Reviews (page 10 of 15)

4/5 vaikka ei olekkaan Muse

I may be becoming a tougher grader. This is my 27th album and seconod Radiohead album. Hail to the Thief was #14 and I commented that any other Radiohead album would likely get a 5 rating. I'm going with a 4 on this one. Really good album and songs. I'm not totally sure what's missing...maybe the songs need to work together a bit more than they do. There are few bands that do that better than Radiohead. I guess the weak spots for me are the front half of Bodysnatchers (love the second half), Faust Arp, Jigsaw Falling Into Place and Videotape. Again, not bad songs, just not songs that bring this whole album to a 5. Maybe Radiohead's arc is straying outside of what I like the most about the band. I haven't gotten through "King of Limbs" or "Moon Shaped Pool," but need to give both another try or two.

I’m generally pretty positive on this one, “Nude” kind of brings the thing to a screeching halt

In Rainbows is an album that I've heard a lot about since its release, so I was very surprised that I didn't recognize any song! But I'm glad I didn't so I could experience for the first time. This album has an interesting mix of digital and analogue and it flows so tenderly. The music feels both complex and effortless, experimental but familiar. I have never heard anything quite like it. Thom Yorke's voice is a treat to listen to!

This is a very good album — a classic, even, for it's time. But isn't it kind of weird that none of this music is really memorable? Shouldn't a classic album have songs and melodies that stick with you over time?

Listened Before? N Radiohead definitely has a style. This one is no different. It makes me feel like I'm stoned out of my mind when completely sober. I actually don't mind this feeling, but it takes a certain day to want to feel that way. That being said, as an album, this one is fairly coherent and well made. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Weird Fishes, House of Cards

in rainbows got that 15 steps to the apocalypse. fuck yall. good album.

It's not my fave Radiohead album. but it's still great

I am definitely getting some exposure to Radiohead in this project, and I am pleased. I would like to spend some more time with the album because it was generally appealing to me, but I had too many distractions today to know for sure how I feel about it.

Still not completely in love with Radiohead but I'm closer? Once again, there were a couple of songs that felt like something special. The rest is better than fine just not quite there.

I received this album for free when it was released via the whole "Pay What You Want" system. Don't blame me. I'm Gen X, and that move was right on brand.

Not their best but still good

Know this well. As Easy listening as Radiohead has got ! excellent

Enjoyed

4.3 + This is Radiohead at their most subtle and mature. I miss the murky electronic quagmires on "Kid A" and the moments of ecstatic opera on "Let Down." But after a couple of relatively weaker releases ("Amnesiac", "Hail to the Thief"), "In Rainbows" feeling like a true return to form. For once, their studio wizardry and abstruse musical influences took a backseat allowing us to hear the music for what it is. The first half is brilliant, particularly "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi." The second half lags somewhat with "Reckoner" and "House of Cards" but "Videotape" wraps it with a hauntingly beautiful closer. Of their brilliant albums, this one rests somewhere at the bottom of their first tier but it's a wholly satisfying album nonetheless.

The first two songs had me thinking that they had changed their sound since I listened to them in the 90s, but then it got back to their roots. Solid album.

I really enjoyed this album. And I didn’t even realize I liked Radiohead!

Super mellow. Would be a good Sunday morning album.

Already at song 4 i can say that this album is one the best i've heard

While I like Radiohead, I haven't listened to a ton of their stuff. I've mostly only ever been a fan of Kid A, and the singles from OK Computer. I was aware of this album but hadn't listened to it. I liked it a lot! I don't think I'd add it into my regular rotation of music, but if a Radiohead mood struck, I wouldn't hesitate to listen to this again.

Own it on vinyl - 4 stars.

More upbeat and funky than I thought it would be. The only songs I knew prior were Nude and Weird Fishes - one of which is outright depressing/beautiful, and the other melancholy - so my expectations were set for something with similar tone throughout but I was pleasantly surprised! Pretty sure I’ve heard 15 steps before… I want to say it was in twilight but would need to check lol (confirmed :o). Big fan of it, on my second listen through. On my first listen, the last few tracks felt like it was dragging on a bit, but let’s see how the second round goes.

Realmente, bueno.

beter dan verwacht voor radiohead

Not that big of a fan of Radiohead, but it was a nice album to listen to.

this was a nice album, new to me, with some good variety. my favorite songs were nude which the title made me laugh, weird fishes, and faust arp. creative, unconventional, and enjoyable.

Very enjoyable- glad I listened to it!

my notes for each song as i listen to them: the album starts on a pretty high note, with 15 step having a very upbeat sound. bodysnatchers has some sick overlayed guitar. nude is absolutely one of my favourite tracks on the album, it takes on an entirely different feel compared to the first two, and is incredibly melancholy while building so gracefully; this song makes me feel so much. i love the feel of weird fishes/apreggi, the guitar and the drums blend with the vocals so smoothly. this band is a god when it comes to builds. All i need is VERY low compared to what the album has been so far, the sound is super deep leading up to the end. faust arp is pretty close to acoustic and is quite the change from the electric guitar used on the other tracks. not as prominent of a build compared to the others. this album keeps coming at me with the vibes from every angle. reckoner pulls it back into a rather upbeat sound that still manages to have that undertone of sadness with the vocals. house of cards has some amazing lyrics. the vocals are beautiful as well. definitely another favourite jigsaw falling into place feels a little more fast paced to some of the other tracks, the drums and the guitar slay so hard in it. absolutely another favourite, i’m a sucker for fast songs with some good vocals. videotape finishes this album off on quite a somber note. the piano a stark contrast to some of the other tracks. the vocals also feel a lot more prominent. the lyrics are a little crushing, they’ve got me entirely in my feels. i rushed this album a little bit because i’m almost at my mark so i absolutely didn’t go into the depth i wanted to with what i thought of each song, but overall i really like this album.

Standouts: Nude, All I Need, Faust Arp, Reckoner, House of Cards, Jigsaw Falling into Pieces and Videotape. Great album. 4/5

I liked to listen to this album on a Monday morning, but I miss the "dark" tone I was expecting from Radiohead. I know that the lyrics of this album are far from optimistic, but it does not look like the same band from "Ok computer," even being a good release.

15 Step was a great intro to the album, the snappy distorted percussion grabbed my attention. The smooth sound engineering on the guitar really feels pronounced when it enters stage and rounded out by the vocals makes for a wonderful soundscape when the chorus kicks in. The album really hits a stride for me on Nude, there's a sad romanticism to the album, progressing through the songs and developing like a open ended question. Personally really intriguing. Coming back for a second listen the lyrics start to stick out, there's a litany of metaphor underpinning the albums theme.

Not an album one can comprehend after one time listening. But I'm highly intrigued. Great Sounds, Great Singing, unconventional - therefore interesting - rhythems and song structures. 4/5 for me at the moment. With the potential to go up to a 5/5 after a couple of additional times listening to it.

Whew! I'm always a big fan of Radiohead. This album is kind of the perfect soundscape to be bummed out to. Vocals are emotionally raw, production is on point--all in all a rewarding listening experience, and definitely one I'd return to. A few tracks I felt meh about but that's personal preference; overall an incredibly strong album. Fave track: 15 step. The opening track is straight FIRE. Love everything about it. Fave track:

Good album not my favorite Radiohead so a 4 will do

Not as high as the highs of OK Computer and Kid A, but serviceable.

Somehow, I had never listened to this in its entirety

It's not bad, in fact it's solid listening but nothing since Amnesiac has moved me the same way. I like this album, but I'll listen to the the Holy trinity (OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac) any day over this. I really want to like this and all their other records that followed Amnesiac much more.

clean mushy moody vaguely somber. classic Radiohead

'It was grand. Not the worst shite.' - Jane (3) 'Didn't hear much but liked what I heard' - Bill (3.5) 'Great album. Good memories.' - Shannah (3.5/5) 'Class.' - Conor (4.3/5) (3.575/5)

Enjoyable, but didn't set my mind alight.

Muito bom.

On the whole, In Rainbows is a spatial and casually meandering album that feels at once both intricately detailed and yet effortlessly crafted. From reading the related Wikipedia article, it sounds like creative process that brought the band to this end was chaotic, but I would never have guessed from listening. Overall, the mood of the album is very cohesive and gives off an air of genre-bending high-art rock. While the majority of the album flirts back and forth between the upper boundaries of melancholy and the lower boundaries of explosion, the one track that bursts through with non-stop energy is 'Bodysnatchers'. I love this track and would be interested to hear a mix of the album that builds up to this as the conclusion, since it feels like such a perfect culminating track.

Ah Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood, the Creepy Freak twins at some of their most personally reflective here. Lovely album, particularly like "15 Step" and "Nude" too. These Oxford boys know how to turn out a good tune. Great album and rightfully on this list.

I've always found that Radiohead albums take an extra bit of effort for me to get into them. But once I get over Thom Yorke's whiney voice I can say that the music is undoubtedly nuanced and complex and they certainly have musical chops. This album is very understated and nothing jumps out at you, but there are some very good keepers here, including Weird Fishes/Apeggi, Videotape, and Nude.

I have yet to listen to a Radiohead album I didn't like

favorite: Jigsaw falling into place least favorite: 15 step

This album is beautiful, I really enjoyed it.

Really enjoyed this.

First Radiohead album to pop up on this list, and it's one from 2007 which is a bit of a surprise. Don't recognize any song titles but let's see how this goes, as I really have enjoyed their major albums that I do expect will show up as I work through this. This album *feels* like Radiohead, but it also seems watered down and definitely not as impactful as something like OK Computer, or Kid A. Mostly Thom Yorke wailing along to some lofi instrumentals. It's ok, but hard to grasp why this is on the list. If I'm rating this as a Radiohead album, probably a 3. On its own merits though it's at least a 4

Rating: 8/10 Best songs: 15 step, Reckoner

3.8 - very accessible Radiohead album. Lacks the nostalgia factor of some of their earlier releases for me, but very enjoyable and listenable.

Chilled sad vibes but also peaceful, kinda lost in space Scifi vibes

My favorite Radiohead album

Red and yellow and pink and green, Orange and purple and blue. I can sing a rainbow, Sing a rainbow, You can sing one too Black and brown and grey and black, Black and blue and red. I can beat my wife up, Beat my wife up, Beat her 'til she's dead

Not bad, rustig

Cet album n'a présenté absolument aucune surprise.

I had this friend who was just ... well, he was a good guy but he was pretentious AF. Just really into the "you couldn't possibly fathom this" side of art. He was also the biggest Radiohead fan I've ever met. Consequently, I've never had much interest in exploring Radiohead's catalogue. But, if this project has taught me anything, it's to be open-minded so I approached this album with a clean slate. I'm glad I did. It was not nearly as bad as I imagined it would be. In fact, much of it was exceptional. Was it a bit up its own butt? Assuredly. But the production was stellar and the songs were fun for the most part. Great background music for a morning of "git 'er done."

Buenisimo

Not my kind, I’ve knew Radiohead many years ago, when I liked Muse much more than now. The lyrics are very good.

Well, it's definitely Radiohead. Can't fault them for having a style.

This was decent but I preferred OK Computer.

It’s great. But not quite at The Bends/ OK Computer levels

What's this? A radiohead album I don't full dull and actively enjoy.. It really is the end of times

First time listening to Radiohead, pleasantly surprised. Bodysnatchers absolutely bangs, straight onto my playlist. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, is weird but cool at the same time. Again very solid album.

Tough. Sonically great album. Vibe-y, mellow, classic Radiohead space-y-ness, very chill. York’s vocals really work with this mature mellow rock. Love the bass/drum mix. Okay, guess I like the album.

Know this album well, love the bass line on Nude. Is it a 5 star? By Radiohead's high bar, I don't think it is. Videotape is a bummer of a closing song.

The best of this album IMO: - 15 Step - Bodysnatchers - House of Cards - Jigsaw Falling Into Place Ah, this album... Loved it as a teen. Still holds up today for sure. 3.7/5

great album. really consistent feel, mostly nostalgic. but super nice and chill to listen to. it feels almost sad, but not quite there. favorite song: probably reckoner

Heard already but absolutely great! 4/5

This isn't the most talked about Radiohead album, but it's a real good one. It's another step for them into the more psychedelic sound. Lots of haunting vocals and rhythmic guitar.

Not too bad, created a kinda bleak melancholic soundscape for me, which I enjoy but may not be for everyone

sassy and fun 3? 4

for it me it is strange, but i liked it

Sometimes a bit depressing but good style

Better than expected though still somewhat meandering and freeform. Second half better than first.

I liked most of the tracks that didn't have that built in 'tune out' thing where you keep missing them. It's like they're invisible. How do they do that?

Downloaded this for free as part of the great pay-what-you-want experiment back in the day, excited by one of the world's biggest bands choosing to go off grid. But at the time I didn't rate it much. Now Spotify makes it available for free too, but it doesn't *feel* free, it feels like part of the same old rotten recording industry system. And I enjoyed it a lot more this time. I guess you get what you think you paid for?

Great album

Amnesiacilla ja Hail to the Thiefillä. Vahva nelonen kuitenkin!

Great album! No misses. Just great songs.

more interesting than I remembered it, I guess it only has a few that stand out at first but it's nice

I'm going to give it 4. Doesn't have any edge. It's not passive, it is aggressive, but it doesn't bite.

Loved it.

Memories of the Dwight spot.

Enjoyed thoroughly

Pretty upbeat. 7/10

I loved Radiohead most during their harder era. This is a great album all the same. Great beats, I couldn’t stop moving my body while listening.

I'm not as big into Radiohead as my other musical inclinations would suggest, but this album has grown on me a ton since it's release. I enjoyed this thoroughly and will likely add it into my rotation

Another amazing album and another career defining moment for the band. Great track all around with Videotape being my favourite. Better than Kid A in my opinion but I still prefer OK Computer to it.

Vraiment bon. Radiohead c'est de la bombe. Mais ce n'est pas leur meilleur. Quand même excellent 4.65

the white man's favorite album of the 2000s -roling stone

Actually liked this more than I thought

Good album with a couple of absolute crackers.

Beklenen verim alinamadi

I prefer the older Radiohead, but it was fun to listen to where the band went.

7.5, i enjoyed it

Back when I collected these stats this was my all-time most listened to album. Needless to say I loved it. Listening to it now… I don’t know… something is missing. I know, hardly subjective. But this album can’t be subjective. It is all predicated on hitting that emotional spot, like optimistic depression (to me). And now it doesn’t hit it. It sounds hollow. I don’t know. I’ll listen again later, maybe my mood was off.

Pretty chill but sonically just an amazing sound

Can Radiohead actually make a below 4 star album? Impossible. 4.45/5

radio head. I hardly know her. 4.8

cabeça radio

Solid. Weird enough to be interesting. Nothing standout amazing but enjoyable as an album.

More experimental as they progress and so better and better. This is a great album.

Pretty good. Had listened to House of Cards before. There were a few more songs on there that are bops.

Self-reflective. Sound and lyrics fill me with melancholy. An album you can listen to over and over and never get tired while still being able to pick up on something new.

First album I am familiar with. Enjoyed it when it came out and still a big fan. Though is another album that the critics love and I appreciate but not an all-time favorite I have on constant spin.

Pretty good

This isn't my favorite Radiohead album, so I never really went back to give it a second try. Glad I had this opportunity to do so, since I've rediscovered a few tracks I've really enjoyed. Writing down Nude, Faust Arp and Videotape.

Never listened to this before and really enjoyed the mixture of instruments and the variety of tracks. Really well done and very good to listen to in all moods

it was super weird and different but that’s what i liked about it, and the last song i really enjoyed the sound

I enjoyed this one! More uptempo than I remembered but slow songs are good too. Had it on in the background while reading so didn’t pick any tracks out

...the one where a hugely popular experimental band finally free of their record deal releases their first independent album by letting fans pay what they want then leads it off with a song in 5/4 time... Big thumbs-up here. :) In Rainbows is probably not the easiest intro to Radiohead (probably the best way to try to ease into the band is to go chronologically (but skip their debut Pablo Honey)) but if you want an accessible-ish great start, go with "All I Need" which is as normal as it gets here, and is still a great song. But Radiohead is not a singles band, meaning it's impossible to "get" or (for me) truly enjoy the band by listening to one song - in many ways they harken back to earlier days by truly being an "album band" - you need to digest this in its entirety to get the full breadth and scope. A song like "House Of Cards" is gorgeous in its layered melodies but it alone doesn't touch upon the organized chaos that the band brings so well in another track like "Bodysnatchers." All in all though, one of my favourite collections from the band and nearly as good as it gets - unlike some of their bigger albums (looking at you OK Computer) this one doesn't peter off at the end and stays strong through the final song "Videotape." Like most of their albums, this one also truly gets better upon repeated listens. Also a perfectly-digestible 43 minutes long (just because CDs ushered in an era where you could jam 72 minutes into an album didn't mean you should...). 8/10 4 stars

Great Album. I think they have nailed what they have been experimenting with. Best track - Weird Fishes

I am generally not a Radiohead fan, but this album is quite good.

1st Radiohead album I’ve listened to. Pretty good 👍

Quasi chef d'oeuvre: Videotape Reckoner 15 step et surtout.. Bodysnatchers Jigsaw Falling Into Place

Great album

I never took to this on release originally and I think I’ve skipped an album which based on three listens yesterday is right up there in terms of Radiohead’s releases - wonderful stuff

Infravalorado

Top tracks: 15 Step, Jigsaw Falling into Place

Best album since OK Computer.

Good musically, not sold on his boring voice, cannot be considered in the same breath as some of the greats, overall good, especially considering his head is a radio, very sad 😢

I liked it a lot, very radiohead

7/10. Hard to judge well because it definitely sounded better when I didn't listen on my car speakers, but I didn't hear much that interested me. Giving it the 7 over the 6 on benefit of the doubt since it did sound nice.

Mood: Frito y triste.

wow this album flew by. I loved the first song 15 Step but that is because it's the song from Twilight that isn't on the soundtrack so that was a nice surprise. I really enjoyed this album, it played all the way through without me skipping anything so that is a plus. It felt very easy to listen to but I still liked some of the more creative beats in many of the songs. Radiohead is one of those bands that I had heard bits and pieces of but not the albums so I'm glad we are getting a few of them on this list. Great album cover too.

An interesting album with experimental sounds, fused with rock, electronic ambient sounds and somewhat moody and atmospheric, I enjoyed it.

Some cool stuff but somewhat low-key for my taste right now. I’ll optimistically give it an 8 because I’ll probably listen to it a few more times.

this was one of the first pay what you want albums. I loved it when it came out. It felt a little rawer than most Radiohead stuff. A little bit of hip-hop influence too. Not my favorite or the most important, but a solid album

It's A nice album to listen and to be relaxing.

Mellowish, not my thing but I vibed with it

I love the music jigsaw falling into place, dnt know why, the album is really calm and relaxed me

I am not normally a Radiohead fan. With the exception of Pablo Honey I have a hard time sitting through one of their songs, let alone a full album. I will say that thought I did sit through this whole album and I I liked it more than I normally do.

mostly good

Another great album from Radio and the Heads! Much brighter than the previous (I think this album is notoriously their most accessible and least depressing), lots of tracks on here that I enjoyed. At this point, when I see Radiohead pop up, I know I’m in for a smooth ride. We’ve had two in about a month, and I can’t complain. Favorite tracks: 15 Step, All I Need, Jigsaw Falling into Place, Reckoner. Album art: Another iconic picture, I see this one a lot. Really love the multicolored text, and I’ve barely even looked through to the explosion behind it, but this one is really fun to look at. 4/5

Very adventurous album, a bit challenging at times. Has two of my favorite Radiohead songs (All I Need and Reckoner). Very strong

Melon is right

First RH album 7/10 song I liked

Great album, very artsy. Disk 2 is where it really peaks. This album is an experience.

Awesomely refreshing.

love the slower songs more than the faster ones

Quite nice

good job Radiohead, good job

Sick band sick album, bodysnatchers easy favourite. Weird Fishies and Faust Arp also great

-Still trying to "get into" Radiohead -Lots of it feels like Yorke wandering around vocally -The highs (Weird Fishes, All I Need, Reckoner) are REALLY high but some tracks feel like filler

Quite mellow but was good for easy listening

The best part of the Twilight movie was the credits. Good choice when it came to the music.

Listened before

I actually already listened to this LOL. It's good. Not amazing, a little too calm for my taste, but I think I'm starting to understand why people like it. My favorite is probably 15 step.

I liked it but don’t have much to say.

It was good That song from the credits of Twilight was on there.

Seth - remembering this album from an ex my freshman year of college, going into it I am reminded of the pretentiousness that comes with liking Radiohead. Hoping to see what the fuss is about. Logan - So far, I'm not impressed (track 2). It's not bad, but not something I feel compelled to go and download. Seth (Track 3) - Enjoying this one a bit more. The music swells to an emotional bubble that feels like slow dancing in a ballroom being filled with water. Logan (Track 3) - Like sitting on a bench with your girlfriend looking at the stars. Logan (Track 4) - Feels like zooming the camera out and seeing the entire world around you. Seth (Track 4) - I was most familiar with this track prior. Excellent stream of memories runs through this one. L (T5) - Very relaxing. Goosebumps. S (T6) - Boring, lyrics seem to not be much for me nor the music. S (T7) I often wonder why I don't enjoy Radiohead, but their music just falls flat for me. This track is honestly pretty, but it does nothing to sway me whatsoever. S (T8) lol boring as shit L (T10) A funeral song I would not play at my funeral. Seth - 3/5 Logan - 2.5/5

From the first 4 songs, I am getting a mix of smooth jazz i.e. Weird Fishes, but also getting that classic grunge sound i.e. Bodysnatchers. Getting very much space odyssey vibes from this album. Something that I would hear drifting through the abyss. It's a weird sound, especially with the incorporation of classical instruments i.e. strings. In a way, it makes me think wistfully of not being able to explore the universe, if that makes sense? As if there is an opportunity to go further than my body or mind can take, but I can't attain it. Fairly impressed, I didn't know how I was going to feel. Album Rank: 7.2 Favorite Song: Weird Fishes

I didn’t dislike it, but every time I thought I was getting into it, the album had finished and I was listening to something else

When they released this as pay-what-you-want, I downloaded it. I no longer recall if I paid them anything initially — but then I bought the physical CD. So I liked it enough for that. I don't care for it as much as some of their other releases, but I respect what they tried to do with the business model there. I think my favorite song here might be "All I Need."

I just don't get Radiohead

I was a big Radiohead for a few albums. But this is my first time listening to this album. There nothing wrong with this album. It sounds like all the other Radiohead albums. It’s just kind of not that interesting. It’s good and it’s their sound. I probably could listen again but it’s nothing overly special.

I tried to really enjoy this, and it's good.. but I really cannot see myself going back to this album. I'm happy for other people that like it, this just isn't for me.

Weird album to rate, i common theme of my listening and critiquing has become the tussle between objectivity and subjectivity. On paper this album is great at what it does, but once again my pallet is tarted by the vocals. ‘Bodysnatchers’ is great and so is the jigsaw tune but I just can’t get over the horrible tone with which the lyrics are delivered. Fuck being a critio be fair, how can I include danceability and stank face into my rating scale without perverting the list completely. Anyhow, overall pretty good, ive just heard so much better in the same scope this album is trying to breach

I think is a good album even if i don't actually listen to all the song, or at least i don't listen the entire song sometimes. But there were 2 o 3 song that actually captures my attention.

i would love to be proven wrong but this only furthered my theory that the average radiohead fan is an avoidant man who listens to them to feel sorry for himself and ignore the fact that he is the root of his own suffering

Well, this wasn't offensive, and it did keep my attention for most of it. I appreciate the changes and shifts throughout. It's definitely not something I would find myself listening to again though.

Other than Bodysnatchers, which is fantastic, this album kind of washed over me. Not bad but I wish it'd had more songs like that second track.

3/5 - I really like Bodysnatchers, but I really lost the thread on Radiohead post-Kid A and never recovered it. This band is like an optical illusion for me with the faces/vases. If I listen one way, it's brilliant, experimental-sounding music. If I listen another way, it's sniveling, whiny garbage. I can never hear both at the same time, but I'm aware it is actually both at the same time.

Not quite my tempo

Paras kappale Jigsaw Falling Into Place

I was a big fan of Radiohead, this album was about where I stopped following them. It's not a bad album, it just feels too down-tempo and adult-contemporary for my tastes. It was better than I remember on this listen, but I'm not rushing out to spin it again.

Opening on a 5/4 song nice! Fast number two, then into ballad number three which is solid album pacing. Song four and we're back to playing with polyrhythms lovely feel and groove to this one. Several mellow tunes thereafter, Reckoner has a nice laid back feel. Latter half of the album is one song blending into another which little to distinguish. Maybe ear fatigue.

I liked "All I need", "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" and "Faust arp". Other tracks are a bit too experimental for me, but I like the idea.

I have seen Radiohead live in concert once. A smaller venue with wooden floors. When "Creep" came on, the whole room expanded and the dance floor felt as if it was breathing. The whole room was jumping in time. I had come for the opening bands. I was not a fan of Radiohead. I found them a bit too arty for the sake of arty. Seeing "Creep" live did show me what their fans saw in them. I got it. I still didn't care for them; they were not for me. This album, when it came out, opened a discussion on the future of music sales and marketing. Much has been said and started with this album. The thing is that they weren't the first band to try doing this but they were the first major band. That's kind of how I feel about their music. Lots of folks consider them innovators, and they are. They are rarely the first ones in and rarely taking too many risks. They were trying to figure a way to deal with the bs that happened with Hail to the Thief. For that, they definitely caught the interest of the music industry and how to deal with pirates. However, they do get the accolades. This was wallpaper music to me. I recognized some of the influences and would rather go listen to those folks. That isn't to say that there isn't anything here. There is nothing objectionable and sometimes a song will hit. "Jigsaw Falling into Place" did catch my attention. This is a list of influential albums and not really based on my own personal taste. This would be a 2.5 star rating. Rounding up gives it a 3. If I was to listen to a Radiohead album, it might not be this one.

I really hate how I can't seem to connect to Radiohead the same way a lot of people do. I just don't like this style, and I think I probably never will, unfortunately. I can slightly understand why people are into this, but there is still some sort of barrier I feel between me and this music. I feel like there isn't much to say about this album, other than I thought it was okay? It was nothing special, but it was also not awful. There were a few tracks that I enjoyed that stood out slightly more than others... Stand-outs: Nude Weird Fishes/Arpeggi

I don't understand the love for the band. This wasn't bad but it's just so boring.

I don't like radiohead in the slightest, but I had to give this a listen. 15 steps, bodysnatchers and nude are great opening tracks, and the rest of the album follow in their wake. Glad I listened to this album

Flojo, un abismo respecto a the bends

they say its their best albums, maybe im missing something here?

Although In Rainbows is different than their previous albums, I feel like my review is about the same. Another well crafted, mellow alt rock effort by Radiohead. All the songs are good, lots going on with the base lines, the drums, and in the background. Jigsaw Falling Into Place is the lead track, also enjoyed the weirdness of Faust Arp. Besides this being a worthy album, part of the reason it makes The 1001 Must Hear list is the way it was released on their website (as a free download and to stick it to the man.) I think we all remember that! I still find his falsetto voice somewhat whiny and annoying. All in all, not as strong as their previous albums. (3.3*s) Good decision keeping it under 45 minutes. I listened to Disk 2, not as good and would have detracted.

Is ok, not their best

the songs blend together. Would be good for road trip

Good sounds, however tends to blend together

Not a big Radiohead guy. I got laid in high school rather than listen to them. I get the vibe, though. I too would do weird shit like this for 20-odd years to make sure I never had to play "creep" live again. Do they still play that song live? No idea, not a big Radiohead guy.

Man...I really wanted to love this, but it honestly felt mid to me. I like a handful of Radiohead songs (none on this album), but this album just did not do it for despite the hype. Perhaps it is more of an acquired taste. With that said, this album was bad, just did not meet expectations with how popular it is. I originally thought it could be a 5 star, but then was like okay 4 star maybe, but by the end I settled on 3 Stars as it just did not stick out to me as anything that special. I might like other Radiohead albums more than this. Favorite Track - Bodysnatchers Least Favorite Track - 15 Step ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good album with some good songs. 6.6/10

Me va gustando

Vocals are beautiful, difficult to understand but dept is there. Instrumental are unique, caught me off guard with the first song in the album. I am not used to listening such songs, but something about this album gives me nostalgia and makes me reminisce about a time I definitely did not have. Favourite song in the album - Jigsaw Falling Into Place No. of Favourited Songs - 6/10 Rating - 3/5

Sounds like the colour grey - find it boring

Radioheads' sound gives me strong college flashbacks Has their sound from previous albums but more beats

Good background music, but otherwise, just fine

So Radiohead coded. I liked it.

I can’t feel this sad

Note : 3 À réécouter : Oui

я слышал All I Need, понравилась Nude.

Better than I thought. Still not as good as past Radiohead

Every time I listen to Radiohead, I think: I'm too dumb to understand this. I like them a lot, and I guess admire them, but not much connects and not much sticks. One day something will inside me will adjust and they will become my favorite band.

It's definitely Radiohead! Tbh I am mostly a Kid A fan, and never really fell into any of their other work.

I can see the hype, enjoyed a few of the songs on here.

4th RH album generator has given means finally found this effort to be cohesive and understandable !!

Having a hard time staying fully invested, really love some of the songs like 15 steps and Nude, but towards the end they started sounding a bit samey. I want to relisten to this on a dark, dreary day; I think that would help.

I liked the album, with Thom Yorkes harrowing vocals, some good tracks on here

This album was fairly boring and mostly uneventful. Jigsaw Falling Into Place was the best song by far. I had high hopes because I liked The Bends earlier on the list, but I didn't really notice many similarities between the two albums. That's a good thing overall, but I just didn't like it nearly as much. Maybe one day I'll appreciate the album more.

First 2 songs had me thinking this might not be too bad. Third song fell into usual line. I must say, the drummer is a fucking metronome. Not noticed that on previous. Perhaps i’ve been thinking of RH the wrong way, as a band. Maybe i should think of them as composers and conductors. Forget about the usual drum fills, guitar solos, etc. How precise is each piece, how can thwy layer the instruments, get the music to swell and recede? I’d like to hear them live to make the judgement i think. Do they get hooked on am idea or two and obsess over that each song? Even the lyrics auggst this - not a lot of narrative, lots of repetition.

There's a line between soulful and plaintive, and this record unfortunately crossed it. I'm usually a big fan of Radiohead - even of controversial albums like Kid A and Amnesiac - but this one made me lose interest. The creativity and emotion are gone, replaced by rehashed formulas and gimmicks that feel like self-parody. Clearly their less inspired offering, and another proof in my opinion that most bands should stop making music after five albums. Still, I don't hate it. It's not an unpleasant listen, there's even a few nice moments, but overall it's just not original or memorable enough for me to bother. 6/10.

Good album. This is the last Radiohead album I had on the list and it was one of the better ones. It is a little less ambient than some of the others and falls a little closer to "The Bends" for me. Still not sure Radiohead is a band I will keep going back to, but this wasn't bad and I might even return to their discography at some point to see if I "get it" eventually. 3.5/5 Might listen again

It was a nice experience. I mean Radiohead is good. Very chill. Great for working just one or two songs where a little bit more relevant.

When to listen: at the beach, at night. Moody, moving, I enjoyed this album but it also felt very much in the background—it was hard to listen to it deeply. I enjoyed Faust Arp for a slow one and House of Cards

Man Radiohead is weird I don’t know what to think of it I guess starting off, Thom Yorke is a pretty great vocalist. I honestly can’t see this music working well with any other vocalist, and can see an absolute nightmare scenario where you had someone like Ian Dury as the vocalist and this would just be garbage. I really don’t know how to describe the sound, but it’s far from bad. Nothing’s painful, quite pleasant at times actually. Jigsaw Falling into Place was probably my favorite track, just think it’s the most well defined I do think it’s just a little artsy and the range just isn’t there. The instrumentation for a lot of songs is definitely on the minimal side sometimes, which isn’t a dealbreaker but not something I tend to like in music. I think it’s also just knowing Radiohead is capable of so much better makes me think they were kinda running out of ideas by this stage of their career This one was really interesting in terms of figuring out what I like and don’t like in music (which is the main reason I wanted to do 1001 in the first place), since it really challenged my criteria. Really agonized between a 3 or a 4 for this one but I think a 3 feels more accurate.

I was listening to this and there was a really cool song so I checked spotify to see the name and it turns out the album was over and autoplay was playing another album instead Radiohead is one of those bands thats very popular ive never heard, very much jerked off by redditors and the like. And honestly all I can say was that it reminded me of Coldplay

This is a band that people seem to either love or hate. I've always kinda liked them, but never rabidly. The only album of theirs I truly love is OK Computer, and the rest I've either had on in the background or never really listened to. This is one that I was certainly aware of (how could you not be when it was being offered for free), but never heard. When it started playing this morning I initially didn't really care for it. I was thinking how the haters might be on to something. As the album progressed I could appreciate the musicality, and by the last few songs I generally like it.. There are not standout songs for me, but this is very much a vibe album, which led to me really enjoying the overall experience. While I don't fall in either camp of loving or hating RadioHead, I can say that there was nothing in here that upset me, but nothing that interested me as the same time.

I enjoyed it, it had this unique sound that I really don’t know how to describe. When i try to think back to the album, All I Need starts playing in my head, truly amazing song.

No real hit songs, but an overall very steady, pretty strong record.

this was an unexpected hit for me! really fun and experimental, i feel like they were having fun exploring or reexploring their sound with this one

Very repetitive

Again, I can understand why some people like Radiohead its just not for me. Maybe if I got launched out of a spaceship and was slowly floating through space to my death.

6/10 Best songs: 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling Into Place I've listened to less than 130 albums so far and I'm already on my third Radiohead album - and the second in about a week. I don't particularly think more than one of their albums should even be on this list. Why? Two reasons: I don't like Thom Yorke's slightly off-tune, perpetually apathetic, poorly enunciated vocals; and I don't like their music, which is always either in a minor key or just slightly off from sounding good. That being said... Radiohead is at its best when they go for a faster, or more conventionally poppy vibe - Bodysnatchers is far and away the best song I've ever heard by them, for example, and Reckoner's music is lovely. The slower songs tend to fall more into their typical pretentious wheelhouse, and I find them incredibly annoying to listen to. Anyways, I like this album more than the others I've heard by them, but I don't think it's particularly amazing. Sorry, but like, not really.

no lhe escoltat encara

again, not the biggest fan but love the melancholy of some of these songs

Decent enough - no real standouts - prefer some of their other stuff from 90s

This is fine, they have better but it’s still a good album to listen to

Not bad but getting tired of radiohead albums

First time listening to this album and I'm a well known Radiohead hater but this album is actually quite good? I was fully ready to just assume I only like their first 3 albums and nothing after that but turns out this one is quite good too 3/5

Another Radiohead opportunity. Oh good. This one was brilliantly dull.

On a scale of 10: 7/10

Good not great. Not my favorite album from radio head.

Ik luister hier vaak naar!! Maar enkel een paar liedje

Really nice! My favorites are "Nude", "Weird Fishes / Arpeggi" and "All I Need"

It indeed is an album

omg i immediately recognized the first song and after he sang 2 words it clicked. 15 step is the end credit song from twilight when victoria turns around and goes down the stairs after watching edward and bella dance outside at prom. okay now im excited nude is gonna put me to sleep. not as excited. someone said all the songs sound the same but faust arp does NOT sound like the closing credit song from twilight smh. favorite song: 15 step

Not my favourite RH album but it’s good. I’ve listened to Nude, Weird Fishes and All I Need many times before so those are the standout tracks in my opinion. Jigsaw falling into place the best song; it’s noisy, fast and Tom yorke shouting like he means it. Last song follows it well with a shift in overall tone.

This album feels like the midpoint of a suspension bridge. It’s decidedly lower than the apexes that are OK Computer and The Bends, but still an integral part of the the discography as a whole.

A heralded radiohead album but one that just doesn't connect with me the way the bends and ok computer does

Had this one already on my own

Takes me back to 2014, when I was in college. All the cool boys loved Radiohead. I like it, don't love it. Some songs were really great, but overall average in my personal ranking.

All of these songs are good on their own but, for possibly the first (or second) time, I dont think they work together as an album. I think I had this critique about another Radiohead album. Individually, they average out to a 4~ish but the sum of their parts isnt that good

It's alright. Better than Amnesiac. But this voice just grates on me after awhile

02/04/2026 I really do not understand the hype around Radiohead. It wasn't a bad album, but wasn't great. Spotify listeners: 43.8 million

Kinda the same vibes all the album

I could see listening to this album, but I would never just listen to any of the songs on their own. All or nothing.

Never been a big Radiohead fan, nothing wrong with them just never listened to them that much. This album was fine, but nothing special. I still don't understand the hype surrounding them.

kinda neat, i want to relisten.

Weird fishes is a really good song. Great production. House of cards is heat.

Liked, didn't love

Didn't finish. Was cool but meh

Ni tan mal, nose si me pondria a escucharlo pero no me disgusto para nada.

Weird, but OK

I enjoyed this much more than Amnesiac but Radiohead still really just doesn't do it for me.

I don’t know. I really don’t like the way Thom Yorke swallows his words so you can’t understand him. But then when I see they are “I’m an animal trapped in your hot car”, I think that may be for the best. I added “Jigsaw Falling Into Place” to my Generator playlist.

something about radiohead music always feels both extremely loud and far away at the same time, but it may be especially pronounced today since i'm still hungover from a week of migraines. i feel bad because i've gone into radiohead before and i think i just dont like their music all that much. it's okay. i don't dislike listening to it.

Bravi, meglio di altri

9th grade crybaby classic. if you're dumb cry to this if you don't know music be dumb and cry to this

Very solid Radiohead release but far from my favourite. All I Need is the only real favourite of mine here.

Better than previous albums

I didn’t connect to this music, but I didn’t dislike it. Favorites were 15 step, weird fishes/arpeggi, and jogsaw falling into place. I would like to give it a couple more tries later since I like a couple radiohead songs and the genre.

Electro-indie mix with big vocals. Not really my bag, and you can hear here the beginning of the genre-muddying, middle-of-the road sound that defined pop music from about 2010 onwards. House of Cards is nice chill track. Best track - Weird Fishes 3 stars - sorry Radiohead, I just don't get it

Decent album, just overall not a big fan of Radiohead.

went into this album thinking it was gonna be worse than abhay. first 2 songs were the higlight for me and turned out to be pretty good. i dont usually listen to music like this but i would definitely listen to it again just not on the daily.

First experience with Radiohead. My favorite songs from this are the ones that feel haunting and heavy, even if the music is not

remember being underwhelmed at the time - not the best rasiohead album, hope the others are in here!

Pretty mid, all of it sounded the same, though the sound was very good throughout, not nearly as diverse as their other stuff

I hate to say this after all of my 1 star reviews for Radiohead, but I didn't hate this album

This feels like something an indoor cat would go turn on to mope to when her owners don’t let him outside

I’m a fan of Radiohead; however this isn’t my favorite.

Radiohead - In Rainbows. 2007 Album Art: Quite like the simplistically chaotic style of the album art. Reminds me of covers of book, CDs & some online website images from the early 2000's or late 1990's. The explosion & colours in the background resemble spilled or sprayed paint, while also reminding us of a cosmic explosion or nebula. It is utterly colourful with a unique display of the colours pertaining to a rainbow. The font is also so plain &, we feel, is really suited. If there was any more complicated a font on this cover it would loose this distinct style. A mix between simplistic structure, in the font, with the chaotic smashing of colours & lights in the background. The Album: Have a complicated mess of feelings with the music on this album (& maybe Radiohead). It is likely influenced from having heard, throughout my childhood, a lot of their music on repeat everywhere. Having that happen really spoils someone's enjoyment & want to engage with the art. But this album really felt, for lack of a better word. unique. Loved the art & music mash-up that is shown in the video clips against the sometimes simple lyrics & singing. There is something remote & sad about Thom Yorke's singing. Like listening to a far off dirge. Haunting to the core. Also felt like the album was artistic without becoming drenched in tactlessness. Especially while viewing the beautiful &, what felt like, thoughtful music video designs. May have had some tears well up while listening & watching "All I Need". A simple way to say an awful lot & place that weight on the listener/viewer. Favorite(s): Nude All I Need Reckoner

- Pretty good study music - More percussive than OK Computer - Not overly memorable - Liked 'Jigsaw Falling Into Place' - Love the album cover

Based on the song titles, I don’t think I know any of these songs. I’m obviously familiar with Radiohead in general, and even got The Bends as my first album last month, but this is going to be a completely fresh listening experience. • I really like the time feel of 15 Step, it’s a really good use of 5/4 • Bodysnatchers is a cool song too, I dig how consistent the beat and riff are • Nude makes for great staring out the window music • I have heard part of Weird Fishes before, in a Youtube video talking about how sparse the bassline is. I’m not sure if I’d have picked up on it without seeing that video, but the bass really does keep it super simple throughout the song, and it’s perfect for what the song’s going for • All I Need looks to be the most popular song on the album, but it might actually be the first that didn’t leave much of an impact on me • The falsetto throughout Reckoner helps make the song stand out While I don’t think this album was as good as The Bends, I still enjoyed listening to it. The songs all felt like they had something to give them their own identities, and they were all pleasing to listen to. Favourite song: 15 Step

1 - In Rainbows - Radiohead Good opener / jangly fun / second song is driving but don’t love it / Nude and Weird Fishes are Radiohead moody / All I Need has a cool beat, mellow but good… this album is Radiohead moody… some of it nice and vibey, some of it too weird or droning. No real standout songs on this and more of a mood than anything. It’s tough because Radiohead The Bends is a top album of all time - this isn’t, but does reflect the overall mood of Radiohead pretty well.

Was vibing with this one

Næs heildarhljómur.

In Rainbows kicks off with a strong bassline that’s kept up throughout most of the album. It’s taken to the extreme in the opening track with a DnB inspired backing beat but given a bit of relief with some diatonic sliding chord progressions to provide a bit of balance. The subsequent track, Bodysnatchers, the best on the album by a good margin, keeps up this strong bassline but ditches the more synthetic DnB sound for a proper harsh guitar based fuzz which I really enjoyed. Finished off with an understated solo this track definitely comes through as the best on the album. Nude continues this emphasis on bass but teases a change in the following tracks with its slower tempo and mellow bass, with a good highlight of Thom Yorke’s higher vocals, something I’d associate more with Radiohead. Weird Fishes / Arpeggi really breaks with the harsh basslines, focusing more on vocals, lyrics about descent contrast well with the ascending scale in the main chord progressions, I really liked this break from the bass heavy tracks before. All I Need brings you back to life with a return of this bassline but kills you a little with the lyrics, very sad. Faust Arp felt a little bit exhausting to listen to, nothing terribly wrong with it but by far the least impressive track on the album. House of Cards has a real ethereal feel to it, bringing in the start of a fade out to the album, followed by one of the strongest tracks on the album, Jigsaw Falling into Place bringing in bright sounding guitar contrasting well with the previous bass heavy buildup throughout the rest of the album. Videotape provides a nice finisher with a much more raw feel to it than any other track on the album, particularly around the intro, really enjoyed this one.

It’s never the first Radiohead album I think of, but is good overall. The singles carry it, and it’s not my fav by the group overall. Still, a solid album overall.

Pleasant but blander than a British person’s spice rack
