Reviews (page 8 of 13)

Classic album. Easy to listen through start to finish anytime.

Raga litterally blues in che senso pensavo fossero la band rock per antonomasia. Ammetto la mia ignoranza

Bien. Wild Horses.

Classic - all day long. Love this album. Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Can't you hear me knocking?

'Funny' how the repugnant song on here is the one called "Brown Sugar" and not the one called "Bitch".

Heard Brown Sugar more times than I need to and was honestly never a big fan of Wild Horses. Can't You hear Me Knocking feels out of place almost on an album full of acoustic blues and ballads. Knocking and Sister Morphine are my favorites.

Enjoyed this more than I expected to honestly

hit after hit, they've never been my favorite performers but I can't deny the hooks on display

Rolling Stones are great and not just a boomer band? 4/5

I didn’t know that I liked the Rolling Stones this much to be honest. Good stuff!

Classic, solid fun rock. Definition of rock and roll.

Great album but not their greatest…

wild horses i brown sugar brrrutalne pjesme, ostale imaju nekih dobrih dijelova, sve u svemu 4/5

Lekker Stones album, deze gaat vaker op!

I liked this album better than the first Rolling Stones album. I'm curious how much of my music enjoyment is circumstantial!

Good album with some classic songs. The Stones are a generational treasure.

Some of the best Rolling Stones songs. Low 4.

Brown Sugar Wild Horses Can't You Hear Me Knocking

first one?

Me ha gustado mucho. Lo volvería a escuchar sin duda, tanto para hacer ejercicio o estudiar

fave track: i got the blues final thoughts: can't see myself revisting it much i'll be real... also the sundays did wild horses better sorry

Prachtig album!

Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Can’t your hear me knocking, I got the blues

Muy buen disco, arreglos con muy buen gusto, instumentación variada. Fiel a su época.

A great album

favourite song: dead flowers never really listened to the rolling stones before but really enjoyed this. looking forward to more of them showing up here :)

- wild horses will always eat

Solid album top to bottom, with great highs and no real cuts. Would give it a 4.5 if it allowed that granularity because there’s nothing that deeply grabbed me

Excellent album. Will pick up on vinyl

Can’t You Hear Me Knocking might be my favorite on this album. The longer version is much better than the radio edit. Too much honky tonk overall. But the good stuff is great.

Really good listen for me! I already knew a few songs on here but never listened to the album in whole. Could imagine myself walking in a bar in a 1970s type movie with these songs playing in the background. I like the stones as well as quite a bit of classic rock so I think I can see myself coming back to this one!

True class rock album. the rolling stone seem to have a fun time playing it

Highlights: Sway, Bitch, Brown Sugar, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Sister Morphine. Sticky Fingers is everything you would expect from a Stone's album - a fusion of dirty blues, country flourishes and balls to the wall rock guitar riffs. I have listened to the opening track dozens of times but didn't pay attention to the full lyrics until it was time to listen to this album. Whoa. Knew that there are slavery references in Brown Sugar (which is a little uncomfortable to hear) but was completely unaware of the real meaning of "tastes so good". Younger me thought it was about interracial kissing. Nope. It is not. How naive I was. Overall: 7/10

Strong! It contains classic rock and roll, country rock and blues rock! Classics: Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Bitch, I Got the Blues Other Standouts: Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Exceptional album. I really only knew the classics... the rest was such a pleasant surprise. If I knew this album when it came out it would probably be an easy 5/5, but for me it is a strong 4/5

GREAT album!!!1971 Classic

You know how sticky it gets.

This was a good listen.

Banger Album. Fast 5 Sterne, hat aber seine Längen.

Yes!!!

De blues invloeden liggen er lekker dik bovenop op dit album. Het roept te weinig emotie bij me op om voor de 5 sterren te gaan, maar ik kan dit wel heel goed hebben.

Enjoyed this! Found out I don’t need to have MONO audio and that improved the experience In all Honesty I was doing ither things while the album was playing so I can’t comment too much, but would listen again 3/4**** Putting as 4 because it’s definitely better than other 3s I’ve done

This was a 4.5 - really enjoyed the instrumentals as well as the classics. Wild Horses is my favourite

Bien. Wild Horses.

Such a great tracking listing with a little cohesion issue. Obviously a massive winner for many reasons. Overall 4.5/5 but giving a 4.

Unlike any of the other albums so far, I did a deep dive on the history of this. I mainly got stuck on the album artwork which was created by Warhol and had a working zipper initially (removed in later editions as it damaged the record). Listened to this in the car and through headphones. The entire thing is a great listen. Would put on again. My favourite song is wild horses

Genre: Rock country (?) Instruments: 4/5 Modern Translation: 4/5 Dance Potential: 2/5 Listening Location: woodworking in the garage Favourite Song: Wild Horses Made me feel: my brain felt angsty and my body felt like I needed to passionately play air guitar to blow off steam. Not my taste in music but it’s a classic and I have a lot of respect for this band. Good mix of slow and fast songs.

The only other Stones album I’ve listened to is Aftermath, and this was a big step up from that!

Not a big Stones fan, but this record is so damn great, I’m a fan of this record. Variety of music styles and they all work even with Jaggers vocals.

My favorite of the Stones albums we've listened to so far.

This is probably my favorite Stones album. I'm not a huge fan of the Stones, but this one is good.

decent album, a little drawn out but solid listen, 3.7

I’ve never been too big into The Rolling Stones but I know they’ve had an influence on some of my favorite artists today so I have to give them that. I probably won’t listen to this album again but it wasn’t awful.

rolling

Okay. Aftermath did not leave a good taste in my mouth for Rolling Stones albums. Sticky Fingers definitely has more impact than Aftermath, as well as higher praise. I mean, it does have a JoJo stand named after it, so clearly it must be better, right? This would be the part where I break the bad news and say that it isn't, but fortunately, Sticky Fingers is a way better album than Aftermath. Everything about it just works for me in ways that Aftermath didn't. I definitely liked the instrumentation more. The brass usage was definitely unexpected, but very welcome. The writing was also immensely better. My big complaint with Aftermath is that it just hasn't aged well. While Sticky Fingers isn't completely devoid of questionable lyrics (looking at you "Brown Sugar"), it definitely isn't as egregious as it was there. The songs are quite a bit more thoughtful as well. A lot of them are about drugs, but that fortunately doesn't get repetitive with how varied the songs can be. This album isn't perfect and it is a bit too long in my opinion, but it is a pretty good album that definitely deserves to be on this list. Strong 4/5.

Bien. Wild Horses.

There are two Stones albums I like. Exile on Mainstreet and Sticky fingers. This one gets a four because Exile is my five.

Great record - lots to love. Mick Taylor is actually pretty awesome here - I always thought I was a Ronnie Wood era stones guy but I really liked this. I love the southern sound/Gram Parsons influence, and I love all the 'jamming' on this one like on Can't You Hear Me Knocking. Moonlight Mile feels almost like an Elton John track which was nice also - adding to the variety. Also can we just take a minute to be amazed at what a truly amazing year 1971 actually was! So much great music!

Очень приятные рок-треки, мне понравилось. Саксофон в некоторых местах здорово радует.

Setting aside The Rolling Stones of it all, remarkably consistent album

This is country and blues When did we forget this is rock and roll

Never been a huge fan of the Stones. I’m still not but this one was good… and they get an extra star for Moonlight Mile.

la route est longue

Minn tónlistarstíll. Klárlega. Hefði viljað meiri kraft frá þessum tíma, svolítið um lög í rólegri kantinum en samt gott stöff.

Bien. Wild Horses.

It was alright

Wild horses was added to my regular rotation.

It was fun but I don't remember any of the songs by now

Good vibes, Mick Jagger is not a great singer but there are a lot of bops. No skips but I probably would not revisit and definitely won't remember all the songs.

Overraskende fedt! I Got the Blues svinger, Brown Sugar slef god. Dead Flowers meget spøjst nummer fra Stones, meget amerikansk country

Solid.

A lot of this album feels like the soundtrack to a roadtrip down dusty back roads in a old rusted pickup truck. I think this is their first album without Brian Jones and you can really feel it. Lots of straightforward bluesy rocky chorus verse stuff, but really the best version of that. The standout songs are when they add a bit more instrumentation like on Moonlight Mile. That's a really great song. Other standouts were Wild Horses and Bitch

Initial thoughts, very classic sounding to the point where the first song reminded me of two other songs from that era. Brown Sugar gave me "Hot Blooded" by Foreigner(1978) vibes and "Go All The Way" by Raspberries(1972) vibes with the cadence and the strumming and probably the key they played in(I can't tell for sure). Both being from the 70s makes me think that's just the sound folks chased. I will note though that the Rolling Stones did seem to get to it first in terms of the chronology (1971) so it's possible given how popular they were back then that Foreigner and Raspberries could have been inspired by the stones! I guess their song formula kind of formed the foundation of a lot of rock moving forward? "Sway" reminded my a lot of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" by Bob Dylan(1973) Probably because there are progressions that are just a step apart from each other ha! Speaking of vibes: I'm getting like riding a motorbike in a movie where you're the main character going on a cross country trip by yourself. It's got a lot of moments where I want to be "present". Though I'm not sure if it's because movies over-use this type of music in those scenes or if this music naturally lends itself to that kind of feeling. Mick Jagger's voice is pretty dope I can see why he got popular back then, though I have to wonder how much cocaine was involved in their early years haha Standouts: * Sway -> I liked how it built up and I enjoyed the solo at the end * Can't You Hear Me Knocking seemed like a Jam Session at the end which was a pleasant surprise! The Bongos(?) and shaker(?) and the Sax coming in were a fun addition. * Wild Horses: I had a realization that Bill And Teds' "Wyld Stallyns" was probably a play on the name of this song haha * Moonlight Mile: so bluesy, I liked the instrumentation a lot. Kinda felt like end credits for that movie vibe I was getting This is a 4 for me. I respect it for it's role in forming the foundations of what we view as rock today. A fun and honestly educational listen

Classic Stones, it is great. Second side isn't as strong as the first.

Mehrere sehr coole Lieder aber es war nicht so ein geniales Gesamtkonzept

"Brown Sugar" and "Wild Horses" are absolute smashes. "Bitch" should have been a much bigger song the the lexicon of music than it is. Great album and classic album cover.

Some great songs on here, but Brown Sugar did not age well at all. It’s a good album, but maybe not their most influential. The cover art is iconic, though.

Hate to say it but there was a reason Mick jagger fucked 14 year olds with no consequence. The rolling stones are good. They changed the landscape. It's not mind-blowing if you have a basic idea of what settler colonialism is but it's still good rock n roll music.

#24. Definitely one of the Rolling Stones best albums, and Wild Horses is probably my favorite song by them. 4/5: fantastic

magical

Great second half especially

Brown sugar, Wild horses, Bitch o Dead flowers. No hace falta mucho más. Nunca he sido fan de los Rolling por lo que no conozco sus discos en concreto pero sí sus canciones y las que incluyen este disco creo que lo hacen uno de los mejores que he oído por ahora.

An excellent Stones album, worth all the credit it gets!

A fairly solid rock and roll album. I particularly like wild horses.

I’ve never been a fan, I thought all the songs would sound like Brown Sugar and Start Me Up, and I just don’t love the headliners like that. So I’ve never listened to a full album before! After that, I get it now. Sway’s awesome guitar solo at the end, Wild Horses-just classic, and even more songs opened my eyes! Yay, because I’ve inherited numerous Stones albums, so now I can enjoy them hahaha. Listen again: yes Purchase for my collection: own it Favourite Song: Sway

I’ve Got The Blues is my fav

Terrific. The first 36 seconds of Sway alone earns a high rating and places this at the top of all albums.

Can't You Hear Me Knocking is one of my all time favorites and the country blues rock vibe on tracks like You Gotta Move and Sway is a nice example of the band's versatility. Not sure if this is their best album but it has to at least be in the conversation.

Good deep tracks on this one.

Very very good I enjoy all song I think

Really strong album… as always, the co-opting of the blues by white guys is a trigger for me, but they do do it well… Wild Horses is just so good. Feeling nostalgic for the past just listening to it…

I knew the hits, but I'd never sat down and listened to a whole album of theirs. I understand why people are obsessed. Rating 3.8.

Wow love the song writing. So many great lines. Very old sounding but as good of that sound as they could have done. Will need to relisten to fully appreciate the song writing

much better than i was expecting! will have to give it another listen

This album rocks! The bonus album with the live version of the album is also excellent!

Lots of bangers on this one, and its definitely an album I've listened to before.

This album is always great listen

i didn't grow up listening to the rolling stones but this album was pretty solid. starts off super strong with the classic brown sugar (which admittedly hasn't aged super well, unless that's part of it). sway, wild horses, and can't you hear me knocking are also great tracks. it gets a bit boring after that, particularly toward the end of the album, but i can see how these have stood the test of time. favorites: brown sugar, sway, wild horses, can't you hear me knocking

More bluesy than I expected but still had some nice rock throughout.

It is yet again, a great Stones album. All time classic album with an all time classic album sleeve.

Classic banger

Sleazy gold.

I didn't know so many of the hits on the radio was from the same album

Pretty good

I thought it was super good! I really liked how the guitar in a lot of songs was constantly changing and being more than just back ground instrumentation as showcased on wild horses. It feels very full and fun and exactly what I want a Rolling Stones album to be.

77 / 100 A consistently great album, but lacks any standout moments to make it more memorable

Some big hitters on here (Can't You Hear Me Knocking is a fav). Great solo to end Sway. Second side brings down the tempo but may be more interesting. Worth revisiting.

It’s a good Stones album, not at the top of my list (Let it Bleed) but still quite good. This is a hornier Stones album, there’s not only a good view of a dick on the cover but lots of brass on this one, really well utilized on Can’t You Hear Me Knocking. Sister Morphine is a track I forgot about and really enjoyed. Wild Horses is a classic and it’s a good tight Stones release. 4 stars

Very good

I always love The Rolling Stones.

Muito bom. Um clássico!

Actually pretty good. I was never a big Rolling Stones fan, but I definitely enjoy this one.

Peak Stones. Everything seems to work. Dodgy lyrics on Brown Sugar.

it was alr

Great album with energetic tunes and some balads whose variety and quality will keep you engaged throughout. Truly a timeless classic!

They have always appeared to me, since my entrance into this world, like horny cadavers singing bluesy pastiches of black American songs. After this album, all I can say is what songs they are! Thoroughly enjoyable, enormous soul and delta blues influence, tightly produced but cool, very listenable. An altogether very good album

Liked it, nice mix of feels within the blues rock style. Brown Sugar and Wild Horses stand out as you'd expect but show off very different aspects of Jäger/Richards' writing. Couple of jam-style tracks feel like filler material though.

Better than I thought it would be

Leans too hard into the blues portion of blues rock, haistappa vittu, olet saatanan tylsä paska ja päätös on LYÖTY. mönkijällä verehille... kikkeli paistaaa kuvassa, skinny mf... mick jagger saatanan permanentti cutti päällä sen takia ei ole GOAT sen takia john lennon on goat FAT AS FUCK JOHN LENNON...takes the cake niin sanotusti heh. albumi alkaa parilla heikolla biisillä, paranee huomattavasti cant you hear me knocking

Saw the band name and was immediately filled with trepidation. Was unnecessary though. This was pretty enjoyable, and maybe because this week has been so poor, probably a stand out album. Not sure if I'll listen again but I do think it's good.

Rock. Blues.

This must be the best Stones album I've tried, end to end. Super polished, confident, showy and groovy all at once. All this despite Brown Sugar makes me wildly uncomfortable...

Although I was never a big Rolling Stones fan, what I can I say about this album? The opening track "Brown Sugar" is an all-time classic. I also quite like "Wild Horses". I also like the blues tracks, such as "Can't You Hear Me Knocking", "You Gotta Move", and "I Got The Blues".

Rolling Stones er konge 4.5

Hate Brown Sugar but love Moonlight Mile so.

Not keen on the last Stones album but this one was just at the right time with a mixture of styles and genres. Good to listen to.

Pretty much like every Stones album, some absolute gems with a bit of filler.

Classic

A classic record and still one of the best by the Rolling Stones

Classic stones. Some absolute bangers but nothing inoffensive. Stones B sides are so easy to listen to, I’d love an album of their blusier songs

Torn between 4 and 5. This is the most consistent Stones album I’ve listened to IMO. The musicality is amazing. The riffs and jams are solid. I’m going 4 but could have said 5 on another day.

Best songs: Wild Horses 8/10 Can't You Hear Me Knocking? 8/10

Rolling stones for a reason

If it ain't broke...

Superb album from British rock royalty

This was a great album. So many good songs and to think it came out in ‘71.

The only stones album I've heard is Let It Bleed, which I really loved. Excited to see how this one stacks up! The record kicks off with "Brown Sugar." It's a certified blues rock classic, though it can definitely be an uncomfortable listen. I have to lean into good faith and assume this is some very pointed satire, especially coming out in 1971. Soon after we get one of my favorite stones songs with "Wild Horses" I think I still prefer "let it Bleed" but that could change with future listens

Classic

A lot of diversity in style in this Rolling Stones album. Quite enjoyable. Dead Roses is a favourite.

I mean it's Sticky Fingers

Enjoyed this album all the way through. It's such a classic. WAAIIIIIIIIIILDDDD HOARRRRRRSSESSSSS

Great album, a classic. Not their best in my opinion but lots of great songs.

Very fun album. Very interesting to hear such a heavy American influence (blues, country, etc.) from the British rock legends.

Wow, The Rolling Stones can make a good album... Never knew

A really great offering from a band who were at their peak. Brown Sugar and Wild Horses lead the way, along with decent blues numbers You Gotta Move and I Got The Blues. I also like Sway which features some extended soloing from Mick Taylor (or is it Keith?) and finishes strongly with Moonlight Mile. Every so nearly a 5*

Yet another huge band who I've largely ignored, yet again I'm pretty impressed and left wondering why I hadn't been arsed to listen earlier. Some very good tracks here. The jangly guitar ones don't exactly do it for me, but they have enough going for them that I wasn't put off like other jangly guitar from this era. 3.5 Fav track: Moonlight mile

Tough one to review - a shaggy album that takes multiple diversions in style, some successful, some dodgy riffs on genres they don't have a handle on. Includes some elements of jammy 70s rock that don't appeal to me. However, the ballads really brought it home for me, and I thought the album finished incredibly strong. In short, it won't be one I'll listen through to often, but certain tracks are real winners. A strong three and a half. Fave track: Sister Morphine

First proper listen to a Stones record in full. Hate to just jump on a bandwagon of praise, but I did really really like this. Can’t decide whether side A or side B is better honestly - great songwriting throughout and have a sneaky feeling some tracks will continue to grow on me. Four and a half. Fave track: Moonlight Mile

Typical Stones album: has a couple huge hits (can’t you hear me, wild horses, brown sugar) and some of the dumbest blues songs you’ve ever heard (you gotta move, I got the blues). Never listened to Sway all that much but really enjoyed the groove this time around. Can’t you hear me knocking has a similar mid tempo groove that fucking rips. The first half of that song is peak rock n roll. The riff is great, the drums are simple but groove, and kick jagger adds a ton of attitude to it. Bitch gets right back into the rocking songs after the shit show of you gotta move but is followed up by another couple dull songs. Those ones aren’t as bad just not great. Dead flowers has always made me laugh and is a funny fake country song. Moonlight mile is a classic sounding album closer. Good album that could be great if you trim that fat and replace it with one or two more well written songs. Like I said though that’s just about every stones album. 👍: can’t you hear me knocking, sway

One of the legendary Rolling Stone albums. To be honest, my story with this album is not the most special -that place belongs to Exile in Main St.- but have to recognize the pedigree of this work. With their most memorable tunes included , such as Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Can’t you hear me knocking, and Dead Flowers, and little to no weak songs, this is one of the most solid albums from the 70s

Hard to imagine a world without some of these songs.

Great straight-ahead rock music with strong moods. One star deducted for the annoying delta blues pastiche in the middle which kills the flow for me. When I want that, I’ll listen to a proper blues album.

Dope af, thoroughly enjoyed it. Really easy listen with tons of awesome moments.

Really like this album, good mix of the classic 'Stones' along with some more mellow stuff and even country.

-It’s clear why they’re one of the GOATs - They effortlessly create groove - Love the sound of the drum kit

Смишной дурашлевый альбик 8/10

Love the penis, iconic album art, very homoerotic (which is a good thing) Very clearly a bridge between the music of the late 60s and the 70s Definition of Rock n Roll, iconic for a reason, at the peak of its genre I'm not the biggest fan of that kind of rock though, thinking like a stron 8/10

Dig it

Classic. Lots more blues/jam than I expected.

I mean it's a perfect sounding album, but you have to take away a star for the lyrics on "Brown Sugar." Even the band is embarrassed enough to no longer play it live. It's unfortunate because musically it's a joy, but it's foolish to ignore what is being celebrated in the lyrics. Best to consign that one to the past.

Not a total fan of the Stones and this album has bad memories as I had to work all my Easter holiday to buy the album for someone because someone stole the copy he lent me ! I do love the riffs of Don't you hear me Knocking and Gimme Shelter ( not on this album) so I'm going high 3, could be low 4.

Classic

Overall pretty strong album. Very bluesy at times. Brown Sugar lyrics are pretty dated but the groove is good. Have it on vinyl and will listen again.

7/10. Dead flowers is excellent, the rest is pretty good.

8.5/10 muy gueno tiene wild horses y la cancion racist. dms consistente y 0 skips

good but not their best

I actually really wanted to be Mick Jagger this past Halloween because my hair worked out quite conveniently and I do love the Stones. His voice kind of reminds me Neil Young's, it lowkey kind of sucks, but his songs make up for it. This one's a keeper; 'Sway' and 'Sister Morphine' were my highlights. And by the way, Mick Jagger is not Kesha's dad. Do not let untitled2 fool you with such damaging misinformation.

I urge everyone, men and women, to go commando. I know you may be thinking, “that’s poor hygiene!” Well, actually it’s not. It’s actually more hygienic because underwear is a hot bed for bacteria. When you’re commando, your jennies have room to breathe. Also, it feels much more freeing and there’s a sense of loving your body and living proudly in it when you go commando. I task everyone with trying to go commando. Try one day, one week, one month, one year. Whatever let’s you sleep at night, hopefully you do that naked as well but that’s besides the point. Try it out in jeans, khakis, dress pants, sweatpants, daisy dukes, whatever the hell you want. Trust me, you’re gonna like it more than you think.

Good rock album. I was listening to this at the perfect time on the road. My favorite song was “Moonlight Mile”.

Initially I was, like 'oh no a Rolling Stones album,' but this was very good. Brown Sugar is my favourite song.

This really feels like a complete Rolling Stones album, full of swagger, sex and soul. Good stuff

DRUGS!! very lovely album, interesting psychedelic ideas. just generally very pleasant. And yet, so rich with sadness and frustration. Very beatles inspired but with a sorrow all of its own.

4 3 4 5 2 5 3.5

This is the Rolling Stones at their prime. Before they became parodies of themselves. Before they became drug-addled, age-ravaged puppets on spitting image. This may be their most downbeat album, but it works for me. Sister Morphine and Wild. Horses are still beautiful pieces of music.

Come for the rock, stay for the blues.

Classic Stones

Really good. Liked the bluesy parts of this one!

Very varied

Great album, more blues inspired than I thought it would be. Brown sugar, sway, wild horses and can’t you hear me knocking are brilliant. 4.5

Such a heinous southern accent. 9/10.

A southern drawl hoedown for the ages offering moments of pure jubilation and devastating sadness.

Can´t deny it´s good music, more bluesy at times than i thought. Just not a fan of Mick´s voice.

Well old this lot

Surprised how much I liked this.

Classic jams. The horns are a fun addition but don’t add to the overall rock feel.

Can really hear the southern blues influences

Starting off with the controversial Brown Sugar - gonna be a good one. Stones are always good.

I ended up liking this more than I expected. Organs and horns add a lot to the Stones' sound and work beautifully on the album. Great guitar work as usual from Keith Richards. My only real problem with it is the songs that veer more towards country/honky tonk and the use of slide guitar, which I have never liked. But even these songs are still good, and the album really works as a whole with them there.

Starts off with iconic guitar riff in "Brown Sugar," other standout is slower "Wild Horses". Occasional older, folkier sound to offset the rock and roll.

Obviously, GREAT album. Forgot the hits in this one. Solid 4. T3B 1. Can’t You Hear Me Knocking 2. Wild Horses 3. Brown Sugar

4.5 only because Sister Morphine, like most drug songs, is only good for titillating adolescent boys.

The album really is classic Rolling Stones and if i close my eyes I can see Mick Jagger jumping around on the stage which is always a good time.

This album is difficult for me to review. I am rather fond of The Rolling Stones and their approach of making, “bad music,” appeals to me personally. That being said: the starting years of The Rolling Stones was influenced by a lot of albums that did not pleasing, even to the ear of the untrained. In my opinion, “Sticky Fingers,” is one of the better albums they have made. 7/10

Suena como me imaginaba que sonaría un álbum de ellos, me gusta el sonido de las guitarras y saxo asi como las las influencias de otros géneros que se dejan ver en algunas partes

No duff tracks on this album with some absolute classics like Wild Horses and Brown Sugar. What's not to like about this album

Some of my favourite Rolling Stones songs

Liked Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Cant You Hear Me Knockin

Pretty good album. Hits are great, rest of tracks are decent. Favorite track: Can't You Hear Me Knocking

I always thought that the Stones were incapable of making an album that was great from beginning to end. This one is no exception. While the first 4 tracks are amazing, it does have some filler here and there. Not as much as on Beggars Banquet, but still. This is a really good album and certainly one of the best for the Stones, but I still maintain that's it better to listen to them via compilations than with proper albums.

One of my favorite Stones albums! You can’t go wrong here. Some tracks stick out more than others but still a great rock ‘n’ roll listen from top to bottom.

Highlights: Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Can't You Hear Me Knocking

I know this album very well. Dead Flowers brought me to it. For the longest time, I was a stalwart of it is the only one worth listening to. The remaster of Exiles changed that opinion for me and opened up the rest of their catalog outside of the greatest hits.

Despite some uncomfortable lyrics, this album rocks good, the stones almost at their finest

Except for the appalling racism, a fine album.

Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking and Bitch all on one album. And the rest is solid too.

I've never really got the Rolling Stones, but listening to this it's finally clicked. An undeniably great blues rock record that is both dirty and raucous, and tender and pretty. My personal highlights are the more tender moments. Wild Horses and Moonlight Mile stand out but there's hardly a weak track on the album and the balance of hard and soft on this record is perfect. Rating: 4/5 Playlist track: Wild Horses Date listened: 16/12/22

Top three stones

Fun for running errands

brown sugar tho wtf....

Finally I listened their album from start to finish

Catchy chord progressions, moody blues, and sick dirty riffs that certainly don’t belong in 1971!

It's hard to believe we really heard this and thought "wow those British dudes sure are creative and groovy."

Classic and full-on Stonesy - it's the non-hits that drive the quality, really – though it's not their absolute peak. One feels the need to shower after hearing "Can You Hear Me Knockin'".

Maybe I've listened to too much stuff, but I don't feel too interested in The Rolling Stones anymore. I can recognize this as one of their best works though. Favorites: Wild Horses, Dead Flowers, Moonlight Mile

Although I'm familiar with most of these songs I'm not quite old enough to have ever seen the album itself. Looking at the cover art now I find it quite obnoxious. Learning that the album cover featured an actual zipper you could unzip -- that's uber obnoxious. Kudos. Brown Sugar is such a great opening track, provided you don't listen too closely to the lyrics. Wild Horses is another complete classic and I've always loved Can't You Hear Me Knocking. I've always felt pretty take it or leave it with the Stones, but willing to acknowledge that they do have some truly great individual songs. Listening to Beggars Banquet earlier in this pushed me a little away from them, to be honest. But Sticky Fingers is a solid argument for why the Rolling Stones very much do belong in the pantheon of all time great rock bands.

Sway on levyn kontekstissa soulfilleriä, Wild Horses yliarvostettu ja Can't You Hear Me Knocking aikansa vakiofunkkia. Toisin on B-puolen laita.

Super upbeat happy music. I haven’t really given the Stones the time of day until now so it’s super refreshing.

Back in the 60s and 70s, people thought they could be either a Beatles or Stones fan. I leaned more into the Beatles camp. I didn't HATE the Stones, but I didn't know them as well as I probably should. A number of the tracks I recognize, but did not realize the titles ("Bitch," for example). Three songs I was not a big fan of: "Wild Horses" (had heard it before, it seemed like a forced country song) "I Got The Blues" - the lyrics felt a little forced, and the conclusion was kind of clunky "Moonlight Mile" - the ending kinda trailed off. But most of that is quibbling the strengths of this album: "Can't You Hear Me Knocking?" "Bitch" "Sway" "Sister Morphine" It's weird to hear "Brown Sugar"now, since the Stones have retired that track since they felt it's so... problematic. But it's still a great track. The minor quibbles I have with the album aside, this would be one of the albums I would have people start with for the Stones. Solid effort by them.

There are some real beauties on this album, just oozing old time blues rock. Brown Sugar, Can't You Hear Me Knocking (awesome guitar work), Bitch. So good. So classic Stones. And there's some good ballads too with some real deep lyrics. Wild Horses, Sister Morphine. Though not quite as good, respect for some of the more straight ahead blues efforts like You Gotta Move and I Got the Blues. Don't forget where the Stones came from, and blues is it. I was close to a 5 but I feel like I gave them a bump on another album that was maybe just a 4, and not all Stones albums should be a 5.

Between 3&4 but felt the class deserved a 4

4/5. There is a lot to love on this classic album. Brown Sugar is an iconic classic. Wild Horses is one of the top 10 Stones songs of all time. Bitch has a familiar riff that makes me feel like I know the song, but I really don’t remember ever hearing it before. I Got the Blues sounds so Ottis Redding-like with out being a rip off. It is a perfect tribute to a master of soulful blues. Can’t you hear me knocking is two songs in one: the song and the jam session. Just imagine what we have lost if they didn’t keep recording after the main part of the song was over. Dead Flowers, shows how versatile the band can be. Rock, blues and now country….Sticky fingers gives the listener one joyful surprise after another. And at no time does the listener get the feeling they know what is coming next. The album winds down with Moonlight Mile, a soulful rock ballad that gives the listener time to reflect on what they just took in during the previous forty minutes. I can just image listening to this album for the first time back in 1971… hearing the final song fade, listening as the needle makes it was to the end of the album, the arm lifting up and start moving back to the resting place. I would have probably been chilling on a bean-bag and would have just sat in silence for a half hour only to get up, flip the album over to side 1 and start the journey again.

Solid blues rock record.

Arguably my favorite stones album, not really anything bad to say about it.

I expected this album to go into 3 star rock hell, but it was a bit more interesting than that!

Classic. Can't You Hear Me Knocking has always been a personal favourite!

I've listened to quite a bit of The Rolling Stones before, but never sat and listened to a whole album cover to cover. Right off the bat, I knew Brown Sugar, Wild Horses, and Can't You Hear Me Knocking. I enjoyed the country/blues feel of the songs You Gotta Move and I Got The Blues. Sister Morphine is a beautifully sad song about drug addiction. The way the song starts slow and melancholic, and continues to build as the lyrics spin a tale of desperation and desire adds to the beauty of the track. Bitch and Sway both had rockin' feels to them. I enjoy the addition of brass instruments by times (mainly in the song Can't You Hear Me Knocking) Overall a great album. Got me familiar with some of The Rolling Stones lesser known tracks, some of which are gems. Favourite songs: Brown Sugar, Can't You Hear Me Knocking, Sway, Bitch, Sister Morphine, Wild Horses Least favourite song: Moonlight Mile 4/5

One of their best

À mon avis, le meilleur des Stones. Les tounes ont des arrangements superbes. C’est très réfléchi comme album. Les solos de guitare et de hammond et de sax (oui, de sax) sont malades.

Lekker potje muziek

Lekker bluesy

I've never actually listened to a Rolling Stones album in full. This is a band that I've just never been a huge fan of in general for reasons I can't explain. I knew the hits off this album but the non-hits didn't do anything for me. It's still good music, but it just doesn't excite me much in any way.

This album has its issues but a lot of it is great. Wild Horses and Dead Flowers are two highlights, and Moonlight Mile is a perfect closer

Stones, baby! There's some pretty great guitar sounds on this album. Richards is by no means the best player, but I do like many of his licks; it's really hard to beat Can't You Hear Me Knocking.

Liked this more than I like most Rolling Stones. Actually was pretty good. 3.75/5

Just really good stuff. Terrific songwriting and playing, and the pacing is perfect. If you’ve been rocked too hard, it’s time for some well-placed slow moments, and then back to the groove. The Stones at their best mayb. A-, could be an A and 5 stars but I need to hoard these better

Moonlight Mile is SUCH an amazing song... definitely bumped the whole album up an extra star. The rest of the album definitely wasn't my favorite of what The Rolling Stones has in their arsenal but still always solid music

I love a classic rock blues sound. Their music has survived decades and that’s pretty remarkable

Too many good tracks on this album to let the "meh" ones bring it down. Just a pleasure to listen to so much of this.

Brown shoogah, good album, more easy to listen to than other stones albums.

Really great - the Stones have got such a great sound, and some real tunes.

Good all the way through, nice to listen some Stones songs which aren't that mainstream

I loved this. What a band

Banging!

Banger. Et av de store albumene fra min ungdomstid.

One of their less annoying ones, this has some good stuff on itm

Good stuff. Impressive cover ;)

Probablement le meilleur album des Rolling Stones que j'ai écouté à date. Je comprends pourquoi c'est souvent lui qui est mentionné quand on parle d'albums classiques du band

S Tier = Brown Sugar; Can’t You Hear Me Knocking; Bitch A Tier = Wild Horses; Sister Morphine B Tier = Dead Flowers; Moonlight Mile C Tier = Sway; I Got the Blues D Tier = You Gotta Move AVG SCORE: 3.4 / 5 --- I've always appreciated the Stones' impact on music, but have never been what I would consider a "fan." I'd wager that my familiarity with their work is only slightly above average, and many of my favorites are in lock-step with pop culture. Seeing "Brown Sugar," "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," and "Bitch" on the tracklist brought a big smile to my face -- they are my top three Stones songs, after all -- and "Wild Horses" is one I can enjoy when the mood strikes, so I knew from the outset this would be a fun time. But I was also pleasantly surprised by the haunting "Sister Morphine," which instantly hooked me on my first listen. "Dead Flowers" and "Moonlight Mile" didn't quite have the same pull, but they were absolutely serviceable cruising tunes. Really, with the exception of "You Gotta Move," I could just hit shuffle and let this album play without skipping a song. And for that reason, I give it a bump to 4-stars.

CANT YOU HEAR ME KNOCKIN

right off the bat you could just hear rock and roll which is just everything i look for in an album. it was pure rock and it was good.

Not really a Stones fan here even if I'm likely firmly in an ideal demographic.... but this is *the* album. No 60s polite rock, no meandering like they were about to bore me with on "Exile..." - this is 45 minutes of mostly to-the-point grimy greasy excellent bluesy ROCK. Virtually every song works and there's a decent flow to the album, especially the first half: from the killer opening single of "Brown Sugar," the mellow "Wild Horses" through the groove of "Can't You Hear Me Knocking" and rollicking "Bitch" it's a great collection. Strong American blues/country influence throughout - although at times a bit too much - e.g the painfully slow bluesy tunes do nothing for me (e.g. "I Got the Blues" and "You Gotta Move" which also seems a bit too derivative) - and the 2nd half drags a bit but this might be the album to give the casual rock fan / i.e. someone who isn't always convinced of the Rolling Stones (e.g. me). When they were on like they were here, they were tough to top. 8/10 4 stars.

So far, so good Moonlight Mile is quite boring Brown Sugar is a blast

4 Bought this album when it came out. Bitch was the reason. Brown Sugar got more play but seems problematic. Several other good-to-great songs, some beautifully done- Wild Horses, Sister Morphine, Dead Flowers. But like many other Stones albums, some ridiculous crap- You Got To Move.

This album was pretty good, enjoyed Wild Horses and can't you hear me knocking the most but probably preferred them due to familiarity

classic and iconic. fave track is moonlight mile.

First album on this list! Enjoyed hearing the guitars at different spots in the soundstage and being able to tell exactly where and how they interlocked. Sister Morphine is the standout for me.

This thing rocks, great tunes all throughout with some solid slow jams as well. Highlights: Brown Sugar, Bitch, Wild Horses, Can’t You Hear Me Knocking

swing and hard with gender

Its back to basics for the Stones and it results in this truly classic rock album with several of their best songs. When they were at the top of their game they were quite arguably the greatest rock and roll band in the world.

I always think I don't like the Stones, and then I listen to them and remember I like them a lot. Wild Horses might be my favorite track of theirs ever. What is it with every single 70s/80s rock group having an album cover that is: JEANS?

Tää oli loistava. Sopi hyvin pidemmälle ajomatkalle ois mielellään kuunnellu pari kertaa, mut levykertymää piti ottaa kii

I didn't know I would be a fan of The Rolling Stones! Obviously I knew a lot of their songs, but I always thought of this band as a generic 60s/70s rock band. And I was wrong. Sticky Fingers is a joyous album, mixing some classic blues melodies, a little bit of rock and everything rolled in a juicy Mick Jaggers vocals. The album is a real even mix of blues and rock, and the perfect example of it would be 'Can't you hear me knocking. The flow of the song and the feeling of an extremely well oiled blues improv make it my favourite on this album and probably favourite from the band. Only issues I have is that Jagger's vocal is tiring you in big doses and the 'only' rock songs are a bit underwhelming. But still, really solid album!

Uujee! Rakastan! Todella hyvii biisejä. Ei ihan täysien pisteiden arvoinen mutta erinomaisen hyvä. 4/5

Vähän epätasainen, mutta salee paras rollarilevy Exilen kanssa.

Erittäin solid rokkilevy

Some skippable songs, but overall incredible vocals and progressively more progressive.

Probably my favorite stones record I’ve heard so far

Good listening, classic rock is always top shelf.

A classic album from a legendary and influential rock band. Not much else to say.

This is a classic stones album! I’d highly recommend giving it a listen!

Brown Sugar is a great way to start this album. I like this track! I will definitely listen to this album again.

a true classic of rock and roll. 8/10 album

Cool album, probably fun to listen to outside at night drinking beers. Really liked the last few tracks

Plusieurs classiques ici comme Brown Sugar, Wild Horses et Can’t You Hear Me Knocking. La pochette est emblématique. J’aime particulièrement la version en vinyle où il y avait une vraie fermeture éclair sur la pochette.

It’s basically a greatest hits album, and there are definitely some great songs. Wild, Wild horses is always great. Brown sugar is beyond problematic but at least they’ve retired that song concerts??

this was really refreshing, i’d never heard any of these songs before and enjoyed the album a lot

Classic, solid and good all around. But I'd give 5 stars to something like Exile, and that's not to say this one doesn't deserve it.

First good Rolling Stones album 4 I really enjoyed this one.

Brown Sugar is as hard and vulgar as the Stones get. Wild Horses is as beautiful as they get. A great album.

I super don't care about the stones. I think they are interesting, but shit feels and sounds so old it's almost country music to me lol. I don't know, not for me I guess.

Inicio de los Stones. Un 4.

Bien. Wild Horses

also so good.

Pretty sweet album. I think it’s the first time I’ve listened to a Stones album so I was happy to get into it. A decent amount of variation in the songs, but still everything is so well written and executed. The slower cuts were more appealing to me but the heavier ones still were quite nice. 7/10

Such a good album-- really defined their sound.
