Reviews (page 6 of 7)
Eh
Pretty fun punk-rock album. "No You're Product" and "I'm Misunderstood" heavier than the rest of the album, but also my favourite songs on the album. Found the first half of the album was a bit samey, 2nd half more enjoyable.
Fun to dance to but fairly repetitive. That’s punk I guess
Feels like we've had quite a few albums in this genre now so I was a little bit disappointed when it came up, however, I actually found it quite an enjoyable album, kind of feels like early pop punk at times
There doesn’t seem to be much that’s special or interesting about this (apart from the couple of tracks featuring horns - definitely under-utilised!) so I’m not sure why it’s on the list. That said, I didn’t dislike it in any way; it’s decent for what it is. So that means… 2.5? 3?
6/10
Decent enough bit of punk, but couldn't distiguish much between the tracks.
Waffling between a 3 and a 4 here. I’m a sucker for that 70’s punk sound, which this delivers in spades, as well as enough variety to spice things up. But the songwriting is pretty inconsistent here. It also lacks a certain “it” factor for me that really pushes contemporaries like the Damned and the Sex Pistols to the top. Overall enjoyable, if flawed.
Perfectly fine. It has a good background edge, but in the foreground honestly sounds like it would be used as a backing track from an indie movie in the early 2010's.
Very similar to like Rancid and The Ramones but without quite as much pep.
Inte bra inte dåligt
Ugh this looks like it's gonna be some sort of early punk shit like the Stooges. Yep that's exactly what it is. Not good but it's not bad Apparently it's Aussie so I guess it gets an extra point for that. 3/5. Also fuckin lol @ the guy who got offended at the word retarded in one of the songs, and even called it "the R word" in the review haha.
6/10. Forgettable.
Enjoyable enough punk but I won’t listen to it again. 6/10
This is pretty fun. I’d heard that opening track before and had no idea it was called that or was by this band. Good tune though. There’s also a song that straight up sounds like The Strokes. Was this band the Australian Strokes of the 70s? Hmm.
Quite punky but actually enjoyed it. On the listen again list!
Typical sounding punk sound.
First listen 3/5. My kind of music!
3.8 - I appreciate this more than lots of other punk records that fixate on punk style (wearing cool clothes, looking tough on the street, being part of the club circuit). These tracks explore more of the punk ethos and mindset - rejecting consumerism, rejecting social norms and expectations. As a band, these guys sound more cohesive than some of the fuckboys that crowd the genre.
I didn’t know what to expect but I quite enjoyed it
Was not super engaging. Like a boring version of the clash
Not sure how I’ve never heard of the Saints before. Solid album.
another rock album, catchier than most so that's good. still some parts sound the same and also the singer sounds like he has a clogged nose most of the time
Early punk, with added horns, but still feels more punk than ska. Very interesting. I was continuing to dig this, and then the R-word pops up prominently in track 3. Sigh. Still, a solid album overall. It took a couple of songs to get used to the vocals, but they grew on me somewhat. Second half wasn't as strong, but I actually really dug the horns and harmonica mixed with classic punk.
Aside from track 3 (yikes!) this is a fun little album.
A new band and new music for me. I hear some things that remind me of something coming some where in between the Ramones, the New York Dolls and maybe the Strokes? Nothing stood out as being great or bad. The album was fine.
It was alright. Early punk rock.
meh
Good old fashioned punk rock. Took me back to the 70s
pretty average punk, or PAP as it should be known. didn't hate it so thats good.
Yeah, it's ok
Production: 11/20 Songwriting: 10/20 Innovation: 8/20 Bangers: 5/20 Emotional response: 11/20 =45 Not unpleasant, just completely underwhelming.
Kinda sick of punk by this point
To be listened again.
Cool oldschool punk. I was surprised by the horns in the first track. And no, I had no idea about this band, don't remember having ever listened to it before. I might've read about it, perhaps. But all in all I liked it!
Me recordaron un poco a Save Ferris, o a The Knack.
Standard but solid garage-rock fare.
Somewhat repetitive sounding, not my favorite punk album.
This doesn't sound like the 70s, but more like the early/mid 2000s indie rock phase. Bands like the The White Stripes or The Strokes spring to mind. I hadn't even heard of this band before, I don't know how they fell by the wayside and aren't more popular and talked about. I like lots.
Good old punk rock. And some of the songs have horn arrangements. Pretty neat.
Rock bem bom
Algo como Ramones, cru, bacana.
classic punk
didn't listen to the whole thing - not bad
Honestly, outside of International Robots, a song that the band is clearly laughing and stumbling their way through because of how goofy it is, there isn't really anything interesting or unique here. This is a 70s rock album that sounds like every other generic 70s rock album.
A very meh punk album. Not too many stand out moments but not offensive. 2.4/5 -> 2/5
Nice background music, for about half an hour. Then it becomes annoying. Voice doesn't stand out.
Punk rock with some instrumental melodies thrown in. Still pretty ass. 1.5 stars.
kinda generic punk. The last track is lightly noncy?!
All these old punk albums start to sound the same after a while, this one especially doesn’t do anything special enough to warrant being on this list in my opinion
This is one of the best punk albums I've listened to so far. Liberal use of the word "retarded", probably wouldn't be ok these days. 13 short songs....that's a punk album. I like the more punk songs than whatever you'd call the other tracks.
I appreciate being exposed to The Saints. But I’m not likely to listen again nor recommend to others.
This album is way too long for how mid it is
Its a very fun punky vibe but the album itself isn’t doing anything for me
wanted to give 3 stars bc the band was solid but took one away for letting him be the lead singer
Not my fave
Punk rock, wszystkie piosenki na jedno kopyto.
Not bad, I like the horn section. Kind of like if The Clash were a ska punk band
A punk album that gets really close to SKA in some parts with the horn instruments. Even that didn't draw me in enough though. Punk is a genre I have trouble getting in to and while this was definitely something that was more along my lines its still the punk feeling that I don't enjoy. Technically the singing, the playing, the mixing isn't bad. Its just me who don't really like listening to more than a song at a time at most.
A bit samey - repetitive tunes and sound - nothing special for me - probably have to go 2
really one note for me idk it all blended together. What was going on with the robot one. Robots don’t sound like that. That’s not a sound robots stereotypically make
I ran out of time to listen to the back half of the album. This didn't really distinguish itself, and was pretty mid. I didn't mind listening to it, but I wouldn't again.
This felt a bit on the ska punk side of alternative rock. This vibe has a cult following for a reason. Not in my wheel house and trying to assimilate it into a daily listening routine would not be attainable.
I feel like I'm listening to Lane's band in Gilmore girls. Sure, it can get the crowd going, and I feel like going to their concert back in their time would be a fun vibe. especially with the harmonica. But listening to is as an album just isn't it. I don't get his voice. And is this another europe invasion album? The guy that made this sure does have a certain taste.
Punk with horns, ok good for them. Still dont like punk.
The first band on this list so far I was unaware of so went in with no preconceptions. Felt like some sort of punk - lite to me, not quite raw enough to scratch that itch and not quite musically or melodically interesting enough to sit as a good rock / pop album. I sort of wanted to like this but to me it sort of sounded like a Crowded House trying to sound like The Stooges - sounding like one or the other is great, but the middle is meh. 2.4
>horns Yuck
keep tryna listen but i just can’t get thru it. wish i liked punk
this is fine but uninteresting. (i'm getting punchier with my 2s for ok-but-dull albums!)
A lot of early punk is too 1-dimensional for me and this was no exception. If you like it, I get it. But this felt like a 40-minute song and was not memorable.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater Music (derogatory), still playful campy fun tho
I guess there were multiple songs on this thing, but they all just kind of sounded the same and blurred together into one 40-ish minute song with surprisingly little variation. But I guess that's just what mediocre punk is like.
Just how much boring punk rock are they gonna add on this list? Like sure if ur a fan of the genre it’ll be just another album you’ll like but I don’t think it’s got enough merit to be on the list.
clairement pas ma cam, hyper répetitif.
I prefer their debut more, I found this one largely forgettable. The Saints are definitely the most famous/important of the early Aussie punk bands but I prefer Radio Birdman over them. Rating: 2.1
Eh
Individual songs are 2s and 3s The album as a whole gets a 2. It was fine, but I was relieved when it ended
Didn't care for it, but wasn't terrible
It was punk and glam in the wrong ways. I did not care for it so much. Not bad. Not good.
Nothing special to me. Another late 70s punk band
More saxophones than I anticipated. Faves: Untitled
Like a clash covers band with far less skill and song writing prowess.
Todas las canciones suenan igual perdón
That sure is punk rock.
It has been years since I have listened to The Saints, but never have I ventured onto their sophomore album Eternally Yours until now. As many others have pointed out the opener, Know Your Product, is by far the best track here and everything else really doesn't seem to get the memo. It also doesn't help that Ed Kuepper tries to make himself seem like a competent singer when he just does not have the vocal range he thinks he does. A lot of the instrumentals really highlight that as it moves away from the Punk Rock sound into a more Soft Rock sound like on A Minor Aversion that really highlight his weaknesses. It isn't a bad project but it doesn't feel as well thought out as The Saints' debut album by any means. It feels more like a passion project for Ed and while I respect that idea, I do think that there should have been more review of this album as a lot of its' problems stem back from how the band's vocalist presents himself here. Eternally Yours is not a good album by any means, but it is also far from being a bad Punk Rock album, just a misfire if anything.
Doesn't sound groundbreaking and don't think i'll get a lot of enjoyment from it in the future. A couple of good tracks though.
I feel like they said “let’s make an album that sounds like The Clash but since we aren’t anywhere near as good as them let’s just make the album really long”
no lo terminé 🥱
I appreciate the energy here, but it's not for me. This album sounded like the band at the dive bar where everyone gets completed blasted out of your gourd, and everyone has a good time, but NOBODY remembers what happened. And because this was before cellphones, no pictures were taken, so you make up your night. But you KNOW you had a good time. My Rating: 2/5
Like -- this was fine. How many punk albums are we listening to here? How many were actually pioneering? First track made this seem like it was about to be a lot cooler than it was. This was decent. Fave tracks: - Know Your Product - Private Affair - No, Your Product - Run Down - Orstralia - Untitled - (I'm) Misunderstood - International Robots
Know Your Product starts with in-your-face horns that carry the melody. This a pretty smooth and accessible version of punk from Down Under. Lost and Found is more traditional, eschewing the horns now but it's still a bouncy romp with a solid rhythm section. After this it's mostly punk with some jangly alternative stuff mixed in. The horns reappear at some point, and there's a harmonica in at least one song. I don't dislike this, especially A Minor Aversion, but it feels very inconsequential. Or maybe I just don't _get_ punk rock. I wouldn't be mad if someone put this on, but I'm never going to reach for it myself.
2/5 Know your product e Orstralia até que são divertidas, mas as demais faixas são monótonas. A gravação é terrível.
Nothing certainly bad or good, just decent, but i dont Think i will listen to this again.
I liked the first one but then I kinda tuned out, it all turned into a Ramones type buzzing.
It’s okay but not something I’d return to, and the singer grates on me
it's exactly what you think of when you think run of the mill punk rock... and it's in 2009. why is it on this list??
Punk clasico.
Still don't like punk rock.
The Stooges? No? Alright. It just didn’t connect with me.
The one thing this list has taught me, is that I'm not a fan of punk. That being said, this is one of the better efforts so far. Some decent songs here, ropey vocals but that's par for the course in this genre. Particularly enjoyed the cover of River Deep Mountain High, which was very unexpected. Overall a middle of the road 2.5/5
Nice!
another punk band?? enough
Listened Before? N Eh. It was fine. Australian guys trying to sound like Sex Pistols with horns. Not memorable. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Know Your Product
Really cohesive but can be a detriment. I unknowingly played the expanded edition and got a few tracks in before realizing it was repeating (2.5/5)
The punky tracks on this Australian band's album from 1978 are fairly ordinary, with lots o' loud guitars but no memorable hooks to speak of. Better are the new wave / power pop tracks like "Memories Are Made Of This" and "A Minor Aversion" which are more melodically developed than the nondescript punk numbers that make up the majority of this record.
★★¾
Eh. First track was interesting but it didn't really grab me after that.
70s punk is better than current punk but that doesn't necessarily mean it's good.
The vocals felt too childish for me
Not very good.
Instrumentals are decent but I just can’t get behind the vocals. He gave me the ick
The man is a genius. But I’m not.
I’m so WHAT?! Fuck you asshole hold this 2
A lot of noise, not great vocals, not impressed.
This was really monotonous - I kept skipping songs halfway through. Felt like once you heard one, you heard them all.
I hadn't heard of these guys before. The first Australian punk band! Great thing about punk rock is you can look up "First punk band in {country}" and get a fun little history lesson. Anyhow not sure if there is anything earth shattering this album, but it's good early punk though — you can listen to this and still enjoy yourself. 3 seems about right, here.
All these songs feel fresh out of an action movie, specifically when there's a chase at the beginning. Favourite track: Untitled- 2004 remaster
I put this on without researching anything about it. The remastered album on Spotify has the year listed as 2009, so I saw the cover and thought, ‘damn, some band I’ve never heard of trying to capitalize on punk nostalgia. This is guaranteed to feel inauthentic.’ The music started, and still thinking this was recorded in 2009, I literally said to myself ‘this would’ve been great if it came out in the seventies, but considering this is only fifteen years old or some shit, this sucks!’ Around track three or four, the singer starts calling people retarded, and I wondered, ‘were people still saying retarded in 2009? Maybe that was the tail end of that phrase? What bad taste, either way. They should’ve been more culturally aware, and the 1001 albums people should’ve been aware, yadda yadda.’ By the time I realized this was from the 70’s, and therefore was true-blue grade-A punk, the damage had been done within me. I had a negative experience with the songs and can never go back. It still sucks they called someone retarded in a song over and over, regardless of the year. I don’t really want to listen to that. Would I have been more open and accommodating to this had I known the recording was actually from the 70’s? Probably yes, which I think exposes something problematic within myself which I now have to work on. Thanks Saints. The emotional and intellectual situation you’ve put me in, now that’s retarded!
Niet mn ding
Got off to a strong start; I enjoyed the brass on Know Your Product (did it inspire Dexys' Geno?) but everything after that was a bit disappointing.
Guitar is good but a lot of the songs sound very similar. Not my cup.
Nice sound but nothing stood out to me.
Spoko granie. Słychać cechy charakterystyczne dla punk rocka. Tempo, bicie, prostota kompozycji. Dla mnie jednak bardziej jako historyczna ciekawostka. :-)
Blech. This felt so generic and uninteresting. I don’t know, maybe just me.
Punk/rock/garage, not sure. Dudes hopefully learned a few more chords later in their career.
Tough listen on this one. So brit rock sounding (its australiam) but just misses the mark. As a wise woman once said “the stones and the kinks but 10 years too late”. Zero tracks saved. It also repeats a lot of songs.
Wannabe stones/kinks but emphasis on wannabe
Forgettable
Punk. No my favorite genre
Meh
Listen to the first track and you've got the gist. Dull.
Mycket repeterade låtar i remastern
Maybe too head banging to have before cup of coffee
This album did not impress me. So, I really don’t know what to write about it.
Im not a fan
++: Know Your Product, Run Down, (I'm) Misunderstood +: Lost and Found, Private Affair, A Minor Aversion, No, Your Product, New Centre of the Universe, International Robots +-: Memories Are Made of This, This Perfect Day, Orstralia, Untitled 5,0/10
A garage band that never really needed to leave the garage.
ok I guess...
One saveable song, don't see why this album is on this list. Proto shit?
Maybe just not in the mood.
This sounded like one continuous song
2.5
Sounds ahead of it's time, but still sounds like punk.
Meh
2/5
Not bad
Punk music with a horn section! I was at university when Punk took off so Punk music was hard to avoid but I don't remember this band, but that could be because they were from Australia. It sounds a bit dated now, and it's a bit boring, but not too bad.
Not much to say - neither amazing or bad. Good energy. Maybe great when it first came up but unremarkable now.
Groupe inconnu. =>2/5
wow a punk rock album unheard of
not bad, surprised i'd never heard of them
I can see why, but very samey after the first few songs
It's fine. Didn't really move the needle for me, though.
I appreciate the energy here. The band is talented. But they’re commitment to a particular punk sound gets tiresome over the course of this album — too repetitive. Plus, it’s punk. A 2.
Disappointing
Here's another punk rock album that is fine and would have been enjoyable had you been into that scene back when it was a scene and this album was new and fresh and you were hungering for more stuff that has echoes of The Stooges, but with some melodic outbursts. 48 years later, in the context of this list, it doesn't do anything for me.
I did not enjoy it.
Mew. Sounds like any other punk band from the late 70s. Some tracks reminiscent of the talking heads
Agfange met em erschte Song, esches e rächte Banger. Vorallem dä 80er vibe wos eifach abgod esch sehr geil. Dä, obwohls ned nome es Schlagzüüg ond Rockgitarre beenhaltet, wos vermuetlech vorallem so 80er mässig lönd lo töne, sondern äbe au Blöser. Wenn de t Stemm chond tönds de zwar weder plötzlech sehr britisch (obwohl t Band en australischi esch) ond erenneret sehr a Bands wie the Libertines. S andere hemmer jetzt halt scho meh als einisch gha, au wenns emmer e chli andersch tönt: Es schlönd eifach alli Intromänt of einisch of eim Ih. So fühl ech mech rächt Orientierigslos, was au devo chond dass jedes Lied e chli ähnlech tönt (was wederom of die Ondergehendi Melodie, wo sowieso ned bsonders guet esch, ond die emmer gliichi Intromäntwahl zroggzfüehre esch). Es esch eifach erschöpfend för t Ohre ond ech be froh gse, wos de ändlech döre gse esch. So hani de s Lied "Untiteled" scho fascht weder schön ruhig gfonde obwohls au ned s liisligschte esch. Es ged aber au mängisch e chli Rueh was es scho mega ufwärtet. nichtsdestotrotz heds nome e begränzt gueti Melodie, wo vorallem us es paar Akkörd bestohd, ond so ned wörk hangebliibted. Ech gebe i dem Albom 2 Stärne.
i couldn’t really get into this
Meh. Not a bad sound but feels derivative for 2009
Lotta ideas and good sounds. Kinda Strokes & Iggy Pop vibes for late 70's and Australia. Had fun listening to it and bet it'd get really good with a few more listens. Not on par with the greats of all time... yet.
One of Australia's top punk bands, the Saints never made a lot of noise in the U.S, but their influence can clearly be heard in a lot of other bands.
I can tolerate this, one of the more listenable punk albums but if this project has taught me anything it's that I'm not a punk.
It was fine. Not very memorable. Felt like a chore to get through.
You'd think Punk of all genres would be less formulaic, but no, every single song sounds basically identical. Meh.
This is kind of a nothing album.
alright. doesn't move me at all though
I can’t do another one of these hair bandesque type
not 4 me
This is #day384 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... as much as I love this period in music, this record has mostly left me indifferent. At times, I heard echoes of Magazine, the band from around the same time I like, but otherwise, I have little to say. At least I learned that Kurt Cobain included the song "Know Your Product" amongst his top 50 records of all time. This is a 2 out of 5. Looking forward to #day385.
Guy on the cover looks tired. He sounds tired too. Punk without the oomph. At least it's not the British pop girl group The Saints, which is what I feared for from this list when the name came up.
This is like having your own unique personality but then going to school and finding out the things you like aren’t cool. So you stop collecting Warhammer 40k and start doing what the cool kids are doing, in order to fit in. You manage to keep up appearances and fit in with the popular crowd, but your heart isn’t really in it.
Eternally bores Maybe I'm asking too much of punk as a genre, but do all of the apparent "must listens" have to sound exactly the same? I know there's better stuff out there, I've heard it
interesting album, enjoyed the trumpets. enjoyed it less after hearing the vocals.
Ok
Loud and discordant. Not a fan of punk.
Initial reaction: cool riff & love the brass, vocals not it.
This album has its moments, but there were definitely "how is this still going," which I think says something about an album that's only 36 minutes long. This was too good for the ⭐⭐ rating I'm going to give it, but not good enough for ⭐⭐⭐. 2.75
I likely wont listen again. I did not like anything about this really. Not the worst, but wasnt good
Away from home on walking holiday in Lake District so had to shove this on whilst on the fells in over 25 degrees of heat. Punk not normally my barrow but this album surprisingly helped my yomp. Not your common a garden 3 chord songs but a lot more sophisticated bordering on the best The Ramones managed. All in all good for what I did today but on any other not an album I would buy or listen to again. 2.5/5 10/7/25
A bit repetitive and not my style
Just not my kind of music
I didn’t really enjoy this.
Not that great lol. But tolerable
Sounds like they missed the 70s British Invasion… did not like this.
Rock and roll. It felt pretty generic to me.
Long album of Australian punk music. One track I liked was 'No, Your Product'
Doesn't leave a lasting impact, but it's a a simple, enjoyable punk album
Meh
Not quite sure on that one...
Maybe punk isn't good
Either it's something to do with the albums included in this list or I'm just never enamored by early punk records. This album is honestly just boring to me.
More mid. Shame.
Meh, some bit of this was okay musically but I wasn't a fan of matey's vocals
Felt like there was a little bit too much going on and made it hard to focus on. 2.5/5
pass
The opening track is the clear highlight, but after that, the album loses some steam. The added horn section brings a punch and energy that really elevates the songs - without it, the tracks feel far less engaging. It’s a solid punk record with some standout moments, but it doesn’t maintain that initial spark throughout.
Decent record. Good energy and variety. Nothing really stuck out but the album overall was a vibe.
Yeah not it
When the Modern Lovers toured Australia, only 4 people went to see them, but they started a band.
eh
Pre-listening thoughts: and with that, we’re back to 70s punk. What would this list be without one hundred 70s punk entries? Post/during listening thoughts: this guys voice is really annoying. Some really fun instrumentation, though. Love the horns. 70s punk is more palatable than most punk but I still don’t love this. I mean, his voice is just really annoying. 3/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no Fav tracks: memories are made of this Least fav tracks: the rest of it
2.4 Honestly, most of this early punk just blends together. Not really my thing, when on paper it should be. Just think it all sounds a bit shite to be honest. Not helped by the terrible vocals.
not my styleeeee, starting to regret starting the project and saying don't give me endless 70's albums.
Debby from The Wild Thornberrys would listen to this.
Didn’t really enjoy this. I usually enjoy punk and rock similar to this but it didn’t really hit the spot the same.
point9.
2/5
Australian punk rock from '78. Much more palatable than others. I enjoyed this one a bit but I'm just not a punk kinda guy.
Huh, not bad! Don't think I've ever heard of The Saints. It's impressive that had a sound I would describe as similar to The Hives, although 15 years earlier. Although I didn't actively dislike it, I found myself wanting it to be over.
Not exactly bad but kind of wore on me as it went on. Like a less fun version of the Ramones. Would give 2.5
A decent album. The strummier songs are the best. I don't really know why this is one of the 1001 albums to listen to before you die though. It's not all that original or groundbreaking.
When the first song had a fun trumpet section, I was pretty excited. But then the rest was nothing new. Sad times.
I just didn’t feel this at all.
Fine rock album, nothing special.
It's fine
Just some mediocre punk.
the use of the R word in the second song caught me so off-guard i actually laughed like huh…anyway these guys sound almost identical to iggy pop/stooges except with trumpets. unfortunately i dislike the sound of australians and brass instruments so those elements did not combine to make a very appealing record for me personally. but it wasn’t egregiously terrible or anything. fairly acceptable i suppose.
2.5 it was alright. Best song was orstralia
This is fine garage punk, but nothing special. They basically sound like Stooges, but not as catchy. They're not terrible, but I can't think of a reason I would ever put this on again, and I could've died contented having never heard it. My thoughts on this are kind of similar to "Germ-Free Adolescents", who in fairness I thought were way worse - they make sense on this list if you've already included like a half-dozen Ramones CDs and want to mix it up, but really not otherwise.
Pretty boring
First song had promise with the horns. Well, that went away as quickly as it came. Christgau was less enamored, saying "...if those horns are somebody's idea of a joke I am not amused." Kind of a mishmash, the band doesn't seem to land on anything. It's okay, has good energy, not really punk though? DNF moving on
Eh The Ramones, The Stooges and David Bowie did it better. This particular album is not to my tastes
Meh. Pretty banal punk.
Sounds like a bunch of guys were in a room and one of them just went "hey we should make a band" and this was the result. 2.5 stars
Encore un album de punk ... Je comprends le mouvement, mais alors musicalement! Ah!
past the boundaries of this day, "Eternally Yours" will be Eternally Forgotten
I don't think there's really much to say about this album. It's wholly unimpressive, just mediocre and uninteresting rock.
2599 - This is alright, but it's a very niche type of pop rock music. It's sort of like Verve but even more commercial sounding, or Blur but swagless.
OK
Bit punky for my liking
All these "edgy" 70s and 80s punk albums remind me of that buzz lightyear meme where there's hundreds of him
I didn't listen to the session tracks because I wanted it to be over. Punk is dead. Leave it there.
75 minutes?? Right, so we're capping this at three stars so we'll see how we go. Update: took another off for it not being that good.
Ok
Eh
Standard late 70s British punk with some horns and keyboards thrown in, they don’t change what Eternally Yours is. This era of music is very blend to me with a few exceptions 5.3/10
mid punk. I've gotten like, ten albums that sound exactly like this. This one was Australian though!

Punk
Why is this part of the 1001? It's not bad, but it's just not special.
When I first pressed play I thought, cool, a Ramonesque band! But that was too soon. Yeah they're punk, and some songs are kinda cool, but only so because they sound like a Ramones song. Too bad, I was expecting to be better impressed.
Pretty average late 70s punk. Nothing special
agree w ben. no reason for this to be on the list
This is the safest punk of all time. Why only horns on the first track? Why is the album so long? Why are the songs so long? Where's the snarl?
It’s weird to me - I’m vacationing close to Brisbane right now and this Australian punk album turns up on my list. I wanted to like it more than I did. It’s not snarly or wicked, fast or grimy. I know it was earlier than many punk offerings, so perhaps I’m expecting too much.
The first song gives you hope for maybe hearing something unique or interesting, but it ends up just being this dude shouting in British for the rest of the record.
Very evocative of other (better) punk sounds from this list I've had the pleasure of listening to before. Fairly dull all in all, and overly long.
Not bad, but there are much better punk rock albums from the 70s than this
okay
The writing and singing is not super engaging, and the playing is good but pretty standard and generic throughout. I am not a huge fan, I was hoping for some more range.
Not as unlistenable as many 70s punk bands, but certainly forgettable
Samey
This album was far too long. Well over an hour and it all sounded very much the same. Not for me. Super 70s British rock sound.
Think I'm just gonna have to accept that I'm not that into classic punk. Post-punk and proto-punk both have much more interesting things going on. There's some cool moments on this but I didn't get a lot out of it I'm afraid. Best Track: Memories Are Made of This Worst Track: International Robots
Incredibly mid album, I listened to it 3 times and never retained any knowledge of a good song or bad song. I never want to listen to it again
2.5 It’s okay. Idk why “punk” songs are 3-4 minutes long tho
2/5. Sick solos really drive this and the horns are an interesting choice. Not complaining, just definitely new. The punkish lyrics feel more depressing than aggressive, like he's putting me down instead of hyping me up. I would even say more emo grunge rock than punk. Either way, it was okay but not a total vibe for me. Best Song: Know Your Product, Lost and Found, This Perfect Day
Just didn’t feel this one. I did like the diversity of music as it wasn’t just one note, but nothing stuck to me.
A punk album you could bring home to meet your mom. Perfectly fine. Polite, even. Underwhelming but solid. I could've used more horns. Highlights: Know Your Product, No, Your Product, (I'm) Misunderstood
Pretty good for 70s punk, has some hits on it, similar to the rolling stones but more raucous. C
When I read that this album mixed punk with R/B and a horn section, I was very intrigued. The first song on the album is great because of the innovative sound, but each subsequent song loses that uniqueness. By the 5th song the album just sounds like any late 70s punk record, which is a shame because the album never fully recaptures it's early intrigue. Overall disappointing. Top tracks: Know Your Product, Lost And Found
Kinda fun, kinda annoying. 4/10
Is this a loop of the same song? Cuz it feels like it
strong 4
fun punk album with good riffs, but gets a little repetitive
dfsadf
Punk indeed
Australian punk from 1978, but nothing I could enjoy. I usually like punk too. Maybe I was not in the right headspace for this album.
i didn't get much from the saints' eternally yours album. it's very punk, right in the era of the clash and the ramones, but i couldn't find an aspect that allowed it to stand out, or at least offer something different from punk i've already heard. not bad by any means, but why was this included?
Surprised I never heard of this band or album at the time. In it's day I think I'd have liked it & they'd probably be great livebut from this distance it was a bit 'meh' I'm afraid.
A punchy album.
Not something I would hear. But it's nice Fav songs: Know your product Untitled =E
Meh, all sounds the same. I wonder what it takes to hear the difference between this and, for example, Ramones.
Eternally Yours is the second album by Australian punk rock band the Saints. The band pursued more of an R&B sound on this album with an added horn section to their normally stripped down sound. Critics mostly loved this album and hailed it as a classic from the early punk rock movement. I felt this was a fine punk rock album, but it was also nothing special. If you're a fan of punk rock, then I recommend this album.
Punk rock lyrics, look, and snarl with a horns section? Haha, hmmm, ok that's different... If I hadn't grown up on real punk I might have been fooled... It's a fair effort, 2 stars.
Rock punk, un poco rollo.
nothing memorable to write about, punk rock with no energy
Fine I guess, but why make it 27 songs?
Not a great album.
Not bad as punk rock goes ... until you get to track 4 or 5 or 6... Same anti-establishment theme in every song and nearly the same tune. BORING as crap!! 2/5
One song ok, too punk to listen to continuously
