Incredible album. There are some huge hitters on here like Jet, and Let me Roll it. The album I think is also put together really well. It flows so nicely.

A breezy intro to the title track, then a very cool riff comes in with backing synths, and we transition suddenly to the pre-chorus. I like the melody in the verses too. Jet is more hard rocking, and Bluebird is laid back and understated with a sax solo and vocal harmonies. The sax reappears briefly in Mrs. Vandebilt, but it's the bouncy, rollicking bassline and sing-along chorus that makes the track. Side one ends with a plodding, moody riff and organs in Let Me Roll With It. On side two, we lose some momentum during the quirky Picasso's Last Words, but closer Ninteen Hundred and Eighty Five is as good as anything that came before, built around a simple piano motif. Excellent guitar solo too. The Beatles this ain't, but it greatly exceeded my expectations.

Macca doing his thing

Iconic opening song. Love how old school and nostalgic it sounds featuring very classic instrumentals and beautiful melodies. Forgot what a great song Jet is and also introduced me to other bangers/ballads like Let Me Roll It, Picasso's Last Words, Mrs. Vanderbilt (that SAX!) and Mamunia! Just straight up raw rock n roll throughout. Plus I live for an album that ties the last song back to the opener. McCartney knows what he's doing! Also kind of love that the album was recorded in Nigeria as a bonus. Wish it didn't end so soon! Instant 5.

Paul did his job here. The idea that this is a band is laughable but the music he wrote is great. So many bangers on one album! My favorites are "Jet" and "Let Me Roll It". Paul is the absolute king of melody, and even some of the stranger songs on here have strong and memorable melodies.

A more Beatles-y album than a lot of Paul's other solo work so I rate it a lot. He's not necessarily pushing any boundaries here but this is a solid collection of songs that show some of his best writing qualities.. quirky storytelling, great vocals and some nice harmonies. It's a nice mixture of guitar solos, acoustic songs and the horn bits are cool too. The first two tracks are the most celebrated but i saw Sir Paul play live in December 2024 and two of Band on The Run's other tracks also made the set (1985 and Let Me Roll It). Shows the strength of these songs, and Bluebird is also an underappreciated gem.

Let’s set the stage: it’s 1973, and it’s been three years since the Beatles split. Paul quickly releases solo material under his own name, and then as RAM with his wife Linda. ‘McCartney’ (1970) — Paul’s first solo release that actually preceded the Beatles final release ‘Let It Be’ — is brimming with unexpressed energy. He plays everything on the album, apart from supporting vocals from Linda, and it shows. The results reframed this living-legend’s songwriting and production in stark, definitely (and exclusively) McCartney strokes. Remember he is at the top of his game at this point in his career, and ‘McCartney’ is a defiant claim for creative autonomy. The fact that ‘Kreen-Akore’ — a track comprised of different drum breaks, rhythmic breathing, and disparate instrumental ideas all performed by Paul — caps an album full of so many now-classic McCartney songs sheds light on a musician who is eager to make a statement, but is uncertain what it is they want to say — and more importantly — how to say it. Paul’s overflowing post-Beatles creativity produced 5 albums with a rotating cast of collaborators that collectively cast a wide stylistic net in the three years between the Beatles end and this record. Band On The Run sits atop that impressive output as a singular piece of exceptional art made (mostly) by one human being. A majority of the music heard on this record is played by Paul himself. Through his groundbreaking engineering work with the Beatles, McCartney became not only a virtuoso on every instrument in his own band, but became an expert multi-track recording artist capable of making multiple, individually recorded takes of his own performances sound like an entire band of Paul’s playing in one harmonious, glorious effort. The Paul’s rhythm section has a solid grip on grooves that the other Pauls then take and fill with harmonic and thematic ideas, all orchestrated by the head Paul, the ace songwriter and musician. The Beatles are truly great. I love nearly everything they’ve ever made. But Paul’s solo career reaches such greater heights in my mind because he was a true genius with the technical know how and an obsessive, perfectionist tendency that when unleashed on itself propelled him to manical, madly brilliant work.

Ho? Hey Ho! Ho? Hey ho! Yeaaah! So we have an absolute classic today, huh? After my first 10 years of beatlemanic, I was afraid of exploring the solo albuns by the former members. That fear was completly gone when I first listened to this album for the first time. All of the 9 songs are very enjoyable to listen to, and some of those are huge classics. I'll never forget the experience of listen to Let Me Roll It live when Paul came to Rio in December of 2023. Let Me Roll It was kept me wonder of how good it would be played live, and it was much more that I was expecting. Mindblowing! Best solo beatle album? I don't know. But certainly one of the three best, for sure!

My most listened to album next year. One of the greatest albums ever recorded

What was I doing missing Wings for so long? This album is like....what I wanted The Beatles to be. I guess I like The Beatles, I just wish John Lennon wasn't involved.

Zero skips. Two amazing bookends. Has a song about a dog (Jet). Let Me Roll It and No Words are all time Paul deep cuts.

The album is nothing short of a soft-rock masterpiece. It doesn't have any of the raw emotion of Lennon or Harrison's early efforts; it's altogether more polished Macca - it's the nicest cup of cocoa you've ever had, and sometimes you get a surprise marshmallow. As demonstrated by the unapologetically saccharine Bluebird or the non-offensive Mamunia. Then you get Vandebilt, title track, Let Me Roll It, Jet and one of Macca's mightiest tracks in Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five; finishing (after a fantastic synth + jazz clarinet crescendo) with that great 'Hard Day's Night'-type chord en route to a Band on the Run reprise. It feels like a winding and expansive album, yet all comes in at 40 minutes. One of the few albums that feels longer than it actually is (there is so much packed in), but you don't want it to end. And a handful of out and out bangers. Top marks.

makes me horny

This totally holds up. The production and instrumentation are unmistakably Paul, but still sound fresh. The songs are varied but gel together.

five, this was beautiful

Pre-listening thoughts: Paul McCartney my fav underrated indie artist Post/during listening thoughts: this is 100% what I expected and I very much enjoyed this. The harmonies are tight, the songs change and move in interesting ways, and there’s no reason for me to not give this a five star rating. 9.5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no but it was a fun listen Fav tracks: it’s a no skip album. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Bluebird though. Least fav tracks: n/a

Title track is spectacular. Overall a great album with catchy and memorable songs that are still musically interesting. It's even more impressive when you know that McCartney recorded the majority of the instruments himself in a mediocre studio. Standout songs in my opinion are Band On The Run, Picasso's Last Words, Jet, and Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five

This is fantastic

FANTASTIC ALBUM. AND I LOVE THE STORY BEHIND IT. PAUL IS A TALENTED MAN. i need this on vinyl

Considering how fraught the receding of Band on the Run was, it’s a miracle it was finished, not just that it turned out so well. Paul’s creative fire is in full force.

This was wonderful, as always. Five stars.

Great album with many hits. 5/5

Nothing better than Macca and the Wings.

WELL what an absolutely fun and entertaining album - loved it. I've never actually listened to the Wings so this was a welcome surprise. I think I realised from watching the hours long documentary Get Back that although Lenon is a huge part of the genius of The Beatles, McCartney was the musical genius and was worlds apart from the rest of them in his capabilities. I think that is why this not so serious album is so great, it is so unpretentious but still manages to be an album you take seriously as a really really impressive collective of work. I wonder if that was part of it from Paul's point of view, to be the opposite of John at this time and just make a fun but amazing album where he is just not taking himself too seriously. Love so much that it is with Linda and love even more that on the cover there is both Parky and Christopher Lee. Lyrically there seems to be a lot of escapism as a theme - wonder if that is to do with The Beatles? Even the tracks that when they first came on I was unsure of, by the end I was bopping a long and then loved (this mostly happened with Bluebird, the love came with the cowbells, and Mrs. Vandebilt, where again the love came from the music rather than lyrics with the beat hitting on both the half and full beat.) This is an album I would happily buy on vinyl and have it on in the background and find myself dancing in my seat to whilst trying to listen to whomever is there but being distracted instead by this fun fun album.

Can't fault this album. Wings/Solo McCartney at his best. Very strong start to the album with 2 huge numbers. Most other artists would struggle to follow up on this, but not in this case. To give this anything less than 5 stars would be hard to justify.

Fantastic.

One of his best

“Band on the Run” is like “Layla” for me … a song of songs. Each one is incredible. Also love “Let Me Roll It” which was used perfectly in “Licorice Pizza.”

4.5 rounded up. I hope you’re having fun.

Love it! 5/5

Great music, once again by Sir Paul McCartney.

One of my favorite albums

Cmon now

Classic album, brilliant writing, amazing sounds

Better than any Beatles album don't @ me Fave Tracks: Band on the Run, Jet, Bluebird, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five 4.6/5

Great band, great music, lead by the GOAT Paul McCartney. One of my favorite albums.

"They're only the band the Beatles could have been" - Alan Gordon Partridge

Chefs kiss

Wow, this album is really damn good. So many interesting change ups, and the layers of instrumentation and vocals make for such a rich sound. It has great energy and diversity in sound too. Love the saxophone! I've never dug into Paul's solo work so wasn't entirely sure what to expect outside of the hits, but this whole thing was pretty spectacular to me. New-to-me songs I especially loved are Mrs Vandebilt and Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five.

Love this fucking album. LINDAAAAAA

Just a rockin’ good album! Every song is great.

There is a turn up.... he's better without the Beatles if you ask me. Clearly enjoying himself and chuffing a lot. I would like a time machine to deposit me on a yacht in 1974 to fully appreciate this.

Haven't heard this iconic album in years and what a treat. Some little gems on here and some of the tracks carry remnants of The Beatles influence. Loved it 👍

The story of this album sounds wild. Never heard it as a whole, so I'm excited. I think this cements Paul's capabilities outside the Beatles. Easy 5* Highlights: band on the run (a banger, a masterpiece of many songs in one), jet, mrs vanderbilt, let me roll it

This has always been a big favorite and still is

I really enjoyed this album, I had heard the singles before and liked them even more as an album all together. Its very good and complete I had never heard ninteen hundred and eighty five before, what a great song. That will be played again!! Favourite song: Band on the run Least favourite: Bluebird, I was not a fan of this at all. Album artwork: Iconic album cover

Slightly embarrassed to emotional j had not listened to this album in its entirety, start to finish. Until now. And I consider myself a Beatles fan/need. This is a good album. It feels like McCartney really left the Beatles behind and was himself. Great tunes including "Jet", "Band on the Run", and "Let Me Roll It". A good mix of material in the other songs on the album. I will return visit this one!

GREAT ALBUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How could anyone not like this album? It's so easy to listen to, transitions through so many vibes whilst retaining its theme, has a few classic tunes and just all round ticks all the boxes. I high-key love that Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five repeated the main melody from the song Band on the Run which nicely ties the whole album together, without the album looping itself. Favourite song was probably Let Me Roll It, another song I wanna slow dance in the kitchen to.

A fantastic album one I've listened to many times. Favourite song include jet, let me roll it and nineteen hundred and eight five

el mejor album de paul

PonLacarney sabía lo que hacía

Muy bien 10, jugamo fuimo adelante y a otra cosa. El collage de Picasso's Last Words es magia

Band on the Run is Paul McCartney’s masterpiece of the Wings era — a brilliant mix of pop, rock, and soul that proves his post-Beatles songwriting could stand tall on its own. Born out of chaos (with two band members quitting just before recording), McCartney turned adversity into one of the most cohesive and rewarding albums of the 1970s. The title track, “Band on the Run,” is a mini rock opera — starting slow and dreamy before bursting into one of the most uplifting choruses in his entire catalog. It’s bold, inventive, and completely unforgettable. “Jet” is a full-on blast of glam-rock energy, with a chorus that sticks in your head for days. “Mrs. Vandebilt” brings in a laid-back groove and infectious “ho hey ho” chant that feels tailor-made for a crowd singalong. “Let Me Roll It” channels Lennon-esque grit with a heavy riff and smoky vocals — raw and soulful in all the right ways. And then there’s “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five”, a thunderous closer that builds into a sweeping finale, tying the album together with cinematic flair. Every track feels carefully crafted but totally alive — it’s playful, passionate, and endlessly replayable. Band on the Run isn’t just McCartney proving himself — it’s McCartney showing off, and it’s glorious. Favorite song: "Let Me Roll It"

Si no ha escuchado Band On The Run, usted no ha vivido. Así de siemple.

Great album. Loved the reprise of "Band on the Run" during "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five". Feels like a Beatles album that we all wanted.

Easily the best Beatles solo record, the best Wings album, and the best album that Paul was involved in during his post-beatles stint

goated

This is such a good album - it's just so energetic and playful.

The best Paul McC post-Beatles album. Maybe not every song is equally strong, but the perfect sequencing makes up for it.

One of the songs was a bit long but these were highly enjoyable

Paul wanted to be in a touring rock and roll band after The Beatles and this is what he did. The result is pretty solid 70s rock, accessible but with some interesting arrangements.

10/10. This album is a classic with many stunning masterpieces. Do I dare say that I like this album more than any of the Beatles' albums? Yes, I do. :) Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five is one of my absolute favourite songs ever. It makes me really happy. :)

Chicken or egg situation with any Beatles album or solo project from one of them, I can't tell if they just resonate with me or if they resonate with me because I have been listening to Beatles albums since birth. But even the songs I have never heard from some of their solo projects hit as if I have heard them forever, except Bluebird from this album, it sucked.

Great album

Macca forever.

Fab Macca Thumbs Aloft

All-time classic. And considering the circumstances that it was made in, all the more amazing how fantastic it turned out!

Band on the run is one of greatest albums of all time, the tite track is best paul mccartney song ever written.

This is leaps and bounds better than the post-Beatles Lennon stuff. Like, a hundred times better. It sounds much further on than its 1975 release date would suggest.

Such familiar sound. Feels like I've known him forever without eer knowing who it was. Great album

First time listen. There are some real quality tracks on this album. Its a real stand out and speaks about the quality of Sir Paul. Band on the run, Jet, Mrs Vandebilt, let me roll it, Picassos last words, nineteen hundred and eighty five are all real quality tunes. These are songs i will cherish forever.

My folks loved this album growing up. It really showed that Paul McCartney had solo musical chops

Una joya de álbum. Maravilloso de punta a punta. Todas las canciones son increíbles.

I wanna put aside that this is an album from Paul McCartney. Throw away any comparisons you'd be unconsciously making to the legacy of The Beatles—how do you consider this album on its own? If it was just a release from a band called Wings? Simply: it's one of the absolute greatest 70's rock albums of all time. Up there with A NIGHT AT THE OPERA, HONKY CHÂTEAU, HUNKY DORY, OUT OF THE BLUE, LED ZEPPELIN IV, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON... I could go on. It's just masterful: hit after hit after **hit**. The only one I can think of that I like better than BAND ON THE RUN is BAT OUT OF HELL, which, I mean, that's a high bar to clear, but just that it's even in the same conversation...! And I just wanna take a second to say: "Jet" might be the best song on the whole album? I'm not sure what consensus says about it, but for me, gawd, the opening of "Jet" can excite me like nothing else could ever hope to. And the synth lines on it, too? **Damn**. Jus', I'unno. I'd talk more, but specific words fail me. It's really an album where I'd rather just play it for someone and let them experience what makes it so great than try to describe it myself. So... Y'know, go on, if you haven't already.

Just an absolutely stellar piece of 70s rock. Very easy 5 to give.

That’s an easy 5, and thank goodness it is. I always use this album as a sort of benchmark, but it’s been so long since I actually heard it that I wondered if my memory was sort of faltering on me – obviously, Band on the Run and Jet are the two biggest hits off of this album, and some of Paul’s best known post-Beatles stuff, but I couldn’t fully remember the rest of the album. The rest of the album is just as damn good; the only real point of “ehh” for me was the sort of “first minute is the whole song” track that is “Let Me Roll It,” but even that’s a pretty good song when it comes to it – I think this is just a great fucking listen, regardless of paying attention to the lyrics, and if you do pay attention to the lyrics, I think it just adds even more to the album. The structures on all of these tracks are super fun, both vocally and instrumentally in a way that’s both reminiscent of The Beatles and much closer to some of his contemporaries at the time, like say, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, or even a lot of the U.S. bands that had kinda tried to fill the post-Beatles void (especially on No Words & Helen Wheels). I could keep going, but I’m just glad this album was as strong as I remembered it being – I truly forgot the album had ended on a small reprise of Band on the Run, so that was a fun looping point. It’s just a great fucking album, and when music can make someone feel this good, there’s not a damn thing wrong with it. Just a really strong listen from top to bottom, and a real pinnacle of 70s rock to me. One of the easiest 5’s I’ll give.

Okay wow. Thought it would be an album with a couple strong singles but meh the rest, after how bad Bluebird was, but this record is fucking incredible, in spite of that song. Sounds to me like it was very influential, something I'm finding out Paul was quite good at

Awesome. Title track set the tone, rest of the album followed through.

well it’s paul mccartney and this is a great album i like the use of horns a long with classic rock feel

Best thing in the apple pie,,,,, soooo gooooooooood. EVERY song is so good. At first I saw the album and I was like “‘ell nah.” But listening to it now, it’s so good! Paul Mccartney ate this album UP! The Beatles should learn from this cuz Wow. This album makes me want to take on the world and howl at the moon.

The first time I listened to entire album. I am not a Beatles fan. Meh. BUT this was wonderfully different. I felt the whole heart. This sang love to me. Thanks, Paul.

I never realized before, but a lot of McCartney's output is like, puns. Jet with suffragette, 'Helen' Wheels, this creeps up on other albums as well. Weird. I spin this record a lot, it's a:

Band on the run and Jet, of course. Even nineteen hundred and eighty five and Helen wheels play but for my money I'm taking Let me roll it and Mrs. Vanderbilt, cuz you know "what's the use in worrying?" No use!

Honestly a great album, had heard some tracks before but this was really much better than I’d expected

Was this guy in The Beatles? What is this? Paul commanded a big set on this one. And of course, it paid off!

That was a fun lesson. Going to add it to the cottage patio mix

My Favourite post-Beatles Paul McCartney album and definitely his strongest with Wings. The title track, Jet, Let Me Roll It and Nineteen Eighty Five are highlights & my 11 year old son says Mrs Vandebilt is so catchy it's a total earworm.

Старина доказал, что и вне Битлов он реальный пацан

Loved this album. One of my all time favorites.

A very solid album, a fun listen. Rather inoffensive but it doesn’t really get in the way of the album. Pretty good!

This is probably my favourite solo album by a former Beatles member, who also happens to be my favourite of the bunch. Sure, Lennon is an incredible artist, but aside from the undeniable highs, he's also made some pretty questionable choices throughout his solo career. Even the worst of Paul's or George's work is still listenable, which unfortunately can't be said about some of the stuff Lennon put out. Back to the topic at hand—'Band on the run' is, in my opinion, a manual on how to make a successful pop-rock album. McCartney really walked into the studio and said he's gonna show everyone he can still make the hits, and did just that. Strong 5 stars for me!

Not as good as ram but still perfect

Not quite the Beatles, but still pretty close.

A favorite McCartney album w songs from my youth. We’ve seen him live in recent years and these songs have really held up

Made it through three listens and would have gone for a fourth if there had been time. Great energy and a lot of subtleties worth unpacking.

Solid album. Jet is one of my favorites by Wings. Loved the orchestration in Picasso's Last Words. Paul and Linda did a good job together on this.

Paul at the peak of his post-Beatle powers. A classic.

Classic

Great songs from one of the greatest songwriters of our day. Immaculate production.

look i am biased about this one, this is one of my favorite albums by one of my favorite musicians. in a lot of respects, i think this is mccartney at his greatest as a rock music craftsman. every song on this is hooky and catchy. of course he had been writing iconic hooks and melodies for over a decade at this point, but here it especially feels like music that was made to be as hooky and catchy as possible. songs like 'jet' and the title track 'band on the run' are classics and rightfully so. the musicianship on here is great, but of course the highlights are paul's musicianship (sorry linda). if i could make one nitpick about this album, it's that i love almost all of the songs, but i think if you replaced 'picasso's last words' with almost anything else (i honestly think it overstays its welcome, but hey, it's kitsch, it's paul) it's an even stronger album. but i do unabashedly love this album regardless.

This album did the impossible, it made me like Wings

Notice how every Wings song is like 3 songs? Anyway, fantastic album

Classic

NOMEL ES BANGER ALBUM!!! band on the run isch öpis vom beste woni vom macca post beatles ghört han. jet easy geeeil?? aha de macca cha songs schribe? au recht herti gitarre eigentli. ms vanderbilt bass mega vorne mega funny i like feelgood lied let me roll it mega nice mit de ultra luut gitarre und denn übernimmt d stimm. er cha sooo singe. mamunie soo schööön mann heilige scheisse, so minimalistisch so geil. fuck ich bi definitiv en macca guy. no words fangt au afoch wieder ah als wärs en mega schöne beatles song. picassos last words chli all over the place aber ufe gueti art. 1985 fangt seeehr geil ah. öööh wer singt das? ah afoch er mit alzent und verstellter stimm.

There was like a month in 2021 where I only listened to this album. And there was like a week of that month where I only listened to “Jet” on repeat. I love this album! I love Paul McCartney!

Wow 1001Album Generator... On Wednesday I get 'All Things Must Pass' (George Harrison) and Thursday it is this album.... Two of the greatest albums ever and both in my top 5. Onto 'Band On The Run'.... Fantastic. Not a single weak song on here and I love the way it ebbs and flows. Of course the stand outs to many will be the title track and 'Jet' but my favourite is "nineteen hundred and eighty five". A brilliant piano intro before Maccas great lyrics and vocals. Like I say, one of my faves and it gets an airing regularly.

Love it. Always listen at least twice. Mrs Vanderbilt is a banger.

Loved it. Great album. Would be good on road trip or just chill with. Every song is a banger. Listened to it twice and had it stuck in my head all weekend

This was great. Loved it.

Greta album. 5 stars.

I think this is the first band Paul forms after leaving the Beatles? Can hear the influence from the Beatles, but the album remains original, with many bangers throughout.

Classic

One of my fav ever 😍😍😍

9/10 One I knew already - great album Fantastic that one of the greats just do his thing. Songwriting, melody, harmony all perfect A bunch of killer tunes, takes a breather in the middle then finishes strong Best: Jet

LOVE. All stuff I can chill to and catch on to if I want to sing along to something in the car.

Paul, the master, is at work. Sit back and enjoy. I always wonder if this is what The Beatles would have sounded like had they not broken up. Maybe like this but better. “Nineteen Hundred and Seventy-five” might be the greatest closer of all time.

Excellent! Boss album.

What a second act! I mean really. Haven’t listened to all the way thru for years. ❤️

I’d rather listen to Venus and Mars or RAM but it’s hard to argue against this being his magnum opus. Chock full of memorable melodies you memorize after one listen. The title track should get all the pop culture obsession that bohemian rhapsody does. Jet and Let Me Roll It are my other favorites, but the album clears without a bad number.

Paul at his solo best. So many great moments on this album.

Song after song, this album keeps building. So many reprises, so many call backs. Definitely a top 10 classic rock album, if not top 5

I guess that makes us, a band on the run. Really is a great example of Paul mcartneys genius, might be one of his best albums ever made. Guitar work is genius the lyrics to jet being at the end of Picasohs last word and band in the run at the end of nineteen hundred and eighty five, sampling your own music is genius. 5/5 Favorite: Jet, bluebird Least favorite: Mrs Vanderbilt

Band on the run is a perfect example of the Paul McCartney and wings experience. At the beginning you're like wait, what is this song? This is dope! Dark and mysterious and groovy. And then the band on the run chorus kicks in. And you're like all right this is this cheesy song I've heard of the radio hundred times. We all contain multitudes

Truly an extraordinary piece of music, with the exception of jet which I think falls somewhat flat, every single song on here is amazing. “Let me roll it is” is truly an incredible single, whilst “mamunia” feels a bit too hymn like for me it still stands as a great bit of listening. “Piccasos last words” is a personal favourite and just undeniably a great and catchy theme. 1985 ends the album on perhaps the strongest track for just pure funk and the strongest track of the bunch, a all time classic. A truly 5* album.

I think this album represents a couple of firsts or rarities for this project so far. For one, it’s the first Beatles or Beatles-adjacent album I’ve been dealt so far. But it also is just the third album I’ve been dealt that I know well and the first one I know well not by the Talking Heads. Now, how do I feel about the album? Well before listening to it today, I really liked it. A few songs (namely “Mrs. Vandebilt” and “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five”) have at one point been in heavy rotation for me. The hits like the title track, “Jet” and “Let Me Roll It” were all mainstays in my brain. So what I was really looking forward to was listening to those tracks within the scope of this project, and listening to the ones that never struck a chord with me before. How do I feel about this album after listening to it today? I love it. McCartney is obviously one of the kings of catchy hooks, and there are plenty of those here. Knowing that he played multiple instruments on this album, and knowing the trouble production history of it makes the final product all the more impressive. The added instrumentals on multiple songs, specifically “Jet,” “Bluebird,” and “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five” elevate each of those tracks beyond their existing excellence. But it’s McCartney’s creative force of will that brought this whole thing together. He needed a hit after a middling start to his solo career and this really elevated him and Wings. Now, it should be said that McCartney wasn’t always the best lyricist. John Lennon often had the punchier, more insightful lyrics when he and McCartney wrote together, while Paul brought the musicality and melodic hooks to the table, most of the time. And it much of McCartney’s post-Beatles work, it’s clear that he’s missing his other half. His lyrics are sometimes non-sensical, or else just are confusing. What is “Jet” about? I don’t know, do you? But you have to know not to come to McCartney for insightful or sobering lyrics, like you might for Lennon’s music. You come for a good time and great vibes. And that’s what this album produces in spades. Even at its most intense moments it still finds a way to pull you in and see you buy in entirely. The tension is there in the title track and “Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-five,” but it’s broken up by either a complete change in tone (the former) or an actual pause to a vocal harmony section that slows things down and breaks the tension (the latter). I love this album, more than I did this morning. It’s an adventure. It’s quirky without being cringey. It’s fun and exciting and doesn’t overstay its welcome. It’s paced well. The production is excellent. There isn’t much else to say. Five stars. Easily. McCartney’s best post-Beatles work. I don’t care what “Ram” fans say. Standout tracks: Band on the Run, Jet, Bluebird, Mrs. Vandebilt, Mamunia, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five

I wore this album out as a kid.

brilliant

Excellent, I was only just listening to this album around a month back. Listening to it again only encouraged me to listen to the Beatles again.

Paul was easily the most talented Beatle. A multi instrumentalist and songwriter with the most hits in the band and as a solo artist.

Il n'y a pas de poids mort. Toutes les pièces sont portées par un souffle, les mélodies se déroulent, comme naturelles. Les arrangements ajoutent leur propre couleur, sans prendre le dessus sur les chansons.

What an opening 1-2 punch of Band on the Run and Jet. John Lennon would have kicked a woman down the stairs to make anything this good post-Beatles. But then he'd have done that anyway the misogynistic POS. Nothing after that comes close, though Mrs Vanderbilt is ace too.

Consistently good & with very high peaks, which isn't always the case w/Paul post-1970 so a lot to be said for that. Title track and "Jet" kick things off proper. "Bluebird" smooth. "Mrs. Vanderbilt" has a great chorus and sax, with fun verse that he'd kinda revisit later for "Famous Groupies" (which is also a lot of fun). "Let Me Roll It" is incisive, "Mamunia" great imagery, "No Words" lilting and pretty, "Drink to Me" works well and the closing track with its darkly bouncing piano. As good as it is, it's a bummer that the contemporary single "Helen Wheels" b/w "Country Dreamer" wasn't on the album proper, as those are two of my fave McCartney solo offerings. Doesn't stop it from being a classic.

Awesome album. Some really great tracks on this one.

I think this one is a hair behind RAM but still easy top 2 of Paul’s solo career. Rating: 4.9

Cincazo

Always loved this album and it solidified Paul's career after the Beatles

McCartney is a genius and this album is easy, fun and really good.

Not much needs to be said - just one of the greatest singer/songwriters ever. Love Paul McCarney and Wings, plain and simply. Very very good album, and a true classic.

Band On The Run is like Bohemian Rhapsody but better. Love every track on this album and it just flows from song to song. Can’t pick anything out in particular as it’s all just top quality

Lots of great songs on here!

After making some of the best albums ever made, Paul needed to let us know he wasn't done. Such a beautiful album with no weak songs! Love it.

I absolutely adore this album I would give it a 6 if I could. Controversial maybe, but for me, the album is on par with my favourite beatles albums. I just love it so much. The singles are incredible and the album tracks are superb. I love the cover. The only song I'm not as big on is Picassos Last Words, which has actually grown on me, just really odd reprises. I still like it, just don't think it's as good as the stuff before The lesser famous songs like No Words, are superb. And then you add BOTR, Let me Roll it, jet, bluebird. So so good. Easy 5, should be a 6

This is a classic banger. I loved this album

5 out of 5. Absolutely banger album. Never really listen to the Beatles or any of the members solos work and I now get the hype about Paul. Bluebird may be my favorite idk I can’t choose.

Funny to get this the day after we got Sgt Pepper. That was a fairly easy 5*, this might even be better IMO. Consistently excellent stuff from Paul here.

Excellent

god, paul... i love everything you do. this album is just a small sample of his massive, massive musical library. progressive, colorful and just fantastic rock music with tracks for just about every occasion. this is album you really don't wanna pass by, no matter your age, musical taste, views, you just have to agree that this is a good one.

I guess I have to give it a five.

Great Album.

8 / 10 Por momentos recuerda a The Beatles, pero en otros momentos los hace olvidar de forma magistral.

One of the first albums I ever bought with MY OWN MONEY! By far the best post-Beatles McCartney album in my opinion. Catchy as hell, amusing, touches of the loveliness we've all come to know. The song arc is excellent. One of the best of all time and a big personal favorite. Brings me back to my childhood I would grab one of my dozen or so albums, put it on the record player and sit down in my beanbag chair with the album cover in hand and just get transported to a completely different world :P

An absolute classic and fun album. McCartney really let his creativity and talent shine on this Post-Beatles project

This was a staple in my household growing up and I just love it

Peak McCartney. Musical dna. I consider 1985 his best composition. Jet, the title track. God. He never wrote a dud melody but he can be awful. Not here though. Let me roll it is of course his pastiche to Lennon. But who else thinks 'no words' is his George Harrison song? I even like mamunia. Not a dud on this one. Musical DNA. Only Lennon’s plastic ono band equals this for Beatles solo. 14009487383736384747 stars.

It's really hard rating this without thinking about The Beatles.

Effervescent! So lovely and so much range. I’m a huge Beatles fan and would have been happy had they stayed together but this album in particular makes me think, “if they had would Paul have gotten to open up this way?” And lord, I love Let Me Roll It. I’ve never been a “listen to music at the beach, type. Too much to fuss with and I’m happy to listen to the ocean but Let Me Roll It is perfect on a hot sunny day with the waves coming in!

One of my favorite post-Beatles albums. This is a comfort album whenever I feel blah & need to mentally & emotionally reset. Wonderful listen.

The “Paul can’t survive without the Beatles” crowd have been pretty quiet after this

Top 5 of all time

Practically a perfect album. Even the "weaker" songs are still amazing. I know people have mixed feelings on Wings and McCartney's post-Beatles stuff, but Band On The Run is so good. "Band On The Run" as a song is definitely in my top 10 songs of all time too. This is McCartney at his best. Easiest 5 stars for me so far.

I thought I was familiar and was ready for disappointment. But actually I find that it has aged well!

Gigagroover of an album. Great range of different rock and roll styles done well.

what a stunning album. I went in to this thinking the titular album would be the one good song and that would be it, BOY was I wrong! this really shows Paul McCartneys chops off in a big way. Let me roll it is such an energetic yet slow rolling song, Mamunia bringing in some synth in the background was amazing. The changeups of Picassos Last Words and the crescendo of Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five all to circle back to Band on the Run, front to back a stunning album and ill be sure to look out for it at the record store from now on.

Some duds here and there, but iconic on the whole

Mega fed! Synes albummet spiller, godt miks af mange ting. Ja noget er lidt “sappy” McCartney agtigt, men den er sgu flot melodisk og han har en god stemme. Unexpected highlight var Mamunia

Excellent. Some great songs here.

One of the best!

So fucking cool! Absolutely loved this, had it on in the background while I cooked, set the vibes straight up

Love Paul McCartney and wings

Can't believe I've never heard the rest of the songs on this album besides the title track. Paul McCartney's solo career really cements my view that he was the best Beatle.

I like the variety of rhythms and tunes!

One of the classic albums of my teen years. I love this album and the story behind it.

Brilliant. Paul McCartney is a towering giant of music.

Loved it!

Amazing how good McCartney can be when he avoids the reaching for sentimentality and schmaltz and has a little fun. Title cut, "Jet" and "1985" are classics and there's nothing here that disrupts the flow of quality pop tunes, energetically delivered. Even Lennon fans can love this unabashedly.

I enjoyed the entire album.

As a massive Beatles fan it's surprising I haven't ventured into exploring Paul's solo career too much. Loved this album it was fun and proved that Paul was a talented songwriter on his own. Thanks 1001 Album Generator! Favorite songs: Band On The Run, Jet, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five

Growing up is realising this is better and more interesting than a lot of Beatles albums. McCartney’s best three songs from his 2023 set were all from this album. As was the case the last time he toured. And rhyming suffragette with jet? *chef’s kiss* Four and a half. Fave track: Let Me Roll It

If you were listening to AOR radio in 1973/74, you’ve heard every sound from this album. It was everywhere, and cemented Paul as the most commercially successful ex-Beatle. John’ “Mind Games” came out about the same time, and while that’s a great song, I don’t think it’s a great album. Likewise with George’s song “Give Me Love”, or Ringo’s song “Photograph” which were both released around the same time. Pretty impressive time for the guys. That said, Band On The Run is by far the best overall album. It’s McCartney, so it is catchy tunes, great Melodie’s, well played and produced. Lyrically it’s nothing too deep and meaningful, but not like some of the fluff he put out occasionally. This album is party of the mid-70’s rock soundtrack. If you were there, you know it. If you weren’t this is a great collection of classic rock “deep tracks” 5/5

I love this entire album.

Wings' classic hit. I stand by my words: if Paul McCartney wasn't a Beatle, Wings would've been considered one of the Greatest 70s bands.

the first album that made me understand the majesty of wings... for that it should get a 5 but even if i didn't think that it has nineteen hundred and eighty-five on it. among other tracks that are most precious to me. no words for my love...

I've avoided rating this for weeks now because I couldn't decide if I should try and be objective (4 stars) or be true to myself (5 stars). This was my first ever "favorite album" and, while a few songs are Nice instead of Great, I still keep coming back to it over and over and over again. Crazy ass opener and closer. We love you PAUL MCCARTNEY! RIP Denny Laine!!!!

Phenomenal album by a phenomenal artist. This album is my youth.

Another favorite

A realy delightful album! Perfect to chill in a sunny afternoon or a starry evening.

Really see how the band influenced so much of the ‘80s and what followed

Love this album

Classic in every sense, fun to listen back when Paul flew solo and creativity was high

This album completely took me by surprise. when i first got it, i was dissapointed. my last few albums hadn't been my favorites and after the weekend break i was hoping for something more modern. 41 minutes and a second later i had changed my mind. band on the run has some truly catchy, encapsulating 70's rock that is fun and a good time.

Pretty great album. Spotify has some added tracks which are just slightly different versions. Don’t know much else about Wings but this has to be a must with gems on it.

Briljant goed

Just a great classic rock album all around

Title track is good but all the others are better. Guess I like Paul McCartney. Who knew?

Great album!

Great Album! Every track is very nice!

Some dude made rock in the 70's. 5/5

It is Paul McCartney, what more is there to say!

Great stuff Jet is one of my favorites of all time

love this album!

Being generous with the 5 since i really loved The White Album. Felt like I could hear Paul's vision for music. Recognized many samples used by Kid Cudi too which was nostalgic for myself. I will definitely come back to this album for the rest of my life.

Band on the Run, Jet, 1985

JET! Also Paul>>>>>>>john

Paul proving he is the best beatle for 41 min. Dude just knows how to make an album. Band on the Run, Jet, mrs vanderbilt and nineteen eighty five are the highlights for me and the way he ties them into each other is soooo awesome

Just a delightful album, and so much fun to listen to. Full of brightness, brilliant hooks and charm. Several of Paul McCartney's best known and best loved songs are found on here. As a McCartney/Wings album, this is arguably their best. You could also make a case for it being the best of the Beatle solo albums. Paul understands his own skills and embraces them, crafting a big rock and pop sound that really doesn't sound like anything else. Side 1 is clearly superior to side 2, but you know, even the lesser songs on this album are a lot of fun. And the band really sticks the landing by closing it out with "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five." Throw in "Helen Wheels" from the original US version, and it's a pretty easy 5. Fave Songs: (All songs, from most to least favorite): Band on the Run, Jet, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five, Helen Wheels, Let Me Roll It, Mrs. Vandebilt, Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me)

Awesome

Absolute classic

perfect.

Wasn't this guy in a band before this?...

Bluebird favorite song. Other than that Paul McCartney is better with the Beatles

Paul McCartney & wings - Band on the Run 1. Great song and opener 2. Man this rocks. Paul’s voice is great . The guitar work is great. The piano and sax work. The vocalized backing singers working too 3. Shit I’m a bluebird too. This is beautiful. I’m a sucker die a sad 4. Man this guitar work is great. This album is riding m. Quite a vibe 5. Man this guitar riff is sweet 6. My this whole album has been a boo so far. No skips. Let this shit is heavenly 7. Another banger. The strings and keys are fire. And the vocals are like butter 8. Oh hell no I have a sober drinking song LFG 9. Damn this album is a revelation

I may be biased by my love for Paul, but this album is a banger

Enjoyable album, I had gone my life not realizing Paul McCartney was on some of these songs as they've only come up outside of the album for me in the past. It also introduced me to great songs I didn't recognize.

This is exactly the kind of album I hoped to find on this website.

Heard before: Yes Favourites: Band on the run, Mrs Vandebilt, Nineteen hundred and eighty five I had been listening to this album non stop and decided to sign up for this sight, then like 6 days in it gives me this lol. Class album.

Paul McCartney? Isn't that the guy featured on "FourFiveSeconds" by Kanye? I kid, I kid. "Band On The Run" is a genuinely impressive album of 70's pop music goodness that shows off McCartney's ludicrous songwriting and performing talents. Highlights: Band On The Run - The title track is a fun poppy tune that starts out slow and ends up sounding like later Beatles songs minus the psychedelics. Jet - This song is a completely different tone from the rest of the album, and shows off a harder style of guitar that wouldn't be common until later in the decade. Mrs Vandebilt - God tier bass line with somewhat nihilistic lyrics that end up getting stuck in your head. Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five - Excellent keys and bass. This is definitely going on my list of songs to practice bass with. Lowlights: Mamunia - Not a bad song by any means, but definitely my least favorite on the album. A little draggy. Final Thoughts: A genuinely enjoyable album with very few flaws, if any. McCartney is one of the greatest songwriters of all time and he demonstrates that skill on this album of borderline pop perfection.

great album

Love this. Brings back some great memories. Favorite: Let Me Roll It.

Favourite tracks: band on the run; jet; bluebird ; Mrs Vanderbilt; let me roll it; nineteen hundred and eighty five

Wings' greatest album, and the only one that can stand toe to toe with the Beatles' greatest collections. Every song here (with the possible exception of No Words and Picasso's Last Words, which while both fine, definitely represent a dip in the record) is a phenomenal pop-rock number. Any album with "Band on the Run", "Jet", "Let Me Roll It" and "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five" on it is going to be a winner, but to be honest, I prefer songs like "Bluebird" and "Mrs. Vandebilt" now, as they're less overplayed. No matter. I could throw this album on at any time, to any song, and enjoy greatly.

Wings and Paul McCartney’s strongest piece of work together. Captured Paul at the height of his powers post-Beatles.

Mccartney siendo muy Mccartney. Todo excelente salvo un desliz al final.

Perfection

Easily McCartney's best solo work. Mrs. Vandebilt has been a long-time favorite of mine, Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five deserves all the love it can get, and Band On The Run then Jet is a great start to the album. Have always loved this one.

His most poptastic entry and one of the better post beatles efforts from any of the fab four.

I loved every song in this album. Can't believe I've never heard it before! I like how each song is really distinct and even sometimes dips into different genres but the album still feels really cohesive.

Amazing

The first time I've listened to this album in its entirety - I thought it was great. Every track different from the others, and a really interesting musical journey.

My Favorite Post-Beatles album. Every song is a gem, my favorites being the title track and "Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five. I can't recommend it enough.

Absolutely an all-time classic!!

Maybe this is Paul’s masterpiece as a solo artist. At first I thought different but this is one of the best albums ever.

One of my favorites!

Great album, very relaxed. Great listen for a relaxed afternoon or a train ride. Loved it.

Did y'all know that CHRISTOPHER LEE is on the album cover

Magnificent

Some of the songs were almost too long but honestly so good, can’t believe I hadn’t heard anything other than the actual band on the run song. Will absolutely listen to this again.

Never cared for the first song much, but this album as a whole is amazing.

McCartney goat Insane pop album

Very familiar with many of these tunes from the live album Wings Over America. Great songwriting, interesting material, good tunes. Impressive and definitely gives credence to the idea that Paul was the one with the pop song writing chops.

Listened to it a few times. Guess I really liked it. Didn't expect to as much as I did.

Has there ever been so much Paul McCartney on one album? Not my favorite Beatle, but I find his charm irresistible and it's on full, self-indulgent display here. Absolutely wonderful. At least 3 all-time tracks and no bad ones. Very fun time. I'm hesitant to throw another 5 at another Beatle, but what the hell, why not!

Best Album ever

Paul McCartney has a giant body of work under his belt outside of The Beatles. This might be one of the best albums he created. He is such a great songwriter with the ear for melodies. It's not clear how much influence his then-wife had but as a group effort it is great. There are so many styles tied together by clever order for those tracks.

Got to be 5/5 just for how many times I replayed it. Lots of fun songs, don't the wheel one so much.

Heaven forbid a fun guy have fun making fun music with his fun friends. Always a favorite, not a bad track here.

Many consider this to be Macca's greatest solo work - (they're wrong as it's RAM that's not even in this list) and it's easy to see why. Once again, he stretches his melodic muscles and has a mixture of pop, rock, folk, multipart suites and great playing. Just a bona fide classic album - and maybe he second best solo album. Best Tracks: Band on the Run; Jet; Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five

Really good album!!

Excellent album

To the best of my knowledge, prior to listening to this album, I think the only Wings song I know is Live And Let Die (and even then I’m more familiar with the Guns N Roses version). Maybe I’m wrong and I’ll know more than I realise, so let’s listen! Songs I already knew: Band On The Run, Jet, Mrs Vandebilt Favourites: all of them This blew me away. First, the obvious point to make is that it turns out I did know more songs than I thought. I never knew Band On The Run was by Wings! Somehow that completely passed me by as I’m quite familiar with that song - I just somehow never knew who sang it. Overall, it’s hard to fault anything here. The vocals and backing vocals are perfect. The composition is interesting. The overall feel of the music is very pleasant and enjoyable. Truly, this album is fantastic and I enjoyed it a lot.

Title track alone makes this song amazing. Jet is a helpful addition.

Old school classic

While Ram was the first indication of the longevity of McCartney’s post-Beatles, Band On The Run was the album that cemented the fact. There’s a handful of legendary tracks, McCartney’s vocals and musical playfulness is fully intact - and opening and closing with “Band On the Run” and “Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five” is just pure magic.

Starts strong. Really just a great album

A no brainer I always used to think this was a greatest hits album there are so many banging tracks on it.

This was a great album to get after a bit of a skid of 2-3 shitty to mediocre albums. I’ve loved the title track since middle school and the rest of it keeps up that energy. I also really love jet and let me roll it. It’s just a fun album that’s a hella good listen from start to finish.

cd impecável, vários hits

It took some time for me to really love Paul's solo career. I was more of a John solo stuff than the other Beatles. But a lot of musicians in my life always raved about Paul McCartney (with and without Wings). It's only been the last 10 years or so that I've come to hear the genius that is Paul. Band on the Run (the song) is just a perfect tune too. Jet is about a pony he and Linda had, which just goes to show the brilliance of his craft. They were living in the English countryside and Paul would go for a walk in the hills, write a song, return home. Beautiful. Just like Paul and Linda and Wings and this album.

Paul = 5 stars

It is perhaps one of the albums that most demonstrates that Paul McCartney is a master in the art of writing catchy and unique songs. I know this album by heart and I could listen to it anytime.

Track title alone is so killer it's worth 5 stars. Plenty of other songs on the record are also great.

McCartney's finest solo effort. These songs feel grand and triumphant in a cool, relaxed manner with an insanely impressive production value. Many songs still carry strong Beatles energy, and have a jammy style to them, justifying their long lengths. The songs are accessible, and most songs are easy to sing along to. Love the use of the sax and the harmonic back vocals. Every song was memorable and impactful except for "No Words." The hits are among the most impressive songs of the decade. Even the deep cuts were able to stand out on their own. It felt like a complete journey starting with the title track and ending with "1985", and with lovely smooth transitions such as "Mamunia" to "No Words."

Classic.

Top notch record end to end. Classic songs, killer riffs, and Paul is free to explore his musicality while leading his listeners on a delightful journey. I love it. I love Paul and George as solo acts so much more than in the Beatles. They get to be themselves without John oppressing their creativity. And they are powerfully creative and skilled musicians, nobody doubts it.

Loved it

Great songwriting. Perfect melodies.

Late at night when the wind is still I'll come flying through your door And you'll know what love is for I'm a bluebird, I'm a bluebird I'm a bluebird, l'm a bluebird Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm a bluebird, I'm a bluebird I'm a bluebird Yeah, yeah, yeah Touch your lips with a magic kiss And you'll be a bluebird too And you'll know what love can do I'm a bluebird, I'm a bluebird I'm a bluebird, l'm a bluebird Yeah, yeah, yeah I'm a bluebird, I'm a bluebird I'm a bluebird Yeah, yeah, yeah Bluebird (bluebird) ah, ha Bluebird (bluebird) ah ha Bluebird (bluebird) Fly away through the midnight air As we head across the sea And at last we will be free You're a bluebird, you're a bluebird You're a bluebird, you're a bluebird Yeah, yeah, yeah You're a bluebird, you're a bluebird You're a bluebird Yeah, yeah, yeah Bluebird (bluebird) ah, ha Bluebird (bluebird) ah ha Bluebird (bluebird) At last we will be free Bluebird you're like me At last we will be free Bluebird (bluebird) ah, ha Bluebird (bluebird) ah, ha Bluebird (bluebird) All alone on a desert island We're living in the trees And we're flying in the breeze We're the bluebirds, we're the bluebirds We're the bluebirds, we're the bluebirds Singing, bluebird (bluebird) ah, ha Bluebird (bluebird) ah, ha Bluebird (bluebird) ah, ha

Yeah really good 5/5

Wow, I was just blown away from this album. Just incredible music, I feel like better than some core beetles albums. Thoroughly enjoyed, easy 5! TBz 1. Band On The Run 2. Ms Vanderbilt 3. Let Me Roll It 4. Bluebird 5. Picasso’s Last Words

Who knew it took James Coburn and Christopher Lee for McCartney to finally make a great album without the Fabs? This is a close as he ever got to capturing some of the Beatle magic. The first two songs are forever bangers, but the deep cuts hold up, too.

Fantastic album from start to finish. I especially liked the part where the band was on the run

Chefs kiss! A masterpiece!

Every song a slapper, masterpiece! 😙👌

Solid, I like his solo stuff better than the Beatles

Good McCartney stuff, fresher than his beatles

Nice, very nice

Love this album. Not a bad song on this album. Really showcases Paul's songwriting chops. The title track on this album is objectively the best song, but there's really not a bad song on this album. Favorite track - Band On the Run Least favorite track - Country Dreamer

Paul McCartney is a musical genius and this album shows it. The melodies are so varied and the music is never bland because of it. From Mrs. Vanderbilt to nineteen hundred and eighty five, this album just rocks on. The album has one of the most delicious licks on the guitar ever on the blues section of Band On the Run.

I have often listened to this album while playing card games with my pops so I always feel relaxed and happy when I listen to it.

I really liked this album. Band on the run, mamunia (especially the lyrics), and Picasso’s last words were very good. It all just sounds very cohesive and relaxing. I will give it a 5 closer to a 4.

Band on the run and Nineteen hundred and eighty five are the best! Hence the rating. The songs felt to be a little too long sometimes.

John Lennon always used to shit on Paul McCartney because John's music was more raw and "real". John Lennon also stopped making good music in early 1971 and Paul kept writing fucking bangers like Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five. 5 stars

a little cheesy but undeniable 5

Who doesn’t love wings?

Naturally, being an album from a former Beatle, my expectations were high, and this certainly did not disappoint. It's another case of an album I've not listened to before, but recognised a couple of songs from. Band On The Run and Jet are my two favourites, and two I've heard before, but the whole album is just really good. Favourite: Jet

loved!

Sceptical at first but absolutely blown away. I rarely listen to albums in full but this is simply a masterpiece and well worth 30 minutes of your time

;000 :))))

Another one of the first albums I ever bought as a youth. This one plus Ringo (you know the one with photograph ) were my introduction to post-Beatles Beatles. I really liked this album as a 12 year old and beyond. I was expecting this revisit to bring back those warm feelings and it definitely lived up to it, especially on my 2nd time through. Great melodic sense and lots of different styles very well executed and beautifully crafted. Stand outs for me; Band on the Run, Bluebird, Helen Wheels, Let Me Roll it and especially Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five, a pulsating, mid-tempo piano-based rocker that ends the album with a bang after a slightly lacklustre side 2. 5 stars
