Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Ja! Learned from Wikipedia that this is a Speakerboxx/The Love Below kinda deal, 1 artist per side. I prefer the earlier more ambient pieces.. You can tell the shift when the (bad) vocals take over. Appreciate it historically but definitely prefer the evolution of this sound into influencing so many bands I like.

ahh...

2.5 stars Part sleepy ambient, part cheesy 80s movie score, part proto-punk. It’s cool, I can see how this was ahead of its time for 1975 and certainly influential. I like the chugging krautrock rhythms but ultimately this album was kind of boring. I thought Faust, who we reviewed earlier, was much more compelling.

Good, just not for me

I had no expectations when this album popped up. I figured by the “Neu!” it was German. And it was okay. Mostly instrumental but a few songs had vocals. Songs were a little long for my taste but nothing on here was objectionable.

Interesting sound. Not my typical but not bad. Don't know much about Krautrock, probably not gonna go deeper than this.

point8.

Sounded like elevator music

It was vibey background music for the most part. I think if I was on acid when I listened to it I may have enjoyed it more - or just been annoyed, it's hard to tell. I felt like the tracks were drawn out and way too long and super repetitive. Probably wouldn't listen again, but maybe it's just not my cup of tea.

I tried to find something positive in here, but it's a struggle. It's just so repetitive. I guess that's the point of this style, but I was just bored with it. Maybe a couple of tracks would be great for anyone look for meditation music?

I just don't think I understand Krautrock. Probably the only one I have ever been okay with is Tangerine Dream. This album had this ethereal quality to a number of tracks, I thought. A little noodle-y. Then the second half had this punk-y type of stuff, "Hero" and "After Eight". It was very jarring, I just don't get why they were there. I got to the last track, and it was just so obnoxious I had to move onto the next album. I guess I am just not seeing the point here. NEXT.

I didn’t like the second part, but I liked the calm first part. However, it’s not a great album.

the songs that i did like were neat but most of the album fell extremely flat to me. boring

Bit random and disorganized.

Hero is my new go-to karaoke song.

Interesting album. Some of it sounds like atrium music, the rest is like experimental rock. Doesn’t always work, but at least it was something different. 2.5/5 Probably won’t listen again

Wow. Krautrock that isn't Krautrock. Some of this is listenable.

Very meh

The Experimental parts were disapoointing the straight about meditation music was ok I guess.

Wasn’t for me.

The first half was solid background listening music, but singing in the back half was a bit too jarring.

It's kind of interesting but also not really my thing.

Very boring in general.

1.5 stars It didn’t do it for me. Krautrock is not for me. But it wasn’t unlistenable.

Initially, we thought this was perhaps good for going to sleep, but slightly too soft and gentle for us. Then the tone changed and it was slightly too grating for us instead: opposite ends of the spectrum, and neither end was pleasant.

El humano pone la batería y Hal el resto?. Podría ser cuando pasan los créditos de la quinta película de 2001 de Kubrik

Just music with the very occasional distant vocals. Nothing atrocious but 2's the ceiling with a music-only compilation like this. It's not just noise, though, so it's got that much going on.

Didn’t love it, kind of low key.

Okay, so here’s the deal.. It starts dreamy, drifts into some ambient haze, and ends like someone discovered distortion pedals and shouted German into the void. There’s no glue holding this together. You either vibe with the mess or you don’t. Spins: 2 Playlist Additions: - Isi - Seeland

Nothing special

Kraftwerk parte deux. Meh.

its whatever

Maybe Neu! Shouldn’t have gotten back together. Their first two albums were innovative, and the influence they had can still be seen. This was just ok.

This almost felt like something. I can't put my finger on it, but the album just seemed like the backbone for something, but was missing some finishing touches. I don't know. There were good sounds here, but it still just felt incomplete somehow. As a result, it just didn't hit home for me. Also, it took me a while to pick up on the fact that this album was from 1975 and not the 2000s+. Something about it sounded like more current indie dabblings. Probably a 2.5 or so, but not feeling inspired to round up to a 3.

The first half was "staring into a wall" type of music. The second... let's just say I hope they made it out of the mental institution with this one

thank neu! for making me discover the existence of the word krautrock, but their accomplishments stop at that 2-/5 🇩🇪

Man I was so into this until the shitty vocals ruined the vibe.

another one of those “you need to listen to this” rather then “you would want to listen to this” album. Low-key forgot I was listening to music at some points, and the rock parts aren’t my thing.

I prefer lyrics so this isn’t really my cup of tea but it wasn’t bad

Not a huge fan

Never before have I heard an album with such a disappointing side 2 after a reasonably appointing side 1. The first two tracks are ridiculously good. Sort of an ambient prog-esque instrumental, focusing on driving percussion rhythms and some excellent melodies on guitar and other instruments. After the one-two of Isi / Seeland, I was ready to give this album 5 stars without even questioning it. Track 3, Leb Wohl, is definitely weaker on account of the clock ticking which gets a little annoying after the first 8 minutes of it. But I was extremely tired when listening to the song, and it honestly felt relaxing more than anything – even though the ticking kept changing tempos (whoops). Still a fun and thoughtfully arranged instrumental that continues the electronic-prog theme. But then, once you flip over the record to side 2, all sense of artistry is thrown completely out the window. Hero and After Eight are extremely bland renditions of pre-punk(?) rock with zero melody to speak of, zero memorable moments, nothing. Just several minutes of deranged, indecipherable rock screaming backed by somewhat atonal and heavily distorted guitar. And the drums... they don't change. At all. The same percussion pattern repeats for 7 and 5 minutes, respectively. It's exhausting and such an odd change from the former half of the album that not only does it sound like a different band, but a different genre. You can hardly even call side 2 "music". I guess for 1975 it's pretty interesting to see how bands were experimenting, but (as NEU! 75 demonstrates) about half the time, you land upon something that is going to age horrifically. 2/5 Key tracks: Isi, Seeland

Langweilig

It was ok. The last 3 songs were great. Very Wire/Sonic Youth kinda a sound.

Kind of enjoyable, very boring. A precursor to Explosions in the Sky.

This album is a tale of two sides…the first side is for the most part, pleasant background music. I really enjoyed the second track, Seeland. The second side, to me is a bunch of noise. Most of these songs are just too long. After side one I was set to give this one 3 stars, but after side two l am settling in at 2 stars.

Interesting. Some was very soothing instrumental music and some was hard edged rock. And some was really repetitive.

2/5 Instrumental with nature sound sampling. Feel like I need to use psychedelic drugs to appreciate. Kind of off putting lyrics.

Very atmospheric. Wanted to like it...and yet.

I was very impressed with how boring an album can be

I’m not sure who this album is for but it’s not for me.

i'm surprised i never checked this out before. it's always been on my radar, but today was my first listen. ... not super impressed, honestly. i mean, it's fine, but I think it had been built up in my head as this watershed krautrock release. but it seemed kinda bland. side two was better, but by then i'd checked out a bit.

Hatunnosto sille, että Neu oli tekemässä oppimateriaalia ai:lle, joka nyt tekee opiskelu- ja muun täytemusiikin soittolistoja.

Kuuntelin tätä jumpatessani kotona. Viivi: "tää on tämmöistä Wii Fit -musiikkia". Pisteet huvituksesta.

30 years ago when I was a teenage stoner, I may have found this album to have a cool vibe. A lot has changed in those years.

Honestly a little forgettable.

Yes and no

This was an uninteresting listen. This album couldn't quite figure out what it wanted to be. There are some artists who can put together an album of disparate styles and make it work. Someone like David Torn can mix ambient music with harder, more aggressive styles and maintain cohesiveness both within single tracks as well as across an entire album. This album doesn't manage it. The ambient-ish tracks were boring. I love ambient music, but this stuff was bland. The dip into a sort of proto-punk was bad and very much out of place. 2 stars.

Confused how this got on the list, honestly.

Aika tylsää kamaa, vähän rokkista elektronista instrumentaalia. Melkein ambienttia kunnes muuttuikin punkiksi. Instrukappaleet oli sentään rauhoittavia, mutta punk kappaleet pilas tunnelman.

Meh. Even for the genre wasn’t a huge Fan

When it’s just the music, this album is all about the vibes. Just super chill and enjoyable, then it gets absolutely ruined by the vocals about halfway through the album. I didn’t even finish it, the singing was so atrocious. Was leaning towards a 4, but a 2 is all this deserves with that voice.

The song Hero was ok but the rest did not interest me at all. 2 stars or D+.

The first two songs took me on a fairly nice instrumental and ambient journey. Felt a bit like Kraftwerk with "real" instruments instead of synths. 'Leb Wohl' was more of a drone than a piece of music. Would've slotted in nicely as a transition between the first and latter half of the album if it wasn't so incredibly long. 9 minutes of empty space is way too long. The last 3 songs felt like the exact same song but different sections of it. Same drum beat, same key, same chords, almost same tempo, etc. Would've been fine as a 3 minute piece, but not 20 minutes. In summary this wasn't too bad, and was nice background music to listen to when working. But everything is just way too long for what it gives you. I enjoyed the first 2 and parts of Hero, but the rest was just overflow. Strong 2.

They say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, well in that case they have just flattered the fuck out of Jean Michel Jarre. Yeah it was done well and was enjoyable to listen to but very much I've heard it all before. It's a lot better than many of the 2's I've given, but I don't think it worthy of a 3.

This was so mellow and ambient that it just washed over me, entering my consciousness every now and then in a reasonably nice way. Stuff like this is for doing things and listening to it in the background. I wouldn't dare listen to it in the bath, as I might relax so much and drown. Did anyone check to see what Whitney Houston was listening to that fateful day? I bet it was this.

Excessive monotony. The performers can't deny theyr roots as former members of Kraftwerk. It's hard on the limit between music and noise. I can survive verry well without listening.

This album sounds like it would be used in the background of a government PSA or work safety instruction video in the 90s. Boring.

Most of it felt like a bunch of Sega Gensesis video game songs. This is like that hipster kid who tries unique stuff to be cool, but it mainly misses the mark. there are some cool things in here but not enough to warrant another listen.

On se fait un peu trop chier

I actually liked this less on the second listen. You can tell it’s two guys doing their own thing separately. First half sounds like spa music or something off a meditation app. Second half is just a bit rubbish. Can see it was probably ahead of its time and influenced post rock but still… Want to give it 1.5 b cause it’s not quite bad enough for a one

It was weird. I didn't really like it

Ambient sound, calming, few lyrics. First half was good but the second half ruined the vibe.

Starts off pretty good. I like Isi. It's a feel good, happy dance instrumental. Seeland is kinda slow and boring but I like the big reverb sound. Leb Wohl sounds like some music for a deep breathing meditation or maybe good to fall asleep to. Hero is pretty rocking. His vocal sytlings are a bit cringe. OK suddenly there are vocals but I can't understand any of the words. Doesn't feel like this is the same band as the first three songs. E-Musik is unremarkable and not really experimental. Mostly annoying that it's a long song that goes nowhere. After Eight has good rocking energy. But just plods along as a washy beat with unintelligible lyrics. nah.

I can’t think of anything to say about this. Not horrible and not interesting.

This album was weird and confusing. It went from soft instrumental rock to music you’d hear while getting a massage, and then it moved to rocking out (sorta) in German. Didn’t feel cohesive and it was also pretty boring.

This album struggled to hold my attention. And maybe thats by the nature of it being half ambient music, but I enjoyed the Eno album's I've had so far. This just didnt have the same pull for me. And by the time the 9 minute Leb' wohl ends, the album turns on a dime into something different, a half of an album I also didn't care too much for. All in all, very skippable for me. My favorite here would have to be Isi.

Bits of good music surrounded by uncomfortably slow and quiet ambient sounds.

Weird album, part slow ambient and part punkish.

Pretty atmospheric and ambient for the first half. Immediately shifts tones for the last half of the album with some long, layered rock sounds. I guess some of this group's members were formerly of Kraftwerk, which sort of checks out given the sound of the last half of the album. I don't think this really holds a candle to the work that Kraftwerk has put out though. There's something slightly different here, as it leans more into somewhat of a psychedelic rock sound. I didn't really get the sense of feeling satisfied after listening through this one, though. Not an album I'll think about ever again.

Background noise? Nothing important. It's chill except 4th song. I really cannot grasp what happened there.

Really?

Relaxing in places

Took me by surprise this album. I had it on whilst baking and initially felt really relaxing … until it wasn’t.

It was ok.

Half of the songs sounded like a movie soundtrack and the other half gross.

I was into the first few songs and then... not so much

There is undoubtedly something new here for the time. Proto post punk but it gones on and on. Some judicious editing could have really made this something special, but now dated I feel. 2.5*

Joutokamaa.

Interesting at first but finished in a repetitive and kind of chaotic place that didn't feel like it paid its dues to the first part of the album. Not for me but impressively modern for 1975.

Chiller than chill. Practically meditative. It's nice, although Hero takes a turn to more of a club music vibe with punk vocal strainings. Then E-Musik seems to be almost 10 minutes of the same riff over and over and over... unfortunately, the aforementioned meditative quality has slipped into a \"poke-my-eyes-out\" quality. I'm tapping out.

Not really my thing

I like the more ambient first half, as sort of background music. The "singing" in the second half is just absurd and not pleasant. It feels ahead of its time for 1975, with all the synth work and the sort of punk-ish feel. The drums and bass were pretty repetitive and boring, even in the higher-energy second half. Songs seemed like they just went on for too long, like this was a long jam session that was recorded. Overall, I can see how later artists might have been influenced by this, but I didn't super enjoy it.

First half is stupid, second half is marginally ok. This is a generous 2

An interesting album. I enjoyed the instrumental tracks but the singing not so much.

Two good tracks and then downhill from there.

This album starts out as perfect concentration music. It’s enjoyable and keeps my brain focused enough to ignore outside noises. Then track 4 happens and it all goes to hell. Tracks 5 and 6 aren’t terrible but it’s a jarring difference from where the album started.

What started as pleasant, chill music transformed into what sounded like music for crackheads. Like what the actual hell. I would love to give this one star, but I can't discount the okay music at the beginning. C'mon on now. You're telling me this is a must-listen-to album? Are you fucking kidding me? Sick. Siiiiiiiiiiick, dude.

Sounds like hold music

GENERISCH!

Pretty bland and boring and was a slugfest even halfway .

Seems very nice, but also quite slow - mostly instrumental krautvibes are not really my lane I've learned today

Listened Before? N It's not terrible, but I'm not sure why it's on this list. I guess we just needed multiple examples of the mighty "krautrock" genre? The whole thing is meh. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: ISI

This sounds like scores for a movie like Mission Impossible. Intense into slow dramatic moment where Tom Cruise is making out with some girl. Weird album. 2.5 stars

STANDOUTS: Isi OVERALL: 2.5/5; I was EXCITED for the first half's Mannheim-esque noises and general ambiance...but then the second half of the album got weird.

It’s giving Nintendo or Wii games vibes so bad, but it’s like so moody too? Like emo-Wii games vibes. Most songs are just atmospheric, no words or none. 4.1/10.

First track was nice but I didn’t enjoy the rest of it.

4/10 - It was all over the place in a way I do not enjoy. it sounded a bit like tago mago which lucas says makes sense bc its the same genre. A few songs were ambient and then Hero was crazy and loud.

Ambient and cool at times. In general good experimental tunes with great resolutions. All in all not for me. Too experimental for new wave and not enough emotion for first wave. Punky at times which lends to first wave. Not bad but not for me.

Neu! Neu? Neu... (Neu*) Nah.

The ambient tracks were nice, but I wasn't a fan of the songs with vocals. Maybe this was good in the 70s but it doesn't really have enough content to hold up.

I think they're trying to show music is art here. As with all art, music is subjective and can be viewed in many facets. For me it's far too spacious and open for my liking

not for me. i like long songs but not for 5 consecutive songs

This album is bipolar between the atmospheric groove and the protopunk. At one point I though I was listening to the B-Side of the original Top Gun Soundtrack and all of a sudden I was listening to the bootleg of the Sex Pistols recorded from the closet down the hall. Honestly, I didn’t hate it but I can’t say it will be a frequent listen. Actually, I’ll forget about it by the end of the week….

disappointing

What I can only describe as music for cave people. Did not enjoy

I would never say to anyone, "oh man you have absolutely got to hear this album" in reference to this very mediocre album. 2/5

Not my cup of tea

Decent 70s electronic instrumentals, but not much to hold on to.

Why not

I mean, its ok. Would be fine not listening to before I die but whatevs.

Empieza como un instrumental aburridisimo y después tiene dos temas un poco más movidos en el que no sabes si son palabras o ruidos guturales. Desaprobado.

2 - It's kinda just boring? Not as scary as some other Krautrock I've listened to, but there wasn't anything that I really liked.

Die ersten drei Songs wären fast 4 Sterne wert. Die Soundscapes sind für ihre Zeit super! Der Gesang geht so, aber ist selten. Leider sind die Lieder danach Schrott.

p338. 1975. 2 stars. Bland, pointless mostly instrumental noodling. Bonus star for the production.

Kinda weird instrumental mixed with random weird vocals

Interesting for one listen. It was soothing experimental rock, with some ethereal vibes. In the vein of Can, which was nice to be exposed to, but won't listen again. 2/5.

The first couple songs feel like they could be in a game by an indie dev - chill and somewhat reflective, like a narrative walking sim. The two tracks with "vocals", however, are straight pain to listen to. Just flat out garbage. Not a good album. Fav tracks: N/A

This is the type of music you listen to while you are on hold at the doctor’s office. Boring.

1/7, 14%

Weird vibes

Has a sunny propulsive sound to it like the ysrat of a movie seeing someone's day begin ... An emotional tone form the keyboard a believe. I am adding this to 'focus" music... Good for working without lyrics. Upbeat. Like. Yes if the rest is like track one... Optimism in a bottle...for a few tracks anyway. Did like the lyrics or industrials

Not bad, nothing great.

This music is atmospheric...I guess? There's a lot of ambient sounds throughout but the music is so incredibly (and purposefully) repetitive that it just feels boring to me. Track 3 ("Leb Wohl") is 8 minutes of the same 3 slow piano chords with what sounds like a metronome instead of drums and waves crashing; there are lyrics for part of it that are breathy and maybe if I spoke the language they were in they'd resonate with me more.

This album didn’t seem particularly special.

The first song sounded like the into to 80s macgyver type show where the characters turn and smile and give you a thumbs up. The second song delves into a David Bowie Labyrinth vibe, followed by a very relaxing peaceful song - all pleasant enough. Next few songs things fall apart for me in this hybrid of electronic rock. I think may have been innovative for the time but that time has long passed. I will stick with Kraftwerk.

Fun little jam. Again, not sure how this belongs on a list with albums like Thriller or Kind of Blue but hey not my list.

Not my cup of tea.....

Wow… that was a ride…

First half is a whole lotta nothing. Second half is trying to be something, but still ends up being a whole lotta nothing.

Just kinda background music. Not my favorite 2 stars.

Nothing special in my opinion.

¿Entre los 1001 mejores? Conozco 1001 mejores que este disco

Complete background noise. Had no impact on me whatsoever, but didn't offend me at all.

Nothing here to like or dislike, had it on but didnt really listen as nothing grabbed my attention

Not a fan. First songs function well as background music and fade away quickly since there is nothing really interesting happening. The last songs, on the other hand, stay in the foreground but in a bad way. Just a bunch of noise. (Remove the vocalist and it probably would've been a 3).

Started off liking it, super chilled music, but then I just got bored. Just not my thing I guess.

Honestly it's whatever. I have no strong feelings each way towards it. It's just forgettable. I had it on but nothing grabbed me.

Instrumental only?

Some cool concepts, but the final 2 or 3 tracks could have been half as long and been better. Other sound scape songs are constantly changing, but these were just repetitive.

Not my fav. Too grungy.

cool to hear a new genre from the 70's that i didn't know existed, but its not for me

I feel like this album is missing cohesion. You start with some quasi electronic rock n roll and merge into a rain scape, the a proto punk song and end with 10 minute s on the same drum beat with a really slow build over it and into a wind storm. It's unique and creative but just not something I'm into.

This is not for me. The tracks with vocals made me want the instrumentals back. 2.

not really my thing to be honest. i did like the 3rd track, and the 4th track was okay. i would not listen to this album in entirety again.

Fine stuff. Not bad, not great.

Relatively run of the mill 70s electronic music from Germany. Didn’t do much for me, though like many people, I found the first half much more pleasant and enjoyable than the second half. Honestly, doesn’t seem that revolutionary in terms of electronic music, sort of basic really. It was fine. Probably could go digging and find much more interesting examples for the time period that better warrants a spot on this list.

I really liked Hero. The rest of what I heard was pretty unexciting or anything I’d want to hear. Seems like these guys were trying something new back in day.

It's German from the 70s? Uh-oh. The Wikipedia intro calls it krautrock? Double uh-oh. It all stems from "Faust IV," our first exposure to krautrock. I wrote in that review, though, that by the end of its awfulness I still didn't know what krautrock was. Then I didn't enjoy Kraftwerk. But Kraftwerk didn't sound like Faust. Then I think I skipped listening to Can. Then Neu! popped up, and my not fully earned anti-krautrock bias kicked in even before the first notes. I'm immediately dreading how bad it's going to be, and thinking of what other neu albums I could review instead? Something by The New Pornographers (several five-star albums)? Or "New Wave" by Against Me! (keeps the ! quota)? Or "The New Romance" by Pretty Girls Make Graves? But, I had to try Neu! first. And it turns out... it wasn't Faust. It wasn't Kraftwerk. And then I read about krautrock. And found out that "the term 'krautrock' was popularized by British music journalists as a humorous umbrella-label for the diverse German scene... although many so-labeled artists disliked the term" and "broad genre encompassing varied approaches." Well, yeah, now this makes a bit more sense. I can't get a handle on what krautrock is because it is too varied to even be a genre. Faust, Kraftwerk, Can, and Neu! all sound different. And Neu! doesn't sound terrible. It doesn't sound good either though. And it's not good isn't all the same. The first half of the album is completely different from the second half. The first half is boring piano-prog, the second half is boring rock. Nothing really stands out. Nothing feels avant garde, or experimental, or any of the other things that supposedly tie the genre together. I went back and listed to Can after "NEU! 75," so now I'll have to go back and write about how that one isn't like these either. I still don't like krautrock, as far as krautrock is a thing. I've gotta stop pre-judging based on a first impression. Gonna practice just listening and giving things a chance. It won't always work out, but sometimes at least I'll be surprised.

I saw this was described as krautrock and was dreading it. I saw this got not 1 star reviews and I was curious. Was it just me or did the first track feel like it could have been written by Mannheim Steamroller?! Is Mannheim Steamroller krautrock?! Anyway, not what I was expecting, but still not my favorite.

I didn’t mind it as much as I thought I would when I read it was Electronic, but it was so inoffensive that it failed to push any boundaries. Entertaining and enjoyable in some parts, bland in the rest. 2/5

Neu was so busy trying to see if they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should. The A side is interesting. They create some beautiful soundscapes almost punk/electronic/ambient mix. The B side is more pink or post punk. It’s a bizarre mix. 4.8/10

I'm not sure what to say about this album. It's interesting, melodic, kind of electronic rock. It's not kraftwerk electronic music. It's like early new wave I guess. It wasn't bad, just kind of forgettable

скучамба так то

A decent album for a different person

Perfectly okay instrumental music, I got bored with it pretty quickly after the first two tracks.

Not bad

Painfully slow, this genre is just not my thing at all. First half felt like yoga studio background music. Hero is a banger though.

fine but more focus/sleep music

Sin más. No creo que quiera volver a escucharlo. Krautrock, kosmische musik, experimental rock, psychedelic rock, proto-punk.

This album I found kind of boring. It seemed like it was going to get better about halfway through with the song Hero, but kind of petered out after that.

In between bouts of atmospheric repetition that lulls you to sleep, there’s a bit of fun energy here. But boy do you have to work for it. For a mostly instrumental album, I needed something a bit more involved to keep my interest. This one just wasn’t it for me.

This was trying to kill me. I was driving and it tried to lull me to sleep.

I'm more and more sure I don't like Krautrock

If you can’t sing, then maybe stick to instrumentals. The first couple songs were kind of nice until the guy started singing. It does not deserve a 3 or more. 2/5

Boring

that was fine ambient whatever music until dude started screaming incoherently toward the end there

Perfectly pleasant to listen to, but why does it make this list?

Not sure what to think.. Average I guess

I've listened to their debut before which was alright. This one was similarly alright. "Hero" let it down a bit, regardless of whether or not it was a catalyst for the punk invasion that was soon to follow. First track was the best, rest were pretty skippable but not offensive. 2.5*

Sounds like the soundtrack to a movie that I would fall asleep halfway through.

I listened to this last Friday and - if I'm being honest - can't remember a damn thing about it now that it's Monday. That's not typically a good sign.

Not for me.

lightly repetitive background music with a small amount of dicking around- like if someone wanted to turn Tago Mago into into royalty-free music. like drinking a krautrock-flavored lacroix

2.5/5 Had to listen to it twice to even notice what was playing

Interesting sound but did not super enjoy it.

Don't really get this at all.

Hmm... I can definitely see why this is influential, being basically post-punk before the punk movement had even really fully taken off, but I find it mostly either boring or annoying, with only snippets of an enjoyable album peeking from behind. I could totally get why someone liked this, but not really for me.

sounded like wii music

It’s a vibe. I dunno if it’s good or not but it’s a vibe nonetheless. Opens with Wii Bowling music, ends with distorted mumbo jumbo. Sure, why not?

Esperava mais para ampliar o gosto pelo Krautrock. Algumas faixas funcionam bem como ambient. As com vocal destoam.

I think actually I just don't like krautrock that much. does some cool stuff but it's just not for me. I don't think I would ever really come back and listen to this again. best tracks: hero, isi, e-musik

A mix between white noise soundscapes and German Mick Jagger yelling. It starts off a real snoozefest in the first half - calming, instrumental, drone music if you like that stuff... THEN he starts mumbling secret messages into the microphone while ocean sounds play in the background...THEN the beat kicks up and he starts yelling like a freak while playing punk rock... THEN it turns into Silent Hill on the PS1... THEN I had to go to Youtube to listen to the last song, and it's back to The German Rolling Stones. I actually liked the second half. 2.5/5

It was alright. First half nearly put me to sleep while driving though.

2.5 stars

I'm confused.... what is their sound.... oh they're a German group, ah right, that explains it. You either love it or hate it, and i hate punk and post punk, and moreso German interpretation of punk and post punk... so you can guess where this is going. It opened well with isi, quite liked that track... and then I was transcended into a sea of tranquility in the relaxation room at the Spa... and then a blast of post punk guitar and smash smash drum rhyrhm woke me up again... tbh not the worst album I've ever heard, but I sure won't be listening to it again, it's just so inconsistent swing in sounds for each track.

Weird elevator music

Sin más. No creo que quiera volver a escucharlo. Krautrock, kosmische musik, experimental rock, psychedelic rock, proto-punk

Unfortunately bland. Too much like background music.

Enjoyed the first 2 tracks but mostly because its inoffensive background music. The rest of the album was shite.

Weird in a good way. Not good enough to enjoy however

I actually liked a lot of slow minimal ambient stuff. With the right singer it could’ve been really cool. Didn’t like the more conventional rock songs with lyrics as much. 2.5- 3

I don’t think krautrock is for me. Maybe this album is important somehow but i found it incredibly boring

Not a fan. First songs function well as background music and fade away quickly since there is nothing really interesting happening. The last songs, on the other hand, stay in the foreground but in a bad way. Just a bunch of noise.

no tengo idea que pretendía

Couple alright songs but a weird album to put in the punk genre

I liked the first part, the nature sounds were a nice touch. It was soothing and mellowing in a new age sort of way. Then it became loud and raucous. I did not appreciate the contrast too much.

None for me, thanks. Way too boring and repetitive.

First song didn’t catch me

snooze

Etwas plätscheriger Krautrock. Hero kann ich beim besten Willen nichts abgewinnen. ISI gefällt mir noch am besten. Gute zwei.

I get that it’s ahead of it’s time but ambient proto-post-punk just isn’t anything I want to listen to.

Kinda ethereal and mostly instrumental. Nothing special.

Not really sure what category this falls in, but to me it's innocuous backrgound music at most.

Wow, what can I say to this... it's something. Description of cosmic music fits, but not in the best of ways. Not for me

I listened while walking home. Peaceful for a period of time.

I need to stop reading the wiki because I’ve gone in expecting the world seeing NME give this a 10/10. I enjoyed the album like but feel I need to listen to it with headphones. My rating could easily be higher but I’m not listening to it again because Arctic Monkeys just released ‘The Car’ so I don’t have the fucking time

rock that didn't really vibe for me

I enjoyed the first few tracks and can only imagine how cool it was back in the mid 1970s. The back half, not so mucb

The album is almost entirely just instruments. Very little lyrics, but when there were lyrics they were not good. The album is only 42 minutes and 6 songs, so all of the songs are too long. Overall it was just ok. The songs did not go anywhere. It is best describe it as punk rock.

Sounds like it was recorded when synths were tens of thousands of dollars. Definite Epcot Center or Boston Museum of Science Commercial vibes to the synth patches. Much too dated sounding to become a part of my regular rotation.

it's fine.

I don’t remember if this was good or bad, so it probably wasn’t great.

Definitely not something I would choose to listen to, but I found the first 65% of the album good ambient noise to work to. It did get a little distracting towards the end but I did enjoy how many of the songs built.

Very prog rock. Gotta be in the right mood but good.

Sleepy kraut rock. This was gonna be a 3 but then the vocals came in and legit made me want to take a nap.

I was confused by this album. The rhythm seemed to be all over the place. Maybe it was a case of the wrong place wrong time. I’ll listen to it again in the future. 2.5 / 5

This is another one of those albums where I feel if I "got it"" I would have liked it better. But as it is it wasn't for me...the music was fine, if all over the place, but I just don't get why I needed to listen to this

There wasn't anything interesting about this. It was just noise to me.

Not bad

The names Gepetto and Cornelius never really took off. At least not in the United States. Neither did this album. I can take some responsibility since I refused to name my children Gepetto or Cornelius or even NEU!

nice listening. prob wont be coming back to it

Was ok. Pretty chill but not amazing

Ihh, a bit weird and not really enjoyable. Found myself wondering a few times why I would ever listen to it.

Neu no!

Interesting but not my taste

Not my cup of tea. I could see how the might have influenced the punk movement. Sounded a little David Bowie ish at times.

Lots of layered open space. Airy. Droning. A little mellow for my taste. C

I’m guessing LSD would make this a lot more enjoyable

The acid was strong on this one.

Enjoyed while working, wouldn't listen otherwise

I can see how it was influential, but I found it a chore to get through. It picks up a little steam toward the end but by then...meh. Only giving it a 2 because better records were clearly inspired by this.

Zeer ontspannen achtergrondmuziek. Maar gaat op een gegeven moment ook wel een beetje vervelen. **

Nah, ok start; bit spacy to my taste. Then it just got worse. The best thing about this album is that it isn't that long luckily.

background music 2.5

First few were good

I liked the more ambient tracks than the more rolling stones songs. Overall, not something I'll need to revisit.

Soothing… in a weird way…

… the majority of these songs were literally just white noise? and then the times there was actual singing it was not good… the songs were also really unnecessarily long and i got impatient with the repetition

"Isi" - the first song on the album - is such a nice intro; hard not to love the gently building major melody; the added synths/sequencers partway through are slightly-reminiscent of mid-Who period. The problem for me is ... that song works as described: a lovely intro. After listening to it (and it doesn't really *go* anywhere, which would be fine if only...) serve as such, I want/expected the story to start. "Isi" serves as a transitional piece - an overture. After 4 minutes I wanted more and the rest of the songs just end up following the same slightly-repetitive pattern only less-catchy. ...except for "Hero" - that song is a damn abomination. Stop singing. Please. Best suited for background music to an indie-film about a divorced guy driving his pickup solo across the canadian prairies with no other dialogue. 4/10 2 stars.

Why is the singer doing a G-Man from Half-Life impression. First half was very chill and inoffensive (almost boring at times). Second half was punk before punk was even a thing. Clearly very influential and ahead of its time. Not something I would willingly listen to though. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy I listened to this, but I think one time's enough.

Really like the first song, rest is maybe too punky for my taste. Need to defo listen again

Just sort of washed over me tbh

Nomas para saber

An ok electronic album. The first few songs were pretty chill and enjoyable. They then started getting less exciting a little weird. Felt like I was getting bored halfway. But the genre of krautrock is cool. 3.9/10

Interesting sounds at the start of the album, like a film sound track or opening credits on a TV show. Diverts from this as the album goes on, not for me.

Fine in the background but wasn’t revelatory

Not terrible, but I didn’t love it.

Actually meh

Didn’t get much of a chance to listen to this one

Ok mere instrumental 70er atmosfære musik tilsat punk... Lidt kedeligt og uinteressant

Dang it. It started out with a sound I really liked...then the 'singer' came in and basically slapped it in the face. Disappointing.

reminds me of early Jean Michel Jarre. Not my kind of thing, but horses for courses i guess

It's just really mellow. Probably good if you're doing your taxes, but then a "Hero" comes along and you say what the heck was that? And did the mic get blown over in E Musik?

Fine, mostly instrumentals so not a huge fan.

Boring

Tardo casi media hora en empezar el disco

Suave.

On the first half I liked the overall structure of the compositions a lot, could have been really good - but too minimalistic for my tastes in terms of execution. Could have profitted from fuller-sounding production or some more compositional detail. Would have rated it a 3. The second half was just pretty bad rock. I can see how it must have been fresh and interesting in terms of ideas back in the 70s and I think I can hear its influence on the great David Bowie. But as a modern-day listener I really don't like it and would rate it a 1.5.

yehhhhhha ha

What an odd album, would be better as a score to a film or TV show 2 - not for me but doesn't hurt my ears

A bit too much like background music for me to get excited about. Nothing negative about it as such. Just nothing standing out to blow my mind. Hero is a nice catchy 70’s rock tune. Good to see lyrics and vocals introduced to the record late on.

Kinda all over the place

Mostly white noise, or screaming rock 2/5

NEU! 75 surprises by its singularity. Kraftwerk's style is an obvious inspiration but nothing truly sounds like the 6 songs on this album. Is it the latest Vangelis' score ? Lost Pink Floyd's recordings ? Is it a punk album ? Electro ? Rock ? Well, as a whole, the album does not fit in any box. On the other hand, NEU! 75 is as experimental as it can be from a German group in the mid-70s. It goes everywhere, not really planned and especially not really ambitious. The songs stretch for miles repeating themselves for no reason and listening to them is hard. As a background-ambience-album, NEU! 75 will please but as a 42-minute experience, it disappoints.

I once let Noel Edmunds and wolf from gladiator shit on my chest

This was very relaxing, so much so that I kept falling aslep while listening. I don't really know what else there is to be said about it, it relaxes. It doesn't do anything too dramatic that would cause one to unrelax, it just floats along.

Muy ambiental. Ideal para dejarlo de fondo mientras trabajas o tratas de relajarte. No es más que eso. Muy New Age para mí.

Not the biggest fan... 2/5

I think this band had something to say but I didn't get it. A 9 minute song which is mostly a recording of ocean waves and the occasional lyric doesn't really do it for me. Defying conventions, but alienating listeners. Had great promise, but not really for me. Maybe will try their other albums.

Background music at best

This is just instrumental with white noise. It's not bad but it's not my thing either.
