For one night only Blues Deluxe Although probably not the first MJ album I think of, it’s arguably his best for me, and another (and final) whopper of a production from Quincy Jones. MJ has become something of a guilty pleasure, but his talent is undeniable. Full of awesome cameos, even having Martin Scorsese direct his Bad music video. Smooth Criminal Dirty Diana Liberian Girl The Way You Make Me Feel

Deluxe Blues, The Bluest Blues, it’s all about the Blues So What Blue in Green Freddie Freeloader All Blues In that order
Surprisingly enjoyed a lot of this album, love a bit of noise. Found that the quality peaked and dipped. However, some songs caught my attention. Zero Soft Shock Shame and Fortune Little Shadow

A head turning sound that must have been wild in the 80s, and just smacks you in the face with a wall of noise. I think this is the kind of album that needs more than one listen, on more than one format. Every song reminds me of Heroin, and I’d normally be down for that, but on this occasion it just didn’t hit. Taste the Floor Just Like Honey
This feels like something I’m supposed to like, but I don’t. Definitely something I’m glad I’ve listened to, but it’s not for me. Savane
First of all, what a cover, absolutely beautiful. The Zep are just so good, in the room and knocking on the door. This album could have just been Kashmir and I would have been happy. The guitar, the drums, the voice - hands down some the greatest in their respective roles at the height of their powers. Not my favourite Zep album but what a ride nonetheless. Kashmir The Rover The Wanton Song
What can I say, the final album that of the band that started the grunge revolution. Not many bands that stand on the same pedestal as Kurt and Dave, let alone Nirvana. There are some songs you could easily hate, you know what, I get it, fair enough. But the ones that hit are undeniable rock greats. I was gonna skip listening to this album another time but I thought, 24 carat baby, let’s go. Pennyroyal Tea All apologies Heart Shaped Box Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge on Seattle Dumb
Wowee this is a lot to take in right now. Groovy start, groovier build up, and then boom! City, Country, City. Why does the sax always sound so damn good. With that telling cover illustration, the colourful Rolls Royce, broken down, the grey and dreary scheme of the eponymous Ghetto, this album was always going somewhere. City, Country, City The Cisco Kid
I definitely don’t dislike this album, I just don’t really like it that much either. Sounds a lot like a musical to me, and I’m not a big musical fan. Some great lyrics, some lovely accompaniment, and a cool name to boot - I’d wonder if it is a reference to the portrait. Glad I’ve listened to it anyway. Love’s enough Another Friday Night
I’m going to try to avoid expletives here, this was just awful. It’s akin to a caricature of electronic music, Ross’ “The Sound” if you will. More or less nothing for me. I even looked it up it for some background, begging to award it some sort of pedigree, and have come to the inevitable conclusion that its only achievement seems to be making it onto this list. A genuine zero.
An absolute beaut of an album. Driving that southern rock hype of the 60/70s dead smack into the 90s with hit after hit after hit after hit. I don’t think one of these songs disappoints, and to make it even sweeter, it was their debut album. I’ll tell ya one thing, my money maker was shakin’ all over the shop. Extra credit for those in the know, Rick Rubin was a ghost producer until the album made it big. Twice as Hard Sister Luck Could I’ve Been so Blind Struttin’ Blues
I like the genre, liked the music, liked the ambience it created. Didn’t really enjoy the album for some reason though, I felt it was as lacking a certain bite and certainly left me wanting. The Cure are a funny one for me. I do like them, but never blown away. I thought M was very good. M
I didn’t enjoy this. Thought the subject matter and lyrics were a bit silly at parts. The beats were generally good and incorporated a bit of psychedelia which is always welcomed. Probably wouldn’t add this album to my collection. No standout song to be mentioned for me.
Had listened to Sparks once or twice before, and I’m a fan this Bowie/Bolan-esque approach to album making. Was looking forward giving it a go. I was fairly saddened it disappointed, I particularly found the vocals jarring and somewhat annoying. The guitar is phenomenal throughout the album, catching my attention immediately in the first track. John Frusciante cites Fisher’s as a key influence for his style on By the Way, so I’ve gotta give credit where it’s due there. I like the cover too, gives off that instant glam rock vibe akin to Roxy Music’s eponymous debut or Bowie’s pin-ups, which would have been contemporaries. This Town Ain’t Big Enough for Both of Us
Damn, some pipes on Adele. Okay, so I’m a hater, sop-pop is garbage, no one can change my mind. I thought this list was made in 2005 so was surprised to see Adele’s mug staring into my soul first thing in the morning. That’s my take anyway, but 50,000,000 Elvis fans can’t be wrong. This album and these songs were on everyone’s ears and everyone’s mouths growing up, a massive impact on the charts gan dabht. I didn’t absolutely hate it, just does nothing. The backing music in the finale, The Sweetest Devotion, was pretty sweet. A Million Years Ago

A steaming hot pile of garbage.
I really enjoyed this, kind of like if Metallica and Joy Division had a love child. Solid listen, reckon I wouldn’t give it another whack as no massive standout.
I feel that I’d normally enjoy an album like this. Found it a bit of a yawn fest yesterday, couldn’t get myself invested in the lyrics, which were clearly the driving force of this album.
This was an enjoyable listen, nothing more nothing less.
Big bearded hot rods. Nothing but love for ZZ top. Short and sweet, the three men and their Texas blues for 30 minutes, what’s not to enjoy. Waiting for the bus Precious and Grace La Grange
A fun enough album, nothing to write home about, so yeah
Didn’t really resonate with me, guess it wasn’t supposed to. Regardless, I enjoyed some classic songs, great beats, and that nonchalant delivery of dark subject matter that only Biggie could achieve.
Ginger Baker! Unreal! Took me until the midway point to really get into it. Then carry me and the final drum solo really took it home for me. Bravo
Look, Would I myself a Prince fan? Yes of course. Did I enjoy this album? No not quite. Took a bit of effort to really slog through it, I did really like Slow Love and The Cross though.
Yeah this was good. Never really listened to Bon Jovi, I enjoyed it, hasn’t sparked any interest in perusing more of their stuff but maybe I’ll warm to them more in the future. Obviously a few bangers in there.
Finally another 5/5 album. The first one I’d go to from Young’s collection.
The Beatles
Ah what I can say. I actually have such a soft spot for Kraftwerk, despite my tendencies. The model is a great song, pioneers of their field.
I think is album is just swell. Mikes from nowhere was revelation this listen around. Someone commented ’you can learn about 90% of what it means to be a good person simply by listening to Cat Stevens songs’, and that strikes a chord for me.
Such a nice album, could have given 5 if it caught me in the right mood.
Not the worst album in the world. Not really much to right home about. I liked Man Out of Time and Almost Blue.
Out of all the Radiohead albums this is probably my fifth favourite, would doesn’t seem great until you think about how good a set of studio albums they have.
This was a revelation. Why’d I like it so much, beats me.
Dire Straits just ooze class, more than just one album.
Going to California, slaps
Chewing gum commercial music
A pretty good album, reckon I wouldn’t go back to it but it was provocative
Started so strongly, really like the old Kanye, then dragged a bit towards the end. Some bangers in there though.
I really liked Suzanne and So Long, Marianne. But I couldn’t say much about the album as a whole.
Bad moon rising has undoubtedly become a classic song in every musicians repertoire. Certainly a more accessible CCR album, can become a bit repetitive with riffs in parts.
Classic britpop, 4 stars for common people alone
Awesome, just bloody awesome. What a way to hear the changing of the guard.
Meh, good enough album, wasn’t enthralled
Merry Clayton, Gimme Shelter - it’s all there
Pretty awesome, can’t you hear me knocking is the bees knees.
Bit of a long slog that one, Gorillaz ain’t the animal Blur was
I love the Kinks, and had heard plenty about this album, sad to be disappointed
So much fun, so underrated, drums for days, Armstrong doesn’t have the my favourite voice going but it’s solid
The King, for such a great artist, I don’t like a lot of his studio album, but this one is just golden
The King, can’t really argue with why this album sold so well, bop after bop
A lot of fun, music I like, just nothing super memorable for me
Too long to get to the good stuff, and the bonus tracks were better. 2 stars for quality -3 for waffle
It was different anyway
A bit more fun
Not bad just not riveting
I wanted to start listening to Rod, and what a revelation
Jaysus
5/5 instrumentals 1/5 Vocals
Kinda like Blondie but not Blondie
So poor, except maybe It’s Like That
That’s enough Blur
Severely written off Young album
Another unnecessary addition, but not a bad album
Evil Muppets music
Some would say it’s his best album
That was cool
“Turn off this heavy shit”
I could’ve given this 3 Innervisions and Key of Life is probably enough for the sake of this list
I really liked the start of this but it really dragged
This is my favourite Miles Davis album, shoot me
What happened to Coldplay
This is probably the most cacophonous music that I like
Funny how one song can you take you back
Had me in the first half
I tried so hard to like this
