Despite being a Beatles record, this has not much to offer even in terms of the era. Pretty average 60ies. A few mémorables, a few awful trucks. If it weren't the Beatles, I predict this would have gone fairly unnoticed.

60s' pop rock being 60s' pop rock with the added benefit of horrible use of stereo. Not terrible but outdated and quite boring.

Good for beachy vibes, bit slow for my taste. Also I can only listen to old Beatles song for so long before it all kind of sounds the same.

Dont know if it is their first or one of the firsts,but it is pretty bad compared to all of their other songs Songs with repetitive lyrics,their symphony doesnt glue with you and their lyrics are almost identical and simple,just talking abiut love in the simplest of ways

Six out of fourteen tracks are (not great) covers. And, does a book/list like 1001 AYMHBYD need seven Beatles albums? I love the Beatles, but really?

Bland and boring.

Typical early Beatles

Not to be that friend that's too woke, but I've generated 37 albums so far and the count is: - 3 Beatles albums - 1 album by a female artist or female fronted band I find this a little concerning. Anyway this is a cute collection of songs/covers, but it doesn't feel very essential at all especially compared to the rest of their discography.

Really didn't enjoy it on the first listen. Hearing using better speakers made it sound much better, but beyond it's role in their rise, I don't think it is a highlight in their discography.

Here we have a very good Bar Mitzvah band in 1963. They play songs that are tight and arranged in the style of the day. But, if you strip away all that the Beatles do after this album, there’s nothing exceptional or highly creative here. It’s fine — there’s nothing wrong with it. But, aside from a few really fun tracks, there’s little about this album that I had to hear before I died. It’s a 2.

The Beatles - With The Beatles Although this is not bad of an album in of itself, compared to the massive and glorious discography that The Beatles have left in their legacy, this is easily their worst. But usually like every great thing that comes in existence, there's always a place to start, so for this to be their first album is not bad, especially to what they would eventually make years later on, making their change really impactful. This album offers nice tunes here and there, reminiscing that of Elvis Presley's style, and also having that 60's style over it, some songs had aged really badly though, like Little Child for instance. The third day of listening to the list I've never listened to The Beatles, and for me they've always been a band that everyone talks about, but that I've never been interested in. As for the album, it's simple, naive or something, it's not impressive. Guess, i'll see what they have in the rest of the albums. Ah yes, of course it have a fucking harmonica

p59. 1963. 2 stars. Just because something is popular doesn't mean its good. Far too much filler and redundant covers. Saved from 1 star by a handful of Lennon-McCartney classics, plus an honourable mention for the cover of "Money".

Historically I know this is an important album. That being said, it isn’t anything to write home about. It’s fine, the covers aren’t great, but the originals are fine. So personally I wouldn’t listen to anything on here again. So it’s a two for me.

Amazing, a halfway boring album from the Beatles. Even the hits are uninteresting. I think I had this album in my ear when I developed my youthful dislike of the Beatles. Fortunately, I got to know and appreciate the Beatles better, not least through this project. But this album has very little to do with that. I might listen to one or two songs from it again. I'd rather like ti forget the existence of the rest. 2/5

Not my preferred Beatles era. The best thing about this may be the cover. I do enjoy all my loving but similar to early rolling stones, they were just doing what everyone else was doing which feels like some chuck berry/buddy holly style music.

Almost clicked off the first song lol Every song is super short? 33 mins total runtime for 14 songs. But they felt long because they all blend together and none of them are for me. 😭 The guitar on TTWY was cool tho The rating is purely personal enjoyment. I was happy when it was over

Starts ok, ends weakly. This is my least favorite Beatles era

It opens annoyingly with "Won't Be Long" and doesn't really let off the gas. "All My Loving" showcases some of their impending songwriting brilliance, but nothing takes off or gets into those remarkable McCartney-Lennon segues that define some of their later stuff. Interesting to hear a Broadway tune act as a cooldown track on a Rock and Roll album... I'm really into John's vocal performance on Money, there we go buddy! The rhythm guitar has a neat bubbly energy throughout but this album isn't something I'm going to put on again probably ever again.

The Beatles should not cover Motown hits. If I want to hear Please Me. Postman or You Really Got a Hold on Me or Money, I’ll listen to the Marvelettes, the Miracles, and Barrett Strong, respectively and respectfully. Call me when Abbey Road is up.

Early Beatles doesn't really do it for me, and at this stage their version of the invasion formula is still fairly generic, though I suppose they execute pretty well. That said, there are at least a couple good originals on this album. "It Won't Be Long" and "All My Loving" are standouts for me. Otherwise there are a number of ok to throwaway level songs and a bunch of Motown covers. Feels like a collection of singles more than an album.

Decent, not great.

Maybe controversially I’ve never been one for the Beatles. This is a preppy album, but completely derived of the soul, especially in some of the covers. I’d give this one a miss.

The second Beatles record if I remember right. It sounded the same like the first, but they were praised like hell. Of course, they remain one of, if not the best, band of all time, but their later work was actually interesting

It's fine for early 60's rock, but not my jam. I can't fault them for making music of the time, and obviously they're not bad musicians, so this probably doesn't deserve a 2...but it was hard for me to get through and that's the 2/3 tiebreaker for me on here. 2.4

The more I listen to the Beatles, the more I know this band is not for me.

Possibly the weakest of all the Beatles albums. I'm torn, as I think I'd give this 1-2* if it was anyone else, but perhaps unconscious bias is making me want to rate this higher. It's much better than the other shite being released in 1963, but I feel like there's not really any evolution from their first album, whereas everything that came after was building upon the previous and improving each time. Heart says 3*, head says 2*

Had never heard this album before but had heard a couple of the songs. Wow, wasn't prepared for this shockingly mediocre effort. A lot of cover songs, and these versions are better forgotten. Amongst the originals, it's pretty telling when the Ringo Starr song might be the best on the album. Unless the goal is to tarnish the reputation of The Beatles, this album should not be on this list. 2 stars.

Ugh. Almost no redeeming qualities about this album. It doesn't show the genesis or evolution of the band, just that they know what a cover is...

This is a cannonball into the 60's pool. Many of these are covers so I feel like this was more of a Beatles promotional album than the freedom of the band to create their own space, and indeed, they were required to generate 2 LP's a year by the record company. The mixing on this album really bothered me as well: I could hear different ambient background come in and out as different tracks were highlighted, and the gain seemed overbright. This was a bit surprising as the mixing engineer also handled several of Pink Floyd's albums and I haven't had the same experience there. I noted from the Wikipedia page that the upper right is prominently marked "stereo" or "mono", so this is probably the early years of a recording studio technology expansion and experimentation period: the mix that produced good sound from early AM radio and early stereo equipment isn't quite the same on modern sound technology. I'm not a huge Beatles fan (overexposure as a kid?) but there's talent here, although young and rough still, yet to find its true groove.

I understand that this is an early Beatles album but why on the list? We gonna get all their albums? I think their debut deserves the list but this was mediocre and had too many covers. "All My Lovin'" is the only original track that stood out. When people tell me they aren't a Beatles fan it's because of the early albums like this one. Someone from the era tell me why this is a must listen...1.78.

I think the legacy of the Beatles colors people's view of how bad this band used to be. This is 90% pop music garbage with nothing remarkable to say lyrically or musically. If this album was made by a group going by any other name it wouldn't be on this list. I refuse to think this is good just because this band goes on to make Sgt. Peppers.

My brain has always refused to latch on to the Beatles. I thought With The Beatles was alright at first, until I realized how much of the parts I liked were just covers and it lost me. Leave Meredith Willson's "Till There Was You" on the Music Man soundtrack where it was meant to be enjoyed, thank you.

Was someone going through a break up when this album was in the making? Cause the first song sounds like someone was a bad boyfriend and was trying to get their partner back, while the second song sounds like someone is begging for their partner's touch.

Ehhhhh... Looking forward to listening to their later work, to understand how they went from being a cheesy cover band of American rock 'n' roll hits (they do have original stuff here too but strinkingly unoriginal) to THE BEATLES. Because listening to their first two albums makes it seem to me that they could easily have vanished after these and lost to time. Nothing special at all. Don't get me wrong, it's pleasant enough music to listen to, especially if you want to be transported to an American road-side diner in the 1950s. But the fact these lads were from Liverpool makes it all the less authentic. I'd listen to the music that these songs cover/mimic, listen to the Beatles later stuff, but I won't be returning to this... ever. Can't see why it's on this list, unless it's just to show how much they developed in such a short time...

I don't really like the Beatles I think. It wasn't bad listening I wasn't bored and even found myself bopping my head a few times. I wouldn't seek them out again. This was an okay album and it's cool to see the inspiration for my one of my favorite albums in Please Mister Postman.

I'm not a big fan of early Beatles. Nice to hear the blues and Motown influences but it's all a bit too upbeat and neatly packaged for me.

If the Beatles ended after this album they would be a cute curiosity today, known only by a few record collectors. This is quickly produced boy band music with inane lyrics. Pretty catchy but it’s an album that doesn’t grow with further listening. It starts to annoy me third time through.

Kinda Boring through the first 4 tracks, type of music that would be played at a surf shop or beach restaurant. Very vibey but feels a little empty. Definitely makes sense this was one of their earlier projects. 5/10

The Beatles are my favourite band but this hasn't aged well. Half of the album is covers, and not very good covers for the most part, and only one classic song - All My Loving. To put it in comparison, PPM and Beatles for Sale probably have two or three classics on them. I still enjoy this but that's mainly because I grew up with it (and it's short), compared to the Beatles other work this is extremely weak.

The covers that John and George sing are the highlight here. The early Lennon/McCartney songs are pretty laughable. This is the Beatles closer to the cover band they were in Hamburg then what they became.

Early-era Beatles records really confuse me. The singles from that time are some of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion — even better than their late-era material — but almost none of those songs are ever on an album proper. And listen, I know enough about music history to know why that is the case, but as a result, I leave every pre-Rubber Soul album just wishing I could listen to The Red Album 1962-1966 compilation, which deserves a spot on this list way more than almost any “official” Beatles album. Certainly over With The Beatles. I just cannot stand behind an album that is mostly comprised of cover songs, all of which are worse than their original counterparts. And like, it’s not like these covers are by obscure artist — listen to Chuck Berry, listen to Smoky Robinson, listen to the Marvelettes even!! Don’t get me wrong, though, the original material that does end up on With the Beatles is pretty good. It’s juvenilia, but it’s pretty strong for 4 boys still learning how to be songwriters. Stronger than Hard Day’s Night in my opinion, although a lot more spotty than the non-album singles. It’s mostly growing pains, but it’s less transitional than it feels on the next couple records. I’d still argue With the Beatles is really only worth it for the opener, “All My Loving,” and “Don’t Bother Me.” After that, the boys are still too teeny bopper to maintain my interest, especially on Side B. It’s not the worst Beatles album, but it’s not painting them in a good light, either, and remains absolutely unessential.

I never cared a whole lot for early Beatles. Sorry fellas, it has not changed. I am not with the Beatles yet. I’ll wait for their souls to turn into rubber.

Not the biggest early Beatles fan, and this album is just simple, straight rock n’ roll, which I love. However, I prefer so many of their other albums in comparison. I know it’s borderline blasphemy to rank this so low given their impact, but judging on a curve compared to their other albums.

The first Beatles album I'm reviewing is pretty boring as a listener in 2024. Play a song off of this one next to one of the Beach Boys or Monkees tracks I reviewed previously, and I couldn't tell one from another. It's gonna take till projects post-Help pop up for me to really start digging these boys.

I definitely prefer the later Beatles sound. This is ok with a few classic tracks on it. It's a mixture of covers and self penned songs. 'All My Loving' is by far the best offering. The rest vary in quality but they all sound really sharp and undeniably iconic for the era. 2+ stars.

Of all the Bealtes studio albums, this is easily ranked dead last for me. And that doesn't mean its bad (Love Lennon's cover of Money - and McCartney's All My Lovinge and Harrison's Don't Bother Me). Early Beatles has nothing on creative/psychadelic Beatles. Also, this is the only Beatles album comprised mostly of covers. Of course, 99% of their catalogue is originals, so this album just doesn't do them justice in anyway shape or form.

Early Beatles is nursery rhyme tier. These guys are down so bad. They’re so thirsty for just a bit of human affection on every song on this album. Beatles pre-drugs are one of the most overrated and cap bands of all time. Beatles post-drugs are genre-defining, game-changing psychedelic pop. Sadly, this album falls in the former category.

Early Beatles. Nope. Get these guys some goddamn drugs. Mr. Postman was a number one hit by The Marvellettes in 1961. Seems weird that they are covering a song that was a hit just 2 years prior but okay. Roll Over Beethoven - Chuck Berry did it better in 1956. Till There Was You is a beautiful song, it's also a cover. Apparently 6 of the songs on this album are covers. Not sure why it's such an influential album when they didn't even write half the songs and this is only their 2nd album.

Pre-1966 Beatles walked so post-1966 Beatles could run. All of their earlier material is essential to understanding their eventual brilliance, but it’s undoubtedly far less enjoyable. Maybe I’m just not a fan of the LOVE smothering in every song or the Chuck Berry pastiches they initially relied upon to garner their stardom. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The two songs I liked: All My Loving and Till There Was You. Can't say anything else on here was, like, groundbreaking? I don't dislike The Beatles, but I've never understood their mass, years-long appeal. I'm sure someone will say that of the music stars of the 2010s/2020s in years to come.

The pop era of the Beatles isn’t my thing. I love their later work that is less trite and therefore more meaningful. But I gave this a listen anyway. My favorite song is “Money (That’s what I want)” as it showcases Lennon’s stronger, harder voice.

Not a huge Beatles fan. Probably shouldn't have bothered listening.

A bunch of covers and a disparate selection of songs does not an album make. Terrible (but sincere!) Chuck Berry cover is a low, All I've Got to Do is a high.

1n 1963 The Beatles were on the cusp but were certainly not world dominant. It would take Ed Sullivvan for that. But is this music 'tipping point' material? Absolutely not? Its tedious, nasal, predictable and quite uttely bland. But the haircuts on the cover were revolutionary. The idea of 'Beatlemania', 'the pop star', the teenager with disposable income were all part of the melting pot thaty indeed did create a tipping point. And the singles were absolutely top notch. 'All My Loving' was, for the time, op perfection. As was the marketing idea of starting to include singles on albums rahter than them being totally stand alone as had happened previously. Rubber Soul (was it 2 years later in 65?) was the first proper album. Up until then - this included - was a single or two padded with filler. Tellingly, the 'Lennon/McCartney' composoitions were also thin on the ground here. Second rate old fashioned rhythm and blues, rock n roll with trensdy haircuts and dapper suits. This was still the music of The Cavern and, remember, The Cavern was a dive.

Wow. This was Not Good. I would rather listen to The Everly Brothers, The Beach Boys, or actual Motown, rather than any of these derivatives. There's a song that my wife said was Paul and not John, and that song is OK I guess.

Oh man. After listening for the first time in a VERY long time, I'm beginning to understand why Brian Wilson was perceived as such a genius. Most of these songs are just terrible. And John Lennon really did not like women. I really love their later stuff so I don't really know what to make of this...

“With the Beatles” is from a time before albums as we understand them, back when they were just a vessel to carry singles and filler tracks. It is also the weakest release in the discography of the most acclaimed band of all time. It suffers in large part because it is compared to later albums where the goal was to record a coherent piece and not a slapdash recording to cash in on a brief window of fame, and because everything around it is great. It’s also just not particularly good, and if this was by a band that didn’t have “The Beatles” as their name it would’ve been forgotten a long time ago.

I really am not fond of the covers – ruins the album for me.

Every time I see that I rolled a Beatles' album I let out an audible groan. And every time I tell myself "Give it a fair chance and stay focused." I'm sure you can guess what happens next. I feel that if I was a more contemporary Beatles' fan, this would've been one of my more highly-regarded albums. But since I wasn't, and I'm not, it isn't.

The Beatles…hmm Do people still like the Beatles? What was it like hearing them on the radio? People probably enjoyed it then more than I do now.

How anyone could rate this collection of low effort poorly performed covers 5 stars is a mystery to me. Their original songs on this record bare some merit, but are similarly lackluster and in my opinion, boring. The Beatles would go on to inspire and shape music as we know it, but only because many other more talented artists were overlooked while they were put on a pedestal.

Yep, that's old Beatles. Usually used to hearing it from snippets of live footage completely being drowned out by screaming girls. Very much of its time, early rock and roll. Hard to imagine this being any sort of counter culture, it sounds so painfully family friendly. Breezed by fairly quickly but there's nothing to get excited about.

As this list has gone on I've enjoyed The Beatles more and more, however this album is not one of their best. Their lyrics and sound is pretty generic. I liked a few tracks and the runtime is so short that I can forgive it but most of the songs are written espeically for women. Highlights: It Won't Be Long Please Mister Postman Money (That's What I Want)

Feels a little amateur considering I just listened to Rubber Soul two days ago. Who knew there would be so much Beatles on here.

Eh. An extra star for "All My Loving." I don't think this has aged well outside of Beatles fandom. The covers aren't as good as the originals, and reflect the period in which white artists co-opted songs by artists of color. Also, I understand the history of it, but the left/right separation is truly awful.

I love the Beatles this isn't my favourite album.

Oof, this is likely my least favorite Beatles record. There are hints of greatness, the melodies on 'All My Loving' and 'Don't Bother Me' and quite a few vocal harmonies, but nothing ever quite evolves into a truly great song. The cover of 'Devil In Her Heart' comes close to greatness, and the covers of 'Please Mister Postman' and 'Roll Over Beethoven' provide some much energy halfway through the record. But the musicianship of the Fab Four doesn’t quite hold up on these fast-paced tracks, and especially Harrison's solos are surprisingly painful.

2/5. Sure some good songs on her but overall a pretty boring album. Half of these songs are covers so not great, and the other half, although original, only a few stand out as classics. The others are throwaways. I understand it’s the Beatles but even on its own, it’s just okay.

For a 60's album this has a massive 50's vibe. Some good tracks and generally all listenable but I prefer later, more polished Beatles.

This was the UK's second ever million selling LP (after the South Pacific soundtrack). Massively popular and influential. But is it really that great to listen to now? I own this record, but I don't think I ever pulled it off the shelf in preference to other Beatles records. This deserves to be on the 1001 list, but not even nearly my favorite Beatles album. But it's the Beatles, you know?

Streaming services only having the stereo version sucks because that mix is shit. I listened again in mono but honestly the album ain't that good.

If they stopped after this album, the Beatles would've fallen off the face of the earth into obscurity. "With The Beatles" shambled so that "Abbey Road"/"Sergeant Pepper's.." could SPRINT.

I’ve always said the best Beatles songs are the ones that the girls didn’t scream at. This one was a screamer. Not a lot offered by the “fab four” here instrumentally. But I do enjoy some of the vocal melodies.

I know the Beatles are practically sacred, but I looked through my previous ratings and I like everything I gave a 3 better than this. So here we are.

I’ve never really been a fan of the Beatles despite their popularity and I think this album just sums up my feelings. I imagine the Beatles were probably making very different music to others in the 60’s and that can be seen be some of their top hits on ‘Abbey Road’ but this album doesn’t sound much different to some of the stuff on the Buddy Holly record I was given to listen to a few days ago and I said the same about that record, although there is a classic sound to both albums, the majority of songs are fairly basic in their instrumental patterns and incredibly repetitive to the point where you can guess what the chorus is going to sound like just based off the title alone, actually re listening now I think every songs chorus is just the title of the track repeated with not even anything more added. There was some nice instrumental choices on tracks such as ‘Little Child’ and ‘Roll Over Beethoven’ and some cool vocal inflections throughout but there was nothing about this album that made me want to come back to it. Would just like to add that for some reason on Spotify the vocals were coming through the right headphone whilst the instrumental the left, I only found it happening with this album and it made the listening experience a bit strange.

Klar. Es sind die Beatles. Meilenstein, Legenden, Einmalig etc. pp. Aber halt einfach so gar nicht mein Genre. Also zwei Sterne aus Respekt, aber das ist nix, was ich mir privat anhören würde.

It's alright. I don't vibe too much with it. The mix doesn't work well on headphones since the vocals are almost entirely towards the right, and all the interesting instrumental stuff happens on the far left.

2.5 I’m generally pretty hit or miss when it comes to the Beatles. Lately I’ve been leaning more towards hit as I’ve enjoyed the last few albums we’ve listened to (short of most of the white album). ‘With The Beatles’, however, despite having a few of my favorite Beatles singles, is mostly a miss for me. This is the first time that the bubble gum love songs sounded really phoned in and formulaic. Maybe I’d feel differently if I was a teenage girl in the 60s, sadly though, I’m not. I never felt like I was the target audience. Also, most of the time no one sounded like they were quite on the same page, nor were they performing very well in general. The cover of ‘Please Mr. Postman’ is iconic, but ELO did roll over Beethoven waaay better. The back half is a cool break in the formula, depicting internal conflicts of new and old loves, which is when I felt like the album made any real attempt to branch out and relate to its audience. By the time it was over, I feel like it ended right when it was getting started, leaving me mostly disappointed. Favorites: It Won’t Be Long, All My Loving, Please, Mr. Postman, Hold Me Tight, Devil in Her Heart

2 And for our 100th album, it’s another Beatles album… and an early one at that. While I’ve already said my peace on early Beatles albums, I guess I can admit I enjoyed this one slightly more than a Hard Day’s Night. Hell, I might go as far as to say I kind of enjoyed All I’ve Got To Do, despite its cheesiness. As a whole I feel like I’m less offended by the bubble gumminess, though it did start wearing on me at the end. Maybe I’m just less (or more) jaded than I used to be. Probably wouldn’t listen again, but I guess I didn’t completely hate it. At least it wasn’t long. Also random factoid - this album dropped the same day Kennedy was assassinated. So by default, I guess this wasn’t the worst thing to happen on that day in history (though the CIA might beg to differ).

I get it. The Beatles are slaves to the system at this point and have to crank out several records a year. So this is a pretty slight record. All My Loving is really good though. This is also top tier Beatles album covers though

Nie słuchało się źle, ale nic mi nie zapadło w pamięć po nawet kilku przesłuchaniach. Muzyka jest wesoła, lekka, liryka raczej nieskomplikowana, imo zahacza o banał miejscami, co niby współgra z radosnym brzmieniem całości, ale nadal trochę tu moim zdaniem jest za mało. Ogólnie powiedziałbym, że jest to album dość przeciętny jak na Beatlesów, ale zdecydowanie się da tego słuchać w tle, ale chyba tylko w tle. Myślę, że 2.5-3/5 byłoby słuszną oceną, ale jeśli to konkurs najlepszych albumów wszechczasów, to raczej taka przeciętność nie powinna się pojawiać. No i na pewno pojawią się jeszcze inne, lepsze i bardziej \"rewolucyjne\" albumy.

Nudy na pudy. Mało co aż mogę powiedzieć. Tak se przeleciało. Beatlesów naprawdę lubię, ale płytka ma stałe brzmienie, niestety mało pasjonujące. Lirycznie to też nie powala w wielu przypadkach. Co innego odsłuchać tej płyty w roku wydania, co innego teraz. Dałbym 2.5, ale w obliczu kilku dużo lepszych albumów Beatlesów, jakimi nas zarzuci challenge, leci 2.

Listening to this album is like eating pasta before you cook it. Some weird people enjoy it, almost too much, but the rest of us are more interested in the finished product. There are some catchy songs here, but nothing classic. Plenty of great harmonies and musical moments, but it fails to coalesce in the way most great albums do. It just feels a bit rushed and as if it's trying to manufacture success based off of their previous sales.

A long way from my favourite Beatles album

All my loving, Postman, Beethoven and Money are great, but I'm not particularly impressed with the other songs - very so-so. I don't think the Beatles hit their stride until their third LP, the awesome Hard Days Night.

Early signs of the Beatles are within, but essentially in the form of vocal harmonies. There are a couple of tunes I recognize. Decent enough pop listening, but mostly an introduction to the rest of the band's discography.

Can hardly believe I'm giving this score, but if wasn't for the Beatles name it might even be lower, found this album boring and dated, all my loving has a bit of foot tapping to it, but have to be objective

Never been crazy about early Beatles stuff. I get how important these albums are from a historical point of view, but musically it just doesn't do it for me.

Incredibly annoying

It fell flat for me. The energy felt lame. It really did feel like a boy band aimed at the teen. Maybe I wasn’t there target audience. Maybe I am just not into the beetles’ earlier work.

Still during the early period where half the songs were original, the others were covers. This record doesn't really stand out for me. It's better than the stagnant "For Sale," but I like Please Please Me and A Hard Day's Night better. So, this one is great but it's sandwiched between better records. What I like about these early records is that you can hear Lennon's talent and leadership. He was the frontman in the early years. "All I've Got To Do" is one of my favorite Beatles harmonies from the early years. I can't wait to rate A Hard Day's Night. Assuming it's on the list. Ha. Rating this one as it compares in the Beatles catalog (catalogue?).

Pretty forgettable pop from the era. I'm also not a big cover-song kinda guy, and I really had to resist the urge to skip those tracks. Regardless of the musical shifts they made over time, I've never been a huge fan of the Beatles. This didn't change anything for me.

It's no Revolver.

This may have been truly transformative for the time, but to my ear listening this for the first time it sounds like generic bubble gum pop-y music. Very much not a fan. Each song sounds exactly like the others. Melodies and lyrics are uninteresting and empty. I feel like I'm watching a commercial. Maybe Pepsi? "Money that's what I want" could be the commercial music for some new stock brokerage. Just cutesy background filler noise.

Not a great Beatles album

I've never really loved the Beatles, especially their earlier work, and unfortunately this album reflects that. I can appreciate what the Beatles did for rock and the impact they had on society, but this album didn't push the needle that much for me.

I love the Beatles but these are not my jam, especially the remastered versions...

i think one of the great appeals of the beatles story is they span the era before and after the counterculture movement, representing the change in the zeitgeist from a fearful and conformist postwar milieu to a hopeful era of possibility for a better world, when as thompson said the boomers "had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave." at least until "the wave finally broke and rolled back." also there's a transition era where the beatles were just the kinks. this album is a firm showing of the part of the 60s where everything still sucked. i cant stand hearing them do motown covers, guess some imitation of black america had to happen for the british invasion to come to be though

Meh. Kinda boring to me to be honest I didn't even want to finish it, I made it to the 6th track. I'm not knocking what they did for the music scene as a whole, The Beatles generally just aren't for me. I think I'll be OK without fully listening to this one before I die.

The Beatles may not be my thing, but I've still been able to give their albums 3s for being important and/or at least having catchy jingles. Until now. I honestly don't feel this album clears either of the two aforementioned hurdles. The only passable tracks are covers done better by others. Considering the Beatles already have sufficient, more relevant representation on this list, I would definitely pitch this one. Hard.

Liked reallllyyyy 2 songs 1. All I've got to do 2. You really got a hold on me Album wise not enjoyable for me, I am not content. Song wise decent songs not my type but even though not my type I felt like it was hard to listen. And I thought I would like almost every song if I heard them separately. So yeah 1/5. Sorry I am not made for everything, everything is not for everyone.
