Reviews (page 4 of 15)
I LOVE Radiohead, though I'm more of an OK Computer fan. This is my second favourite album of theirs though. I really jive with the melancholic vibes and the lush orchestration of most of these songs. Do I know what Thom Yorke is singing about? No. But I love the songs anyways
The guitars on In Rainbows feel alive. In Bodysnatchers they stretch and twist with pure energy, while in Nude and Weird Fishes they just glide, smooth and calming like waves. Every strum and note feels intentional, but still loose like the band’s just in the moment together. It’s the kind of playing that makes you want to close your eyes and just let it carry you.
Ethereal. Radiohead in its purest form. A magical inter dimensional journey that questions the very essence of what it means to be human. Sick drums.
I heard this album from start to finish without getting bored.Nice transitions of bpms, rhythms, styles, guitars, electronic woos and Thom Yorke's vocals that has so many layers.Overall It soothed my soul.A masterpiece to me."You can try the best you can,the best you can is good enough". It's like a mantra to my head ever since.
Some meaningful part of my heart is taken by Radiohead's music, something that has been true since hearing "My Iron Lung" on a CMJ New Music Monthly sampler CD in early '95; a sentiment only strengthened by OK Computer, which is god-tier, and Kid A, which turned my music tastes upside down. Where to start with In Rainbows… "15 Step" signaled that they once again had redefined their music. "Bodysnatchers" was a thunderbolt of crunchy guitars. "Nude" continues to have little touches I discover each listen, and is one of the best showcases for how their music can be both melancholy and hopeful, moody and euphoric. "Weird Fishes," the standout track on the album, has inspired countless YouTube reaction videos of people having their minds blown. "All I Need" has that longing, plaintive quality combined with so many thoughtful little musical touches. The whole record rewards repeat listens like very few other records do. Each time I go back I find something new to love. I haven't even gotten to "Reckoner" or "Videotape," each worthy of dissertations. Each member of the band has fingerprints all over every song. No note is unexamined. No stretch of music isn't meticulously considered and iterated on. For a very long time OK Computer and Kid A sat in my top 5 and I expected no album would come close to touching them. 18 years later, I listen to In Rainbows far more often than OK Computer, and have come to cherish it. It's a joy. It's vulnerable and filled with light. It's perfect in every way. And it's currently #4 on my all-time favorite albums list, a list I admittedly revise somewhat frequently, but its been within the top 5 for many years now, while OK Computer looks in from #6. It's becoming more and more unlikely we'll ever get another mammoth Radiohead record. Who know if we'll get a tenth album, period. But In Rainbows showed me that a band 15 years into their run could once again reinvent themselves and deliver something seminal. So I sit hopeful that there's more to come. 5 stars. 6 stars. 11 billion stars. (If you ever want to fully explore In Rainbows, there is a podcast called Dissect that did an incredible unpacking of each track a couple years ago. Highly recommended.)
Generally great, but a little noisy in sections, particularly in the first track yet also present in some sections much later down the line. My experience with Radiohead is limited to a few breakout hits most people my age have probably heard, ironically over radio. Goes to show how a groups most popular tracks aren't necessarily reflective of their larger sound, however. The name "In Rainbows" Is a fitting one. Tracks drift through keys, beats and styles like colors shifting in and out of focus. Its a deliberate haze, lazy on the surface but supported with such meticulous layering that the work's soundscape feels professionally unprofessional in a profound way. I have no idea how well these tracks resonate with others, but I greatly appreciate their inclusion on this list and will be listening to more Radiohead soon. 4.5-5/5
Rating: 9.5/10 Feels like being enveloped in a warm blanket, their most beautiful album but not their best.
YAY YAY YAY
Radiohead…? This is my destiny, heh- I fucking love in rainbows, best album (prove me wrong) Not a single bad song I own this on vinyl Absolute cinema I wanna make children to nude and all I need
Me ha encantado. Penita que sean como son.
It's fascinating how this album gradually climbed to the top of a lot of fan's best-of lists. There's something timeless about this one, a return to more straightforward rock and melodies after the expertiments of Kid/Amnesiac and the chaos of HTTT. Magical indeed
Magical stuff. My favorite Radiohead and one of the best albums of all time.
I love this album more than I love myself.
Tried to listen to this as if I’ve never heard it before because, like many people, I’ve streamed this one to death. Bottom line is it really is THAT good, just 10 perfect songs. Radiohead are at their best when they are subtle and deliberate, and leaving space and that’s exactly what they do here. There’s so much room and absence that, when they try hit a climax, it bloody hits.
You ever think you've heard the best that a band or artist has to offer and then you're stunned to find out you might have been wrong? I wasn't sure if I'd experience that in the way I have just now, but we all get proven wrong sometimes, don't we? With that said, I think In Rainbows might be my new favorite Radiohead album. I'm serious. I already listened to OK Computer and Kid A and adored them. Well, I also listened to Hail to the Thief, but as good as that album is, it was never in the running for best. However, while I fully expected to love In Rainbows, I'm shocked at how much of a masterpiece this truly is. What is it about In Rainbows that speaks to me after all this time? Is it the revolutionary release strategy that the band employed using the internet? Well, that doesn't affect the music at all, but it's still pretty cool! No, it's all about the music. The things that make Radiohead one of my all-time favorite bands still apply here and are just as great as ever. Thom Yorke's singing is unmistakable and it works well with this music. The songwriting is deeply emotional yet also somewhat cryptic. The instrumentation here is stellar. The guitars and drums and bass and synths and everything are so cool. This brings me to the standout element of In Rainbows. This album takes just about everything that made prior albums great and blends it together with more to make an album that sounds like no other. You have guitar stuff from the band's earliest albums, albeit with more of an acoustic focus on songs like the magnificent "Weird Fishes / Arpeggi." You have some synthy songs like the outstanding opener "15 Step" that hearken back to the Kid A days. But you want to know the new thing here that makes me love this album (probably) more than the others? It's the strings. The strings make these songs go from pleasant to downright gorgeous. That's the magic of In Rainbows. It's still got some somberness left over from the band's angstier days, but the strings bring a sense of maturity and beauty that left me with an open jaw throughout the whole album. I could go on like this forever. I could talk about more of the songs. "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" might be the perfect microcosm of this album's best elements. "All I Need" is somewhat haunting and yet still as mystifying as the rest of the album. Every song here is wonderful. I can't believe it. This has got to be, without a doubt, one of the best albums I've ever heard. 5/5.
Wow, what can I say about in rainbows. Magnificent album. Just 5 stars. A pleasure to listen to this again
Love everything about it. Complex sounds, fantastic listen.
Fantastic record. 5 out of 5 stars!
Excellent album - such emotional range. Some of my top songs by Radiohead easily. Solid. Both a moment in time and somehow timeless feeling simultaneously.
Incredibly underrated album. Up there with The Bends and OK Computer for me. Definitely checkout "From the basement" and "Scotch mist" on youtube
Gozzy eyed Zionist
Such a excellent blend of pared-down instrumental work with enough electronica to call back to the older albums. In a word this album is beautiful. An easy album to put on, close your eyes and float away. The almost unplugged sound (for Radiohead at least) almost reminds me of something Jeff Buckley could have put out if he were still alive. A complete masterpiece from start to finish
Sublime! Just an absolute work of art!
Absolutely astonishing album, so many rhythms, beautiful soundscapes, styles of songs and fabulous arrangements. In my top 10 of all time.
AMAZING. classic for a reason
Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is obviously the highlight, makes the whole album worthwhile, but the rest is fun too
one of my all time favorite albums omg
This is the first Radiohead record I owned so of course it’s a 5/5.
This album is obviously very good.
Perfection. So great!
Brilliant, enjoyed hearing this again.
Always hypnotic.
Know it well and love it. Feels like a haunted nap
Near perfect album from a great band. Probably their best album. 5/5
A lot of people consider this to be one of the greatest albums (and bands), so I went in with high expectations and... it’s kind of a banger? This was the perfect chill vibe to listen to while maximizing shareholder value. At times, Thom Yorke's vocals reminded me of Matt Bellamy in Muse's more subdued ballads. Favorite tracks: - Nude - Weird Fishes / Arpeggi - Reckoner
I don’t say this lightly, but In Rainbows means a lot to me. It’s the kind of album that doesn’t just sound good — it feels like it knows you. From the moment “15 Step” kicks off, there’s this pulsing nervous energy, but it’s weirdly welcoming. I love how this one balances sharp, experimental sounds with warmth and real emotional weight. “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi” always gets me. That build, that underwater dreaminess — it just hits the sweet spot every single time. I think what really makes this album stand out is how vulnerable and human it is. “All I Need” feels like someone quietly breaking down in front of you, and “Reckoner” has this soft beauty that never wears off. Even the stranger corners like “Faust Arp” and “Videotape” feel essential. I keep coming back to this one, not just because it’s clever, but because it connects. For me, In Rainbows isn’t background music — it’s a place I go to.
It’s their “classic album”
One of my favorites here, so, no discoveries, loads of love. Radiohead started with the music I loved as a teen (Street Spirit in my heart still) and moved to the music I do love now: complex and daring, but full of personality, musicality and feelings.
Too bad, my comment I wrote yesterday seems to have gotten lost. In my opinion, the album is not Radiohead's best. But it is still very good. I enjoyed listening to it again. 5/5
An incredible album. The best radiohead album. Its important to evaluate radiohead songs and albums with the perspective that they are almost entirely novel experiences. And all the blind and bleeps all come from someone's brain. Truly unique in this world
Really long time since I've listened to a Radiohead album and I think embarrassingly I never listened to this one start to finish. Fun to listen to this after the Jeff Buckley one because you can really see the influences on vocal style. I think this is pretty much a perfect album, incredible variety across the whole project which they consistently nail, great songwriting, I would struggle to pick out any flaws with it. The first album I've come back to consistently. No notes. Favourite songs: 15 step, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
I love this album. I was a huge radiohead fan and when In Rainbows came out it didnt click with me in the same way as OK Computer, Kid A or even Moonshaped Pool, but over time its become one of my favorite Radiohead albums. Nude, All I Need and Jigsaw are highlights.
Great chill out and vibe album. I particularly liked Reckoner. Beautiful instrumentals. Will want to go back and listen to this one again for sure.
Modern masterpiece, imo
Instead of going in yet another completely new direction, like they had been doing for the past 10 years, Radiohead instead make 'just' a really good artsy indie rock album. But really, this of course isn't 'just' an indie rock album: every idea, every layer is executed with such perfection that it transcends every label and, ironically, ends up being its own and thus completely novel thing after all. But then again, who cares about novelty etc.; what matters is just how splendidly beautiful these songs are. Weird Fishes, Reckoner, 15 Step, Faust Arp, Jigsaw, they just keep them coming and every song manages to be a complete knock-out.
An album I've only heard in pieces here and there. But as a complete listen start to finish its amazing. An incredibly vulnerable album with incredibly instrumentation, namely the electronic synths and drums. Favourite songs: 15 Step, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Videotape Least Favourite: Faust Arp, Bodysnatchers.
Loved this album, each song is unique and experimental and the sound is so unique to radiohead.
Love this album,
Sometimes the best but always the most accessible Radiohead album, it's where I picked up the plot and finally started listening to them after years of not buying the hype. They lived up to it with this. An airtight album from start to finish.
Thom Yorke is a bit of a cock, but this is a banger album here. Radiohead definitely isn't going to be everybody's vibe, but it's weird when the top review says all the songs sound the same when that album contains very different songs like 15 Step and Nude. At least be accurate about what makes the album suck for you.
With a band this beloved it almost feels pointless to add another rave 5-Star Radiohead record review for In Rainbows. And yet, here we are. Radiohead aren't done yet, but I think we've finally got enough distance to say the run from OK Computer in 1997 to In Rainbows in 2007 is the peak Radiohead era no matter how much love I can extend to The Bends. These two albums bookend an incredible range — and Kid A, with the way those two strokes meet, might just be the mountain top. But of all the Radiohead records I like (and looking at my play history, I like them a lot), In Rainbows is where I most often return. It's more intimate, more fluid and feeling. This record really shifts tempos and moods gracefully, the change from the opening bangers to the slowed-down introspective tones of "Nude" demonstrates real craft. For me the record resolves itself in tracks like "Weird Fishes / Arpeggi" and "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" where everything is both subtle and full of momentum. It feels like they have finally mastered abstraction welding it like a true element alongside all the rest in their songwriting toolkit. Not something at the end of the rainbow, but something you experience going through it.
omg it's absolutely amazing
Good Stuff!
I love that they put this album out themselves and had the freedom to do what they wanted. Beautiful and weird and harmonic and dissonant. The syncopation overlaid with the laid back plaintive vocals, the mix of harshness and lush feels. A perfect mix for me.
Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Great surprise, didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. Excelent tracks, nice drums and bass, and delighful guitars. I agree with a few critics that I've read: it all seems like one long song. But It's not a deal breaker for me. I've favorited many songs from it, excelent discovery! Wouldn't listen if not for this project
Amazing! First time really paying attention to Radiohead—where has the album been all my life?
Top 10 albums of all time for me.
Best Radiohead album.
Just gorgeous
5/5. Changed my life. Even the B-sides or the side album bangs. Online release at the time? 0/5 for their songs on this album being in a Twilight Soundtrack. Is it also fuck Thom Yorke as a person?
Classic... And setting the price by donation was revolutionary at the time.
Greatnalbum
Close to perfect album
First album I know I will be returning to on this list! The experimentation is great. I can hear the influence on many of the artists I listen to today. Nude is fantastic and so is jigsaw falling into place.
i really liked this album, but you know what i like more than ts? gay porn. more specifically buck breaking. its essentially when a black man gets dominated by a white man in a typically non consensual matter, which i really like because that tends to tickle my fancy. being gay, interracial, and non consensual ticks ALL of my boxes, bc im a fag!! (icydk)... my friends at school have been trying to figure out what i jerk off to (LE WEIRD BRUH MOMENT 💀) and this is it, i used to jst stare at it in my basement but recently i discovered if i rub my penis in a certain way a liquid shoots out, which is mighty sus... but it feels so good and i cant stop myself, it also only happens if i watch buck breaking... the way that big beautiful black bubble butt bounces on the white actors penis just... yk... activates me? if thats the correct way to say it. whenever i have a day off school i always say its because i didnt feel like going, but its actually because i went so hard the previous day to gay porn that i dont have the energy to get out of bed in the morn' (slang). anyway, enough of my tangent here, the way radiohead really manages to speak to my dark (thug) passenger is quite remarkable, i think i might listen to some more. when i was 7 i was brutally beaten by a group of 6'5" anthropomorphic cockroaches from morpeth which slipped me into a depressive phase where i felt like i lost all power in my life, and turned me into an asexual, until of course i discovered buck breaking!!!! (secret dont share this) but that was when i realised i was a... HOMO!!! which is what really made me like this album because its so emo. wow... cried while i was typing that. i dont talk to many girls, because FUCK THEM! they only care about chad and not a sweet little lover boy like me,,, whenever i try to talk to them they always say im too short or im chopped, and they wonder why im an incel. these femoids obsession with looks nowadays are gonna make me do something bad, none of yous should come to school tomorrow, because i will. make. them. pay. (🔫) i spent over $1000 dollars on a cologne collection and it did nothing they still wouldnt even look at me. FUCK FOIDS!!!! ima based guy who disrespects women and minorities
From the get-go you can pretty easily tell that Radiohead's 'In Rainbows' isn't retreading any old ground when it comes to rock music. Where many bands struggled to capture the sounds of rapidly advancing digital technology, with product on only possible in this age, and a worldwide digital release to boot. "Has the light gone out for you? Because the lights gone out for me. It is the 21st century." 15 step embraces the capabilities of modern DAWs expertly and creates a crunchy, off-kilter, scattershot groove that wouldn't be possible without digital technology. And that's not to say it sounds robotic or even manufactured even, instead it's been mixed with live drums to create a brilliant human energy which makes the song incredibly infectious. Unlike Ok Computer and Kid-A, there isn't an overall atmosphere of cold, robotic steel and insentience, every song breathes organically and has a sense of great brightness, which is incredibly uplifting. Every sound on this album is masterfully recorded from the overdriven guitars on Body snatchers, crispy drums on weird fishes to the bass on Nude and the grand piano on All I need; easily one of the albums to test any new hi-fi setup. Still sounds new today. Best tracks: 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, Nude, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Faust arp, All I Need
Beautiful. I remember this was a free download & RH requested you contribute what you thought it was worth.
Well this is funny, I literally just listened to In Rainbows for the first time yesterday of my own choosing because I thought it would be forever until I would get it for my album of the day. Little did I know. Great record though. Not quite nearly as mind blowingly phenomenal as OK Computer but a well crafted album nonetheless. It’s an enjoyable listen and pretty much no track is a miss. Also I enjoyed Weird Fishes and Reckoner so much I have to mention them specifically; great songs. The album as a whole though has room to grow on me, so for that reason I’m feeling a strong 4. Traaaans… …ition. 🍉🥸 Edit: (4->5) the album grew on me.
best radiohead album
They're Zionist dogs so fuck them, but this album is still a masterpiece.
Solid solid album. I really enjoyed hearing it again, as it's been a while. Liked Songs Added: Bodysnatchers Weird Fishes/Arpeggi All I Need
One of my favs 10/10
-wow. just. beautiful. I have listened to this album probably like 20+ times in my life and it just gets better every time. every song on here is worthy of Radiohead hall of fame and it’s soooo perfectly cohesive. and it’s not even my fave by them. perfect album to listen to on a summer night too.. thank you -okay I’ll stop the over the top Radiohead meatriding for now…. Until I get to Kid A -Favorites are 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, Reckoner, House Of Cards, Jigsaw Falling Into Place
RADIOHEAD!!
Great album. My current favorite Radiohead album. Best song: Faust Harp & Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Perfection.
I've listen to this album so many times I can't count them, so it's a 10 out of 10 withouth doubt
I don't think I've heard this whole album before, just parts of it. I think it's my second favorite by Radiohead now. 4.5/5
Not a bad song on it. I haven't listened to this one as much as OK Computer or Kid A, but it's still a favorite.
One of my all time favorite albums.
Just one of the best sounding albums ever. The band and the producer were in a higher state of existence for this one.
One my favourite albums with Reckoner one of my favourite songs
more radiohead, and another excellent listen. this is probably shaping up to be my favorite album by them so far, if there's one thing i love it's psychotic and colorful experimentation. this album is about life, and how baffling it all is. hiding under the covers, under the blanket lies you, manic and frazzled as psychedelic lights and balloons surround you. this album is coruscating and the more you listen the more you get lost in its musical vines.
some of my all time radiohead favourites on this one. feeling cliche giving out a five to them, like a typical rateyourmusic dweller - I'm not the biggest thom yorke stan out there... but there's no denying this is an amazing album
Already heard all these bro
Already know before starting, great album but some songs are a little boring and uninteresting. Fav is jigsaw 8.9/10
MY FAV RADIOHEAD ALBUM!! this album is so fantastic and i love the shift of energy in this one from their previous album which was much more melancholy. my favorite song from this album is “weird fishes / arpeggi”. it encapsulates every confusing feeling into one song! this album is certainly in my top 30 albums of all time.
Probably my favorite Rasiohead album
"All I need" :)
One of my all time favorite albums. Perfection 👌
5 rainbows out of 5
Beautiful album. Radiohead have a singular way that they can fuse ideas from alternative rock, electronic, progressive, ambient atmospherics, arty experimentalism, and poppy hooks. It’s a wonderful fusion that they pull off seamlessly here. The album had a smoother, calmer, and more introspective and personal approach than their previous bests, but this is still on par quality-wise.
Amazing
On top 10 in 2000s
és un trànsit cap a l'interior.
Probably joint favourite album with OK Computer so…. Yeh.
it’s in rainbows. it’s a classic. all the tracks are amazing. the basement sessions are even better!
Excellent!
Top 5 album ever for me, favourite Radiohead album. No skips on the album, every track is fantastic.
This is much better than I remember it being. For someone like me, who's not a big Radiohead fan by any means, this is the record to check out. It's accessible yet complex in structure, something that not many acts are able to pull off as well as Radiohead did here. There's some really catchy melodies on songs like Reckoner, Jigsaw and 15 Step which is a crazy good opener too. The songwriting is great, it seems like the more melodic, poppy style of alternative rock is the sound that Radiohead were meant to do. It was between 4 and 5 stars for me, but since I think this is their best album I went with the later.
I sincerely apologize for being late to the Radiohead enjoyers party. It used to just be OK Computer and The Bends for me, but I 100% get it now
Day 2 of 1001 Albums Radiohead - In Rainbows What a beautiful album, never listened to it through before, definitely one for your headphones/listening loudly. Amazing sound and production, great melodies. It’s nearly perfect, just a couple of songs miss the boat (especially the first track) Stand out tracks (which is all of them really): All I Need House of Cards
Best
LOVE LOVE LOVEEEEE
Loved it so many pretty outros nude was my favorite and when I really locked in with this album
Almost all bangers
Love it
имба.
Fantastic album. Modern classic. Literally not a bad song on this album.
4.5
My favourite Radiohead album, containing several top 10 Radiohead songs. "Videotape" is my favourite. Bumped to 5 stars.
4.5/5
Love this album. I think it nicely balances Radiohead's more experimental era with the more organic sound of their earlier albums. I've long toyed with the idea of saying this is my favorite Radiohead album, and I think I'm finally there. Kid A and OK Computerare both fantastic, but here, there's no fat, just great tune after great tune. Hard to pick highlights, but for me I think "Bodysnatchers", "Weird FIshes/Arpeggi", "All I Need", and the haunting "Videotape". 5 stars.
One of the best alt rock albums of all time
Holy peak
Not as iconic than OK Computer. As an album very atmospheric.
Rarely can one encounter such an album that everytime you think "oh, this must be the best track" then as soon as the next song hit you, it's like another whole new world just dawn on you. The album is so perfectly and nearly done, I love the absolute cleanness this album contained in itself. A 5/5 album with no question. "Reckoner" must be my favorite track, or could be "Faust Arp", or could be "Jigsaw Falling Into Place", I really can't decide.
Beautiful, gorgeous-sounding, sad and bittersweet in one of the best ways possible but still warm and friendly, too. This album sounds like you have a big hug while crying.
mein lieber herr gesangsverein jetzt chund das tatsächlich au scho! freu mi scho sit em ahfang und han au es dementsprechend grosses grinse im gsicht gha woni‘s am morge gseh han <3 mit abstand mis lieblings radiohead projekt und weni mi da nöd tüüsche au zimmli sicher ih mine top 10 albe of all time! ich fühl mich grad prognostizierfreudig – han mer churz überleid das min erste pick für es kollektivs straight up 5* album mache aber so wiit us‘m fenster möchti mi ah dere stell doch nöd lehne… also mini kristallchugle seid ah, dass de timon es 5i gäh wird, de basil & de nedi es 4i, d‘vici es 3 und falls d‘maya es comeback gid schneiets au es 4i. you heard it here first folks!
Standouts: • Bodysnatchers • Weird Fishes / Arpeggi • Faust Arp • Reckoner • Jigsaw Falling Into Place
certified BANGER there is not a bad song on this album, almost every track is a modern classic one of the best bands alive at the peak of their powers, it’s just so sick front to back
It’s not my favourite Radiohead, but it’s probably their best on paper. There’s not a wasted second on this thing; every song is undeniably great, and it’s a lot shorter than I remembered — I was shocked by how quickly I got to the perfect ending of Videotape. I gave myself more homework and listened to In Rainbows disc 2 as well and even that is better than most bands’ best albums (Bangers & Mash is up there with my favourite Radiohead songs). An easy 5 star for me this.
beautiful. no notes
My absolute favourite Radiohead album, among several excellent ones. 15 Step is my go-to song for trying out new stereo settings or headphones. Incredible sound, incredible music.
Perfection
Overall: 9/10 I would like to apologize for my previous Radiohead hate, I have no idea what I was thinking... Jonny Greenwood has been one of my favourite film composers for a really long time so it shouldn't surprise me that I would eventually enjoy Radiohead, but this album caught me by surprise. The songs are so beautiful and make me feel happy (not sure if that was their intent but it works). I'm still never going to be a huge fan of Yorke's vocals but he's also never sounded better. To be fair, I've only listened to 2 of their albums in their entirety now but they definitely have a new fan. Fav Song: Weird Fishes/Arpeggi Least Fav Song: Nude
Perfect from track to track. The perfect mix of experimental and mainstream rock.
Radiohead's best.
Insane gut.
The golden ratio ️🌈
Beautiful.

Not much expectations after listening to Kid A and Amnesiac but this blew me away. Absolutely incredible.
Fucking fantastic. 9/10 (would be 10 had I not heard OK computer before). Definitely some more light in here than OKC, but still definitely an album of many emotions. Have had some turbulent (albeit mostly positive) days, and this album was very satiating considering where I am and what I (guess I) needed.
This was an easy one. Probably my favorite Radiohead album, and it's already in the rotation of records I return to with some regularity. I once heard it described as "Radiohead Paint by Numbers" but that just sounds like sour grapes. Every damn song is a banger and that 1-2 punch of Reckoner to House of Cards is *chef's kiss*.

I think my fav Radiohead still. Didn’t even expect to give this the 5 but damn it goes down easy!! So beautiful!
i like that its sort of a heavier rock-y sound compared to the early 2000s stuff... i mean i like radiohead, fuck it
One of probably my 10 favorite albums. I’d have to think exactly where this ranks exactly but it’s my favorite point in Radiohead’s incredible discography and easy five stars.
LA Woman is bluesy it’s funky Jim Morrison does a guitar solo with his voice on Cars Hiss by my Window, love it
So much to hear that repeated listening is required
In 2007 I was working at chain CD shop Sanity as one of their Christmas casuals. I was objectively bad at the job – incapable of using the POS system for anything more complicated than ringing an order through; almost spitefully bad at locating a CD disc stashed away in (alphabetised) library behind the counter – but good enough with the customers (and on a short enough contract) for it to not matter too much. Sanity was a going commercial concern, not a charity. And so I was expected to monetise my enjoyment of easy conversation about music – the thing I’d, idealistically, signed up to do – to upsell customers a DVD lens cleaning kit. I don’t know if they compared scores regionally, but the scores I was posting absolutely killed it in the Rockingham shop that holiday. It was miserable stuff; charging emotionally vulnerable or lonely members of the community the cost of a lens cleaner to talk about Rod Stewart. But it was also the opposite, and completely joyful. Whether the lens cleaner extended the life of a cherished device or not – that good chat about Rod’s shady 80s I had with a septuagenarian is one I remember, 20 years later, like it was yesterday. In Rainbows came out during that short spell at Sanity. It was a newsworthy release; the band put it out digitally on a “pay what you wish” basis. And while that ultimately proved to be a shrewd financial move – alongside the entry into music PR history, it also became Radiohead’s most profitable record – it could maybe have been improved: make a record this addictively beautiful “try before you buy” instead and you could charge just about whatever you want. I’m grateful of the chance now to fully explore the depth of In Rainbows. For one, it feels like a record that’s comfortable with being liked. It’s absent of any showy stuff that other artists entirely dedicated to, say, glitch, do so much better than Radiohead ever reasonably could – and as a result is both far more focused and comfortable in its own skin. A song like “House of Cards”, for example, is almost comically non-Radiohead; but at no point do I feel like laughing. In the context of a record that’s already battered me around with the rollickingly excellent “Bodysnatchers”, diaphanous “Weird Fishes/Arpeggi” or “All I Need” or “Reckoner” or … well; everything else … it’s a welcome bit of respite before “Jigsaw…” and “Videotape” (about as brilliant a pair of songs to close an album as is strictly imaginable). I’ll never be able to pull this record apart from my memory of that sweaty couple of months working in a shopping centre CD shop. And while I didn’t downloaded In Rainbows at the time – not from the band, anyway – I think posterity would see me awarding it a price far in excess of that of a lens cleaner. Luckily for me, that’s something I could say for a lot of what sticks in my memory about that summer.
it's peam
Absolutely love it... feels warmer and more human than some of their previous records though I'ave also loved their clinical feels.
Lovee this album, took me a very long time to appreciate any Radiohead songs, if you'd ask me to review this album as a teenager I probably would've given it a 2. Now, it's some of my favourite music: weird fishes and Jigsaw falling into place are just excpetional. Fav song: Jigsaw falling into place
my medicine after a hard workday.
This album tickles my musically inclined brain in all the right places. Radiohead are such fantastic musicians, and I can hear it in every burst of dissonance and odd time signature. Thom Yorke's vocals are certainly unique, and his style works with a lot of the songs here, especially when he harmonizes with himself (soooo good). Throughout the album, I tended to gravitate towards liking the more straightforward (although it's hard to call any of this straightforward) and rock style tracks. While I don't hate electronic music, I feel that tracks like 15 Step and Bodysnatchers were the ones I liked less, although still good, while I more enjoyed tracks like Weird Fishes and Jigsaw Falling Into Place. That's not a dig at the style though, it's fantastic and creative and unique, and territory that most other bands don't stretch their horizons into. The album isn't too short or too long, and nothing here overstays it's welcome. And the production is 👌 every sound is fantastic (although high grade production is an expectation for me with music this new. Still above average tho, didn't fall into a lot of traps that many modern artists do). Overall, I enjoyed this album more than I expected and I think 5 stars is an appropriate rating. Favorite Song: Weird Fishes / Arpeggi Least Favorite Song: Faust Arp
part of me wanted to dislike this because i know how much music bros love radiohead but unfortunately this was just really really good
I've listened to this so many times I could probably review it in my sleep. like many young music fans, Radiohead was my entry point into a whole host of different musical movements, styles and scenes; and In Rainbows was their newest album at the time I first became a fan. over the years, it's more than earned a reputation for being one of the band's finest albums, if not their best. OK Computer is still Rate Your Music's favorite, but In Rainbows has it beat in terms of the raw ratings (it's 0.03 points higher than OK Computer as of the day I'm writing this)! I'll ride or die for Kid A supremacy, but on some days, my favorite is In Rainbows too. not only does this have my favorite production and mixing of any Radiohead album (such a luscious, warm sound, even in the electronics), but this may be the band's most consistently entertaining and well-crafted batch of songs to date. it's definitely an easier casual listen than any of their previous four albums were. even the interlude-ish track "Faust Arp" does a lot in just two minutes, with the strings coming in on the back end serving to elevate the track to a transcendent conclusion. the five tracks with strings are all tremendous, especially "All I Need," which may be my favorite ballad Radiohead has ever made. whether the band is plowing straight ahead in a rock idiom or taking a detour for something more introspective, they absolutely nail it every time. 10/10.
A perfect album, the total crystallisation of Radiohead's talent in one album.
Opening track was the credits music in the first Twilight film so obviously top tier
Every time I listen to this album, I'm amazed at how good it is. The songs flow quite naturally into each other, they have a very good cohesion, but at the same time they remain unique. There's something about it that just carries you along, but I can't even say what it is. I need to listen to more Radiohead.
Actually an incredible album. All songs added to my playlist. Love the guitar riffs and the singing, really love this style of alt-rock. I been sleeping on Radiohead for too long. 5/5 for sure.
radiohead never missed
blurring shiny..
instrumentals!! I loveddd. creo que my fav fue in my head? si así se llamaba JAJAJ
I already know it's a 5, one of the GOATs. Listened to disk 2 which is also very good, though slight.
Hadn’t heard this album before, but just adored it.
10/10. It's Radiohead. Enough said.
This record means absolutely everything to me. It's the ground zero for everything I would grow to seek out in music. Noise, post-punk, krautrock, shoegaze, weird, jittery rhythms, vocals that are "haunting" and "hard to like" and "too much". Melancholy, alienation, passion, nihilism. I bought this CD with my pocket money in sixth grade and immediately put it on in my mom's car in the parking lot, it quite literally changed my life more than anything else on this list.
Not their best offering, but like everything they do it’s immaculately Produced and always trying to break new ground. Flawless
Also February 4th (keeping the 2000s nostalgia going) If it's in any way representative of my current personal bias, Radiohead was my #1 most played artist last year on Apple Music, beating out the Beatles and Kendrick Lamar for the first time. Yet having the other 5 Radioheads on this list randomly generate first meant I let In Rainbows fall by the wayside. Rediscovering it now, I kinda see why: it doesn't have a lot of what tickled my brain in the Kid Amnesiac era, nor the anthemic cuts of Ok Computer or the Bends. It's just an extremely nice listen and that's okay >:0 HL: "15 Step", "Bodysnatchers", "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi"*, "All I Need", "Reckoner", "House of Cards", "Jigsaw Falling Into Place", "Videotape" *it might be my favourite song by them
I LOVE THIS ALBUM, EVERY SONG IS BLISS!!!! fav song is probs reckoner.
Always 10/10 album. One of my favorites from front to back
Prior to this album I had seen album art and heard bits and pieces of Radiohead here and there throughout my life but this was when I accepted them into my blood stream. I feel lucky that In Rainbows was my entry point. It's wild to me how they're able to strike the balance of making accessible pop songs while remaining Radioheady. I really appreciate the quality of an artist where they're able to create something fresh while weaving in previous skills and learnings.. I guess that's essentially what evolution is? Seems to suggest they are a healthy and thriving body able to channel the pure life energy and turn the future into golden goose eggs. Grateful to be alive during the Radiohead dynasty! Please help me see them live before I/they die! 🙏
5/5. I want to have mixed feelings about this but the production and uniqueness of this album just always stands above everything else. It feels more like a continuous song and idea than several different ideas like their previous releases. It's an album of loneliness, it's not one you play with other people. A moment of existential crisis and eventual collapse overthinking everything, an allegory for the curse of a human brain. The mind death of ourselves. A wonderful and terrible listening experience. Best Song: 15 Step, Bodysnatchers, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Videotape
Stellar album favorite track: reckoner other picks: 15 step, nude, jigsaw, videotape
First album I actually own
I get it. Radiohead is the way. Favorite track: Jigsaw Falling Into Place Saved songs: Nude, Weird Fishes / Arpeggi, All I Need, Jigsaw Falling Into Place
One of my favorite albums of recent memory. Brings back rock post kid a bit keeps the soundscape energy. Masterful. 9.5/10
This album may be the most agreed upon Top 10 album of all time from every walk of life. The heads love this album. The casuals love this album. Thom and Johnny loves this album. And it's their 7th album... Nuts. OK Computer may be "better" but it's still an absolute 5.
Perfect album
Overrated but Great album
“In Rainbows” could be a sort of Radiohead greatest hits, not necessarily because it has their best songs on it but because it showcases them playing a variety of styles they excel at. The album has “Bodysnatchers,” an incredible hard rocker, all riffs and feedback. It also has expansive prog numbers like “Weird Fishes / Arpeggi” and “Jigsaw Falling Into Place.” It even has what might be the only Radiohead songs that could be called sexy: “Nude” and “House of Cards.” There isn’t much electronica but the glitched-out beat of opener “15 Step” feels like electronica-rock fusion. And the bass line in that song is just insanely cool and steals the show. Also I love how a quick sample of a children’s choir gets dropped in a few times. The mix is unique but somehow all adds up to a soaring song. There are other singular tracks here, like “All I Need,” a devastating song about unrequited love. “I’m an animal trapped in your hot car.” What a brutal and perfect way to describe loving someone from afar. The music captures that big, cavernous feeling of loneliness and of having love to give but no one to give it to. Thom Yorke’s falsetto on “Reckoner” is gorgeous. Everything about this album is well-balanced and this song is another great example. The piano melody carries the song’s emotional heart, complemented by the strings, which take the emotion to another level. The bass line anchors the song in a rock beat and the small percussion really shines with those little flourishes of tambourine. The mood of the album is often melancholy, as the case tends to be with Radiohead. But there’s a lot of hope and beauty here too. True to the title, there are flashes of sonic color I find dazzling. No two songs are alike. And the emotion behind these songs make them deeply rewarding. The production, the songwriting and the performances all combine for an incredible experience. It’s the Radiohead album that made me fall in love with the band and it’s one of my all-time favorites.
Big one here. "15 Step", "Jigsaw Falling Into Place", and "All I Need" are Radiohead staples and truly great pieces of music. I was late to get into this band and I'm almost happy I was because I still come across songs of theirs that I've never heard and I'm consistently blown away. I love that Radiohead does their own thing and has carved out such a space for themselves in rock music. To me they are such an interesting listening experience; growing up I found that a lot of people close to me didn't immediately like them during their first listens, but only gradually over time came around to love them. That's definitely what happened to me, and I can really only recall one or two random music fans who I knew who loved Radiohead from the jump. Their sound is just idiosyncratic enough that you kind of say "what WAS that?" during your first few listens, and when it's over you say "oh I need to hear that again.. what was THAT?". They do so many things right, and they cram so much into their soundscapes but it's all so coherent and appropriate. "Depth" is the word I'd use to describe them if you made me pick one. I love how there is essentially always a rumbling tension in their songs. They have softer ones, they have harder ones, but the majority feel like there's some undercurrent that is building throughout while layers and textures of lighter musical elements and voices dance around on top. It's unsettling in a way but also makes me want to lean in and give the most amount of attention as possible to the song. This is one of my favorite characteristics they have, and it's rampant on this album- in the best way. To me this is a 5. It hasn't always been a 5, and if you would have asked me a decade or two ago I would have been stingy and gave it a high 3 or a low 4, but I just needed to grow a little to fully love it. I'm so glad that I wasn't stubborn with this band and album and gave it enough chances.
one of my all time favorites
Their best album hands down
Amazing. Mesmerizing. A brilliant pullback from the electronic and genre-bending discordance of “Kid A” and “Amnesiac.” I go back and forth a lot with what my favorite Radiohead album is. But today, it might be “In Rainbows.”
15 Step - 5/5 Bodysnatchers - 5/5 Nude - 5/5 Weird Fishes / Arpeggi - 5/5 All I Need - 5/5 Faust Arp - 4/5 Reckoner - 5/5 House Of Cards - 4/5 Jigsaw Falling Into Place - 5/5 Videotape - 3/5 Average score: 4.6/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it's Radiohead. no words necessary.
Great album by the best band ever. A game changer.
I still remember when they released this album for free with an optional donation. The whole thing was recorded in garage band. Still holds up as one of their best. Love it.
In Rainbows (2007) - Radiohead Suffice to say that there was not a single drop of doubt that I would give this album the best rating. I would rate even higher if I could. I call the legendary “5 out of 7 perfect score” https://imgur.com/a/when-you-become-smart-trolls-personal-enemy-Gjcb5 Highlights: hard to choose, I love the entire album. Let’s say Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Faust Arp, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Videotape Skippable: none, this album is pure gold. 1. 15 Step - 3:57 first of all, I love the beat in 5, it feels so natural that I would bet most listeners don’t even notice it. the mix is perfect, the effects, the ambience, the quality and precision of the stero image. vocals are super clear and consistent, the fxs are awesome, this song is epic, great stuff. 2. Bodysnatchers - 4:02 i love playing this riff, it is as fun to play as it is listening to, and this is a word that captures the energy here. this is a fun song, intense and energetic. the guitar riffs slightly out of sync, but perfectly alternating in a syncopated manner are very charming and give the song a lot of movement. the density of this track is absurd, there is so much going on, I can’t quite explain how it works so well, but it does and that’s why I can’t give enough compliments to the arrangement and mix of this track. 3. Nude - 4:15 an elegant track with very nice moving textures and alternating minor/major harmony. vocals are soothing and delicate in comparison to the prior tracks, which were very agitated, and this sets a motion towards new territory. we approach an entirely new perspective in the storytelling and this is not only exciting but also an interesting development. 4. Weird Fishes / Arpeggi - 5:18 then we arrive on this timeless classic, dare I say. the steady beat is challenged with a persistent ostinato of guitar arpeggios and softly fingerpicking-like harmonies in layers of nice lush and wide ambient tones. drums give it a rest while the vocals are sailoring gracefully over this ocean of sparkling arpeggi, only to suddenly recover the motion after a dramatic break, giving the song a new vibe and pace, even thoughthe rhythmic formula is pretty much the same. now we have some deep sounding bass melodies giving eerie vibes with some sort of underlick, accompanied by synth pads and loads of ambience. amazing song. 5. All I Need - 3:48 great fuzzy synth bass sound, love the texture and the contrast with higher synths and production effects. the melodies are awesome, the instrumentation is on point, the vocals are super consistent and deliver exactly what the song needs, no more no less. the build up is amazing and epic, dramatic and intriguing. great songwriting, production and mixing. this is all I need to say. 6. Faust Arp - 2:09 the free/broken-rhythm nature of the vocal lines is something I really appreciate on this track, and the amazing orchestration and balanced mix just help make the point of how amazingly well this was written. such a great display of good songwriting. i love the strings and how well the acoustic guitars complement the arrangement. reminds me of nick drake. 7. Reckoner - 4:50 very melancholy track with cool vocal harmonies and motifs. this one opens with a super wide and really greating sounding drums, soon to be accompanied by a mellow and warm guitar riff that feels new and familiar at the same time. when the piano starst playing, the song gains a lot of depth and suddenly grows more powerful. the weird percussion elements add to the vast/diverse texture showroom and suddenly with are provided a break from all this to contemplate the emotionally charged vocals under the spotlight, with the rhythm following along, but soon to be greeted with this sublime ans brilliant string orchestration, that soon leaves you desperately forlorn and wistful, but soon return with the wide beats. after this beautiful sonic reconciliation we are rewarded with a final moment of beauty with a fresh chord progression that slowly fades away, in a - for a lack of a better word should I say - “hopeful” manner. 8. House Of Cards - 5:28 minimalistic intro riff that slowly develops with several layers of instrumentation that keep building up one by one, and slowly incrementing this house of cards. the song feels so sparse and wide that it almost feels like there’s no strong winds to challenge it. actually, I can’t help but feel like the whole arrangement is floating in outer space. forget about your house of cards, fall off the table and get swept under. great mixing and production. 9. Jigsaw Falling Into Place - 4:08 this song has a strange power to keep me super locked in as it goes, almost as if I become a little piece of a puzzle, that slowly falls into place, but unsure about the whole picture all along the way. I love the drums, bass, synths, acoustic guitar riffs, the whole isntrumentation. the vocal delivery is superb. the eerie backing vocals locked in with the lead synths are super cool. outstanding track. 10. Videotape - 4:39 I have always loved this song. I think it was one of the first radiohead songs I’ve heard and the rhythmical illusion thing is something that always intrigued me and drove me into looking deeper and deeper through the many mysteries of music theory, and that has always been something very important in my life. I have listened to this album many times, and this song being the closing track is not only fitting, it is almost a requirement of some sorts. I can’t really explain much of what I think or feel about radiohead, their songs and this album in particular, but I feel deeply comforted by the fact that it was never really the point. the song has a voice for itself, and it sings all the deep feeling and thoughts I can’t managed to put into words, and it resonates to the very core. great ending to a great album.
First 5! This album is not without flaws, but I think the sum of its parts is greater than the individual components. The songs I did like I liked A LOT and the ones I didn't were mostly not my taste and not bad songs. Great album, I should just buy it in Vinyl already. 15 Step - Love the drum machine! The reverb when they say "15 steps, then a sheer drop" is so powerful. I love how the bass feels like it's tying it all together. Amazing song. ♡ Bodysnatchers - What is this guitar tone!! When the additional guitars kick in it's just so goooood. Also the lyrics! Nude - I'm a sucker for instruments played backwards. The ambientation is really good and matches the lyrics. Not my type of song, though. If the whole song was more like the ending my opinion would be different. ♡ Weird Fishes/ Arpeggi - The intro alone is enough to make me love it. The constant guitars giving the feeling of being afloat/mesmerized are amazing. I love music that All I Need - Interesting song, even if I don't particularly enjoyed it. The ambient intro is pretty cool. ♡ Faust Harp - So many interesting ideas in such a simple guitar harmony! The odd metrics when he sings something thrice, the strings at the end, the entire sense of disconnection from the lyrics. Amazing new find! Reckoner - Good arrangement, specially with how the subtle string section fills in the empty spaces in the mix. Not a big fan of the falsetto here, though. House Of Cards - Feels like an entire new genre. The lyrics are kinda weird and the song feels a bit too pop for my taste. There are many cool embellishments in the mix, but I dislike the amount of Reverb in York's voice. ♡ Jigsaw Falling Into Place - Best song in the album. Makes you wanna pick up your guitar and play it. The crescendo until the song finally reaches its climax is so perfectly paced. It feels raw in its energy yet extremely polished in execution. Masterpiece. Videotape - A more minimalist piece, it feels like saying goodbye to the album. A nice way to wrap up. The syncopated percussion jump scare at the halfway mark was interesting.
Exceptional album. Radiohead are one of the best in the game.
10/10 just a superb album that flows with their unique style and inventiveness. A must have.
Amazing
perfect album in my opinion
One of the best albums ever made
All albums by Radiohead are 5/5
I really enjoyed this. The beats are snappy and groovy, the guitar is a bit jazzy on some tracks and driving on others, the vocals are mellow and passionate, the bass is prominent, melodic and rich, and the arrangements feels like they go somewhere, build up nicely with some cool electronic soundscapes on the way. They're as experimental and spacey as ever, but lacking the indulgence of the preceding albums. A mighty fine return to form; I would say it's on a par with the majestic OK Computer from a decade earlier. Superb stuff, (and the cover artwork works nicely with the music).
One of the best albums of all time brings a tearvto my eye. In its way i think maybe this could be their best one one in resolves the tension netween ok computer and kid A.
Sublime songs with witty lyrics (as usual Thom could enunciate better, but I guess that's, "his thing"). Really nicely produced, with all those intricate drum patterns, whooshy guitars and electronic layers. Slightly dark, slightly catchy. I love it.
Outstanding!!! The 2nd disk has many great songs, my favorite: Dead Flowers
This is without a doubt Radiohead's best album and probably the only one I care to listen to front to back. I love the frantic drumming that opens the album on "15 Step". "Nude" gives me chills. "Weird Fishes / Arpeggi" and "All I Need" are perfectly moody, atmospheric tracks to follow it - "All I Need" is one of my favorites on this album. This run of three songs is close enough to perfect for me. I love the harmonies on "Reckoner" and the simplicity of "House of Cards". "Videotape" is a beautiful closing track. Also, side note, I distinctly remember when this album came out (I think this is the first entry on the list I can say this about?) and how exciting and novel it was that a band this popular would make their music available for free. That was cool of them to do. Anyway, I really love this album. I stuggle to find fault with it. It's all the best parts of Radiohead and none of the worst parts. It's also very well edited - if you listen to Disk 2, you'll find 30 minutes of recordings that died on the cutting room floor for 'In Rainbows', and while there is a lot of good material there, the final album is better for their omission. It is complete and succinct with total artistic clarity. I'm generally not a huge Radiohead fan, but yeah. This album rules. 9/10
Day 11: In Rainbows - Radiohead. Radiohead is the music lover's band. If you look at nearly any community of music lovers, chances are that it will be flooded by Radiohead fans. In fact, you don't even need to look further than 1,001 Albums Generator itself; if you look at the statistics of the Radiohead albums on here, you should see very high ratings for them. Fourteen different users chose Radiohead albums as their favourite albums from the entire project. That is pretty bloody impressive. Every track on this album has been crafted to perfection. They play with various aspects of music theory, and manage to make it sound very simple, and extremely enjoyable. Heartfelt. Emotional. Melancholic. There isn't much to not love about Radiohead's music. This album features a lot of iconic songs, and Radiohead is an influential band. I would say that their sound could be easily appealing to people of all ages; there are young children who are Radiohead fans, as well as senior citizens who are Radiohead fans. Here's a set of five stars. Personal Enjoyment: 5/5. How Much It Belongs Here: 5/5.
Interesting sales model, great sound with Radiohead's always evolving sound.
Phenomenal record, one that I'd gladly listen to again and again.
In Rainbows is such an awesome album. I’ve typically turned to OK Computer and Kid A when craving Radiohead, but I think this has to enter the rotation at this point. Another masterpiece.
Chill record, I still like Kid A more.
one of my favorite albums of all time I could listen to it forever and never get tired
Absolute fucking gas
BEST ALBUM EVER 10/10
So good!
A fine addition to Radiohead’s continual transformational entries into the world of rock/pop/electronic music. This is probably the album I go back to the most because it does such a good job of getting you lost in its tracks, and in this case, I don’t care to be found.
Radiohead belongs to that rarest tier of band where multiple albums could legitimately be called their masterpiece: In Rainbows is the one for me, striking a perfect balance between experimentation and intimacy that continues to evolve since the magic moment it first entered my life.
In my top 3 favorite albums ever made, true perfection.
Another all time classic I have already listened to.

Very fond of this album. Many memories of listening to it on repeat when it first came out. Nude has one of my favorite guitar tones of all time.
interesti g songs not my favorite radiohead record but good
excellent, no weak tracks best tracks: Nude Jigsaw falling into place Reckoner 15 Step Faust Arp worst tracks all i need
Literally every single Radiohead album is an absolute masterpiece. 7/5
In Rainbows is a sonic masterpiece and one of the most sensational headphones albums I can reference.
Historically this is has always been a weaker entry by one of all time favourite bands, this time around it clicked more than previously, it still has its low points on a couple tracks. But it still has all i need on it, which might be my favourite song of all time, videotape is also beyond a Masterpiece in Deep and complex whilst managing to sound astonishingly simple. 9/10 Fav tracks - All -2 Least fav - 15 Step, House of Cards
One of my favorite albums of all time. Weird Fishies

Initial thought: Hell yes! I adore this album, I adore this band. I honestly don't know what I'm going to be able to say after listening - it's a 5 star banger. I mean, that’s it. That’s the review. An all timer. It’s perfection.
One of my favorite Radiohead albums. I used to listen to From the Basement set many times. The melancholic tracks like Nude, Reckoner, and Videotape really hit differently. The way the slow crescendos construct this overwhelming, yet beautiful atmosphere with strings, synths (in the case of Nude and Reckoner) or piano plus complex and ever-increasing druming patterns (Videotape) blows my mind every time. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi is probably one of my favorite tracks of all time. The base line, the lead guitar in the first part, and then the mood shift with Thom's deep voice - I could go on and on. The more pulsing and dare I say upbeat tracks such as Jigsaw Falling Into Places or 15 Step are a great change of pace to give the album variety, yet retain the cohesion. Standout Tracks: Weird Fishes/Arpeggi, Videotape, Nude, Faust Arp P. S. Disk 2 is also worth a listen, esp. Last Flowers To The Hospital.
Unexpected. Dreamy guitars, makes you float. Interesting lyrics in some songs, like the "15 steps". "Nude" hit a string with lyrics like: Don't get any big ideas They're not gonna happen "Weird Fishes/Arppegi" had some sad lyrics. "Jigsaw Falling Into Place" describes so well that feeling of partying, and getting drunk and just blacking out, it's scary. "Videotape" was so eery. And depressing, but beautiful. Is it about someone passing away? Or someone who suicided? The death of a loved one?
This album is a treasure-trove of soundscapes. Each member is at their best on this album. It truly is one of their best.
Top 3 Radiohead and still underrated despite garnering some well-deserved acclaim in recent times. It's a testament to the incredible artistic ingenuity of each member of this band that they were able to reinvent themselves and create another monumental masterpiece so deep into their careers after having already made such monuments that OK Computer and Kid A are. This album sees the band at their most emotional and vulnerable yet - the aforementioned classics are notorious for their lethargic and alien atmosphere which In Rainbows abandons for a more inviting and resonant sound. It is an album equivalent of a drunken 3AM hangout with your closest friends - it has you dealing with some of the most intimate and difficult thoughts and feelings but it holds your hand through it and lets you know you're not alone in whatever's going on. It's the most down to earth and relatable Radiohead record, stripped from any kind of heady concept or weird experimentation. It's immediate, warm, sensual, gentle, touching and you will need some tissues by your side if you truly let it speak to you. I still think that OKC and Kid A are better records but by a very slight margin and honestly, it depends on a day when it comes to which one I favor the most. It certainly is a must hear record, it sounds like nothing else and it redefines the boundaries of rock music yet again, as Radiohead does habitually at this point.
In Rainbows finally helps me understand people's obsession with Radiohead. It's a great album with some really interesting songs. While I can see how it sounds a little samey, the more you listen to it, the more respect and admiration you have for each individual song. There aren't really any weak songs here. While In Rainbows isn't perfect, it borders on a 5/5 for me. Best Songs: Bodysnatchers, Weird Fishes, Jigsaw Falling Into Place Worst Songs: NA
For reasons known only to me I was a big early Radiohead fan in the Pablo Honey era then really went off them - even to the point where I was one of the few people at Glastonbury in 97 and 2003 not to see their seminal gigs. "In Rainbows" was the my first step back to reappraising them and realizing that i had been a dick - with "Reckoner" being one of my favourite tunes of all time (for some reason I think its about the Sopranos). Great album.
Here take my five, I am done with being depressed for today. Thank Radiohead
I unabashedly love this album. I remember when they released it as "pay what you want" -- which was unheard of at the time. I wasn't a huge Radiohead fan at the time, but I figured for a couple of bucks, why not? And then came that awesome opening to "15 Step." Moody, melodic, mysterious. And it's cool as hell that you can alternate tracks between this and OK Computer (skipping Fitter, Happier & Climbing up the Walls) and come up with a damned interesting playlist that crossfades perfectly. To wit: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/30MHTK5Je56cN8ug5R8jIy?si=28c712afc4c94909
I find the almost universal love/hate for Radiohead fascinating - especially this, surely one of their most accessible albums. I'm sure it demonstrates something about the way we process sound. Anyway, this album was free (or a few grand if you felt generous) so obviously gets five stars.
Radiohead get a 5 in my book every time.
Noter fra første lytning: Gåsehud efter 5 minutter. 1.
An exquisite album that still somehow gets better with every listen - the production is just so rich and detailed, and the songs worm their way into your soul. Ok Computer is still my favourite Radiohead album but this is probably the one I revisit the most
THE BEST ALBUM EVER MADE!!!
Very good album. I like most songs. Not sure if it’s an album I will go back to often, but I can understand why it is well received. Not sure if it’s #3 album ever per Rate Your Music.
the happiest radiohead album somehow heard jigsaw falling into places before 15 steps and bodysnacher is some other tracks good for me to dance to weird fishes makes me twirl around like a fish and has a tense ending there are beautiful moments like nude and depressing tracks like all i need and videotape they all goes extra hard for me 5/5
This album is a more more subtle, orchestrated Kid A for me. Loved it. Rich, vibrant soundscapes. I knew Weird Fishes and Jigsaw going into it. Was pleasantly surprised by the rest of it. I’m gonna try listening to it while alternating between it and OK Computer. Standouts: everything.
One of my faves
This is the (my) Perfect Album. Not the Radiohead album where you'd find another Creep or Karma Police - no "hits" here but this is a genuine album that works best when seen as a single work or Art, surpassing the attraction of single (even the best) song. The balance between conserving this coherence from start to finish, yet also having a unique sound signature to each song, is perfect. The soundscapes (no vanity solos here) strengthen the lyrics and the whole album feels very emotional in a warm very human sense. The lyrics are never cheap but also not so arty-farty that nobody actually understands them. Great balance, again. I especially like the way how the album is made so well musically (great breakbeats, guitar work etc.) yet flows so effortlessly. This is one of the few albums that I'd both call great art, and also just sounds amazing. 106 albums into the list, this is the first I'd give a 6 if I could. Genius.
i mean come on lol. imagine my shock when i discovered that radiohead are, in fact, just as good as everyone has always claimed. something i love about this album is that it’s not super guitar-focused—i LOVE how the bass and the drums get brought to fore in so many of the songs. it’s crazzzzyyyy that weird fishes is a human drummer (s/o phil) and not a drum machine how tf does he do that…and dear colin’s bass adds so much depth to the tracks, i like that his entry is often delayed so it’s really noticeable when the bass comes in and then the song kicks into gear. obviously i’m mad at thom and jonny so i don’t wanna talk about them but they are so good….weird fishes and all i need are some of thom’s best lyrics i think….fuck it actually the run from weird fishes to jigsaw is just absolutely gutwrenching unbearably beautiful. BLAH. fav tracks: all of them except bodysnatchers and videotape and sometimes nude. but depending on my mood i like those too.
Radiohead is unfortunately one of those bands where all the annoying people who insist that they’re geniuses are actually right. You hear about how they’re soooo amazing and revolutionary and genre-defying and genre-defining and you figure there’s no way they’re actually worth the hype and then one day you finally listen to them and you’re like Oh. However I’m happy to admit to the mistake of having not listened sooner because a) I would’ve been the most unbearable person on earth if I’d gotten into them as a teenager, and b) I get to benefit from hearing this beautiful eerie music whose complexity and detail always kind of blow my mind as if it’s the first time I’ve ever heard music. But like seriously how did they come up with all that though… *Best tracks: 15 Step, Weird Fishes / Arpeggi, Faust Arp, Reckoner, Jigsaw Falling Into Place*
pretty much the definition of a modern classic. played the hell out of this when it came out and it still sounds fresh. trop bien
"In Rainbows", do Radiohead, é um álbum sublime.
i love this album so much, one of radioheads greatest
Scarily close to perfection. Radiohead have quite a few excellent concept albums but 'In Rainbows' is "just" an album and arguably does it better than anything else released in the 21st century. '15 Step' opens the record with a frenetic and slightly glitchy cut. This song is about as fiery as 'In Rainbows' gets but it certainly gets things rolling in style. Nude and Weird Fishes are two truly affecting gems, one of these on a record would more than suffice but to have these two back-to-back so early on in the piece is a real statement. The high standard carries through the rest of the way, too. 'All I Need' makes it three moving pieces of high-concept art in a row, while 'Reckoner' is a career highlight. There are very few "nits to pick", perhaps you could say that in terms of overall listening enjoyment, 'In Rainbows' is a bit front-loaded. The truth is, though, that even most of the songs on the b-side of this album are not easily forgotten. 'In Rainbows' is my pick (and many others are also of this opinion) for Radiohead's best. Overall Score: 9.4/10 Top 3: 1. Nude 2. Weird Fishes 3. Reckoner/15 Step - truly can't split them! Bottom 1: Faust Arp (a little short of being fully fleshed out)
One of the greatest
Perfect record. Listen to this straight through. Then the dissect podcast. Then the super album of this combined with ok computer. No notes.
Fantastic album from Radiohead and arguably the first of their “vibe” albums, which would become their signature sound as a band untethered from major label demands; under produced jazz like drum sounds, dry arpeggiated guitars in weird time signatures and Thom Torke’s reverbated smear picking out a vague but compelling narrative. If I have one complaint it is over the mixing and production choices, which I feel don’t always completely maximise the potential of the songwriting, but most of this is entirely deliberate to be fair to Radiohead; an intentional step away from both tidy rock anthems and cold electronica, and an embracing of a looser, more stripped down skifflish sound. So whilst In Rainbows lacks the focused songwriting muscle of OK Computer and the conceptual, muted beauty of Kid A, it comes a very respectable third in my Radiohead rankings.
Top 5 easy
Right now feels surreal. I think I should get some sleep. This album is pretty good though, so fundamentally different from OK Computer. So different but everything makes sense together. Peak minimalism. 100 emoji Fav Songs: Nude, Weird Fishes, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, Reckoner
5/5 weird change at midpoint of the album but we absolutely vibe with it
Took me a while to warm to this as my flatmate played it until I hated it. I have come to realise this is their greatest work. Saw Thom solo just 2 nights ago, what an absolute treat that was. Man has moves.
Fooking yes!!!!!!!
Pay-what-you-want is iconic and something that would not work anymore. I'm always down for more Radiohead. This is a solid 5*, especially on a rainy morning. Highlights: weird fishes/arpeggi, the rhythm of 15 step, bodysnatchers, jigsaw falling into place
sublime
On most days my favorite Radiohead album. Bodysnatchers is bad, Faust Arp and Videotape are fine, but the remaining 7 songs are some of their best
The issue I have with Radiohead, is mostly the same issue I have with Tool and Rush. It's the fans who sing the gospel of their favourite band and won't listen to any dissenting voice. So I'll leave most of the review of this album to those who already came before this and have written entire paragraphs. And as much the fans annoy me and as much as Tom Yorke is a pretentious git, I must admit that this album is a masterpiece.
This is already my fave Radiohead album
One of my all time favorites
i overrated amnesiac here, should have given it a 4. with that said, this one is absolutely a 5, imo the best radiohead album, maybe drawing with okc. favorite tracks: nude, jigsaw, 15 step
好听
Great album! Love Thom's voice. It's so smooth and gorgeous. Who doesn't love some Radiohead?
i can’t even begin to describe how much i love this album and how special this album is to me like it’s so good i can’t even omg it’s insane how every single song on this album is just a banger after banger, the only one for me personally that i’ve never LOVED is house of cards but even then it’s still good, like it’s just phenomenal and addicting to listen to
Pre-listening thoughts: out of all the Radiohead albums, this is the one I am the most excited for by far. I have heard a few songs from it and I think it’s Radiohead at their most unique. Maybe I wouldn’t have quit my challenge a year ago if this was the Radiohead album that I got. But why is Radiohead our first repeat artist 😭😭 a) I thought it would be Bowie and b) I thought we would make it through 100 albums before getting a repeat artist Post/during listening thoughts: this is unlike any Radiohead that has come before or would come after. It toys with its time signatures, the instrumentation is so playful but also purposeful, Thom Yorke sounds decent??? It’s got a slight pop influence to it but it’s really got this dreamy rock sound and I kind of love it???? Am I a soy boy beta cuck for enjoying Radiohead twice 😭 9.5/10 (Radiohead will never see a full 10 from me. I have to have some dignity) DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: ????! Fav tracks: this might be a no skip album… oh no Least fav tracks:
Since The Bends, Radiohead albums have been near universally excellent. This is no exception and an easy 5.
goat
No misses on this album. Loved 15 Step, Jigsaw Falling Into Place, and Videotape
One of the greatest of all time.
10/10
Yorke is a genius and you can't convince me otherwise
One of my favourite albums of all time. It's just fabulous.
Don’t know many Radiohead songs, although I am familiar. This was great right off the bat, ‘15 step’ grabs your interest with the unique time signature. Great production, great layering of sounds, ambiance.. really nice album! Certainly owe them a dive into their catalog - I’ve been missing out
An all-time favorite. One of the tightest albums I’ve ever heard in terms of both production and performance; so smooth, crisp, and clean. It’s not perfect—I can take or leave Faust Arp and even Videotape—but to me this is Radiohead near the top of their game, fusing the mope-rock of their 90s with the electronic experiments of their 2000s to excellent effect. Best song: Jigsaw Falling Into Place
Possibly their best album - love it
This album was absolutely brilliant It was moving and so atmospheric
Love the way this album weaves between minimalism and swelling rock songs. Videotape is the perfect closing song.
My favorite Radiohead album.
Literally my favorite album of all time. Every song is a 5/5 and they are even better together.
A favorite of mine
loved!
Nothing less than the best album ever recorded. And yes, I have listened to every album ever recorded.
I wouldnt say I’m much of a Radiohead fan I am however, an In Rainbows fan
Screaming crying throwing up This album changed my life when I first heard this age 17 I love Thom Yorke’s weird vocals 15 step #twilight Every song is 10/10 luv
Fabulous
Great album and vastly different from The Bends. It was a lot more upbeat and colorful, but also had some slower songs in there. 'Bodysnatchers' was a highlight for me. I also liked 'Jigsaws falling into place'.
