It is offensive that the YouTube link for this excludes the movie clip from the beginning, and blanks out cocaine on the first track.
Not really my favorite, too pop-ie
I've heard Janice Joplin many times -- I never knew this band existed, and it was excellent. Particularly Summertime. She's got so much style!
Forgot how great this album is.
Secret song is stupid. Rest of the album is excellent.
I swear i've heard other funkadelic albums that i liked better
Surprised how little i liked this album. Sometimes Lou Reed/Velvet Underground really do it for me: perfect day, walk on the wild side, and rock & roll.
Very different than anything else i listen to, but also refreshing and cool.
I don't believe i've ever heard this before, unfortunately it sounds the same is a significant portion of music i've heard my entire life. Where i bet in the context of when it came out it'd have been maybe a bit different?
I'd probably give it a 5 stars if it had white room on it.
I never gave iron maiden a fair shake i guess. Run to the hills is excellent if depressing.
Really see the influence they had on nirvana's at least on cobain's singing style.
It'd be cool to know what made this different/special at the time. To me it sounds like most jazz i hear; which isn't all that much, and is probably the point. Easy on the ears, smooth.
Sort of expected sgt. peppers, the white album, or maybe rubber soul guess this one is definitive early beatles. It'd be great to know why this album was chosen, suppose you have to read the book for that.
Cool, to see the evolution of grangsta rap which i skipped until the tupac/wu-tang era
In my light googling i couldn't determine if the band was actually racist, or at least supported "old south", it seems like maybe, maybe not. I'm also not sure how that should effect ranking - yeah it's fucking awful. The music sounded good.
It'd Bob Dylan, one of the greatest. It should be 5 stars right? Nostalgia says yes, but when I relistened to this I just meh'd out.
Intense, very 80's style; more on the rock side than the pop or glam side i'm used to.
Reminds me of mercury rev (maybe mercury rev should remind me of this?)
Not Mutations.
I thought this was great at the time, on replay I didn't love it as much
Hotel California is excellent..... the rest didn't hold me
I wonder if i would have liked this if i didn't have some inkling about kanye.
I'm a huge pink floyd fan, but this album lacks what IMO makes PF great: meaningful lyrics
