Reviews (page 12 of 14)
Kanske. Kanske borde lyssnat nån gång till. Men jag är ingen maskin
it was decent but I was toning in and out. the constant swishing sound in 'someone great' triggered my sensory issues so that was a skip. I liked the songs 'North American scum' and 'New York I love you but you're bringing me down'.
Zzzzz it’s a mystery why this vapid shit ever got the reputation it has.
A few catchy tunes, but all a bit too smug and self-satisfied for me to enjoy it.
I really like Someone Great, the rest I really don't vibe with
Did not listen to this album.
2 out of 5 Not all that bad. Some songs were pretty good.
Interesting. Probably wouldn't listen to it again except for second cut entitled It's Time to Get Away From You which I have added to my play list for quick acesss. Too repetitive.
I don’t know if ‘annoying instrumentation’ is a bug or a feature here but I’m finding it grating. Looking at you, bells on “Us V Them” Sound & lyric repetition is also fatiguing to me here. Many of these tracks could be half their recorded length. Hearing the same sentence literally 20 times in a row feels like… lazy lyrics? I know I’m glass half full here, it’s just the vibe I get.
okay
A couple tracks had funky catchy grooves, but I lost interest. Not my bag.
Repetitive until it's boring, not my jam.
Every song sounds the same Soundsystem. Repetitive sixteenth-notes Soundsystem. There are some exciting moments on this record but I still find it dull.
Eminently listenable as background music, and wholly forgettable. It's strange to see an album from 2007 rank so highly as the pop-punk/alt-rock movement was already declining in popularity. It's fine, and the themes/lyrics are less cringe to an older listener than some of their earlier contemporaries, but as a result, the songs are too clean and white-washed to have any of the soul and earnestness that its predecessors had. Maybe it says a lot that I tabbed back over to check the name of an absolute banger...and it was the randomizer kicking with a Modest Mouse song after the album had ended.
I was not familiar with this band before listening to the album. They have an unique sound, that mixes electronica with rock melodies. Vocals distract me from the music and electronic music is often just background noise to me so it's a mixed experience. In the end, nothing in the album really hooked me in.
Somehow never got round to trying LCDS before. Not a huge fan of the dance rock style generally, but I can see they're good at it. Most of the songs should have been half as long to be honest, and the piano on All My Friends actively gave me a headache. North American Scum was my top track, I think. Overall a fine enough album, but I won't be putting it on again.
It has a moments, but I don’t think I care for this band onto the next one!
Listening notes made it sound like it would be righ tup my motorik strasse... but it was really boring. Timing is everything I guess.
2,3/5
It was pretty average for me. Not bad but not exceptional either. I liked the opening track though.
North America Scum was a stand out for me, but I didn't really care for this album.
not particularly a favorite of mine. I liked north american scum, but everything else was kinda eh for me
This was/is not my NYC. I was going to hardcore shows in the basement of the Charleston, 538 Johnson, etc at the time. I may contain multitudes but these two things are too diametrically opposed to be reconciled. Started out promisingly enough because Get Innocuous has a cool groove.
This is too harsh but it’s just like they took the gorillaz and the killers and copied all the build up moments but took out all of the hype/release of those songs. A lot of aimless electronic music which can be cool but I don’t think it means to be aimless. This real life emotional teenager song threw the whole thing down a rating, terrible song.
No thank you.
Fine, it sounds like a weird mix of rock and 90s synth pop and I'm not vibing with it.
Um zur Ruhe zu kommen? Maybe
A little too techno-y
The long intro of the opening track made me think this was going to be a straightforward EDM album, so it was surprising to hear those pulsing electronic sounds paired with an off-key, almost vulnerable voice. The repetition in later tracks—both musically and lyrically—feels excessive, but Someone Great and All My Friends point toward something deeper: a sense of loss and longing for times and people gone. Sound of Silver builds on that emotion—cowbell and all—while the closing track, New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down, starts as satire and ends as a moving search for belonging and meaning.
I’d rather be listening to just about anything else, to be honest. Ear pollution.
i can appreciate the talking heads/the strokes influences but i can’t get behind the songs 6+ and some of them were a real drag to get through
I thought I liked it and then I didn't.... Made my head hurt a little bit.
I liked it so little I didn't finish listening to it.
It seemed to have something which evaporated to nothing. Pick one play then OK. Anymore it is just a tad repetetive.
In a word, overstimulating. This album got worse and worse as my last toke got further and further away. There's some good vibey beats but the vocals aren't there. This is definitely music to have on in the background of a 2007 party. (When I saw that this album came out in 2007 I was like ohhhhh that makes sense.) I do kind of like North American Scum as a song but the lyrics are horrifying lmfao.
Rough week. Another band whose generic, anodyne, soulless music—adored by all the most boring people I knew at the time—I couldn't stand when they came out. Of course, I was being a dick. But this still bores me.
Ok
Just don't get it
good, but not my thing. 2
Why is there so many electric music in top 100 Records list
Friends was the one I liked the most but most was a vibe that I am rarely in
why is this here
Really dry, repetitive. After the first two songs it was difficult to focus on this album
Sound of trash. 2/5
Bisschen eintönig ...
This album was just really repetitive. I liked only a few songs but after a while, I just thought it was too much of the same thing over and over again. It's almost as if it was on repeat. I do like North American Scum because it was in Step Brothers so I'll give a pass but other than that. LCD Soundsystem is a very bland band that I just could never really wrap my head around. Favorite Songs: Time to Get Away, North American Scum Rating: 2.5/5
I have friends who love this band. This is something we don’t talk about.
Definitely unique but probably not my favorite. Don’t think I’ll listen to the whole thing. I do love the indie touch on it.
Painfully reptitive.
Not my style of music ngl, 2 good songs tho
I will give it a few listens, but too Techno for me so far. I’ve heard of this album forever and never got around to it
Extremely millennial-core, don't love this
Very of the era.
Kinda interesting for a brief time, but every song is about 3 minutes too long.
eh
There are parts of this that could be cool but in the end it’s all just meh
Started out really bad. Get Innocuous was terrible. Was worried that this was going to be a total slog. But then Time To Get Away was a little better, repetitive though. North American Scum was pretty funny, the highlight of the album (actually the only good song). The rest of the album continued the whole repetitive but ok sound. Wasn't as bad as the first impression, but not great either. Best song: North American Scum
Não é meu estilo de música. CVJ Neko.
Entiendo por qué está tan bien calificado. Está muy bien pensado. Solo no es algo que en este momento quisiese escuchar.
❤️ : Someone Great 😊 : Get Innocuous 👍 : All my Friends Sound of Silver NY, I Love You but You're Bringing Me down 😶 : Time to Get Away Us V Them Watch the Tapes ☹️ : North American Scum
Us vs them... the drums and bass intro was great. It had a fun sound but didnt give me that dichotomy but a harmony to it. The beats are very similar in every song and the Lyrics don't speak to me well. It doesnt feel deep or personal
Starts out sounding like someone is banging on a screen door. It’s not a bad album but it’s definitely not for me.
Meh. Worth a spin, but ultimately vapid.
Man I was never gonna enjoy this. It’s drawn out (the songs the album itself is a little longer than it probably should be but not terrible) and super electronic. Just not my vibe
This album is like a party you want to leave in the middle of. It doesn't sound bad at all, but the repetitiveness (my biggest gripe with electronica) gets old fast. It's not that long of an album, but I would enjoy it more if it were halved, I think. There's just no emotional journey, deep thought, or intricate musicianship to keep eight minutes of, say, Us v Them interesting.
Wanted to love this. Wanted this to hit my nostalgia bone, but it came up short. Felt embarrassing and dated. Some good songs but just not go-back-and-listen worthy
Mouais
Not my kind of music
Finale to the LCD Soundsystem entries. I was disappointed by the phenomenally milquetoast “American Dream”, but still have an open mind about this band. I’ve seen LCD Soundsystem being discussed a few times on the Internet and think there’s a chance for me to come around to this band. I can never have enough electronic albums in my rotation, too. Hmm. My criticism of American Dream continues to ring true. This album is, again, quite minimal – a style which doesn’t really appeal to me. Still, there’s some interesting sounds in here. “Someone Great” is the highlight of the album. There’s an interesting softness to the track despite featuring some harsh electronic synthesisers. I also enjoy the wavy cosmic sound during the intro and the xylophone/robotic tones that appear during the chorus. The songwriting and vocal performances are pretty solid, too. They really fired on all cylinders with that track. However, I also appreicate the successor track “All My Friends”. While admittedly a little too long, the lively, minimal piano and building tension on works pretty nicely. “Us V Them” is among the worst songs on the album, though as a cowbell enjoyer I’d be remiss to express my respect for such a bold, ambitious track. "NYILYBYBMD" is a solid closer. I enjoy me a little piano ballad, and the lyrics are a pretty fun listen. Wish I could check the entry for this album in the book, but alas! I can’t. I only have the 2005 edition of the book. In any case, I get the impression that this album is a respectable pick. It’s acclaimed, was commercially successful and is an early example of how the Internet has increased musical outreach. I suppose I can cosign this inclusion, even if I’m generally pretty apathetic towards it.
Dull and repetitive.
Liked it a lot as a lad, really not fun to listen to now. Feels so whiny and incel. Dance songs that don't make me want to dance, emotional songs that don't make me feel emotion, etc Fav song: Someone Great
Boring, too long, and just not my thing.
Boring sounds. Annoying beat. Stupid lyric.
Onda Daft Punk pero se queda a mitad de camino, honestamente me embolo
more about vibes more than anything!
First half took a bit to get into - not my music taste - the mix of instruments was irritating to my ears. The last three songs from watch the tapes, sound of silver and new York I love you but you're bringing me down - much better. Overall 2.5, with some hidden gems.
Couple of good jams, otherwise not my favorite
Too much cowbell. Ooommf dragged on a bit
This may be the most early 2000s album I’ve ever heard. It’s like Talking Heads without the charisma or talent.
Inoffensive background music. Doesn't make you feel anything
I only knew ‘Someone Great’ when heading into this album, but at most I thought that it was a decent song. Everything else just seemed to wash past me, where I was wondering exactly what I had just listened to. I don’t really get the LCD Soundsyatem hype, and this album didn’t do much to push me closer to an understanding
Shrug
Derivative electronic sounds. Reminiscent of Bowie’s Berlin years.
Tandjes, zonde. Deuntje is prima. 2 reten FAV: All my friends
I was obsessed with this album for a time and then forgot about it. Funny how it found me again. Gotta say, not sure what I saw in this one.
el. Rock, 2007 -> 2
Offensively repetitive and dull. This is mind numbing levels of repetition; similar to Chinese Water Torture, for me. All My Friends is an absolute Banger tho Best Song: All My Friends Rating: 3.5/10 (Irritating) Stars: 2/5
I do not like the average LCD Soundsytem song. I find it repetitive, and annoying. Once I got stuck listening to "Yr city is a sucker" with no ability to change the song and it was possibly the worst thing I had ever heard. "New York I love you but you're bringing me down" is good
Not really my vibe either. Much more grungy than my go to’s. Some of the sound was enjoyable, but the vocals leaned into discordance pretty often (shocking given that album cover, huh?). I’m just not a big discordance guy yet. Though this 1001 album thing is making me appreciate the extremely broad range of what people like, and I find that cool. LCD Soundsystem gets a 2.
I'm unsure how I felt about this album. I mainly just listened to it as I sat at my computer as it didn't particularly grab me. But I did vibe with a few songs, but I don't think this album as a whole will get a lot of replays from me.
Man, idk if it's because I was in a bad mood when I heard this, or if it's truly boring, but nothing about this really grabbed me. I sort of just tuned out. Would I revisit this: no
#599. There's so many examples of a one hit wonders wrong album on here that it's surely intentional at this point. This is just repetitive and kinda boring, honestly. 2/5: meh.
Some good music
Mediocre indie electronic. Multiple songs that had me check the time left halfway through. The good parts were obscured by repetition until it was dead. Was it influenced by a lot of the greats, sure. Has it influenced more modern bands I enjoy, sure. But I won't be revisiting this album.
Interesting sound, never heard of this band, so it was a fun listen, but not my fav
The epitome of "ok." Safe, boring album.
Eh
Some of these were ass. A few were funky and cool. New yoke I love you was neat and us v them was pretty actually good. Some sounds reminded me of the paper Mario sound track. Lots of weird sounds.
No
Confirmed what I already knew, my least favourite of the dance punk revival scene. Too much EDM not enough of the other elements makes it boring and repetitive.
I liked LCD Soundsystem. Then the kid who recommended them nonstop turned out to be a pedophile. I can't really listen to them anymore. Sorry, LCD Soundsystem; it's not your fault.
Not really a fan of this one. Has some great hooks like on All My Friends and Get Innocuous, but I think there's a lot of fat that could have been cut. Really feels like the album was a clean 40 minutes but the artist felt he wanted it longer. Favourite track: Get Innocuous!
I have to be in a really specific mood to listen to this one.
I can understand if you have a nostalgic love of this album because you were young and partying a lot when it came out. My favorite Outkast album is like that for me (it is not on the list and should be as it is a lot better than the two that are) but I don't have that attachment to LCD Soundsystem. This is pretty blah to me and only the final song and "North American Scum" stand out. 2.25/5
Never got into LCD and was intrigued. I liked it a bit is the best I can say.
Cheap Casio B52:s.
This might not be too bad without the vocals.
Meh. I found it very mediocre? There was not complexity or depth, rather very standard electro disco. The first song was ok, felt more towards synthapop but still, nothing remarkable.
The opening track started off interesting. I liked the instrumentals but as soon as the vocals started, I wasn’t sure if this album would be my thing. The next two tracks were not it for me. Then I got to Someone Great and All My Friends. I was shocked by how much I liked these two. This gave me hope for the rest of the album but unfortunately none of the other tracks stood out to me. I found them either boring and repetitive or just straight up bad. 2 stars though for Someone Great and All My Friends
Didn’t really get on with this one to be honest, a bit boring!
not.bad
First track very talking heads
No. Any music I can make on my computer doesn’t deserve a listen. At least I didn’t pay for this.
the last two songs are awful
I don’t get it. The best song still really needs that YouTube duet with Miles Davis (look it up) to be better. Ah well.
Didn't like it at all. The instrumental were ok and sometimes good bur the lyrics were lazy and uninteresting.
didnt give it an honest chance, but this is music for people who love cocaine
Has some interesting grooves and sounds, but can get fairly repetitive. The vocals also don’t do it for me overall.
2.5
Maybe a bit melodic with nothing that interesting to note
Ok, Dimery; that's quite enough EDM-esque albums. Every time one of these comes up, I feel like the name of the book should be "1001 Albums You'll Hear and Wish You Were Dead." This album isn't exactly Daft Punk or Skrillex; there's a bit of a rock edge to it that makes it slightly more palatable. There's enough techno influence, though, to make it suck.
Heavy electronica to start with and I was thinking I did not like it at all. But as the album progressed some songs were a bit more listenable.
зачем делать 8минутные песни, в которых вообще нет развития? одна мелодия просто дрочится. ебанутые ?
Viel schräge Sound, ein paar melodische Lichtblicke. Insgesamt eher schwach. 2/5
Not great, but it shares some traits with songs from OhLand and Two Door Cinema club, which are both good. However, I'm here to rate THIS album. Which is a 2/5.
eh, a little too repetitive
Annoyingly repetitive
Basically a 3, first few tracks threw me off
I vibe with it, I like the use of keyboards. In general I just find the album a bit boring for whatever reason. I'm not a super big fan of the singing voice Also... cmon: "Makes you want to feel like a teenager Until you remember the feelings of A real-life emotional teenager Then you think again" Ehhhhh 💀💀
I think I get why it's here. Is it worth being here... Not for me.
I don't get all the hype about this and how it deserves a place on this list. It has a grating voice, annoying production, stupid arrangements, bad lyrics, and unoriginal composition.
Ничего в такой музыке не понимаю. Альбом не захватил совсем, но, возможно, заинтересует когда-нибудь потом.
Not as good as it thinks it is
It’s not bad, I actually quite like the sound of it but it’s just not an album I see myself listening to again, none of the songs were very memorable to me. I usually try and give each album a couple of listens but after one listen I didn’t feel like I wanted to give it another go.
This sucks. It (especially North American Scum) sounds like Pixies if they were electronic and sucked. The only good song is "New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" because it sounds nothing like the other songs. It reminded me of Fugazi's I'm so Tired mixed (at some point) with alternative electric guitars from some Radiohead B-side.
Boring
I've been standing in tents at festivals with people absolutely in awe of this band, and I'm obviously missing something. They were a big part of the Meet Me In The Bathroom book and film, and again, as much as I appreciate what they're going for and their musical and technical abilities, it isn't for me. A harsh 2 because I never play their music, but I'd like to like them.
Probably wouldn’t FF if one popped up in play list but not gonna be listening to the whole album again.
Not my favorite of theirs, too much synth
I have to admit this isn’t my style of music, but this album was fun.
Meh ok just ok
Too repetitive and not very imaginative.
Overall, repetitive, derivative dirge. A couple of decent tracks save it from a 1 star review. Not sure what the hype is about to be honest.
Lots of influences, from 70s and 80s, which are kind of spot that sounds like …. but with a lot of the life sucked out, for me at least. Just tiresome to my old ears, being a little water torture in places, think “dance” music that just repeats the same beat is a need to be there thing. just don’t see the point of this being here, oh well 2 Star. For dropping hints of prior music I actually like and for the cowbell
I find their music to range from annoying to boring
This album wasn’t really my taste. Funk but if a white guy with frosted tips wrote it. Kinda like jamiroqui (napoleon dynamite) after listen. To almost all of the songs, it became apparent I wouldn’t listen to these song again afterward maybe the North Americans song lol kinda funny
I had a fever and for all these years I thought the cure was more cowbell. But it turns out this album proved that theory wrong. In this case it was as easy as turning off the 56 minutes of dubstep.
Obnoxiously repetitive. Halfway through, my ears were exhausted and I hoped it would end soon. Usually I like Electronica.
this is probably a 3 but i was just so bored :(
Okay
Definitely not my pair of shoes.
It was ok. It gave 80s club vibes but it also didn’t make me wanna like dance. You’d think that electronic music would make you wanna dance. Definitely not something I would listen to again.
North American scrum and all my friends and new york I love you give me fond memories of late college/early adulthood, but I have always struggled to fully appreciate LCD Soundsystem. I find them droning and repetitive. Very, very repetitive. This doesn't get me dancing or move me emotionally. In fact, it can also feel like an anxiety attack to listen to them.
Not entirely without merit but I would probably pay to not have to listen again
Not my feel. But North American Scum and New York I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down struck some chords.
Not really sure what to say about this one. Nothing popped out to me as special or impressive. Kinda already forgot what it sounded like. His voice wasn’t even that good.
Was never that into it!
Decent, but nothing to write home about. Vocals were a hit and miss.
Good but no lyrics, a little too boring.
- bisschen monoton - all my friends : das beste vom album - sehr lange lieder
Okayi repetitivi grüsch. Aber depecho mode cha das besser
Would give it a 1.5. I felt nothing listening to this album.
Kind of just boring
LCD soundsystem is one of those bands i have always tried to like but I just don't get them. The songs are really long and repetitive. I know All My Friends is a famous song, and it had good lyrics but the repetitive A minor chord hurt my head after two minutes.
Too fancy and try hard. It’s not funky or good.
I think that it was pretty solid. I found some songs to be too monotone for me, while I think that can add some flavor in itself I found myself getting a bit bored at times. Part of it is that I'm not really into electronic music in general. I liked some of the punk elements and can see the appeal. Probably a 2/5 for my personal tastes, but can objectively appreciate it as more of a 4/5.
it's not for me to be honest; i can respect the art though.
reminds me of comedown machine by the strokes but made a tad more interesting and with more variety someone great is quite interesting okay the longer this goes on the more boring it gets i guess it's fine but it's not really my thing so i don't think i'll return to the full album anytime soon the album closer is quite decent it's really not bad
Is it bad that I enjoyed the songs in which the lead singer minimally participated way more than when he was featured?
They're very popular, I know a lot of people who like them, but I've never gotten into them. This was the first CD of theirs I listened to start to finish, trying to like it. It's OK, they get a pleasant enough sound. But they're so dull and repetitive. For me this is just a drone, albeit a drone with a fun beat.
eh .. its okay.
Some lcd songs are so superb but this album dragged for me. Overall, I wouldn’t listen to the album again.
Good electronic band.
Album wasn’t bad, until ending with that shitty song about New York.
This all kind of sounded the same. And I didn't really enjoy it. It got me through writing 2/3 of a CVPR review so it had that going for it, but it just wasn't really *good* in any way. Why is this on this list? It's like the Postal Service without good songs or lyrics. "All My Friends" has this sort of continuous piano-key hitting things which sounds like what my two year old does when he's not getting enough attention.
Not for me
I'm aware Bowie was a fan, and I was looking forward to my first full album listen of anything by LCD Soundsystem. I was underwhelmed.
Like the build on the opening track Get Innocuous! Didn't care for the vocals on Time to Get Away, nice bassline though. Opening riff of North American Scum reminds me of Rockafeller Skank. Find the male vocalist annoying, sounds like he's getting sodomized. I like the deep synth lines on Someone Great, otherwise pretty forgettable. All My Friends has this really annoying insistent piano. Us V. Them has a fun bassline and cowbell, sounds like Talking Heads. The handpan(?) and female vocals make the track good. Title track goes kinda hard. End track is lame imo. Notes: Album might grow on me, but track by track felt hit and miss for me. Production was good all around. I just didn't care for the yelping vocals.
im so bored pls
Every song has an epic buildup that really gets me going but then the song is over, and nothing has happend. I think this album is great for people who only like the build up leading to nothing.
Alright, not exactly my vibe. Repetitive. Nothing but Thieves inspiration perhaps?
Not my vibe
I wish it was more like NY,ILY
not really my thing…
I will say there were a couple of catchy songs. However, mostly this album sounded like something I could make if i wrapped my head in tin foil and went into my garage to fuck with all the miscellaneous shit that I’m storing for no reason. I’d give it three stars, but I now have anxiety with all the shit I have to clear out in my garage which almost brought it to a one…. But I’m still pro tin foil so it gets two!
2 - you know it’s bad when you dislike even the most popular one
I liked the music but would have liked it better with a different vocalist.
Day297 - i can hear the strokes and devo listening to this album but i would rather listen to the strokes and devo
Its like a guy got really really good on his Casio keyboard.
Not bad, but just not an album I was ever able to get into. Surprisingly fresh and more song-oriented than some other electronic-esque albums, but still falls into droning 7+ minute songs with no real reason to go on that long. Some decent songs that are less electronic. Top tracks: North American Scum; New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down
Okay dance/electronica, but not an album that engages me
I don't know if I'm cool enough to get this album.
Maso
Mostly I just feel like I don't get it
Wow. Ez úgy volt szar, hogy közben pörgősebb volt. Ah dzsízösz, vége lesz ennek a sornak valaha, könyörgök???
The good songs I really vibe with, but the others just sound like TJ Maxx/Target music.
whiny american vocals and painful recurring loops. not for me
fine
alright
I honestly expected to like this more. It's kinda like if you left your college roommate alone with a turntable and this is what they cooked up after 3 days straight. I like his other stuff, this just didn't work for me
A bit repetitive.
I didn't like the vocals at all. The sound didn't have much depth. However, listening to the album, I'm wondering if this group would be better live. I've been to a couple of shows where the bands were actually better live than their recorded albums.
This album is immediately set for failure because of the first song, which was definitely a 1-star track, and it was also way too long (7 minutes). Then the songs were 1.5-star ones, so nothing too special, but because there were a couple of decent-sounding track (the majority just being repetitively annoying where nothing happens) I would rate this 2 stars, and I am very generous.
There was only one or two "good" songs and they were OK at best
James Murphy can fuck off
American Scum is pretty good. That's about it.
2.5 stars. It was ok but not one song that grabbed me
Not objectionable but dance electronic not really my thing
This is strongly in the category of "I don't get it." Not that it's bad, like some stuff on this list (cough Sex Pistols cough), not that I just don't care for it, like other things... I just don't get why they are so praised. It's fine. I'm not hearing anything new here, just that kind of generic "popular indie" sound. Not even in a way that feels unique, more defined, more developed, or even particularly better than their contemporaries. What about them is so good? Why is THIS the group that so many different people I know seem to be so into? I get things like Glass Animals, even if I don't like them. Same with Halsey, Greta van Fleet, Foo Fighters, even the damn Sex Pistols. I usually "get" why most of these albums are here. But this?
I know this appeals to some, but I find it repetitive and difficult to find a way to enjoy. I don't like moving to Electronica. So not my flavor, but I wish we'll to those who dig it.
I dig Talking Heads, I really like my art school friends, and house parties are fun, but LCD Soundsystem is not for me.
Eh
This album is not for me.
This album could have lasted about about 10 minutes if you delete all of the duplicate words. Last track was the best one of the album.
This is an album I was fully expecting to like. But playing it was so unrewarding - I spent the time trying to place all the influences. I disliked the vocals and I found the album strangely unengaging and repetitive.
Another album that would be more interesting without vocalizations being annoying over top of it.
If Jonathan Richman fronted Le Tigre. Not bad. A bit too poppy though.
Way too repetitive for me. The sound was fun and upbeat for the most part, but each song was soooo repetitive and seemed to go on and on. I did really like the last song, New York I love you but…
Some decent energy, it was fun to listen to on a run. I don't know if this is a masterpiece or I'm just missing something here. It didn't bother me and I had a good time listening but doubt I'll come back. There were a couple of moments that made me wonder if I should though.
2.5
not the worst but the songs are too long
Album would be cooler if each song was half as long
Bit boring eh.
Barrgh… this is too repetitive for my taste
good pace for walking
I tried. Not my thing
Like talking heads if talking heads had more access to electronic stuff and weren't as creative
Meh

This is some fun upbeat electro-pop-rock, but it's repetitive. I could have listened to 30 seconds or less of each song and gotten everything I could have needed from the song, and saved myself maybe half an hour. It is fun. It does groove. But I get quite tired of it pretty quickly. It also probably doesn't help that I had a work meeting break up my listen.
Ranges from good to horrible
NO ME GUSTA
It's better than that American Dream album but I still found myself bored with it for a majority of it. The songs just go on to long and take away from the positive aspects.
Eh, not my thing. I listened to Fatboy Slim’s “Better Living Through Chemistry” after this and enjoyed it more
Electronic, rambly
A sort of soft-club-rock mashup. It's listenable, but it's also been done to death. The genre of "repeating 1-2 bars of theme with very gradual and minute variation spread across seven minutes" might've been revolutionary back in the 90s, but it's not so impressive anymore. (Also, this is the 2nd day in a row where my opening remark is almost exactly that. C'mon 1001 Albums, I know you can do better!) Not everything about the album is necessarily bad. Some of the tracks, such as Someone Great, All My Friends, and New York, I Love You but you're Bringing Me Down have a hook that's just catchy/silly enough for me to not grow tired of it. The latter track in particular exhibits a level of slowly rising energy and adventure that I really like. (Also by far the most liberal use of acoustic instruments in the album - great piano and raw vocal.) My main issue is that most of the remaining tracks are just not interesting or memorable, and this effect is exacerbated by the long track lengths. There's so much repetition and not enough variation. So much lifeless processed stuff, not enough soul. The '00s decade has better to offer. 2/5 Key tracks: New York I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down, Someone Great, All My Friends
One decent song
Ganska mid förutom New York. Sharp? Går nog lite över mitt huvud.
First track started off pretty good, the got worse and worse, by the end of the track I wasn't enjoying it much. Rest of the album was pretty bland too. NOt my cup of tea, but didn't have to turn it off, so 2 stars from me Harry!
Music without a soul. The beats are just enough to keep it out of one star territory.
Thought I was gonna like this but I really didn’t. North American scum was maybe the one I disliked the least
I like the last two tracks the best. If you had asked me 2 months ago if I liked LCD Soundsystem I would have said that they were cool. Now, not so much. Their albums are not for me.
Alright
Absolutely not for me.
I liked the last song the best. By far.
Started ok but quickly got repetitive. Background music at best for me, not amazing not terrible 2.5/5
Some of it was OK
Don't like the music. Don't like the voices on many of the songs. A lot of repetition. Nothing for me to like, but credit for universal acclaim.
não é meu thing
Not my favorite LCDS album
I knew a few songs from when it first came out. Didn't love it then and don't now either. Songs felt too long and repetitive and kinda grating.
Not my favourite style. Too electric…
I honestly expected better. This album was slightly annoying
I was intrigued at the start and bored at the end.
Nothing special really, even tho i like that is not very repetitive considering that is kind of electronica music (which i paticulary don't like)
I'm not feeling this one
I don't get it. The backing tracks are lackluster and I've heard better vocals at college karaoke bars. The only positive was All My Friends, and the fact that the rest of the album was forgettable enough to not leave a lasting impression.
Well, it started stromg but very same-y as time went on
Odd
Genuinely think this is a load of shite.
Lång tråkigt, han kan inte sjunga och tror inte han kan byta ackord i en låt heller. Vissa beat var groovy dock
Oh wow, another album that boggles my mind why is it on this list? It's bland, meh, annoying and tooooooooooo long. The songs are just too long and not in a good way. Sorry guys but I just don't find this album appealing. I am struggling to understand what is it that qualifies it to be on here. Highlight song for me: North American Scum
Nothing here for me
This was a tough one…pass.
very weird, not my style
It really gets annoying as it goes on
I was thinking from Track 1 that I may enjoy this but very quickly it felt repetitive and I wasn’t as into it.
Meh
i thought i'd like this a lot more, but oh my god, the repetitive unpleasant droning... every song being at least twice as long as it should be... this literally gave me a headache.
eh. some of the songs were kinda cool, and i like that this album is pretty unique in the 1001 list as kind of an indie electronica thing. on paper it sounds perfect for me, but in practice it just kinda fell flat. a lot of the sound effects and beats are annoying as hell and go on for basically the entire song with no changes. the songs are all way too long, with the average length around 6-7 minutes, and it all feels too samey. the album starts out decent but just gets more grating over time, and the only tracks i could see myself revisiting are the opener and the two short ones (only four minutes each!) favorites: get innocuous, time to get away, watch the tapes
Recognized North American Scum, it never played Daft Punk, but I would have known that one, too. Otherwise too repetitive and droning
Not a fan
Not my cup of tea.
Reminded me of someone making melodies to the sound of the drill at the dentist
Strange album. Monotonous at times (especially the title track), humorous, sad, serious, interesting…..overall, moderately fascinating. Odd vocals. Glad to have heard it.
Don’t really go anywhere.
Not convinced…
Second album by LCD on this list just makes me sure that I don't like, or will ever appreciate this band. The melodies and style just irks me for some reason and I can't truly focus on the songs. I like the style of the vocalist, but it's really a background thing. I don't really know what is so good about this band. Maybe I can try it again in few years, but for now, 2 would be the highest note I can give.
Zitatmusik: Kraftwerk, Talking Heads, Visage …
I've never been a fan of LCD Soundsystem. I tried to watch the documentary years ago but got too bored, and, unfortunately, that's how I find this album. The music just goes one "speed" and the vocals feel bland. I wish I could understand what so many other people hear, but it isn't for me.
Not normally my type of music, but made for fun listening, keeps you energized, yes better suited to a night out ;) The final ballad to NY is unexpected and bittersweet.
I didn't not like it however the music is very repetitive and becomes a little boring. Also the tracks are too long. The intro could be completely cut from all my friends ( and it has been I found a shorter version on YouTube). Only 2 songs were under the 5 minuite mark. I would have ranked it higher if they had used shorter versions of songs. Also disappointed that daft punk is playing at my house isn't on this album
It reminds me of a lot of 80s and late 70s stuff, but not as interesting. Vocals are not great and the songs are all about 2-3 minutes too long.
It was kinda hard to get through this one. There were a few good moments but it never settled for me. 3.5/10
Repetitive
Songs are a little too long and everything feels repetitive. I didn't hate it, but I wouldn't listen to it again.
I was hoping for something better for my 100th album. This isn't my thing but some of it was listenable.
It's okay. Little repetitive and songs were long 2.8
Thought I was really gonna like this album... but it leaves me rather cold. it's ok, but imho unremarkable...
Titelsong had instrumentaal moeten wezen
Weet niet zo goed wat ik hiervan moet vinden. Was net niks eigenlijk
Super Hans : Correct. Oh, arsehole? Jeremy Usborne : LCD Soundsystem. It's not the worst thing in the world but it's very much not my type of music.
Great for a dance club, but a lot of the songs were too long and repetitive.
Monotonous, boring dance music - nothing catchy, nothing makes me want to go back to this album. One interesting song is New York, I Love You…but that’s it.
I at 2.5 stars for this. I enjoy electronic music but this stuff gets really repetitive. I think my favorites are Someone Great and New York I love you. I think the singer kind of sounds like Death Cab's singer.
I hate it, but it belongs on the list.
Interesting albums, certain songs have off a U2 vibe but not all of them Top tracks: All My Friends
One great song on there but the rest were rather boring.
