Da e kje heilt for meg

Completely Unimpressionable

Was okay. Not super impressed by the music. 2.5/5 Probably wont listen again

I had Funeral on heavy rotation when it came out. I was so excited when they released Neon Bible. But it never grabbed me. It felt like a classic sophomore effort - the same sound, but the songs just weren't nearly as crafted as those on the debut. I hadn't listened to it for 20 years. And my opinion holds. Intervention is a great pop song. The rest of it sounds like angsty jam sessions.

sounds very ... 1970s? like, if i were busy smoking up in my girlfriend's parents' backyard while hawking my spraycan art on the street once or twice a month and never showering, i'd probably really dig it, man

It's alright? I'm not really into Arcade Fire

Not my typa shindig.

This album is for somebody, but this ain't for me.

Not really my jam. Somehow indie arena rock is just not a thing for me.

Couple of songs were g8 but overall not really my cup of tea

Very mid

Eh. Not my style honestly

didnt really interest me

in the mid 2000s america stopped producing good bands and gave us two bob phantom of the opera tribute acts. at best it sounds like a haunted hipster carnival/circus

It’s a different animal to ‘Funeral’, but this album walked so ‘The Suburbs’ could run…

It was alright, very over the top sounding. It wasn't very memorable, I've heard a few Arcade Fire songs prior to listening to this album, they were better than this. Maybe they got better over time?

Fun, energetic Album. Morning drive or commute worthy tunes.

Not a fan

Didn't suck, but was immediately forgettable.

it sounds too repetitive to me

here lies, l a u r a r i n t o u l born: folsom prison live died: elephant white stripes slain in action, valiantly battling terrible albums rest in peace i lay down my wreath and say a prayer. what point now is there in carrying on? the goofy bit that i like the sound of my own voice isnt so funny to me now that no one is actually listening. now im just a sad little boy listening to frank black on the bus all alone! an album that i only know through laura! who will forget such classic album reviews as: Elephant The White Stripes sososososso goddam boring 1 i could not have said it better myself! laura will be forever remembered as someone who used this platform for good - what it was actually made for; reviewing albums. i used it for recording manic episodes and finding revolutionary new ways to not have sex. shes in heaven now, making music that probably sounds like having ones head slammed into a concrete floor repeatedly, but in a cathartic and beautiful kind of way. god bless her and all who sail in her. amen

Sounds too much like the other albums. Hard to judge on our own merit.

Didn’t like this album-the sound of it isn’t for me, I think. The sound mix is muddy, leading to some songs having an odd dynamic between vocals and instrumental. Lyrically it’s pedestrian whining about life in a way that I find grating. These are personal reactions, musically the bad is quite competent and I can see why others would like it, which is why it is two stars not one.

Parit hitit sieltä tunnisti, ekaa kertaa varmaan kuuntelin albumin. Koitin kahesti kuunnella, mut ei kyl lähteny. 2/5.

It was like listening to nothing.

Can leave this more than I can take it.

After a brilliant debut album, this sophomore effort was a complete letdown. I've seen Arcade Fire 4 times and not once have they played a single song fro this album. Pretty much says all you need to know about it.

This was okay. A little on the slow side for me but there a tracks I can see myself playing again on occasion. 2

2/5 Best: No Cars Go Worst: Intervention

Very hot or miss, but mostly miss

so boring ngl not bad, but i’ll never listen to it again actually it was kinda bad

Love the music, hate the lyrics. Super hipster stuff. I enjoyed Intervention though.

Pretty good actually

I know this band is huge but I’ve never understood the appeal. This album felt like a boring soundtrack to a boring indie movie.

This has made next to no impression on me. Cannot get remotely excited about this

I don’t think I really care for arcade fire . I thought I would but it’s not really for me

Da e kje heilt for meg

Muy repetitivo y sentí q muchas veces las melodías no pegaban con la letra y no tenía mucho sentido, entonces no es de mi agrado

Ehhh If you like pretentious, pompous, bland, boring, unimaginative, uncreative mediocre indie rock then you'll love it.

Very indie/punk. Not something I find on my own. Im not disliking it, but I haven’t heard a song that I want to listen to again.

Album 3 from Arcade Fire... and I think I kind of get it. Early on in this record, I mentally drew a comparison to U2's grandiosity. It's aiming for the cheap seats in the arena, and much like U2, I think it's all pomp and no circumstance, to turn a phrase. It's fine, and I appreciate the varied instrumentation on this record, but it's all just so... pretentious. Favorite tracks: "Black Wave / Bad Vibrations", "No Cars Go"

Had a really hard time caring about this one. As I listened, I kept wishing I was listening to other albums, including the first Arcade Fire joint, which is much better, IMO. More interesting. Better produced. So, this one: a whole lotta meh.

Bland indie band that sounded like nothing but also like mid 2000s bland indie bands. Sylvia and I gave this a go in a car ride while our conversation was engaging so maybe my focus was lacking? But we would come back to the music and chat about it during the listen and he looked forward to spinning Beyoncé after we powered through.

Some decent moments but overall not my thing

it's been a while since i've heard some of these overplayed singles. never really a fan of arcade fires schtick anyway so by the 3rd album i'm particularly bored of it.

Very boring and basic

Pretentious music

I have tried for years with this album and this band - I wish I could figure out or better-explain why it is I don't like this, or them. I tried again this morning and I wanted to dig something specific out but I just can't - I think there's a lot around the rotten and muddy mix* where I can't really hear the individual instruments very well, perhaps a great dose of the overly-faux-eager but not very good vocals that irritate me, or just that I don't connect with any of the songs whatsoever. I could see how one could make the case of this being this grandiose album but I hear it as utterly overblown and overwrought pablum. * (this mix feels like it's by design - a soundscape to perhaps give an effect or mood rather than focus on any particular part; frankly it sounds like there's a pillow over every microphone giving a "soft" feel to it all. If so, ok that's art of course - but to me it's terribly distracting and puts a dull cloud over it all. Not sure if I'd like it more with a clear distinct sound but it wouldn't hurt.) It's not ... horrible; I've heard a lot that I like considerably less, but it is a chore to get through. Flat-out I think this experiment can end without any grand proclamation, other than I just don't enjoy or like Arcade Fire. 3/10 2 stars.

Pomposity to the fore, rather than songwriting or melody. Only the mighty James Murphy made them sound interesting rather than just another dull as ass American Indie band moaning about something. Cannot understand how high a regard this is held in

cheesy americans

I would go like 2.4. so if this arcade fire album is on here, how many others will there be?

Was not a fan

I was indifferent about this album. A few decent songs (No Cars Go, Ocean of Noise) peppered in with a bunch of otherwise forgettable filler tracks. Didn’t really care for the vocals. I read some other reviews of the album and it sounds like they put on a great live show, and there are apparently several other albums that are very highly touted. Maybe they’ll make me listen to another one, until then….

Eh. It is just there. Nothing great about it. I listened to it while grocery shopping so I guess it better than grocery store music. However, if one does not hear the grocery store music, how can one know that this album was better? No need to listen to this again.

Every time I hear an Arcade Fire album it makes me want to sit in my garage and “Keep the Car Running”

Wow, this was unexpectedly bland. I enjoyed the other two albums I got on here from these folks… this one is a serious sophomore slump if I’ve ever heard it. It felt like they were just going through the motions of writing songs without any good ideas to put in them. It wasn’t entirely terrible to listen to, but I wouldn’t spin it again.

Woof. This one is very far from when I originally listened to it and enjoyed it. A couple of strong tracks, but pretty dreadful as a project.

This album sucks!

Arcade Fire fall at the center of a Venn diagram with many overlapping circles: "mediocre," "bland," "arrogant," "wearing their influences on their sleeves," "worshipping other mediocre artists." They really embodied a lot of the worst elements of mid-2000s indie rock scene. They didn't hit the lows of Foster the People or Mumford and Sons, but short of being industry plants like those garbage factories, they were pretty miserable. This is another album that has been scrubbed from my version of the list, so I don't know the authors' justification for including it, but judging from the entry they wrote about Funeral, it wouldn't be the sort of inspirational write-up that would make me reconsider my dismissal of this dreck. Listening to this is a chore.

Arcade Fire on paper is exactly who I want to listen to. However, this album sucks. I don't understand why it's in the list. The Suburbs is a thousand times better. The best song on here is My Body Is A Cage, and it wasn't even released as a single.

Found the whole album to be pretty bland and repetitive. It makes good background music. All in all, pretty forgettable. 2/5

Not a lot I am Viborg with but a few tracks are a solid v8be, somewhere in the range 9f how i felt about Talking Heads and PaulcCartney and Wings.

Never really understood the hype

Zeer monotoon, beetje war on drugs saaiheid.

Beetje lauwtjes allemaal.

Not really for me. Have tried them before and it hasn't clicked

Sapal.

This was a bit of a miss for me, just a bit flat. Which I wasn’t expecting from the Arcade fire. I really liked their earlier album.

they said among us in one of the songs not really my type. standout so far is keep the car running. will maybe listen to again to get a real feel for it. the well and the lighthouse is also good. overall it was kind of boring. reminded me of the killers but not as good.

I had heard of this group before but I couldn't name any of their songs. I was excited to check them out and the album got off to a decent start but I quickly lost interest and discovered that their music isn't my thing. I don't think that it is awful, just not my favorite type of music.

Music for basic white men bitches. I don't know, man. It just sounds like every single indie artist of the 2010's with that whiny forlorn, yet aloof "cool artist guy" sound. Meh.

Arcade Fire, One of my sons favourite bands, they are OK but don't see what the hype is about really. Pretty standard 2010's rock music here. I find it slightly repetitive and sub Talking Heads standard really. I liked "Keep The Car Running" Not on My List I am afraid

Didn't get much juice out of this lemon

Another winner for Arcade Fire. 2.5/5 first listen.

Vähä jotenki munaton vaikka moni mun kaveri bändiä diggaileekin

Notwist but a bit boring

I like a lot of these songs, separately. A little Arcade Fire goes a long way, and an entire album of their work can make you wish it was before the halfway point. The word "overblown" comes to mind.

Ogillade lyriken å musiken va boring

Känns själlöst, speciellt jämfört med deras första.

Meh. Overly dramatic and too much voice synth

meh, a lot of filler songs

I recognize a few of these songs, but I can't bring myself to care.

Pish! How do these albums keep making the list?!?!

I don't get it, i don't like this, it's very boring. And thanks to another reviewer the lead singer is trash.

Not for me

Not my type

J’ai pas accroché

no es mi estilo…

These guys again?

Did not enjoy this at all.

Hot garbanzo garbage

nose que tipo de musica es esta pero no me gusto nada, 0.

Not my cup of tea at all, intently, wannabe artsy, fuck off arcade fire. Giving this one star is way too much.

why is this app shoving arcade fire up my throat???

Didn’t like this at all. God knows why I’m having to endure a second Arcade Fire album. I wanted to give this a two, and point out that everything is done competently but the longer it went on the more it infuriated me. For me, it’s insulting that this is placed on the list next to some records that are in different leagues. I’m sure that can be said about a lot of albums here too. Maybe I’m just not receptive to it today, but I’ve got to be honest with myself and in approaching this list.

Bad, very bad. Just not good at all.

Not really into this, pretty watered down Christain rock it feels like.

I do not like this. At all. Why is this even on the list? At least The Black Album rocks.

Time to close the arcade.

I don't mind the actual music! For 'my body is a cage' the sound is actually very enticing. But jesus christ I hate the singer's voice and the lyrics is so repetitive and grumpy.

really couldn't vibe with this. the organ, the vocals. this indy 2000s stuff just isnt for me. it's atmospheric and melancholic but i need some energy or i guess something more interesting for me personally. i could see and know ppl into this but i can't get past some of the fundamental elements of this soundscape 1/5

Uninteresting and monotonous.

I didn’t hate all of it

Hated.Boring and annoying.

Nope. Creep.

Ridiculously boring.

nah. I understand a lot of people like these guys. I am not one of them. Their LP, "Funeral" was ok. I simply find nothing redeeming in their work.

You can clearly tell the band would end up where they have recently, musically speaking. In hindsight, it's mostly indie-pop slop with a lot of pseudo-intellectualism and sometimes overbearing noise and sonic elements that make the production value very weird to me. To address the big (pink) elephant in the room, it's impossible not to feel that it is disingenuous the way the band portrays its sound and themes, knowing what we know today about its lead singer. Oh, and by the way, I'm gonna die before I listen to any more of Win Butler singing.

pre one direction o david bowie chafa

The instrumentals on this album are mainly used to fill in the sound instead of driving the songs forward. This combined with the weak vocals make the album an absolute slog to get through.

Out of the 3 Arcade Fire albums I’ve listen to so far this one is the worst, and it actually makes me mad. I know that with 1001 albums on this list sone of them will be bad, but it seems like filler like this makes up half the list.

i didnt really hear anything special

Tremendamente malo. Ni me voy a molestar en detallar todo lo que no me gustó.

previously only listened to my body is a cage on this album - so far do not like the first song "black mirror"- It is a bit too alternative for me. - this album is sooo boring I actually cannot. - its giving men with man buns and beards that open a burger shop.

kom knappt igenom första låten, så otroligt tråkig

millenial core

I understand why people compare this band to U2. They both have no soul.

Horrible

Did not understand the arcade fire hype then and do not understand it now.

Jedan od bendova za koji te ljuti da su stekli slavu, užasan album, užasan!! 1/5, 1/10

what kind of sick joke is it to listen to two arcade fire joints in one week? cmon dude

Nah not for me. Woke indie shit 0/10

Muddy and to self serious

This was crap

Boring as sin

Not in my wheelhouse.

This sht is ahh. A lot of the good reviews on this seem to be blinded by nostalgia. This sounds like the imagine dragons of whatever genre this is supposed to be.

sounds like a band that would have a dorky dress code on their tour

A real stinker. Self-serious dumb guy poetry to the highest degree. Chamber pop adjacent sound (already a hard sell) without any sense of humour or playfulness. Awful stuff, get outta here.

Not a fan

Meh Heard this one before seen them in concert Underwhelming before all the allegations against the singer, didn’t bother listening to again

Not for me

Fer fex sake, this is going to be awful and it was.

TS was mid

0/5. Mehhh!

worthless

Listened several times to this album. I wanted to hear something redeeming. But it just never clicked. There were some good riffs, but nothing great. It's a pass for me.

They have better songs. But the lead singer is cancelled now, right?

garbage

uhhhhh ok wakaflocka.gif

Not A Fan...Not my style of Music

Definitely my vibe, but something seems off about it. Like an amateur who has had no training in lyric writing and draws "inspiration" by copy/pasting from other songs and smashing them together. The music and vocals don't take their time. Every song feels rushed and improved.

"Neon Bible" is a confusing choice for one of the 1001 essential albums. Arcade Fire may have been early to the scene for indie rock, but when I think of indie rock classics, Arcade Fire does not even cross my mind. The songs feel the same, the instruments are distant, and overall I was waiting for this album to end.

Neon Bible is what I call "approximately". It is approximately pop, it is approximately rock, it is approximately indie. I can approximately understand what they're saying. It approximately sounds okay. I didn't know what to expect from Arcade Fire and they delivered nothing. The Well and the Lighthouse was nails on a chalkboard.

Don't get it.

Neon bible?! How about Neon Babble. The music is sonically fine and I can see why it was influential in creating the stomp/clap music like Mumford and Sons... or more like Blandford and Sons! I digress... But the lyrics on this album are just unbelievably cringy. Like, embarrassingly bad. I only made it to Black Wave/Vibrations before I just couldn't do it anymore. They sound like 15 year old trying to be clever but missing the mark. I would give this 0 stars if I could because of how bad the lyrics are. Would not listen again. Two thumbs down.

Listened while I did admin work…. It was so uncaptivating that I didn’t realize the album had ended and restarted.

Pretentious, repetitive, faux intellectual drivel

Dull Dull Dull

Just very dull! Couldn't finish.

Lol no way

Imagine dragons type shiii boring as fuck

Yawn. Next album, please.

1. Black Mirror: lots of paranoia, the overall feeling of being watched. The takeover of screens and the dependence on them is going to take over completely. Nobody can run away from it; the mirrors are everywhere and increasing as this was released in '07. This relates directly to the mass surveillance in the US, along with the rise of fascism and AI. This being the start, it paints a heavy and moody album ahead with outward dark themes. 2. Keep the Car Running: the Orwellian influence is so apparent, I think it was inspired by Why I Write and 1984, themes of dystopia and the political culture. The idea of patriotism and intelligence, the balance or everything crumbles. Thus far, I am not super into the drums and guitar here - it is very folk-indie, and it doesn't quite match. Like the ukulele here? Not sure. 3. Neon Bible: dealing with religion and culture, again inspired by a book - A Confederacy of Dunces. I do enjoy the critical view of holiness in the greed and corruption of politics/general culture. I don't love this track. Honestly, this album is giving "I'm so much morally better than you, and you should listen to my wisdom after I read some books that made me think." I don't know if that's justified, but that's how I feel. 4. Intervention: talking about the War on Terrorism and criticizing the politicians for lying and continuing to push everyone else down. The haunting patriotism and the chimes, consistent beating drums feel like an army instrumental. "Every spark of friendship and love will die without a home." The trauma that soldiers face when they come back, the inability to reintegrate into society. For what? For their life to fall apart under the name of "God"? "Been working for the Church while your life falls apart" -- all of this disaster and tragedies under the name of the State, which claims to be serving God. 5. Black Wave/Bad Vibrations: a reference to "Good Vibrations" about creating a new self and future. "Ce sera un long voyage sur les vagues de l'oubli." When Win Butler comes in, it kinda destroys what was built in the beginning. Also, talking about eating in the ghetto with an expensive plate... didn't land with me. I get the sentiment, but it could've been worded differently IMO. I like the outro a lot. Buildup is great on this song. 6. Ocean of Noise: this song is hitting another symbol apparent in this album of the ocean as a lack of control in life. The noise here is consumerism and propaganda. Especially nowadays, people get lost in their tailored feeds and fake news. They are lost in the noise of the internet, and we opened Pandora's Box, especially with AI. I am haunted by how closely this ties to how I feel about the state of the world currently. The piano is super heavy and sonically consequential feeling. The end feels like accepting the chaos of life and the massive ocean that we all exist in. "Time to work it out," along with strings/horns that feel more upbeat and light. Optimistic ending. 7. The Well and the Lighthouse: about a person who made decisions leading to ruin, following malice because of their poor decisions. I'm not sure what this track is doing on this album? "You always fall for what you desire or what you fear" is an interesting lyric here before the switch-up of rhythm/melody. The strings are so beautiful in this switch-up. I'm confused about this one and the message behind it, maybe I'm missing something... 8. [Antichrist Television Blues]: this song is inspired by Joe Simpson using his daughter Jessica Simpson, increasingly worse abuse. Super creepy reality of her horrible trauma with her father. Sacrificing his daughter and her well-being for fame and fortune under the guise of the Lord. The reference to the mockingbird lullaby is so gross, and fits how her father justified his actions. There are heavy biblical references, I am not well-versed enough to point them all out. The end is abrupt as fuck. 9. Windowsill: carrying potential pain from living with the singer's father, metaphorical or not, it could also be about the beliefs that the family held. "I don't wanna fight in a holy war"; "I don't wanna live in America anymore" - the way this is still the feeling almost 20 years later. The impact of TV and media, along with consumerism and propaganda, takes away his view from his windowsill (the way he perceives the world?). The message on this song captures exactly how I've been feeling about the world, anticipating another world war, and the incessant ads/propaganda fed to us. 10. No Cars Go: very big shift in energy from the last one. This is upbeat and joyous, I love the drums and guitar riff on this. I think the "heys" could've been left out, kinda reminds me of the Lumineers lol. I do enjoy the lyrics about knowing a place where you can truly escape the corruption and terrors of the world today. I'm wondering if that place is sleep, a place where the luxuries of civilization are obsolete. Lyrics are so basic and kinda don't have much substance in my opinion. I agree with a comment on Genius that a 12-year-old could've written these lyrics... This song dragged on for way too fucking long. I was cringing the last few minutes, I had a hard time sitting through it. 11. My Body is a Cage: drum beat reminds me of a pulse, pipes are haunting, and that organ is too. This song delves into the mental struggles of anxiety and the mind holding one back from their potential/what would make them happy. I think I've heard this one in Euphoria, and it was such a heavy song that fit well. This song is relatable as someone with extreme mental health issues. I feel like the music builds to an anxiety attack or total shutdown. I don't feel strongly about this album. I get what they were going for, but it just gives a false higher morality vibe, and that contradicts all the messages in the song. It doesn't flow through super well, and I just think it's alright. I would not listen again. He just kinda cringes me out, icky vibes from him. Turns out he's a creep!

reddit

This album was so unenjoyable that it caused me to temporarily abandon this project after over a year of consistent listening. I always try to listen through the whole album, but I just have to give this one star and move on

I hate Arcade Fire

1 stern

Boring

If they’re giving out awards for “most overrated band”, these guys are up there along with U2 and Coldplay. This is a finely polished turd

whole lotta yapping. like shut up brother

Too much drama

There is nothing new here, I see no value in this record.

One album you mustn't listen to. Absolute crap.

Sounds like Imagine Dragons if they were a Christian Rock band

"Arcade Fire - I liked their album that came up earlier. I wonder why I'm finding this one kinda boring and annoying...". {checks review of Funeral} "Oh. Never mind".

This was another band that passed me by in the early 2000s for some reason. Initial impressions were that this was by the numbers indie rock with a heavy Coldplay influence, but as it went on it grew more irritating. They threw what sounded like a choir of children into the mix but it was the singer’s voice that had a wheedling ‘please feel some emotions’ vibe to it. Anyhoo, turns out he’s a massive online sex pest, so this album can get in the bin.

Fairly convinced I'm not going to like this. Sounds like a bunch of hipster church kids formed a band. Someone take that bell away from the kid.

Terrible cover artwork. And I find this sort of thing a bit tiresome. Sounds like indie-by-numbers, mashing together all the 'best' bits of various other bands. It feels calculated and empty. Throw that into the new world where not only has every band that every existed reformed and gone on a reunion tour, but at least one member of any given band will have a skeleton that will pop out of its closet at some point and it's hard to just enjoy this as music, given that backdrop, whether true or not.

Chirst. I fucking hate this indie shite.

Just not for me.

Boring!

not my fave

I can find no reason to recommend this to anyone.

I feel like Jean Girard after watching Highlander. I continue to be baffled by the hype around this band. So far it's the best album I've heard from Arcade Fire. It's like Bruce Springsteen but bad, boring and forced through a 2000s hipster filter.

Yuk!!!

Not good

3.67 rym indie di merda 1/5

overblown, pseudo-dramatic, like a goth ELO, with hints of U2 and occasional nursery rhyme melodies.

Wasn’t a fan of their style

What a load of crap.

Terrible

I used to love them but after learning he’s a d*ck and part of the Me Too problem o can’t support that

That was bad, like terrible. I hit play... Skip... Skip... Skip... And stop... No thank you.

Horrible and uninteresting.

Denso, aburrido y pretencioso.

Not For Me...

The music was OK but the lyrics were disgraceful

I like Ocean of Noise. The rest of the album just feels like an ocean of noise

Black Mirror sets the tone with a real pop vibe - something I'm not a fan of. Kept the car running - Happy Clappy crap. Neon Bible - slow and ok Intervention - dreadful It drones on and on, track by track, in the same vein. Not for me. It's a 1 star

Black Mirror: 4/10 mid Keep the Car Running: 6/10 best song ig Neon Bible: 4/10 Intervention: 3/10 what is happening here Black Wave / Bad Vibrations: 5/10 Ocean of Noise: 5/10 The Well and the Lighthouse: /10 (Antichrist Television Blues): /10 Windowsill: /10 No Cars Go: /10 My Body Is a Cage: /10

Do they want to be Bowie or Springsteen? Can see this album being the soundtrack of an angsty teen movie. Over the top and not enjoyable.

Nothing Bible.

bok gibi

No thanks.

Nix für mich

Not for me.

Annoying voice, sry

Day24 - i’ve heard of arcade fire but not their music and it’s not for me. every generation has their moody music but this is pretty terrible

I hated it. I’ve had a terrible run these first 4 days haha

sexual abuser

Not a fan at all. The singing comes off monotone and the music behind it never catches me. It quickly became background noise

Not my taste

extra boring U2

Aww...C'mon! I call bullshit. I have to question the validity of this list when we've had two Arcade Fire albums in two weeks, but nothing from Fugazi, The Minutemen, Dinosaur Jr., etc. Do better, Album Generator. Do Better.

I have tried to like Arcade Fire for years, but it still has never resonated with me.

Big miss for me. I am typically not into the whiney singer sound, and this album had it in spades. Alot of the sounds were... i dont know generic? I zoned out most of the album. I do like My Body is a Cage, but thats about it.

it's giving cold hotdog water, but the album flows alright

💩. Lyrics sound like they were wrote by a 7th grader trying to write above their skill level. Sometimes a female vocalist sings and it's okay.

Boring

No thanks!

The rare all skips album. Full of songs I would take as an opportunity to use the bathroom at a concert. Every song has at least one motif that bugged me. Like the same three notes on a chime at the end of every like. Perfect for walking at midnight after a middle school breakup

Not for me. Wasn’t expecting them to sound like that however. Still wanted the album to be over for the last 3/4 of it.

Despite being relatively recent, there wasn't much in here that I liked or felt was truly original. This album could have been from "U2" and I wouldn't have guessed any differently. First because it has a religious theme and secondly because there is a lot of borrowing going on in here. Without surprise this band came to relevance from being front-runners for U2. I have a fear that this list will be a bit too america-centric. There are some genres which hold a lot more importance to the north american audience (e.g. country) which will earn them positions on this list without being a musical novelty. Similarly there is a marketing issue of north americans waking up to a style only once it has been done by a north american band. I feel that's the case here.

Listened to 1/2 Not into the indie-style

Wynn Butler sucks. Next.

Ach, das sind Arcade Fire? Will ich nie wieder hören müssen.

Sucks balls

Dreary, tiresome dirge-pop. Use your time more productively by cleaning your shower out.

Shittiest band on earth makes a perfect soundtrack to wish to die faster

I don’t know what it is but I really don’t like Arcade Fire. The last album ‘The Suburbs’ didn’t quite hit home and this sank even lower. I think the chord progression they use just isn’t for me, or it’s too cheerful sounding or something. I wanted to like it, but for the whole album I just couldn’t wait for it to be over, and I wanted to skip every song. I think this is also the first album I rate 1 star even though the production and sound is actually good. Here it’s just the music that really don’t work for me.

I'll be honest. Though I actually think they're overrated, I'm dropping an extra start because Wyn Butler turns out to be a massive, misogynist douchebag. And he's about as Canadian as July 4th.

Arcade fire needs to be shot for this

Had some hope that this might be better than ‘Funeral’ after the first couple of songs. Newsflash: it’s not. It’s as pretentious, overdone, dramatic and whiny as ‘Funeral’ if not more. It’s a hard pass from me.

Meh. Will forever be remembered as the song (not album) that opened U2's indoor "Elevation Tour" concerts. The band got lucky...

Sorta forgetable

Not my music, too simple

This is music? Really? It's the most boring music I have ever heard.

Man, this really is just an "Ocean of Noise", huh? Really not good, and the addition of a member being an assaulter? Man, easy to hate this. It's pretty funny that this bad mix of Mumford & Sons and Modest Mouse is on here three times, yet nothing by either is on here. Not that I'm dying for Mumford & Sons to be on here, but all this feels like to me is indie rock with too much of a budget.

Arcade Fire are a band at the front and centre of the appalling, dismal state of music in the early 2000s. This album, coming in around 2007, does not do anything positive towards shedding that early-2000s plague of pompous overindulgence. It's ostentatious, pretentious and generally not pleasurable to listen to. I straight up don't enjoy it.

Technically terrific album. Plenty of talent and a great sound. But I'm a no. I'll side with against this-- again. https://www.mcgilldaily.com/2022/11/a-reckoning-within-the-arcade-fire-fandom/

Abuser. Whiner. Did not listen.

Fucking corny

this isn't even in the top 1000 albums of the 00s
