Reviews (page 7 of 7)
This sounds familiar, but I've never Heard this band. It's pretty typical of the sound from that era. Which I'm this case really isn't a compliment. This will be a band I forget about the second I move to the next one.
Was OK in places, bit proggy
Oh yea this is bad
I thought I recalled this name from the 80s-90s bands, but 1974!?. I liked some songs, wash unfazed by most.
It's fine. Sounds like a lot of albums from the era. Nothing really stood out to me. I found the lead singer's voice grating.
Pretty much the only good song by Mott the Hoople was written by David Bowie, and it doesn’t appear on this album. Mott is very lackluster; at times they sound like the type of psychedelic folk that Dylan or The Byrds were making in the late 60s and at other times they sound like early glam rock like Bowie. Problem is… all of those artists had moved on by 1973 into bigger and better (or at least different) projects, and Mott sound dated even in 1973.
Won't be listening again
The guy's voice annoys me and I was looking forward to the album finishing. At some point I gave up and just stopped listening.
Not into glam rock. Most was lame but the standout is the leadoff "All the Way from Memphis" which was pretty decent.
Mott felt so very uninspired, I usually give albums a second listen to re-assess but the thought of listening to this one again has me yawning. I’m a Cadillac had a cool moment but it was too little too late. This is a case where the vocalist just didn’t click with me. Not enough glam, dime a dozen act. 2 stars
Had a few good tracks the elevated above general 70s rock but I didn't find it that interesting as a whole album.
I was very bored with this. I guess I expected more because of the hit “All the young dudes”, which I now learned was written by Bowie which explains a lot. I can tell there is some decent musicianship here in the components but I’m just not feeling it from a band/songwriting perspective.
I didn’t really enjoy this.
Mott can bring out some energy for sure, but the glamour of yesteryear is largely lost in the general genericness of it all.
Little too much hairspray on this record.
# Playlist Track - All The Way from Memphis # Notes - Album starts on a cool vibe. I like the pianos and the vibes from "All The Way from Memphis". - Unfortunately, there's not much else to like moving on. - Vocals are consistently poor, and instrumentals fail to create any interest to prop up the remaining songs. - The weird "fight scene" in Violence is just awful. -2 stars for that.
Underwhelmed by this one.
Mott the Hoople, on the brink of extinction, were revivified by David Bowie when he wrote “All the Young Dudes” for them, which remains their best song. The band then took that newfound success and channeled it into a lackluster career of second-rate Bowie impersonation. Is “Mott” a bad album? No. But it’s generally uninspired. When “Violence” started playing, I was certain I’d already heard it. Turns out they just lifted and transposed the opening riff of “Whizz Kid,” from only three tracks earlier. “Honaloochie Boogie” is my favorite of the batch, and perhaps the most musically similar to “All the Young Dudes.” As if reading my mind, Apple Music started playing “Modern Love” by David Bowie at the conclusion of the album, as if to say, “This is what you REALLY were looking for.”
Not glam enough, not edgy enough. Glad Bowie gave them their hit, but isn’t it telling that they passed on Suffragette City? Meh.
Had some good moments but ended up being a lesser version of a mediocre Bowie album.
What a hoopla of a hoople!!
Don’t really see the significance of this album. It’s fine for a 70s glam rock record but didn’t find anything special
Meh, unremarkable music
The surprises keep coming ... This website is fun
Bob Dylan was in a British funk pop band. 2/5
like not great
Sounds like Bowie outtakes
Not completely without merit. Sounds like early David Bowie, but without the class. Don't think I'll be listening to it again in a hurry but worth a low 2.
Very core to the era... feels at times like Bowie, other times like The Who and Billy Joel had a Neil Young baby.
Ei ollut erikoinen
It took me three attempts to get all the way through this one...
A perfectly good glam rock record that doesn't have the one song by this artist you want to hear.
yawn
Which came first, the Bowie chicken or the Mott egg? It's the rock 'n' rolly, shouty, Sladey, early Bowie sort of thing. Decent songs, but inconsequential. Ballad of Mott the Hoople however stands out as a good song, better than the transient glam rest. Not a bad album, but a pretty passe listen nowadays.
Bland and uninspiring. Not much new or interesting. 5
Not terrible, but didn't sound particularly impressive
Eh... makes me think of when my mum puts on a song from her youth and listens to it over and over. I guess you had to be there. Kind of blends in to other glam rock (and other genres) that I am more familiar with. If Wikipedia's only reference is that it appears on '1001...' then has it really had impact? I guess it's a long list.
Listened twice and didn't really interest me. They sound like an imitation of Bowie but the tunes weren't catchy or interesting and I'm left wondering why this was included. Pretty ordinary to me.
It was a decent, theatrical album. There were a couple of good, up-beat hits and I feel like this could be brought to life off broadway somewhere. The album feels dated, belonging in a different era, and I'm not convinced of it's placement on this list. Their infamy was large part due to David Bowie granting them the rights to All the Young Dudes. I think that's all to be said about this band.
Trist!
Mott the Meh. 2/5
This was alright but they sounded too much like a knock off Bowie.
I’ve never heard of this band before yet I feel I’ve heard everything they’ve got to offer already. Fine, not very exciting.
Too British
A band that lept into stardom from performing a song Bowie wrote, striving to ride the Glam wave through its heyday. This record isn’t horrible by any means, but it’s not good and it’s relatively unremarkable. It sounds like reading the wiki page for Glam Rock. Top tracks: All The Way From Memphis, Honaloochie Boogie, Drivin’ Sister, I’m A Cadillac
This album just didn’t do it for me. I know them from All The Young Dudes but this was not that.
"All The Way From Memphis" is cool, but not much else stands out. I don't know what kind of influence this band might have had? I'm assuming there's something else that makes this album stand out or really warrant a spot on the list outside of just the songs on a single listen through, but I'm not really loving it. I think maybe I just wanted more memorability on the record? I feel like the band gels together really well and there's definite chemistry (like the part around 2:40 in the second track where the guitar and vocalist are both "singing" lines and it's a cool back and forth) but it just feels kind of pedestrian? Even though that feels pretty harsh. To me this sound is like a bunch of GOOD musicians that aren't amazing and they have opportunities to take their music to the next level (like recording at what I assume is a really good studio based on the production quality) but no one in the band steps up and ushers the overall sound to stardom. Left wanting more.
High concept and self-referential. I do like the 70s production and appreciate the restraint in "fixing" it for the digital age. The songs are kinda dumb.
Ho letto Glam e ho sperato in molto meglio
There is already too many Bowie albums On the list, therefore we don’t need albums from cheap imitation's either.
Es una declaración de intenciones que se queda bastante corta. El principio del disco no me gustó para nada pero terminé sacando dos temitas. Es glam rock, influyeron mucho a Bowie y se nota.
Mott is the sixth album by British rock band Mott the Hoople. It is a critically acclaimed glam rock album released in the early 70's. This was a great classic rock album from the golden period of rock 'n' roll. The music is well produced, making the album fun to listen to, although I didn't find any amazing tracks on this album. It's a decent glam rock album if one is into that specific type of rock music.
Toes the line between 'rips-off' and 'is influenced by.' Maybe I wasn't paying attention enough but can't remember much about this album.
1st song.... I don't think this guy knows how to play a sax 🤣🤣 a few songs in... doesn't sound like they know how to play a violin either hahaha Vocals are very David Bowie sounding and music is just a little all over the place. Again, definitely can tell this is 70s.
Imagine if Wings, Bowie, and The Grateful Dead got together and had a baby. But the baby turned out super mid. That is essentially what this sounded like. There was also a touch of Bob Dylan in there, and that isn't meant as a compliment. Two stars rather than only one because the El Camino Dolo Roso half of "I'm a Cadillac/ El Camino..." was surprisingly decent.
Oh the "All The Young Dudes" band. Is that on here? No? Aww. I wishlist was because this is all just very forgettable. Not necessarily bad, but it just kind of played and didn't leave any real impression.
Love rock but didn't jive with this, it's ok but not so much to save any songs.
Violence is the only way you'll see sense? Why do you keep saying it like that?
On this album, Mott The Hoople asks the brave question: "What if David Bowie was a slab of processed ham?" That's the review. I got nothing. "All The Way From Memphis" was pretty good I guess.
Unconvincingly haunting the no-man's land between Dylan and Bowie.
Yeah, it sounds like Bowie would try to promote this band but I’m not getting much more than glam rock leftovers.
All The Way From Memphis // Hymn for the Dudes // Violence // Ballad of Mott the Hoople // 2.5/5
I found this album dull. It was like a mix of the Who, Bowie, and Dylan, but not particularly memorable. Not unpleasant if you're into 70's rock, but not for me.
Varauduin inhoamaan tätä ja karsastinkin huumorisävyä. Yllättäen kiinnostuin I wish I was your motherista, eli biiseissä oli ihan tarinaa. Rockimmat biisit toimivat paremmin, mut kokonaisuutena aika pliisu kuitenkin.
Your run-of-the-mill prog/hard-rock, sounds a bit like David Bowie. This one just passed me by without leave any impression.
Idk, this sounded a bit lame to me. Like they're trying real hard, but not delivering. Also, the lead singer's voice sounds shot on most of the tracks (I don't hear this as an endearing characteristic). I can't say it's a bad album, but essential? No.
This was unremarkable.
I'd heard the name and always found it amusing, and I know the hit song, "All The Young Dudes", but really didn't hear or know anything else. Nice to listen to an album of theirs for the first time. I thought I might not like it but it's got some good songs on it. Bowie-esque in some ways. It gets a little over-the-top for me, but I think they kind of meant that. Definitely skilled musicians, I can really hear that.
A perfectly serviceable glam rock album, with shades of the Stones and Bowie. Nothing memorable. Favorite track: "Hymn For the Dudes"
Basic middle-of-the-road “hard rock”. Nothing special here.
A mediocre blend of Dylan and Bowie.
Top 1001? Really? It's absolutely "fine" generic 70s rock.
I've listened to this album 4 times now and every time I completely forget what this album sounded like. The only descriptor I can provide is Bowie-adjacent, and I'm not a huge Bowie fan.
C- All the Way From Memphis - 2 Whizz Kid - 3 Hymn for the Dudes - 2 Honaloochie Boogie - 3 Violence - 2 Drivin’ Sister - 2 Ballad of Mott the Hoople - 2 I’m a Cadillac / El Camino Dolo Roso - 1, there’s 5 min left and I’m already bored I Wish I Was Your Mother - 2 If you told me this was David Bowie, I’d believe you. However, that doesn't mean it was good. It was extremely boring, which seems ironic because how could something be extreme and boring at the same time. Well, I'll tell you: a group of guys made a band and wanted to sound like David Bowie. The only problem? They aren't David Bowie. It's like if someone restored the body of a vintage Mustang, but put a Prius engine under the hood. They don't the It factor that Bowie does. They aren't weird or flashy enough.
I know the band's name but never knew any songs they did or if I liked them. Thanks to 1001 I now know some of their songs and know that I don't like them.
This doesn't have All the young dudes, but All the way to Memphis is a decent song. The glam rock sound didn't have much lasting power and Ian Hunter's voice gets tiresome after awhile though, it gives me Bob Dylan-esque heebeegeebies. The only song that really I enjoyed was El Camino Dolo Roso, which is instrumental so there you go.
Just sounds like they took the only bad aspects of Bowie and amplified them to the max.
Glam rock sholck. Totally unmemorable. 1.5/5
Less than mid. It's the worst halves of Bowie and The Eagles put together in a hybrid we don't need in 2023
Glimpses of something better - threatened to be an undiscovered gem but never fully materialised 2
I am writing this in a bad mood. Does it show? An obscure album name, which almost helped piss me off before I even listened to it... So expectations low. Piano is opening track sounds out of tune, music sounds like flat boring air guitar stuff. The track title "Hym for the dudes" is meh. Got at far as the title BALLAD, and yeah I don't get this kind of 70s rock.
Very weird like David Bowie and bob dylan had a baby that I hated.
Often reminiscent of artists I like e.g. Bowie and mark bolan of T. rex but without any of the edge, catchiness or songwriting that make those groups stand out. Some decent if not completely forgettable moments but mostly I did not enjoy listening to this album. ridiculous band name.
niet speciaal
Zo een rock albums hebben we toch al vaker gehoord denk ik?
Meh. Didn't care for it and barely remember it. I like the album cover though.
A product of its time. 2/5
Boring. 2 stars.
It’s all right I suppose. Feels a bit dated.
Poor people’s Bowie
les rolling stones de walmart un peu ?
Ishhh
Didn't hate this one.
Not for me even with the hints of a david Bowie impersonator thru out the album
Typical 70s rock if you're into that kind of thing. I had only heard of their band name because it's weird, but never heard their music before. I immediately picked up on the Bowie influence. I like Bowie, but I'd rather just listen to his music than this. It's a bit boring and not really catchy, especially the first half of the album. The second half was definitely better, and I prefer the tracks that sound more blues-y. A lot of the songs just go on longer than they need to, and overall it just sounds meh to me. Also the first track has a really annoying squeaking sound at the end.
Alright.
4/10. Was Violence a pun on violins?
Came and went, nothing stood out to me Album Cover: Meh 2/5
The opening song is very Bowie, the other songs lost me though. It's not terrible, but it is forgettable and it got old real fast!
Weird that this album is on the list. Tries to sound like Bowie at times, glad I'm not the only one that noticed it
Eh. Not my thing
Not good.
A pale attempt to copy Bowie. What a dull album.
Look like a cheap band that would play in a restaurant...
Making glam rock without any catchy songs is like making pizza without the dough.
I found this one quite mediocre apart from "Violence", that song slaps. The rest was very generic "classic rock radio" and sort of faded into the background. I might give it another go, but maybe it's one of those where you had to have been around at the time to really appreciate it!
It’s ok. 2.5
Sure.
At best forgettable and at worst cloying and a waste of time. Not sure if this band is American/British but aping already stale Britpop themes isn't the way to go.
2.5/5 fine instrumentals, but nothing stands out and is overall repetitive sounding
Niet zo een opvallend album
Forgettable enough that I even forgot to rate it over the weekend, and only just now saw my error as I was trying to go rate some Muddy Waters. It had a few nice songs, but man, nothing here stood out.
Listened to on 7/11/22 2/5 Favorite song: Whizz Kid I liked the first 3/4 of most of the songs and then they took a weird turn at the end
Meh... Algjörlega barn síns tíma og eldist ekkert sérstaklega vel.
Nope
Christ alive this is bad.
- no thank you, glam rock only when its David Bowie....
Tremendously dated. All a bit silly
Honky Tock Glam Rock. No Thank You Mott.
Not my favorite 70s band. Kinda eh
Damn this got boring really quick, not bad but quite generic if you ask me
Never heard a full Mott album before, in no great rush to hear another one.
Just another bad, boring album. Horrid singing and songs. 3/10.
blah
British rock band that sounds like they really want to be David bowie 2.5
All the excesses and rubbishness of rock n roll from the era. Dull, bit shit. Horrible vocals.
Very cool
Just wierd
Really didn't enjoy the opening track, especially the squealing sax-solo portion which always gets a nails on the chalkboard kind of response from me. Seems like mediocre ballad-rock, trying to mimic a lot of other bands. I hear a bit of Bowie, I can hear some Floyd, but it's not very good. Just a band of hoopleheads I guess.
6th January 2021 Listened on my phone in the morning while doing bits of work. Jen and Laura out for the evening so chilled and caught up with sunny. Bit light and forgettable for me but maybe I wasn't fully focussed.
The worst of 70s rock, no new ideas, second and third hand guitar riffs, the most cliched lyrics imaginable that would make Spinal Tab cringe in embarrassment.
not for me
Yikes, even though my band plays some of these songs, they are not good
2/5.
Anticipated much more
Not entirely sure this is a real album. It feels like a fake thing someone would play in a romantic comedy, or it's from a fake tv show.
“Mott” by Mott the Hoople (1973) With above average lyrics and above average instrumentals and sound, this album manages to be somewhat below average in quality. But it shouldn’t be ignored. Lyricist/lead vocalist Ian Hunter provides provocative images and actual poetic structures, although he has a habit of trailing off near the end of each song with thoughtless repetitions of key phrases. Gimme some resolution, dude. Nevertheless, his lyrics are intelligent, if annoyingly stuck in the first person. For all his fixation with the aura of rock n’ roll (tracks 1-4 and 6-8), he celebrates the transcendent in “Hymn for the Dudes” (Notice that it’s not “Hymn to the Dudes”). In this slyly Trinitarian psalm (yes, actually), he proclaims “God ain’t jive, for I can see his [the Father’s] love . . . And the king ain’t lost his throne”. Then he proceeds to warn the typical famestruck rock star, “Cross over shame like the wise dove [Holy Spirit] Who cares not for fame, just for shy love . . . You ain't the Naz [Jesus], you’re just a buzz, some kinda temporary”. While calling out his peers over the delusions of stardom, one rightly suspects he’s speaking to himself as well. And listening. But the decidedly unredemptive “Violence” is a well performed disappointment (“Violence, violence, it’s the only thing that’ll make you see sense”). Just because it rhymes doesn’t justify raising it to the level of a poetic theme, dude. The album ends with the almost wholesome “I Wish I Was Your Mother”, giving voice to a longing for the kind of love formed, found, and fulfilled in family. There are a number of musical strengths on display here, including expansive guitar and horn arrangements, and chord structures that sometimes approach anthem status. Some great lead guitar riffs by Mick Ralphs add spice, and the album could use some more. The guitar instrumental “El Camino Dolo Roso” (sic—should be ‘Doloroso’) is wonderful. The same could be said about the contributions of percussionist Buffin Griffin (check out the intro to “Driving Sister”). But the biggest music killer on “Mott” is the vocal performance (both lead and male backing). The serious listener hears poor pitch control, poor synchronization, poor diction, and poor dynamic variation—a grand slam of vocal underwhelmingness. Sounds like Dylan attempting to cover Bowie tunes (Ear bleach, please). It’s a record that appeals to those who rock in their socks and roll their eyes at the questions “Which one is Mott?” and “What’s a Hoople?” 2/5
Had heard of Mott the Hoople, hadn't heard much of their music. Not impressed, but nice guitar work on All The Way From Memphis though.
MotA: Whizz Kid "Forgot my six-string razor hit the sky"
Meh
I know one song from this band. That song wasn't on this album. That's most of what I have to say about this album. There were a couple sections that were a definite "no" and the remainder felt like "meh". Sounds like a 2 to me.
OK
This doesn't have All the Young Dudes on it, so what's the point? It's such a shame Nigel has left us and we won't get a tale about when he motted someone's mum's hoople.
Bowie without the sparkly catsuits, the anisocoria and the tunes. Basically, Bowie without the fun stuff.
How are there two fucking Mott the Hoople albums on this list? What is it about this album that I'm supposed to be enriched by? There are some nice instrumentals on this album, I'll give it that, but every song sounds the same. 2/5
okay.
10/100
I don't care when a song was written, it was never okay to sing "some spade said" - I had to double check I had actually heard that... aside from the casual racism it's a dull turgid album.
Yeah, nah.
Didn’t like this at all, only one song I’d maybe listen to again
hmmp. This one doesn't even have "All the Young Dudes"... Who composed this list again?
dog shit
We get it! It's the 70s! Groovy baby. They all sound the same to me and it's unlistenable.
No me gustó para nada
Ikke bare kjedelig, tidvis slitsomt.
I have never liked Mott The Hoople. I've tried, truly, and I always think, I'll get it this time. But I haven't yet. This did not change my opinion but, rather, just (re)confirmed it. The music itself is not absolutely horrid, but Ian's voice doesn't do it for me. Plus, the lyrics are beyond puerile. I grew up in the 70s. And even back then I thought how silly and rather stupid. The guitar work is good, but everything else is horrid. I couldn't finish...I made it to Drivin' Sister. Done trying to like Mott. 0 "rounded up to" 1 star. Done!!
Not really my cup of tea…
Boring.
favs: i’m a cadillac / el camino dolo roso rating 0.4/5
As a music teacher I encourage young people to be open minded about different kinds of music and avoid saying disparaging things about music they don't like because it may be something that someone else loves. From this vantage point I feel like I can appreciate many different kinds of music. But man, listening to this was ROUGH. Where to begin... without hyperbole, the lead singer was off key for the majority of the recording. It was as if he was recording vocals completely independent of the rest of the tracks. This added to the cacophony already present in the tracks. What was with the saxophone in the opening song?? Was that squeaking sound what they were actually going for? I've heard more pleasant sounds from fourth graders picking up the instrument for the first time. A few tracks start to approach something listenable... only to be marred by poor singing or something wonky in the production. I wanted to like I Wish I was Your Mother, but at one point the guitar came in sounding like rubber bands around a shoebox. The guitars licks were super repetitive and didn't seem to go anywhere, all the while using the same two effects/sounds that often felt awkwardly out of place. This album makes me rethink all of my ratings this far. I gave After the Gold Rush two stars... but that was miles ahead better than this nonsense, which I can't seem to be able to give less than 1 star. I feel bad as I write this because somewhere, someone obviously loves this enough to include it on their top albums list.
No, you can’t get David Bowie, We have David Bowie at home.
I've never heard of Mott the Hoople or any of the songs on this album. It's glam rock for sure. Honestly, this is one of those that has me scratching my head wondering how it ended up on this list. Doesn't seem like it had a ton of commercial or critical success. It doesn't mean it wasn't groundbreaking in some way just because I've never heard of it, but I didn't see anything that indicated it was groundbreaking when I read about the album. And I just didn't think it was very good.
This album sounds exactly like the cover looks. Foppish, cheesy, completely overblown "rock star" trash.
We’ve already got Bowie on the list, why do we need this?
I decided that I don’t really like David Bowie so not surprised that I don’t like Temu David Bowie either
Straight-forward early 70's rock 'n roll I dont hear anything exceptional on this collection I wonder if their inclusion on this list is driven mainly by the Bowie connection
Horrible
Pish
This album would have been good if they didn't just blatantly rip off Bowie track for track. It also would have been better if they didn't suck at doing so. And also if they were better at playing their instruments. I guess it would have been good if a different band recorded it.
I'm sorry how is this on the list? This was everything bad about glam rock in one album. That first song was nearly unlistenable, but it kinda leveled out later into boring garbage. I know this band has good songs, but I fail to see them here. T. Rex is better. 1/5 what a disappointment
i'm rating this lower than i normally would but i'm so tired of glam rock and all of the lyrics associated with it that i just can't do this anymore
Sounds too derivative of Bowie.
Not for me. I couldn’t get into this one. Each started roughly the same and didn’t create a connection.
It's like you asked someone to take the sum total of early 70s rock and produce an average of it. Thats what this album is. Sorry Bowie, Mott oughta have split.
NOTT the Hoople.... amiright??! Because this is f'n trash.
bofff
Not for me. Cheesy and outdated
this was wsy too bowie-esque i hated it
1. Memphis - 1 2. Kid - 1 3. Dudes - 0 4. Boogie - 0 5. Violence - 0 6. Sister - 0 7. Hoopla - 0 8. Cadillac - 1 9. Mother - 1 10. Rose -1.5 11. Boogie - 0 12. Nightmare - 0 ZERO ANOTHER GROUP THAT SUCKS BALLS !!!!!!!!!
It sounds pretty much like David Bowie but a bit worse. Listen to Bowie instead. This is not bad but I wouldn't listen again to it.
This album came out a year after I was born. I've never heard of this band before and certainly didn't recognize any of their songs. It's a good classic rock album but didn't really do anything for me.
Just not good. I guess this helped pave the way for other British rock music that I also don’t like, but that’s hardly a compliment.
There is absolutely nothing special about this album. The only song I know, and I venture to guess most people, from them is not even on this album. This album took a spot that could have gone to so many other deserving acts.
Very sappy and boring album. There's an aimless quality to a lot of the songs, as they don't really go anywhere or do anything beyond what's established in the first few seconds. A lot of sameness throughout as well. Largely skippable
Just not into this glam rock, and this isn't even a great example of it. Just like a Bowie side project. Gives me the vibes of like, when rappers make it big then try to put their less talented buddies on. Helping Iggy Pop get his career going was a great move. These guys, I dunno. When this album isn't outright annoying, it's boring. Randomly, the book these guys based their name on kind of sounds interesting.
Never liked this group. At all.
Meh
Clowns with guitars
Meh
This has to be a parody right? First off, I’d never heard of Mott. So I started the album and wondered why I had never heard of them being it sounds like a familiar classic rock song. Then they sounded like they couldn’t decide who they were trying to be. I’m convinced this was made by AI. Horrible
This is the exact kind of 70s rock that I cannot stand. So glad I spent an hour listening to it.
The biggest hit on this feature one of the worst saxophone solos I've ever heard and it doesn't ever get any better
wieso? was ist an diesem album dran, dass es in die liste der 1001 gehört? für mich simpler amerikanischer rock.
70s glam rock. Im not really into it. I can see some Bowie influence, but still no.
did not care for this - had potential but the vocals and lyrics were weak
Goofy and glam in an unappealing way. As far as glam rock goes it's slightly more tolerable than average, but it has that super dated 70s sound I just don't dig. I don't see myself revisiting it.
This is ass like pink floyd if they were boring and imitating themselves ironically. Guitar parts were ok though sometimes.
There are already 7 Bowie albums on this list, no need to include a low-grade photocopy made of cast of ideas from his most annoying era as well. There are some ok moments on here (mostly the harmonizing guitars and the country excursion on 'Ballad of Mott'), but it's peak 70s bloat and not even in a particularly fun way. It's just so god damn boring. Like the soundtrack to a TV movie musical based on a movie based on a jukebox musical that couldn't get the rights for the real songs.
Mehhh. Not the worst one star of course but alas, still a one star
Boring butt rock
I can live very well without super generic dad rock thank you 👍
Heard one heard them all. Couldn’t wait for it to end
Mostly didn't care but Violence made me want to apply some to them
That a no for me, dogg
Another older album from an artist I'm not particularly fond of.
I stopped halfway through the album, it's a no from me.
Bland
Meh 1/5
In a nutshell: bland psychedelic rock. Overall: 2/10
Not my style
eh I like this type of music and even this is a little too generic for me.
Ah lads. It doesn’t even contain “All The Young Dudes”
A bunch of different sounds put together by musicians that aren’t very good. Nope.
No. Not for me.
Not even their biggest album or one of the early ones that could have been the inspo for later punk rock. Disappointing album.
No.
Typisch eintöniger Glam Rock.
David Bowie wannabees.
Not good
Buns, just some generic ass rock
Ziggy Stardust really left an impression on these boys.
No thanks!
Not for me. A little too whiny for my taste
Eh, really wasn't finding anything on this that grabbed me. Wasn't too terrible just not my thing.
one of the worst.
I have no idea at all what this album is doing on this list. At this time, Mott the Hoople were three years and four albums away from recording "All the Young Dudes" and becoming slightly interesting for a few months. This is just a pointless late-60s rock dirge.
Why is this album so hyped? I don't hear the big deal. Is it the association with Bowie? Underwhelming
get well soon nige. you haven't missed much. just a load of 70s bands doing 70s stuff. couldn't really handle this one.
