i would love to love this but a lot of the songs feel very samesy which isn’t a knock to its quality, but it makes listening to the whole record uninterrupted a little tiring.
the drum fills on the end of this record automatically give it a 5. bill ward is a beast.
liked the back half better and added some to my library!
loved the use of real instruments and samples on this record. super unique sound and super catchy beats and melodies!
this one is really not for me. i couldn’t connect with the music at all and i’ve never been a fan of the talk singing people from this period used. sorry i know it’s a classic, but it’s not for me.
the drums are just phenomenal on this record oh my god
just an absolute waste of time
god the drums on this one
couldn’t finish. this is too 80s for me and it sounds like discount michael jackson
it’s a good album with great production. it’s hard to separate the art from the artist here though given what we know about kanye now. will not listen to this again but happy i did a full listen at least once on my own.
la grange makes this whole album worth a listen honestly
this sounds like a great album to listen to while high on shrooms — and i mean that in the best way possible. it’s a little too long for me but it’s a great album
wish i could give half stars — 3.5 for me on this one. really dug some songs but felt that the songs didn’t warrant their length. long intros on every song can be a little played out
80s music just has never appealed to me. titular track is a banger of course tho
i honestly couldn’t finish this. so boring and repetitive. each song is long too
gets kinda repetitive but overall a fun time!
not really my vibe, but i’m sure the lyrics are meaningful to someone!
liked this better than i thought i would but still not really my vibe. i probably wouldn’t listen again
it’s good if i’m in the right mood. but prog rock is usually not for me
drums are fully in the pocket here but the long talking bouts bring this album down for me
not for me. i like long songs but not for 5 consecutive songs
really not for me. too meandering and doesn’t seem to have a purpose to me
groove is in the heart is just too good of a song
drums on this are pretty sick, but i hate the singer’s voice
marc bolan is just not for me
feels a little repetitive after a bit but pretty decent!
liked some songs on this one and reminds me a bit of steely dan.
a legendary album by a legendary artist
the sound doesn’t appeal to me. snare sound is very 80s and morrissey’s voice just really doesn’t do it for me. his lyrics also don’t really resonate with me. i get why the smiths were so influential but personally it doesn’t scratch the music itch for me.
super salsa-y. really dug the vibe on this one. don’t think it’ll go on my main rotation, but i liked this album.
some fun tracks on this one. alright is a classic song at this point — it’s a much better song than that one FUN. song. that being said, i don’t see this getting out in regular rotation for me.
once again, i get the importance of this album, but the sound doesn’t appeal to me. t. rex is a glam rock icon though and for that this album deserves all the praise it’s gotten.
a bunch of classics on this record. feels very sames-ey after a while, but overall it’s a good album.
vocals are insane on this record. i dog the music too. it blends a lot of different genres with a heavy rock twist. love the slower tracks on here too.
pretty good listen. they’re so clearly amazing musicians and i love the blues they’re rocking out to. the drums are just insane on this record too.
pretty good but not necessarily my jam. the singer’s voice can get kinda grating after awhile. gold soundz is a certified classic tho i have to say.
Least favorite tracks: bailed out, home again
i’ll be honest — i wasn’t really listening to this. mostly had it on the background and it really didn’t speak to me. i can’t with the vocals — just too nasally and whiney for my taste.
just a very solid album and an amazing debut for a band. free bird is legendary and always a bop to listen to
love the production on this one. would definitely want this album in my vinyl collection.
really wanted to like this but it’s just okay. a cover song was my favorite on the record and that’s not a good sign!
great album. it reminds me of chris cornell’s solo debut and i mean that in all the best ways. so many iconic tracks and the lyricism on this record are just so raw.
fav tracks: forgiven, you outta know, ironic
i’ve been so wrong about the police. this album was pretty amazing and stewart copeland is just SUCH a beast on the kit. definitely feel inspired to work on my drum chops because of this record.
listened to this album before and it’s a classic. so many iconic tracks. the edge’s guitar tones are so ethereal and amazing and bono’s voice of course is phenomenal. drums on this are so interesting as well. lyricism is amazing as always too. i will say, side A is much stronger to me than side B but overall i love this record.
lots of these songs sound vaguely familiar to me for some reason. not my favorite, but i do like disco 2000.
i hate that this album is really great given kanye being a total asshole, but props need to be given to him for making a really amazing album. production on this one is insane.
it’s the beatles man! what’s there not to love?
very solid. i think i prefer aja and can’t buy a thrill, but steely dan rarely disappoints.
not my jam really. black metal is cool, but i wouldn’t choose to listen to it.
not my favorite honestly. it’s fine tho!
it’s in rainbows. it’s a classic. all the tracks are amazing. the basement sessions are even better!
kind of a weird album with lots of middle eastern influence it seems.
pretty good. not much to say really.
wanted to like this more, but it felt very 2010s indie to me. not really my vibe
couldn’t really finish this. music was nice but didn’t draw me in.
only track i likes was detroit rock city. just really not for me. surprised this came out in the 70s because it sounds so 80s and KISS definitely pioneered that genre.
a classic album for sure but lyrically i wasn’t the biggest fan of a majority of the tracks
i hate this kind of singing. i’m sorry but i couldn’t get passed the first two tracks.
i like this, but man is it long. some of the songs felt like they dragged a bit for me. i love the hits on this record though. isn’t she lovely is such a good song!
i just can’t get into grindcore
such a sad breakup album. reminds me of grace by jeff buckly. very subdued and deserving of dissecting of its lyrical contents. the music is subdued as well compared to the hits i’ve heard from beck as well. would love to revisit this when i’m in the headspace for it.
didn’t finish this one. wasn’t really my vibe
pretty good but not my favorite
love love love this record. ❤️ dave playing all the instruments.
i preferred the other record from this group more than this one. felt a little meandering to me personally.
i feel like i’ve been transported to texas with this kind of music and honestly i’m here for it.
really not for me. couldn’t finish it or even go passed the first two tracks.
love this record. brings me back to my high school days. the production is lush and the lyricism is just gorgeous.
liked some songs on this, but overall not my favorite of the morrissey records i listened to
this is a no skip album. it’s insane the musicianship on this record. john bonham had only been playing drums for 4 years at this point and he comes up with something like good times, bad times?? just insane. john bonham is one of my biggest influences, and dazed and confuses was one of the first songs i ever learned. been using bonham triplets ever since in my own playing.
this album is just insanely good to break out onto the scene with.
appreciate the musicianship here, but not really my vibe.
pretty solid. i can really hear some oasis in these tracks, but the verve have their own distinct sound at the same time.
not for me at all. sounds so 80s and not the kind of 80s music i lile
too long for my taste and i didn’t really vibe with most of the songs. unfortunately didn’t finish the record
i appreciate public enemy, but man listening to a whole album is very abrasive and fatiguing. i’ll stick to the hits probably.
not really my favorite. i can hear these songs playing in a rundown bar in texas tho haha
man i really love kingdom of rust but this one really reads like an imagine dragons record
i really did not like this. very theatrical in a musical theater kind of way. not my thing.
i hate the lyrical content in this album. maybe it’s cos i can’t relate, but i don’t think this is the kind of music for me. feels very victim mentality.
