okii 7/10
An easy listen and a good album.
Didn’t think I need another classic rock album to listen to. Obviously this is good with well known songs. And, it is Zeppelin. I found myself really listening to John Paul Jones on this album. He really stood out. Solid three but won’t be a regular listen for me.
A bit white old man music
Heard before: yes I assume we will get to 7 or 8 Zep records before we're done. This record is one that builds a template for decades of other bands: super influential, everyone loves it, everyone wants to be them. But other than a few specific moments, Zep II leans on their instincts that I'm least drawn to: the heaviness for heaviness sake, the recycled, blue-eyed blues, the arena cock rock of it all. There's a lot more to the band, like when they work in references to Mordor in a strummy little folk ditty. So even though I'm nodding my head through the whole thing, I think I'd rather they be the stoner in the corner than the upperclassman with shades on. Top tracks: Ramble On, What Is and What Should Never Be, Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)
I normally hate sequels but I'll give this one a go, why not? I still know this album front to back and I haven't spun it in YEARS!! this is a record that is a part of me and I don't know how and I don't know why but every song is so familiar to me it just is! Probably not my go to album by them but it hits all the notes!
# 57 : Good Record, not their best but a great classic album. Whole Lotta Love
Sympathetic album that I listened to while working. Not really my usual jam and I probably won't listen to it ever again but it was nice on the moment. However it then lead me to some really nice songs that I will definitely add to my playlist.
Solid Zeppelin album, neither the best nor the worst. I don't know if I'll ever get sick of Ramble On. Moby Dick is, despite all I keep hearing and many attempts to be into it, still just ok. Yeah; overall, s'good.
Suffers from being over-played when I was a teenager, too much radio play, and an over-hyped reputation so it's impossible to approach with any freshness. This is my least favorite of the first 4 Led Zeppelin albums and the big hits songs (Living Loving Maid, Whole Lotta Love) here are the most over-familiar and least interesting. Heartbreaker still goes though - even if the riffs are all too familiar, the heavily distorted fuzzed out guitar on here still sounds amazing and Page's blistering pentatonic solos still scratch that teenage itch. Ramble On is my favorite track, pointing at the direction they'd go for III and Houses of the Holy (Thank You as well). Driven by an acoustic guitar riff, layered with distorted electric leads, delay and reverse effects, organ adornment, and propelled by the kinetic bassline. The Lemon Song especially is a bass masterclass. Jimmy Page and John Bonham get the plaudits, but John Paul Jones's hyperactive bass playing is really fantastic throughout: ranging, melodic, pulsating under the riffs and holding it together while the guitar and drums are going off.
they’re like pagan gods come to earth but worshipping such gods has never ended well
As the lady swooned under the spell of the bard's guitar, she tried to keep her wits about her as she indulged in her guessing game: how many inches, after all, was the incubus her minstrel had summoned? And was it, indeed, after all, "love"?
Every single one of these songs is pretty well-known and played on the radio. This is straightforward rock that Zeppelin does well. Listening to this in 2023, it doesn’t sound “interesting” but it’s good rock n’ roll.
Hyvä musiikkivuosi 1969! Tuntuu, että tältä musiikin pitää kuulostaa: vähän bluesihtavaa, vähän jumittavaa. Harmillisesti tää levy menee paikoin liikaa jammailun oloiseksi.
Aika perus zeppeliini meisinki. Noin puolet oli tuttuja kappaleita
Idk, it’s got some good stuff on it but I just prefer their songs about hobbits
Dang these guys are all horned up. definitely some classics on here but there wasn't a lot that I would listen to again
It was ok but unpopular opinion prob since Led Zeppelin is so popular but I think this album is only like a 3
good
I don't know why I never connected with Zeppelin. They're cool, I guess, but I never became a fan. I do like some of their songs. On this listen, "Thank You" sounded glorious. Just perfect production from beginning to end. But I also get (perhaps unnecessarily) annoyed by how much Zep stole from other artists. Plus, Howlin' Wolf's Killing Floor is just better than The Lemon Song. And even though it's well known that Plant lifted the lyrics from Whole Lotta Love from Willie Dixon's "You Need Loving," listen to The Small Faces cover of "You Need Loving" to see how much of the vocal delivery Plant stole from Steve Marriott. (Especially noticeable in the begging and at the end: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tp0jZ4BGuDw) I mean, yeah, Jimmy wrote an all-time killer riff, but come on Robert. OTOH, JPJ and Bonham are such monster players, I spent this listen just paying attention to them. Page is an excellent rhythm player and songwriter, but his solos ... meh. Ramble On is still great, though that verse about Gollum and Mordor is weird.
Not quite as good as their other work in my opinion
3.5 stars, not my favorite of theirs but solid.
So much Led Zeppelin. Not the biggest fan, but it wasn’t the worst.
led zep is the epitome of solid idea and near perfect execution. while this album isn’t amazing, it executes its ideas amazingly. Performances are great and in particular the bass tone is wonderful. best tracks: whole lotta love, what is and what should never be, living loving maid
Classique, mais un peu bruyant pour moi.
2nd listen. I think this is one of the more forgettable Led Zeppelin albums.
3/5. Not a perfect zeppelin album. Lemon song to living loving maid is not super fun. Everything else is a banger though. Thought I would like it more but it feels like it’s missing something.
i don't think it's my music taste but i do respect the effort put in this album and i like some of the songs in it :)
Some classic tracks, for sure, but a bit of an uneven album.
A straightforward outing from rock’s most consistently stellar group. Doesn’t wow as much on the compositional side as its follow-ups, but still pulls out some fun studio tricks and exceptional instrumentation as always to deliver a great listen.
This album is pretty hit n miss
pretty good
I liked it. However, i get bored of the none stop noise sometimes
It’s Led Zeppelin being Led Zeppelin. They’re alright.
One of their more bombastic collections - and maybe I'm getting old, but I do like a little light and shade these days. A whole lotta plagiarism going on (allegedly). I used to love 'Moby Dick', now it bores me. Still, this is pretty good for some crotch-grabbin' rawk action.
Not my favorite work by the band. It's cool, but it doesn't remotely reach the heights of IV or even their debut.
Just sitä mitä bändiltä voi odottaa: räminää, ryminää, rockia! Hyviä biisejä, mutta kokonaisuus taitaa hintsusti jäädä kolmosen puolelle.
Good trippy rock songs. Way too long for me.
"Ramble On" is a great song. Other than that though there wasn't a lot here that I liked. Never really was big into Led Zeppelin (which made college difficult) so maybe that explains it. Still, nothing bad here, just a bit overrated in my opinion. 3.5 stars
I struggle to get Led Zeppelin the same way that some people do - particularly when listening to a whole album. Their songs are always just a little bit too long, and often a bit too waily - don't particularly like Robert Plant as a vocalist and it's just a bit too tortured (and creepy in places). That said, Whole Lotta Love is a great song, but the album is no more than a 3/5 for me.
Pretty standard blues/rock album. 3/5 Fave tracks:Whole lotta love,Heartbreaker, Ramble on, bring it on home
Mostly classic tracks I love and other jam tracks I could do without. I found it interesting that there were only 9 tracks. 6/10.
Probably a bit harshly only giving it a 3 but I didn't really vibe with it yesterday.
Very good, doesn't quite hit the spot for me though
Inte min stil men gillade albumet ändå
I remember thinking this was a good album. Oh boy, was I wrong! After an album of uncredited covers, they tried to make original stuff and it's not that good. Good thing they got better for the 3rd one (maybe because they went back to stealing other artist's music again, who knows?)
CTRL-C CTRL-V
This one wouldn't have been in my choices for 3 or 4 Zeppelin albums to figure in the 1001, but I can understand that a few of the songs were groundbreakers, like Whole Lotta Love (even if it's plagiarism from The Small Faces interpretation of a Muddy Waters song) with the vocal effects, Ramble On which is very good and catchy or Moby Dick, which shows the incredible talent of John Bonham accompanied by a monster riff. However, if these 3 songs wouldn't exist, this album would be pretty boring and average. In terms of album, this band did really better than this one.
Some good songs, but didn’t like all of them.
Whole lotta love is great! This was a solid album
I love Led Zeppelin, but in my opinion this is one of their weakest albums. I can't put my finger on exactly why it feels like that, it's just that the songs lack the riffs and excitement of I,III,IV and physical graffiti. In particular, whole lotta love pales in comparison to the title track of any of those other albums
I'm finding that I'm running hot and cold with the Led Zeppelin. This is the fourth album I've listened to in this project (that's like halfway through their œuvre!) and it is definitely lower on my list than I or IV. This one often sounds like why I avoided Led Zeppelin as a youth.
Whole lotta love: banger What is and should never be: lesser banger The lemon song: I never thought I'd hear a dick referred to as a lemon before. Thank you: I just finished it and I don't remember anything. Heartbreaker: the guitar solo was cool Living loving maid: ok Ramble on:I liked this one Moby dick: this rules Bring it on home:ok This whole album sounds like one big song and I don't like it.
Experimental instrumentals and vocals work well together.
Love Ramble On, but I think I've cooled on Led Zeppelin's overall style since I listened to them so much on Q104.3 when I was in high school.
It's ok
Good easy rock album
A perfect rock opener leads into a mixed bag of decent blues rock and overblown self indulgence.
3 1/2
This is the third Led Zeppelin I’ve listened to for the purposes of broadening my horizons and listening to the best of classic rock. Three albums in and I still feel the same: they’re good, but I prefer them as background music.
For 1969, this was pretty progressive stuff, right at the cross-roads of blues-rock and riff-up-front, heavy metal. Jimmy's playing is great and varied throughout. The signature track would have worked better without the 90 second "solo" IMO. Deduct a point for the plagiarism.
I've never been a Led Zep fan so if it wasn't for 1,001 I would never seek this out for a listen. Overall, I thought it was good, if you like bluesy heavy rock and can get over Robert Plant's screechy voice. But I must say that it's an iconic rock moment when the drums and guitar kick in at the 3:00 mark of Whole lotta love. I've never heard Thank You before and I thought it was quite good also.
A very musical heavy metal album.
Some killer songs on this album and I want to take a road trip just to blast it in my car. I think my liking of it overall will improve with repeated listening
Plenty of bangers on here but, blasphemously, this is one of the Led Zeppelin albums that could’ve been cut. Shoutout John Paul Jones
No the best Zep, but hey.
3.5
Led Zeppelin was seminal. On the cuts from this album, many are still landmark today
Led Zeppelin have acquired legendary status but, at times, its not hugely interesting
Favorites: What Is and What Should Never Be Ramble On
First song - banger though even that goes on a bit at times. Rest, good but honestly goes on a bit too long.
Oh yea buddy. What Is and What Should Never Be is a great example of the range that Zepplin found in being able to explore this heavy sonic space. There is a lot of blues in this, which is not my favorite; see The Lemon Song. Ramble On is a perfect song. Moby Dick is a shit song. This album is just so blues heavy that I cant say i loved it. Good album I can appreciate the sonic space they were staking, but its not for me.
I've always found them vastly overrated. But Whole Lotta Love kinda slaps still.
Two songs I liked, but overall too many random noises. Can appreciate the classic rock vibe.
There are some terrific riffs and some toe tapping head banging tracks on Zep II but there are also moments which feel a little self satisfied - the extended riffs, the drum solo, the roll-your-eyes-in-embarrassment euphemisms concerning lemons, the LOTR references. From time to time you start to wonder which blues singer they stole the music from. Undoubtedly influential and heavy metal inspiring, just not worthy of the adulation. There are better Zep albums.
We got all 4 of them now
How many times can you sing 'baby' on an album? Answer within!
Classic rock, Whole Lotta Love opens with its infectious riff. Good stuff
No doubt many Brits will be familiar with the iconic rift of the strong opening track 'Whole Lotta Love' thanks to the tv program 'Top of the Pops'. You can really hear the blues influence on some of the tracks however I don't feel as though the following songs are as good as the opener. Although I quite liked Ramble On and the drums of Moby Dick.
Went on too long and transitions between slow a fast parts could be better
The Village Voice jokingly referred to the band as "the best of the wah-wah mannerist groups, so dirty they drool on demand", while complaining that "all the songs sound alike.”
All the songs sound the same and apparently they ripped off a lot people.
Classic Zep
Ok
Some solid songs but overall not my favorite of theirs.
Classic rock. Does exactly what it says on the tin.
Whole Lotta Love Ramble On Moby Dick
I thought it was very good despite it being a little dated. The instrumentals are always good for Led Zeppelin and the vocals are also pretty standard as well.
I liked it.
Pretty good album, not as intense as I thought it would be, classic rock, 7/10
There were some great tracks on this album and the legendary riffs get stuck in my head, but some songs were indiscernible from others. I enjoyed the album but only a few songs really stood out for me.
Personally, I prefer LZ4, as I find the sound more varied. That said, who am I to fault Led Zeppelin
boring.....
Starts off real solid, then fades as it plays on. Kept resisting the skip button.
3.5 if I could
Zeer Led Zeppelin.
Another typical "not bad, not great" album :P
Meh
Excellent classic rock
A classic album fairly ground breaking at the time
Some good rock anthems though suffers a bit from some indulgences eg: overly long drum solo (snore).
Psicodélico. Típico Led Zeppelin. Algunas cosas chulas.
actually more psychedelic and bluesey than i would have thought
This album went by so smoothly, I didn’t even recognize when it was done. It was pleasant enough to listen to that I didn’t find myself wanting to turn it off, but nothing really caught my attention, either.
Well it's time to write about Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin. It's another band and album that has been written about so many times - there is nothing much I can say. I was never a big Zeppelin fan to be honest, and I've mainly heard their music from secondhand listening. I gave this album a fresh listen and it's everything that people say it is. Will I listen to this again anytime soon? No. It's too ingrained in our lives to really appreciate it beyond it's mythology.
Pretty sure half these lyrics are about sex and the singers penis. Cool dude. Instrumentally it's good and I see the cultural "value" bit personally doesn't fit into anything I'd listen to on my own time. I wouldn't ask someone to turn it off.
hard to believe I hadn't listened to this album before. not at all what I expected and I liked it more than I thought I would
Good but not amazing
Thank you - great track
Yksittäiset biisit oli tuttuja. Toimi myös levynä.
A few bops
Weird and not what I expected. Mostly enjoyable though. Not much to latch onto? Maybe will have to re-listen
idon't like rock i only like rock if its not that hard
all sounds the same, not my style
When you feel relief when an album is over, that's a sign it's not for you.
2.5
In general, I think the whole Zeppelin catalog could be one album. Or maybe an email.
Eh
Im just not a zeppelin girl
Very far outside my taste. Peculiar vocals but some interesting rhythm parts.
Yani güzel bi albüm. Ama benlik değil açıkçası
se parecen a dorian gray
I think I liked this more than the other two? Not sure
Led Zeppelin, but bland.
This is fine just not my thing. No real difference from the first album in my opinion
I can’t stand this album now that I’m a fully functioning adult
I can tolerate led zep but not this era
First impression: The albums is not quite bad, but my music interests don't match with the vibes of this specific album from Zed Zeppelin. It will remain on a 2/10 for me
Couple of classics but the usual Led Zeppelin self indulgence.
Oh man, I still can’t stand his voice, and I can’t ever see that changing now. Even musically, blues rock doesn’t do it for me.
Not to crazy for this album
sehr elektronisch
Heard it before. The Lemon Song is one of the worst things ever. If it wasn't here then it'd be an ok album. Whole Lotta Love is a banger after all 2/5
Mmmm gandriz visam dziesmam bija daļa, kura man ļoti patika, bet tad kādi 65% no dziesmas bija tādi eh soo idk. Nu man ne isti patika, ka daudzām dziesmam bija kaut kāda repetitive daļa tādu diezgan ilgu laiku, uun es pat nezinu vai man bija mīļākā dziesma.
Fuck moby dick
Fun
Led Zeppeling might be a classic for many, but for me I feel none of it. All I hear is terrible vocals delivered by shrieking. To be fair some of the music is catchy and some of the riffs are good, but it does not stand out as anything amazing to me.
I felt asleep
Blues rock again...'Whole lotta Love' is ok but in general lyrics are as tiring as the sex it references but not a whole lotta fun really. Cock Rock is an apt description.
Not a zeppelin fan.
Wasn't super in the mood.
Didn’t mind it, I forgot to listen to it today but I was stuck to listen to it at night going to sleep and it’s just hits different 💔
This isn't my type of music, while not the worst thing I've heard, by far, it's also not something I'd ever feel the need to play again.
Still just doesn't really do anything for me
Now I've never been particularly a fan of Led Zeppelin to begin with, but this just kind of feels like a retread of their debut, right down to having the pretty organ ballad in the middle! Just listen to the debut, it's better in all respects.
Probably my fave Led Zeppelin album
It's all fine but a bit masturbatory for my tastes. Whole Lotta Love really sags in the middle.
J'ai écouté distraitement
2/5
One of the more boring Led Zeppelin albums
Expected more from this, but is was a disconnected mess.
Album 17 Top 3 favorites off the album: Bring It on Home, Moby Dick, Heartbreaker First, it is beyond important to say this: I accidentally listened to Led Zeppelin III instead of II because somehow my autocorrect got III and my eyes did not process it. I was going to start this review with, "alright folks. This is the album that changed my mind," when actually it was Led Zeppelin *III* that did that. Maybe it was divine intervention because—hand to God—I did not like what I had heard of Zeppelin before III. I didn't. Not at all. Crucify me, draw and quarter me, pear of anguish, whatever. I'm not taking it back. It was true. You'll just have to believe that my mind has been slightly changed. Had I begun with this album, that might not have been the case. I like what's going on melodically. I like the drumming. I don't feel much of anything about the lyrics. They're there. Really, I think I'd enjoy this more without lyrics. The singing itself is fine. I think we've figured out through this project that I'm not much of a rock and roll enjoyer for the lyrical content. Maybe one day I'll turn off the part of my brain that rolls its eyes. That day isn't today. In a shocking departure from my usual preferences, I don't care much for the slower, quieter stuff (that part of What Is and What Should Never Be). Surprise, everyone!!! I probably won't come back to this one because I much prefer III. This wasn't a bad listen, though, and hasn't made me swing fully back to being an avowed Zeppelin avoider. That's progress, yeah?
good album
Will I ever really like Led Zeppelin? I don't think so. This got better as it went along but I can't say I'll ever listen to it again.
I don't like the guitar solo on Heartbreaker I hate the weird drum solo thingy in the middle of Moby Dick --- GOD IT GOES ON
Meh. I’ve tried w Led Zeppelin, but it just doesn’t really do it for me. There’s like 4-5 more of their albums on here, maybe those will impress me.
erm not a fan personally, i think everything was well done and it is by no means a bad album, it’s just not suited for my personal taste. i really enjoy the guitar and bass moments, especially when they’re in conversation with each other. however i could happily go my entire life without ever hearing another one of these songs ever again.
Not the best Led Zep album and they're not among my favourite bands.
Classic, but boring
Hier krijg ik teksten over 'Every inch of my love'. Vriend. FAVO: Thank You,
I thought this album was fine, but I really didn't care for it all that much. The exception would be for "Ramble On," but only because it references the Lord of the Rings.
A whole lotta love är en rockrökare. I övrigt mest rätt ointressant bluesrock.
Well it's only a single album, so that's a good start. Whole Lotta Love - the Top of the Pops version was better. It was all riff, no singing, no stupid cymbal solo in the middle, no Robert Plant sounding like he's about to sneeze. I thought that was going to be the good song. Then ooh baby baby, Robert Plant does his thing. I no like. Some of the music is good, but that godawful wailing over the top makes it unlistenable. Baby. Moby Dick started well, no singing, but it's then a drum solo? WTF? There's a version on the deluxe album that misses the drum solo and the singing, 99 seconds long that's great. This is worse than the other led zep album I've had on here.
I mean it’s alright
Meh. Highlights are Whole Lotta Love and The Lemon Song.
Most of the album blends together like a rock mess. Veering into one to many solos that ultimately makes this very forgettable for me.
If you're interested in the evolution of the rock and pop record, then Led Zeppelin are essential listening - that rock sound, rooted in the blues, the soon-to-be-known as 'heavy metal' vocal delivery, the birth of the 'rock god', the arena-filling live shows... Led Zeppelin were at the forefront of it all. However, as with anything so popular and influential, it can quickly become tired and cliched - I find them a tough listen these days. It all sounds a bit Spinal Tap to me. It IS an adventurous, creative album, and if you try and imagine how it sounded when released in 1969 you can appreciate how groundbreaking it was. But there's also a weighty dourness to it, and listening right now, that's something I just can't get past.
The more Led Zeppelin I hear the less I like it. The guitars and drums are cool, but the singer ruins everything. What an annoying voice. Also the Lord of the Rings references in random songs feel quite jarring when interspersed with lyrics of adjacent songs that are basically saying "ooh baby, ooh mama" roughly seventy times consecutively
Please no more
DNF
For 1969, definitely incredible compared to what else was coming out then. But for now? Boring. 2.75, proto-metal and classic rock isn’t my thing
Will this shrill-voiced child please stop yelling at me about how The Lord of the Rings makes him horny?
not so mine
pretentious rock II
not again
We return to Led Zeppelin, this time with the second edition. This list is gonna string me along to the very end before I finally get recommended IV, isn't it? It's been a moment and a bit since I heard the last Led Zep album - 93 albums to be precise. I didn't remember liking Physical Graffiti all that much, if only for the scorn I feel towards double albums. Maybe this album will be a pick me up. Like my previous outings with Led Zeppelin, this rock sound is vaguely within my sphere of interest, though there isn't too much going on which hooks me. If this music were more up my alley I'm sure I'd be having a whale of a time, though as it stands a lot of the tracks blend together and fail to culminate into something which satisfies me. Still, for what this music is, it's alright. "What Is and What Should Never Be" is a good tune. Big fan of the rocking atmosphere - the jumpy guitars give the song a weightless appeal, and the vocals build on one another pretty well. "Living Loving Maid" is a continuation of this sound, and a pretty fun one at that. "Ramble On" is likely my favourite song of the album. The guitars (both electric and acoustic) are pretty delicate and dynamic. Checkin the book. Influential. Features a lot of classics. My bar for inclusion is pretty low as far as Led Zeppelin goes - I know these guys are legends. I cosign this inclusion.
cool music but did not manage to get into it
I want to like it. But I don't.
The impressions of the album that some call the "heaviest" in Led Zeppelin's entire discography are very controversial. The heaviness of the music, as such, isn't felt (it even seems too "weightless") right up until the 5th(!) track on the album. However, if you abstract yourself from that thought, the songs are very relaxing (especially Thank You). Rather weak guitar phrases that repeat just enough to become tiresome. Not my thing.
It's not that great.
Bof
hot take: I did not enjoy this album that much it was just annoying to listen to, and not in the "hard-listening" kind of way, in the "this doesn't sound good and I'm not enjoying it" kind of way
baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby; baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby babe; baby baby babe baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby; /; /; babe babe babe; baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby; /; baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby baby
I don't know. Not all that it is hyped up to be. Found its adolescent, sex, love, eternity theme boring. And the musical talent was simplistic and rudimentary. The Moby Dick drum solo was impossible to listen to when compared to the true drummer legends of the era like Michael Shrieve.
Some cool songs, but I don’t think I will listen to the whole album again.
What is and what should never be : des vibes jazz sous les cocotiers c'est sympa the lemon song : la guitareeeeeee BROOOOOOO , banger , elle est un peu explicite tho Thank you :
Zeppelin 2 proves that the band is always good for a few memorable riffs, a few great choruses, some nice chunky guitars, and all too many creepy lyrics given the bands nefarious history. Too many uses of “baby” or “child”, which was nothing new for classic rock, but doesn’t make it any more excusable. “Ramble On” is easily my pick for this project. It’s a basic choice but man were they firing on all cylinders with this song. Explosive chorus with some instrumental/arrangement choices that would be a precursor for the direction they took their sound on the perfect Zep 4 album. Too meandering and lyrically too yucky for me. Could’ve gone without this one on the list since they have so many others included, 2/5
A load of stolen material
I don't get Led Zeppelin at all. Poor vocals. Being good at playing an instrument is not the same as making good songs.
It's fine I guess. I get Led Zeppelin fatigue pretty easily. I recognize they're great, but if you have a pulse you have heard the key tracks from this album already, so it's not a must-hear imo
Fun and enjoyable at some parts, boring and outdated at others. Lot of mixed thoughts on this one.
Whole lotta dragging on. Felt derivative and aimless.
Its aight! Dont like palmer much
Final round. Fight Almost grabbed me, but I did a throw escape. None of the hits reached me. Then I hear it start to speed up then I start speeding away. from the album
Not a fan. I thought the album suddenly got better but I found out that it had queued into a Black Sabbath album
Meandering and boring
yeah enjoyed this more than i thought i would, which is to say, i didn't think i'd enjoy it at all!
Paar leuke nummers.
easily the worst of the first 4 Thank You is so abysmal
boring 2
I mean it's fine.
I don't find this one nearly as annoying as Physical Graphiti (what with its nearly hour and a half length), it's more just focused on being pure rock songs but it doesn't do much for me if I'm honest, it's like, well these are rock songs with some good riffs but I can't get into the rest of what Led Zep does
Irritating!
For every cool riff, and passage I can bob my head along to, there's another 5 minutes of nothing. I wish the guitarists were what drove the song and not the vocalist. When the instruments do what they want its a good listen but often it feels like they are constrained which takes away so much impact. I can see how it was influential but I don't think I could listen to it again.
Middle of the road, just a bit pathetic, really. Cock rock. Enjoyed reading people roasting it more than any of the songs, which could have almost been good if they'd knocked it off with the silly moaning and baby yeahs. Vapid.
Meh
Didn't fully finish but it was ok - not fully for me
4/10
A very confused sounding representation of a genre I don’t care for.
Welp, turns out I dont really like Led Zeppelin 🙃
1️⃣Thank You 2️⃣Heartbreaker 3️⃣Living Loving Maid (She’s Just a Woman) 4️⃣Bring It on Home
more instrumentals than expected
Nach ihrem ersten Album leider eine Enttäuschung
"Whole Lotta Love" and "Moby Dick" are fucking awesome. Everything else (outside a couple sections in some songs) absolutely blows. Robert Plant is an annoying vocalist and I don't care at all for these songs
Not my favourite. Will keep trying. I appreciate it not giving me another album from the 70s but it was very close… maybe something more different will come up tomorrow. We can only hope.
I listened to one song and got overwhelmed no thx
Not for me but glad to have listened given their influence
Not bad, but I wasn't impressed. Two out of five.
Best served with a side of creatine and protein powder 💪
Decent but not spectacular was expecting more
Never loved Zep, still can't
I love LED Zeppelin, so I was excited to listen to this album. However, when I took a closer listen to the lyrics, I was grossed out. Most of the songs felt as if they were just trying to lure 13 year old girls to their rock God hotel rooms. Disappointed. I wish it had been instrumental.
Not my kind of thing except for the first song...
Yaaaaaaayyyhhhhhhhhhhwooooooooooooooooooooo yaeeeeeeeaaaahhhhhhhhhh baby baby baby baby woooooooooooooooo ahhhhhhhhhhhh woooooooo aaaaaaaahhhhhh ooooooooooooooooo ohhhhhhhh baby baby (he is not using baby as a pet name throughout this he is referring to an actual child) ooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwoooooooooooo ahhhhhyyyyyyyyeeeeahhhhhhhh lord of the rings yaaaaaaeeeeeee oooooooo baby baby *guitar solo*
Annoying
i mean it was alright
The first three Led Zeppelin albums are just Yardbirds albums with a different band--British boys playing American blues music. Zeppelin only hints at their ultimate trajectory with Ramble On, here. They really get interesting with IV and Houses Of The Holy. I don't hate this album, but it's not their best, not by a long shot. It's an unpopular opinion, but it's mine.
Not for me
Don't like Robert plants voice
boooo
The hits are the hits but otherwise pretty snoozy
I mean.....fine. I didn't hate every track. But I don't understand why I dislike this so much when I do like some similar artists and songs. Maybe it's too much and for too long.
2,5
I’ve tried, I just don’t like Zeppelin man. Whole Lotta Love and Thank You are standouts and I really like those songs, but the rest is meh to me.
Probably a bit too classic rock for me, but some good tunes in there. Favourite tracks: Whole Lotta Love, Heartbreaker, Bring It on Home.
Very folksy and heavy on the blues. I can see how this music was an influence for the soundtrack of cowboy bebop especially the last track
Never understood Led Zeppelin and believe me I’ve tried many times. They just don’t do it for me and I just for the life of me can’t see what everyone else sees when they gush about them. And again, it’s not for lack of trying.
the gang discovers crossfaders
i’m thinking led zeppelin is just not rly for me… lots of weird moaning and talk of little girls that i hate from classic rock albums. they are talented in their playing but i do not get the hype.
The drum solo on Moby Dick dragged for me, but I guess it’s a classic rock album after all. Surprised I like this one a lot less than their first album
Did not care for this one like the other one we've heard. Too much blues.
II > I > IV
5/10
Lord of the rings and jizz
Fine but not my kind of music. Nothing stood out to me about this album - good or bad - which is almost worse than if it were bad.
The hits are the hits, the filler is filler. Car commercials, etc.
If Robert Plant wasn't singing, this would be rated much higher.
Jag gillar inte Led Zeppelin.
So many generic sounding dad rock riffs unfortunately but that’s not the artists fault, the genre has been beaten to death. But yeah it’s boring to listen to most of it. Sounds like a Led Zeppelin cover band lol. I like some stuff happening on “what is & what should never be” tho. Nice softer vocals and bass movements. Same with parts of “ramble on”
Not a fan of the vocals so Moby Dick was my favorite track.
Marmite assume by the sales of this album. Sadly I’m not a fan. So score low through personal preference.
Straight from the end of the 60-ies.
Geht so.
not as bad as some of their others but still not my thing
It’s an alright album, nothing I would probably go back to and listen to.
* Very industrial sounding instrumentals in Whole Lotta Love. * In The Lemon Song, the way he says "b-ba-baby" around 3:04 is hilarious. Very fun to imitate. * Big fan of the guitar (?) solo that begins around the 1:42 mark in Thank You. Parts of this song remind me of Everything I Own by Bread. * That beat that starts around 2:50 in Heartbreaker. Chef's kiss * Very harsh sounding album. * Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman), short and sweet. Might be the best all around song on the album so far. * Moby Dick is oddly soothing. It's almost ASMR-like to me. Didn't think a drum solo would somehow make it's way close to the top 3... but here we are. Had to think if I wanted it first, second, or third and it could probably go in any of those spots depending on the day. * Those top 5 are especially hard for me to judge. Keep moving them all around trying to get it just right. Don't know if I'll ever be satisfied with their spots in the rankings completely, but I had to choose something. -- Album Rankings -- 1. Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman) 2. Moby Dick 3. Heartbreaker 4. Thank You 5. Bring It on Home 6. The Lemon Song 7. Ramble On 8. What Is and What Should Never Be 9. Whole Lotta Love
Wasn't a Zeppelin fan before and am not not.
a 70’s british rock album? on this list? groundbreaking 🙄
I feel like I've been told for years that I should appreciate Led Zeppelin more. I'm tired of trying. The music's just not that good.
Un 6 para mis gustos
Not as good as I was expecting.
I don't like Robert Plant as singer
I'm yet to "get" Led Zeppelin, and this wasn't the album to finally make them click.
Underwhelming Led zepplin
Never understood this album and why people like it so much. It’s pretty mixed. Are Plant, Page, Bonham, and Jones great musicians? Yes. Do all of their musical movements on this album work? No. Does this album have its moments? Yes. Does it have parts where it really sucks? Yes
2/5. Many familiar tracks, but lots of crap as well. Not harmonic, melodic, or rhythmic.
This was alright
Opening track guitar riff ingrained in our heads from early Top of the Pops theme tune in the 1970s. But that's all that's really good about all the tracks on this album, it's a lot of covers with some pretty cool guitar riffs... only spoilt be wandering theatrics of nonsense in the middle.
Is it all freestyle? Or maybe it's supposed to have no structure.. I guess I don't get it
It was fine.
Aggressive, loud, abrasive, rude, and a bit crude. Listened at least 15 times in the past, but it was especially apparent this time that Plant’s lyrics are lacking in substance.
to this day throughout all the music ive ever listened to Led Zepelin remains one of the single most overhyped rock bands. Maybe its the fact that i hvanet fucked like three whores to immigrant song back in the "golden years of 70s" but this music speaks so little to me. Pointlessly long transitions between parts of the song, Robert's annoying voice that gets put everywhere beacuse it's "another music instrument". Overall excluding like two songs this album is a snoozefest, maybe they should've left the blues alone.
Meh.
i dont care. i just dont care about led zeppelin. at all. i simply do not care.
Baby...baby...baby...baby...babyyy... 👶👶
Thought this was better than it actually is
It's crazy just how impactful one group can be. I've heard most of these songs before and despite I am not the biggest classic rock/ Zeppelin fan, that doesn't diminish how important they are, and that there are some unquestionable jams in their discography.
Highlights: "Heartbreaker," "Living Loving Maid" For an archetypal rock band, this album drags a lot. I hadn't thought of Zep as an especially "psychedelic" group, but spacey studio magic gimmick sections reminiscent of the Doors are a big flaw throughout the album. They're not tight either; you can hear the flubs on the attempts at Hendrix-y unison, and while the central drum solo of "Moby Dick" isn't as nightmarishly bad as that Bluesbreakers one, it pales in comparison to all a current listener's expectations. It doesn't help that the lyrics are comically ambivalent, with constant whiplash alternation between cooing about his sensitive free-spirited tender love and wildcat yowling about betrayal. Minus ten million points for writing about Gollum stealing his Mordor girlfriend. Are you kidding me? This is the band that got hippies into LotR? Abomination.
A blues rock effort. Not an awesome one
Flojo.
