Reviews (page 3 of 15)
*listened before the project* Yeh, it’s really a MUST listen one.
Probably my favourite Album by PF. Space athmosphere and master musicianship. Love it. Fav: Wish You were here
es un gran descubrimiento
Excellent album
Truly "random" to get this right after Dark Side of the Moon?!? Another monster of a Floyd album. I'm admittedly not a superfan and couldn't tell you the ups and downs of their entire discography, but to have these two albums released back to back in the span of two years is pretty stunning. Tons of similarities, while maybe advancing some of the more electronic elements (Welcome to the Machine) and perhaps being a little more personal and emotional. I'm not sure it's better than DSOTM but stands right next to it I think as my two favorites of theirs.
Pink Floyds pletskud
This album is definitely one of the big ones. Everything needed to say has already been said so I won't be adding anything here.
Bien
One of the greatest albums if not THE greatest
fckng best album ever. Definitely my favourite band and one of my favourites albums
Classic album, Must listen to.
Masterpiece
A solid five star classic, and regular companion in my musical journey since it came out Its in my top 100 albums of all time
Best album ever
Psychedelic, synthy, a bit funky, and full of heart. About as good as it gets. 5/5.
Masterpiece, nothing more to add. If you gave it less than a 5, shame on you!!
A partir amé muchísimo el arte, Pink Floyd y Wish You Were Here.

WHAT THE INCREDIBLE
Top 1 right now
Classic. My first 5 star.
It’s fantastic. As a concept album, I acknowledge that it’s better listened to all at once than listening to individual songs. My only mark on it is that it does not have that “crowning moment”, that “Beethoven’s 9th finale” moment of “it all led up to this moment of euphoria” that I want to get from concept albums. But I’m nitpicking, which I think is fair for such a revered album. It’s sonically pure, hyper detailed, and an all time classic.
20/10 Perfecto
Best album of all time!
obvi
PEC.
Pink Floyd does whatever Pino Floyd wants. And it usually turns out pretty epic. So how do you follow up Dark Side of the Moon, with two 12+ minute songs separated by 3 amazing songs that have only gotten more popular since its release.
Banger after Banger. The whole album tells a story of feelings and takes you with it. One of the best!
A wonderful adventure, as it always is with floyd. Its like a journey pulled along by these guitar riffs. You could probably listen to just the guitar and it be a 4* album. But with everything else on top its a 5*
Sounds like my childhood and the rest of my adulthood. Isn't that interesting.
eh
10/10 no notes. Skön lugn go Pink Floyd-rock.
He dicho, y de ahí no me bajáis.
I love pink Floyd (I hate Roger Waters)
Just incredible
Love it
One of the albums that put me on the path of discovering music as a youngin. Easiest 5
If anyone gives this anything other than a 5 they better have a valid reason
Best Pink Floyd album.
didn’t realize shine was a 5 million minute long song so that was news to me! this is a really good album. classic and high quality. not something that i’m absolutely desperate to listen to again but i do really appreciate it. GUYS I RETROACTIVELY AM GIVING THIS A 5 IM SORRY I DIDNT BEFORE I MADE A MISTAKE OK!!
Like many of their other albums, listening to this is an experience. As a whole this album is very complete and consistent and the songs flow together nicely. Having said that, to me the highlights are the two Shine On You Crazy Diamond medlies but they're both too long to add them to my playlist.
Classic, what else to say
In the early years of collecting records, I always thought I would come across this album used but I never did. More 25 years later, I think it is time I just buy it new. Great album and not even Pink Floyd’s best.
More psychedelic?? awww generator site you shouldn't have... 🩷 I was originally listening to this at work and decided I wasn't emotionally ready for this album at work. All of these songs are 5-15 minutes but they feel so short. The album was over before I knew it and I started listening again. My expectations for this album were so high and they surpassed them. This is the first Pink Floyd album I got from this list that clicked with me. Easy 5
There's a pretty good argument that this might be the greatest album ever made. It's a perfect execution of a concept album, from the story to the superb production to the highly emotional music. It holds relisten value like few other albums. 5.0/5.0: Iconic
fantastic record
I like how it didn't feel a traditional album
Been a long while, since I had listened to this album. It is rare that I am in the mood to take this trip. Melancholic rock with a sad message almost at the angry stage of grief. Classic album by a classic band that takes you on a journey of how they felt. 0 songs added to playlist. Should be listened to as an album.

# **Wish You Were Here** — Pink Floyd (1975) ## An In-Depth Review Released on **September 12, 1975**, *Wish You Were Here* arrived at a pivotal moment for Pink Floyd. Following the monumental, multi-million-selling success of *The Dark Side of the Moon* (1973), the band faced immense pressure to deliver something equally profound. Rather than attempting to replicate their previous masterpiece, they created an album that was more personal, more melancholic, and arguably more cohesive in its conceptual execution. Recorded primarily at **Abbey Road Studios** between January and July 1975, the album represents Pink Floyd at the height of their creative powers—while simultaneously documenting their disillusionment with fame and the music industry. --- ## **The Concept & Themes** The album operates on **two interconnected conceptual layers**: ### 1. **Absence and the Ghost of Syd Barrett** The dominant theme is **absence**—specifically the absence of founding member Syd Barrett, whose mental decline and departure from the band in 1968 haunted Pink Floyd throughout their career. The album is bookended by the nine-part suite "**Shine On You Crazy Diamond**" (Parts I-V on Side One, Parts VI-IX on Side Two), a direct, heartfelt tribute to Barrett. Roger Waters' lyrics on "Shine On" are devastating in their simplicity: *"Remember when you were young / You shone like the sun / Shine on you crazy diamond"* contrasts sharply with the later realization: *"Now there's a look in your eyes / Like black holes in the sky."* The song captures the tragedy of watching a brilliant friend deteriorate mentally, caught "*in the crossfire of childhood and stardom / Blown on the steel breeze."* Ironically, Barrett himself made an unannounced visit to Abbey Road on **June 5, 1975**, while the band was mixing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond." Now overweight, with a shaved head and eyebrows, he was initially unrecognizable to his former bandmates. David Gilmour reportedly asked, "Who is this guy?" Waters has noted that "Shine On" uses Barrett as *"a symbol for all the extremes of absence some people have to indulge in because it's the only way they can cope with how fucking sad it is, modern life."* ### 2. **The Music Industry as Machine** The middle section of the album—"**Welcome to the Machine**" and "**Have a Cigar**"—pivots to a critique of the corporate music industry that had consumed Pink Floyd since their success. These tracks explore how the industry processes artists as commodities, chews them up, and spits them out when they've exhausted their commercial value. "Welcome to the Machine" uses synthesizers and sound effects to create an oppressive, dystopian atmosphere representing the industry as a mechanized processor of human souls. "Have a Cigar" takes a more satirical approach, featuring the famous line: *"The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think / Oh, by the way, which one's Pink?"*—a direct quote from an actual record executive who didn't realize "Pink Floyd" was the band's name, not a person's. The title track, "**Wish You Were Here**," serves as the emotional bridge between these two concepts. It addresses both Barrett's withdrawal from reality and the band's own feelings of alienation and detachment from each other during the difficult recording sessions. The lyrics—*"We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl / Year after year"*—universalize the theme of isolation and longing for genuine human connection. --- ## **Musical Composition & Structure** The album's structure is deliberately architectural: | Track | Duration | Description | |-------|----------|-------------| | Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I-V) | ~13:30 | Epic opening suite with extended instrumental passages | | Welcome to the Machine | ~7:30 | Dark synthesizer-driven critique of the industry | | Have a Cigar | ~5:08 | Blues-rock satire with Roy Harper on vocals | | Wish You Were Here | ~5:35 | Acoustic ballad, the emotional centerpiece | | Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts VI-IX) | ~12:30 | Reprise and conclusion, more uptempo and cathartic | The decision to split "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" into two bookend pieces was reportedly due to vinyl space limitations, though some critics have questioned this rationale. ### **Key Musical Elements:** **David Gilmour's Guitar Work**: The album features some of Gilmour's most emotive playing. The four-note guitar motif that anchors "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" has been described as capturing *"a sort of indefinable, inevitable melancholy about the disappearance of Syd."* His solos are economical yet devastating—never showy, always serving the emotional content of the songs. **Richard Wright's Keyboards**: Wright's contributions are essential to the album's atmospheric quality. The opening of "Shine On" features a sustained keyboard chord that lasts over two minutes, slowly emerging from silence to create an almost spiritual sense of anticipation. His use of the **ARP Solina** string synthesizer, **MiniMoog**, and **Wurlitzer** electric piano adds textural depth throughout. **Roger Waters' Bass & Lyrics**: Waters wrote all the lyrics for the album, as he had for *Dark Side of the Moon*. His bass playing is understated but foundational, particularly on "Have a Cigar" where it locks into a funky groove with Wright's clavinet. **Nick Mason's Drumming**: Mason's drumming is tasteful and restrained, serving the songs rather than dominating them. The timpani heartbeat in "Welcome to the Machine" is particularly effective. **Guest Musicians**: Dick Parry returns on saxophone (as he did on *Dark Side*), adding soulful lines to "Shine On You Crazy Diamond." Folk singer **Roy Harper** provides lead vocals on "Have a Cigar"—a decision made because neither Waters nor Gilmour were satisfied with their own vocal takes on the track. --- ## **Production & Sound** The album was engineered by **Brian Humphries** (who had worked on *Obscured by Clouds*) and produced by Pink Floyd themselves. Notably, **Alan Parsons**—who had engineered *Dark Side of the Moon*—did not return, having launched his own successful career with *Tales of Mystery and Imagination*. The production is characterized by: - **Immaculate sonic clarity**: Every instrument is precisely placed in the stereo field - **Use of silence and space**: The album breathes; there are no unnecessary notes - **Innovative sound effects**: Radio static, wine glasses (from the abandoned "Household Objects" project), footsteps, and other ambient sounds create atmosphere - **Stereo panning**: Particularly effective on "Welcome to the Machine," where sounds swirl around the listener The famous opening of "Wish You Were Here" features a simulated radio tuning between stations, with the opening chords processed to sound distant and crackling before the full, clean guitar enters—symbolizing the distance between the listener and the absent subject of the song. --- ## **Pros of the Album** 1. **Conceptual Cohesion**: Unlike many concept albums, *Wish You Were Here* maintains a tight thematic focus throughout. The two "Shine On" bookends create a perfect circular structure. 2. **Emotional Resonance**: The album achieves a rare balance of personal specificity (the Barrett tribute) and universal themes (alienation, loss, the dehumanizing effects of capitalism). 3. **Musical Economy**: Despite containing extended instrumental passages, there is no wasted space. Every note serves a purpose. Gilmour's guitar work is particularly praised for being *"exactly what the song needs"* rather than self-indulgent. 4. **Production Quality**: The album sounds immaculate—warm, spacious, and detailed. It rewards headphone listening and remains a hi-fi reference standard 50 years later. 5. **Timelessness**: While rooted in the mid-1970s, the themes of corporate exploitation ("Welcome to the Machine," "Have a Cigar") feel remarkably prescient in the modern streaming era. 6. **"Shine On You Crazy Diamond"**: Many consider this 26-minute suite to be among the greatest compositions in progressive rock history—a perfect blend of atmospheric instrumental work and emotional lyrical content. --- ## **Cons & Criticisms** 1. **The Split Structure of "Shine On"**: Some listeners and critics argue that dividing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" into two parts disrupts the flow. While understandable for vinyl constraints, the album requires manual reassembly to experience the full suite as intended. 2. **"Welcome to the Machine" Can Feel Overlong**: At over seven minutes, some listeners find this track repetitive or overly oppressive. One reviewer noted: *"I lost interest in this track within about the second minute, making it the weakest track on the album."* 3. **The Title Track's Simplicity**: Some progressive rock purists view "Wish You Were Here" as too straightforward—a simple acoustic ballad that could fit on *Meddle* or *Atom Heart Mother*. One reviewer called it *"boring"* and noted it *"just has no colour at all"* compared to the more complex material. 4. **Roy Harper's Vocals on "Have a Cigar"**: While many appreciate Harper's contribution, both Waters and Gilmour later expressed regret at not singing it themselves—not because of Harper's performance, but because they felt they should have made a definitive choice between their own versions. 5. **Two Concepts, One Album**: Some critics argue the album tries to do too much—simultaneously addressing Barrett's absence AND critiquing the music industry. One reviewer suggested: *"Had each one been dedicated to an entire album, there would be much more scope for lyrics, repeated themes, different viewpoints."* 6. **Less Experimental Than Earlier Work**: For fans of Pink Floyd's more avant-garde period (1968-1971), *Wish You Were Here* can feel too polished, too controlled—*much tighter and less experimental than their Psychedelic era works.* --- ## **Legacy & Influence** *Wish You Were Here* has grown in stature since its release. While initial reviews were somewhat mixed—coming in the shadow of *Dark Side of the Moon*—it is now universally recognized as one of the greatest albums in rock history. - **Commercial Success**: The album reached #1 in both the UK and US, though it didn't match *Dark Side*'s longevity on the charts. - **Critical Acclaim**: Frequently appears on "greatest albums" lists; many fans and some critics prefer it to *Dark Side of the Moon*. - **Cultural Impact**: The title track has become one of the most recognizable songs in rock history, played at countless memorials and moments of remembrance. The burning man handshake on the album cover (designed by Hipgnosis) has become iconic imagery representing the dehumanizing nature of corporate deals. - **Influence on Progressive Rock**: The album demonstrated that progressive rock could be commercially successful without sacrificing artistic integrity or conceptual ambition. It influenced generations of musicians from Radiohead to Steven Wilson. --- ## **Final Verdict** *Wish You Were Here* is a **masterpiece of progressive rock** that succeeds on multiple levels: as a tribute to a lost friend, as a critique of the music industry, and as a meditation on absence and alienation in modern life. While it may lack the sonic innovation of *Dark Side of the Moon* or the theatrical ambition of *The Wall*, it compensates with emotional directness and musical cohesion. The album represents Pink Floyd at their most unified—before the interpersonal conflicts that would eventually tear them apart began to dominate. It is, as one reviewer noted, *"classic Pink Floyd from beginning to end"*—an album that *"tends to grow on you with every listen"* and reveals new depths with each return. **Overall Rating**: ★★★★★ (5/5) — An essential work in the progressive rock canon and arguably Pink Floyd's most emotionally affecting album.
Classico.
oh yeah throwback very clearly halfway between dark side and the wall. ok it's time to go home review is over i shall decide between 4 and 5 stars on monday.
Crazy good, it’s an over used term but this is very much lynchian, complete fever dream of an album. All timer
Absolutely amazing I love Pink Floyd and everything about this album
I think the true mark of Floyd’s greatness is that any band who has tried sounding like them typically comes across as pretentious. Nobody did it quite like them (although Peter Gabriel/early Genesis came close).
Amazing that such a good album was constructed as a tribute to a fellow band member. I don’t love the last few minutes, but the rest of the album is brilliant.
Peak Floyd, IMO. Anything less than 5* is madness.
Absolute masterpiece.
A gem.
An all-time favorite. What can I say about it that hasn't already been said? Weakest song is of course "Welcome to the Machine" but it's not bad and the rest is absolutely sublime.
Pink Floyd is one of those bands where you need more than one album. And this is a good one. The opening to shine on you crazy diamond has been called the greatest four guitar notes ever played. Maybe. But it’s an album of all killer no filler. I rate it just below the wall and animals. Just above DSOTM. Maybe this above animals. And the wall. One of the few prog bands where I don’t feel I have to work to find enjoyment.
Post Syd the Floyd were all about the creative tension between Roger and the others, mainly Dave. Which of course is what makes great art, great pop and great rock and roll. Dark Side gets all the zeitgeist vibe, but this, closely followed by Animals, is peak Floyd. Roy Wood, Syd turning up fat and lost, Stephane Grappelli, Dave turning Wish You Were Here into a country and western song, Rick just soaring on the Shine On montage, all the element of greatness are here. Roger is in peak form, all the usual themes are present, but they were still nascent back in the day, and still speak to us all in the dark days of the misery that is the 21st century. It was great stoned, straight, early and late. I go looking for it, play the whole thing, and enjoy it as much now as I did back in the seventies. Perfect selection, now let's all put it back on and go around again.
Spacious, hurt, cynical, and haunted by absence, beautifully played. Probably my favourite Pink Floyd album and the one I played most as a teenager. I saw Pink Floyd live at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in January 1988. I sold my trenchcoat to a dodgy secondhand computer salesman to pay for tickets for me and my then girlfriend (who dumped me anyway). They opened their set with Shine On You Crazy Diamond Parts I-IV, which was some consolation.
This gets a reluctant 5. I wanted to like this more than I did. The way everyone talked about this album had me expecting a lot from it, and it didn't quite live up to that. It's good, don't get me wrong, but not mind blowing. "Wish You Were Here" is great, obviously. And I liked "Welcome to the Machine" as well as most of both "Shine On You Crazy Diamond"s. It still gets a 5 cause only one song on the album "Have A Cigar" not being my thing is still a pretty damn good ratio.
This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and completely stays as such on a re-listen! This is a wonderful piece of music to listen to in full. I enjoyed Welcome to the Machine particularly on this play through - so atmospheric.
I love a 10 minute+ prog track. Something that I can just drift off into my own loudly dream world. So, this album ticks those boxes. And with the added benefits of the other tracks, it’s a 5 out of 5 for me. Which, incidentally, is one higher than the 4 that I gave DSOTM. Standout tracks - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, pts 1-5 and 6-9
An album of all bangers and ZERO skips. Music that was FAR ahead of its time.
An absolute mega banger. Shine on you crazy diamonds part 1-5 is just a voyage, it’s incredible. Welcome to the machine gets synths and more intense. Have a cigar gets funky, such a fun song. Wish you were here - the perfect song. It’s so good. Chills and all. Closes out with the remainder of shine - soooo groovy, so many layers of keys and guitar, turns into a ride cymbal groove and just goes so hard, crazy guitar solo, such a journey. 5/5 album!
why is there a 9 part song that sandwiches the other few?? halfway thru pt 1-5 this is indeed quite epic. i feel like im in a sophisticated james bondy movie. oh theres words now. i like the guitar. doesnt need words. "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" is allowed to have 9 parts. this is epic. 4.5 would listen again as a whole- I really like how all of the songs blend
Pink Floyd as you like it. Mellow and dreamy.
Excellent album !
O que resume a minha nota é a faixa "Shine On You Crazy Diamond".
Um dos favoritos da vida
What a album! What a band! What a guitar leads! David Gilmour got the feeling. Sounds like a celestial song. I would give 1000 rate on this album if I could. No defects. 100% perfect.
Awesome
This is a classic. Very good album. Among the greatest.
One of the goats 5/5
Big Floyd fan here, this is right up there behind Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall. The world needs more songs like Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar.

cinema
C’est un signe, le stage va bien se passer. Cover de dingue et musique de dingue je jouis quand je l’écoute
Not my favourite Pink Floyd album but an absolute joy to listen to from start to finish. Musically diverse, each track picking up where the last left off but in a style all of its own.
Everyone talks about DOTSM but this is the perfect mix of Pink Floyd’s early experimental and pop song formats.
Classic!
Pink floyd are just great. Truest experiences through sound.
Oh man. This was rough but glorious.
Love it
Perfect album. I wish that every teenager and young 20 something in the world, throughout the generations has the chance to fall in love with Pink Floyd albums. Not single songs, but the whole album from beginning to end. As I get older I listen to Pink Floyd a lot less; they make me feel more melancholy now. But it doesn't change what a special place their music has in my life. Just thinking about some of the melodic swells in this album makes me feel emotional.
Great album, particularly side one. I did not always get their music but this one is a masterpiece
pink flojd legenda šalu na stranu, izvrsno, maestralno, potpuno opravdano uzdiže se u nebesa. mnogo mi bolje bilo od tamne strane mjeseca
An album that is structured as a 45 minute experience, not a collection of songs. More than the sum of it's parts, which are all good.
Que bonitas melodias, totalmente distintas a The dark side of the moon y puedo ver porque este album tambien tiene tanto reconocimiento, muy muy buen album
Amazing classic
Classic floyd
a lovely little space walk, rich synths, nice sax
5/5 ez
THIS is rock, this is music.
I won’t go into all the trivia and the backstory/lore (Syd Barrett’s studio visit, etc.), but simply put this is probably my favourite Pink Floyd album. I’ve listened to it countless times, but ‘Shine On You Crazy Diamond’ still gives me goosebumps. The build-up is incredible. It’s probably the single greatest thing they ever released, and they made the right call splitting it in two as well. ‘Welcome to the Machine’ gives me chills too, ‘Have a Cigar’ is a great rocker/guitar track, and ‘Wish You Were Here’ is just an all-time classic. Five perfect tracks, 5 stars.
I often hear people say "Dark Side of the Moon" is the best Pink Floyd album, but I think it has to be this one. "Wish You Were Here" as a track is so ubiquitous it sort of feels like it's old-hat, but do you remember what it felt like the first time you heard it? I was like Joe Pera with "Baba O'Riley", I just needed to hear it again and again and again. For that reason alone, this album is an all-timer. But as I've gotten older, I appreciate more the totality of the album -- "Have A Cigar" in particular really sticks with me. It's obvious take on the cynicism of commercialized music, but I feel like I relate to it as a cog in the corporate machine and how much I hate the "if we all pull together as a team" BS mentality. Anyway, what I'm saying is: this album is fantastic top to bottom. A+, wouldn't change anything.
I can’t imagine not liking this album
It’s just perfect, isn’t it?
Great long suites with a strong middle. Title track great.
There's so much already that's been said about this album. I agree with all the good things and disagree with the bad. This is a brilliant album to sit down and immerse yourself in.
Excellent album - probably second favourite Floyd album after Animals. Yes, ‘… Diamond’ is very long, but it’s also very, very good, and the other tracks are just as excellent. Happy day today.
Probably one of my most listened to albums ever
This was a perfect mood album. 5/5
Masterpiece, obviously. Have only parts of this album in the past and probably some live versions of the songs. Really good and iconic cover.
Fantastic prog rock! I do love when albums circle back to a previous motif. Five stars!
Ahhmazing, chefs kiss!
Amazing, best track was SOYCD 1-5, but title track was close 9.4/10
Pink Floyd are just one of those class acts that come around far too rarely - alongside Led Zeppelin and Rush they're so talented it just isn't fair on the rest of us. I love early Floyd. 'The Piper at the Gates of Dawn' is zany and bombastic, but this ninth album is the polar opposite. Brooding and considered. A triple filled pop-prog sandwich, made with Crazy Diamond bread. Flawless.
brilliant classic
Automatic 5 stars. One of my favorites of all time. Over the years, I’ve grown to appreciate Machine and Cigar. Shine On and WYWH have always been top tier for me.
Hard to follow Dark side but they did it with a second consecutive masterwork. You have the 12 part Syd tribute bookending the album with some of Wright and Gilmour’s best instrumental work, their most popular song as the title track and two tracks showing evidence that Waters was becoming cynical about the ‘biz’. I feel the mix is not as clear as Dark side but it doesn’t take a back step musically. The fact that Syd visited them during the Shine on recording and Roy Harper ended up Singing ‘Have a cigar’ just adds to the legend.
What do you do after making your magnum opus? Make another one! Possibly my favourite Floyd album and the one that has the biggest emotional impact. It’s heartbreaking in it’s beauty. Not a note is out of place here.
Too fuckin good
Bellissimo ! anche podo 10.000 ascolti
A five star classic. Just great all round album.
weinig over te zeggen buiten dat ze steengoed is... pink floyd is HET voorbeeld van "het geheel is groter dan de som der delen"
Love a bit of Floyd 🧔🏿♂️
Favourite Floyd album. WYWH takes me back to a happy time when several friends were still alive. Nothing else to say.
This is an absolutely perfect album. Definitely my favorite Pink Floyd album. This entire album is an experience that keeps building throughout. I am not sure you can listen to any song individually. I feel like you need to listen to the full experience. There is not a bad song here ajd the solos are great. Liked Songs: The entire album
leg album
Just such an epic album. Second pink Floyd album for me in a week on the list. Great times.
PEAK
👍👍
loved that
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5) - 5/5 Welcome to the Machine - 3/5 Have a Cigar - 5/5 Wish You Were Here - 5/5 Shine On You Crazy Diamond (6-9) - 5/5 Average score: 4.6/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ JoJo references aside, this was great
el klasiko
Egentligen tycker jag inte att det är en 5a som album. Låtarna är för spretiga. Men de är såna bangers att det inte går att sätta en 4a
4.65
Enjoying more than I thought, especially since ever song is approximately 7 hours long. Can see why people love pink Floyd! Kinda crazy that I've slept on pink Floyd for so long.
I get the hype now
Fantastic album. Maintains its fantastic sound decade after decade.
Few bands loom as large in the popular imgination as Pink Floyd. Who, apart from the Beatles and Bowie, has so many albums that have reached an almost mythical, unassailable level of reverence? All that to see that meeting albums like gif on it's own terms is something that must be done with prior intention, lest you get carried away with the towering context of it all. So, with ears as fresh as is possible, this album is fantastic. Nothing on here seems unconsodered, not a second is wasted. Indeed every moment for the duration is utilised to it's fullest capacity in service of the albums themes and motifs. Musically the album leans clinically precise without losing a vital smeer of humanity, notably in the vocals. The epic 12 minute bookends are impressive constructions, and the three songs in between more than hold their own. I want to give special attention to the title track. Despite half a century of over exposure it is still a shatteringly emotional experience listening to this song, especially if you are someone who has loved or lost a person suffering mental illness. Sandwiched between note perfect exercises in ice cold precision and howling ennui, it's compassion rushes over you like a balm. It's monolithic stature is deserved, this is a towering achievement.
wow, i love the iconic sounds of this album. Haunting en beautifull.
Awesome
Solid 5 for this classic
Desert island disk. Would give it 6 stars.
Это просто невероятное качество звука для тех времен, актуально даже сейчас. Никогда раньше не думал что буду когда-нибудь слушать песни по 10 минут еще и наслаждаться этим. Пинк флойд невероятны
Listens: 3 (+Many) Standout Tracks: All of them I own this album on Vinyl. It's great listening on full blast surround sound. It's spacy. It's down to earth. It's got a sweet album cover. It's highly consumable. The songs take on different meanings and perspectives depending on your age, and change accordingly. If I played the guitar, I suspect I would have learned to strum out Wish You Were Here. It's just an overall great album. As good as Dark Side of the Moon (weirdly, I have little practical experience with The Wall). For obvious reasons, this gets high marks.
This album has always carried a lot of emotional weight. As a child of '76, I heard this throughout the years, but in my teenage years, Pink Floyd took center stage. My friendships revolved around music (concerts, clubs, albums), the closest of which shared this album in particular. Hopes, dreams, and inconvenient truths, this one said it all.
Of course this gets 5 stars
I have listened to this album many times and it’s a masterpiece. Shine on you crazy diamond is an absolute trip, Wish you were here is a beautiful song, Have a cigar & Welcome to the machine are amazing! The album is short but it’s an essential Pink Floyd album. What an amazing tribute to Syd Barret, always gonna be on my radar to listen too!
One of the best doing what they do best! Wish You Where Here is one of my favourite songs.
One of my favorite albums. 5 stars
All 5 songs absolutely ridiculously good
great album 4.5/5 on by to buy list
This is a 10/10. Maybe my favorite Pink Floyd? I'd want "shine on you crazy diamond" played at my funeral. feel like Floyd was really operating on another level during this time period. Making timeless classics, experimenting, exploring different sounds.
Overall, as someone who likes prog rock but has never really delved into Pink Floyd, I loved this album with every song being good. I can certainly see myself listening to a song on this album and then think to myself to put on the entire album
One of my all time favorites. Really listening to it this time ... the lyrics of the title song in particular are just unreal -- "can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail"; devastating.
I think I already listened through this when I got the Wall earlier. I'm pretty sure this is better. Idk if I think it's better than dark side of the moon, but I feel like I can understand the argument.
Yeah honestly i don't know what to say because I don't think anything has to be said. Can't think of anything bad to say
I mean it's an absolute classic. Bands like Pink Floyd don't come along often.
I'm never going to love Welcome to the Machine or Have a Cigar as much as Set The Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Money, One of My Turns, or Hey You. But I love Wish You Were Here more than any other Floyd song. That leaves the other half of the runtime - I love Shine On You Crazy Diamond. I find it less profound a statement of grief than Wish You Were Here, but it's so gorgeous, and the funky movement owns.
SIMPLY THE BEST.
Contains several of my favorite moments in all of music. Have a Cigar is neat but the clear thing not measuring up to the rest if the material. There's an argument this is the best album cover
perfect length for an album, basically the only song that isnt 100% a banger to me is 'welcome to the machine', just a perfect gorgeous album
I used to shit on pink floyd. Not after today. I had very high expectations -- not only were they met, they were exceeded. Wow.
I've not listened to this in a long time, I thought I was about to settle in for 2hrs plus of noodling. Not so, 5 songs, 45min... This is going to be good. I really slept on Pink Floyd as a teen, when I should have been lost in this most weekends. Great album, lovely production, instrumentation, song writing, ambition and execution. The best album on the list so far by quite a ways.
Timeless.
Having now listened to 700 albums from this list, it's just so easy to give this a 5. Everything about it - the production, the music itself, everything - just sounds so good. The fact it holds up 50+ years later is astounding. 5/5
Wish You Were Here is the most familiar song and album when it comes to Pink Floyd for me, it was my dads absolute favorite song of all time. From my childhood hearing it blaring from our basement sound system, to learning it on guitar in my twenties, to hearing it play at my dads funeral. It made me realize I hadnt listened to it since. Its terribly difficult to remove nostalgia from this review, but luckily enough Pink Floyd presents a stellar album here. Great lyrics, sound production, masterful songwriting. Not much else to say, really.
Yea it’s a 5 out of 5. Amazing album! Wish You Were Here is an all timer. The music industry sucks. Did you know that?
Mer listefyll, men tross alt veldig bra album.
This is one of those albums I’ve heard so many times, I’ve lost count. I was definitely raised on Wish You Were Here. One thing I didn’t realize until later on, though, is that “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” was actually a tribute to Syd Barrett.
"Wish You Were Here" is that rare occurrence; an album tasked with following a cultural behemoth like "The Dark Side of the Moon", yet one that manages to equal its predecessor without ever mimicking it. While many debate which is superior, for me, the distinction lies in the atmosphere of each. To me, "Wish You Were Here" feels inherently more human and soulful; it possesses a warmth and vulnerability that its predecessor doesn't quite have in comparison. It captures Pink Floyd at the absolute zenith of their powers, masterfully balancing technical experimentation with profound emotion as they grapple with the pressures of fame, the cynicism of the music industry, and the haunting ghosts of their past. My own journey with the record began in late 1978, hearing "Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I–V)" on the BBC’s Friday Rock Show. I was immediately captivated. It was a revelation to my younger self that rock music didn't need to be loud or fast; it could be expansive, patient, and atmospheric. Without realising it at the time, this was my formal introduction to the world of Progressive Rock. The album is a breath-taking achievement, rich with drama and pathos. Across five varied and captivating tracks, there is not a single misstep or wasted note. From the industrial dread of the synthesizers to the iconic, longing guitar riffs and motifs, the production and arrangements remain peerless. Sonically, it was years ahead of its time and as an album it remains timeless. Five stars. Side one 1 "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (Parts I–V)" (5/5) 2 "Welcome to the Machine" (5/5) Side two 1 "Have a Cigar" (5/5) 2 "Wish You Were Here" (5/5) 3 "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" (Parts VI–IX) (5/5) Total - 25 Average - 5 227/1001 126/227 albums reviewed were new to me
so so good also really nostalgic as it is one of my dads favourites.
Quality not quantity defined
Track 1- 7/10 Track 2- 8/10 Track 3- 8/10 Track 4- 10/10 Track 5- 9/10
4.5/5
Pure perfection.
One of my favorite albums
5/5 literally goated
A really well put together album. The instrumentals are fire, absolutely loved the deep lyrics and the whole story behind it. The only minor thing I didn't like is that in some songs there is a few minutes of just the instrumental and it can get repetitive, other than that almost a perfect album. Favourite song: Have a Cigar
Amazing album
Transcendent: 2nd 5 star album in a row from the random 1001 Album generator. Must be listened to on vinyl, with good headphones, or in your dad car. I wanna be stoned in a basement in 1975 to this.
welcome to the machine wow
This is a 5 star record. Sometimes the sound can be a little spacey for me. Maybe would be 9/10 but still some absolute classic songs and a compact album which i really appreciate.
If the title track doesn't make you cry, you should have yourself checked.
‘Wish You Were Here’ and ‘Shine on…’ carry this album imo. ‘Have A Cigar’ and ‘WTTM’ just don’t do it for me. So this isn’t my favourite Pink Floyd album, however, purely on ‘Wish You Were Here’ alone, this gets a 5. It’s just the way it is.
Masterpiece that will live on.
I love ‘Shine on You Crazy Diamond’ so much, my only complaint is that those songs are too short. Such a classic album!!
This album gives me goosebumps. I've heard in many times and I will listen to it many more. I wouldn't change anything about it. I don't believe in perfection but this one is close to it.
Amazing album. It’s between this one and Animals for my favourite Pink Floyd album. Shine On You Crazy Diamond, all parts/both songs, is of course an awesome track. Although very long, it keeps me engaged by introducing various riffs and repeating them throughout. The other songs are great as well, especially the title track.
Wonderful prog rock album that still sounds good today mostly due to David Gilmour’s guitar playing. I could listen to him all day!
das konzept eines 15 minütigen lieds ist craaazyyy, trotzdem FIREEE
Loved it! Amazing concept!
absolute class. one of my all time favourite albums. teleporting, mesmerising, exquisite
One of my favorite Pink Floyd albums. Shine On are bright spots to the album but the whole album is excellent. The 50 anniversary has some nice extras.
Perfection
Ageless
Just as good in its own way as Dark Side of the Moon. Plus, it's David Gilmour's favorite record Pink Floyd made...that really says it all.
Ohne worte
A+++. Probably most underrated Pink Floyd Album, besides Meddle. Sounds modern. Doesn't sound dated at all.
Pink Floyd is epic. Space rock is so sick, and this was so good. Even though it's only a few songs, they all hit, and I am blown away.
Practically perfect. Emotional, and mechanical.
One of the best follow up albums ever made. This was follow up to Dark Side of the Moon. It is very good.
A very easy 5 stars for me. Not only am I a huge fan of Pink Floyd, but this album contains one of my absolute favourite songs of all time "Shine On You Crazy Diamond Pts 1-5" - the song is completely flawless and the progression is perfect. I could listen to it all day and wish the song lasted forever - the band is at their peak with Gilmour shining with his guitar work. His phrasing, sense of melody and knowing when not to play are what makes him so fantastic. "Welcome to the Machine" is a haunting, trippy ride and I'm here for it. There's such a sense of dread that you're not in control and never have been - everything has been decided for you in one or way another - is very eerie. No band can write stuff quite like this. "Have A Cigar" is a great commentary on the music industry and is so damn groovy and funky, and has one of Gilmour's most underrated solos at the end. "Wish You Were Here" is the 'hit' off this album that even non Floyd fans will know. Though arguably overplayed it still lands whenever I hear it - and is just a really nice song with a beautiful message. The closing "Shine On" parts perfectly wrap up with callbacks to the opening track - it really doesn't get better.
Not quite my favorite Pink Floyd album but man, is it great.
son pocas canciones pero bien largas, la intro de la primera no me gustó pero ya cuando cantan chimba, que hpta álbum, excepto por la intro de la primera esta de buena que muy chimba, está todo experimental todo extraño pero de forma chimba, durísimo
Good album
Pink Floyd MAY at times be called a rock band, a classic rock band, ... but I don't think so. Sure, some of their albums and songs are heavy enough to be rock, but I would argue that they are much more than that. This IS opera, maybe rock opera, sort of. but more jazzy, more subtle ... and hella deeper if taken as a whole. Funny how I am one of those people that often is critical of listening straight through or too long to one album or one band and here I am saying you MUST do it this way to understand the journey Pink Floyd is taking you on. This is ultimately sublime and meaningful beyond what people who have not heard Pink Floyd might be led to believe. This. Just listen!
One of my favorites albums ever. Love this so much.
10/10 no notes
It’s Pink Floyd. You know what you’re getting. This was too early in their career to not be good. Choice cut: Wish You Were Here
It just an amazing album that is required listening in the history of rock and pop music.
now i'm not just saying this because ana has me at gun point, but i enjoyed this a lot! i really love the guitar tones over the course of this album. they all sound fantastic, especially with those delicious synths in there too. it's the kind of album that makes me want to lay in bed with headphones on to appreciate every bit of the instrumentation so i appreciate how clear the mix is. i'm late to the game on an album like this so me saying "yeah this sure does evoke a strong mood" is another drop of water in the ocean, but hey so it goes.
Okay so I've listened to this album so many times in my life I have genuinely lost count, it is probably in my top 10 favorite albums ever. Shine on You Crazy Diamond is an incredible, mostly instrumental ode to a former band member. The titular song helped keep me sane in my first couple of years of University when I felt very isolated and alone. This entire album just sounds so spectacular. I feel like I can't say anything about this album that hasn't been said hundreds of times before, the highest of 5 stars.
I love it
Masterpiece, no more to add
Amazing rock album first time sitting through it and my favourite was definitely have a cigar and wish you were here i had already heard shine on you crazy diamond so i don't rate em in my first time review
One of the greatest albums by one of the greatest bands.
Gooooood
Favourite Song: Wish You Were Here
Shine on you crazy diamond and Wish you were here are both commonly known to be written for Sid Barrett. Post his drug induced psychotic break. So I suppose this is his epitaph, in a way. Full of squashy synth, R&B guitar and experimental sound effects. I especially liked the dystopian story that was played out in Welcome to the machine and the feeling that someone was playing along to the radio in Wish you were here. I liked this a lot. (4.755)
Better than I remembered. Peak
Picking up where The Dark Side of the Moon ended… superb
Right now this is probably my favourite Pink Floyd album. The masterpiece that is Shine On You Crazy Diamond of course takes the prize for the best song. All 9 parts are magnificent, and the fact that they're divided into two tracks —first and last in the album— really gives the album a full circle feeling. What I love most about Shine On You Crazy Diamond is probably that one four note phrase in Part II diamond is so simple, but at the same time so magical. I love the sax solo at the end of the first half. The glass harp at the beginning is fully engraved in my mind with the many times I've listened to it. But most of all, it's David Gilmour's guitar work throughout the whole Shine On You Crazy Diamond that makes it so great. He's truly a master of his craft; definetly one of the best guitar players I've ever heard. It's also interesting to just listen Shine On You Crazy Diamond from beginning to end, all 9 parts without the other songs in between, as a way to appreciate the piece in full. The title track is obviously a classic, but I like Welcome To The Machine even more. Again, I love Gilmour's guitars in this, but the synth solos in this song are exceptional and so powerful. Roger Waters did a phenomenal job in the writing and composition in this album, but for me it's Gilmour's guitars that really make this whole album a masterpiece. The fact that my least favourite track in Wish You Were Here is Have A Cigar, which is still great, says a lot about not only the overall quality of the album, but throughout every second of it.
Sad existential bromance album without a single song under 5 minutes
A vibrational experience, howling out for a lost compatriot
One of my all time davorotes
Mellow and good. Probably unfathomably groundbreaking compared to everything else back then
ich liiiiieb das album. ziit lang gfunde s sseg besser als dark side. shine on you crazy diamond fangt sooooo guet aah. d synths de akkord wo afoch liit und denn gilmour soooloo. aso perfekti melodie über de komisch moll-blues wos do zemekocht hend. insaane cool. uuh denn de chord. fuck yeh. sooo guets solo. i chas immerno. aso mitsinge. de gsunge teil scho au seeeehr geil. welcome to the machine isch de ersti the wall song irgendwie. aso finden suuuper.

I wish I could give this album 6 stars. Love it
Classic. Incomparable. A must.
I mean, this album might not be for everyone, although for a lot of people it its great. You can say all you want. But this album has the ability to be enjoyed in special ways that give it a whole new dimention. I have memories with this album long before we started this. Im nog too big into this gerne of music, but im big into Pink Floyd. Love their stuff and love this album.
Some of the fastest 45 minutes to pass. Dreamy, but somehow also energetic. The guitar cries like it is in beautiful anguish. If I had to pick a gripe, I dont appreciate the parts that are noise/not music, but hey it kinda fits the vibe 5/5
Look, I am a white man who listens to prog rock/metal. I pray daily to the Holy Trinity: the father (Steven Wilson), the son (Mikael Åckerfeldt), and the holy spirit (Maynard James Keenan). I cannot pretend I won't give this amazing album a 10/10. I am also the target audience as I am spiritually a stoner from the 70s.
This website is now just spitting out random album notes from previous when it comes to rating time. It replaced my album notes for this album with Pronce ones done ages ago! Frustrating. Anyways. Love this album. First track is heartbreaking. Dave Gilmour’s guitar is so emotional and beautiful. Its his favorite Floyd album and i think i agree with him.
Very psychedelic. Perfect mix of psychedelia and prog-rock. Have a Cigar is one of their heaviest tracks. Really great album! Welcome to the Machine sounds like Wish You Were Here and Have a Cigar combined. Wish You Were Here is very chill and acoustic. Good for a funeral.
I have not listened to this album or Pink Floyd in a long time. Remember getting into this in college, so years ago. The album dedicated to Syd Barrett is a great one, interesting songs and musicality abound in the album. 5.
50 years later, this holds up very well. It's impossible to believe that for teenagers today, listening to this is the equivalent of us as teens listening to something recorded in the 40s. THE FORTIES. Jesus Christ.
An amazing album - my favorite from this band. "Shine On" with all its parts that bookend the album, with my most beloved song ("Wish You Were Here") landing perfectly in the track list...it's just a great listen.
Heard it before. Oh man, I have an interesting relationship with Pink Floyd because I used to really dislike them when I was younger. Then something clicked one day and Wish You Were Here definitely was one of those albums that converted me. It's just perfect length and every single song here is gooooood. Perfect in every way 5/5
Es git en grund wieso de papi da sals platte het. Incroyable. Magnifique.
More Pink Floyd. Why? Always theatrical. Always creative. Listened before? N Saved tracks? N ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Liked it a lot
One of my favorite albums. 10/10 front to back.
Hall of famer right here
Um álbum completo, equilibra as evocações emotivas com uma técnica refinada de composição e arranjos. Maravilhoso!
Flawless from start to finish
Guitar and surrounding instruments definitely stands out in this album. The work it self is very hypnotic and feels ahead of its time for an album produced in 1975. This album is the perfect depiction of Pink Floyd as a band.
Fantastic album where the space between the notes is important as the notes themselves.
Halfway through the first song and I already know this will be my first 5 star rating. The vocals aren’t as gripping as the instrumentals - wait no vocals do the heavy lifting in Have a Cigar. Ironically, Wish You Were Here is my least favorite track
All time classic, I've loved this since I was 16. A real gateway record I think away from the 3 minute pop song into more experimental interesting stuff. 50 years ago is mental
Incredible. No stand-outs, they’re all great.
It has been many long years since I’ve played this sucker. I still felt familiar. Have a Cigar and some parts of Shine On would fit seamlessly onto Maggot Brain. Roger Waters little rants against UK’s social infrastructure are sadly, still relevant. For me, this is the best Pink Floyd ever got.
Why was this 10 hours long
oh my, this is one of my favorite albums ever. I own it on vinyl. So so good
My favorite album thus far on this journey
Perfect album
An unbelievably fantastic follow-up to one of the best albums of all time. This displays Pink Floyd at their peak of creative flair and instrumental powers. Gilmour quite heavily outshines his bandmates on this record, from the unforgettable riff on 'Shine On', to the acoustic behemoth of the title track. We even see Floyd at their strongest lyrically, lambasting the music industry and a deep yearn for connection with their former bandmates. Best Tracks: - Shine On You Crazy Diamond - Wish You Were Here - Welcome To The Machine Worst Tracks: N/A Rating: 10/10

Een van mijn favoriete albums ooit. Inspirerend, hartbrekend ronduit geweldig. Een geweldig psychedelisch rock album.. Favoriete nummer: wish you were here/ shine on you... pt 1-5 Minst favoriet: geen
Me too.
Another classic. I had this one on vinyl too, until the fire. Fuck you, fire.
For me, Music should make us feel. Some feelings are unintentional- like that weird shit on the list that just makes you feel angry - but good music endeavors to make us feel intentionally a certain way. The gold standard for that type of music is Pink Floyd, who effortlessly evoke emotion through sound.
Fucking awesome
Fantastic! Top to bottom. Complete listen. My rating 4.8
An absolute monster album. Love this so.much
Good progressive album wish you were here best stand alone song
Before I started listening it I was wondering "Is it really that good?" Then I got goosebumps when vocals started on the opening track.
Amazing album. I love smoking a fat doobie to this and chugging some good ol’ miller lite
Just listened to this and now gladly doing it again on the 50th anniversary remix. One of the first albums I truly loved when getting into music in junior high. Only low point to me is Welcome to the Machine which is a bit too drudgy. But easy five stars for this prog rock masterpiece.
Not even their best album and it's an easy 5. Shine on you crazy diamond is just so good. The whole album is amazing.
Is this the greatest Pink Floyd Album ever?!?
Overall rating: 9.5 Favourite tracks: Wish You Were Here (classic), Have A Cigar
Love this album, Shine on You Crazy Diamond may be a top Pink Floyd song for me and then just every song after is a classic.
It's really difficult to try and listen to this album objectively, having listened to it almost daily in high school and countless times since then. Still, I picked up a few new nuggets like the cough and light breathing in the beginning of the title track. This whole album just transports you to another world and shine on feels like the vehicle that takes you there. A great example of when gimmicky production tricks pay off and create a true soundscape. Love this album, king of kings.
I'll start by saying that "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is my favorite Pink Floyd song (or parts 1 -5 are?), and probably one of my favorite guitar songs ever - such an incredible journey to open an album with. Also David Gilmour's tone, economy, and touch make me want to cry, especially given the topic of the song. (And it even has a bari sax solo!) Whenever I listen to this album however, I always feel a little disappointed by "Welcome to the Machine", like there's a drop-off and its kind of just a slog. But they pick it back up with "Have a Cigar" and the title track is obviously a classic...I am so torn between a 4 and 5, because it's an awesome album and includes my favorite Pink Floyd song, but only has 5 songs and one of them I don't care for. I'll go 5 because we're on a heater of classic albums lately.
I mean.
I tried to come up with a reason not to give this to a 5 and failed horribly.
Another flawless album.
My third favourite Pink Floyd album and still unutterably brilliant. Honestly you have to be a total psychopath not to absolutely adore this album.
a timeless masterpiece
Was already in love with the song wish you were here so was cool to hear the rest of its album. Classic pink Floyd, long builds and random sounds that work. Have a cigar reminded me of Ronnie from work? None the less this is a 5/5.
"Welcome To The Machine" is very good, but something had to fall off to stick to my top 3 songs per album rule. This is meant to be enjoyed as an album, the 3 songs in the middle lose their luster if consumed as singles. An amazing experience, probably the "highest" 5 star rating so far (though I'm still at the beginning of my journey). Fav Tracks: Shine On You Crazy Diamond (all parts, 1-10) > Wish You Were Here > Have A Cigar Current Fav Album: Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd (#11/1089)
What can i even say about pink floyd?
not long enough Can I give more stars?
Somehow i've never sat down and listened to this properly, even though it's iconic.
PERFECT Best Song: WYWH Love the album, very thematic although I needed to read about the context to appreciate it, which is fine. Love Have a Cigar and WYWH, balances Shine on... and makes the album more accessible. PERFECT
10/10 Amazing follow up to Dark Side, I loved the classic Floyd blend of psychedelic and progressive rock but also the bluesy feel. Sandwiching a few shorter songs between two (one technically??) epics felt like a great example of not sacrificing quality for quantity. I like that you can sit down for an hour and experience the album as a whole without distraction and how this allows you to feel the mood shift from dark to light. Vocals on wish you were here are amazing and you can really feel the deeply personal emotion while listening. Best song: Wish you were here Worst: None?? This is where PF peaked in my opinion everything, pace, structure, tone was beautifully crafted. This is the perfect album.
Instant 5/5
Amazing every song is amazing
It's been a while since I listened to all of Wish You Were Here and I remembered it being a solid 4/5. But relistening to it, it's actually even better than I remembered. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is way better than I remembered, Welcome to the Machine is fantastic, Have a Cigar is one of my all-time favourite Floyd songs and Wish You Were Here is absolutely beautiful. Zero filler even though Shine On You Crazy Diamond runs for 26 minutes in total, and I'm generally not a fan of extremely long tracks. I think I'd be lying to myself I gave this anything less than 5/5 when everything about it is so great. Even the cover art is iconic.
One of the best albums I've heard.
First Pink Floyd album! yesssssssssss. Not much left to say about this album that hasn’t already been said. Life changing piece of work both for those that made it and those that get to listen to it. SYD is just beautiful from top to bottom. The intro to this album is so etherial. Backstory, production, mastering, weight - all there. I still remember being slightly baked driving around my hometown as a lost 17 year old preparing for the unknown that comes after graduation of High School, I know you do too. Shine on, you crazy diamond. 10/10
Probably my favorite Floyd album and one I ritually came up to while tripping my freshman year of college. One of the most impeccably produced albums of all time with an insane story behind it (Syd visiting the studio while recording is an all timer).
I really love this album. Even after high school, even after pot, I just like to put this one on.
