Reviews (page 10 of 14)
The singles are good, the rest mediocre.
Not bad for what it is. Very listenable album.
Good
Oh come on 1001 albums generator, since it's St. Patty's day, you know that this was a very missed opportunity to give me an album with green on the album art. Anyways, jokes aside, I thought that Parallel Lines was a pretty solid album. I only really know Blondie from the really popular songs of theirs including Call Me, Heart Of Glass, and One Way Or Another (The latter two are off this album and the latter of those two i didn't know was by Blondie until i listened to this). This album reeks of 1978 which makes sense because that's when it released but i did enjoy the mix of disco and rock music. It may not hit as hard as some of my favorite rock albums but i still liked this one a fair bit. Best Song: 11:59 Worst Song: I'm Gonna Love You Too
Liked some of the deep cuts and appreciate the variety of genres on show here. In between a 3 and 4
3 only because heart of glass and one way or another are in there. Wasn’t into other songs
Generally enjoyable
Fav- one way or another 3.5/5
Not bad
Very well produced background music
Nice rock didnt really have anything stand out about it
The hits ("Heart of Glass", "One Way or Another", maybe "Hanging on the Telephone") are as solid as they ever were; the rest of the songs are a grab bag at varying levels of quality. An iconic album, yes, but not one that has survived the test of time as well as it might have.
Heart of glass is the jam
Ok...
I don't know, like, on one hand I really enjoy how unique and cutting edge this album is, but then on the other hand, it feels like it is missing something and doesn't get me to the next level. I love the synthesisers, I like the odd time signatures, the guitars are great, drums are full. Her singing is pretty good. The songwriting I feel like is OK, lyrics aren't that great, songs don't feel much above low budget garage rockers, wonder if they would have been famous with an unattractive lead singer. It's OK, I've just heard much better.
Like it. Might have the first time i listened to a entire Blondie alblum
There were some classic hits on this album, however, I was not totally impressed to make it sound like it is a top 1001 albums
7/10 overall decent. Mostly iconic cause of one way or another
Divina idola
Poppy 70s. Enjoyed the album.
I can see the importance of a female 80s style album in 78. Two iconic songs and a banger as last track, otherwise meh.
Very happy and dancing album. Most songs are about love or whatever, its fine, not my mood generally. One way or another is a banger.
Much better than just the singles. Fun album and worth a few more listens.
Not a huge fan of older pop songs but there were a few good ones. Probably wouldn’t listen again though.
For the most part, I knew what to expect here (which isn’t a bad thing). Nevertheless, I did get one surprise at the end: I’d never head “Once I Had A Love (AKA The Disco Song)” before. It’s pretty transparently an alt version of “Heart Of Glass” and I might like it more? Maybe that’s because I’ve heard HOG so many times that this just feels fresh. Who knows. Unfortunately I can’t listen to “One Way Or Another” without hearing Angelica Pickles from Rugrats, and that spoils one of this album’s anchor tracks for me. Anyways, as a fan of punk history, I think this is great and wish there were even more women in punk. Not quite enough saxophones to be on the same level as X-Ray Spex, but pretty close. Also, that Angelica thing really kills my ability to play this record start-to-finish.
It’s my birthday today, so I’ll try to keep this review brief. I’ve obviously heard “Heart of Glass” and “One Way or Another” before (thanks, TV commercials), but they were never my favorite ‘70s hits and I didn’t even realize they were by Blondie until today. Parallel Lines was perfectly middle-of-the-road for me – there may have been no tracks I absolutely loved, but there were some great moments scattered about and I never truly hated what I was hearing. Easily one of the better new wave albums I’ve had to listen to! Highlights: One Way or Another, Picture This, Pretty Baby, I Know but I Don’t Know, 11:59, Heart of Glass, I’m Gonna Love You Too
first album I bought on vinyl when I started collecting and is still a regular play. I love Debbie Harry !!
I liked the second half much more than the first, but I still just don’t like it very much.
Has some great hits that I love, but not every song hits the mark
Tykkäsin 3,5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
one way or another! Debbie harry schon gut. c
3/5
Pure blonde bliss with bangers to this date.
I’m going to have to say it; the shouted backing vocals on “Just Go Away” sound like they’re from Fraggle Rock. Otherwise, iconic album. Debbie Harry’s vocals are exceptional throughout. Musically strong set overall and it contributes to my view that that period in New York must have been one of the most musically fertile of all time.
It was okay. Got a bit bored towards the end. I think it’s great for a certain mood. Energetic and fun but only at the right time. Otherwise it’s not something special.
Classic
3 1/2 stars
Very well executed but not really something I’d listen to. Didn’t find it particularly interesting
A couple of fun hits but for the most part just mildly entertaining
Good time, but nothing really stuck
Fun. And I recognized a few songs.
Good disco songs. But I am here for the music, not for the song. 3/5
this is fun! really
Nothing special.Just some okay traks
Some classics on here yes, but everyone seems to ignore the pop filler crap, see “I know but I don’t know” and “I’m gonna love you too”. Probably won’t play this in its entirety again.
pretty good sounds throughout pop rock light hearted. i liked one way or another best but i already knew it and heart of glass. 3/5
5/10 - Favorite song: One way or another
1/12 bekannt 6,5/10 Beste Songs: Heart of Glass, hanging on the telephone, picture this
A classic 80s rock album. Very enjoyable listen but definitely a bit dated. Very good singer.
Blondie albums aren’t my cup of tea, I’ve always found them to be a stronger single band. Some songs stuck out to me, though, like 11:59. Very middle of the road
it was fine. I don't have a strong opinion.
Not for me
I liked this album more than I thought I would. The songs are pretty simple, but they’re catchy and have a little edge to them. I was just happy that Rapture wasn’t on this album. Man I hate that song.
Blondie does the upbeat Rock & Roll so much better than they do the slower jams. One Way or Another and Heart of Glass steal this album without debate but there are a couple of honorable mentions worthy of listening to as well. A good example of late 70’s/early 80’s rock.
Upbeat and more pop than I expected. A fun listen. No strong feelings to pull me far from center in either direction.
Blondie is kick ass! she did it all. Banging out shows at CBGBs entertaining the punks then pivoting and banging out shows on the Muppet Show stage for future punks. Couple classic we know and love on here, but the entire album is quality and Blondies voice shines.
it's got some bangers but can be grating on the ears.
One way or another, plastic hesrt
decent album, the classics carry and are classic for a reason.
5/10 28/01/2025
Great drums, awesome lyrics, seemed a bit like songs for a musical at certain points. 6.2/10
Has its moments... But in between I can't find much to love.
While some catchy tunes, there is an over amount of repetition in many of the tracks that makes even the shorter songs feel dragged out. The lead singer has so really strong vocals, and there are some great instrumental segments as well. I would listen to this in a car on the background, but not seek it out directly. 2.5/5
Straight classic
One Way or Another still slaps
Some great tunes, some I knew, some were brand new.
This is a good album. Every track has it's own distinct sound, but they come together to make a cohesive collection of songs. I find myself torn on how to rate this album, It's an objectively good album. However, I don't see myself replaying it all that often, and I think that is the reason I'm giving it this rating. Three stars. (Favorite track: Heart of Glass.)
Thisbone is good
A lovely album, with many hits, definitely a defining sound of the generation, utterly enjoyed it :)
70
Favorite Track: Heart of Glass
Poppy post-punk with DH's classic vocal delivery. Some rock n roll in there too. Already knew 4 tracks so can anything here surprise me? Ah well it seems the best tracks are the ones I already know. Still those ones are great! I'm Gonna Love You Too is a nice rock n roll diversion! Best track - I'm Gonna Love You Too 3 stars, but with some 5 star tracks.
liked a lot more than i thought i would. think that the hits (one thing or another, heart of glass) are overrated, but was surprised at the depth of the musicality, especially on "Fade Away and Radiate" and "Picture This". Reminded me at times musically of Oasis or the Smiths, but with an interesting added dimension of the female vocals.
Blondie – Parallel Lines – 1978 Track 1 – Hanging On the Telephone - Good energy; not my favorite song Track 2 – One Way or Another - Classic - She is grungier than I thought - I love 2:40 – 3:00 Track 3 – Picture This - Cool Track 4 – Fade Away and Radiate - This is my favorite on the album so far - Has a darker feel to it; a bit more instrumental than the others - Kind of more emotional than the first three tracks - Saved this song Track 5 – Pretty Baby - Feels like this one would be very popular at this time - Probably my second favorite thus far Track 6 – I Know But I Don’t Know - Dislike Track 7 – 11:59 - I like this one - Don’t love Chorus Track 8 – Will Anything Happen - Relatable song Track 9 – Sunday Girl - Cool Track 10 – Heart of Glass - Iconic, obviously Track 11 – I’m Gonna Love You Too - Ok PERSONAL ALBUM RATING: 6.7/10
U can tell its influence on current pop music. Fav songs hanging on the telephone
Would have been 2 stara except for Heart of Glass and One Way or Another. The rest was filler for me.
Some of these songs are pretty good. Others sound quite generic. Perhaps it’s because after all these years there have been a lot of copycats. For me it’s a perfect 3 - good, but doesn’t stand out in any way.
Maybe I wasn’t in the right mood, but I did not like this album as much as I thought I would. I am tired and it’s a super yucky cold rainy day. Anyway, although this was only 39 minutes it felt a lot longer and I couldn’t really get into it. Standout song: Heart of Glass - sure, I e heard it heaps before but it’s a gem. The rest? Meh. 01-11-2026
Finger in bum slapping around the sack
Objectively good, classic songs but not my vibe.
Fun listen. Of course Heart of Glass is fantastic, but it’s far from the only solid track on here. Overall, fun listen that I’ll come back to, but I don’t feel compelled to come back right away.
Fine
Some hits and some misses, maybe too many nothing burger songs that detract from the really good ones. Also are the first few songs just about stalking someone or...
I'm a big fan particularily of the bridge of one way or another
All of these songs felt slightly too fast and made me a bit on edge. Definitely some good songs but the live tracks were definitely unneeded.
I like the disco version Once I Had a Love (1978)
Heart of glass! Sunday girl! One way or another! Okay yes these are the classics…but for a reason! I will say that I perhaps didn't give this my full attention when listening and found that I wasn't as interested in the songs that hadn't been huge hits.
85/1001 First listen. I know two of these singles well. Never took an interest beyond that. This was one of the more enjoyable unheard albums to come from this list. I’m not so sure I’ll ever play it again though. Reluctantly three stars. 5/10
Amazing
Easy to listen to since I was in highschool when this album came out. The new wave thing crashed pretty quickly but the album bears all the transition be of the times: disco, pop, rock, and punk lite, her aspirations for being a girl rock band didn't quite but her lyrics were true to her vision; what I might call transfemetive. Not that girl but a new kind of of woman who is comfortable wanting the same things as the "Sunday Girl" buy different.
Today can last another million years Today could be the end of me Parallel lines
Parempi kuin odotin. 3/5.
Not a huge fan.
Pretty fitting album name to transition me into the second half of the list, bring it on! This album is solid too, quite a few hits, serviceable filler.
Okay, obviously Blondie is iconic and they have so so many catchy tunes and lines... but getting through this album felt like a hard task all day. Maybe it was because I was pretty busy and felt like I couldn't really feel all of what was given to me as I was driving down a busy street. Maybe I truly just didn't like it like I thought I would. It's definitely not a favorite. I came out of it feeling like I do understand Blondie a bit better as a band... and there are a few songs that I really liked. The time between those songs felt a bit agonizing, though, because many of their songs were looooong or too repetitive. Again, maybe this Blondie album was just not the one for me. That's okay. I still love them.
A couple good songs, overall slightly underwhelming
Alright, not exactly my type of music but I enjoyed myself!
I’ve always been largely indifferent toward Blondie. It’s fine if it’s on, but I don’t search out Blondie’s music and it doesn’t do a whole lot for me. Parallel Lines, probably the best of their work, still doesn’t do a whole lot for me. I don’t hate it or anything, and I’d say there’s even some stuff about it that I like, but it doesn’t really make me want to hear any more Blondie than I have to. For me, it’s decent but forgettable. 3/5
I unfortunately liked only the most famous ones like heart of glass and hanging on the telephone. Maybe id appreciate more songs if i listened more to them or the discography in general.
The album has some songs that are good and some that make me question what the point of the song was.
A lot of fun in some parts. A lot of filler in other parts.
on a first listen, can’t say i love this or that it does anything for me but it’s a good, solid album. maybe it would hit better in a different mood, i don’t know. the song i really liked was ’11:59’. ‘one way or another’ - i’ve kind of heard it too much without probably actually hearing it too much. ‘heart of glass’ was a song i knew but never knew who made it so that was a fun surprise. i want to say that ’just go away’ sounds familiar? 3.5/5 🌕🌕🌕🌗
A few bangers, a few wannabe bangers that don’t quite make it.
dupy nie urywa ale jest pare bangerów
3.0 RYM
Not bad, a few good songs. Not sure if it is worthy of this list, but I enjoyed it.
You can hear the punk influence burning throughout the record, but most of the real gut punches are reserved for the singles. Outside of those tracks, the album settles into easy listening territory.
sinceramente stupita di me stessa di aver riconosciuto one way or another solo dalle prime note
норм.
Not bad, slightly punky, but mainly 70's 80's pop. Some familiar tunes
It was ok for sure, I enjoyed the popular hits and it had it's moments, but overall 3
First Album: Parallel Lines by Blondie | Listened on" 30.03.2026 Notes: - Really catchy guitar riffs but sometimes they are just a little repetitive in chorus or verse - I can really hear the bass properly but not in a metal heavy way. Rather the cool rock way in quite a few songs - Majestic vocals, she smashes it, great rock voice - Pretty versatile voice as well within one album - Love the synths? I think, very cool instrumental on top of the classic - Nice drum rolls throughout many of the songs - There are stronger (beginning) and weaker songs (especially middle second half) Guitar riff from "Will Anything Happen" eg. 1;50 is scratches the brain Nice ending from Sunday Girl Good ending song: nice layered vocals, nice guitar solo and synths Overall: Pretty good album I am not a fan of it necessarily but it is good music 100% Unfortunately this will be only 3 stars. Fav song: One Way or Another (Their most popular song I fear😭)
Pretty good, not bad. Iconic historically. That's about it.
3,5/5
This slaps more than I thought it would
High 3
Lyrically, below average. Harmonically very predictable for the most part, and really weird at times. Not that good of a record, but Heart of Glass makes it and grants it a bonus point.
Easy listening power pop. Tough to dislike anything here but not really blown away by anything either.
Middle of the road good
Ok but quite forgettable
Not bad, a few bangers but a lot of filler
Fun.
It's a fun combination of pop, roxckand punk vibes. Not sure how big of an fan I am, but i definitely don't mind listening to this album.
Not bad.
Sång number 10 och 2 är bangers
I’m proud of myself for giving the whole album a chance. Had never heard 11:59 or Sunday Girl before. They were my “favorites.” I know Blondie and this album are beloved by many, it’s just not for me.
Good
pop rock perfection with some timeless hits. “One Way or Another” and “Heart of Glass” are obviously classics, but the whole album is so fun
One Way or Another is a hit. Enjoyed Picture This, which I didn't know. Overall... Meh. Not my type! But I see the substance
Ok
It's got a couple great songs and then a bunch of duds.
I dunno. I know they’re seminal post-punk/disco/rock’n’roll. I know they have a great singer. I didn’t know they had such a great guitarist. I know they’re hit songs. But there’s a lot of lees than great stuff on here, so I’m jot sure I’m sure about Blondoe.
Blonde was always heart of glass to me and it’s only lately that five started to warm up to the idea that they are more. Glimpses of a punk aesthetic and I can appreciate their early embrace of hip hop. So for that I’ll give this a 3.
Got a 7” of “Heart of Glass” which is a banger for all time, rest of the album is fine.
There's a charm to this, but I don't really like it. Heart of Glass is pretty good, but but the rest of it is just fine.
Heart of Glass! Kanskje.
I wish they leaned into the punk aspect of their music more. Some of the songs are absolute classics, I also really enjoyed 'I know but I don't know.' Overall, pretty fun and there are a lot of iconic hits in the album, but as I've complained with some other albums it just gets a bit same-y after a while because it doesn't feel like there is a story or an arc. Could've done with 3 or 4 less songs. 3.5
kinda of a punk album, a lot of repetitive songs boring, and then all of sudden boom heart of glass
This was crazy good, and very short (barely over half an hour). The album starts off hard and becomes more ethereal as it goes on until it hit that heart of glass sound then it goes back to the more rock sound. Pretty good album!
There are a few great songs in here and a bunch of other decent material.
Gøy lytting, glemt bort Blondie litt jeg.
3,5
Was okay, a couple hits I remember like one way or another
The lead singer has a very unique voice. Hit and miss album but some songs were a lot of fun.
I know more Blondie songs than I thought I did
Was only familiar with the singles from this record, and I was pleasently surprised by how good - better in some cases - the rest of the album is. It's a great balance of pop and rock sensibilities and the whole thing is worth a listen, although whether it's worth revisiting often is a different question as it's a bit lightweight.
Good!
Man the 70s seem like they would've been a blast. Great meld of pop, punk, and even a little disco. Favorite track: Heart of Glass
Fine to revisit, but no earth-shattering musical experience to be had.
I really loved playing a Guitar Hero-like game on my phone back in college, specifically the song "Hanging on the Telephone." It was simple and short.
Solid average album, nothing stood out to me though
Gostei, mas esperava um pouco mais..
Classic that I have heard but it’s not something I love! Good listen for anyone who wants to listen!
Love Blondie, but I think they have better albums.
Decent pop tracks but it doesn't move me emotionally or inspire.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Some really good hits, but not a coherent album.
Even if my favorite Blondie songs are on this album, the rest of it is easily forgettable and the voice can get quite unpleasant
3 or 4 standout tracks and some not so great/forgettable ones in there. Still decent though
IT was fine
Pretty fun. Probably would have listened more earlier in my life.
Have had this album for a long time. Always enjoyed it but it’s not an album I ever get much desire to go back to. But whenever I do, it’s a good listen, with some great, catchy and overall essential new wave songs. But other bands from this era - Talking Heads, Television etc. - have always appealed more.
Good band, love a female lead singer in a rock band
This was good. Hits aside it’s quite forgettable, but solid nonetheless.
Absolute steaming turds
A okazało się, że znam jej dwa utwory - "One Way or Another" i "Heart of Glass". Fajna płytka, technicznie bardzo solidna, skoczna, buja. Takie trochę The Go-Go's tbh. 3,5/5
Pretty solid album, I was surprised by the year it came out. I would have thought it was more recent.
Loved! Made me feel like a bee dancing.
2 beautiful hits 2 songs I have second chance (6&8) Rest set list maintains decent standard, but nothing interesting for me.
Nice but forgettable.
Some of their hits, good overall
Decent! Stand-out hits are great of course, although 'One Way or Another' is... kinda creepy.
i love her
278/1089 - The playing and singing is well done but I didn't like the songs (except for 11:59). It's kinda like the opposite of the Blue Album by Weezer (great songs but bad performances).
Appreciate it for how it likely stood out at the time it was released but that seems to be its greatest attribute. Aside from one single, does not stand out across time.
Duro
Average pop rock band is average
This was one of those exactly what I expected albums. I knew the hits and was not that surprised by the other tracks.
So blonde
Kinda feel harsh giving this a 3, but as an album it just kinda wore me out. Nearly 6 minutes of Heart of Glass is a lot. I might have preferred one of the earlier albums.
Best songs: One Way Or Another, Heart Of Glass Classic pop album with punk influences. It's a time capsule to the 80's, in good and bad. Overall a good album, but some songs, especially in the second disc feel a bit repetitive and samey. Its influence on the music of the 80's cannot be denied. 7/10
Upbeat, pop-rock with a couple of classics. And a few interesting turns. Enjoyable.
I’ve heard the big songs but everything else was new. Not my favorite but on some tracks (like 11:59 for example) they’re almost doing a proto-Smiths thing which was neat (2.5/5)
This was fun and upbeat, didn't reach the level of 4, but still a good listen.
Heart of Glass is an all-time disco song.
Overall I really liked this. Few tunes didn’t do it for me but a couple of classics
Debbie Harry is obviously a star but this isn’t the most memorable record.
Alternates between 1 banger and 3 stinkers
Picture This toi tosi vahvasti 50-luvun rokettirollit mieleen. Selkeä kolme tähteä. Ei missään nimessä lähelläkään neljää tähteä, mutta jos saa samalle levylle tungettua Hanging on the telephonen, One way or anotherin ja vielä Heart of a glassin, niin ei tästä huonompaakaan arvosanaa voi antaa, vaikka muu tavara onkin vähän huttua.
Went into this really excited. I like Blondie’s hit and there’s a couple of them on here but it was just fine? Like a solid album but I guess I expected more. One Way Or Another though is such a fucking good song, that riff permeating through the whole thing is so good!
This one is decent.
The big songs are big, the others kind of meh. There is a harder rock element here than I'd previously imagined from Blondie, which was a bit of a surprise. It's also better than like 80% of the bands called new wave out there, but that's not saying much, and it's also, at least for me, because they don't sound as new wave as the most annoying bands in that genre. So two baning tracks, One Way or Another and Heart of Glass, and a bunch of stuf I forgot about 5 minutes after the album was over. 3/5.
OG rockin, fun stuff. Heart of glass is a 10/10
i like this album all well and good, the drums go crazy a lot of the time. but something’s missing from it for me, something about it is very sauceless
Great album!
I like this album, is quite playful and with a great voice of the lead singer Fav song - One Way Or Another and Heart Of Glass 3/5
Brings back memoies my friend had this album right when it came out !!! Great memories
It's like an album of A sides and B sides. Love the Blondie hits, but the other tracks are a little humdrum. 'Pretty baby' was the only other stand out track that sounded interesting.
fun stuff!
I'd only listened to what was on the radio back in the day. Surprisingly solid record. 3.5 stars
I like it but wish I loved it.
Some absolute classics but the rest is very filler
I hoped to like this more. Maybe I'm not being fair with it? The songwriting, playing, production all just kind of felt very ordinary. Some good pop songs and presented in a fine pop punky kind of way.. Just didn't grab me.
I swear I have heard the first 2 songs before
3/5 Probably my favourite New Wave band, they've been consistent in their quality all the way since the 70s. There's some real bangers on this album, could listen to this over and over again.
I can imagine rating this 5/5 if I had been 18 at the time it came out.
Some pop, some disco, some filler to round out an album with timeless hits like One Way or Another and Heart of Glass. This was the first time I'd ever seen the lyrics for Heart of Glass, which I've never understood. Cryptic lyrics in some other songs.
3.5/5
Was pleasantly surprised by the variety of sounds on this album. It's not one I would return to in its entirety, but there are a few gems like "Fade Away and Radiate" that aren't just Blondie's greatest hits.
Pretty classic
Another in the pattern of somewhat boring outside the singles albums.
The album was okay. 'Hanging On The Telephone' was a groovy start. 'One Way Or Another' is a classic. 'Fade Away and Radiate' and '11:59' were nice. Didn't care too much for the rest.
⭐️Fade Away And Radiate
Two well known hits included
Its ok
Few hits that I know of, but the rest of the album falls pretty flat. Otherwise, its a decent record that I probably won't be replaying very often. 3/5.
I love and respect Blondie's energy but good lord it's hard to match it. I don't really see this going into my regular rotation, but I really admire how much fun she seems to have! Also it's a shame this one doesn't even have my favorite Blondie song on it :(
Ohhhhhh, Heart Of Glass, THAT'S what the song is called!! Frankly it's unlikely that I'll come back to this, the songs are all good on their own but quickly blur together as an album. Enjoyable in the moment though! Standouts: One Way Or Another • 11:59 • Heart Of Glass
"new wave" pop with a bit harsher edge
I enjoyed this
Oldschool, like that it that way.
I had higher expectations based on the two songs I already knew. Oh well.
This was a fun one. I like disco. Didn't do anything too outstanding for me though.
Better than expected but I still HATE One Way Or Another.
I knew heart of glass which I love but the rest of the album was mostly forgettable and not of note.
Ensuite, il y a "Heart of Glass"...
Some great, some good, some alright
This is exactly what I expected Blondie to sound like. Nothing special. It’s not bad either . This sort of had the feel of what the Velvet Underground would have sounded like if they weren’t so drug induced and dark. Choice cut: Pretty Baby
Several classic jams on here that are still fun
She can sing. Wish it had a little more but still pretty fun.
Sprawl II
This was better than I was expecting. While I like the big songs like Heart of Glass, there was a lot more variety in style here, and some downright rock n roll bangers.
A good album but probably wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to it in full. Some classics on here and appreciate their value. Nothing offensive so will score middle of the road!
She's good but a lot of this is very forgettable. I'm listening to it and get the sense she's capable of better. Needs a couple more bangers. I thought we'd got on to another banger but Spotify has moved onto a different album lol
Fun listen. Heart of Glass is by far my favorite. Still has that disco feel to it. Not sure why it gets tagged as "punk" by some. It's more early new wave if anything.
Very throwback feeling more than I would have thought. It’s ok. I think I like “Heart Of Glass” more than I thought. That’s it. Definitely better than my other recent albums.
What a nice one! Great guitar work, very distinct. Superb drumming 3 has beautiful singing 4 a great power ballad. With a very cool transition rhymicly towards the end. Pretty Baby is cool as well. Nice group vocals. 11:59 is great. Love vocal and keyboard lines. Bass, guitar, and especially drums sound great as usual. Love the chorus on 8 9 is sweet. Good vocals from Harry. Heart of Glass is a classic for a very good reason. It's kind of ideal as a rock single from that era. The song that you are always happy when it's on the radio. Addictive tune. Just go away is a nice closer. Good blend between guitar and voice. A very solid rock album with some pretty significant highlights. Good addition here.
Some real earworms on this album. But between the hits I found a lot of filler. Inoffensive, but couldn’t find a lot to really get lost in. Standout(s): Hanging on the Telephone Heart of Glass
I'm not usually a fan of 70's pop rock and this was no exception
It’s got the hits! And some other songs or whatever. I don’t care.
Started strong, rest was medium. Some classics
Some epic tracks, and some that are more of a miss
some absolute classics (heart of glass, one way or another), but mostly filler. if only call me was on here too.
Decent. They have that one song
It was fine
Too country for me
Me gustó
Big big fan of the first half of this album, but the back half loses steam.
Sometimes there's an obvious reason why they chose the singles to be singles. Two truly iconic tunes on here with another ten less successful attempts. 3*
Alright. Couple bops. Not timeless like I thought. DEBBBBIE!
Loads of great hits, few duds. A really really solid 3 pushing 4
Cute.
The album cover made a bad first impression but I found the material reasonably enjoyable; I think it was within striking distance of 4 stars. Highlight: "Heart of Glass" (which I also recently heard covered by Miley on Plastic Hearts).
Not excited to listen to Blondie because lowkey every time I've tried to listen to anything not-Call Me, I've disliked it. But I'm open. Love Debbie Harry as a bi-con and general girl icon. I like this album cover. Hanging on the Telephone: Pretty groovy rock n roll, actually. I like it much more than I'd thought. Cool guitar and I think Harry's vocals are pretty cool. And a cool ending as well. One Way or Another: Had NO idea this was a Blondie song. Isn't this Pat Benatar? I like it, obviously. Classic. The instrumentals are a little more lethargic and spongy than I thought but Harry makes up for it with stabbing vocals. Wow, cool guitar in the middle here that I had no idea even existed. Picture This: A little tamer than the last two songs, kinda ABBA and I don't dislike it. Not the bestest song I've ever heard but it's not bad by any means. I think it's nice and sentimental. Just not my style. Fade Away and Radiate: Very interesting beginning. Very alieny. I like it. Then it gets sorta boring again. Fade out. Yuck. Alright song. Pretty Baby: Also reminds me of ABBA. Nice and sweet but I don't love it that much. It's fine. I Know but I Don't Know: Haha, this is fun. Almost gives me a little Le Tigre at the beginning with that spoken stuff. Nice riff. Liking it. 11:59: Also happens to be the time that I turn in every single assignment ever. #Relatable! An alright song. Anything Will Happen: Alright. I think it's pretty okay but I had to go back and relisten because it really didn't grab me. It's pretty good. Sunday Girl: Aw, this is sweet. A pretty sweet band. American idealism (she sounds British, a little bit, though)! Very, very sweet. Heart of Glass: I've always found this song a little eerie and not-that-good-for-how-popular-it-is. I don't like her vocals or the pacing and I'm not huge on the lasery sound but it has some catchy party and I like the tktktktktk staccato at the beginning. It's alright but not really worth being one of their most popular songs. I'm Gonna Love You Too: I think this is a pretty charming and nicely fast paced song. I think this is one of the better songs on the album. Just Go Away: Whatever. I like the little gargly voice she doesn on "Go away!" kinda funny. Guitar and voice is kinda beautiful. Man, I just don't think this is particularly exciting or well produced or whatever. I think "cool rhymes with fool" is one of the lamer lyrics to be written by any rock band ever. I would have much preferred the last song as an ending than this one. Short n sweet album here! Blondies are quite short and quite sweet so it makes sense. I like it. I don't love it. I think I might listen to Hanging on the Telephone, One Way or Another, I know but I Don't Know, Sunday Girl, and I'm Gonna Love You Too a little more but none of them are mind-blowing. Solid 3, maybe even a weak 4 -- 3.67?? I like it. God bless Debbie Harry. Still a cool album cover and a fun band, I guess, just a little bland for me.
Mijn favoriet: Heart of Glass. Wist niet dat het origineel van One One or Another van Blondie was.
I ws looking forward to listening to Blondie, but oh boy, I think I was expecting way more from them. . The album is ok, but the lyrics are too simple and the instrumental is ok. Apart from the singles ("One way or another" is quite poor in lyrics), the songs donshine much and the album overall is meh.
Good music, but not much to add. Very much of its time I guess.
It was interesting
Great record
"One Way or Another" is pretty good. And quite iconic. The rest seems decent, but ultimately forgettable. 3/5
Miley Cyrus did Heart of Glass better, she probably would’ve done them all better, honestly.
I enjoyed the few songs that I knew but didn’t feel anything towards the others. I’m going to need another listen.
Very fun, a good listen, makes me happy.
I do like Blondie, a classic CBGB's band, but mainly the classics... 3.5 stars
***An ok album
3.
Good album! That one sounded the most like what I listen to on the daily, especially the beginning of the album. There was some songs I didn't care for, hence why only 3 stars.
Sure, this is a fine album it's just not something I'm going to listen to by choice. One Way or Another & Heart of Glass are obviously big hits. Since this came out in 1978, I'm sure it influenced a lot of artists after her. 5.75/10 (2.875/5)
Listened to the vinyl version of the album. I knew more songs off this record than I thought I would. Pretty solid.
It was good. A nice pop-rock track with hits thrown in. The tracks, apart from the hits, were decent at best. Favourite Track(s): One Way Or Another, Heart Of Glass Least Favourite Track(s): Picture This
couple of classics!
Pretty solid, a few songs I’ll listen to again
I was expecting to rate this higher than I did - maybe my timing for listening to the album wasn’t good but it just didn’t keep my attention aside from the radio hits. 3.5 stars.
3.5
It’s pop - some of it very good. All of it, mostly, not for me.
Nice rocking album with solid vocals , good balance of music and quite a few hits
Some great songs. Love her voice
Solid
Got some bangers on it tbf
Overall there's something about her voice and the chord progressions that itch my ears nicely, I like the mixing in of minor chords here and there, the sort of rush off feeling of the melodies that give it flavour. More rock pop than new wave though. Ong its that one song! (One way or another) Pretty baby is nice 11:59 is such a vibe for like the last summer before university, nostalgia and epicness and dancing. ONG ITS THAT ONE SONG (heart of glass) Its that one song! (Bang a gong)
i like some of these songs
I mean… That's all right
