Reviews (page 7 of 7)

Inget kul.

Lol this band sucks. Sounds like lazy rancid kareoke.

Not really for me

One of australias most important rock bands. Also boring to me.

Not great. Did not finish.

Another one where it sounds good for the era.

A couple of fun songs, but, overall, just more reinforcement of the reason I do not like punk.

Täähän koittaa ammentaa samasta osastosta ku johnny thunders ja hanoi ja new york dolls. Mun korvaan jää vähän vajaaks silti. 2/5

Just sounded like generic punk music to me.

Another shitty punk album like this couldn’t have come at a worse time. Having to go from an actually fun 70s rock album to a shitty one really sucks because I was just desperate to go back to T. rex after every single one of these ass songs that all sounded the same. The fact that it sounded a bit closer to 80s post punk and used a couple of unique instruments are the only silver linings to this album.

Zo'n half dronken stem en middelmatige nummers. Wat doet deze plaat in onze lijst?

Wel oké.

Feitelijk gezien is hier dus eigenlijk maar heel weinig reet aan. Of misschien wel geen reet.

It was fine, very punk. Not really something interesting or new though if I wanted this type of music I’d go a couple albums back. It was fine though.

It has always been too hard and depressing for me.

Fine, but not my cup of tea

Fav song: memories are made of this

2.0 - 2.5

Pretty good for a punk album but that’s not saying much. 2.375.

This is how it feels to drown in sewer sludge.

p418. 1978. 2.5 stars Well done Aussie punk, with some decent tunes and added horns. Probably fantastic at the time, but sounds dated now. Not on the replay list.

Best Song: No, Your Product. A slightly more likeable Ramones. Worst Song: Private Affair. I mean he's literally just talking in this one. Overall: Who is out there campaigning for this forgettable album's inclusion in this list? Is anyone truly excited by this fairly paint-by-numbers punk band? It's just so extraordinarily okay.

14th September 2023 Listened during the day. Can’t remember what we did! Baby innit. Punk rock with a brass section - should be all over this but felt incoherent. 2.5 if I could.

Eternally Yours, by The Saints, is very meh. It is kinda fun, the sounds and vibes. The guitar riff’s and drums are nice, but the singing is subpar. The only song where the band is somewhat appealing is Lost and Found. Otherwise the British band seems to lack coherence and reference with the instrumentals in the songs. All in all, Eternally Yours is a bad album. Best Song: Lost and Found Worst Song: No, Your Product

Average punky sounds

No standout songs. Maybe good background music.

I had some hopes here, it never happened. This isn't terrible, just bland.

not for me.

Olvidable

Not great.

I was immediately gripped by the brass section and became more and more disappointed as I realized how little it would be featured on the rest of the album.

Mid punk album. Sure why not. Idk why it’s on the list. Best song: No, Your Product

Not as terrible as some punk, but still not great.

Not typically a fan of punk but this was interesting. Excellent musicians. Didn't appreciate the vocals much. Dylan singing punk?

The songs could have been better if it was sung in a different style.

Australian Ramones, I don't like the voice of the singer, not my style

Not a big fan, though the robot song was funny.

Hard to put my finger exactly what I don't like about this, but I find it exhausting and the horns don't help.

Glemte visst å rata denna. Hørte kjapt igjennom igjen, va kje så minneverdig

Du punk classique.. Know your product qui sort légèrement du lot, mais album pas écoutable en entier. Du cramps, sympa 3 minutes tous les ans

Of all the Aussie albums out there, this is the one you choose to force me to listen to?

Jackson: Hmm punk. Eh got 5 songs in and gave up. very linear between tracks it felt. No fun, no, no likey. Favs: Zilch Least Favs: The next song Overall: No no no. When am I going to like punk, maybe never its so annoying especially albums like this. Need something that transcends punk. 2/5.

Rock punk, un poco rollo. 2

It's... fine, I guess

Looking at play counts- I'm assuming this is a 1-hit wonder type of thing where this album has one song that is just so good that it warrants placement on this list (I'll be the judge of that!). The first track has 3 million plays on Spotify and the second highest on the album is 300k. I don't always look at the play counts (they're just so dang visible on Spotify) as I think they have the ability to persuade a listener, but I don't think it's too bad to sometimes know what are the big tracks on a record you don't really know. The first track had a nice riff. "Memories Are Made of this" was pretty good. I liked the chorus. "A Minor Aversion" starting with an A minor chord is really nice for me as a music theory nerd. I feel like this is punk without the attitude? The album was just OK for me.

I was bored for this album.

Good, vintage punk

old British Rock..meh

Not for me

This album feels like a bit of a boring misappropriation of the punk musical vocabulary. Maybe it’s an interesting transition between the more straight-ahead rock of the 70s and the glam rock of the 80s, but I just don’t find it that compelling.

this felt soulless which, more than anything, is unforgivable if you’re trying to make punk music.

I didn't like this much.

not my style

É isso, mais um disco punk-rock interessante, mas que não vai ficar na lembrança.

Aussies never really got punk. This was probably recorded wearing denim. There are some decent melodies. The horns section hinted at where Crazyhead lifted their ideas from. I lost a little interest towards the end - not a good sign for an album that is 36 minutes in duration. I looked at picking up a £2.50 eBay CD. £150. No thanks.

I don't always listen to such rock musics, but this is very fresh for me. new for me. not so bad

I don't know.

I spoke to soon on the country music. I’m cursed. How can there be this many British rock bands?

Eh, not too much here for me. I'm getting jaded with the rock stuff lately, just not a whole lot of character. There are a couple on here I liked, and lots of it felt like it would be right at home on a Tony Hawk game soundtrack, but a whole album of this didn't hold my attention. Favorite tracks: New Centre of the Universe, Untitled. Album art: Kind of cool, and for better or worse could predict exactly what was in store based on this look. The font and layout of everything is pretty nice though. 2.5/5

Two separate listening sessions confirmed I can only handle 3 songs before the vocals become grating.

An ok punk/new wave album from a band that sounds like a proto-INXS. A lot of the tracks start of promisingly but then fail to live up to that initial promise.

You don't understand! They had class. They could have been contenders, they could have been somebody, instead of bums, which is what they are.

it just smells that way

Punk rock, non troppo aggressivo. Carino, ma niente di particolare. 2/3

Quite Ramonesy. Not a suprise given the year it was released. Some good tracks, but too many throw away ones for me

Highlights: Know Your Product Artwork: 5 / 10 Rating: 2,5 / 10

It is a punk rock album. I was not familiar with any of the songs. I don't think I know any other music by The Saints. The album was relatively short and it was alright.

Dime dozen punk rock

More of the same crap. I'm getting real cynical toward 70's-80's punk/post punk/alt stuff from this list. The integration of the horn section was good, I liked the moody songs somewhere around track 3/track 4 but not really impressed.

Hmm, I daresay it was better at the time.

Eternally Yours by The Saints (1978) I like the horns (some don’t, you see—pigeon holers think they’re not ‘genre appropriate’).  This fast-paced Australian rock delivers well-aimed complaints against deceptive advertising, systemic exploitation, freedom-denying conformity, and manipulative lies. And that’s just side one.  Snarly Jaggeresque vocals, proto-punk power chords, sloppy lead guitar garnishes, and other typical rock stylings. Nothing fancy, but plenty of energy.  In “Orstralia”, we hear a nice, perverted, patriotic anthem “We got no problems, got no wars/And you don't need your brain no more. What’s not to like? And for a (small) bit of a change, the track “Untitled” is a love song carried by speedy 12-string acoustic that somehow manages squeeze in some anger and angst. Poor girl! The closing track “International Robots” suitably and not subtly demonstrates that The Saints don’t take themselves too seriously. Nor should the listener.  This is serviceably mindless music for uptempo driving when you really need to get somewhere fast.  2/5

Not my usual cup of tea, but a surprisingly musical punk album (I enjoyed the horns and harmonica). Like a lot of punk, a few songs were pretty indistinguishable from each other. But I liked Lost and Found and Minor Aversion. The last track seemed suitably Australian

The hardest yet for me to get through. I dunno if it was just an off day or I just really didn't like it that much but it was all pretty forgettable to me and sounded just like everything else that would be in the same section at the record store 🤷🏼‍♂️

Typical punk music. Messy, atonal vocals, thrashing guitars with only a semblance of rhythm. Pass. Not one-star, but hard pass.

Really wanted to like this and it wasn’t bad. I’m a huge fan of all the old school punk lately and I even gave this a second listen to see if it would grow on me but it just came off generic and like a less fun Ramones. It didn’t really stand out for me Fave tracks: “(I’m) Misunderstood” “International Robots”

Pretty average punk style album. Some songs had good instrumentals and there were riffs that resembled that of grunge. Other songs had the classic 70s foreign punk style. 5.7/10

just really whatever early rock. It's not really that great not bad background music I guess, but it goes on forever Sort of sucked, didn't enjoy any of it, but at least got through it all

Pop-rock-y. Ok.

Not as bad as I thought it might be. Still, a little goes a long way. While I can appreciate it as a groundbreaker, it’s not something I’d listen to again.

Speed was evidently a factor in picking their drummer. Or their dtug of choice. Either way

Not my thing, probably someone's.

Somewhat repetitive punk that fails to capture both the aggression and politics of classic punk

eh, didnt enjoy it that much

No clue and honestly don't want to spend any more time on this. Liked some of the songs but it just dragged on too long for my liking

¿Punk australiano? ¿En 2009? Primera noticia Fali. El disco original eran 13 canciones y en esta versión extendida llega a las 27 y una duración de algo más de una hora. Suena bien y es interesante conocer grupos de los que no tenía noticia.

This was just an ok album, it didn't grab me like some of the other albums did, kinda unremarkable.

Not my #1 fave. It would do in a pinch. But I don’t see myself pulling this one up for fun.

- yeah this is alright - I hear some Pixies in here, maybe they influenced the pixies - "Run Down" harmonica is like King Giz - not bad overall

So much of this depends on the mood you're in and yesterday me was NOT IN THE MOOD.

punk q n deu certo

Alkuun oli ihan jeekkiksen kuulosta, mutta kokonaisuutena tasapakasua ja mielenkiinto lopahti kesken. Ei jatkoon.

By 1978, punk rock had actually already run its course in the UK, but the shockwaves of the movement and its music (though ‘punk’ doesn’t necessarily mean ‘punk rock’, but that’s another matter) were sweeping across the world and had evidently reached Australia by 1978 as well. And so ‘Eternally Yours’ by The Saints sounds just like the tracks that were already being successfully marketed by the major record labels at the time. I’m certainly no expert, but the brash attitude and simple music naturally bring to mind the Sex Pistols or the Ramones, without quite matching their raw energy. Terrible music. No matter how noble and important the punk scene’s cause was, the music is unbearable. Even more unbearable is the digital version, which, alongside the regular album, contains the same noise – only in poorer sound quality – as “International Robot Sessions” as bonus tracks.

What a dreary cover. Shocking.

30 canciones no tiene sentido lo siento mucho el titulo supongo que no sera nada cariñoso, es porque es tan PUTISIMO largo este puto disco de los cojones que por asoiciacion eres 'eternally his'

Fuck off

Sorry but Saints are not my cup of tea. Perfectly authentic punk when punk was still cool in the late 70s. And I like that they were such an authentic Aussie export (oye oye oye) one of very few to make the list, overcoming a significant northern hemisphere bias. But I just can find the hook to get into this one. Maybe it’s just me and I’m simply not punk enough.

Another noncey album? Seriously?

Bruh these kinds of albums are so boring to me omg. Why is every other album on this website sounding like this one.

Eternally Yours 1. Bleh dont like and I don’t like the strange way hes singing 2. He sounds like so strange like he has a lisp I dont like it 3. Bleh 4. Bleh 5. Okat but I dont like it still 6. Meh 7. I just really cant stand this guys voice 8. Bleh 9. Bleh 10. Yuck I hate his voice 11. Its okay but not good enough 12. Yuck 13. Hate 14. Yuck I hated this a lot

3/10 - painful, generic punk

I have no interest in finishing this one

This group reminded me of The Clash, The Ramones and mild Sex Pistols.

Utterly unremarkable

not for me, thankfully wasn't too long.

Not my cup of tea.

So annoying

I listened to about three songs, sounds like shlocky punk pop music, not great.

Finde ich recht langweilig. Muss ich nicht hören.

Shitty hipster punk

At least it's not a British post punk? Its much more how American punk evolved, but there is one song that sounds exactly like the music on handyman hal and my two year old has destroyed me from that sound. Plus how many punk bands from 1975-81 are needed on this stupid list? Disco exists?

Know Your Product This Perfect Day

A punk record that gets lost in the flood of 1978 releases. The Saints may have come all the way from Australia, but here the energy feels watered down, the songs blur together, and nothing leaves a lasting impression — especially in a year overflowing with both punk and the first wave of post-punk records.

I’m meh about this album. Just not overly impressed. I’m sure they made waves when they were around but now this music is dated and boring.

Opening track is alright, with the horns. Didn't care for the rest of the album. I just can't get into punk. 1 star.

Meh, nothing to enthralling for me. Had a hard time focusing on the songs before getting distracted with something else

How on earth did this Aussie band from my youth get on this list when Midnight Oil, a hundred’s time superior, doesn’t? (Or I couldnt find them on the list, anyway). Headbanger stuff and not very good at that. Forgettable 1

I am not a fan of punk rock. I don't like the vocal and the throbbing beat.

Same drum beat for every song with some moaning in the background.

It's a lot of fun, but the singing sucks lol. Replace the singer, and I'm probably having a good time with this album. But the singing is such a problem that I can't even find a song that I think is the best. The horns are a pretty cool addition to an otherwise pretty standard punkish album. Elaborating on what I dislike about the voice: it's just really lazy and poorly enunciated, and it ends up making a really gross end product that makes the album not really worth listening to. Favorite Song(s): Orstralia

Wow, what a drag. 'Know Your Product' was the only song that at least had something different with the horns and more of a "grandiose" feel to it. The rest was just fast paced punk that flew completely over my head without any types of hooks or bringing anything different to the table. Like, why is this album on the list at all? Strong 1. Extremely boring and unjustified place on this list in my opinion.

Yucky yet again! Eternally not mine. It’s chaotic in a bad way. Like I couldn’t keep up and didn’t want to. Just lousy and lame.

Low-rent simplistic nonsense. Fine at best which generously would be some random 20 second span, but mostly boring - can't really distinguish it from <petulantly throws down a shitty list of 50+ previous entries in the British - OH NO I'M SO SORRY THEY'RE ORIGINALLY AUSTRALIAN sigh - 1970s punk "legends" bin that you've only heard of if you're super cool or if you stuck a pin up or twisted it through your arse in 1979 but what's the gd difference> any of these other ~35minute pointless forays through 4 chords and terrible denture work. meh this sucks. 3/10 1 star.

That album didn't call to me at all and went on entirely too long.

ЕЕЕЕЕЕЕЕ, ПАНКИИИИ, ВОХУУУУУ Дрянь скучная и однотипная.

Awful. Music ok but "the singer" can't actually sing. Anyone can shout shit like this.

I just don't like this kind of punk. It lacks any musical complexity and doesn't have great guitar solos

started. but got distracted by DAVID GILMOUR. He released his new album today LUCK and STRANGE. Just not going to finish whatever it was I was listening to.

Listened to the album, rock from the late 70’s. Not impressed.

Feels like a wack ass Sex Pistols. The songs are only like 3 minutes a piece but they feel so much longer because they’re wack. Shit you not, thought I was listening to the album for 20+ minutes after the first two tracks. Only six minutes passed. Ugh.

Too repetitive for me.

All songs sound the same. Rock that I can forget easily.

Saai en vind zn stem meh

I just couldn’t finish listen to this, hurt my ears. Clearly it’s difficult to get good singers, even if the rest of the band sounds good. But what the heck do I know about music and singing.

the fuck is this. It's bland skapunk

I hate 98% of this websites user base and their tastes this is so bad

did not like it at all

Punk is not for me

Every song seems to be the same.

Not on Apple Music

Just noise

yikes no. Wow do I hate the vocals. The beat's great, love the guitar, but oh the whine grunge. And I /like/ wangst. Do I love the guitar though <3. Just every time the lyrics kick in its like slimy sandpaper. Run Down is the first one with barely tolerable melodic vocals. but it might be that it is just mixed to minimize it under the harmonica. ooh, the intro to Untitled. The vocals are so much better. Seriously, this song alone is adding a whole star.

1.5. Not very novel

Hmm not for me.

Not my style.

Never heard of The Saints. Not sure why they made this list. Punk rock, that’s why. The dude on the cover looks like Robert Plant and Joe Elliot had a love child and it was born an adult in the late 70s. Problem was, he didn’t get the vocal genes handed down.

Not my cup of tea.

Blergh. Just some regurgitated punk. I listened to the first 40 seconds or so of the first 6 tracks. That was more than enough. On some tracks the instrumentals sounded absolutely decent, such as on the 3rd and 5th. But then the vocals kick in and well. Blergh.

Consistently bad throughout.

STOP GIVING ME PUNK ROCK

Like the psychedelic Pop of the 60s this New York rock Proto punk genre is one of the authors favourites unfortunately this is just same as lots of others. Cover art. As bad as they come 1/5

Beim 5. Stück ausgemacht. Eternally insufferable. Ideenloses Gitarrengeschrammel.

Boring, and didn't enjoy this.

I guess the horn sections in some tracks were interesting but otherwise this is not extremely original or engaging

Didn't like anything about this one. 1/5 stars.

ruim e infinito

I don't think I'll ever understand punk. This is the musical equivalent of watching concrete dry. Maybe it was good live? This is unpalatable and I barely got through it. All the songs sound exactly the same.

Able to stick with this longer while working than a lot of garage punk.
