Reviews (page 12 of 13)
this is probably a 3 but i was just so bored :(
Okay
Definitely not my pair of shoes.
It was ok. It gave 80s club vibes but it also didn’t make me wanna like dance. You’d think that electronic music would make you wanna dance. Definitely not something I would listen to again.
North American scrum and all my friends and new york I love you give me fond memories of late college/early adulthood, but I have always struggled to fully appreciate LCD Soundsystem. I find them droning and repetitive. Very, very repetitive. This doesn't get me dancing or move me emotionally. In fact, it can also feel like an anxiety attack to listen to them.
Not entirely without merit but I would probably pay to not have to listen again
Not my feel. But North American Scum and New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down struck some chords.
Not really sure what to say about this one. Nothing popped out to me as special or impressive. Kinda already forgot what it sounded like. His voice wasn’t even that good.
Was never that into it!
Decent, but nothing to write home about. Vocals were a hit and miss.
Good but no lyrics, a little too boring.
- bisschen monoton - all my friends : das beste vom album - sehr lange lieder
Okayi repetitivi grüsch. Aber depecho mode cha das besser
Would give it a 1.5. I felt nothing listening to this album.
Kind of just boring
LCD soundsystem is one of those bands i have always tried to like but I just don't get them. The songs are really long and repetitive. I know All My Friends is a famous song, and it had good lyrics but the repetitive A minor chord hurt my head after two minutes.
Too fancy and try hard. It’s not funky or good.
I think that it was pretty solid. I found some songs to be too monotone for me, while I think that can add some flavor in itself I found myself getting a bit bored at times. Part of it is that I'm not really into electronic music in general. I liked some of the punk elements and can see the appeal. Probably a 2/5 for my personal tastes, but can objectively appreciate it as more of a 4/5.
it's not for me to be honest; i can respect the art though.
reminds me of comedown machine by the strokes but made a tad more interesting and with more variety someone great is quite interesting okay the longer this goes on the more boring it gets i guess it's fine but it's not really my thing so i don't think i'll return to the full album anytime soon the album closer is quite decent it's really not bad
Is it bad that I enjoyed the songs in which the lead singer minimally participated way more than when he was featured?
They're very popular, I know a lot of people who like them, but I've never gotten into them. This was the first CD of theirs I listened to start to finish, trying to like it. It's OK, they get a pleasant enough sound. But they're so dull and repetitive. For me this is just a drone, albeit a drone with a fun beat.
eh .. its okay.
Some lcd songs are so superb but this album dragged for me. Overall, I wouldn’t listen to the album again.
Good electronic band.
Album wasn’t bad, until ending with that shitty song about New York.
This all kind of sounded the same. And I didn't really enjoy it. It got me through writing 2/3 of a CVPR review so it had that going for it, but it just wasn't really *good* in any way. Why is this on this list? It's like the Postal Service without good songs or lyrics. "All My Friends" has this sort of continuous piano-key hitting things which sounds like what my two year old does when he's not getting enough attention.
Not for me
I'm aware Bowie was a fan, and I was looking forward to my first full album listen of anything by LCD Soundsystem. I was underwhelmed.
Like the build on the opening track Get Innocuous! Didn't care for the vocals on Time to Get Away, nice bassline though. Opening riff of North American Scum reminds me of Rockafeller Skank. Find the male vocalist annoying, sounds like he's getting sodomized. I like the deep synth lines on Someone Great, otherwise pretty forgettable. All My Friends has this really annoying insistent piano. Us V. Them has a fun bassline and cowbell, sounds like Talking Heads. The handpan(?) and female vocals make the track good. Title track goes kinda hard. End track is lame imo. Notes: Album might grow on me, but track by track felt hit and miss for me. Production was good all around. I just didn't care for the yelping vocals.
im so bored pls
Every song has an epic buildup that really gets me going but then the song is over, and nothing has happend. I think this album is great for people who only like the build up leading to nothing.
Alright, not exactly my vibe. Repetitive. Nothing but Thieves inspiration perhaps?
Not my vibe
I wish it was more like NY,ILY
not really my thing…
I will say there were a couple of catchy songs. However, mostly this album sounded like something I could make if i wrapped my head in tin foil and went into my garage to fuck with all the miscellaneous shit that I’m storing for no reason. I’d give it three stars, but I now have anxiety with all the shit I have to clear out in my garage which almost brought it to a one…. But I’m still pro tin foil so it gets two!
2 - you know it’s bad when you dislike even the most popular one
I liked the music but would have liked it better with a different vocalist.
Day297 - i can hear the strokes and devo listening to this album but i would rather listen to the strokes and devo
Its like a guy got really really good on his Casio keyboard.
Not bad, but just not an album I was ever able to get into. Surprisingly fresh and more song-oriented than some other electronic-esque albums, but still falls into droning 7+ minute songs with no real reason to go on that long. Some decent songs that are less electronic. Top tracks: North American Scum; New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down
Okay dance/electronica, but not an album that engages me
I don't know if I'm cool enough to get this album.
Maso
Mostly I just feel like I don't get it
Wow. Ez úgy volt szar, hogy közben pörgősebb volt. Ah dzsízösz, vége lesz ennek a sornak valaha, könyörgök???
The good songs I really vibe with, but the others just sound like TJ Maxx/Target music.
whiny american vocals and painful recurring loops. not for me
fine
alright
I honestly expected to like this more. It's kinda like if you left your college roommate alone with a turntable and this is what they cooked up after 3 days straight. I like his other stuff, this just didn't work for me
A bit repetitive.
I didn't like the vocals at all. The sound didn't have much depth. However, listening to the album, I'm wondering if this group would be better live. I've been to a couple of shows where the bands were actually better live than their recorded albums.
This album is immediately set for failure because of the first song, which was definitely a 1-star track, and it was also way too long (7 minutes). Then the songs were 1.5-star ones, so nothing too special, but because there were a couple of decent-sounding track (the majority just being repetitively annoying where nothing happens) I would rate this 2 stars, and I am very generous.
There was only one or two "good" songs and they were OK at best
James Murphy can fuck off
American Scum is pretty good. That's about it.
2.5 stars. It was ok but not one song that grabbed me
Not objectionable but dance electronic not really my thing
This is strongly in the category of "I don't get it." Not that it's bad, like some stuff on this list (cough Sex Pistols cough), not that I just don't care for it, like other things... I just don't get why they are so praised. It's fine. I'm not hearing anything new here, just that kind of generic "popular indie" sound. Not even in a way that feels unique, more defined, more developed, or even particularly better than their contemporaries. What about them is so good? Why is THIS the group that so many different people I know seem to be so into? I get things like Glass Animals, even if I don't like them. Same with Halsey, Greta van Fleet, Foo Fighters, even the damn Sex Pistols. I usually "get" why most of these albums are here. But this?
I know this appeals to some, but I find it repetitive and difficult to find a way to enjoy. I don't like moving to Electronica. So not my flavor, but I wish we'll to those who dig it.
I dig Talking Heads, I really like my art school friends, and house parties are fun, but LCD Soundsystem is not for me.
Eh
This album is not for me.
This album could have lasted about about 10 minutes if you delete all of the duplicate words. Last track was the best one of the album.
This is an album I was fully expecting to like. But playing it was so unrewarding - I spent the time trying to place all the influences. I disliked the vocals and I found the album strangely unengaging and repetitive.
Another album that would be more interesting without vocalizations being annoying over top of it.
If Jonathan Richman fronted Le Tigre. Not bad. A bit too poppy though.
Way too repetitive for me. The sound was fun and upbeat for the most part, but each song was soooo repetitive and seemed to go on and on. I did really like the last song, New York I love you but…
Some decent energy, it was fun to listen to on a run. I don't know if this is a masterpiece or I'm just missing something here. It didn't bother me and I had a good time listening but doubt I'll come back. There were a couple of moments that made me wonder if I should though.
2.5
not the worst but the songs are too long
Album would be cooler if each song was half as long
Bit boring eh.
Barrgh… this is too repetitive for my taste
good pace for walking
I tried. Not my thing
Like talking heads if talking heads had more access to electronic stuff and weren't as creative
Meh
oke bübü und chli duggugugugugugu okok däncee joa s hetmi jz nanig würkli umghaue it's tIIIIIIme to gEEEt away oh god aber de rest vom lied hetmer besser gfalle als get innoucuous BASS north american scum cool au wenn ja sin gsang öh someone great, langsam gwöhni mi draa all my friends seehr nervöses klavier us v them gaht viiiiill z lang puuuh ja hetmi jz nöd gad überwältigt und s ischmer z lang gange
This is some fun upbeat electro-pop-rock, but it's repetitive. I could have listened to 30 seconds or less of each song and gotten everything I could have needed from the song, and saved myself maybe half an hour. It is fun. It does groove. But I get quite tired of it pretty quickly. It also probably doesn't help that I had a work meeting break up my listen.
Ranges from good to horrible
NO ME GUSTA
It's better than that American Dream album but I still found myself bored with it for a majority of it. The songs just go on to long and take away from the positive aspects.
Eh, not my thing. I listened to Fatboy Slim’s “Better Living Through Chemistry” after this and enjoyed it more
Electronic, rambly
A sort of soft-club-rock mashup. It's listenable, but it's also been done to death. The genre of "repeating 1-2 bars of theme with very gradual and minute variation spread across seven minutes" might've been revolutionary back in the 90s, but it's not so impressive anymore. (Also, this is the 2nd day in a row where my opening remark is almost exactly that. C'mon 1001 Albums, I know you can do better!) Not everything about the album is necessarily bad. Some of the tracks, such as Someone Great, All My Friends, and New York, I Love You but you're Bringing Me Down have a hook that's just catchy/silly enough for me to not grow tired of it. The latter track in particular exhibits a level of slowly rising energy and adventure that I really like. (Also by far the most liberal use of acoustic instruments in the album - great piano and raw vocal.) My main issue is that most of the remaining tracks are just not interesting or memorable, and this effect is exacerbated by the long track lengths. There's so much repetition and not enough variation. So much lifeless processed stuff, not enough soul. The '00s decade has better to offer. 2/5 Key tracks: New York I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down, Someone Great, All My Friends
One decent song
Ganska mid förutom New York. Sharp? Går nog lite över mitt huvud.
First track started off pretty good, the got worse and worse, by the end of the track I wasn't enjoying it much. Rest of the album was pretty bland too. NOt my cup of tea, but didn't have to turn it off, so 2 stars from me Harry!
Music without a soul. The beats are just enough to keep it out of one star territory.
Thought I was gonna like this but I really didn’t. North American scum was maybe the one I disliked the least
I like the last two tracks the best. If you had asked me 2 months ago if I liked LCD Soundsystem I would have said that they were cool. Now, not so much. Their albums are not for me.
Alright
Absolutely not for me.
I liked the last song the best. By far.
Started ok but quickly got repetitive. Background music at best for me, not amazing not terrible 2.5/5
Some of it was OK
Don't like the music. Don't like the voices on many of the songs. A lot of repetition. Nothing for me to like, but credit for universal acclaim.
não é meu thing
Not my favorite LCDS album
I knew a few songs from when it first came out. Didn't love it then and don't now either. Songs felt too long and repetitive and kinda grating.
Not my favourite style. Too electric…
I honestly expected better. This album was slightly annoying
I was intrigued at the start and bored at the end.
Nothing special really, even tho i like that is not very repetitive considering that is kind of electronica music (which i paticulary don't like)
I'm not feeling this one
I don't get it. The backing tracks are lackluster and I've heard better vocals at college karaoke bars. The only positive was All My Friends, and the fact that the rest of the album was forgettable enough to not leave a lasting impression.
Well, it started stromg but very same-y as time went on
Odd
Genuinely think this is a load of shite.
Lång tråkigt, han kan inte sjunga och tror inte han kan byta ackord i en låt heller. Vissa beat var groovy dock
Oh wow, another album that boggles my mind why is it on this list? It's bland, meh, annoying and tooooooooooo long. The songs are just too long and not in a good way. Sorry guys but I just don't find this album appealing. I am struggling to understand what is it that qualifies it to be on here. Highlight song for me: North American Scum
Nothing here for me
This was a tough one…pass.
very weird, not my style
It really gets annoying as it goes on
I was thinking from Track 1 that I may enjoy this but very quickly it felt repetitive and I wasn’t as into it.
Meh
i thought i'd like this a lot more, but oh my god, the repetitive unpleasant droning... every song being at least twice as long as it should be... this literally gave me a headache.
eh. some of the songs were kinda cool, and i like that this album is pretty unique in the 1001 list as kind of an indie electronica thing. on paper it sounds perfect for me, but in practice it just kinda fell flat. a lot of the sound effects and beats are annoying as hell and go on for basically the entire song with no changes. the songs are all way too long, with the average length around 6-7 minutes, and it all feels too samey. the album starts out decent but just gets more grating over time, and the only tracks i could see myself revisiting are the opener and the two short ones (only four minutes each!) favorites: get innocuous, time to get away, watch the tapes
Recognized North American Scum, it never played Daft Punk, but I would have known that one, too. Otherwise too repetitive and droning
Not a fan
Not my cup of tea.
Reminded me of someone making melodies to the sound of the drill at the dentist
Strange album. Monotonous at times (especially the title track), humorous, sad, serious, interesting…..overall, moderately fascinating. Odd vocals. Glad to have heard it.
Don’t really go anywhere.
Not convinced…
Second album by LCD on this list just makes me sure that I don't like, or will ever appreciate this band. The melodies and style just irks me for some reason and I can't truly focus on the songs. I like the style of the vocalist, but it's really a background thing. I don't really know what is so good about this band. Maybe I can try it again in few years, but for now, 2 would be the highest note I can give.
Zitatmusik: Kraftwerk, Talking Heads, Visage …
I've never been a fan of LCD Soundsystem. I tried to watch the documentary years ago but got too bored, and, unfortunately, that's how I find this album. The music just goes one "speed" and the vocals feel bland. I wish I could understand what so many other people hear, but it isn't for me.
Not normally my type of music, but made for fun listening, keeps you energized, yes better suited to a night out ;) The final ballad to NY is unexpected and bittersweet.
I didn't not like it however the music is very repetitive and becomes a little boring. Also the tracks are too long. The intro could be completely cut from all my friends ( and it has been I found a shorter version on YouTube). Only 2 songs were under the 5 minuite mark. I would have ranked it higher if they had used shorter versions of songs. Also disappointed that daft punk is playing at my house isn't on this album
It reminds me of a lot of 80s and late 70s stuff, but not as interesting. Vocals are not great and the songs are all about 2-3 minutes too long.
It was kinda hard to get through this one. There were a few good moments but it never settled for me. 3.5/10
Repetitive
Songs are a little too long and everything feels repetitive. I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't listen to it again.
I was hoping for something better for my 100th album. This isn't my thing but some of it was listenable.
It's okay. Little repetitive and songs were long 2.8
Thought I was really gonna like this album... but it leaves me rather cold. it's ok, but imho unremarkable...
Titelsong had instrumentaal moeten wezen
Weet niet zo goed wat ik hiervan moet vinden. Was net niks eigenlijk
Super Hans : Correct. Oh, arsehole? Jeremy Usborne : LCD Soundsystem. It's not the worst thing in the world but it's very much not my type of music.
Great for a dance club, but a lot of the songs were too long and repetitive.
Monotonous, boring dance music - nothing catchy, nothing makes me want to go back to this album. One interesting song is New York, I Love You…but that’s it.
I at 2.5 stars for this. I enjoy electronic music but this stuff gets really repetitive. I think my favorites are Someone Great and New York I love you. I think the singer kind of sounds like Death Cab's singer.
I hate it, but it belongs on the list.
Interesting albums, certain songs have off a U2 vibe but not all of them Top tracks: All My Friends
One great song on there but the rest were rather boring.
Very repetitive.
This one was not for me.
A little odd for me. Some songs were extremely repetitive. The album didn't have a good flow. Sounded more like a playlist than an album. Wouldn't listen to it again.
Beat was fast and it all sounded the same...
29/100 Based on this scale: 1 star - 0 to 19 2 stars - 20 to 39 3 stars - 40 to 59 4 stars - 60 to 79 5 stars - 80 to 100 This isn't entirely without merit, mostly due to North American Scum, but it's quite repetitive and the tracks are all roughly seven times longer than they need to be.
2.5
Lyrics kind of killed this one for me. Sometimes it felt too comedic. Unsure if that was the intent but I don't think I'd listen to it again.
very repetitive, nheca
Not horrible, just not my vibe
It has some energy but is repetitive. I knew of them for years but never checked out their music much. Not particularly impressed.
Kinda cool but not my cup of tea - I liked the MGMT album more 2.5/5
Not my thing; has a good beat for 10s then I find it annoying
Interesting and different, but not to my taste
Not my cup of tea. Some interesting music lines and beats. Don't like vocal
El hijo merquero de kraftwerk y talking heads. Buenas ideas. Mala ejecución. Buenos sintetizadores, muy buenos. Me gustaron los temas aislados. No el disco completo
This was a fine listen. I wasn't overly impressed but I didn't hate it. I'm not a fan of ridiculously long songs, so that definitely impacted my listening experience. There were three songs I liked more than the rest, and (surprise surprise) those were three of the shortest songs on the album.
Not my style - too repetitive for me. Extra star because I was surprised at how many songs I'd heard.
No. Not for me. Got waay too repetitive
It's unique, I'll grant it that. But nothing was catchy or made me want to listen to any more of it. I'm glad to see this kind of album on the list rather than another classic rock boomer snoozefest.
Too repetitive for me. 3-4 minute songs filled with 2 second loops of sample beats. This is definitely not for me. If it wasn't for the song All My Friends, I would have given it a one star rating. Even that song has the same 2 second loop through out the whole song.
Not an album I’d willingly listen but some tracks are catchy.
3/10 The Dylan for Coke Addicted Scenesters. James Murphy, has production talents for sure. He even puts on a good, high energy show (or used to). But the lyrics, the singing, and the emotion are all missing critical components. These songs all sort of hit one sort of vibe and stay stubbornly put. Sometime that vibe works, mostly. The lyrics are the puddle-shallow concerns of a a stereotypical hipster. James' vocals are limited, uninteresting, and don't convey much. This is an energetic album, but gets that from its BPMs rather than from any sort of emotional lift. The synths I'm certain are all analog and properly vetted for whatever version of authenticity James feels he must hew toward to stay in the "In" crowd.
I don't have a lot of affection for LCD Soundsystem. The first three songs are obnoxious with North American Scum particularly bad, then there's two alright songs in the middle, then back to bland soulless repetition. Besides 'Someone Great' this is the sound of being afraid to care too much, and it reminds me of the worst parts of the era when it was current. music: hated. (⌐■_■)
meh... I didn't particularly liked any song, they are all alright. But it's a 2/5. Which might sound harsh, but I am ranking everything relatively to the competition, and the competition is 1001 best albums of all time. If I had ranked all the albums in absolute, there wouldn't be any albums below 4.
It had its moments, but nothing much interested me here at all. Favorite track: All my Friends
It was nice, but not much for me to return to. I read others reviews and it is a lovely slice of other people's time-place anthems and I think its great for that, but as an album for me to listen to, its not a package that takes me anywhere special or brings me to a musical place I particularly enjoy. One track I have fav'ed.
get innocuous! 7 time to get away 4.3 north american scum 4 someone great 4.7 all my friends 5 us v them 4.2 watch the tapes 4.8 sound of silver 5.2 new york, i love you but you're bringing me down 6.6 not my favorite album, some songs seemed like clear influences on the front bottoms imo especially all my friends. probably something i wouldve liked a lot in high school, but just found it pretty boring/mediocre. 2.5 stars.
not my thing
Long intro
Sounds like that band Cake, the one that did the long jacket song. But, with more electronic elements till the last sing which is piano-based.
I can definitely see the influence this could’ve had on early indie and electronic music, but ultimately with the overly repetitive beats and melodies, plus the uninspired spoken lyrics, it’s just not for me. Only song I slightly enjoyed listening to was North American Scum.
You can hear the electronic/indie sound that comes from like, Depeche Mode turning into Owl City. As the album plays you can hear the gradient between genres and be able to pinpoint exactly where bits and pieces branch into modern indie electronic. Almost ahead of it’s time. However it was annoying to listen to. I get artsy but I am not a fan of this kind of stuff. There was an 8 minute long song of just noise..
Background noise - somebody new is a banger for nostalgic reasons
It's uhhh good. Emd meets Indie, I don't love it besides New York I Love You
Es como una mezcla de rock alternativo con electrónica. No me gustó.
Not for everyone. Great production, not compelling
Eh. Not my jam.
Seems a bit souless... One or 2 songs feel fun the others feel detached and uninteresting
An interesting album , not my favourite type, have heard of them before .
Another album from LCD Soundsystem in the top 1001 albums? Not sure why? It just seems to be more dance-electronic-punk-rock, but nothing special, although I quite liked "North American Scum".
not for me
- a few good songs - didn’t love the length/repetitive nature of the songs - didn’t blow me away
Heard it before?: Yeah Enjoy it?: Not really my thing but this is decent, nice vocal effects throughout Favourite song. Track 3 - North American Scum
not my favourite genre… they all sounded the same except for new york, i love you but you’re bringing me down - but i found myself bopping my head to it. all my friends was my favourite of the album
I was pretty hopeful for this album, but I have been disappointed. I couldn't really get into any of the songs and I don't really like the vocals in this album. Maybe I could get used to that voice, but it bothered me. I'm still cautiously optimistic for their other album on here. I guess my favourite song was Watch the Tapes, but I didn't especially like any of these songs.
Не моё
At first I felt there were too many beeps and boops, and then it turned into really vanilla alternative, and then was happy to beeps and boops came back. 2.5/5
Highlights: "Get Innocuous," "Someone Great," "Watch the Tapes," "New York I Love You" Murphy is very transparent about this being a midlife crisis revival of his favorite sounds, but it's ridiculous that people give him so much credit just for having good taste in what he regurgitates. Yes, we all wish there was another '80s record of Talking Heads, Bowie, Eno, or U2. The thing is, nobody ever wished for an album of Bono trying to sing like Byrne, or Byrne trying to write completely direct and literal lyrics about his opinions and feelings. The lyrics don't have a real sense of rhythm to make them anthemic or even catchy, which is critical if you're going to repeat them one hundred times. The most surprising, interesting moment in here is the end of the opener, which might just be a sample of Ben Johnston's "With Solemnity" or something by Ades or Britten. For a moment I thought there was some inspiration, but it might be just one more echo in his chamber.
Way too long, repetitive and quite boring in parts. Maybe a 2.5
The songs have a nice energy, but I don't find the style (both vocals and rhythm) personally engaging. "New York, I love you but you're bringing me down" was most interesting for me.
Every song sounded so similar, was bored the whole time.
Didn't enjoy this one but it might just be that I was doomed to dislike anything playing as I'm prepping calculus lectures
Repetitive lyrics killed this album for me. Made it feel “mailed in”. Could have some potential. It had decent production quality. Just subpar song lyrics.
This was fine. Nothing really grabbed me.
It’s like The Kinks, but a worse American version
meh, boring, repetitive
Period correct American style band rock
1 song I enjoyed, but the rest were rather annoying
LCD Soundsystem, you're bringing me down. Also, I don't love you. Best track: New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down
Luo minimalistisin keinoin oman, minimaalisesti kiinnostavan maailmansa.
This album definitely didn’t blow me away. There were moments I thought this was up my alley, but not enough to find a good jive. I will add “North American Scum” to my playlist. I did enjoy that song. Overall I’ll give this album a 2.
I was reminded of why I never got into LCD Soundsystem
Was pretty underwhelmed by this
The album opens with the title track, "Sound of Silver," which sets the tone for the rest of the record in many ways. The song is a melancholic meditation on aging and the passage of time, with James Murphy's vocals and lyrics backed by a propulsive beat and shimmering synths. Throughout the album, Murphy's lyrics are both introspective and observational, tackling big themes like love, aging, and the meaning of life with wit and intelligence. The band's ability to blend danceable beats with thoughtful lyrics and complex arrangements is impressive, but the result is an album that, whilst instrumentally intruiging, falls short due to the mostly odd vocal delivery from Murphy. It takes away more than it gives and leaves me wanting to hear more of the instrumentals than the actual vocals and lyrics.
Kraftwerk with annoying vocals, which somehow make it sound better. I liked the last song
kinda meh
Fine, nothing special
Sound good, but the songs themselves are so bad
Bored.
Meh, one and done.
Reminds me of cake and the talking heads. Kind of an alternative techno funk hybrid, not the greatest.
I’ve heard this album a lot but it doesn’t hit me, I call this genre claratyne house, because it’s all allergic white dudes.
Not a fan. Heard some pet shop boy and B-52 influences but electronic is not my thing
Not my thing, objectively fine, but dull.
It’s ok. Not really my type of music to begin with. There were some good cuts here and there. A bit pretentious tho.
This was an interesting album. Electronic vibes all the way through. North american scum all time song. I probably am going to have to watch Step Brothers after this. The guys voice is kinda insane but it definitely works in some spots. Decent 4/10
Yet another album that makes us marvel at the peaks and depths of the music experience.
Driving rhythms just sounded all the same after a while. This one's not for me
It's alright, I think? I dunno there's some pretty odd stuff on here and it makes me wonder who this was made for.
Did not enjoy it
The first song gave me a headache, and it didn’t get much better after that. I was unaware there were this many UK 90’s/200’s Electronic group albums on this list, and I have to say I’m very disappointed.
First listen I did not like this album. 2nd listen was better and I got a lot of work done thanks in part to the driving beat of most of the songs but it still faded into the background for me. Split the difference, 2 stars.
It starts off well and i thought i could get into it, but sadly not the case. A little too experimental for my taste. All my friends is decent. Found the rest of the album quite repetitive and hard to finish.
Liked a couple of tracks but most of the others were not for me
It’s got sounds for sure
To much electronica for me personally
Thats a no from me dawg

Tja, iets beter als de vorige LCD.
Dit vond ik toch stukken minder leuk.
Had trouble getting through this one.
Pretty disappointing, considering I've been hearing this band's name for years. The recipe is: make a groove with interesting and varied instruments, repeat it for six minutes, yelp over the top, and for god's sake don't change the groove or develop your lyrics. This was a chore to get through; I kept hoping they would turn a corner. But the last track was a major redemption! That one, at least, is really great and succeeds in many of the ways that the rest of the album fails.
Mehhhh I feel like the music I dismissed as a teen- ie emo, nu metal, a lot of indie and pop/R&B from this particular period- will always remain mid to me. D
Not into this at all.
not exciting
Didn't really make any impact on me. I think it was quite groovy in places...
Big giant MEH from me. It had some decent moments but I didn’t care for it overall.
Alternative dance in 2007? Well that idea conjures a series of nostalgic scenes. We all know that there's a dance electronic band that ruled the 2000's. That's right, I'm talking about The Black Eyed Peas. Wait, what? LCD Soundsystem? Who are they? Oh, The White Stripes trying to make electronic music? That's interesting. So... people used to DANCE to this? Lmao. I think they could make a kickass punk album, but of course, it was already 2007 and they had to touch at least one music trend at the time such as EDM. They did it horribly, btw, or maybe I'm just biased against the personally boring EDM music.
Very samey. These songs don’t need to be as long as they are
Didn't enjoy any of it really - long songs that just drag on tbh
It was ok. basic industrial boom like prodigy but also reminded me of weird bjork stuff in the way of random song building and samples
Electro-Punk? Post-New Wave? Neo-Techno? My thinking about LCD Soundystem has always been that you had to be there to get it. And I was a long way away from here... It has that false DIY vibe (cc. Arular), but with none of the charm home made one man shows are supposed to promote. It just seems rather mechanical...
The lead track isn't lying - this LP arrives with a lot of pomp and circumstance only to retread 1-2 loops for seven minutes at a time, leading to an album full of mildly peppy background music. James Murphy tries to add some flair in the vox, but lacks the delivery, creativity, and quality of not being an asshole to make things work.

This is like a not very good amalgamation of much of the 'alternative' music that was popular in the mid-late 2000s. Bloc Party + The Strokes + The Killers + Hot Chip - any original and interesting elements = this. When dance-rock is done well it can be epic (e.g. EXRMNTR), but this is, like a lot of the similar 2006-2009ish output, just sounds dated and generic now. 1.5/5.
Was kind of progressive and too weird for me
On the plus side, it's always good for me to listen to music and genres I rarely hear. This one is pretty far away from the kind of music I usually play. I listened to it all the way through, hoped it would grab me, but it just didn't. Mostly felt indifferent to it, and at times a little annoyed by it.
doesnt move me
Not bad, bit samey
First listen. Just ok for me.
It was alright, a bit too electronic for me. 2/5 stars.
Hmm. Human music. I like it
Sounds like someone took a Lou Reed or David Bowie figure and gave him an electro ethos with a hip hop kinda energy. Not something I’m inclined to love.
The beats are fine, but it's got a weird talk-y feeling to it that kind of takes away from the electronic coolness. Think your dad doing karaoke in a dance club.
Album feels like a rough draft, has some cool rhythms but the tracks all feel lacking. No direction either
Not really my jame
A bit of OMD, but generally quite tedious
Não sou propriamente um entendido na área, mas julgo que isto seja música eletrónica. Em comparação com o que já ouvi é melhor, mas não deixa de ser algo que não me agrade. Note:4/10
I liked one song.
Is ok maar meh

2/5
Highlights: North American Scum I probably wasn't really aware of LCD Soundsystem outside of Us V Them from Burnout: Paradise, and that's generally a song I skip ("Us....Them....Over and over again" over and over again). I did enjoy North American Scum, and can appreciate the self-deprecating humor, it's clear that LCDSS generally doesn't take themselves too seriously. Low-fi dsynths and indie-rock vibes should be more interesting than this, but it just isn't. Not really a fan.
I never listened to LCD Soundsystem before, even knowing the band by the name. It's a strange album that sounds "strange" to me. First I thought that it was "too much experimental", but I like experimental music too, so this is not the problem. In short, I didn't like it too much, but It had some very good songs, like the last one, for example. I'll not listen to it again in the next weeks, but maybe it deserves a second try some day.
First impression (first song) makes me think of Fatboy Slim. Very produced, very repetitive. Things didn't change after that. I didn't hate everything about this, but the repetitiveness wore me out and I got tired of it. Tried out every song, but didn't listen to each one entirely.
Did not enjoy

Not bad, not really me but some good stuff.
Luulin jo hetken käynnistäneeni pornhubin, mutta "musa" tulikin sporttarista. Tosin pornossakin lienee paremmat musat nykyään....
Paikoin vekkulia ja ihan toimivaakin, mut kokonaisuutena liian ykstoikkosta
Blah
Crap.
No..
I didn't know the band. Weird music and poor vocal. Poor album for me.
This is hard to rate. It has some parts that have a "The Killers" vibe, which I do enjoy, but as a cohesive album, it just isn't quite there for me. I know loops are the basis of electronic music, but some of the songs are just a bit too repetitive for my taste.
At the start this was alright, but as it went on, I was really not enjoying this. A little too repetitive for me. Also I’m not impressed with the singer’s performance. This is the first dance/electronic album I’ve had in a while so I liked the change. 1/5.
“Sound of Silver” by LCD Soundsystem is, well, okay enough when you hear it late at night in a club. But if you really listen closely, you realize it’s just a bunch of ringtones, sporadically punctuated by… well, let’s just call it singing for simplicity’s sake. To its credit, this album isn’t completely annoying; it’s not as monotonous as, say, Fatboy Slim, and in a way, I also like the attitude behind it. However, there’s nothing actually good about it: no compelling compositional work, no innovation, no virtuosity - and, to my knowledge, no socio-political relevance either. Hard to rate: it’s not actually bad enough for the trash bin (one star), but it lacks the substance for a second star. A clear 1.5 - let’s see how I represent that tomorrow morning.
No
Simply not my type. TOO repetitive.
I must have missed the era where this music was relevant.
Es tecno y no va. Insportable
3/10
Very of its time. Repetitive with little to no payoff, awful lyrics, just plain boring overall. Nothing really happens in the album for the majority and then when things do happen, I'm helplessly waiting for those things to be over. Maybe it doesn't hit as well as it would have 20 years later? I had no interest in them back then either though so I think it's just not for me and that's Okay.
Not my kind of music.
I am so happy that I was doing something while listening, or else I would have wanted my time back.
