This is maybe the fifth or sixth best Radiohead album (IMO), and it's still a pretty easy 5/5. Favorite track is maybe "There There", but there are plenty other contenders.
It felt like a combination of U2, Pink Floyd, and Depeche Mode to me. I really enjoyed the spaciousness and darkness of the album. There’s great range both in the album overall and in individual songs. The SFX and percussion are really cool! I really don’t have anything negative to say about this album!
Dope! Most underrated Radiohead album.
Soft 5
A bit of a schizo RH album which recovers some of the guitar led more rock content of their earlier days in some of the strongest songs like There, There and 2+2 = 5 and yet has others which are out of the Kid A / Amnesiac vein. But for lack of overall coherency (and tbh who cares) there's still much that shines much more brightly than any contemporary including one of my favourite RH songs, Sail The Moon, written by Thom Yorke for his baby son at the time.
The album's blend of electronic and traditional instruments is a welcome change and resonates even years after its release.
Gained a whole new appreciation for this album on this listen through.
10/10 making me wanna act like a 14 year old who was born in the wrong generation
cool
Increíble Albúm !!
Awesome
The first record here is an all time great from a formative era. I bought the album the day of release and flew to Montreal for the concert tour the weekend I turned 20 in 2003.

2+2=5. Love the transition between I Will and A Punch Up at a Wedding.
One of the best Radiohead albums, follow up to the kid A amnesiac combo.
It’s a perfect album. I can come back to this often and still hear something new each time I do. I wrote it off when it first came out as I was hoping for more like The Bends and every album after OK Computer just felt too left field. In my defence, I was very young. Now I’m delighted by how timeless and enjoyable a listen this is, along with the other less-indie records.
So good! The songwriting is so unique. I never got really deep into this album definetly need to listen several more times. Favorite songs are “myxamatosis,” there there”and “2 +2 =5.”
Some of Yorke’s best lyrics. What a poet! Faves were Sail To the Moon, Where I End and You Begin, and We Suck Young Blood. I know this album is supposed to mainly be a political commentary album but his lyrics are so great, you could really associate these songs with anything happening in life.
i love this album front to back. there’s a constant ebb and flow of mellow and frantic that never gets tired of boring. a long album yes. it’s weird, eerie, and memorable. a blue print for electronic guitar rock. radiohead at their finest!!
Oh lord have mercy, I've joined the Radiohead bandwagon.
This album is criticized by the band for being a bit too bloated, Thom Yorke even wrote a revised track list. However, as Jonny Greenwood stated, I believe that this album helped them work through some musical ideas and bridges the Kid A/Amnesiac period with In Rainbows. This album is a return to more guitar driven music which reflects the angry and paranoid mood of the album brought about by the end of the 90s, the 2000 US election, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. It contains some of their best tracks and still flows very well. Overall I would rank this in Radiohead’s middle tier, but that still puts it at a five.
I remember my first time listening to this album I didn't like it. But slowly a track will pop up randomly and I'll fall in love with it. This kept happening until like half of the songs I now love so much. There, There, A Wolf At the Door, 2+2=5, Sail to the Moon. All of those tracks are examples of just me slowly becoming appreciative of the music.
I've already spent the last two decades fucking in love with this album. Good suggestion!
Love radiohead.
This was the first Radiohead album I was old enough to be excited about prior to its release. I even had a poster of the album cover in my room (pretty cool). This album encapsulated the fear and gloom in the world in the wake of 9/11 and the failings of the Bush administration. It has some songs which can only be described as frightening - literally one song is about fatal rabbit disease. I love the way many of the songs build up and change tempo and structure, like you don’t know what hides behind each corner. I think this one often gets overlooked because of where it sits in the bands overall progression and the fact that they didn’t set out to do anything overly groundbreaking, but in many ways this one was groundbreaking in that they just brought together everything they’d developed to that point in merging rock and electronic and made it sound completely organic. That is the hidden beauty of this album, it’s possibly the most tangible thing Radiohead has released.
Un bijou! Je l'écoute depuis mon enfance
First half I found a little inaccessible on first listen, partly due to me finding Thom Yorkes voice slightly grating, partly due to me giving it a half arsed listen at work. The second half was glorious and felt like a wonderful catharsis for the first half. On second listen it all came together for me. Whilst I wouldn't exactly call it a cohesive album, there is a clear flow between tracks and each track serves a greater purpose within the context of the album. Real good album, probs my fav of the Radiohead albums I've listened to. Any Radiohead album that is not inundated with Yorkes wailing goes down better with me. 4.5/5 Fav track: There, There
Rating: 9/10 Best songs: 2+2=5, Sot down. Stand up., Where I end you begin, Backdrifts, The gloaming, Myxomatosis
Best: 2+2 = 5 Worst: We Suck Young Blood I think this album is underrated.
I just think Radiohead is pretty good at being Radiohead without doing Radiohead.
A couple of hits. Rest forgettable five stars every day, one of my favourite band, they rarely put a foot wrong.
One of the lesser discussed Radiohead albums and thats a shame since its one of the more different ones that does what it sets out to do brilliantly. I might be slightly biased (I am no matter what) since I did get to see quite a bit of the album live. This album on 'Album of the Year' is the 6th highest rated album by users and it should be 3rd, its definitely better than, The Bend, Moonshaped Pool, although interchangable with Kid A. Overall an incredible, emotional journey that entices you from the start. 9/10
Radiohead is definitely an acquired taste for a lot of people, but once you've grown to appreciate their style, you can can never go back. Truly unique musical inspiration. I would argue that other albums in their portfolio are more important, but this is great nonetheless.
Pound for pound, this is close to Radiohead's best collection of tracks. What it lacks in cohesion it more than makes up for in its effortless fluidity of tone and style, acting as a bridge between the bands various eras and tendencies. From the driving punk Rock of opener 2+2=5, as fierce and direct as the band has ever been, to the ethereal mathy dissonance of Sail to the Moon, the totality of the experience is something of an anxious distrust of people and systems. The constant noise and abrasion causes moments of peace and safety to be tinged with the feeling that they can never compensate against the chaos, lest we accept wilful ignorance. With some of Thom's most abstract poetics on this record, it feels as if he yearns to let go, to pour himself into a relationship or some safe haven, but his neuroses have created a guard that paints those reaching out as further agents of destabilization. I don't think Radiohead will ever make an album like this again (though The Smile perhaps came somewhere close), and I appreciate the stable beauty of A Moon Shaped Pool and aggressive experimentation of The King of Limbs, but this feels like a band in a state of flux, channelling that energy into an amorphous rock album, more visceral and urgent than anything else in their catalogue. Fave track: Where I End and You Begin (but that's just today)
They can’t miss really
alt rock made nice n weird
Unlike their previous albums other than Amnesiac, I was already a huge Radiohead fan when this came out, like, I listened to all their official catalog (not Pablo but ykwim) and downloaded all of their most obscure bootleg catalog as well. I bought magazines and read on the internet about the time back in the 90’s when they came to my country, gave eight (EIGHT!) obscure shows and never came back. I was obsessed, and unlike many things on those teenage years, it was a shared feeling with my sibling’s lol. So the album came out, with 2+2=5 as its leading single if I remember well (maybe Go to Sleep?) and well, I was blown (we were), I mean, they just did it again! (And would do it a few times again over de following years). I remember listening to the full album, illegally downloaded track by track from “Kazaa” or some other service because there wasn’t money for records during those days at home, I remember loving tracks like scatterbrain, and A wolf at the door. What can I say, I love this record, I have changed my favorite track along the years, and nowadays I can’t stop listening to I will. Radiohead did change the music landscape each time they released a record and it was no exception with this one. Another timeless classic by the greatest band in the world since the end of last century and I dare to say to this day even though they have not released anything since 2016 and that record is inexplicably not on this list. I have the capitol vinyl which is 45rpm and is actually quite strong press given the capitol bad reputation.
The criticism towards society it is shown by the slow tempos and gloomy atmosphere created by guitars, choirs, and several drums. The vocalist uses his voice to set the tone and help lyrics achieve its message, short and repetitive sentences with strong words.
Master… flan in the face! piece
5 🌟
Radiohead albums are either perfect or near perfect and I believe this one falls in the former category. 5/5
Piece of art
This is so much better than those boring things that preceded it. There's tension and build up in the songs. Yorke's vocals are atmospheric, whereas they'd descended into irritating, fingernails on the blackboard. We Suck Young Blood is freaky, creepy perfect.
Oh. Yes.
Excellent
Absolute favorite Radiohead album
God I love this album.
Love this. Classic album
Forgot how good this album is
FUCKING SMUKT ALBUM!!!

Radiohead is altijd top! Heel goed album
Great pump-up album that sounds new. Timeless. Great guitar tones.
i like this album already. also 2+2=5, the first song of the album, is my favorite song from radiohead.
Radiohead is one of those bands that are difficult to get into for me. I like the music, but it can be a challenge to listen to a whole album at times. It takes several listens to really appreciate them sometimes. This is not their best attempt, but it’s still a decent record. I don’t think it’s a 5 star record, but further listening might get me there. My biggest issue with Radiohead is the length of their albums, going around 10-15 minutes too long in my opinion. This is the longest record of theirs yet. It’s a solid entry though. 4 stars
great to listen to white working. loveee scatterbrain.
Art Rock/Alternative Rock Favorite Tracks: 2+2=5, Backdrifts, Where I End and You Begin, There There, A Wolf at the Door Least Favorite Song: We Suck Young Blood So this was my second full listened to album from Radiohead, the first one being Amnesiac (to which I gave a 7/10 on). While this album is a tad better than Amnesiac, I feel like it still has the same quality of it being good, but not something that’s more standout. There’s a couple of favorite songs on here that I would really love, others are only just good or okay. While the full album is going into my personal collection, I’ll more than likely just revisit to some of the songs on the album than others. Maybe it’s because some say that it felt like a collection of both styles that should’ve been placed in their previous albums, but idk if that’s the case. Again, I’ve only listened to two of them, this included. 7/10.
I was kind of underwhelmed by this one for a long time after it came out, but the whole Hamlet thing made me revisit it and I’m grateful it did. Not their most consistent record but there’s some corkers on here.
The first Radiohead album this list has given me, and if the music press is anything close to a reliable source, this probably isn't the last one either. Hail to the Thief is the rockiest Radiohead release since The Bends, and the first one resembling conventional alt rock since OK Computer 6 years prior. This one is distinctly edgier though, and it brings the band's political undercurrent to the forefront. Inspired by the band travelling across the U.S. and writing down catchphrases and slogans inscribed on billboards across the country, Radiohead really sought out to return to their alt rock roots though there's a distinctly electronic half to basically every song. It definitely feels like it was a more spontaneous process than the calculated and deliberate sessions that produced Kid A and Amnesiac. However, that spontaneity also translates to a slightly overlong album with a few too many tracks; I think this one could really have benefitted from being trimmed down by about 3 or 4 songs with those left behind being made bonus tracks. Otherwise ideas feels like they return and repeat, but not because of a deliberate attempt to establish a theme. Nevertheless, Radiohead is a fairly consistent band, and this album managed to move the band forward once again (hard to do that 6 times in a row...) The band would never return to this level of cynicism and righteous fury again, as the albums to follow either moved in a personal direction (In Rainbows, Moon Shaped Pool) or played with the sound to a near-fault (King of Limbs.) Sometimes I miss this Radiohead. Key Tracks: Sit Down Stand Up, Where I End and You Begin, There There, Myxomatosis
2 + 2 = 5 - 4.5/5 Sit Down, Stand Up - 4/5 Sail To The Moon - 3/5 Backdrifts - 3.5/5 Go To Sleep - 3/5 Where I End and You Begin - 3/5 We Suck Young Blood - 3.5/5 The Gloaming - 3.5/5 There, There - 3.5/5 I Will - 3/5 A Punch Up at a Wedding - 4/5 Myxomatosis - 4.5/5 Scatterbrain - 3/5 A Wolf At the Door - 4/5
Not their best but still good
inaspettato
Banger. Didn’t feel as much like a weighted blanket of sadness like the other Radiohead albums I’ve listened to. It was angrier. Genuinely so too.
Wait... is Radiohead a good band? This is the first I'm hearing about this...I should tell people.
i remember loving this when it first released. let's see if i still do?!?! still pretty great
Rating this against other RADIOHEAD albums this one isn't my favorite. 4.5/5
Awesome
The first Radiohead album I’ve actually listened to. Loved! I wasn’t a fan of We Suck Young Blood, but other than that this album is great.
Fantastic album. On of their best
not the best thing radiohead have made but i am fond of this. myxomatosis especially but i do really like the blend of their earlier rock roots with more experimental stuff akin to amnesiac. good stuff
I should listen it again. Just lay on my bed and turn it on because first time when I listened it I was in my thoughts and some songs just passed by
This album came at a weird time where I think Radiohead was mid-transition. They made OK Computer, followed that up with the complete pivot that is Kid A, and eventually made another pivot to In Rainbows. This album sounds like they were trying to infuse some Amnesiac into OK Computer, and I just don't think it was quite the sound they were looking for. If I had heard this in 2003 I for sure would have thought, "Dang, Radiohead's run might be over now" and it's absolutely wild that this was just a mid-evolution album. Some of these songs are really, really good, they just don't quite land because there's too much tension between songs. The connections between them is weak, which makes each song sound less polished than the earlier stuff. They also really went for the slow burn on this album, leaving some of the songs sounding more algorithmic. Overall, it's a great album, and any problems I have with it are because they are being contrasted with some of the best albums in history. I just think this one came at a weird time.
Radiohead maintains their cool factor throughout.
Lives in the shadow of OKC, Kid A, and In Rainbows. A really well-played record, I like the songs, but to me it just sounds like Radiohead Doing Radiohead But Just Not As Good As Radiohead Has Done Radiohead before. Which feels unfair to HTTF, but it feels like there's untapped potential and creativity on this one.
In their discography I feel like this album is one of the underrated ones. Not as trailblazing as Kid A or OK Computer, it finds them consolidating their style. The rock song structure blends well with the electronic flourishes.
I've never been a huge Radiohead fan. This album is pretty good. 3.5 rounded up
First repeat artist! I think I have this at 5 in my Radiohead ranks. I know they don’t love this one, but I do.
Music for insufferable persons So am I
EIGHT OUT OF TEN IDK ABOUT ANY OPINION
Needs a little trim, still a solid record. 7/10
Excellent - I think I like this more than Kid A even. I always enjoy it when they blend their electronic sounds with the rock and roll instruments. Need to spin this some more.
This album is absolutely fire but it didn't blow me off my feet. This is a perfect 4.5 out of 5 album. There are so many good songs like Sit Down. Stand up, Punch Up at The Wedding and Myxomatosis (which gets bonus points because it's a med school reference). That being said I think some songs are a bit bland, especially considering I have listened to some other Radiohead that is really, really good. Not quite my first five, but a damn good album. Fav song: Sit Down. Stand up (but man Punch Up at The Wedding is coated) Least Fav: N/A
Radiohead. Radio head. I didn't know much of them growing up besides when my brother would play the song Creep on Guitar Hero when I was a kid. I didn't pay any attention to them until a poetry professor in college mentioned them. After I realized I knew nothing, I began to listen to them beginning with their first album until I got through them all. I kept returning to The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, In Rainbows, and King of Limbs. Also became super obsessed with the off shoot The Smile and legitimately think A Light for Attracting Attention is one of the best albums of this decade. That said, I never returned much to Hail to the Thief even though it is very good. For some reason it feels like a "Radiohead album" but I think what attracts me to the others is how much it feels like an evolution or devolution or some kind of comment on the form they themselves crafted. This feels like a straightforward version of their sound. And that sound is epic, its almost more impressive that they can be so of themselves, and yet the album doesn't stick so much in my head. Perhaps for that very reason. Literally who am I to say it, but it isn't my favorite Radiohead album, and likely will never be.
Even though I can't tell what the lyrics are half the time I still love the soundscapes that are created. Not my favourite Radiohead album though
Where I End and You Begin has always been my favorite track on this album. I’ve listened to it countless times, and its hypnotic groove and growing sense of unease still feel completely unique to them. I also especially liked Backdrifts, The Gloaming, There There, and Myxomatosis. Even though The Bends and some of Radiohead’s earlier guitar-driven albums still rank higher for me personally, I continue to be amazed by how relentlessly they pursued their sound with almost obsessive intensity on every release. Few bands feel as untouchable or self-contained as Radiohead.
ok
I really enjoyed this one. I’ve heard some Radiohead songs, but never a full album so it was a fun listen.
I mean, it’s Radiohead. So it’s good. But, going into this my expectations are higher than going into a random artist I’ve never heard of, this will my listening experience and also my score. I think my favorite track is ‘A Punch Up at a Wedding’, banger. Also like One of the things I like about Radiohead is how they have such a distinct style and they explore the full range within that style, each song is also distinct despite a shared style. And I know this is just how styles work, but I mean that Radiohead really have breadth within Also, the albums are cohesive, but not in a frustrating, repetitive way. Not sure why I like this, but I do. SECOND SIDE IS BETTER!
Not my favourite Radiohead album but still great. It may not be my go to but I enjoy discovering new things in each track every time.
Strong 4
It's a good, not great, Radiohead album. It's still a solid 7.5/10 and I'm sure I'll come back to it again.
Doesn't rank as highly for me as some of Radiohead's other albums but still a great listen. 2 + 2 = 5 is a banger.
I'm increasingly of the opinion that I hadn't paid enough attention to Radiohead before doing the 1001. I was aware of some of their bigger songs and had a passing familiarity with "OK Computer" but really didn't get a sense of the breadth of their musical ambition before having several of their albums on the 1001 list. Note that this particular record was on some editions of the 1001 but then dropped, presumably because there was just too many great Radiohead albums to pick from. In a similar vein, I'll give this four stars, but that's just because there are better Radiohead albums... this album is quite good.
First album I've regularly listened to on this project so far. My kind of music. Vocals are perfect accompaniment to the electronic creepy tunes.
One of the weaker Radiohead albums, it is still good throughout but lacks the real standout moments. Not one that I’m reaching for very often.
I really love Radiohead's 'The Bands', 'OK Computer', and 'Kid A' but I never listened to any other album of theirs in full. Today's the day and I must say I don't love 'Hail To the Thief' as much as the other ones but I still find the record entrancing and moving. It is sadly as relevant today, if not more, as it was when it came out. Very well encapsulates the feeling of anxiety, uncertainty, and helplessness - the tone especially feels rather resigned than a call to action. There are great highlights (such as '2+2=5', 'There, There', 'A Wolf At the Door') but also noticeable lows ('Sit Down. Stand up', 'Backdrifts', and 'We Suck Young Blood' stick out to me the most). I think cutting a little off the tracklist would benefit the record.
Good, but doesn't reach the levels of their 90's masterpieces. 3.5
This album has weirdly given me more of an appreciation for OK Computer. Hail to the Thief is, unfortunately, not quite as good—though still nice. The album is a lot less melancholic, though still heavy, and the more experimental and diverse tracks don't feel as coherent. That being said, it is still a very solid project. It's just sad they made something way better as well
prachtig !!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this album, in fact its got moments of absolute brilliance. It does however (for me) lack the hooks that OK Computer has in spades. And that is fine, they are different records for a different place and time. While it is admittedly pretty damn great I don't feel the need to come back and pour over it the way I do with other Radiohead albums. A couple of these tracks are amongst their best work. Solid 4 star album.
We really on a roll here this week
Plus another third of a star or so. Radiohead rocking.
They always think they are different than other bands lol 4/5
Favourite Songs: Sit Down. Stand Up Where I End And You Begin There, There
I am not a fan of Yorke's voice and of the handclaps, but this is a beautiful album that, litened through headphones, made me appreciate Radiohead for the first time. I really liked the usage of Tape loops and Ondes Martenot.
Out of all of the Radiohead records in this book, this is probably my least favorite, but "2 + 2 = 5" was one of my first Radiohead obsessions and I will always have a fondness for it.
This album was Radiohead's release after the twin albums of Kid A and Amnesiac, Hail To the Thief has a lot more rock elements than those two but it still has quite a few electronic elements (just not as much as the previous two albums.) There are some really 'weird' stuff even for Radiohead standards like for example Thom just straight up repeating raindrops 50 times in a row ("Sit Down. Stand Up.") There are also some quirky melodies that I find just adoring like in "Backdrift" and "Myxomatosis" I'm also a big fan of the beats in "Sail to the Moon" and "The Gloaming" This is probably my second-least listened Radiohead album, I'd only heard it once before when I was going through Radiohead's discography about a year ago. So, I'm barely familiar with this one and I had forgotten what a lot of it actually sounds like, however I am hell of a lot more familiar with their other stuff; it's just Pablo Honey and Thief that I'm not familiar with. But all in all there is a really good mix of different sounds on here, I believe it's their most eclectic album ever. I am lot more open now to re-visiting this album even though it's fairly difficult right now to grasp. Highlight Song/s: "Sail To The Moon", "Backdrifts", "I Will" and "A Wolf At the Door"
2 + 2 = 5 and We Suck Young Blood were pretty great, and the whole album fits my tastes pretty well. I probably should've paid more attention the the lyrics and the songs in general, but even with my brain mostly off this was mostly still pretty damn good
Even my not favorite Radiohead is still kinda my favorite Radiohead. They always deliver.
I'm somewhat conflicted on Hail To the Thief. It has both the best and the worst songs in their entire catalogue. If I'm being honest, though, the only album in their discography I like better is Kid A. It might be a bit strange, but I'd take this one over The Bends, OK Computer or In Rainbows any day of the week. It has that ferocious energy and rhythm that they never really replicated in their other albums. Maybe I'm a sucker for a more straightforward approach, but this style is exactly what suits me the most when it comes to Radiohead. The weaker tracks like We Suck Young Blood and The Gloaming actually fit decently, regardless of how much I have a desire to instantly skip them when they come up. Favourite track: Where I End and You Begin
Hail to the Thief ei aukea niin helposti, kuin aiemmat kuulemani bänfin albumit, mutta kokonaisuus on kuitenkin selkeästi hyvä.
Radiohead is one of my top five favourite bands of all time, but there is no convincing argument for this album being on this list, especially when so many artists and better/more important albums are missing. Listen, I'm a big defender of this album. It's certainly bloated and it contains at least two tracks that didn't ever need to see the light of day, but it has some bangers which really come alive when heard live. But it's a significant step down from their best work. If this list, as it should be, were capped at two albums ler artist, this wouldn't be close to being included.
it's bizarre, . I kinda like how vocals are just another instrument in some songs.
Sadly as far as Radiohead albums go, Hail To The Thief ranks pretty low. It simply doesn’t hit the same heights as most of their other records for me, and feels like it drags on a bit - 2+2=5 is an amazing start to the album, but it tails off with a number of tracks that feel middle of the road. It maybe scores harshly as I'm viewing it in comparison to their elite discography, but I'd go a strong 7. It's still a great listen but just not to the same quality that we're used to.
This is not a straightforward album. It is layered and reveals those layers over time. It feels angry and cynical. Musically, they are in process. I don't think it is their best album, The Bends is my favourite, but it is still very, very good.
I like the samples and vocals
and all hail radiohead.
1001 albums to hear before you start counting 2 + 2 = 5 and know that you're demented, or the government is controlling everything. 76# AMAZING The band that made me be a music nerd. yeah almost everyone has this past. We're all living our lives and as a collective mind we go through so many of the same experiences without recognizing. The thing that changes them is how we react. Radiohead album, of course it put me in a philosophical state. About the album.. yeah it's the weakest one that'll be on this list.. or is it? I love The Bends but this might be more of an interesting ride than the Bends with all those bangers. They we're established on this one and knew what to do and where is possible to go. I love this aesthetic they create. Lunatic overthrowing the government alien aesthetic its a way to describe it. It feels grand, beyond the limits of Earth. Love this a whole lot I rated this an 88 a long time ago without writing a review, and i stand by that.
Bunnsolid album.
GOOD
8.5/10 - I find it hard to rate albums by bands I like this much. It’s not a Top 2 Radiohead album for me, but for most other bands, this is their magnum opus. Being the 3rd best Radiohead album shouldn’t relegate this to be anything below a strong 8.
A severely underrated Radiohead album. I like the return to rock instrumentation while also keeping a few of the electronic elements. There, There is one of their bests. 8/10
good
This is my fourth Radiohead project on this albums generator, and it's the first one I'm curious about -why- it's on the list. I'm a fan of Radiohead, but I'd never heard of this and I feel what it brings to the table has been hashed out better on some of their more recognized efforts. It sounds cool overall, but the singles haven't been standing out, so I see less commercial appeal and that's probably why I hadn't heard of this one. One more dedicated evening listen and I'm starting to get it. Conceptually is pretty solid, it's meant to be sad and frustrating and the lyrics help make that clear. This album criticizes a lot of things that aren't right, the album art is aware, giving us an abstracted view of real signs. I personally see a lot of capitalism, but the album digs even deeper still. This one's a slow burn, with songs that undress for the listener. Sexy but intimidating. I would still buy it. I might not be as excited as I would for some of their other albums, but it'd be a welcome addition to the collection. 3.7/5
I don't know if we're just being served all the best radiohead albums last, or something has changed in my brain, but I now love radiohead. This has such a unique sound and it inspired sooooo much.
just a really good album, can't really find anything bad to say about it.
Hard to give a Radiohead album anything below 4 stars. Not my favorite Radiohead album, probably not even top 3 but still a great album. Some of Thom Yorke's best vocals and the rhythm section is too good
Another classic by one of the greats. To be honest the list has once again presented the lesser of an artist’s works but I can only truly judge its place in the whole of music not just against their own catalog. By that metric this album is a masterpiece. Flawed in places, uh…Myxamytosis?!, but by turns mostly beautiful, interesting, and awesome.
This Radiohead album will always have a special place in my heart. It was released during a time of my life that was both joyous and dark. As a follow-up to Kid A and Amnesiac, I feel that HTTT goes to the only logical place Radiohead could have gone. The result is a great collection of songs that somehow feel a tiny bit less cohesive as other Radiohead albums.
I really ended up liking this album. It started out slow, but picked up kinda. I loved the vocals and the deep lyrics.
Amazingggg, peak radiohead, very experimental, some drum n base, some heart shaddering sadness and soft melodies. i could hear where jeff buckley got his inspiration.
Radiohead - Always good.
I enjoyed it.
roadtrip vibes
Pleasantly surprised. I fell out with Radiohead when they released Kid A. I thought if that’s the way they’re going it’s nog for me. This album felt more refined, as if Kid A was practising to get to this point. Yeah, loved it
I did enjoy I think I need a second listen though Will I listen to again: 87%
I just can't bring myself to rate a Radiohead album anything lower than a 4, even if this is potentially the weakest of theirs on this list. Even if it doesn't all flow or land, it's thoughtful, challenging, and cool. Most bands never go there, and Radiohead does it anew with every single album. As far as merging their two sounds (indie rock and electronica), I think they perfect it in their album to follow -- but this was a damn good swing. Fave tracks: - 2 + 2 = 5 - Sit Down. Stand Up - Sail To The Moon - Go To Sleep - There, There - Scatterbrain - A Wolf At the Door
heard this album at least a handful of times already. it's not my favorite of Radiohead's discography, but it's pretty good from what I can remember 2 + 2 = 5 - 5/5 Sit Down. Stand Up. - 5/5 Sail to the Moon - 5/5 Backdrifts - 3/5 Go to Sleep - 5/5 Where I End and You Begin - 5/5 We Suck Young Blood - 4/5 The Gloaming - 3/5 There There - 5/5 I Will - 3/5 A Punchup at a Wedding - 4/5 Myxomatosis - 4/5 Scatterbrain - 4/5 A Wolf at the Door - 5/5 Average score: 4.3/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as much as i wanted this to land within 5-star territory, it just didn't make the cut for me. it came pretty close though, there's a lot to love about the album
Bom álbum com mais umas músicas emblemáticas
grew on me after a couple of listens chansons préférées : Myxomatosis, 2+2=5
Not their best album, but still great.
I'm always a little iffy on Radiohead because they were The Best Rock Band On The Planet after OK Computer, and then crapped it all away with Kid A and Amnesiac. This is post-traumatic listening with this record. It's 20 years old, but I've never really listened to it until today. Back to what made them a creative force and a sonic army few could match in their prime. A little of the electronic hangover exists, but pretty good for mid-00s.
242/1089 no radiohead albums for ages then suddenly 2 show up within 3 days of one another is a fun coincidence, def not complaining though this was once again pretty good, not at OK Computer’s level imo but still a good time faves: myxomatosis, where i end and you begin, there there 74/100
Interesting textures and vibe. Worth a second listen
Excellent, excellent album! Radiohead are my daughter’s favorite band, and though they are not mine, I do appreciate what they construct. It’s always so complex and different, while still sounding good. This one has a lot of cool tracks on it, I took down about half of them to my own library. Four stars. A great listen.
I had "The Bends" just about two weeks ago (the Radiohead album, fortunately), and I think this is pretty much on par with that album. It's moody and atmospheric music, a perfect snapshot of the anxiety of the early 2000s. Favorite track: "There, There"
This isn't Radiohead at its best, but it's still Radiohead. A solid and often overlooked album.
Wow, it’s really interesting to remember how angry people wear, and incredulous, at the election of George Bush the second period I remember my father, who was quite conservative, being exasperated at the lack of rationale for the war in Iran Iraq I mean. Amazing, that now, bush looks like a brilliant genius.
Radiohead exists in my mind as fragments of their early stuff showing on late night VH1. And from that, I've unfairly equated them with the 90s stuff rock one hit wonders that would have followed them in the late night programming. That being said, I finally understand that they're a proper rock outfit, with crunchy, futuristic riffs, chanting off kilter lyrics, grounded by piano and drums and challenged with electronic synth and beats. It's good. It's feels like the most futuristic throwback sound that's available.
Even the third worst Radiohead album is still great.
introspective and interesting, needs further listening
I am kind of surprised to see this album on here to be honest. It's probably Radiohead's 6th or 7th best effort. At the same time, it's hard to argue against the genius of Hail to the Thief (review bombs on this site be damned). I think it lulls a bit in the middle but then six out of the last seven songs are amazing. I think a lot of us who appreciate Radiohead have trouble giving this 5 stars because it's not a perfect album and when you compare it to their discography, it's at the bottom for many. But that's just how good Radiohead is: one of their lesser albums is still fantastic. I have to give it 4 stars based on how I rate albums but in reality it's probably a 4.5.
Not my favorite Radiohead but still Radiohead. A return to rock and live drums. Not really sure what the overarching theme is aside from everything is terrible and evil people are taking over everything. Not so different now as it was then.
Love Radiohead, but I love their other albums more
Great. Almost peak Radiohead.
Lotta bangers on this one (shoutout Myxomatosis) but it has one song I can’t stand: We Suck Young Blood.
To thine own selves be true.
Stark 4a.
One of my favorite Radiohead albums, it has a punkier feel and has a lot to talk about while still being unmistakably Radiohead. The fact that this album is still so very timely is a sad situation.
This one is really tough because on one hand I really enjoyed this electronic, alien like rock that conveyed this eerie story but on the other hand do I think it is a 4? Yes, yes I do.
Not sure I like Thom Yorke’s voice but I like his singing. Very creative music and so many surprising ideas that feel entirely right.
10/10 obviamente
it was really good top 5 radiohead albums ive listened to so far but some of it was weird and felt like amnesiac also it got a bit repetitive, amnesiac was better
Solid album. Not their greatest but one of their better albums.
i’m into this overall
Great album, but needed a slight bit of light to lift into a 5 for me.
Several of my favourite Radiohead songs sit in Hail to the Thief. There, There is an awesome single, it’s amazing the feeling of urgency they summon with a few simple chords and eerie pacing that’s neither fast nor slow. Wolf at the Door is similarly powerful in its low key delivery of an anxious, twisty turny melody. The high power moments also play out beautifully, 2+2=5’s “PAYING ATTENTION!” quickly transitions into Sit Down, Stand Up’s “AND THE RAIN DROPS!” In my opinion these two freak-outs make for the best opening moments of any Radiohead album. I find that it falls short of the upper echelons of their discography due to its length and diversity. For example, I find The Gloaming to be a stylistic hangover from Amnesiac which I would prefer wasn’t revisited. In Rainbows has a similar sonic set up to my favourite aspects of this album, but is then laser focused on what it wants to achieve. Every time there is a bit of energy loss though, the band will hit you with another “must have” classic song, so it easily holds its own.
This was quite an interesting record. It's good instrumentally and vocally. It feels quite subdued, but there's quite a lot going on sonically. Favourite Track(s): A Punch Up At a Wedding, A Wolf At the Door Least Favourite Track(s): Go To Sleep
While "Hail to the Thief" is somewhat inconsistent and lacks a truly cohesive flow, its highlights stand toe-to-toe with the band’s finest work. Tracks like the ethereal "Sail to the Moon", the driving "Where I End and You Begin", and the genuinely fantastic "There, There" and "A Wolf at the Door" are absolute triumphs. For me, it is a more engaging listen than its two predecessors; unlike those records, it never loses my interest. However, even after years of repeated listening, it doesn't quite reach the 'essential' status of a five-star album. I don't love this album but I do respect it. It remains a very good, albeit slightly fragmented, four-star album. 1 "2 + 2 = 5" ("The Lukewarm.") (5/5) 2 "Sit Down. Stand Up." ("Snakes & Ladders.") (3/5) 3 "Sail to the Moon." ("Brush the Cobwebs Out of the Sky.") (5/5) 4 "Backdrifts." ("Honeymoon Is Over.") (3/5) 5 "Go to Sleep." ("Little Man Being Erased.") (4/5) 6 "Where I End and You Begin." ("The Sky Is Falling In.") (5/5) 7 "We Suck Young Blood." ("Your Time Is Up.") (3/5) 8 "The Gloaming." ("Softly Open Our Mouths in the Cold.") (3/5) 9 "There, There." ("The Boney King of Nowhere.") (5/5) 10 "I Will." ("No Man's Land.") (3/5) 11 "A Punchup at a Wedding." ("No No No No No No No No.") (4/5) 12 "Myxomatosis." ("Judge, Jury & Executioner.") (3/5) 13 "Scatterbrain." ("As Dead as Leaves.") (3/5) 14 "A Wolf at the Door." ("It Girl. Rag Doll.") (5/5) Total - 54 Average - 3.86 261/1001 141/261 albums reviewed were new to me
Really good album. Classic Radiohead. Use of voice as an instrument, driving baselines and rhythms. A+
Really got lost in some of the songs towards the end. Great album!
I found it compelling from the first track, it reminded me of something but I dont know what. Dreamlike and almost surreal- did someone spike my coffee-. I enjoyed it but got a little sick of it towards the end.
Radiohead number 3. I found the computer one a whinge, quite liked The Bends, but this one is captivating. It's hypnotic and trippy. Finding myself completely absorbed in it without really minding when he whinges. Again, they are really good musicians but he could do with some antidepressants or something. I bet this one isn't very highly rated compared to the whingey one - I'm not a contrarian, but generally that's what happens when I enjoy a popular band's work - I always like the 'wrong' ones.
So close to a 5, great album
I've heard this album a ton. I'm a Radiohead fan and they're my oldest son's favorite band. Hail to the Thief continues the band's run of outstanding albums that started with OK Computer. I like this one slightly less than a few of their others so the best I can do is 4/5 here though. Highly recommended either way.
see its not my favorite, but its still good shit man very dramatic
A Radiohead album that I actually liked. Nice.
Not the best Radiohead album, but certainly not the worst either. Bah... Go on, just take your 4...
This ones good but I can see why people go 'you should listen to Kid A' or 'OK Computer' and never 'Hail To the Thief'
this was great. i love radiohead, this seems so different from Kid A post 2000's. Favorite songs included 2+2=5, Sail To The Moon, Where I End and You Begin, There, There and A Wolf At the Door. Love the album cover art. 7/10 (rounding up!)
This is a solid album. A lot of good songs and a good sounds overall. Not a real wow album but not sure that is required. 3.5 but a tilt to 4.
It's sweeping. It's majestic. It sounds amazing. And it's depressing AF.
very cool album. its what i expect a radiohead album to sound like lwk,,, like, very computer-y (?) very computer pop (????).
Everything they do sounds different but also sounds like Radiohead. I'd say the best adjective to describe that "Radiohead quality" to their music is haunting...a lot of it is due to something in Thom Yorke's voice. The title of Backdrifts makes me want to do an edit of Backdraft with this as the soundtrack. You can hear the U2 influence on this album, Achtung Baby and Pop. Radiohead definitely transitioned to a band that makes albums from a band that generates hit singles. There, There is the best song on the album. A Wolf at the Door has a very ominous feeling about it.
Thom Yorke I was unfamiliar with your game in this album. “Sail to the Moon” and “There, There” are beautiful, and “A Punch Up At A Wedding” is gonna be on loop for the next week. I must’ve gotten this mixed up with Amnesiac because I can’t believe I ever hated this album. Some weaker songs which make it lower than a 5, but it’s still a high 4. Not at all what I remembered!!
I knew none of the songs but the vibe was pretty good overall. I enjoyed ut
Two Thoms up
Wow. The Bends followed by this, Interesting! Not sure it’ll get the same 5* but always enjoyed it and saw a great remake of Hamlet with this as the soundtrack. Anyway, I digress… The first two tracks are just bangers (similar structure actually) and a great intro to the album. Then a clear representation of the other side in ‘Sail…’ Even though every track is quality, I don’t know what it’s missing for the same, unquestionable 5* as The Bends. It’s great, but not astounding, I guess. And yeh, remember a slight dip in the middle for the more somber songs but Radiohead gonna Radiohead. And then back with a bang with ‘There, There.’ Great album, some dips, but solid enough and counter weighed by some absolute tunes (4.5)
Álbum bastante experimentalista do Radiohead.
There’s not quite the verve or lyricism of, say, OK Computer, but the instrumentation is great.
Coming off the immaculate run of OK Computer, Kid A, and Amnesiac, along with their earlier records, Radiohead had already cemented themselves as a staple of the modern music scene. They had solidified their place in history as one of the most groundbreaking bands, so the spotlight was firmly on them to see what would come next. Even though this album isn’t in my top five Radiohead records, it’s still an excellent listen. It’s sonically rich, with an underlying sense of political disassociation and angst. It remains consistent throughout, with both the opening and closing tracks standing out as highlights. My favorite tracks are "Sail to the Moon", "Go to Sleep", and "A Punch Up at a Wedding".
A great (maybe underrated?) Radiohead album. 2+2=5 is a great opener. Sail to the Moon is wonderful. Go to Sleep, There, There and Myxomatosis are great. I tend to gravitate towards those tracks that are more guitardriven.
You know we don't need all the Radiohead albums on the list? Still good
Coooooool
It’s so good but 5 stars doesn’t seem appropriate since it’s not my favourite Radiohead album. If I gave it five stars then I’d have nowhere higher to go. So maybe this is more of a ranking of my favourite Radiohead Albums rather than of all music ever. I’m overthinking this. It deserves five stars probably.
The dilemma here is do I just give all the Radiohead albums 5 stars. To show that I’m not just a complete fan boy I’ll give this 4 as the album I go back to least (other than pablo honey obviously). But know that it’s a very high 4 stars….
Underrated album. 9-10 great songs It’s just (huh huh) let down (huh huh) by also having a handful of mediocre skippable tracks which Radiohead’s other albums don’t have.
Better than In Rainbows
Radiohead are beloved and there is a lot to line here. It really requires active listening, more than many other albums on the list. BUt I shouldn't let that drag it down too much.
Hail to the Thief is Thom Yorke at his whiniest. Some of these songs sound like Thom having an anxiety attack. Yeah, I know he always sounds like that, but here it sounds like he is cry-talking. There are some great highlights on this album, like “There, There,” my personal favourite and honestly the track that got me into Radiohead. Radiohead made such an impact that even one of my least favourite listening experiences from them is still excellent. Maybe just go to therapy next time, Thom.
2 + 2 = 5 Sit Down, Stand Up There There **one of my fav of theirs! A Wolf At the Door
Solid, A Punch Up at a Wedding is my personal favorite.
We all know what perfectionists Radiohead is and it shows in their live music.
Soothing
Solid
It's good, fave radiohead
Not my favourite by em, but aye
Soothing nihilism
It does have some good-to-great songs, but it’s not the best Radiohead.
This is some really great background music I put this on while I was working and before I knew it I had listened to the whole album. I understand why some would not like this music, but for me it is superb.
Mens Hail to the thief er helt nytt for meg. "There, there" føyer seg i listen over Radiohead-favoritter.
Atmospheric indie rock with electro/synth elements. Jazz influence in there too with some chord choices? Drum n bass drums in Sit Down. Stand Up Go To Sleep has that style of finger picked/arpeggiated chord progression I love For me it's at its best with a decent beat, not so aimlessly atmospheric. And I can't forgive Thom Yorke for making so many people copy this vocal style. A Punch Up at a Wedding has a nice funky bluesy soul feel. Myxomatrosis has great fuzzy bassline. 2nd half of album definitely picks up! Best track - Go To Sleep, There There, A Punch Up At A Wedding, Myxomatosis 4 stars, just about enough interest and good songs to bring it up
A tense, twitchy mix of guitars and electronics, full of political paranoia and uneasy beauty. It’s messy in a deliberate, fascinating way, with standouts like “2 + 2 = 5” and “There There” showing both bite and atmosphere. Not their tightest album, but a consistently gripping one.
Sometimes when a band releases so many great albums you lose track of some of them. I haven’t listened to this album in full in quite a long time. I was instantly mesmerised. Hauntingly beautiful and unsettling. 4 stars. Fave track - I will.
This has been one of my favourite Radiohead album at times, it comes and goes. I recognise that it's probably not the best place to start for someone not familiar with the band, but I do love it for it's experimental parts. Particularly love The first 4 songs, There There, and the last 4.
Grew up on this one. Some of their highest highs, but the section between There, There and Wolf at the Door kinda drags more than I remembered.
The album feels like it is actively trying to make me tense up waiting for the other shoe to drop. While I didn’t “like” it, it was super compelling and I totally lost myself in it (to the point where I fully missed my train stop). Not for casual listening but if I had to pick a favorite it would be we suck young blood Edit: not sure what I was on when I wrote this review? I love this album and have now returned to it multiple times. 4 stars!
Decided on 4 stars because there are probably 5 or 6 better Radiohead albums, one of which isn't on this list, and I could stand to be a song or two shorter
They can't all be Ok Rainbows Kids
Bedre enn jeg husker👍
Langt ifra det verste de har gjort
👌
Vind Radiobead een toffe band. Goed album.
Although not as groundbreaking as the top-tier Radiohead albums, this is still a very solid record with some amazing songs on it (2+2=5, There, There, etc). That said, it does also have a couple uncharacteristic duds IMO like We Suck Young Blood and The Gloaming.
Hail To the Thief - Radiohead Oh, I didn’t know this was a jam. Besides the political undertone, this record has some crazy melodies & instrumentation that hit different. Clearly they ate this up real bad. There’s quite a pervasive feeling of impending doom that hangs just below the surface of every record. And of course, the last one is a BANGER.
My therapist will not like this but I had forgotten how good Radiohead is. I’ll return listening to them on a regular basis
This is one that it took me longer to warm up to than many of Radiohead's more acclaimed albums, and it still juuust misses the 10/10 mark for me. However, it's still got some of Radiohead's best songs on it, with bangers like 2+2=5, There There, and A Wolf at the Door peppered throughout. It's also their most politically incisive album, coming as it does right on the heels of the invasion of Iraq by the Bush administration. Shame they didn't maintain that political acuity into the present day...
Very solid effort by Radiohead that is mildly hampered by being a teensy bit long and not really having a signature, unique sound to anchor it in their catalog.
A radiohead album that didn't have really any songs I know from them. Really enjoyed the musical expressions and experimental feel to the tracks. I don't think I've heard a song like "We suck young blood" in a long time. Thom Yorke's vocals really bring up an unsettling vibe and his harmonized cries drag over the slow tempo. Really interesting stuff.
I liked a lot of this and the album seemed to stick to the theme pretty well. 2+2=5 and wolf at the door were my favorites
Ja just ... Radiohead! Stark fyra
there, there and myxomatosis is my fav, the atmosphere is so cool the this album, can be a bit boring at some points in the album tho☹️
This is not may favorite Radiohead album. But it’s still fantastic. I need to give it more time, as I really spent so much time on their first 5 albums and those after have been neglected a bit. 4.25
interesting gives the vibe of delta dawn mixed with some like beachy rock elements.
A great Radiohead album, and I would say it contends for their third best. Lots of memorable moments, however this one feels a bit more like they are playing it safe. Good, great even, but not a Radiohead album I come back to often.
This is a difficult rating for me. It's not Radiohead's best, no, but some of their albums break the scale imo--Kid A in particular is a 6+ next to some of the albums I've given 5s to already. All that said, I really like this, save maybe 2 tracks that feel like they'd have benefited from more refining. I could easily be swayed into giving this a 5--it keep growing on me after 3 listens this week, but let's call it 4.5.
Curious why this one would be added to a top-list, but I've always been fond of this adolescent record betwixt the Kid A and In Rainbows eras. I listened to it endlessly on discman between classes in uni. I actually really like the quasi U2 numbers Where I End and Backdrifts. The only really annoying cut is We Suck Young Blood. I Will is a fun loopback (literally) to Amnesiac's Like Spinning Plates. Fond memories.
I like this album, all Radiohead kind of sounds the same to me. I like it, but I wish I really liked it like some people do.
4.5
Dreamy and inventive and mesmerizing.
High peaks but not as good as their best
Not Radiohead's best, but still a great album. I was only a kid in 2003 and not in the UK or USA, so a lot of the political stuff here go over my head. Not that that is an essential part to enjoy this, as the bulk of the band's greatest moments are musical, not lyrical. The relatively longer tracklist should give the band more room to experiment and try different things, but for some reason some of these songs end up blend together for me. But when they're good, they're amazing. Not the Radiohead album I would recommend as first exposure to the band but still a worthwhile listen. Key tracks: 2+2=5 Go to Sleep There There Myxamatosis
I liked it! Really good piano sounds! And then electronic sounds too! And the nasal whine! Wowsa, what an album! Reminded me of Muse and SOAD at points for reasons.
- sad - could fall asleep to
so good
I like some Radiohead songs. I'm less keen on the ones that sound only like a miserable wail (miserable wailing isn't a problem as such, but, unless it's really beautiful, there has to be something with a bit of drive behind it, for me to enjoy it - for example on There There, which I liked very much). There were a few overly waily ones here. I always enjoy Radiohead's creativity, though.
Radiohead are one of those bands that are either 1 or 4/5 stars. Serious and and musical and boundary-pushing. I’m in the 4/5 camp but I understand the 1 star people too. They’re the band I want to be in while not-so-secretly adoring Duran Duran.
I’ve already been served The Bends, Ok Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, and In Rainbows. I’m not sure if this album was dropped on later editions, but it’s definitely the weakest Radiohead album I’ve been served so far, and the only one I’m rating less than 5 stars. Radiohead is absolutely an important band, and this album does serve as an interesting transition from the purely studio focused Kid A/Amnesiac to incorporating their electronics and live performance on In Rainbows. But where In Rainbows is a perfect album, this one is a little messy. There are legitimately great tracks, but even in the bands own assessment it’s overstuffed and rough around the edges. Even Thom Yorke posted a revised track list that dropped 4-5 songs. I’m a fan of Radiohead and like a lot of the material here, so it’s still 4 stars, but definitely their 2nd or 3rd worst album.
I'm a fan...so there's that. I like Portishead far and away more than Radiohead, but these guys are heads/shoulders above most of the pap we have to put up with on this journey. Even an album I'm more or less on the fence (4 star fence, to be clear). But shit, I just had to listen to Paul Simon for f's sake. And that is good but banal. These guys are not banal imo. Plus, other than his 1st released solo album, better than McCartney. 4 solid state stars.
I never think to listen to Radiohead. I mean, I know they're good and that people love them, but it just never occurs to me to put them on. And it never seems like the right time or seeing to listen to them. But then when I'm "forced" to I really like it
A rare 4 star radiohead album that is not The Bends. Great blend of indie alternative sound and synth forward melodies. Harsh and bold but well defined. I for once enjoyed a radiohead album that is not the bends. Its about the little things yall.
Classic radiohead
Every time I listen to this album I take something different away. It's got a little bit of everything and the song writing is just top notch
This was a Radiohead album I had never listened to, but I really enjoyed it. Lots of variety and plenty of very interesting ideas on this. It's a little long, but it's so vibey that the time passed quickly. 4.0/5.0: Great
A good album, I liked 2 + 2 = 5, Where I End and You Begin and There There the most.
This isn't the best Radiohead album, but even "not their best" is a lot better than many bands. All in all, an excellent album.
I already like radio head but am a casual fan. not my favorite album but my likes playlist gained a few new songs.
No need to clog this list with Radiohead albums. If you like 'em, you like 'em. If you don't, you don't.
Some of the best and some of the worst of Radiohead on here. I'm feeling generous though.
Epic
Fuck you W! Love how Myxomatosis disrupts the quietness of the second half
Sounded similar to the other Radiohead albums. I liked it
Good. Not my favorite. 4/5
Look, I know Thom Yorke is a miserable bastard, but he's got talent and skills and he's the closest thing we have to a protest-song maker these days. This album is a slight return to a more rock-oriented effort after the twin electronic-based releases Kid A and Amnesiac. Even though they create vibin' grooves, they still manage to keep an original edge with lots of experimentation, using the studio as an instrument. And Jonny Greenwood has mad guitar skills. Except for a couple songs that sound like a New Orleans jazz funeral, they mostly weave their typical claustrophobic sonic paranoia electronica-rock on this one like a spider wrapping up a late-night snack. There really aren't any bad Radiohead records, but that doesn't mean that any of them are easy listening by any stretch of the imagination. There's a lot going on in their later work, and Thom's delivery can be kind of whine-y, but it works in the context of the music. After all, our culture is pretty shitty these days. Standout tracks: Go To Sleep, Where I End and You Begin, 2+2=5, and Myxomatosis
One of my favorite Radiohead albums I’ve heard, wasn’t expecting that at all. So so good!!!
Probably their best outside of the big three. Not sure why I don't revisit it more often (exception being Where I End and You Begin at least, which is one that not so inoften crops up in my rotation.)
This has officially won me over to Radiohead. I’d only heard Amnesiac before this and I definitely enjoyed it and admired the creativity, but this clicked with me way more. I love the melding of electronica with rock, it feels pretty unique. The harmonies sound lovely every time they show up. Thom Yorke’s vocals work really well. 4/5

myxomatosis
I'm not a radioheadhead, and in fact I don't think I've ever heard a single song on this album. But they really are amazing prog musicians. And it's really accessible prog, barely anything over 4 minutes. I listened through twice and I'll hang on to at least a few songs.
Never listened to radiohead before, now I want to rage against the machine from 2003.
