Ambient first, rock en la cara B. Inspirational e easy listening
I enjoyed that some of the songs (especially at the beginning of the album) were super chill, but the back half kind of hurt it’s chances of a decent score from me. There are some really great ideas that come out of Krautrock, but overall I’m not a huge fan. Favorite Tracks: “Seeland” and “Len Wohl”

Very short, sex pistols meets melancholia
forgettable
Basic krautrock, first 3 tracks are good, rest is okey.
Some moments were VERY chill. If I wasn't at work, I would have fallen asleep. Kind of nice to be soothed, but hardly 'music'. Other moments were more upbeat, but not very interesting.

An interesting album for 1975 to be sure, but ultimately I would never listen to this album again. 42.5 mins of ambient noise and loud breathing to the sound of waves. Glad 1/14 is over, onto the next one!
I like songs with lyrics and not a fan of long tracks (5mins plus). Musically it was good but missing vocals

Nie siadło mi. Pierwsze dwa utwory bardzo mnie znudziły i musiałem odłożyć słuchanie reszty albumu na później. Następne utwory, zwłaszcza Hero są bardzo spoko.
Album był nudny, podobałą mi się jedna piosenka leb wohl, reszta bardzo przecięna, na dodatek niemcy ją robili wiec -10 do stylu
i could see why other people might like this… but i don’t. it’s slow and repetitive. some songs feel like good music to fall asleep to. others absolutely overstay their welcome. i’m not getting anything from it.
NEU! 75 - NEU ⭐️ I’m not really sure what about this album is appealing to some people, but it’s not appealing to me at all. It put me to sleep, so I went back and listened to it again, just to be fair. Still boring. The 1001 Albums project is giving me a lot of confirmation bias, that I already know about and like the best possible music. I’m sure that there will be breakthroughs and surprises, but so far I haven’t encountered any.

Not sure why you’d put out an album of muzak
Pittig begin om doorheen te komen. Eerste helft is een soort slaapmuziek wat niet helpt op de maandag ochtend. Daarna schrik je wakker van wel goede muziek maar gaan ze er overheen schreeuwen, daarna weer te rustig en eindigen prima. Al met al een achtbaan waar ik niet nog een keer in wil.

i was sort of excited for this because of the minimalistic album art and a band name i was totally unfamiliar with, and it ended up being kiiiiinda cool by virtue of being really different from what we've had recently, but it's a real shame that this is so damn boring.

the first half was really boring ambient soundscapes, and the latter half was really boring electronic rock soundscapes.

First 3 tracks: slow, comfortable, peaceful Hero: generic u2 sounding music with jaggers rotting corpse as the vocalist. Awful. E-musik: long psychedelic rock intro that has so much promise and build in tempo. And fails to deliver anything. If it had anything of interest this album would score higher. After eight: more like hero. Gross. Highway tune beat with what can best be described as moaning. No real progression. I listened to the whole thing, which should give this an extra half point versus some of this dreck.
What a complete airball. This album isn’t going anywhere, isn’t doing anything at all for me and therefore isn’t pleasant to listen to at all. It just keeps going in a samey tempo for about 45 minutes without anything special going on. 1/5
Don’t like straight instrumentals

Awful. This is what I was worried the Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark would be. Just instrumental, with some weird sounds, and like 10 min songs that all just sound like background music

What? I saw on Wikipedia that "Hero" inspired the Sex Pistols. Ok, that's cool I like their music. I can hear how it inspired them, but my gosh that song is not good. I don't care that the vocals weren't traditionally good, but I do care that it's not even singing and he's just moaning random things in my ear. "Leb' wohl" is the worst offender of this. Terrible song. Boring and moany. "After Eight" is ok I guess. Not great lyrically, but it doesn't have to be. The instrumental is boring though. Also "Seeland" is boring. "E-Musik" is less boring but too long and therefore gets boring near the end. Only the opener "ISI" is anything better than bad or ok. This track was good. I'd listen again. As for most everything else, I will gladly pass on a second listen.

I’m actually shocked that anyone listened to this and decided it was one of the best 1001 albums ever made, unless I’m totally missing something. I can generally see why an album is great even when it’s not to my personal taste, but this was just noise
Lyricless songs are fine but outstay their welcome, the lyrics are in German and sound slurred
Really didn’t understand the inclusion of this, it was just… nothing to me. I was excited for a German band I hadn’t heard of before but then… meh. What am I missing?! (1.5 stars)

Another noise in the background album. When there was “singing” I wished there wasn’t. Very forgettable, very questionable why it’s on this list. 2/10

Never heard of this band before. I was very disapointed with the first 3 songs. They were very much background music. The album picked up when hero came on but at that point the album was half the way through. It started to go back downhill from track 4. Hero apart, this is not for me!! Favourite song: Hero Least favourite: 5/6 songs on the album. Album artwork: Good

Really not sure what I listened to here. I normally enjoy ambient noise but this just wasn't it. I could see it being the building blocks of other music, but the incoherent vocals really killed the vibe.

I really wanted to like this album, I really did. I tried to tap into my artsy fartsy side, but I just couldn’t do it. The first two songs sound like a video game soundtrack, or the interlude in a coming-of-age musical. Then, we get something that sounds like it came from the Calm app… which almost sold me on the album, ngl. BUT all is ruined by the 4th song which sounds like one of those AI edits of Helen Keller covering 2000s rock songs. Finally, the album closes out with 9 minutes of the same drum beat over and over again.
80s pop sound before the 80s with a dose of 80s punk. Not a keeper.
So far kind of boring 🥱, maybe good background music for a Netflix serie during a scene🎬 . I finished the whole album but I feel it’s more like some trials with musicians who are deep into their own scene. Maybe fun for them but not really for me.
This album doesn't seem to fit with the rest from this list. Maybe it is trying to be too many things. Didn't vibe.
First half of album Starting off with a couple of instrumentals not a good idea, yeah ok the music isn't offensive but come on give me some excitement. When they did start singing in track 3 I could hardly hear what he was saying it was that quite. There was also an annoying ticking clock, I honestly thought the crocodile from Peter pan was in my living room it was that over the top. Second half of album A better start at least there is lyrics I can hear, even if the were not the easiest to understand. But track 4 has a weird 30 seconds at the end where I think they forgot they were still recording. The. The next track they seem to have forgotten vocals again. Luckily they remember them for the final track. I'm struggling to find a positive for this album, but I really can't. In summary: Track lengths are far too long. Don't see any point to this album.

Monotonous. Tip: Don’t call your album New! With the year on the cover. Unless you want to guarantee that it’s soon dated. It’s like labeling the pastries in the case “Fresh for October”.

I forgot I was listening to an album multiple times. Then something would happen and it would scare me. The last song was especially creepy. Karl, we can add Krautrock to our podcast.

Makes me feel like I'm being held against my will in a dark empty room, with nothing but this playing in the background. Like I'm a 10 year old girl, bored out of my mind while waiting for my mom to withdraw money in the bank or something. Like I'm being forced to sit through a 10-hour meeting at work. Or like I'm getting 2 root canals done at once. That's what this feels like.
Going in blind again, let's goooooo. Are you telling me this isn't Kraftwerk? First track, this is pretty odd. It seems like every instrument is playing a slightly different genre. I accidentally (oops!) looked at the "fans also like" and saw CAN, so I feel like I should be enjoying this more than I am. Like, it's fine, but I have to be in a mood for music this ambient and passive. The clock sound on Leb Wohl is kind of pleasant. So far, this is the best song on the album. Very ethereal. Wait, bro what the FUCK why was shuffle on? IDK what I listened to second, then. Just went back to Seeland. This one definitely has a more interesting sound than Isi and whatever I listened to second. Hero is way more active, and it has actual vocals, neat. Good lord this shit is repetitive. E-Musik is starting off interesting enough, but I have low hopes. Just like I figured, more droning, boring, repetitive shit. I'm really trying to give this a fair shake, but damn. Whoaaaaaa the end of E-Musik was on an episode of Off The Air I think. As soon as After Eight started, I pulled up the lyrics. Guess what? Repetitive AF. I really just think this is some avant-garde BS that I'm not high enough to enjoy.
Very atmospheric. I'm not a fan of really ambient music like this. Even playing in the background it doesn't improve anything I am doing so I don't see the point. This one was totally lost on me.
I tried to listen, but for me, goes nowhere, couple of tracks start really well, for me, then nothing - just keep going no build no vocials, no tempo change, all be come a bit boring hence the single star.

Hero is a legitimately good song on an album that otherwise often sounds like algorithm-generated backing music to iPhone photo albums. The last three songs keep this an interesting listen but they are in serious contrast to what comes before.
