Reviews (page 8 of 8)
this album is forgettably bad and i don't get why it's in this collection
Every single song has some in incessant hissing noise, which continues throughout the entire album. It MIGHT get 2 stars if it didn't have that annoying sound, but alas, I really hate it.
no never again
This whole album sounds like the beginning of an acid trip going bad. I listen to some weird stuff, but this…this was out there. Loved the 4 minutes of him just saying “oh girl” and moaning over the same 2 chords. Frankie Teardrop was unnecessarily unsettling…but let’s hear it for Frankie James if you read reviews, these are the most moonsounds like lyrics I’ve heard.

This was horrible
This was very innovative for 1977. And I can certainly see how this would have influenced many different genres going into the 80's. But innovative and influential doesn't mean, in and of itself, that it's any good.
OMG, No.
All songs looks the same, really boring band
For the first 10 seconds of Ghost Rider, I thought maybe this could be a decent album. Nope. Monotonous and boring, the tracks are basically spoken tracks over repetitive sound effects. Of the total 32 minutes for the album, over 10 minutes are dedicated to Frankie Teardrop. I couldn’t help but laugh at how stupid the song was. “Oh Frankie Frankie…oh Frankie Frankie!” … 2 min of repetitive whirring sounds… scream into the mic.
For my listening pleasure, the computer says “Nope!”
Maybe I was not in the right mood for this, but this was pretty awful. I started writing this before I got to Frankie's Teardrop and then Wow. I can understand how this is influential to a lot of things I do like, but this was still terrible. Songs to Add to Library None
Rasping, discordant and brutal so a very limited outlet.
Nope, not for me
Afschuwelijk!
Alt 70s rock Girl was mad funny
Didn't enjoy this at all.
hahaha ok this was terrible. Most of it sounded like a CD skipping while someone mumbled over the top.... until he started yelling over the top instead. 1/5.
Opening riff sounded really promising, hard-driving beat with lots of heavy distortion. Unfortunately that doesn't set the correct tone for what's to come, you're going to get some weird goth/artsy singing with proto-industrial electronic beats in the background. Was prepared to give this a 2 after the first couple of songs, not my thing but I liked the beats and for being ahead of it's time. Then "Girl" and "Frankie Teardrop" happened. Utter garbage, making weird orgasm noises and then the next song just saying "this guy killed a baby and his wife" then screaming for 7 minutes. Waste of time, if you're reading reviews before starting just skip this one, it's that bad.
Aptly named.
Terrible crap
Punk-rock electrónico. Ruido. No me ha gustado nada. Un 1.
Finally! An album and band whose name shares the same sentiment a listener feels after listening to it. How does stuff like this even crack the 1001 list? Horrible, basically just spoken word. 2/10
Aptly named
Shame you can’t give a 0 rating. Genuinely one of the worst things I’ve ever heard. The only list this should be on is 1001 awful rackets to subject terrorists to.
Shite
No, no, nope. Don't like it.
A bad bad album, with the worst song ever released. Frankie Teardrop can fuck off.
Dark, nobody wants to listen to this.
Reckon it is on here because it pursues an idea ahead of it's time. But it is doesn't compare to other electronics or what is about to emerge with Joy Division. It is the shortest album I have reviewed at 32 mins and this is already 7 mins too long with the shocking track that is Frankie. Lyrics exceptionally weak all round. Cover art 4/5
couldn't get through the whole thing
Hi- Rocket USA Lo- Girl, Frankie Teardrop Feels like the roots of bands like Joy Division and other industrial acts; I can hear a lot of influences in modern music...with dark and brooding late 70's synth and electric drums. It's hideously experimental; the vocalist doesn't really sing, but rather blurts (and sometimes screams) unstructured beat poetry, trying to tell some story. Girl is just repetitive and way too long for a song that doesn't really progress....but then you get to Frankie Teardrop...I don't really call this music but some kind of interpretive performance art. Most of the tracks on this album just meander and it's unpleasant to listen to.
There's a reason for the name... if you've never contemplated suicide, after hearing this...
Not a good album
3/10, dated, flat, uninspiring. May have been groundbreaking in '77, but sounds flat to '22 ears. Some good concepts, but not utilized well. this album may be a grower, but it's sure not a shower.
HUGE pass. Barely made it through the first song "GhostRider" without feeling like i'm dizzy due to the static instrumental.
Really weird album. Nothing noteworthy really about this. It felt like an emo album that tried to be edgy except it was from the 70s. Barely made it through the first time around. 1.9/10
לא שמעתי הכל לא אהבתי
Hat garbage.
No
No puedes simplemente poner loops y hablar por encima y llamarlo música. ¿o sí?
Had to skip most of this. I felt like I was wasting time listening to this even though it was while I was doing other things.
false
Wow, this just sounds really really bad. I can understand how it might have been very original at it's time and how it may have influenced a lot of later, better music. But this just sounds atrocious.
I kept waiting for this album to break open and it never did. I wanted to like it more than I did. I suppose if I was laying on my childhood bedroom floor listening to the album through headphones while dosing I would have connected with it. Soberly listening to it in my office, it was a bit repetitive and monotonous. Frankie is annoying. Good riddance.
This sucks
It's unlikely that I will be listening to this ever again, much less once a year.
meh
0.5 terrible
did not enjoy this album
Garbage. The name fits.
1977. Key Songs: Cheree
Worthless fucking garbage.
