Neil Young
2/5
I suppose these “classic rock” albums had a new and exciting sound in the late 60’s/early 70’s, but after over 50 years of truly innovative music, they just don’t hold up. Not a bad album per se, but definitely not a great or even really good one either. Meh.

Beastie Boys
4/5
Awesome, irreverent, and sassy. However, while pretty good, it’s not nearly as good as Paul’s Boutique, which is a classic
The Band
4/5
folksy, bluesy, americana, rock. A great example of "classic rock," or to quote the famous commercial, "Is that Freedom Rock? Well, turn it up man!"
Röyksopp
3/5
It’s dance music. Not exactly an unpleasant listen, but not something I’ll be giving a repeat listen.
Dr. Dre
2/5
The Mamas & The Papas
4/5
Bebel Gilberto
1/5
She has a nice enough voice, but this is one of the most uninteresting pieces of music I’ve ever heard. Music is supposed to make you feel something, and all this album made me feel was bored.
Frank Zappa
5/5
This is a fantastic album that really highlights Zappa’s composing and guitar playing genius.
Public Enemy
4/5
Talking Heads
4/5
The Waterboys
5/5
Fantastic album. Classic Irish-Folk-alternative from the 80’s
The Jam
4/5
This is a great punk pop album. Awesome bass lines
Pretenders
4/5
Pretty good album. Classic punk pop sound.
The Pharcyde
3/5
Bee Gees
2/5
An album where they sing very high in their vocal ranges without popping into their disco era falsettos. Not great, but pretty interesting.
Queen
5/5
Awesome album. Queen was such a talented and entertaining band and they show it off on this album. One of their best!
The xx
1/5
This is not a very good album.
David Bowie
4/5
While this is far from Bowie’s best, it’s still a pretty good album.
Bob Dylan
4/5
Classic Dylan. Great album
The Birthday Party
2/5
Oh look, another terrible Sex Pistols wanna be band.
Screaming Trees
2/5
not even the bands best album.
Femi Kuti
4/5
Björk
2/5
My Bloody Valentine
2/5
Parts of this album reminded me of Harry Parch. This is not a good thing.
Traffic
4/5
Pretty good jazzy rockin album. Steve Winwood has a great voice.
The Doors
3/5
No great, not terrible. I think that the keyboards as lead instrument is more interesting than Jim Morrison.
Bruce Springsteen
2/5
On this album “The Boss” sounds more like “The ineffective middle-manager.” Creative entropy hits some artists extremely hard.
Koffi Olomide
3/5
Fever Ray
1/5
You go to that trendy and expensive new hair boutique only to realize - too late! - that the stylists aren’t talented enough for Great Clips. This album is the Surströmming-infused water the place provides.
Elton John
5/5
Great artist. Great album
The Mothers Of Invention
5/5
The first real conceptual rock album? Biting satire and social commentary? Making fun of hippies (bums - bad karma thing to do)? This album has it all and is an absolute masterpiece. Zappa was a genius
Peter Gabriel
4/5
One of the classics from the 80’s.
The War On Drugs
3/5
Death In Vegas
1/5
This is not a good album.
Steve Winwood
3/5
Not his best. Not terrible though
Pere Ubu
3/5
Good, not great album for supposed big influence on indie/alternative rock scene. Meh.
John Lennon
2/5
Lenin’s solo work suggests that either Paul was the true creative force behind the Beatles or Yoko (Oh No!) is a creativity vampire who drained Lennon completely
The Zombies
5/5
I was not expecting this to be such a great album. Fantastic and interesting musically. Fun harmonies.
The Stooges
3/5
Pretty good first album for seminal punk band.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet
5/5
Dwight Yoakam
4/5
Pretty good album with a more 80’s country sound
Santana
3/5
Great guitar player
Marvin Gaye
4/5
MusicLly most of the songs sound very similar. It’s good music. This is a classic because of the emotion of the album, written and performed right after a divorce. Pain, longing, anger, despair, and melancholy, all on display.
Dire Straits
4/5
This album is much more than the song with the hit video from MTV. Pretty good album overall. I especially liked the final, title track, Brothers in Arms
Supergrass
3/5
Good, not great album. A good example of late Brit-pop
Merle Haggard
3/5
I really enjoyed the first song. Then I enjoyed the very similar sounding second song. Then I listened to the entire album and realized it was basically one song, done 12 different ways. I imagine this was the ‘country pop’ of the 60’s. Not bad, but definitely not great.
Khaled

Elliott Smith

4/5

Os Mutantes
3/5
David Bowie
3/5
Intersting and satisfying album.
Amy Winehouse
4/5
She’s got an amazing voice. I can’t lie though, it’s a little unnerving how catchy the song Rehab is, considering how her life ended.
Sly & The Family Stone
4/5
Pretty good album. There is one song with a rather problematic title.
Isaac Hayes
3/5
The Charlatans
3/5
Not a bad album. I liked it better when Oasis did it though
Brian Eno
3/5
Linkin Park
2/5
Bonnie Raitt
2/5
I remember this album from the late 80’s mostly because my mother bought it. It’s not bad, but for me it’ll always feel and sound like mom music.
Bruce Springsteen
5/5
Sebadoh
4/5
Johnny Cash
5/5
Fun live album. The banter really displays Cash’s personality and ability to connect with his audience
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five

4/5
Neneh Cherry
3/5
The Verve
3/5
Good, not great album
Black Flag
3/5
Fun, classic punk. Not as interesting as some other bands, but still pretty good. Black Flag’s most interesting work is Rollins’ spoken word material
Eminem
2/5
Interesting only insofar are this is considered a great album. Proving once again that people were desperate to claim products of the 90’s/00’s matched the excellence of those from the 80’s, even when they clearly did not
Adele
3/5
No denying she has a great voice, but the songs don’t compare to other great singers. It’s not a bad album, it’s just also not particularly an interesting album. Meh.
Big Brother & The Holding Company
2/5
Joplin's backing band. Not a Joplin fan and the guitars have that sloppy sound that permeates so much hippie music. The bass is on point though.
Queen
5/5
Every song on this album is great. There are some classics and some under appreciated bangers also.
Arctic Monkeys
3/5
Serge Gainsbourg
4/5
Pretty good album. I know or Gainsbourg from his Bonnie and Clyde song that Luna covered.
Alice In Chains
3/5
This album reminds me of college, and that while 90’s music was okay, it was nowhere as good as the music produced in the 80’s
The Smashing Pumpkins
3/5
A couple of great songs and a bunch of average ones. Pretty good album for the 90’s
The White Stripes
4/5
I’ve never been sold on the greatness of the White Stripes others seem to see. This album starts off with an insanely famous song. Some other songs are pretty good, some are okay.
Silver Jews
4/5
The Pogues
4/5
One of my all time favorites! This brought back great memories of college!

Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
3/5
Simon & Garfunkel
4/5
Great song writing and vocals. This is a all around great album.
David Crosby
2/5
Maybe the blues influenced rock of the late sixties was new and innovative at the time, but after 40 years of hearing it, it just sounds old, and the guitar playing is sloppy.

I know there are some good albums in this genre, and he even made some good music. However, none of it is on this album of what sounds like stoner-cajun-faux voodoo garbage
Blondie
