British Steel

OMG! Yesterday it was Sugarcubes and today this! 1001albumgenerator certainly lives up to it's name. I like a bit of Metal and Lemmy has always been my hero (he damaged my eardrums back at Hammersmith) so this feels too clean to me now- well produced with undeniably catchy tunes. I liked the singles back then (Breaking and Living) and listening to the whole album now it's cohesive and well written so I've nothing to say against it, only that it doesn't make me want to turn the volume up.

Classic! Halford's voice is as powerful and shrilling as ever but what really brings this album together is the drumming accompanying the catchy riffs. The reason this isn't a five star is because I find especially "Metal Gods", "Grinder" and "You Don't Have to Be Old to Be Wise" a bit stale and mellow. The ending, "Red, White & Blue" also doesn't do the album justice. One of my personal favorites, "The Rage", would have been much better suited for closing this iconic album. All and all a good but a overhyped classic album. This album is triumphed by many other Priest albums, "Sad Wings of Destiny", "Painkiller" and "Stained Class" just to name a few.

Meat and potatoes heavy metal - the template for a lot of other metal from the late 80s/early 90s. Never really that into it me'self.

I mean you can’t go wrong with Judas Priest, but why not listen to Screaming for Vengeance instead? It’s better pretty much throughout

Hm there are obviously a lot of reasons to love this and I can see why lots of people do. I'd probably give this more attention and do a proper review if I wasn't so jaded from all the insane amounts of heavy metal on this list. I'm just a bit fed up of heavy metal and I have absolutely run out of patience for it but I can see that it seems like quite a fun album!

This is the definition of an alright album. It has a couple great hits, nothing in particular stands out as bad, but at the same time the album as a whole is somewhat unremarkable and forgettable. It's perfectly fine.

I like some heavy metal, always did. But I was always put off by NWOBHM, especially the dual guitar attack, wannabe Beethoven compositional approach of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. At first listen, this was no exception; I dismissed the first two tracks as totally insignificant, but acknowledged the classic status of Breaking The Law; Argentinean band Riff has a song from 1985, Dios Devorador, which features the exact same riff as Grinder; of course I am not saying that Judas Priest ripped off an Argentinean band, pretty much the opposite, but having known the Riff song for many years made Grinder sound more familiar to my ears. What with United? Isn't that a corny song? Were they attempting to re-write We Are The World for a metalheads crowd? Geez, that's horrible! On to You Don't Have To Be Old To Be Wise, great title but too long to re-type. Living After Midnight seems to give a template to a whole bunch of too-many-hair-metal-bands that were to come soon, especially out of LA. The Rage is really interesting! A reggae-like guitar, bass and drums intro that soon morphs into a classic metal, bluesy groove and comes back in the middle of the song; this one should have been huge, that's unfair. All along I can't help but think about some 80s movies with rebel teens in them or some kind of horror, and that's fun! And this is the whole point: British Steel comes up as a thing of its time. A second listen reveals some more details that make the experience more entertaining. Suddenly Rapid Fire seems to hint at the thrash that were still to come a few years later; Metal Gods is a headbanging anthem in the most irresistible way. Grinder still sounds great and even more so. I still don't like United though and I guess I never will, while the patriotic Red White And Blue could have been written by Ted Nugent were he British I guess. Let's face it: with its macho-ish, tough guy imagery of fire, steel, and epics, heavy metal hasn't aged well, but British Steel is still a lot of fun to listen to if only at an entertaining level; if you still listen to this with teenage conviction, that's ok honey, there's nothing wrong with you... but I would be worried. (*Hides underneath the table in order to call the psychiatric hospital*)

If you're looking for 11 back-to-back tracks of good old-fashioned metal, you've come to the right place. Feathered hair tossing windmill power chords, finger-tip shredding solos, a chest pounding rhythm section, and Rob Halford's expansive vocal range growling and wailing. What's not to love? Side note, I was really intrigued by how 'The Rage' started. It had a Clash feel to it and I was hoping they'd continue on in that direction.

This one takes me back. Straight ahead, street smart metal with punk bones. Needs to be played loud in a fast car.

I get bored very easily with this type of music. It is no more than functional rock songs. The first song has great drumming, though.

Absolute classic and what a banger. I was never a big fan of Judas Priest as a teenager and honestly what an idiot teenage me was. I really missed out.

Shiny, tight black leather. A loud, idling Harley Davidson. Amp volume level 11. I’m eager to review this because I panned Iron Maiden’s debut release from the same year a couple of weeks ago, and as I’m only 14 LPs into these 1001ers, my page reads that metal is my least favorite genre. And that’s not accurate. I actually like metal, just to clear the record. And this record clears it. I was 21 years old in 1980, nearing the end of my stay at one of Huntsville’s (Texas) many correctional facilities named Sam Houston State University. (By the by, it was never Sam Houston Institute of Technology, or S.H.I.T. – urban myth.) One of my very best friends was a head banger named Chris. I was still listening to stuff from the likes of Foreigner and Journey and such, and when introduced to a whole set of other groups like Dio, Iron Maiden, and Priest, it was a little much initially. Matter of fact, it was downright frightening- ‘Highway to hell,’ and all that stuff (which I later discovered was not a song about knock, knock, knockin' on satan’s door at all, strictly speaking). I was frankly surprised that 'British Steel' had not one single reference to the devil or hell. ‘Course you don’t really need that on an LP populated with Killer Robots (‘Rapid Fire’), marauding pagan hordes (‘The Rage’), general mayhem (‘Breaking The Law’), and rough, gay sex (‘Grinder’). And, Judas Priest is thoughtful enough to let you know exactly what you’re in for, where you will be traveling for the next hour, with the very first opening lines: ‘Pounding the world like a battering ram. Forging the furnace for the final grand slam. Chopping away at the source. Soon the course will be done. Leaving a trail of destruction that’s second to none.’ Metal has always had an exaggerated opinion of its’ own destructive power if one takes these kind of statements literally; which, they really aren’t, even if metal sorta thinks they kinda are? Well, such are the fantasies of Priest’s target audience: underage beer drinking, pot smoking, fast driving, sex craved teenage boys. Great riffs and Rob Halford’s soaring vocals (truly second to none, with the exception of Ronnie James Dio and Bruce Dickinson) make this a very enjoyable LP. ‘You don’t have to be old to be wise,’ snarls Halford. Couldn’t agree more. But you also don’t have to be young to be metal, for about the length of this recording, after which I could go for a lil’ nap.

Pretty average rock album here. Felt like a majority of the songs fall under the same setup. Breaking the law was somewhat repetitive. Living after morning was the only one that stood out. Overall it’s nothing too special. 5.8/10

Ces prêtres de Judas m'ont fait passer trois quart d'heures assez sympathiques, sans pour autant se distinguer des précédents métalleux générés. Ceci peut en partie s'expliquer par le fait que j'écoute aujourd'hui mes albums de retard à un volume un peu moins élevé qu'habituellement puisque vous savez que Rumours vient de tomber dans le générateur et que mes oreilles se doivent d'être en parfait état lorsque l'album sera lancé à quatorze heures pétantes.

J'ai passé un très bon moment à l'écoute de cet album, seulement voila, cela fait plus de 25 albums que nous n'avons pas été surpris, pas été marqué par quelconque album. Je me sens vidé de mon energie vitale, et songe au pire. Robert, ceci est un appel à l'aide, nous avons assez souffert et réclamons au moins deux gros albums dans les 5 prochains, sans quoi cela pourrait être la fin de l'aventure.

First time I’ve heard of Judas Priest so definitely a new experience listening to this album. The first half/ first 5 songs I just didn’t like it, as a metal band it didn’t really excite but after You Don’t Have to Be Old to Be Wise the album is mental, and makes you want to listen to the album again and again and that’s exactly what music should do. So this is a very solid album and introduced to metal music maybe they’ll be a bit more metal and Judas Priest in my playlist.

The album was not outstanding. It had a few songs that were alright but the rest didn’t do much to make the album that great. It’s the same old 80s rock, metal sound. Not great but not horrible. Also- I think there’s something with me not liking the title tracks off of these rock albums. I didn’t see how “Breaking the Law” was good. I really liked "The Rage" though.

I get that this album was influential to other bands but I do not get the appeal. The songs have too similar structures. The vocals and instrumentation are not appealing to me.

A great heavy metal album! I had heard of Judas Priest in the past, but I only knew them by their name and couldn't have told you any of their songs off of the top of my head. Upon listening to British Steel, I instantly recognized Breaking the Law which I have always enjoyed for its fast pace, killer main riff, and vocals. I really liked the lead singer's vocals throughout this album which usually makes or breaks this style of music for me. His voice gave me Iron Maiden-vibes (which I believe this might have preceded?), and the overall power and tone matched the quick and energetic instrumentals perfectly. In fact, I will say that this is the first metal album that I have heard where I actually enjoyed the vocals more than the music itself. I usually expect more intricate guitar and drum work from this genre, and I was surprised that the music was more straightforward than other metal bands from that time period. The best way to describe it would be if AC/DC had Bruce Dickenson as their lead vocalist (which is not a bad thing). I found the first half of the record much stronger than the second half as the last couple of songs go for a slower vibe that doesn't quite match the rest of the album. Overall, I did enjoy listening to this one a lot, and I think it would be fun to throw on again on much bigger, louder speakers. 3.5/5.

A bit pedestrian I thought - I don't mind metal, but this wasn't for me

Never listened to these guys other than the famous songs. It's cool. Guitar tones are excellent. Great riffage. Vocals remind me of Bruce Dickinson-era Iron Maiden. Also a good thing. But the drum beats aren't that interesting. Almost cliche. But, for all I know, Judas Priest's fame and success are the reason why they became common and cliche. Like the Beatles and sitars. Sounds hokey now but at the time it was like "whooooaaaaaaaa maaaaaaaan!" Giving this a three in relation to the other records on this list. It's good. No doubt also influential. But I wish a 2.5 was possible. In its better moments it sounds like Iron Maiden. In its boring moments, like AC/DC. Rounding up to three stars for the soaring vocals.

Living After Midnight is a solid 80s rock anthem, but this whole album is pretty "okay" - and that's it. Nothing about JP really stands out to me. And I hate how the drums were recorded.

45 mins of pure headbanging heavy metal. Bonus point for British way of lyrics writing. Favourite tracks: Rapid Fire, Breaking the Law, You Don't Have to Be Old to Be Wise, The Rage.

It's thrilling to be able to revisit this and consider it with a queer lens. And in many ways, it feels like of course this super masculine flavour of heavy metal would be a perfect match for the leather daddy S&M variety of the gay male life. Maybe that's why the album is so strong - while Rob Halford wasn't out in 1980, the song matter feels authentic to his life. And regardless of yr sexual identity, decades on, the attitude and swagger are still thrilling. We're all breakin' the law in our own ways.

A true fucking classic. So many things came out of this. I was always more of a Maiden fan than a Priest one, but c'mon, it was 1980 and this was already Priest's 6th album. They were pros already, they paved the way for 80's metal.

Great metal album; has some songs I love, and no songs I dislike. Definitely not my FAVORITE album by Judas Priest, but still great. I've been a fan of them for a little while and prefer some of their other work. I love their unique, sleek metal sound; they were pioneers of the genre for sure, and this album definitely deserves a listen imo. This album has great vocal performances and catchy riffs, and the percussion is quite fantastic. I definitely like them better than the other the pop hard rock/metal bands of their era, like ACDC. I loved "The Rage." This one could grow on me a bit more perhaps, but for now I think I'll give it a 4. Almost a 5. Its a 5!

Maybe they should rename this 1001 Albums from the West Midlands). I feel like I know where this is going from track one, and that isn't a problem!

Yeah, yeah... Can't say I didn't enjoy it at times.

I really liked the hard-core and it’s the first time I’ve gotten rock in a while so I was gonna like it no matter but I liked it very much.

Ages ago as a teenager I once walked out of a Judas Priest concert early - they had a concert in town that for some forgotten reason was postponed 2 or 3 times and by the time they showed up in town apparently they couldn't sell tickets. Or even give them away. A friend of a friend was "working security" and snuck two of us in the back door of the arena (hey, free concert why not) so we were 2 of maybe 4000 in a cavernous hockey arena. Stayed for maybe 7 or 8 songs and it got a bit much - eh, I was much more judgey about music back then, it was free after all - I should have stayed dammit (but I thought it sucked). Sometimes timing is everything when listening to music. Because this morning after some (fine!) folk albums and a few rainy days blasting tunes like "Breaking the Law" was absolutely perfect. Unfortunately JP was/is always like the watered-down version of a lot of their (better, IMO) peers like Maiden, Dio/Sabbath, etc. They were a little more AC/DC without the humour than their (more-talented) British peers but that is high compliment to the best songs here (including "Living After Midnight" "Metal Gods" and "You Don't Have to Be Old to be Wise") which are pretty fun. I actually don't much like Judas Priest overall - Priest were definitely more of a Greatest Hits type band but I can objectively give this a solid 3 for having some of those hits here. This album is a good representation of those times of simple heavy rock (bridging between rock and metal) - the best cuts are definitely enjoyable. 6/10 3 stars

I’m not a huge metal fan but I really enjoyed Judas Priest. Rob Halford’s vocal delivery is fantastic and the music is driving yet still has a clarity to it. This album was released over a decade after Judas Priest formed and heralds the coming of thrash metal.

This is one of the greatest metal albums ever made, best among the best. It should be on anyone's short list who wants to get into this genre. It also has great mainstream appeal as metal albums go. Judas Priest adeptly straddles that line between metal and classic blues rock. I think that ultimately it gives a more timeless quality to the music. There's a reason you hear Judas Priest on classic rock radio more than you will hear most metal bands. But make no mistake, this music rocks hard, and how. Priest opened the door for metal that was actually metal, not just hard English blues. Music got harder, darker and faster after these guys showed up. Rob Halford is riveting as a vocalist. Piercing, growling, screaming, commanding, the man can do anything he wants with that voice. Oh and, lordy, those guitar solos are insane. That double barreled guitar assault by Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing defined their sound, and probably launched a hundred bands. Tight, powerful rhythm section manned by Dave Holland and Ian Hill. No bad songs, no filler, just an album full of beautifully crafted metal. So much fun to listen to, and it just freaking rocks. Fave Songs: Breaking the Law, Living After Midnight, The Rage, Steeler

This is an awesome 80's heavy metal album. An album with some meat to it! Songs like Metal Gods, Grinder, United not to mention the two great singles Breaking the Law and Living After Midnight. Great from beginning to end. Easy 5 for me.

So fun! End-to-end rock, a progenitor of thrash. I read that it was one of their more "commercial" efforts, which I guess is true, but it did pave the way for a lot of bands to come.

Most of the songs are driving. Those that aren't are not exactly stinkers, but they do bring down the energy in the middle of the record quite a bit. Fortunately, it starts and ends on a high note and remains part of a tradition which maintains those highs.

I have a bit of an allergy to metal, even if Breaking the Law was a Beavis & Butthead hit.

"United" and "Red, White & Blue" are really cheese and don't seem to be ironic / sarcastic. Red, White and Blue literally ends with "God Save the Queen". Maybe I'm just too much of a punk rocker, but seems like the only that should follow that is "She ain't no human being".

I genuinely don't get the appeal of this sort of music. Is it supposed to be cool? Edgy? Rocking? The instrumentals are boring, the songs feel very samey structure- and instrumentation-wise aside from some stylistic changes like united (which is just boring in another way), the lyrics lack substance and feel like what dads think are cool. I get the same feeling from this that i get from a lot of modern pop records, making the same song a few times, hope some become hits, make an album. Very lame overall, although i do appreciate breakin da law.

Grinder-bam bam bam, da, da dadada is how i hear that beginning riff. nice. classsic wind up and down at the end there. United-oh hey i like the heavy feel on the intro here. i like the melody line of united-united-united we stand. its nice. gon keep on driving we never stop. hm wonder when these songs were written what hisotricallt speaking was going on. from the lyrics i feel like youd expect it to be more rock on heavy, nut nah the beat is pretty medium consistent. it suits it though. You Dont Have to Be Old to Be Wise-What a title. its not bad. i should probably relisten to figure out what theyre singing about though Living After Midnight-i like its main melody The Rage-Definitely feels like the main melody is like, heavier? with the chords its playing. song's bpm is steady slow kinda, guitar riff is neat. wah what a guitar solo at the end there Steeler-long ass guitar riff to start, not bad. Red, White and Blue-Nice slow start Lol lost it at the end there. Uh, nice rock album? Rock has never been my thing but I do like my guitar riffs.

An absolute perfect encapsulation of 80s heavy metal. Every track is fierce, powerful, and surprisingly accessible. Rob Halford has the best range in metal and it shines through this whole album.

Honestly solid 8/10, expected a generic sort of hard rock album; I was pleasantly surprised by how good it actually was.

Comunque "You Don't Have To Be Old To Be Wise" me ricorda una canzone di uno stage di Mega Man X (Storm Eagle), o Tough Boy di Hokuto no Ken, e l'assolo di Rapid Fire sembra uno dei suoni standard che fanno le pistole giocattolo del cinese. The Rage s'è guadagnata il cuoricino su Spotify. In conclusione: Non li ho mai apprezzati troppo e se non li apprezzavo troppo prima figuriamoci ora. Una cosa che mi ha sorpreso è la bruttezza di alcuni ritornelli mezzi glam buttati a caso, tipo in United o anche Metal Gods. Veramente trash (non thrash). Gli assoli pure so di una bruttezza rara. Una nota positiva forse è la voce, che come in tutti questi gruppi heavy metal comunque è abbastanza tecnica e il cantante se la cava bene. La produzione pure m'ha lasciato molto indifferente, onestamente Back In Black che è dello stesso anno, pure se c'ha un'estetica diversa, suona 3 volte mejo.

Sentirlo attaccato agli ac/dc all'inizio mi ha fatto continuare con l'esaltazione poi andando avanti mi sono reso conto che c'era qualcosa di diverso. Queste le mie note: "Cazzo breaking the law è veramente una pagliacciata" ; "United ma che è?" ; "Red white blue veramente???" Comunque non avrò mai voglia di risentirlo.

Very classic sound, captures that early metal sound very well, and a very representative sound of that era. Lot's of great riffs, and some good hooks. Some of the slower songs dragged and became a little repetitive, but most of the tracks were to the point and packed a nice punch. Pretty standard metal, but still containing some fresh and clever songwriting.

Ok, fairly energetic, but not as good as AC/DC or Iron Maiden

I'll admit I enjoyed the album a lot better than I'd expected. Maybe because it didn't contain the high-pitched screeches I associated with Judas Priest. The lyrics are really extremely ridiculous to the point of being hilarious. Of course this was long before the app Grindr, but coincidentally (?) the song Grinder is full of lines that could be understood as metaphors for homosexual promoscuity "Never straight and narrow", "Got no use for routine", "Grinder, looking for meat". Although presumably not intended (?), this added to my enjoyment of the album.

British Power metal, can see how Ozzy/Black Sabbath influenced these guys. Also motor head vibes. Yeh dope, 4 stars (just about...)

A landmark album that did much to change what heavy metal was and helped paved the way for other bands and the popularity of heavy metal itself in the 80s. Not a band I listen to very often and understandably sounding a bit dated, but Robs vocals are incredible, the dualing lead guitars are brilliant but not afraid to feature catchy rhythms also. The album boasts some excellent, memorable tracks, is still fun and still worth a listen.

Harder rock than I like

⭐⭐⭐ was pleasantly surprised. i don't typically like anything '80s at all and was never interested in judas priest. may not necessarily revisit it again, or seldom, but it was surprisingly pretty good.

Incrivelmente a capacidade de todas as músicas parecerem a mesma música, e todas elas parecerem com os dois primeiros álbuns do Iron Maiden. Merece mais pontos pela consistência. Enfim, gênero que já achei um dia bom, hoje acho um saco de ouvir. A experiência não foi totalmente ruim igual Chemical Brothers, tipo dá pra deixar rolar enquanto trabalha. Só não é mais meu estilo mesmo.

An absolute solid album with some great tracks. I think this album is a great representation of the genre, the sound, the messages, all of it. I will definitely be giving this album another run through to hear some of the lyrics again.

Did not realize Breaking the Law was Judas but here we are. Fantastic album, they remind me a lot of Iron Maiden but maybe a little more rockish than metal. Of course this list would pick "british steel" as the first album but I guess we have to take what we can get.

As soon as I saw that it was Judas Priest I got a little PTSD from a rough childhood experience; since I am on a different journey in my life where I am trying to embrace things that I didn’t like before, I decided to give the whole album a chance. I did and a few of the song still just don’t resonate with me but I did like the songs united and the ringer. I definitely don’t see myself ever listening to Judas Priest again though :-)

Sounds exactly like Iron Maiden, though its big hair metal. Breaking The Law case in point. Quite honestly, its interesting as a piece of metal history but I'm not particularly taken with the album.

It’s like hard rock except everyone sucks at their instrument so they try to lay down grooves that just suck. 4

British Steel marks the beginning of one of the most successful careers of a British heavy metal band. There are some really good titles on this album.

Nice, always liked Judas Priest. This is often regarded as their masterpiece, and I'm trying to figure out why. Don't get me wrong, there are genuine bangers on here, I just don't feel it hitting the same highs as Screaming for Vengeance does for me. Still, a great album and a very enjoyable listen, even if some of the tracks start to run together. Good old-fashioned heavy metal. Also "Breaking the Law" is a song I know very well thanks to Adventureland. Feel like I'm giving a lot of 4's lately, but that means the list is working like it should. Favorite tracks: Breaking the Law, United, Metal Gods, The Rage, Grinder. Album art: Definitely iconic. I prefer some of their more cartoony covers, like Screaming for Vengeance and Defenders of the Faith (what a cover), but this one is bold and instantly recognizable for me. Sort of reminds me of the hand we saw on the SOAD self-titled. 4/5

I haven't really listened to much Judas Priest - not sure why, as they would have naturally blended in with a lot of the stuff I listened to as a teen. I liked this - quite a few different styles in play, including Kiss style party rock in "Living After Midnight", Motorhead style straight ahead metal in "Rapid Fire", and anthemic stadium rock in "United". Fave track is "The Rage", though, for that funky underlying post-punk line!

Este es el ejemplo más claro hasta el momento de por qué quisiera medias estrellas. Es 3.5 en mi opinion. Muy cerca de ser un gran disco... Inicia con 3 canciones rompemadres (en especial me gusta Metal Gods), va de huevos y.... se le acaba la gasolina. Fuera de Living After Midnight y Steeler en mi opinion las otras 4 canciones (que terminan siendo casi medio disco) son muy de relleno como pa cumplir pero no proponen nada ni se destacan y suenan muy iguales. Muy buen disco pero más como para sacar las canciones que valen la pena. Cuando comparas que es el mismo año en el que salieron cosas como Back in Black, Ace of Spades o Blizzard of Ozz termina perdiendo más.

This was supposed to be my review for Prodigy (did not listen to Judas Priest): mmb-sss-mmb-sss-mmmb-ssss dance music. Wasn’t as into it when it came out as I am into this style now. Clearly an influential album. A lot heavier/more metal than like Fatboy slim or Moby (real or fake moby). Lots of these tracks could still come out today and be played, and they’re 20+ years old. That’s says something. I like a lot of this, some isn’t my style. Firestarter makes me laugh picturing the guy in the video. Not a great song. But the first tracks on the album still slap.

Un disco para agitar la cabeza de inicio a fin. Pareciera estar organizado en 2 bloques, cada uno de 4 canciones más pesadas que la quinta, lenta y con tintes de himno (United, Red white & blue). No solo rockean duro sino que presenta momentos muy melódicos que contrastan perfecto con las partes más agresivas del disco. Muy balanceado y entretenido. "BREAKING THE LAW, BREAKING THE LAW" Oh yeah, so metal. I find myself wishing this was less bon jovi and more black sabbath.

Not an album I ever would've sought out but yeah, there are some bangers on here. Rapid Fire is sick. I don't know if I liked anything else as much as it though. I know when it came out this was like METAL. But it feels kind of Dad-Rock in 2021. This isn't to say it wasn't great, it's just interesting how time changes perceptions.

Now here we go! I'm not going to lie, I haven't listened to a lot of heavy metal albums in their entirety ("heavy metal" in this case referring to the specific metal genre of heavy metal instead of the colloquial definition describing most aggressive music as heavy metal), but I think it is safe to say that this is the best heavy metal album I've listened to. I've sang the lyrics "Breaking the law, breaking the law," since I was a kid, after watching Beavis and Butt-Head sing it when Beavis chopped off Butt-Head's fingertip with a chainsaw. Anyway, one of the interesting things about this album being so good is that it is apparently the band's 6th release. In my experience the vast majority of bands are in decline at that point in their career, so it's cool to see such an iconic release at that stage of their career. My personal enjoyment: 4/5 Did it belong on this list: 4/5

De los álbumes que hemos escuchado hasta ahora este destaca, no sólo por el género, sino porque escucharlo me puso de buenas, con energía y ganas de hacer cosas. Es interesante pensar que en su época probablemente se consideraba música muy “ruda” o “pesada”, pero ahora hasta podrías ponerla de fondo para estudiar.

Heavy Metal demasiado Heavy para su época a mi parecer, varias canciones repetitivas pero que banda no las tiene. Sus riffs me parecieron bastante movidos pues se comienza a escuchar el speed

This bored me, for me it's at best an average entry for this genre. It's not a terrible album by any means but it gave me nothing. Also there are too many albums of this genre I'd rather listen to that would probably be 3* so it gets 2* from me.

Wasn't exactly what I was expecting from Judas Priest. I'm more familiar with Painkiller and that "side" of Judas. And Christians were up in arms about this band? Did they even listen to the albums? I loved the drums and the vocals, two iconic sounds, on likely an iconic album.

Man, 80s metal is so hit and miss. But THIS was a hit. Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden, and AC/DC defined a whole genre and spawned a dozen half-assed offshoots (coughHairMetalcough). This album is an absolute face-ripping example of the style and I love it. Normally, I comment on guitar tones but the real stand out on this album is the drummer. Dave Holland keeps things tight and crispy without the drums feeling overproduced. The whole tone and feel of the album is built on his nearly mechanical but powerful approach to his drums. Not much else to say. Just a great frikkin' album.
