Reviews (page 12 of 12)

44/100

The only songs that stood out were Paint it Black and I am Waiting. Most of the songs and lyrics were repetitive and sounded the same.

Paint it black and Under my Thumb were great. Others not so much

Paint it black is great, but the rest of the album is really experimental. I think that it's more for the diehard fans at this point in time.

Meh.... Out of time er ágætt, minnir mig á föðursystur mínar í stuði, en restin er algjört snúsfest.

A bit unclear which version I’m rating but i wish it was the one with Paint it Black. It’s boomer oldies that left me kinda bored in 2023.. like its solid stones if that’s what you want but for me.. a meh

Really surprised at how toothless the stones are in rhyming and composition. This is the sound of the soulful blues heard through a wall. It doesn’t hit much at all. What lame rhymes. “I’m going home bome bome bome home”, “I am waiting. I am waiting. For someone one to come outside.” Lady Jane is lame as hell. Under my thumb is creepy. “Get my on flight 505!” So exciting. This would rate lower than midsized American city blues. Thank you stones for popularizing it in Britain… 2/5 cuz paint it black.

La nota no es porque no guste sino porque pasa sin pena ni gloria, hasta le hubiese quedado mejor a la versión UK tener Paint it, Black. Con el silbido de high and dry nos reímos mucho y con Out of Time nos besamos

You know, there's a lot to commend about this album as far as the time it was released in goes. This album is quite important. It was the first album of The Rolling Stones (one of the biggest and most influential bands of all time) that really hit it big. It also did some things that hadn't really been done before. The opening track "Mother's Little Helper" was apparently the first pop song ever written about middle-class drug dependency, at least according to Wikipedia. The song "Goin' Home" was one of the first popular 10-minute+ long songs, so that's kind of neat. However, I did not really like this album that much. I respect the album in regards to its musical talent and cultural significance. I think the singing and instrument playing is quite good. However, I have two major complaints. For one, it does get somewhat repetitive. It's not the most repetitive album I've ever heard that still gets points for its cultural significance (cough cough, Ramones, cough cough), but it is definitely somewhat noticable. Secondly, the biggest complaint of them all, is that the writing has not aged that well. This album is remarkably misogynistic at times, and was even criticized for this all the way back in the 60s when it released. I definitely felt uncomfortable at times with songs like "Under My Thumb" in particular. Overall, definitely a culturally significant album, but not one that I really liked listening to. 2/5.

Not for me

I like some of their more popular songs, but just not my genre

Paint it black and under my thumb get a 5, the rest is a mix of shit Brit pop and something approaching blues. How are these songs on the same album?

maaaaaaybe a 3, not sure

Not my cup of tea.

Tired of dad rock.

Some good classic stuff

It's not bad, quite boring for me as it's not my normal genre to listen to, although I do see the appeal. Very easy to tap along to, but other than a steady 2 - 4 beat there isn't much else substance. Quite an empty sound as a whole. For a band that was concerned about releasing something potentially triggering for US christians, they have a lot of misogynistic songs - all part of the time I guess. I skipped over 'Going Home' because it is way too long and repetitive.

Way too old timey for me, I don't get it. I'd rather listen to newer bops

Nú er ég hættur þessari meðvirkni. Þessi plata markar eflaust einhver tímamót í sögu Stóns, en fyrir mig var hún bara vonbrigði. Stenst engan samanburð við það sem Bítlarnir voru að gera á sama tíma, ef þetta átti að vera einhver samkeppni milli þeirra í gamla daga. Þrjú góð lög, restin einfaldlega leiðinleg. Lady Jane það lag sem mér fannst mest í spunnið og sítarinn í Paint it black líka góður, en George Harrisson var þegar búinn að spila á hann í Norwegian wood, svo ekkert nýtt þar.

A la banda todavía le faltaba cocerse.

Not that interesting.

paint it black is amazing but more so i enjoy that song cause of guitar hero. some of the other songs are just going on and on and i don’t care for them and i’m really just listening to this because that’s the whole point, listen to all the albums, all 1001 of them; but i don’t want to have to. and i can’t wait for this to be over. as bad as bob dylan? possibly, or worse cause they don’t have a blow in’ in the wind…. it’s only got 1 stars cause of paint it black, it all goes to that.

Not good. I'm very confused why this band is so iconic. There were so many similarities between the Stones and The Beach Boys album. It's a bland, boring album.

Couple classics but demonstrates how important it is for bands to have time to develop!

Kinda ok

Sounds like old rock, lots of songs about pretty babies, sounds like music you’d hear in a bar. A little slow to get into for my tastes.

I hate to say it, but I just coudn't get into the album. It seemed disjointed, to me.

I did not expect this to be THAT cringe. It wasn't like early Beatles, who would blow me away with their harmonies and simple guitar licks. Early Stones on the other hand has this edgy rock-'n'-roll persona that they bring out. It may be cool and more rock-'n'-roll-ish than The Beatles, but it didn't age well.

I've never understood the Rolling Stones and this didn't change my mind...

Good mix of some blues and quirky additions to the rock and roll format. Otherwise, very repetitive and far too long. Fav tracks: Paint It, Black (US), Mother's Little Helper, Doncha Bother Me

I mean, it was the stones, you know

just sorta meh.

Paint it black and under my thumb are standouts in this album but the rest is a strange mix of blues and classic rock. Not their best work. 4/10

Pari hyvää, monta tylsää biisiä. Ei innostanut.

Underwhelming

Gets a 2 because it has my favourite Rolling Stones song on it.

Rolling Stones are kind of overrated :/. Every song sounds like a meme version of themselves. "Under My Thumb" was pretty great, but I feel like it would be a way better song if they took more risks on it, but nah, on the B section they go back to the usual meme blues shit. "Going Home" is probably the worst song on the album. Why is this 11 minutes :,(...

not my fave

I've always found The Rolling Stones to be kind of boring and definitely not the world's greatest rock 'n' roll band of their era or any era. I appreciate their perseverance, however. This is a two-star record.

2/5. Some good singles but overall, just an okay one. I do not see the hype and this wouldn’t even be an album without the hits. Many of these bands need to just release singles and when they actually have good content, then release an album. Especially the 11 minute last song, so unnecessary.

Early album by The Rolling Stones. According to the lore, this is the record that showed the potential in their songwriting skills, finally coming up with their own style which we all know and love. But even though it's an important album for them historically, it's also an incredibly boring and definitely not noteworthy piece in their discography. Snoozefest to the top, very gentle melodies, vocal somewhere in the background, no power, no flair. This is definitely not a list of 1001 Most Important Albums in History, so what is it doing here?

Tired 2.0

Мне кажется, что культ роллинг стоунз - тот культ, который мы пока так и не поняли с пацанами. Даже с Битлами мы уже более менее помирились, как и с другими чуваками из 60-х, но тут прям... мех

boring

Heard it before?: No Enjoy it?: Yeah but compilation albums aren’t really my thing so I can’t rate this properly Favourite song: Track 4 - Under My Thumb

The songs mostly sound like a worse version of the Beatles with more questionable lyrics

The Stones definitely fall into that group of 60s/70s rock bands that I just can't for the life of me understand why they're still celebrated now. I'm sure at the time the music was groundbreaking and exciting, but it just doesn't hold up like some others from that time. Listened to the UK version and enjoyed the first track, but I'm struggling to recall anything interesting after that. I guess they just aren't for me.

We're spoiled by the Beatles. That's all I really have to say. Aftermath will always be an important album, it seems, for both cementing the LP as an album, a thing young people were interested in, and also giving the Stones excessive confidence to write their own songs, keep going. But... I don't like it. The closeness to Rubber Soul (and Revolver after it) make the Stones' attempt at songwriting and melody writing feels still nascent. This feels like: simple song (with crude lyrics and okay singing) + exotic or interesting instrument. That alone doesn't make me like this album. And the band doesn't sound tight in several songs. The instrumentation sounds a little lazy. I have to think that Aftermath has the biggest Beatles-adjacent lift of any album I can think of. Most of the classic, 1-degree-separated-from-Beatles albums around the same time have genuinely amazing songs, or have something about the performance that is captivating and remains timeless. There are so few good songs here. For all the stature of this album, there's just nothing memorable. I'll keep sticking to the stones, but this really isn't memorable. 2/5. Rounded up for its historical significance.

Okay, fine, I'll listen to the UK version. I'll sacrifice Paint it Black for what is... 50 minutes of mid. There's nothing essential about this album that you couldn't get from other Stones records besides its pure cynical reactionary take on 1960s counterculture. Under My Thumb is an unbelievably gross song that should be actively reevaluated as a classic, and the rest of the album isn't all that much better. Out of Time is okay, I guess. 2.5/5. Get out of my sight.

Listened to the UK release. Favourite song: Out of Time. Worse song: Goin Home. Most of the songs are too repetitive making them feel too long. Except goin' Home which is too long. A 4 minute song which lasts for over 11 minutes. Out of Time is s Classic and the obvious high point.

Two great songs, so two stars. The rest of it is basic or dated.

I can't say that I really know that much about The Rolling Stones to be honest. I obviously know that Keith Richards sold his soul somewhere along the line and will never ever die, and that Charlie Watts was a great drummer. One of 'em was a bit dodgy and married someone who was very young? Ronnie Wood is in the band! He was in Faces! 'Paint It Black' was in that film about war... ...' Full Metal Jacket'! I only know one more song on this record. Outside their hits, there really isn't much to The Stones, is there? It's just second rate blues/rock/pop, isn't it?! The Beatles were definitely doing more interesting things than this lot. 1.5 / 5 stars.

A few amazing songs make this album. The rest wasn’t for me.

This album is alright, I appreciate the instrumental diversity to liven up the sound but I didn’t find anything about the writing or performance too memorable. Possibly just a result of being a typesetter rock group, revolutionary in the moment but the ante has been upped since then and the elements that shocked audiences at the time don’t have the same impact.

If it weren't for Paint it Black, I would have probably given it a 1.

listenable album, best song is missing in the UK version, otherwise nothing to write home about. 3/10

Ya me ha tocado escuchar otros álbumes de The Rolling stones y este es el que menos me gustó, no siento que haya algo que los distinga en este, suenan como cualquier cancion de los 60 y con letras misóginas, no creo que lo escucharía solo por gusto

Bryant: The Stones are a prolific band. They put out a lot of music and put out a lot of hits but they're not really consistent. They also have a lot of meh. Basically every hit of theirs, I like the cover better. Erica: Except Paint it Black. Bryant: yeah, that one is perfect. Erica: I was thinking about covers the other day. Usually when you make a hit song, it's because you tried something new and you create emotions around that song which makes it easier for the covers. They get the existing emotions and the ability to play with the song with more abandon. Bryant: Yeah, the songs where The Stones took chances and made something kinda new were the best ones. A lot of this album is not great borrowed sounds. Erica: It's like Jagger, who is super unfortunate looking, wrote a bunch of wishful thinking songs. "I have a face that looks like it was hit by a mallet and I sound like a goat but if I write some good songs and shake my hips I can get the ladies." Bryant: It worked. Erica: I'd give it 3 stars if it didn't have so many misogynistic lyrics, but I can't in good conscience give it a good rating. Bryant: if it didn't have PiB, it'd be an easy 2. Whatever, it's okay, but I won't listen to this album again.

I Am Waiting was pleasant but I really don't get the Rolling Stones hype

besides the few hits on this record, my gosh this is repetitive, annoying, and full of unrelenting misogyny....no thank you i'll go listen to the later stones records

Started strong, quickly fell off

Not great

better than i expected but still meh

Pretty boring (going home 😴) and some odd lyrics. Listened to Paint It, Black after and it’s funny how it so easily blows everything else out of the water

They had me in the beginning but lost me by the end. I didn't realize how grating Mick's voice can get after listening to it for an hour. Instrumentation got repetitive.

It was okay. Would not choose to relisten.

Paint it Black is pure brilliance, but the rest of the album is full of mediocre midtempo numbers with insipid lyrics and derivative blues rifts. There are a few exceptions of great storytelling (Mother's Little Helper), but also a few too many songs that overdose on their own misogyny (Stupid Girl and Under my Thumb are particularly bad in this regard).

Not great. Had some good ones like paint it black and under my thumb, but mostly blues and country sounding boringness.

Under my thumb - great, really the only song that I felt any connection with on this album. I’m a Beatles boy, what can I say?

Somehow it hits the sweet spot of boring and misogynistic. I think only 2 of the songs are worth listening to and the rest of just so unnotable or straight up boring like the 11 minute (!!!) final track. 3/10

Paint it black obvs great. Was alright, bit outdated.

Best Song: Paint It Black. Wow, does the kickoff really give you an inaccurate estimate of what the rest of this album will sound like. Worst Song: Stupid Girl. Goddamn did this song ever age horribly. Overall: Starts strong and ends extraordinarily weak, on an 11 minute bloated bumpkin song with a guitar melody that competes with the chorus to see who can be more annoying. They both win.

I've never been a big Stones fan. This was an OK listen, I knew a fair amount of the songs already. I can see how they appeal to a lot of people; Jagger just doesn't have a type of non-melodic voice that I enjoy. Also, it's so extremely "male" that it puts me off.

Paint it black - cool song, great lyrics, classic melody 8/10 Stupid girl - didnt like 3/10 Lady jane - cool idea, not my tea 5/10 Under my thumb - has cool parts otherwise not great, guitar interlude is sick, 5/10 Think - 5/10 Flight 505 - could imagine listening to it at a bar wasted, caught the vibe 7/10 I am waiting - good ending song to a movie chorus part 7/10 overall 6/10 rest of the tracks mid 5/10 most tracks are not to my taste but paint it black and flight 505 brought it up

I listened to the US version, so at least it had "Paint It Black", which is obviously fantastic. Under My Thumb is a great song too, but the lyrics are downright horrible. I'd like to think that level of misogyny was unacceptable in 1966 too. Apart from those two and "Lady Jane", I thought this was mostly terrible.

I'm a bit surprised by how much I didn't enjoy this. Everything felt really flat and there wasn't much variety from song to song. Wouldn't recommend this album to anyone

whatever.

I’m sure they were good in their day but they don’t do anything for me.

I liked Paint it Black very much the rest was kinda forgettable.

First time listening, was at a 3 until the last song. Entirely too long and made the album hard to finish.

There isn't very much I can do any more about my core conviction – viz, that the The Rolling Stones are the the most celebrated singles band in history. I understand that this is their first album of solely self-penned material. The fact that the UK edition does not have the superlative Paint It Black aside, this really feels to me like when Big Fun broke free of the clutches of SAW.

Huge shout out to the crow that happened to be cawing overhead when Paint it Black came on. This is the kind of album I think about with them… there’s a good song and a lot of filler that feels incredibly blah. I skipped several songs halfway through.

It had to happen at some point. This is the fourth Rolling Stones album on the list for me, and it's a dud. I realize the importance of Jagger and Richards developing as songwriters, but this felt quite repetitive. 'I Am Waiting' is nice, and 'Paint It Black' is simply legendary. Too bad that the version listed in the book is the UK release which did not include it...

There are some really great tracks on this; let’s get that out of the way straight ahead. “Mother’s Little Helper”, “Lady Jane”, “Under My Thumb” and “I Am Waiting” especially! I appreciate that this is the first album containing only self-written material; but I can tell that they just aren’t capable of writing almost an hour of memorable music yet. How is most of this written at the same time as “Paint It Black”? And how is this the version NOT containing that absolute masterpiece? I live to wonder. I was contemplating giving this a 3 for a moment. But I think the Stones really suffered some sort of megalomania when they recorded the catastrophically long “Going Home”. I’m not a huge enough Rolling Stone or blues fan to enjoy that… Cause let’s face it: they are not exactly The Grateful Dead or Phish when it comes to improvisation.

Kind of sleeper, few things catchy but nothing stood out

Cemented what I believed before which is that the Stones get one good melody or line in a song and just really coast on it for anywhere from 3 to 11 minutes. A couple great songs save this from being an absolute slog of a record.

(Judging the original UK version here) I realize that this is somewhat early days of stereo recordings, but the panning is just awful to modern ears a lot of the time. That cymbal on High And Dry drives me insane. Large parts of this are also not that special songwriting-wise.

Okay this is by far my most controversial take (I think), but I didn't like this. I didn't dislike it but it felt very average. And the UK version doesn't even have Paint It, Black. I know that's the accessible pick but it's famous for a reason. 5/10

there are moments - “paint it black,” “gimme shelter” - where the stones are of course transcendent but when i listen to their albums i mostly hear british guys playing pretty good versions of black and american music

Not quite my taste.

Kinda basic blues, didnt really like that much. Had some interesting songs but I didnt feel like it held up to modern production standards.

Not a fan at all

Couple of classics, not particularly special to me

A couple decent songs, but really nothing special here. Once again I am unimpressed by The Rolling Stones.

Aftermath does nothing to convince me that the Stones are overrated, I'm still yet to hear anything consistent from them that turns the lightbulb on. Middling 60s nonsense, 2/5 and they're lucky to get that.

This album linked to the UK version, but I made the executive decision to listen to the US version instead, because who really wants to hear this album and not hear "Paint It Black"? I have heard a few of the songs from this album MANY times over the years. But, I think mostly due to this project, I REALLY picked up on the heavy psychedelia present on this album, as well as the very overt Eastern influences throughout. These were both genre qualities that I had never paid attention to or noticed in the past. Another thing I had not picked up on previously was the dark, creepy nature of the lyrics of "Under My Thumb". Whether the lyrics tell of sexual dominant/submissive roles or something more rapey, I can't confirm, but really HEARING those lyrics for the first time was interesting. Otherwise, I was mostly underwhelmed with this album; it was just okay. Some of the instrumentation (again, the eastern influences) were cool to hear when compared to the entire album, but the overall album got pretty boring after a few songs, and many of the songs leaned more bluesy than I care for.

First, I'll point out I listened to the USA version, which offers a significantly different selection of songs from the UK version, most notably Paint it Black (my pick for best Stones song ever). With that advantage in mind, I will still say I tend to find Stones music rather uninspiring - with the notable exception of some of their classics (e.g., Satisfaction). This album is no exception.

Well.. having spent most of my life thinking the Stones were a proper shit band, but changing my mind at around age 38 after a bit of a deep dive, tonight I listened to this album (having heard it before a few times) while cooking and I just thought they sounded shit. Certainly no comparison to Beatles either!

Middling for me. Unexceptional.

Juvenile, sexist, barely managing mediocre... but Christ, 'Paint it Black' is a great song. Shannah - 1.75 Conor - 2.5 Bill - 0.5 (1.6/5)

Heard before: not in its entirety An Album that confirms my suspicions that the Stones are overrated. The only redeeming features of this album are some interesting moments of instrumentation - e.g. marimba on Under My Thumb, which also features a lovely guitar tone. But that track is ruined by Jagger’s awful singing and distasteful lyrics, which also colour the rest of the album. They’re not Brown Sugar-bad, but still left me feeling a little queasy. When the lyrics aren’t bad, they’re boring, and when the band are playing blues tunes I’d rather listen to Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters etc.

Found it just ok. Much preferred Let It Bleed (which I only scored 3?). Stupid Girl and Under My Thumb are weird. UK version doesn't have Paint It Black?

Gubbigt

I quickly lost interest after Paint It Black.

No thanks.

Musikalisches Gelaber. Mother's Little Helper und Under My Thumb sind ganz ok.

Okay so I tried listening to this album and I just couldn't get into it. I have nothing against The Stones, but I wouldn't listen to it again.

first song is good then boring

I did not like this. It lacked the energy of the Stones best works.

Definitely still finding their stride.

Saved Prior: Paint It, Black Off Rip: Under My Thumb, I Am Waiting Cutting Edge: None Overall Notes: Gotta be one of the most misogynistic rock albums I've ever heard from a mainstream artist. These guys do not like women as people. This isn't really why I didn't like the album [it's mostly borderline boring (TO ME) guitar work and quasi-sung lyrics that I can see influenced a lot of later artists], it just surprised me. Not a huge Rolling Stones guy myself, much prefer the Beatles. Am I...fruity??

Starts with classic Paint It, Black Under My Thumb is a bop Didn't really love the rest of it.

Generic songs. Was this the Stone's Contractual Obligations album?

Probably one of the first full Rolling Stones albums I ever listened to, got into them a little back in 2019. UPDATE: I don't think I like the Rolling Stones lol I can respect that they were popular and talented but that 11 minute song kind of illustrates what my problem is: they just jam on songs and gets repetitive and boring. Every song on this album could have been 11 minutes long if they hadn't just stopped playing at 4 minutes. That's how meandering and formless these tracks are.

Not really my thing

Got hopeful from the glimpse of Kinks inspiration at the start, but mostly just blue-eyed blues and stuff the 60s had already left behind by that point.

wow, more rolling stones... are we fucking kidding? this book is pretty much just the same few groups over and over and over again. getting really bored of this time period and these bands. 2/5.

This is like the 4th or 5th Brit rock album We’ve gotten in 7 days lmao. It sucks it was the UK version, I wanted to listen to paint it black. It was pretty boring at times, no tracks really stuck out to me.

This may be because of the state of mind I was in while I listened to this album, but I found it to be pretty boring. Nothing differentiated it from other British Invasion albums and it was pretty lame by Rolling Stones standards. I can appreciate the attempt at psychedelic vibes from the stones though.

Not my fave...felt meh

I know it's sacrilege, but I don't really like the Stones. It's old-timey rock-and-roll and just not...something I dig all that much.

Never was a Stones fan either... 2.5 stars.

The album cover here says UK version, which doesn’t even have paint it black. Another reason to just be sick and tired of these Rolling Stones. Honestly. After a few albums I can see so much moss growing it’s not even funny. I didn’t even bother with the UK version and did the US. Paint it black is a classic. All the others felt like the same ol Beatles rock that I don’t care for. I don’t get how people liked these guys.

The album is not as good as expected to be honest. At least the US version of the album had Paint it Black which isn't on this one and takes away from it TBH. 5/10.

Another miss for me from the Stones, it’s lacking something. Coincidentally listened to this the day Charlie Watts passed. RIP

Great first track but fades after

Paint it Black! And 10 other songs.

I might be biased, because I favor the Beatles by a wide wide margin over the Stones, but I have never been very impressed by Aftermath or any Stones record for that matter. Fair enough, "Paint It, Black" is an absolute classic and it deserves its reputation, but I find Jaggers' vocals unengaging, the instrumentals too soft and the recording quality to be very sub-average. A 2/5 is a fair score.

Yeah I can really get into their early stuff. Some nice tracks - Paint it Black is a classic. But so much of it just sounds really twee - it makes me think of the Spinal Tap 60s spoof stuff.

mga misojinists, i slept

Boring but paint it black is a banger

Kind of feel about early Stones like I feel about early Beatles. Some good stuff, some great, some crap. Good album. Not their best.

You're gonna lose points for 'Stupid Girl'. Preeetty douche-y song. Generally got the same vibe from a bunch of the album. Subpar work.

The Rolling Stones are hack frauds. They write well-over an album's worth of songs and basically land on one or two good songs that sell it as singles. The rest are boring or just outright bad. Under My Thumb is a good song! I like it as a single. The rest is just whatever. This is the genesis of "pop" albums where you get a couple of songs to sell the whole album and it makes everyone a bunch of money. I know people like to complain about contemporary pop music but honestly it's not bad for the reasons they complain about. It's bad because they make a handful of boring album-filler and promote the hell out of the singles. It sucks the life out of me. Thanks, Rolling Stones.

Seems I am not a fan of early stones.

Listened to the UK version (because that was the Album art on this thing) and it was disappointing to not have their biggest song on the list. Was overall fairly mediocre. I can see how this leads to some of their and other artists works, but this was just not one I enjoyed much

Couldn't even finish it lads. Besides 'Paint it Black', 'Stupid Girl' and 'Under My Thumb', this album is so fucking boring. And here 'Paint it Black' isn't even on the UK version.

Buen disco, mostrando la progresión de los Stones, aunque para mí es inevitable compararlo con los discos posteriores, y también con los anteriores, que me gustan bastante más.

Broadly dull

While I've heard a few of these songs a few thousand times, I've never listed to an entire RS album this old. There's nothing wrong with it, but I don't find it memorable-I'd rather listen to a different Stones album.

Emt. Första två låtarna har lite questionable lyrics, men bra instrumental

A couple of really great well known songs, generally good.

I liked 2 or 3 of the more recognisable songs but I wasn’t crazy about the rest of the album 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rolling Stones were always a bit meh for me.

The album started very strong with Paint it Black and Under my Thumb, and then it started to get more bluesy near the end of it? Not a big fan of the latter tracks, nothing made a huge impression on me. Torn on whether to give it a higher score due to Paint It Black, but I feel like the Stones really sorta meandered about. That's my favorite word for talking about these tracks, isn't it? Meander

Pretty good. A lot of people describe this album as the first real rolling stones album, and I would agree. I'm personally not super into this album but there are a few pretty solid songs on the album

I hate Jagger's voice

nä jag har svårt att digga det faktikst

This was just not good.

Not bad. Quite early Stones and a little vanilla.

A Disappointing Journey Through 60s Rock Mythology After listening to Aftermath in its entirety, I'm left wondering how this album earned its reputation as a classic. While "Paint It Black" is an undeniable masterpiece (dark, hypnotic, and genuinely innovative with its sitar-driven melody) the rest of the album ranges from forgettable filler to outright offensive misogyny. The Good: "Paint It Black" stands alone as the album's only redeeming track. Its apocalyptic lyrics and Eastern-influenced sound create something timeless and genuinely unsettling. It's a song that rightfully earned its place in rock history. "I Am Waiting" was a pleasant surprise with its weird rhythm and Appalachian folk instrumentation. It has a mysterious atmosphere that sets it apart, though it's not something I'd add to a playlist. The Bad: The album is unfortunately defined by its deeply unpleasant attitude toward women. "Stupid Girl" is a bitter, juvenile rant. "Under My Thumb" is even worse: a celebration of emotional domination and dehumanization that's genuinely uncomfortable to listen to. The imagery of women as "squirming dogs" and "pets" is indefensible. "Think" continues this pattern with a childish argument where Jagger badgers a woman to take responsibility for everything, oblivious to his own flaws. "Out of Time" is more of the same dismissive nonsense. The Forgettable: "Flight 505" sounds like background music in a diner, a bland story about a plane crash that goes nowhere. "High and Dry" is a mildly amusing country-blues experiment about a gold-digger getting outsmarted, but it's hardly noteworthy. "Goin' Home" is historically significant as the first extended rock jam, but listening to it is a slog. The 11-minute improvisation meanders. "Lady Jane" has a pleasant Baroque sound but lacks substance. "It's Not Easy" tries to be introspective (Jagger admitting he took his woman for granted) but it just reinforces the era's attitude that women existed to serve men. The Problem: Beyond individual tracks, Aftermath suffers from a broader issue: the Stones were young, privileged white men in 1960s London appropriating African American blues traditions and repurposing them for petty relationship grievances. The weight of the blues (systemic oppression, slavery, Jim Crow) is entirely absent. What should have depth becomes goofy posturing. Final Verdict: Aftermath is an album carried entirely by one brilliant single. The rest is either misogynistic garbage or forgettable filler. The Stones may have been revolutionary for their time, but listening today, the "edgy" rebellion sounds childish and dated. If you want the blues, listen to the Black artists who actually lived it. If you want great rock, skip this and keep "Paint It Black" on your playlist. Rating: 2/10 (7 points for "Paint It Black," 3 for "I Am Waiting," and a collective -8 for everything else)

Fuck Keith Richards. 1/5

Notable Textzeile: And it's hard (It's not easy) And it's hard (It's not easy) And it's a pretty hard, baby (It's not easy) It's not easy living on your own Diese Band hatte auch Phasen, in denen sie recht interessante Musik geschrieben hat.

1, last song is weird lmfao

Ugh I've always likes some Stones hits but never thought their albums were any good, and this one proves me right. I have no idea how they were as big as the Beatles.

What a drag it is getting old. This album is old and worn out, like the Stones themselves.

A few good bit from the band here, you can hear the start of something good to come. But Jagger, he is insufferable on every track. If it's not rapey lyrics it's awful vocal performances

The songs are too damn old to resonate with me.

I dont think I like the rolling stones.

This is an album of The Rolling Stones' most boring songs and Paint it Black, and that song isn't even on the UK release of the album. They had to cut down the album and give us an actually interesting song for our short American attention spans.

Listened to the US release and hated every second after paint it black.

legit nothing inspiring/compelling at all smh

Creo que nunca serán para mi los Rolling Stones.

Just like the oasis/blur wars the stones vs the Beatles was never really a competition… This project is just proof that the stones are a band of singles not albums. This feels very of it’s time simple almost naive songs with vapid or misogynistic lyrics . It’s hard to score this as I listened to the English version without “paint it black” … with that song on it probably does enough to be a 2 not a 1 , just - with out its completely skip able

Other than the 1st track it's all hokey backwoods twanging. Dated, country, simpleton.

Hate it when boys make Rock, that's a girls thing

This album is dripping with overt misogyny. From “Stupid Girl,” which is mean-spirited and exposes an underlying hatred of women, to “Under My Thumb,” which is about coercive control, to “Mother’s Little Helper,” which masquerades as social critique but is really a dig on housewives. These are the most egregious examples, but the whole album is sexist to the core. It comes as no surprise that Mick Jagger is a raging misogynist, but it’s wild listening to albums from the 1960s where this was completely normalized. I find the lyrics abhorrent, but the music is boring, too! I will never understand why this band became so popular.

Damn, this one was a bummer to listen to. First half had a bunch of songs that musically didn't match, as well as two wildly misogynistic tunes ("Stupid Girl" and "Under My Thumb"). Second half was a little better, but then it ended on "Going Home", an eleven-minute track that actually went nowhere. No interesting build or dynamics, just meandering around the structure of a song. Disappointing.

i cannot remember a single song

Like very oddly rapey. I did not realize how weird this fucking band is because I've only heard singles Highlights: Paint It Black

Maybe it's just my mood lately, but I'm over all the misogyny in this music. Yes, the Stones are phenomenal, but the misogyny is a zero.

favs: paint it, black doncha bother me going home rating 1.5/5

hshahah

Zero, terrible

I've always had a bit of a vague distaste towards the Stones, and this album really solidified it for me. Compared to what else we had coming out this year, this is really a very underwhelming record. Listen to Revolver, listen to Pet Sounds and then listen to this, it's like night and day. As it was with this entire period of their career, the Stones were desperately trying to play catch-up with The Beatles, and were consistently several steps behind. Admittedly though, there are a couple of decent tracks on here, like Paint It Black, its got a great sense of rhythm and a fantastic melody that really stands out compared to the rest of the tracks... and it isn't even on this version of the record, it was only included on the US release of this album. The worst offence on this entire record though is undoubtedly the lyrics, which even in the 60s were flagged because of their deeply misogynistic themes. Maybe this album could've gotten an extra star otherwise, but it is just downright uncomfortable to listen to at times, and it isn't helped that Mick Jagger has a vocal delivery that I find incredibly frustrating. Even a track like Going Home, which has actually quite a novel concept for the time of an 11 minute jam track, is completely ruined by Jagger's constant incessant moaning. Maybe the next album of theirs I get will prove me wrong, but they remain to me one of the least interesting acts of this era of music. Fav Track: 1 - Paint It, Black It gets through on a technicality, no other song on here could fill this spot

US ver, one song album

Good Lord the last track was way too long. One or two bangers, the rest forgettable.

What do The Rolling Stones and Pink have in common? The both have a song called “Stupid Girl(s)” and they’re both atrocious. The album edged me with a riff that almost sounded like Satisfaction, but it wasn’t Satisfaction, it was some other shitty song. Bad music! Bad music!!

jesus christ what are these lyrics ….. dropped this cause icb asked to sit through it all.

The music is fine, albeit boring, but it's 60's rock that is to be expected. However these lyrics.... Naw man this aint it. Paint it, Black isn't on the UK version so I don't see a single redeeming quality to this record. 1/10

not my vibe, very garage band sounding for a big band

Did not like it at all

[UK edition] Partly heard before Saved 2/14 Top track: Under My Thumb

I liked paint it black, it very quickly went very downhill from there, as the lyrics are mostly deeply misogynistic, which is astounding considering the overall mediocrity. One would've thought there was at least SOMETHING compelling about an album by a band of this fame and renown, but I am sad to find that this is not at all the case here.

Why is there a song about a "stupid girl"?

- More pedos, and haven’t heard anything recent about their stance on the genocide, but they played Israel in 2014. Sounds like they’re probably Zionists, and I don’t fuck with Zionists. - Might have given this a 2 if it wasn't for the clearly misogynistic & narcissistic vibe throughout. - High and Dry (which is easily one of the worst songs on the album) is very “the breakup came out of nowhere!” after years of being abusive. - Paint it Black and Under my Thumb are still catchy, but the lyrics of Under my Thumb are gross af. - The other songs (minus I am Waiting) are extremely forgettable. And, I agree with everyone about how annoying it is that the last song (on the US version) went on forever. - Listened to the UK version after, and I had always thought Mother’s Helper was a reflection on the negative effects of the patriarchy, but now that I’ve heard it in context with this album, it’s clearly just another example of them hating on women. Now, it’s relegated to the trash bin with Under my Thumb (which I guess I never really listened to closely before). - Similar vibe for Out of Time - nice enough tune with misogynistic lyrics. - This album is such a hard no.

If this was the American reissue it would have gotten 2 stars purely for Paint It Black being on it. But the original UK version truly has no redeeming qualities. Many songs are just plain and uninteresting, Jagger's voice and performance aren't captivating and often do not work well with the rest of the song. Then there are points where the album dips from bad or just uninteresting to awful, such as the bottomless pit of annoying nothingness of Going Home.

What an absolute load of wank that was. Didn't help that I listened to the UK version. I missed out on the only good song related to this album and had to unnecessarily listen to this shite for another 15 minutes longer than I had to. Was this album necessary at all? I've listened to two other Stones albums that were miles better than this.

I really don't like the rolling stones and this confirms it

How are the rolling stones so damn boring? I just am sitting here slackmouthed at the audacity to think I would want to enjoy listening to this album. 1/5. I'd give it a 2 for "Paint it, Black" but I think my Guitar Hero nostalgia is what makes me want to do so, so I'll refrain. Every other song sucks.

Boring, misogynistic and repetitive. I had only listened to Paint It, Black and its probably the ONLY good song. I hated High and Dry, its just plates…It’s so annoying, seems like they think their audience in dumb and don’t deliver anything else. Just unbearable. Made me think the Beatles are not that bad and I hate the Beatles.

Both consistently misogynist and with moments of unbearable affectation and what seems to be a rather poor grasp of Tudor History.

Sexist drivel.

Rubbish

Quite dire. The level of careless abuse and misogyny in the lyrics is something else. Some of these songs I used to bop along to and not think too hard about the lyrics. Cor! That seems messed up now. Some of the music is OK, but only OK really. If Paint It Black was on the version we were looking at that would have raised it a point. That's a banger. But my god.

Boring l, mysoginist crap

A jumbled mess of misogyny.

no likey

I hated this! Boring as fuck and incredibly sexist.

I listened to the UK version which does not include Paint It Black which may have nudged the rating slightly higher. This has not aged well. The lyrics are extremely misogynstic and the music is unexceptional.

Apparently I listened to the US version, which is less of a steaming pile of dung than the UK version but I will not subject myself to any more. I was wondering why They’d start with a banger like Paint It Black and then immediately plummet with Stupid Girl. Doncha Bother Me was an embarrassing mess of an attempt at the blues. The mix was all over the place on every track except for Paint It Black. Like where is the balance?! Jail.

Everything about this is hard for me to listen to. The, what is that, guitar? Sitar? Electric dulcimer?tone hurts my head. The lyrics are not clever The performance has a certain quality that makes me want to punch everyone involved. It's like the worst of the Beatles I hear a lot of the 80s music i don't like in mick jagger's singing I'm wondering if they influenced every band ive ever hated. Is this where it started? I quit 3 minutes into the 11 minute "I'm going home". In tears. I can't do this. It got old after one minute. I'm not strong enough. I can't. This album is assault The US version starts with their one good song because of course it does And obviously i got suckered into the uk version which is longer and worse.

This feels like the British Invasion version of Hat Store Rap. This feels like such a slog to get through. Regardless of my personal feelings and drudgery Mick is still undeniable as a force of charisma and the guitar riffs and grooves compliment him so well. 11 minutes of going home makes me want to go home. Maybe I’m just in a shit mood but this has felt like the most difficult album to get through. This feels like The Stones at their most boring. Is this when Keith started using heroin? So my first listen was the UK version which does not have Paint it Black and is ten minutes longer. So I was right on all accounts and they changed a few things. Overall this was unpleasant, pastiche, lame, uninspired, cheap brit rock. Essentially what the Stones lay their hat on but it just didn’t have any of the charm for me. I’m also not a big fan of their of the singles off of this. Compared to songs like Jumpin Jack Flash, can’t you hear me knocking, satisfaction and later hits like Sympathy and Wild Horses, paint it black and Under my thumb feel lame.

It's a wonder that The Rolling Stones is remembered to this day.

I did not enjoy this

First song was about a mom doing drugs? Didn't really enjoy the content or the music.

Ech, 60s rock. This has aged really poorly. Actually, I'm so not enjoying it, it gets a 1.

Oof. Listened to the US version and then the different tracks from the UK version. I can't get past the misogyny. But also meh. Take It Or Leave It? I will leave it. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Paint It, Black (US)

I am also a Mick Jagger hater.

First song felt so innovative. stop bitching about a woman you asshole. I don't like rock. I've heard this 10000 times. If I heard another 12 bar blues I'm gonna lose it.

Oof. Listened to the US version and then the different tracks from the UK version. I can't get past the misogyny. But also meh. Take It Or Leave It? I will leave it. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite tracks: Paint It, Black (US)

I really just dont like it, I guess its not my style or something but it felt so disjointed and repetitive. I switched to the US version, and Paint It Black is honestly the only redeeming part of this album.

Sikkert bra for 60 år siden, men ikke nå.. Skranglete og kjedelig

ew i dont like the rolling stones very much. the lyrics are so bad, especially as they talk about underage girls a lot, a demographic that which I am part of. 1/5

Rolling Stones albums are either really good or really bad. This is one of the bad ones. The only good song on this album is “Paint It Black”. Everything else was just boring.

Meh, kind of uninspired. The lyrics were particularly sophomoric.

Absolutely the F*ck not! Song listing: 1.)Paint it Black -- decent mostly for nostalgia -- in my youth I am pretty sure I thought this was a Doors song 2.) Stupid Girl -- Sophomoric and stupidly pedantic lyrics no real tune 3.)Lady Jane -- probably even more ridiculous lyrics than previous song and they used "troth" more than once -- no wonder everybody called them posh boys 4.)Under my Thumb -- stupid misogynistic leaning lyrics -- Social Distortion also covered this song and beyond the lyrics their cover is x1000 better. Doncha bother me and the rest of the songs --- really blended together except for It's Not Easy -- probably the most trite lyrics on the whole album and that is saying something.

Nah, don’t like this one.

Very very meh.

Rating it a 1 because I enjoyed 1 song

DNF. Genuinely, I thought this sucked. Jagger grunting in my ear about how badly he wants to go home and screw his woman for ten minutes is not how I wanted to start my morning. Just go and listen to Wild Horses.

The singles were on the lower tier as far as popular Rolling Stones singles go. Certainly not enough to bring up the rest of the album, which was painful to listen to.

I'm not sure if being harsher on this because it's my third Rolling Stones album in ten days, but this is pretty awful. I think High and Dry might genuinely be one of the worst songs of the 1960s and even Paint It Black/Mother's Little Helper can't save it for me. The songs on here sound very similar and they are not good.

dull misogynist repetitive shit

Disarmingly boring misogyny.

I AM WHITE AND IT IS 1945

Okay, standard 60s rock album- still not too fussed on the stones.

Horrible - songs have such unimaginative lyrics with poor, low complexity melody

Whether you're in the market for blatant misogyny (stupid girl, under my thumb) or absolute snore-fests (going home, I am waiting), the Stones have you covered Fuck all the way off

Wasn't it enough that Britain had to colonize the world in search of spices just so they could prepare the most unseasoned food? Did they also have to steal everyone's instruments to make this album?

I have no interest in this, dull as fuck, there's an 11 minute song in the middle and Paint It Black isn't even on this version

Did not enjoy.

They have some serious tunes but this may be one of the dullest albums I've ever listened to

Very one paced and boring. The lyrics are really something

Really quite dull, never thought of them as an album band

Absolutely pants start. Got bored about halfway through so not gonna finish this one.

For mye funky gittttarrr og aaaalt for mye StEEEerEOOO spill

Probably this is the first time that I listen to a complete Rolling Stone album. I'm going to sound ignorant ASF but I didn't know that Paint it black was from this album. WTF with this song: Stupid Girl. I kind of get it but I'm not a big fan of Rolling Stones. So, 2 stars for this album. XOXO Maggie

I know this is supposed to be a landmark album and all, but, um....no. I can't believe this album is mentioned in the same breath as Rubber Soul.

no songs struck me in particular, and misogynistic lyrics + repetitive boring rock had me literally not paying attention. already had 2 songs off the album liked from previous attempt to listen from a while ago but even those i'm not particularly fond of or feel a desire to listen to again. could be attributed to limitations of personal taste, but subjectivity is the essential core of this whole project anyway

There's something about this era of mid-60s production that always sets my teeth on edge, you can tell this was EQ'd for FM radios that didn't pick up high frequencies very well. I found myself having to listen to this in shorter chunks just because that keith richards telecaster sound as recorded is really only palatable in small chunks. This album is a combination of things to me that both song quite modern, and also stark reminders that this album is 10 years removed from the "doo-wop" era (and only about 30 years removed from the peak of delta blues). "Out of Time" is straight out of some righteous brothers recording, while "Mother's Little Helper" borrows modes from turkish café music to make some exceedingly bitter and wry commentary about class hypocrisy in drug usage (albeit with still dated conceptions of mental health and sexism). Such is the appeal of a lot of this era of music to me, where you can hear the new guard alongside the old guard and be forced to take part in a little bit of the same shock that contemporary audiences probably held. My favorite track on this album is probably "Sweet Lady Jane", a surprisingly tender mixolydian ode (supposedly to cannabis) that is really performed with a lot of delicacy and control by Mick and crew. I think the Rolling Stones are at their best when they're forced out of their stylistic and thematic comfort zones, and Brian Jones inspired use of extended instrumentation here really makes a lot of the counterpoint come alive. As Tears Go By and Wild Horses are the eventual results of this more tender and reserved kind of exploration. Now I'm admittedly not a lyricshead, unless the words are really clear and foregrounded in the mix I'm really going to only ambiently notice them, but this album is just really obnoxious and annoying conceptually in a way that's just unavoidable. On a long list of things that make this album a tough hang, that manages to be at the top of the list. It ages even more poorly next to the other transformative albums that came out at the same time, Pet Sounds and Revolver sound like brilliantly modern classics especially in comparison to this, both textually and compositionally. Overall this is a really unpleasant listen. The bracing reminders of acrid sexism here are a good reminder of how awful large parts of the counterculture were at the time (a fact that IMO gets glossed over when the era is described fatuously by boomers as a utopian vision of anti-authoritarianism). This could have safely been left off the list with nothing of value lost, and this is coming from a person that's deeply partial to music from the 60s. Ordinarily with albums I don't like I can abstract my way out to finding some compositional features I like or find interesting, but I have no real interest in doing that here. Beyond being caustic and stupid, this album is also exceptionally boring.

FFFFFFFFFffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff................................ I've heard Mother's Little Helper so many times before, didn't even register the name of the song let alone register the content of the lyrics before just now. The rest of it just drags on after that. This is the band? This is iconic? This is in the cannon of our Collective Cultural Achievement? [Clay Davis says 'Sheeeeiiit' (10 hour edit)]

It’s hilarious I’m listening to this after everyone has aired their grievances, lol. Reading into this a bit it’s objectively hilarious that they picked this as part of the Stones’ canon. This feels like them desperately trying to find their voice. I actually love “Mother’s Little Helper” as a satire of how much speed had saturated normal life, it’s genuinely good and a decent tune. And then, abject idiocy. This band wrote some legitimately great tunes what are they doing with “Stupid Girl”? “Lady Jane” is begging for someone other than Mick to sing this song. I feel like Brian Jones thought this was a good idea but Mick is the absolute wrong person to sing this tune. The music is kinda gorgeous though - almost gives the same impression as “Golden Brown” by The Stranglers. “Under My Thumb” still slaps with the overfuzzed bass and the marimbas, which is the only saving grace cause yeah what in the actual fuck were you thinking, Mick. Some of this is almost worse than the more objectively criminal lyrics because it’s sung like it’s absolutely ok. Blurf. “Doncha Bother Me” is just the Stones doing their early blues schtick with a few more bells and whistles but like - they did so much better just two years later, why is *this* seminal listening? “Going Home” is a snoozefest after the first verse and there’s 11 minutes but OK. I’ll just go listen to Ten Years After jam on “I’m Going Home” for 11 minutes at Woodstock instead. Anyway while they’re fucking around I will say - there is an element of this that is fascinating to hear a band figuring out their sound. However I would not call it something that’s required listening; just interesting for fans of the band itself. Brian Jones is doing so much heavy lifting here. They’re still going with this bullshit jam god bless them. What trash. “Flight 505” isn’t terrible, though it’s way overproduced with the organ - it’s indicative of a ton of the problems with overproduction on this album. They don’t have a George Martin to tell them “no that will sound bloody awful boys”. Also lol they just wrote a song about crashing a plane into the ocean. Cool, great ending. The fucking rich irony of writing a song like “High and Dry” after being an absolute fucking monster the rest of the album. “Out of Time” is the second legitimately good song on the record, the doo-wop skewering works and the harmonies actually work. Mick’s range is actually on display here. Even if it is about telling a woman she’s frumpy and bad because that seems to be the theme of the album. Boys. The song ended a minute and a half ago. C’mon now. Again THE IRONY OF SINGING THAT IT’S HARD TO BE ALONE. GEE I WONDER WHY. I do love “I Am Waiting”, a genuinely beautiful song with incredible harmonies and a gorgeous sentiment. “Take It or Leave It” is also incredibly solid, damn did you figure some shit out? Some legitimately great tunes here at the end. Nope there we go with another gaslighting song. Fuck off man. I can think back to what a fucking sack of donkey shit you were the rest of this album. Christ what a spiteful album, except for a handful of gorgeous tunes.

I tried listening to this, but I just can't get into it. This older stuff just feels so dated at this point.

it was not for me. i didn’t really like it, it’s not my type

I think this might be the worst collection of songs I've ever listened to. No exaggeration.

Die Musik ist repetitiv und eher langweilig. Meh.

Just didn’t like it.

So unbelievably boring.

paint it black gets a 3. the rest. meh. Nope this is one star. its catchy but I think I'd rather go to the dentist than listen to this music. I'd rather do mandatory HR Training than listen to this music. If I never hear another Rolling Stones album I will be fine.

Paint it black good. Everything else so so so so so so so so bad. 1/10

I will never understand the love for this band. It’s the stones and Aerosmith that just make no sense to me. How are these bands so highly regarded? This album was not good. This band is not good.

Hm, two versions of this album, going with UK version. This sounds nothing like any famous RS song I've heard before. It's not very good at all, even if different for the RS. Inclined to 2* (1.5 rounded up) 3 tracks in. Maybe I should have listened to the US version with paint it black, and that would have earned it another 0.5 star.

Hated this one. First few songs were terrible. Couldn't pull myself to do the last few tracks. Not for me.

Mäßig interessanter Pop Rock.

Not good. I don’t get it.

It was probably the shit at its' time, but it's either the rolling stones, or this album, but this kind of music is really not my thing. Although i can imagine some hippies in the 60s tripping their balls to the 11 minute closer

One dug one track, Under my Thumb

i got around a quarter of the way through before i decided to cut my losses, i don't think i'll ever care that much about 90% of 60s rock

Ahh..The Rolling Stones. Two songs on this album had millions of views which made sense since they’re so well known. Now, it also make sense why the other songs had less than a million. They ALL sounded the same. I didn’t know when one song started and another one ended. All just blended together. Also, the lyrics were repetitive and never changing. It was especially repetitive when we got to the 11 minute song. Just kept going and going with nothing new added. 2/10 only because of the two popular songs.

this aint it

недоебанные битлы

Guess I just like paint it black

Not a fan of this band.

non!!!!

06/09/2022 The Rolling Stones – Aftermath 1.5/5 The Rolling Stones is one of those groups that, because of their impact on the music world and general culture in general; I’ve been always tented to listen to deeply, but I have never had the real intentions to. I like most of their more known songs, but their general musical aspect has never attracted me. Well, after listening to this album, I have lost all my interest. I don’t know if it’s because it’s one of their first albums and they evolve their sound later in their career, but for me it sounded terrible, both musically and in terms of production and quality. As some people have said in their reviews here, they sound like a way worst version of The Beatles, and not contemporary to this album exactly (Revolver was released on 1966 too and it’s the beginning of the better Beatles era, in my opinion). There is only one exception (and only in the U.S. version of the album), and it’s Paint It, Black, probably my favourite song of theirs. The rest sound kind of awful for me. Favourite tracks – • Paint It, Black: great track. Atmospheric, highly authentic sound that pairs incredible with the lyrics, and quite original. I wish the rest of the album sounded like this. Less favourite tracks – • Lady Jane: I can’t stand the sound of the instrumentation of this song, and how it is so disconnected from the voice. • Going Home: who thought that making this track 11 minutes long was a good idea?

I found it hard to get through. Mediocre singing, no depth in lyrics, dragged out tunes - not my cup of tea!

This album ranged from cheesy and repetitive to downright painful to listen to. The vocals really grate on some tracks and in quite a few cases the lyrics are bloody awful. Paint it black was a highlight, but nothing special and it was downhill from there.

Besides the 2-3 classics, it sucks

I enjoy the Rolling Stones, but this album was not good.

Blah blah thumb blah

Meh? Soooo not my kind of music. Nothing to write home about at all.

I do not like the rolling stones...

-beatles were better -production feels sloppier than Rubber Soul/Revolver which were the same years -"going home" would probably be fun live but not sitting at a desk for 11 minutes

i havent heard of this band yet but their songs are so dopeee why did i not know this band before lol

Sixties Stones, Great
