There is a reason this won a Grammy for Album of the Year. Groundbreaking at the time -- controversial at the time, too -- but Paul Simon had a vision and executed it brilliantly.

Classic.
One of the greatest albums that ever has or will ever be. Sonically daring, Corgan tortured himself (and his bandmates) to achieve this and we get to reap the reward forever. This is one of those albums I would call important, because to me, it changed the game.
Though I recognize their relevance in the alt landscape, I never have been a big fan of their music. Their lead singer always seem too whiny.
Maybe this was cool in 1971, but listening to this is a nightmare. Just not something fun to listen to, period. I would never recommend this to anyone. Ever.
Not as pleasant as it wants to be. Lead singer's voice grates.
Not fun, not melodic, more annoying than anything. Not something that I would enjoy listening to from beginning to end. Never been a Zappa fan and this hasn't changed my opinion
Some great classics, and some so-so very 80's stuff.
One of the best albums ever.
