Pretty neat. Something odd with the Heart Of Glass/Once I Had A Love combo.
Let Miley cover them all
Wow! An album full of cleaning supplies commercials music!
One Way or Another is still a top tier song, as is Heart of Glass. The rest was okay. Not my favorite but the talent and Harry’s iconic voice are clear. 3
I knew of Blondie prior but outside of her hits handnt heard anything of hers. This was a surprisingly good album but not outstanding. I would go a 3.5 if I could.
Blondie kinda rules
3.5 Nice lil album with two bangers
3.5, but rounding down. There were some fun songs on here I was unfamiliar with, but it started rubbing me the wrong way by the end.
6’5/10
Nice - perfect vintage pop
Comparing this album to their first one, you can definitely tell that they evolved as a band. If I was around during the time this album came out, and had a better awareness of what was going on with the current state of music at this point in time, this probably would of had a bigger impact one me. It’s a decent album, but their are several other new wave albums I would favor more than this one.
Blondie is one of those bands that had lots of hits but was completely off my radar despite me knowing multiple of their songs. I liked Parallel Lines, but nothing about it felt particularly magical. It does feel like a snapshot of pop music from the era, though, so it's worth a listen if you like danceable music from the late '70s.
New wave pop punk. Good guitar and vocals.
Heart of Glass is outstanding, the rest is just good.
While Debbie Harry's vocals aren't really my favorite, this album is a 70's classic and my mom would kill me if I didn't like it. I think there's A LOT of good stuff in this album that most of the punk bands I know and love today owe to Blondie and their style.
Catchy, fun, and full of the hits. Still nothing I feel a need to revisit, happier having it come on in a grocery store.
6.5/10
Not a huge blonde fan. A couple of tracks I like outside of the singles
Blondie at her best. Some nice songs but also some boring songs. ok.
Very good album with a couple bangers! So many different styles. Her voice is one of a kind, the band is very good and you can hear how influential she was…the GoGos, the Bangles, the punk, the disco. Not sure I would just put it on tho.
The album overall wasn’t amazing but there were some good songs; and I don’t mean the popular ones (though those were good too).
This was a fun one. I knew the hits but never dove deeper into Blondie’s discography. I don’t know if I’d return to this but I wouldn’t be mad if someone put it on.
Pretty average album. Couple of well known songs and a bunch of just okay ones. Nothing really stood out, but nothing was bad either. 3/5 Probably won’t listen again
3.5. some great classics, but didn't love any of the album tracks I didn't already know.
Not my style but good to know where "One way or another" comes from
With another listen I might give it 4 stars but right now that is where it stands.
Ehh, not really my thing.
Blondie seems to have a multigenerational fan base. I've got nothing against Blondie. This album was fun, nostalgic, and a bit uneven.
Not bad. Some standouts, but a fair amount of ho-hum songs.
A main origin of Pop-Rock and clear predecessor of No Doubt, I was pleasantly surprised by most of this album. Not every song is perfect or the most catchy, but this was a clear start for a huge genre that began to emerge after
I liked! Lots of stylistic/groovy things I liked, none of the lyrics necessarily jumped out to me though
Good album with punchy songs
Liked it but perhaps didn't know it as well as the listening covered...
musik aus der kindheit. dachte es wäre punkiger und frecher, nicht amerikanischer „schlager“. highlights sind „hanging on the telephone“, „sunday girl“ und natürlich auch „heart of glass“.
Guter solider Rock, sehr erfrischend. Und das immer hörenswerte Heart of Glass wieder mal neu entdeckt.
Mäßig interessanter Pop Rock.
Didn’t realize the first time around how much punk influence is in her music
A blast from the past! Loved listening to this. Loved reliving the disco beat!
I liked the first song best
This was (I'm pretty sure) Blondie's breakout album and is pretty typical of the pop-almost-punk-rock of the era. This album includes a few of Blondie's big hits that I remember from my end-of-high-school days: One Way or Another and Heart of Glass. I liked 'em then and I still like 'em now, even though I probably haven't heard them in a few decades. I wasn't familiar with the album, but the sound is unmistakably Blondie throughout. Of the songs I didn't know, I enjoyed Hanging on the Telephone the most.
I've never listened to a Blondie album before and I certainly didn't realize they were in the scene before 1980. I enjoyed this album quite a bit but I was almost just more impressed in the versatility and proto-80's and 90's sounds. Track by track: 1 - I like the simplicity and driving rhythm. 2 - Instantly recognizable. Foot tapper for sure. This song is a classic and I feel like it still gets used today due to it's catchy nature and re-interpretable lyrics. I'm not sure if I've ever heard the end of this song. Lived up to the hype it's a bop. 3 - Loving the layered vocals. Pretty good track. 4 - Getting a Halloween vibe at the beginning. Now as the instruments come in, I'm hearing a Pink Floyd influence. Didn't expect that. 5 - Totally different vibe. More of a throwback. I hear 1950's modernized. 6 - My least favorite track so far. Just isn't really taking me anywhere. 7 - Almost had a Grease/Musical vibe. Its ok. 8 - Doesn't feel like a 1970s song at all. If I heard this I would guess late 80's. It's pretty good. 9. Cute little pop ditty. I can jam to this. 10 - Jumps right into it and grooves immediately. Absolute classic. Can we call this proto-80's pop? 11 - Hard to follow the last track and they didn't. This is bottom 2 tracks so far. 12 - Another mediocre one for me.
Good songs, a couple classics.
Nice album. I remember some of these tracks from my youth. Give this 3.5 stars.
Considering how iconic Blondie is, I was a little disappointed in this album, I expected a little more ‘wow’ factor, that’s probably on me! Solid 3 Solid album
Good, but not anything ground breaking or super exciting (for me) I'm sure it would have been different if I'd heard it when it first came out. Another band that I'd only really heard their big hits and not delved into full albums. Fave Track: Heart of glass
Solid album. There’s a couple stinkers though.
Blondie is a fun band. It's pop rock before the term existed. I didn't know Debbie Harry was almost 80! Good listening experience. 3.5
It's a fun album, kinda cheesy, early-80's pop-rock. The hits are the hits and Debbie has some range, but overall mid.
About what I expected which was a respectable album with some highlight singles, definitely not something I’ll need to return to
Was ein guter Produzent ausmacht. Schönes Album. Deborah Ann „Debbie“ Harries Stimme braucht es aber auch.
3 stars... new wave rock from the late 70's... Heart of Glass the most famous song
short before the super hit line
It's amazing that a band as eclectic as Blondie made more or less a straight up pop record. Blondie was influenced by so much from New Wave to punk top surf rock to disco and yet, this is a pretty standard pop rock affair. Debbie Harry's amazingly emotional and moody voice is so wonderful all over this record. A solid record from a great band, but this definitely feels like Okay Songs around a couple Phenomenal Songs.
Completely fine. Some honest-to-goodness hits on this one, but not something that really sticks with me. I can imagine this being an album I throw on at a party as a crowd pleaser, because the songs are genuinely good, but I'm probably not going to seek it out on my own most days. I do like when Blondie skews more toward the punk side of their sound, and the lyrics are pretty satisfying. It's not hard to see why hits like Heart of Glass and "One way or another" took off like they did.
Musically fun. Can see the influence it had on the 80s music to come. Stronger second half.
Not the biggest fan of Blondies sound but I knew a few songs from this album that I enjoyed.
Other than the hits it fell a bit flat for me. Sound felt a bit repetitive and no real hidden gems here.
70s pop . A few recognizable bangers
Classic, Fun, Poppy music. Of course you have to love "One Way Or Another" and "Heart of GlasS" but there are several certified bops on this album that do make me want to bounce around. Definitely worth a listen all the way through to get a taste of some of the other catchy tunes like "Picture This" and "I Know But I Don't Know." Perhaps it is just the big drum parts and loud doubled and panned guitars, but the instrumentals in the aforementioned songs are remarkably progressive and punky whilst still feeling very classic blues/RnR/pop/surf-rock.
Definitely a classic that had my head bobbing along at least a few times.
Great beginning to journey. Loved vocal's voice and also electro coming from back was pretty good.
Classic rock, love the guitar and music but the singing style is not my favorite. One way or another is iconic. Picture this is my favorite song on the album
As to be expected with some of these, I felt it was dated. I’m sure it was a great album at the time.
Okay, hørte ikke hele
Not bad!
This is solid! A couple of classic hits here too.
Never listened to an album by them before. Not bad
Блонди это не four blondies. Но почему-то думаю, что я их всё равно слышал. В принципе подходит чтоб проснуться этим новогодним утречком ) Оказалось, одну песню я и правда слышал. One way or another была в каком-то фильме, потому моему уху она однозначно знакома. В целом послушалось легко, особых ощущений не вызвала.
I am not that big Blondie Fan so Ibwas not impressed when I was young neither now 40 years later. It is nice to listen but that’s it for me. Nachgeordnet Music.
Heart of Glass - Naja - ok
This album landed about two years before I got hooked to the radio at age 12 and fell in love with music. So, beyond One Way and Heart of Glass, I don’t know the majority of the songs. And they don’t speak to me today at 56 years old. I’m lacking the nostalgia factor to rate this more than a 3.
Die bekannten Lieder sind gut, der Rest ist mir zu rockig
Not a bad album. I like Blondie but have never heard more than the hits.
Some good songs, most are just mediocre
Not my favorite Blondie album, but still good.
Some real classic tracks, and overall good, but not the most satisfying listen as an album.
Blondie is one of the few New Wave bands I like. Many of the songs on this album still hold up.
I like blondes, but blondie doesn’t really do much for me. The house of glass song is cool, but meh.
I like it
hanging on the telephone. erste song schomol geil. synthi funi. one way or another kenni sogar. geile sooong?? Blondie isch cool. Picture this biiitz schwächer aber trotzdem e geili idee für en song Fade Away and Radiate. I know but i dont know. chli herter (jo sevi s isch nöd würklich hert) riff recht geil. mega geile song. 11:59. geili drumfills geili giti riffs. will anything happen sochli mid sunday girl cute aber nöd meh, gutu links mit viel chorus isch cool. heart of glass. jo de isch besser als de rest. falsetto isch hammer. chorus super mit de tüüfe stimm. IGSCHOBNE 3/4 whaaaaat. guuete song im gonna love you too. uptempo funny. de kenni glaub au. just go away. wieder schöni gitarre und so. sie singt au super. ÖUÜÜÖOÖÖU goht hard.
finds albumcover schomal ziemli hard oke für 78 findis extrem "moderni" musig zB bi pretty baby ghörtmers denn wieder chli dass es us de 70er jahr isch, gfalltmer jz ehrlich gseit jz au nöd mega, s wiederholte "prettyy babyy" ischmer recht schnell uf de sack gange damn I know... sehr tighti drums 11:59 findi sehr cool ich lieb eifach hammond örgelis, chasch nüt falsch mache heart of glass bangger ok ich finds jz nach öppe 2/3 sehr cool, aber es plätscheret für mich chli hii leider chanmer vorstelle, dass in andere fäll mier "I'm gonna love you too" hert wür uf de sack gah aber ich liebs gad, es isch iwie so chli verspielt und funny ui am schluss no chli live-lied und ich find d frau blondie tönt nöd so stilsicher leider (au wenn get it on en rieeeeese banger isch)
6/10 - Some good songs not ideal voice imo
Next 5 songs played by my Spotify Algorithm: The Cure - Jumping Someone Else's Train Talking Heads - Thank You For Sending me an Angel The Kinks - Tired of Waiting for you Squeeze - Up the Junction Elvis Costello - Welcome to the Working Week
More of a 3.5 will have a re listen when I’m in a better mood
Two giant hits, rest is very good rock and roll. Needs more listens to really understand if the whole album is top 1001
Good pop with a dash of disco
Only the famous two songs were nice. Everything else was too simple for me.
Has some great songs on it. Otherwise forgettable
It's fine. Nothing I can really complain about, and the hits are hits for a reason. 3.5/5
Helt ok. En del välkända låtar, men var inte riktigt vad man var sugen på.
Fun
While I don't think Blondie is an artist I would necessarily listen to, I enjoyed listening to this. She has a very unique vocal style and I see why she is so influential. Also wasn't expecting to hear two very famous tracks on here but was pleasantly surprised.
Low expectations. It slaps. Not sure i would relisten but its good to know the context. Its dad music.
Some really fun songs on there
Blast from my past.
Listened On: 2023/11/01, 2023/11/02 Favorite Tracks: - One Way Or Another -* Picture This -* Fade Away and Radiate -* 11:59 -* Sunday Girl - Heart of Glass
Decent
It's ok, I used to own this. I found the LP in a charity shop, but traded it for something else at the record shop. At first I thought maybe I should have kept it but actually it's not great.
Love it. Forgot how much fun guitar is in here too
3 average per track.
Generally good album with solid songs. Not everything is is a banger but doesn’t need to be. Heart of glass and one way or another are enough to carry the whole album.
Some classics on this one. I liked their more punk songs. Their slower stuff was a little generic.
This was fun! Classic 80s album.
Paar ULTRA starke Song, ein paar gehen unter. Stilistisch abwechslungreich/inkonsequent 3-4/5
The most famous songs are the ones where Debbie Harry shows off her singing. The rest of the band is there just to support her at this point. Some say "mix of genres" but some songs are just everywhere, and they just vibe off weirdly.
3/5. Catchy, poppy, upbeat.
Decent collection of songs. Lots of variation in quality though.
meh
One or two classic tracks, wonderful recognisable voice, but somehow lacking in a wish to replay other than the two tracks I recognise from frequent play.
It was fine I guess. Great for 80s music... but I am not from that era lol.
I can get behind it
bouncy, little bit of Southern Culture on the Skids, radio pop disco adjacent
got some good tracks
Some great songs, nice vibe n vocals, really need to come back and listen to it again
Was an alright album was surprisingly decent
Easy listening Rock and Roll. Fun to listen too.
Was never really a fan of One way or another but Fade Away and Radiate is definitely a GOOD SONG and so is Sunday girl.
Pararía una bala por Blondie
A few familiar songs and overall better than I expected. Was more enjoyable than a lot of the other old albums recently
Good album, pretty much what you'd expect
Not bad but a bit too generic for me (appreciate that she probably created this sound lol)
Some iconic tunes in here but quite samey
Nice
Jammy, enjoyable
Fun listen; especially for the 70s, the sound is really ahead of the curve; definitely can see myself going back to it but idk HOW often
Heart of Glass is a standout, but overall just good not great
I wanted to rate this higher than I did. The hits a great! But otherwise I will not listen again.
Fun late 70s light punk pop
Fantastic 3.7
Not too shabby
The hits are great. The rest was just there.
Didn't know what to expect out of this one. Had more rock n' roll than I expected. Fun songs that are good. A little beach rocky and poppy. A little too monochromatic to be a 4, but it's in the 3.5 range.
Pretty solid album. One Way or Another really slaps if you're actually listening on purpose. Feel like I've only heard that song in the background. I know but I don't know jams. Heart of Glass will be stuck in my head the rest of the day. Solid album.
3/5. A few classic songs I have heard before mixed with mostly similar style tracks. I like Blondie’s attempt at rock n roll with their upbeat, fast tempo technique.
Solid album! Enjoyed! 3/5
Liked: one way or another, fade away and radiate, 11:59, sunday girl, heart of glass, im gonna love you too, just go away pretty baby is a really creepy song (look up the backstory and you'll see why) overall an album with an ok first half and a phenomenal second half
I love "One Way or Another" and "Heart of Glass," so I was hoping to love the rest of the album as well. Sadly, although I enjoyed it well enough, it didn't exactly wow me. The only other tracks that really grabbed my attention were "Sunday Girl" and "I'm Gonna Love You Too." Still, there are plenty of worse albums out there. 3.5 stars.
Highlights: "Hanging on the Telephone," "One Way or Another," "Fade Away and Radiate," "Heart of Glass" So many early New Wave hits came out this year, it feels like the origins of the genre must be somewhere else. But hits from 1977 like Marquee Moon and My Aim Is True don't have the same synthesized pop finish. Even Devo's debut this year isn't the sound they became a stereotype for. Blondie sounds ahead of the curve this way, with strong standouts on par with The Cars and Kraftwerk from a few months ago. On the other hand, they don't jump in with both feet. There's a lot of '50s pop and surf homage that hardly even gives the sound a punk update -- a little too faithful to its influences, more kitsch than camp. Still forward-thinking and high quality from front to back still, if a little bit front-loaded.
While it kind of suffers from falling too much into the generic 70s rock sound, I think there are a lot of redeeming qualities on this record that I had never heard. Fade Away And Radiate rips! The ending psychedelic/reggae beat just ties it all together so well. Then of course, you have the immortal Heart of Glass. No one can make the argument that that's a bad song.
Feel like I’m being generous with 3, some obvious bangers but some hideous trash too
Although this isn't something I'd listen to willingly, I can respect what they did here. The variety of musical ideas on display is impressive too. This is what Abba would have sounded like had they been capable of making good music. 🐱🐱🐱
3.5 stars. Fun and catchy New Wave that borders on too poppy but is still overall enjoyable. The leadoff track "Hanging On The Telephone" that really does a good job of setting the tone for the album. Other standouts are "Heart of Glass" and the earworm "One Way Or Another/"
A couple of hits and other stuff just OK.
2 fantastic singles. Nothing else is bad... just doesn't stand out
I feel as though I should like this more than I do.
Didn’t really get into any of the songs other than the hits I already know.
The bangers are all timers. Heart of Glass, Sunday Girl, One Way Or Another, Picture This, Hanging On The Telephone are brilliant songs Such a shame that what is in between them is so forgettable
Eh a little tame
Pretty good
I was surprised to enjoy this as much as I did.
Got some great songs, but also a load that sound like filler from 50s themed musical. I'm sure it would have made sense in CBGBs, but feels sterile on record.
Really good sounds but lyrics are so weak. I like the drummer and Harry has an interesting voice, so I'll move it from a 2 to a 3
Has some bangers but mostly middling
Sooo woman
B- Hanging on the Telephone - 2 One Way Or Another - 4 Picture This - 3 Fade Away and Radiate - 3 Pretty Baby - 3 I Know but I Don’t Know - 2 11:59 - 5 Will Anything Happen - 3 Sunday Girl - 3 Heart of Glass - 4 I’m Gonna Love You Too - 2 Just Go Away - 2 It took a lot of listens before I rated, and I’m honestly shocked this got a 3. This had 2 written all over it, but it really surprised me. 11:59 was fantastic and I’m excited to come back to it. Other than the hits, it was a solid album and a refreshing listen compared to the sh** I’ve endured recently.
good album for the time and some memorable hits
I've heard Blondie's hits before, but have never listened to an album cover to cover, so this should be an interesting day. Blondie are a pop rock band from USA. They are a female led group, and they influenced so many female led groups that came later such as: Madonna, Paramore, and Garbage. This album is their third studio album, and is apparently the album in which they changed from a new wave band to a more pop oriented band. This album still has a few rock forward songs (One Way or Another, and Hanging on the Telephone), but the bulk of the album is closer to the pop side of the spectrum. Debbie Harry had a very interesting vocal style that is instantly recognizable. She has done some living too! Apparently she was a go-go dancer, and a playboy bunny for a short period of time, she was an actress (leading role in the movie Videodrome as well as other movies), she almost got kidnapped by serial killer Ted Bundy, and she was a self proclaimed New York Dolls groupie. For this album, the band worked with record producer, Mike Chapman. Chapman saw the band as sloppy, and spent a lot of time trying to hone the skills of each individual. This didn't sit well with some of them, causing bassist Nigel Harrison to throw a synthesizer at Chapman. Overall, a fairly average album today. Nothing really caught me by surprise or jumped out at me. Just a normal run of the mill female led pop band. I probably won't listen again, but can certainly see how big of an influence they were on pop music today. Favourite songs: One Way or Another, Heart of Glass, I'm Gonna Love You Too, Bang a Gong (Get It On) - Live, 11:59, I Know But I Don't Know, Pretty Baby, Hanging on the Telephone Least favourite songs: Fade Away and Radiate 3/5
Blondie- has some catchy hooks. Robert Fripp on radiate and fade away. I liked the buddy holly cover. Heart of glass is so great. I like her vocals. 3.5 3
Some fun and catchy songs. Heart of glass is great and pretty baby was cool. 3.5
3.25
A bit pop-y for me at times, but, hey, it was the 80's. So I'll forgive them because this album was fun!
there are enjoyable parts all through the album and they ruin it by being poppy right after or during. almost good like a lot of old bands I don't have nostalgia for. one way or another, heart of glass
every song sounds like a blondie song. its catchy but i wouldnt listen to it outside of my local record store playing it on the speakers.
2 huge hits and a bunch of strong pop-rock songs. Certainly not the worst thing to come out of the 70s and I can assume the influence this had on other artists was huge. It’s not something that I would casually listen to, but I won’t turn it off on the radio. That feels like a 3 to me.
Pop-rock con buena voz femenina muy de estilo ochentero. Varias canciones aún perduran en el tiempo. Con ritmo. Pasable
They're fantastic
As cool as I think Blondie are, I don't know if they've ever stuck the landing on a whole album. Their first album comes close, but there's a reason why most people encounter this band via their greatest hits. Parallel Lines is a good example of this. I've always thought this album was basically 4-5 excellent songs, plus a bunch of fairly unmemorable ones. When the band gets it right, they are riveting, with that wonderful late 70s new wave/power pop energy that just doesn't exist in music anymore. But for what is actually a pretty brief album, there are way too many skippable tracks. That said, "Heart of Glass" is simply one of the prettiest songs ever made. You can't listen to that song and not want to put your platforms on and dance. Bonus points for bringing in Fripp, but still a high 3. Fave Songs: Heart of Glass, Hanging on the Telephone, Sunday Girl, One Way or Another, Just Go Away, Pretty Baby, Fade Away and Radiate
I don't like the 80s.
Blondie's "Parallel Lines" is a classic rock/pop album that shares similarities with other music of the era. While influential, some tracks lack energy, and the sound hasn't aged well.
Bloodies vocals carry this one in front of a fairly bland band. It’s inoffensive Pop Rock and it’s good but aside from the two obvious standouts and maybe I know but I Don’t know, there’s nothing that really grabbed me here. Blonde and the Blandies get 3 stars
Nice, better than I was expecting Torn between 3 and 4
Solid album by Blondie with some great tracks.
Nice
Fun time capsule from the crossroads of pop, punk, and new wave.
Other than the songs we all k ow it was pretty standard pop rock
Has some songs and some attitude, but I was surprised how much acclaim this album garnered, it just didn’t do it for me. Hanging on the Telephone holds up with some of the better punk songs of the era and Heart of Glass was a disco jam, but punk and disco are like oil and water to me. Couple other solid songs, but nothing that memorable. Overall a solid meh.
The hits are bit, but there's a couple of tracks that are just merely there. The Buddy Holly cover, I'm Gonna Love You Too, is really fun.
3/5. A great pop album with the singer really guiding the album. Some classics for sure on here but definitely some misses. Will pick and choose but not listen all the way through again.
Strong 3 light 4
What a star Debbie Harry was-- is maybe-- I think she's touring right now. All the songs that were great still are and the ones that weren't a part of her greatest hits album were better than I expected. It's fun to imagine what the scene must've been like with Harry in the Green Room for a show of this album. Bet it was wild!
"Heart of Glass" and "One Way or Another" was pretty much all I knew of Blondie, along with a vague sense of Debbie Harry as a frontwoman. Unfortunately, though "Heart of Glass" is iconic, I kind of hate it. "One Way or Another," and the rest of the first half of "Parallel Lines," are much better. But it seems like most of the time there is just a little something missing. Sometimes the guitars are great, sometimes they are forgettable. Sometimes Harry's voice finds the edge and the attitude, but too often it's missing. Things start to go downhill a bit starting with "Pretty Baby," and by the time the aforementioned "Heart of Glass" arrived I had nearly given up. The cover of Buddy Holly's "I'm Gonna Love You Too" almost brought things back, but overall I'm left curious about whether Blondie's earlier albums delivered more bite.
Hard to argue against this album as a classic, as you can hear so many things that inspired bands that came after, but not something I would personally ever have in heavy rotation. Stand out for me were the drums, which were killer on nearly every track. I was surprised Heart of Glass was buried so deep in the track list, but I guess you never know what’s going to be an enduring pop culture hit.
Fun. Prob won’t ever listen to it in full again
Fine
3.5 love the bangers a lot of flops though
Only loved the two favourites, otherwise it was an ok album nothing to knock your socks off or bring you back for second breakfast. Favourite tracks - One way or another, Heart of glass.
Ooh I am glad this album was suggested to me. Did not listen to the whole album in one go, but I repeated parts of the album a couple of times (first halves only, last halves only). All in all, I enjoyed the album and am looking forward to explore the band in the future. 3.8/5
Decent album
Good album. I love Blondie. Heart of glass is the highlight here. But the album as a whole doesn't grab me.
The hits on this album really hold up the rest of it. It started to feel a lot longer than 39 minutes by the end. It did seem appropriate that the last track on the album is titled "Just Go Away" though.
Me parece un disco algo largo y no tan interesante a nivel general. Con respecto a su sonido es muy claro y muy bueno especialmente para la época.
Not a big fan of new wave. Some songs here are classic but overall didn’t jive
Burde sikkert lika Blondie bedre men
Hanging on the telephone 6/10 could be better a meh opener One way or the another 10/10 a fucking classic cant be topped picture this fade away and radiate slower song even tho it kinda picks up near the bridge then it drops again 6.5/10 pretty baby i love this one pace is quicker song is more draws you in kinda badassary felt like in a movie where you are the lead singer 7.5/10
The second best Blondie album, behind Best Of. Which sounds like a Partridge thing to say, but this doesn't quite reach the heights of hit after hit. The singles here are outstanding. The rest of the album keeps the very tight rhythm section running. Plus that silk voice. Debbie Harris actually sounds like she looks in all those early 80's sugar pop lush videos.
Pretty good! 3.5, with an extra .5 for I'm Gonna Love You Too -- what a great track!
3.5 stars mostly for “Heart of Glass”. The rest of the album is pretty good? Nothing crazy though. I wish it was more punk.
Banger
не, не захватывают ни мелодии, ни вокал. зато узнала что она приёмная
Great start to this music/listening project. I really only know Heart of Glass and One Way or Another. Glad to have heard the rest of the album that I, otherwise, wouldn’t have done. Some caught my attention right away, others were easily forgotten after hearing it. Those that stood out and are new favorites are: Hanging on the Telephone and Fade Away and Radiate. And Heart of Glass, of course, is a classic and remains my favorite of all.
Some highlights, some skippable sections, overall a good average
Ho hum
Tämä bändi osasi selvästi tehdä kappaleita, mutta sillä ei luultavasti ollut aikaa viilata kaikkia niistä loppuun saakka: kun Parallel Lines tuli markkinoille 78, Plastic Letters oli julkaistu samana vuonna, ja Eat to the Beat julkaistaan jo 79. Tästä syystä levyn huiput erottuvat radikaalisti sen heikommasta materiaalista, mikä latistaa kuuntelukokemusta kokonaisuutena. Hanging on the Telephone on todellinen saavutus, ja albumi alkaa muutenkin vahvasti. Taso kuitenkin heikkenee jatkuvasti, ja B-puoli on täysin suhteettomasti Heart of Glass -biisin varassa.
The peaks of this album were very fun. There is quite a bit of filler in this, which knocks the rating down a bit. Favorite track: One Way or Another
It’s ok. There are some timeless classics here that everyone knows, but it’s somewhat of a boring album that lacks any wow.
This one I have heard a few times. More depth than just the singles.
Blondie is good rock, didn't do it all the way for me
Interesting mix of music, and her voice is much better than I though coming from mainly Heart of Glass.
It's alright, is it new wave? I don't know, doesn't matter. One way or Another and Heart of Glass are great tracks
Blondie was a punk! Aside from the overplayed hit singles this is a pretty fun album.
This was alright, recognized a few songs but never realized they were by Blondie.
Good, but never understood the hype.
Good start then a bit too much of the same throughout. Couple of classic songs.
i ❤️ debbie she is my fave the other guys are cool too
I felt pretty lukewarm on most of the songs, with some standouts and some not so great ones as well. Overall it’s a fine listen but nothing I’m itching to come back to. 5/10
I liked the hits - even the disco song! The rest was mediocre though.
The first two songs are serious bangers - Hanging on the Telephone and One Way or Another. Debbie Harry has a killer voice here, full of spunk, verve and attitude. I think Telephone is their all-time best song actually. The rest of the album, including Heart of Glass is fine, but not as outstanding as the first two killers. Along with the Cars and Devo, Blondie was part of the big trifecta of American new wave bands in the 70's.
Ah, this is why I know of them. Pretty decent stuff even outside the hits honestly.
Had listened to before! (Just not a Blondie fan im sorry!!!)
Pretty good new wave album. Some amazing hits and some meh deep cuts. Overall it's fine but it's not something I'm gonna add to my constant rotation, but I'll be glad to return to it from time to time.
Iconic! But not my taste.
Starts out good, drags a bit at the end. The Fripp solo is pretty great.
As albums go, this one is one of those typical “some songs are awesome, some are fillers”. However. This is one of those albums that make me mourn what had happened to pop music over the years. Why did it deteriorate from this incredibly musical, powerful, wonderful voice and personality powered incarnation, into the dreary repetitive boredom of contemporary pop?
Overall solid, the B side is way better than the A side
Heart of glass rules. Cool guitars.
Best Song: Hanging on the Telephone. Just enough of that gruff quality to the vocals, and everything is quick and uptempo enough to stay interesting. Worst Song: One Way Or Another. Maybe it's just overplayed, but I find the chorus (especially the getcha-getcha-getcha) very grating. Overall: The vocals are the best part here, and they're best when pushed into a throaty, rock direction. Unfortunately, those rock moments are not as frequent as the plain, fairly basic era pop. Also, the album absolutely didn't need to be 16 tracks.
Iconic and fun music, but not my go-to.
Solid album
Pretty good! Never listened to a full blondie album before. Hasn’t aged amazingly but enjoyable definitely

Fun party pop punk pop lite. This album has a dark edge with contrasts of hope and light. Guitar is much heavier and distorted than I would have expected. Many surprises on this album. Hints of 50s pop and show tunes can be heard in some tracks.
Some hits we've all heard, and the rest of the album is ok.
The hits are outstanding but the rest doesn’t really do much for me
Honestly some bangers. Decent work, caffeine bad?? Pillows.
Have to admit that New Wave is a bit of blind spot for me. As a 90's alt rock fan, it always felt a bit too mainstream (and 80's) despite a lot of these bands coming up in CBGB with the early punk rock bands in the 70s. Been listening to the "Ongoing History of New Music" podcast's history of alt-rock recently though and I feel like they did a good job of describing them (and New Wave). They said something like "They don't sound like punk rock, but when you hear them you can tell that punk rock had happened." This record definitely feels like that. It's very commercial sounding and there are some big hits on here that probably feel more tame than they did when this came out because they've been played so many times. But there is an edge to the playing that probably wouldn't have been there without punk having happened. It's a fun record and I can see why people like it but probably not something I'll revisit very much. Solid 3 stars for me.
Fun enough, but didn't really grip me much. Listened while working.
Decent, but felt like generic 70's pop/rock
Prima
Not bad.
One waaaayyyyy or anotherrrrr
Recognized some of the really big songs immediately but the rest was meh
pleasant tunes, easy to the ears. .3 stars.
didnt realize this is the band that makes that song 'one way or another'. 4 songs in and likin it so far. fun to listen to but nothing crazy exciting. heart of glass too ive heard before its good. will def end up coming back to some songs probably not the whole album
3.5
One Way or Another and Heart of Glass are such great songs and showcases of this genre and Debbie Harry's voice, but the rest of the album kind of underwhelmed me.
Some very strong songs here and excellent moments – starting with the very promising opener. But despite a decently high level of quality throughout, there’s a vintage quality to this, a feel that makes it seem more of its time than truly timeless. Debbie Harry has a very distinctive voice, without necessarily being a great singer (one finds her a bit all over the place, excessively talky one moment and then given to yelping the next). “Fade Away & Radiate” and “Pretty Baby” are both interesting without quite being fully affecting. “Picture This” has a great (if too short guitar solo) and “Sunday Girl” and “11:59” are engaging. “Heart of Glass” is pure pop-disco fun. Still this is mainly enjoyable rather than inspirational. One wonders if maybe they were better live and figures that this might be just about the replacement level for deathbed records.
I am unfamiliar with Blondie besides they biggest hit "One Way Or Another", which is such a classic song. "Heart of Glass" is another song that I recognize and that I appreciate. Overall the album is alright, I'm happy to have listened to it, but I don't think I will add it to my regular listening rotation.
Hmm I wasn’t really a fan of this, but it was okay.
Not bad at all but I feel like this album came out during a time where it was a bigger deal and the sound was newer and fresh. As of now it sounds like most pop rock artists so I don’t really get it.
Good but I've heard some of these songs quite a bit already on the radio which kind of diminishes enjoyment for me. Great songwriting/arranging.
One Way or Another, Heart of Glass, Hangin on the Telephone... great
it was
it's fun! it's cheesy! it wants you to sing along! it's not going into my collection, but you can have a good time working with this in the background, especially around folks who love the album
nice
It was alright, has some good songs but some weak ones too.
Bouncy little album. Had echos of 60s and 50s music. The hits were special
Fav Song: Pretty Baby
Zachly wut I spected
Thought this album started strong, but about 3 or 4 songs in it really fell off for me. Still, not bad; it's a serviceable rock album.
A bit much by the end. Heart of Glass is still a banger though
So many great songs on one album!
her voice is great, such a great fit with the music
A couple of great classics. Otherwise, it was kind of white noise
I enjoy the attitude and quirkiness that Blondie carries throughout this album. The guitar playing is super tight, and the vocals compliment that sound well. Fun, poppy, dancey tracks front to back on this one. There are a plethora of genres that serve as inspiration for this album by the sounds of it. Not a standout selection for me, but it is a very solid collection of songs. Fave tracks: Fade Away and Radiate, 11:59, Heart of Glass
ekki besta frá þeim
Getting away from the recognizable hits like Hanging on the Telephone, One Way Or Another and Heart of Glass, Parallel Lines by Blondie spans the multiple genres that came crashing together during this era. When you blend Post-punk, new wave and disco to make it work, it works. Sadly, filling an album with songs that don't make this sound work gets a little repetitive. This is a very good album and does what every Blondie album needs to do, blend a few of the recognizable hits with the sound currently working its way through the NY clubs. 3.5/5
I'm honestly a little let down. Debbie Harry is a great singer, and there's a couple really good songs (I'd probably say that the first and last songs were my favorites), but it's mostly pretty bland. Not bad, just forgettable.
one way or another
Pop with a little rocky edge, not bad but just a bit too generic. Besides the big hit, no song really stands out nor is of hit material
Great fun album
Je l’ai déjà eu, j’ai seulement gardé le best of
'One Way or Another' and 'Heart of Glass' doing some supremely heavy lifting here. Most of the rest isn't something I'd choose to listen to again but those two tracks alone raise it from a 2 to a 3.
några klassiker!
Probably a 3.5. There were a lot of tracks I liked but probably an equal amount that I was pretty meh on. The time changes on Heart of Glass are always welcome though.
Noisy, but some classics. Improves as you go
I love "One Way or Another" but it is (objectively) not a great song. I could say that about most of the songs on this album. They're fun. They kinda sound like they were written by a band of middle-schoolers - both the music and the lyrics. Blondie seems to me like the No Doubt of the 70s-80s. A female lead singer who is versatile enough (Debbie Harry strikes me as a poor-man's Stevie Nicks - with a little bit of Joan Jett mixed in there), but is definitely the selling point of a mediocre backing band. Everything in me says this is a 2, but I'm going to give it a bump because I can definitely hear how Blondie's sound (especially on this album) likely influenced a lot of 80s pop - as well as several female-fronted bands that would follow. So, Kudos.
Yep, Blondie.
Not sure the context of Blondie’s Parallel Lines in the pantheon of rock and roll but as a punk new wave band I can see why she’s still relevant today.
I want to like this more than I do. It's like a mish-mash of 70s and 80s and it doesn't work quite as well as you remember.
I actually knew a couple songs from it, which is a testament for something so old! Album was diverse and had a decent sound to it, not my cup of tea though
Amazing mood booster, super fun
6/10
This one ripped! Blondie is fucking iconic, punk attitude with a glam veneer.
Some of it was great, particularly the classic singles, but other stuff just didn’t do much for me. A classic 3 star if I ever heard one.
7/10
Somehow much more post punk than I expected. Nice moody songs as well as the big ones like heart of glass. I liked opening of "fade away and radiate" and there were songs like "I know but I don't know" and "will anything happen" where I thought I'd really grown to like the album as a whole. But songs like "I'm gonna love you too" and "picture this" kinda tainted it for me. There's something about the slickness and upbeatness that maybe inherently puts me off. I think a lot of the lyrics felt a bit surface level as well and slightly derivative compared to songs like "one way or another". Maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood. I still like the big songs on this album and found some new ones to enjoy, but very much don't feel the need to listen to it all the way through.
Heart of glass is amazing
Some classics, overall good listen
Pretty good. Some of these are pretty recognizable, but I wouldn't think of these if someone asked me for a good song
Ooh nice. Heart of Glass and One Way or Another are quite catchy songs. The rest was fine, too
Not generally something that I would listen to but I’ll admit that it was a lot more fun than I was expecting
Heart of Glass is an amazing tune but was hoping for more from the rest of the record
Solid album, very popular sound from that era.
Fun to listen to, nothing crazy. Lots of good old songs. 3 stars
Asså helt ok, men vet i fan. Kände ju igen en redig banger
Thought I'd enjoy more, good but didn't do much for me all in all
