But that’s probably because of David Bowie’s heavy influence. I don’t fucking know all I know is I can’t think of Iggy Pop without getting deeply uncomfortable

Only knew two of these before. The Bowie influence shows through. A few missteps (Sixteen? Really?).

not really my style but enjoyable

I remember liking this album a little more four or five years ago. It’s still solid; Lust for Life and The Passenger will still sound fresh in another 50 years and I’ve always been a fan of Fall in Love With Me. But at the end of the day, it’s a sleazy rock album and I mean that as both a compliment and a criticism.

Despite containing two all-time crossover classics in Lust for Life & The Passenger, this album is a lot weaker than The Idiot. That said, it's essentially another go at Bowie ventriloquizing Iggy Pop so it is still pretty good. Outside of the album's two major tracks, I've become particularly fond of Tonight (later repurposed for Bowie himself), Neighborhood Threat, and the closing track Fall in Love With Me. I've always thought of this as the sort of light-side daytime counterpart to The Idiot's Berlin Nights vibe. It's good but I'm more of a night person.

Pretty good album. I knew a couple of the songs already, and enjoyed the rest. Didn't blow my mind, but had a good time.

This was a lot stronger than the other Iggy Pop album on this list IMO; I was unsurprised to see that David Bowie had helped with the songwriting/arrangements.

1 - 4/10 not really my taste, relatively boring 2 - 8/10 the guitar is great 3 - 6/10 4 - 8/10 a classic, however it drags a bit 5 - 7/10 reminds me of bowie 6 - 8/10 7 - 5/10 kind of bluesy, he sounds like a dying cat however 8 - 6/10 like the guitar 9 - 8/10 has country vibes

not my style

Pre Listen: I reckon this is the Iggy that dog from Jojo is named after. That's about as far as my knowledge goes in relation to him. No expectations! Notable Tracks: The Passenger - I think I know this one. Sounds crazy familiar. Seems to be the most popular on the album by plays/views too. I wonder where/when/if I heard it? Turn Blue - Somehow both my favorite and least favorite song on the album? Has really great moments and an overall good sound, but also some deep lows when Iggy decides to start yelling like a fool. Post Listen: This guy's voice could easily pass as David Bowie's. I wonder how he felt about the guy. Solid music overall, the lyrics, vocals and instrumentation was all well done. It just wasn't very memorable in any way I could really find. Sounds like default rock and roll. I'd struggle to really place it in a specific rock-adjacent genre even. I'm struggling to even recall any other specific songs than the ones I mentioned, despite having just finished the album like an hour and a half ago. It's like a plain bagel with some good jam and cream cheese; it's a good meal and you like it, but you'll almost certainly will forget having ate it in 2 days or less. 3/5

Can definitely hear the influence this album has had on other rock artists. A thirty year old writing a love song to a sixteen year old is creepy.

I like the themes of addiction and loving life to your fullest while in recovery. I like the sort of grungey rock sound. I was jamming until he started singing about a 16 yeah old 🫩

this album cover is really unnerving. The music is fine. it's got a Bowie, Stones feel to it. I literally thought "Lust for Life" was a Rolling Stones song my entire life. What car was this in the ad for? what a sell-out. oop, my bad- it was for a cruise ship commercial.

The two most popular songs in the album are used in almost every commercial ever. That was fun to learn

A classic.

Great song, then lots of pretty good songs

Definitely a 3.5 but unfortunately some albums must fall victim to the 1001albumsgenerator 5 star system

Quite good. really liked the longer tracks and didn't hate anything except the obligatory creepy old punk guy song Sixteen, of course

Early punk from Iggy, I knew the hits, the rest kind of is into the same vein.

драйвово, не могу сказать, что мое, но развеселил, под ситуацию

not my style at the moment... but i know it has potential to other contexts of my life

Perfectly okay. I don’t dislike, don't really like either. Fine to listen, I like the album title. He’s in a very unique niche of this era. Kind of leads up to that 80s poppy sound. Not my favorite, not a hater either.

I've heard the singles too many times, especially Lust for Life, but as an album it's decent. At times plays as a bonus Bowie album.

Isn't something I would usually pick to listen to but i enjoyed it

Ginger me bum it’s piggy pops

I liked it more than expected. Still not something crazy. Favorite track(s) The Passenger

Lust for Life is the sound of Iggy Pop rediscovering the thrill of being alive. After the bleak, skeletal atmosphere of The Idiot, this record bursts open with swagger, color, and reckless energy. The title track is pure adrenaline, but the album isn't just a collection of punk anthems—it veers into strange, soulful, and even reflective territory without losing its edge. David Bowie's fingerprints are all over the production, yet Iggy never feels overshadowed. His voice is equal parts sneer, grin, and battle scar. It's messy in places, but that's part of its charm. Lust for Life has personality to spare: loud, unpredictable, and impossible to mistake for anyone else. It feels less like a polished statement and more like spending forty minutes with the coolest, most chaotic person at the party.

Probably great to see live Very of its time, Bowie does it better The Passenger is a banger Didn’t really make me feel anything, decent songs though

Most of this album was bad. And then you get songs like Passenger and Lust For Life. It’s hard to rate one like this.

Energetic with some good hits. 3/5

7/10 Very digestible Probably better after a second listen Prefered the second half of the album, reminds me of Bowie

en algún momento me cansaré de poner 3 estrellas? Creo que no

esse tal de Iggy Pop é bem pop

Reminds me of the strokes, and David Bowie combined. Nothing particularly stood out. It was a good listen and really just a good classic rock album. Of course, my music knowledge is relative— as I was born later I’ve experienced anything this project may have inspired I.e. the strokes and such. Nonetheless, some interesting tracks, and nice riffs.

Iggy slop

Iggy looks so young! Solid power pop. 3.5

Only had time today to listen to first 4 tracks. But it fairly well rocks and bounces along. Lust for Life and Passenger the obvious hits. Didn't get to find out whether, after a few more tracks, it starts to get all a bit samey (was starting to sense that it might). Will give it the benefit of the doubt.

Good Album - I have heard his songs in the past, just not a full album. Solid 3 stars - may listen again.

A great album, really enjoyed listening to it. Couple of absolute monsters on it for sure! It’s not the greatest album of all time but it’s certainly good enough for me.

Classic rebellious teen. Has lot of highs and lows.

a super fun hang back in the Bowie Cinematic Universe.

I mean, didn’t love it didn’t hate it. Glad i know it now

- it’s like mick jagger and David Bowie had a baby

Bowie produced Iggy Pop. Not really an Iggy fan overall, but this was enjoyable enough. Very much of its era in production. 70s NY vibe. Lyrics didn't agree well. Probably won't be reaching for this again in particular, but it wasn't bad. 3 Star

Would not buy

Hiya dog face! 3.49 étoiles

I liked the sound of this one, kept me interested and engaged throughout.

It feels very 70s. Sexy and unapologetic. Cool but not cliche or overdone. A really good 40 minutes representing its time in a very chic manner.

7/10 fav song: fall in love with me

Enjoyed it less as it went on. Not sure I was in the mood for this particular vibe, just not as good as work Bowie has produced for himself in my opinion. Some tunes at the start tho so I’m giving a generous 3

First side is mostly solid rock, side 2 peters out tho with two overlong songs. Could've been better, could've been worse. Highlights-Lust for Life, Some Weird Sin, The Passenger, and Success.

Y mañana? Otro de Elvis Costello?

Didn't realise how Bowie influenced this was. A far cry from the Stooges

I like the drums of the song because it feels funky with the lyrics (Not really) but I like how. It talks about a war because it's like you're in the war making music. Even though you're not making music in this song, I like how if you probably heard this song for the first time. You would maybe turn up the music on this song and I would recommend it because of the vibe it has during the song.

I think this album is pretty good. I like the instruments used and I also like how it sounded. I would give this 3.7 stars if I could but I'll just give it 3.

You can really feel the David Bowie on this album, but even worse is when you can feel the absence of Bowie and you get a lecherous song about sixteen year olds. It’s an okay listen otherwise, but I don’t know if it’s one I would personally come back to.

This is a fun album. I've heard a few of the songs before, but it was good to hear the rest. Clearly I had already heard the best songs however, I did enjoy the others, but they are not quite up to the same quality as the others. Others. Therefore this gets three stars instead of four

Very strange highs and lows on this one.

A very solid album, not my favorite of Oggy's work but it does have some solid tracks.

For what and when this came out it's surprisingly fun to listen to.

Enjoyed that

Honestly pretty fun and poppy but I think this is the type of rock that has a ceiling for how much I’ll enjoy it.

Good Had only heard passenger and lust for life, but the rest of holds up as very good 70s punk. Couple of iffy moments, the sweet 16 ones a bit noncey (Bowie was involved obviously) but besides that a very good record. Favourite track: Passenger

Not especially my genre but this was OK.

Bowie-esque at times but otherwise a bit dull and whiney for me

Me listening to track 1: 😀😀😀😀😀 Me as soon as track 2 started: 🤨🤨🤨🫠🫠🫠🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

I didn’t have high expectations for this album. I listened to the preview and thought, “Okay, I’ll give it a listen, but I probably won’t like any of the songs.” But these tracks had a really nice rhythm, and somehow they lifted my mood a little. My favorite was “Turn Blue.” There was something about the sound of that song that really resonated with me, and it made me want to keep humming it on repeat.

It’s really solid! It definitely is a product of its time but there are timeless moments on it. I will say, it is HEAVILY produced and centered by David Bowie. Songs like “Tonight” and “Success” sound more like Bowie than Iggy entirely. Overall a good album but not one I’ll return to often.

My second Iggy Pop. Good, but not really for me- can't seem to get into his style. Decent enough though

Its ok, all the songs are super simple and they all sound similar. Not into this one a lot. I prefered te stuff he did with the stooge.

The famous songs are great but the rest of it isn't that remarkable.

Good album, "Fall in Love With Me" was my favorite. But I prefer older Iggy Pop.

A couple of fun familiar songs, but never really got into the full album

Very very difficult assessment. Some great songs on here but "Turn Blue" made me so incredibly unhappy, and that turned to anger at how a large chunk of this album is terrible and maybe even objectionable. Really hard one to rate as I would certainly never listen to this whole record ever again, but on the whole I finished it feeling like Iggy was maybe about as talented as I had thought he was. Not terrible, but not some secret genius either.

Nice, didn't say much but was very nice rock-y

Lost for words idk what this was but sure why not

good job, david bowie.

308/1089 should’ve been Lana Del Rey’s Lust for Life… jk this’ll be interesting The Passenger sounds SO familiar, didn’t know that was Iggy Pop though this album was decent, he’s obviously got good charisma and i enjoyed listening faves: The Passenger, Fall In Love With Me 64/100

Awesome platter.

Don't love the lyrics, the music sounds good but it makes sense that a lot of it is probably Bowie. Honestly would rather listen to a Bowie album but nothing is wrong with this one. Would rate this a 2.5 if I had half stars but round up to 3 for Bowie's presence.

Doesn’t have the raw power of a stooges album. Some decent tracks

Always wondered what all the fuss was about and still not entirely sure tbh...

Decent

-Day 2- === 3,5 === 1. Lust For Life 3/5 I like it. I mean, it's not a song I would listen to all the time, but it's not mid either. (3/5 means 6/10. 5 is average, 6 is above average, so it’s good.) 2. Sixteen 1/5 Creepy song. Musically, it’s kind of good, but I definitely wouldn’t listen to it because of the lyrics. 3. Some Weird Sin 3.5/5 Groovy bassline. I like the distorted vocals. Also nice guitar tone. 4. The Passenger 2.5/5 This one is okay. Nothing special about it. Maybe it'll grow on me (I usually don’t like songs on first listen). 5. Tonight 4/5 Great song. I can hear Bowie's backing vocals. This one is less energetic than the others, and that makes sense as it’s the last track on Side A. 6. Success 4/5 Fun song. I like it. 7. Turn Blue 4/5 8. Neighborhood Threat 4/5 This one is so 90s. I don’t know how to explain it. 9. Fall In Love With Me 3.5/5

Hea energia, aga tundub, nagu see plaat oleks olnud hea 60ndate ja mitte 70ndate lõpus (eriti kui samal ajal eksisteeris nt Led Zeppelin). Esimest korda elus on wurlitzer mind tõsiselt häirima hakanud. Plaadil on kaks suuremat lugu ("Lust For Life" ja "The Passenger") ning ülejäänud on võibolla sellised lood, mida on huvitav laivis näha, aga mitte niisama Spotifyst kuulata. 2.9/5

she lust for my life till i pop

Definitely some bangers. But not every song needs to be 6 and a half minutes long

I thought I would like this more since I'm a fan of the Stooges. It ended up just sounding like watered down Bowie, which makes sense since Bowie wrote for and played on this album. Not bad but didn't grab me.

I like the vibe of the album, but it's not something I would listen to often. I appreciate the variety of different styles in it. Its very refreshing compared to some of todays music.

Really just straigiht down the middle - Passenger is a good song I guess but nothing memorable about this album besides that for me.

For how popular some of the songs seemed I thought I'd either recognize them or they'd stick with me, but nothing stuck out to me. It was a fine album, but nothing crazy and I wouldn't listen to it again.

What an unusual voice. Such a character. Fun listen . . . once

it's decent, "sixteen" feels very creepy though and there's only two songs i thoroughly enjoyed. i'd give a 3.5

As a huge fan of The Stooges, it's always nice to think of Iggy reviving his career, and the highlights of Lust for Life and The Passenger are iconic songs, but the rest of the album doesn't quite hold up. Sixteen is just a bit creepy with modern ears, and there are multiple points where Bowie's influence is...let's say 'strong'. Probably balances out to a 3 overall.

Much like his friend, David Bowie, I just don't enjoy Iggy Pop all that much. His voice is pretty terrible and the lyrics sound like they were written by a twelve year old (which would make "Sixteen" almost forgivable.) I've heard this album several times before, but this time I listened on headphones and discovered some subtleties in the production that I had missed before. Once I was able to nearly ignore Iggy's voice, I found some interesting music trapped behind the frontman. That music gets the stars, not Mr. Pop.

Some interesting stuff, didn’t get the chance to listen properly though more than once though so will have to come back Passenger is a tune though

5/10 Best songs: Neighborhood Threat, Fall In Love With Me Some pretty good songs, good beats, and generally good vibes. The issues: Sixteen did NOT age well (like, in the problematic "you should be looking for someone your age" kind of way), and Turn Blue is so godawful that it basically makes me want to give the album 1 star. I'll settle for a 3.

Ni fu ni fa

kinda like if mick jagger was getting an amputation without anesthesia

interesante sonido y me gustaron un par. le di like a some weird sin. Le pondría 3.5

Not that bad

Never a fan of Iggy. Tried again, still not a massive fan. But appreciate the raw, puck attitude of this rock icon.

"La la la la la la la la" 3/5 yo creo

Got a beach boys vibe to it I’m fw it!

ja, war gut. is jetz nix wirklich hängen blieben aber war ganz gut i guess.. gegen ende hats ma immer besser gfallen dann

After listening to Iggy and the Stooges I was not excited about this one. However Lust for Life and The Passenger were surprisingly good. Still not quite enough to rate a 4.

enjoyable actually

boring

Lägre lägstanivå än vad man önskat sig

Kul och The Passenger är verkligen toppen, men inte så mycket som stack ut utöver den.

I find this album enjoyable.. To be honest it didn't amaze me but I didn't hate it either 3/5

Solid enough but didn’t stand out

This was pretty good. Better than I was expecting (two massive songs and the rest, filler)

Standouts Lust For Life

It's Iggy and Bowie, so comparing to their other works, "Good, not Great." But, that's a higher bar to set than for most. It's worth it. A great listen. But, not the first album I would grab from either of them if I were in the mood to listen to one of them.

I feel like I got this album recently? Trainspotting song. Hmm The Passenger sounds familiar too.

Sólo por The Passenger le doy algo mas. Siento que no me produce mucho. Nota: 3.2

Who hasn't had it in the ear before?

Messy in a good way.

Fine. Just fine. Not remarkable at all. I think I'm not a big fan of Iggy Pop. I don't really get it.

This was just fine. None of the songs were particularly memorable but I didn't dislike any of them

Me gustó, pero no es tanto mi onda. Aún así me interesó esa música de los 80. El mejor, "Tonight".

Im not really used to listening to protopunk and garage rock. This album was a pleasently surprise, even though it probably will not stick with me.

Best Song: Passenger

The title track and The Passenger never get old, but the rest of this is pretty hit and miss imo. Success and Some Weird Sin are other highlights. Lowlights include pedophilia, which (should go without saying) isn't ok - even if you are a heroin addict.

6/10… glam rock / proto punk / *1977

idk. it’s cool i guess lol

hmm it’s an alright album, very pop… haha get it Iggy Pop. most of the songs were good, i liked the song passengers. yea i’d rate this like a 6/10.

Honestly? I listened a few times but take the Passenger off this and I can't say I really want to listen again. The title track is iconic and relatively unparalleled for the time, but the rest of the album reminded me of bits of Bowie that I don't enjoy that much, but with slightly less enjoyable vocals. I love the Stooges and some of Iggy'y stuff, but... yeah. And Sixteen... no.

i liked this enough but also think i’m never gonna listen to it again

Hmmm, I had high hopes for this. I like Iggy pop, I love his stooges stuff. I enjoy him live. I really like lust for life and the passenger, but this album as a whole didn't really do it for me in the way I hoped. It was quite fun, I'm just not sure it was particularly good. Beyond the mentioned singles that is. Maybe I'm tired, maybe I wasn't in the mood. It's better than a lot of things I've left as a 3, but I dunno if it's a really a 4. But I might give it a 4 cos lust for life is ace. I dunno.

It sounds so much like a straight up Bowie album. The singles are great, the rest of it is solid.

nothing crazy

Not impressed. There’s some fun riffs, very Bowie-esque which I liked. But everything in between, lyrically, sometimes spoken word, is not it. Solely for The Passenger it gets another star.

I love "Lust for Life" and "The Passenger". Such iconic songs. But the rest is okay-punk. Not my favorite genre, but by no means bad.

Essa capa é muito famosa, veremos o que vem. Achei nada de mais o álbum, passenger famosa, mas acho que é só. É, bem palhinha o álbum, esperava mais. 3* por ser ok.

didn’t know him, i like it

mi padre me mataría por ponerle esta nota pero siento que no me impacta tanto al no haber crecido en esta época. su impacto es innegable pero su replay value...... not as much

not as good as Joni Mitchell’s Blue

6/10 doar cateva piese reascultabile. Cam creepy piesele despre tinere Lust for Life The Passenger Turn Blue

It's not bad but it just wasn't grabbing me

Favorite Tracks: Lust for Life / The Passenger / Success Rating: 2.6 For being the "less" Bowie-influenced Iggy Pop album, there's still plenty of tracks that sound like a late 70's Bowie knock-off. Some good moments, though, I enjoyed both the classics hits, and the rhythm section is rollicking throughout.

Iconic rock sound but definitely reminiscent of the era. You can really hear the direct influence on some of the most successful artists that followed.

I liked turn blue

2.5 - This is not what I expected Iggy Pop to sound like. It's okay.

eh solid

*listened before the project* The Man with the Mysterious Smile. I’d say it’s David bowie’s album.

This album feels like a great representation of art over commercial success. While there were only a few songs I could truly say I liked and would listen too regularly, it is clear how much of his own passion and life Iggy put into this album. The song Turn Blue is a perfect example, because while I found it rough to fully get through, it's obvious how much of his soul he put into it. I wish I could give this album a higher score, but so many of the songs were... rough to get through.

Pretty decent album. Not my favorite message but there are some good songs. The Passenger is definitely my favorite song. Probably wouldn't listen to the whole album again. 6.2/10

Love the tone, but compositionally simple. Fun, upbeat background music.

Pretty neat

I quit like it, it's not super aggressive even tho it's rock

It lost me halfway through. It's definitely good, but I don't think it's anything to write home about. I just found out that Iggy Pop is a person and not a band, so that's cool.

Lust For Life

Okay not my favorite

Can't say I'm a fan of the album cover, but I did really enjoy this. Some really great tracks in there and a couple that show clear future influence on bands like The Strokes. I can't say that the production of this sounds particularly brilliant but I enjoyed it for its raw, unedited feel. Favourites: The Passenger Tonight Neighbourhood Threat Fall In Love With Me

It's a solid rock album but I don't totally see the hype. Catchy tunes to start but after that the only good parts felt like more of the same

choose your fighter lust for life (1977) o lust for life (2017) el sonido es muy distintivo no importa que escuches, la triada del final gran cierre, toca seguir confiando en la ia que da discos

A very average album is carried by 2-3 hits. I doubt I'll revisit this much outside of The Passenger, Tonight, and Lust for Life

Had never heard any Iggy pop or the stooges before. Enjoyed this. Title track and sixteen were high points for me.

Fine, kinda fun

I feel like I should like this more than I do, but Iggy's stuff outside of The Stooges has just never really grabbed me.

3/5 - I prefer Iggy doing the Stooges and Bowie doing Bowie.

It isn’t straight-ahead punk but I see how it got there!

Lust for Life was a good way to start this album off! My other favorite song was The Passenger Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Not bad. A few classics

Today I learned that I know Iggy Pop songs. Pretty good album, I liked it.

Obviously 2 great singles but could take or leave several of the others . Could sense that Franz Ferdinand were influenced by this album . Last track lifted it off not a 3 review for me in spite of slightly uncomfortable lyrics .

Not my thing

I was really looking forward to listening to this album, but apart from lust for life and the passenger, I was left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Not that the rest of the album isn’t ok, but I was expecting that the rest of the album would be of the calibre of the aforementioned
