Sunday Girl Heart of Glass

This one surprised me. Her voice is amazing.

Some classic songs

This album gets carried by Heart of Glass (which might actually be the greatest song of all time). Listening to this record can be summed up as waiting for Heart of Glass, listening to Heart of Glass and wishing Heart of Glass was playing again. Everything else is filler. This album could be a single. Favorite tracks include Heart of Glass.

Amazing voice, great production, but I am not too big a fan of the slightly more Motowny tracks? The choirs don't do much for me either. That being said, the overall songwriting I like. The hits are hits for a good reason, and most other tracks are pretty good as well. Second half is stronger than the first, nice.

Good first two songs, rest of the album was a bit meh.

not that interesting

Que delicia!

Very fun rock! Funny how on one album some songs sound so fresh and others so dated

Ok pop album. Not a good punk album. I don't like pop much.

Not bad! Obviously one way or another is the standout, but some solid tracks and a few gems here and there.

80s power pop for the masses. Fluffy, not stuffy. Not unpleasant but lacking any kind of substance….

7/10 Pretty good, some songs better than others. I like the pacing of this album

Some cool stuff outside the hits but kind of forgettable

I really like Blondie, their hits are absolutely fantastic. This album is super energetic pop rock. While it's not too pop, it does lean heavily into making catchy songs while using some fast paced rock instrumentation. I really liked the guitar lines, they work very well and set the mood for the songs. The standout of the band is obviously Harry's singing, she has a great, powerful voice which allows her to both work in the pop choruses and raise the energy when the record is more power-pop. On the other hand, the male backing vocals could really use some work, I didn't like the tone or the delivery at all. My favourite songs were the obvious classics "One Way or Another" and "Heart of Glass", which are truly great and clearly stand out. Aside from that, my favourite was "Will Anything Happen". Besides these though, I found there was a gap in quality between the best and the rest, some songs being pretty forgettable. This album has very high highs, but its lows feel pretty standard and unremarkable. While they're not bad, it's certainly not a consistent record, particularly around the middle of the record. It hurts me to say it, because I really like Blondie, but I don't feel this album is as good as its best songs.

Heart of Glass and One Way or Another were songs I had only ever heard in covers, listening to the originals did not disappoint! While I haven't heard much of Blondie, it is easy for me to understand why they were so popular in their era. The sound was energetic and paired perfectly with the crazy aesthetics of the 80s. There were a lot of songs on here that I liked as a whole, but loved specific pieces of them. What comes to mind is the guitar outro in Fade Away and Radiate, or the guitar solo in the middle of Picture This, or the fun organ in 11:59. I liked around half the songs, I would listen again!

Hang Up And Run To Me 1001 Albums Generator 42 (05/30/2025) Parallel Lines is the third album by American new wave sweethearts Blondie. Led by the charismatic Debby Harry, Parallel Lines was the band's international breakthrough, featuring two of their biggest hits of their career in One Way Or Another (famously covered by One Direction, according to my wife) and Heart Of Glass (famously covered by Miley Cyrus, according to my wife). Blondie were regulars at East Village's CBGB club, which was, in the 1970's, a sort of home base of some of America's most forward thinking punk acts. Artists from Patti Smith to Television to even Talking Heads frequented the club, but Blondie brought a sort of poppy energy to punk that many other bands in the scene lacked. Think less artsy fartsy, more dancey wancey, you heard? One Way Or Another is the first Blondie song I ever heard, as it was featured on Rock Band 2 (which is a totally cool and valid reason to know this song, unlike knowing the 1D cover, okay? Boy things are fucking sick and girl things are fucking lame-o). I always thought this song was so cool. The chorus is super catchy and that little octave riff the guitars go into between verses is really interesting. I love the little elements of surf punk in this song's rhythm too. Heart Of Glass is the other big hit here and was actually Blondie's international breakthrough single. This song is basically a disco song, which makes its huge success almost more impressive since it was competing with every disco song ever in 1978. I also really appreciate the bit that is in 7/4; very stylish. Other highlights include the infectious Hanging On The Telephone and the artsy, spacey Fade Away And Radiate, which features guitar from King Crimson's Robert Fripp. It's an absolutely insane crossover, but it works so well. When this album hits, it hits like crack, but unfortunately there are lots of songs here that aren't very good. Not bad, per say, but just not very interesting. The middle section from Pretty Baby to Will Anything Happen is especially guilty of this, and I find myself struggling to find anything particular to say about any of these songs. Parallel Lines is an album of mountains and valleys. The hits are amazing and there are some deeper cuts that deserve just as much praise, but about half of the album is not very memorable. Overall, 3.5/5, round down to 3. Favs: Hanging On The Telephone One Way Or Another Fade Away And Radiate Least Fav: I Know But I Don't Know

★★★½

very cool. surprisingly timeless. so many songs on this are very good. 3.5

heart of glass is probably one of my favourites of this era. Overall very good album probably somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars

Standout songs: One Way Or Another Pretty Baby 11:59 Heart Of Glass A decent album with good instrumentals. I do like Blondie’s voice but its out of rhythm with the music for parts of the album and it gets a little hard to listen to. Overall not bad though.

Great to hear an album from te '80's that's actually live recorded and withou over-produced drums! 3.5/5

Great Blondie album. Would definitely listen to it again

Pretty fun album all around. Blondie managed, somehow, to flirt with pop and progressivism on equal measure without coming off as unauthentic. It's enjoyable.

On the plus side, its the first album I've gotten all week that hasn't had me apologizing to my ears for putting them through an awful album. On the plus side, I still owe my ears some much better stuff. 3.00000001

This was good, but only 3/5 good. No more, no less.

Great hits. Good vibes. Nice Listen.

I figured I would enjoy this given the songs I had heard from Blondie but it all felt like the same thing. This may just be my general opinion on post-punk though.

I didn’t really like it, it wasn’t quite pop, but it was a little bit better than the pop. I’ve been listening to in this album sequence. I think I might come back to it and come to like it, but along the sound the same. It was decent

clássico. básico MUITO bem feito de sua época. hanging on the telephone, toma meu coração. one way or another, nem vamos falar sobre pois amo. agora.. in between what i find is pleasing?? and im feeling fine??? love is confusing theres no peace OF MIND?? 🤌🏼 3/5

Didn’t age great. Sounds dated and cheesy.

Not punk. New wave, totally...

This one started off strong with Hanging on the Telephone, but devolved quickly into more bland, boring songs. It stayed in that zone for most of the rest of the album. While it never really got "bad" necessarily, very little of it was better than fine. It offers what you would expect from a pop record. The instrumentation is pleasant, but mostly unimpressive when you listen a little bit closer. It does what the song needs, so maybe it's more of a writing problem than a technical one. The vocals were also nice to listen to without really having a lot of substance to their content. All the songs seemed to have similar vibes and simplicity. I found it a bit interesting that some of the songs felt more like old pop than I would expect in 1978. There was an almost 50s-esque sound, just with updated production, on a couple tracks. The album worked as a whole given the details mentioned above, but there are definitely songs I'd rather hear again than the others. Heart of Glass is one of those, though was a song I was already familiar with and liked (brought down by this version having an extended "disco" edition that was unnecessarily long). Was the album fun? Yeah, mostly. Do I see why people like it? Absolutely. Is it anything special? I don't think it is. Overall: 2.75/5

I really want to give this one 3.5 stars. It's better than 3-stars, certainly.

Teetering on a 4 star but couldn't quit get there. The singles are fantastic but the rest is mediocre to good.

This was surprisingly pretty damn good

Jossain määrin tuttu albumi. Muistan että tästä jäi jo vuosia sitten hyvä fiilis. Nyt oli pieni pettymys. Pari tosi hyvää biisiä, mutta aika paljon hailakkaakin kamaa. Antaisin 2,5 tähteä.

It was a treat listening to Zak’s special lady. This album isn’t all winners. I’m pretty forgettable songs on here, but I would say more than half of the album is salad the songs that are popular. Still hold up the nerves cover at the beginning gets get pumped right out of the gate although the original is so much better and it kind of bums me out that people think it’s a Blondie original do yourself a favor and check out the rest of the nerve songs. They’re great. My favorite part about listening to this album is a realization that one of my favorite female artist has been taking their vocal style from DebbieHarry play book, Kim Deal. Are certain parts of the album. I could’ve sworn I was listening to Kim deal it’s crazy. Best example of this is Sunday girl on this album. There is a song on Kim Del’s new album that basically rips off this song and I shall give you a link below to be your own judge overall solid album would listen to it again only reason I’m giving it a three is because there are some pretty forgettable songs on here as well. One last thing, “I’m gonna love you too” is pretty close to “I wanna be sedated “…. Checked Debbie’s dating history… I see a Mr. Joey Ramone listed coincidence I think not

debbie harry is hot. she reminds me of my wife, who i am VERY attracted to. too bad my wife can't sing. shes awful! HANGING ON THE TELEPHONE and ONE WAY OR ANOTHER are kick ass. I've heard the former a bajillion times, but I prefer the prior. PICTURE THIS and FADEAWAY are a snooze. I KNOW BUT I DON'T KNOW has a great bass line and groove thats sounds a little bit like a punk song. Solo is great too 11:59 has a pace im enjoying, another groovy riff..and a surprise organ! Vocals seem too concerned with sounding pretty, i want that snarl from my wife i mean debbie. WILL ANYTHING HAPPEN sounds super punk. This record is getting better as it goes on for me. HEART OF GLASS is a classic IM GONNA LOVE YOU TOO has a little growl. JUST GO AWAY like the backing vocals. overall enjoyable, but not something i'd often come back to. its just a little too tidy for me. 3.

Generally it’s pretty good nothing to ride home about tbh Though I did add that one song “Ima find ya, Ima getcha getcha getcha getcha” to my playlist

this is pretty objectively good

Blondie's always been my least favorite band that came out of the CBGB scene in the 70s. I do think there's some good songs here -- I always liked "One Way Or Another" and their cover of "Hanging on the Telephone", and even though I've heard it a million times, "Heart of Glass" is a good tune. I think the rest of the album is kind of a mixed bag for me. 3.5 stars.

Very strong 3.5. You have a spate of bona fide pearly classic singles amongst of which the shimmery sleek discoey Heart Of Glass is my favourite. And Debbie Harry is on pretty delicious top form throughout. One of the coolest front ladies. But then besides that you have a strong delineation of quite firmly so-so new wavey filler. The white lines on the album cover were all actually filled in with Poly Filla. Definitely a top 1001 album cover and probably a top 1001 as well.

3 songs: 5 stars the rest: 1-2 stars Album: 3 stars

The album is really good from the musical standpoint. Every member of Blondie makes the album sound great and the production is top notch. However I found that the album was too long for the type of music it's about (Spotify told me it was 16 tracks) and halfway through it, I lost interest in it.

3 It’s ok. A few of the songs I remember from when I was I kid but it’s not really me. 2 or 3 out of 5

pretty good

Good album, lots of Blondie classics

I knew a couple of Blondie songs going into this listen, and I was left a little underwhelmed by the album. One Way or Another and Heart of Glass were, of course, fantastic. I also loved Picture This. However, the other songs were just alright. I felt the sound of some of them began to feel slightly repetitive as the album progressed.

Two classics on here but overall it was just an alright album.

I liked some tracks a lot, but i wish it was more disco-y, apple music lied! I wonder if the recording on it is affecting my perception… feels kinda flat just like the talking heads

Mucho mistrust… good album

Really 3.5*, couple bangers rest solid, the sound you'd expect

I liked this a lot. I've never listened to a Blondie album and was pretty impressed with this. Sunday Girl is one of the best melodies I've heard in a long time. Extremely memorable. Of course Heart of Glass is a monster of a song,.but then again I have a soft spot for disco. Debbie Harry is a great singer. I plan on listening through this album more.

Quite enjoyed the album. Many of the Blondie biggest hits are on this album but there were one or two surprises I didn't know yet. Hanging on the telephone is a nice track to open the album.

Ganz oki, aber nicht ganz meins

Wijze dingen gehoord

"I know but I don't know" is more my style but that's probably the Stooges aspect. Some songs are too "beachy" for me but I can respect the path Blondie created

Such a cool album! And Debbie Harry is such an amazing rock star.

Your name is Topanga123.

kinda fun

Ok pop album. Not a good punk album. I don't like pop much.

smellinn popplög. ég gef þessu 3.

I have a much respect for Debra Harry and Blondie. Liked some of the deeper cuts as well. Like “I know but I don’t know”

Oh god it has 16 songs.... I am tryiinnggg to catch up ffs.... Hanging on The Telephone is catchy and fun. OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH One way, or another, im gonna find ya. im gonna getch getchahc asdcahsbcujaevbdujcaehbdc.... Hell yeah hahahahahahahaha. nice knowing the singer and the album of this song. I knew this song when i was a kid. Im actually singing this part with the song hahahah I even know Once I Had A Love whihc is a nice song too. This album is a vibe and good to know what it is.

Blondie is another group I wish I liked more. I have heard all the hits from this album, but have never listened to the whole thing. It is a nice listen, but I'm not sure I would listen to it again.

Fun album with good range of sound. It comes out strong with One Way or Another, which stands out over the rest, but all the tracks are pretty strong. The lead singer especially puts a lot of emotion into her singing. I also love the reggae influence that comes in.

A lovely 70s pop rock record

Good pop album, a couple of standout songs

As a whole album, this was hardly what I would normally listen to. The two hits ("One Way or Another" and "Heart of Glass") are the main things that stuck with me after two or three listens. Yet overall, I was quite impressed with Debbie Harry's vocal performance and the fact that every song had a catchy riff and chorus to it. I got to revisit this later, I suppose.

Definitivt noen kule tracks!

ну хз не мое 3

yeah it was alright

I love this genre of music and I also love a female led band but I've never really found myself coming back to this one. Heart of Glass is an amazing song though 6/10 Favourite: Heart of Glass Least Favourite: 11:59

Blondie is great, influencial sounding, great guitarist solos & riffs

I said it once and I'll say it again Blondie walked so that No Doubt could run. there are nice songs on here, but it's pretty boring as a whole. I really liked "Sunday girl". and of course, "heart of glass" is an absolute banger. too bad "Atomic" wasn't on it otherwise it would have been 4⭐️

I definitely like elements of this kind of post-punk new wave scene but the sound is, to my taste, far too clean.

A gas.

Cool is hardly the word for this snappy collection of sexy hits, which goes genre-hopping with unusual confidence Favourite tracks: Hanging On The Telephone, One Way Or Another, Fade Away And Radiate, 11:59, Heart of Glass

Fun music. Nothing special, but a good time all around. The instrumentation keeps it fun and interesting. Ahead of its time for 78. Standouts: 11:59, Heart of Glass, Just Go Away

Blondie is essential late 70's/early 80's music that has staying power, hits and instantly known tracks. This album is part of the new wave and includes rock/alt/pop radio staples "Heart Of Glass", "One Way Or Another", and "Hanging On The Telephone" and great glue songs like "Picture This", "I Know But I Don't Know", "Will Anything Happen" and "Sunday Girl". I know Blondie and this album helped usher women and girl groups into the new wave of the 80's so it's got the influence factor any album in the T1001 should have. The hits are there - "Heart Of Glass" is a megahit that everyone knows. The longevity is there. Not sure it would make my Top 1001 but I see the merits of including it in this list.

Fun poppy rock album. Was familiar with a few songs already, the ones that were new to me didn't blow me away, but overall enjoyed the listen and the energy

Solid, all around. I definitely didn't know a lot of these, but they're good. Heart of Glass will always be so good.

Fun album. I always thought of Blondie as a "her" not as a band. I knew the two popular tracks: "One Way Or Another" and "Heart of Glass". And actually I don't think I realized it's the same artist. Interesting how the album spans disco / new age / almost aspects of punk. It's a solid album but not quite my thing enough to enter 4 territory.

Albums used to really be ALBUMS. This is all killer no filler.

Had fun stuff going for it. Fun to listen to a Blondie album when ove only heard like one of their songs.

another classic instance of 'hey, this is pretty good!' followed by that one popular song that shows you why this album is in the list.

A couple of classics on this one, including a few I recognized but didn’t realize were by Blondie. I was never a major fan of this band but it was nice to hear a full album.

Carried by the better songs but not great, just good

Good Solid album.

My first Blondie album. I enjoyed it- lots of hits. Some of the deep cuts I didnt care for as much. But still, good albu

Some great songs (Heart of Glass really is a class of its own), but overall I kinda dislike the new wave style. I hate to admit it. It just sounds too.. noisy? I'm not sure if this is the producing style or whatever but I get tired really fast with any new wave albums. So overall there's some great songwriting here and amazing hits, but as a whole, I got tired really quickly and don't want to go back to this too soon.

Burde sikkert likt Blondie bedre men

Heilt ok. Tidvise klassikere

I like the energy in the earlier songs, and the harsher rough vocals. The popular ones are good hits, the rest didn't do much for me. I feel bad saying bad about Blondie though, she's lovely.

Classic Blondie. I like the vibe.

Aww Debbie Harry! Classic with hits and a few hidden gems.

Easy listening rock. Good vocals

Classic

tbh just fine 3 stars

A perfectly fine pop/rock album with excellent vocals throughout. The hits are good and you probably know them, but a lot of the middle bits are pretty samey. At the end of the day, I likd most of it, but don't feel the need to revisit it much.

Pretty alright. I recognised two of the songs on this list despite 80s music being pretty far outside the music that interests me. It's from the 70s? That's nuts. Definitely ahead of the curve and deserving of the place on this list. While I'm not crazy about this album, I respect it.

I fw this heavy I knew some of the songs

Hi, I feel Side1 in stronger than Side 2. Debs vocal range was unexpected and to read the producer felt the members were sub-par is a tribute to getting everything he could out of a lazy band. NY v. LA thingster.

I listened to this already with my other account and it was eh? Liked some songs and some were mid imo

I like it but not really more than that. The singles off here are great, to the point where it might as well be a greatest hits album. I don't really care for the rest of the album though. It's nice disco flavoured punk / new wave but it's not really interesting enough for me. There's a lot of better music in this genre from the same period.

Great singles, but the rest suck.

It was decent. I hadn’t listened to them before and they did not blow me away for better or for worse

Eh. I never really liked Blondie's hits all that much and this album didn't change my mind. Mid pop from the late 70's. Sounded fine but really didn't do it for me.

Look, it's got "One Way Or Another" and "Heart of Glass", so, yeah, it's worth hearing. As a whole it's not great, as some songs are better than others, but it's enjoyable enough and a solid representation of Blondie's sound as most of us recognize it. I wouldn't consider it a must hear album, but I also don't mind that I listened to it.

- ganz cooles Album, ihre Stimme ist durchgehend gut, die Instrumentals machen Spaß und ich war dementsprechend oft am Mitwippen 3,25

Phuckyeah

Fun album

Wanted to like this more but I think there were too many songs that I felt indifferent about

Hard to believe they were playing this at CBGB's. Still, its gets a 3 rating - mostly for nostalgia.

Good but I never vibed with Blondie

A few bangers on this album, better than expected but didn't need the live stuff at the end.

Hanging On The Telephone - 5/5 One Way Or Another - 5/5 Picture This - 4/5 Fade Away And Radiate - 3/5 Pretty Baby - 3/5 I Know But I Don't Know - 2/5 11:59 - 3/5 Will Anything Happen - 3/5 Sunday Girl - 5/5 Heart Of Glass - 5/5 I'm Gonna Love You Too - 2/5 Just Go Away - 2/5 Average score: 3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ pretty solid album. didn't care for track 6, 11 &12 very much so that unfortunately didn't land them 4 stars or more for me

not a fan, personally

a few skippable track here and there, not sure if I'd ever put this n

A few great songs, otherwise sort of a relic of punk-pop

I liked about 4 songs. Not horrible, not great. I can take it or leave it.

Probably in the minority here but I really don't like Debbie Harry's voice. It has a weird Kermit quality that I find off putting. Some of the music is groovy though.

Good, not great

Great album from the 70’s. A breakout album for Blondie. Some memorable songs.

Couple great songs I'd listen to again. Overall, not something I'd listen to in its entirety.

Definitely a classic. Some top tunes on here

I think this album may be used as an example of an absolutely average record. There is one pretty good song, one that is quite catchy, and 10 others with no descriptive features. Very boring album, I guess there's not enough Blondie in Blondie, as she's the only good part of the band. It's funny that they have a Buddy Holly cover on Parallel Lines. I was thinking this record was very much in his style, just much worse. That's it.

Blondie really hit hard during my college days, and for a little while, I thought the bleached hot chick in a tight dress was Blondie. Nope, she’s Debbie, and the band be Blondie. Ok, whatever. The band is average, and she is the Bomb! Typical of the time. Sold a lot of records, but besides a few hits, the boys don’t stand out behind her.

ok. 2.5

3/5 Good not great pop-rock. Some classic songs but also a lot of fillers. Only one listen though.

Very fun dance punk. Not my favorite by any means, Blondie is always enjoyable.

I don’t think I would have listened to this entire album on my own, but i do have memories of listening to Heart of Glass on my mom’s iPod when i was like 6 years old, so for that track in particular, maybe I would have ventured out into the blondie-verse.

This was just ok, I guess. Some bangin' singles, but as a whole - ok.

норм

A few real bangers in there

Blondie has always been kind of meh. Not great, not bad. Just middle of the road new wave meh.

Enjoyable new wave and edgy for it’s time.

After One Way Or Another, the album lost me a bit, but I really enjoyed the second half of the album - 11:59 onwards.

One Way or Another this album will getcha, it’ll getcha, getcha, getcha, getcha.

Would not listen to of my only free will

Aside from the 3 hits, the rest was pretty average

Fun to listen to at first, kinda drags on a little but a couple of good tunes for sure

Very poppy but also very pleasant and listenable. More than muzac....

Nicht meine Lieblings Lieder von Blondie drauf

I knew a couple songs, don’t know more. The ones I knew were the good ones and the rest not so much.

One Way or Another is amazing. The rest was pretty good, but no huge standouts.

In the 70s I thought the best thing about Blondie was how cool and beautiful Debbie Harry was but I wasn’t really into their music. This album had some really good tracks and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. 3/maybe even touching 4* ?

Enjoyed that. Ahead of its time for sure.

Early Blondie. One Way is the big hit

Never heard it before but know the singles. Pretty solid, I feel like it could grow on me.

Can't say I like the band, but this album is quite interesting. It includes studio and live recordings, well known to more obscure songs, and genres that go from pop/disco to some sort of punk. Still, not something I would choose. 6/10

7/10 Highlights: Hanging on the Telephone Sunday Girl One Way or Another Just Go Away 11:59 Heart of Glass

pretty good

Similar but yet so inconsistent

All the blondie classics was this when they became commercially acceptable? Still a jolly good stomp.

Maybe my heart is made of stone, not glass, but one way or another I didn't need the whole album after noon

Blast from the past. A decent quirky album. A couple of classics on there. Overall not bad at all.

A mixed bag as a whole but ultimately has some fantastic material on it

70's, CBGB-era New York is my Marvel Universe. I listen to podcasts, read books, watch any movie about this particular era in music. I can't get enough. Imagine squatting in a 3,000 square foot loft in Soho making art in a leather jacket, then heading uptown to Max's Kansas City to catch a show and there's Lou Reed and Andy Warhol. Really cool time to be alive (I wasn't to my dismay). Blondie was always a peripheral in that universe -- not as punk as the Ramones and not as artsy as Patti Smith. But there was style. There was attitude. There were killer hooks. "While Heart of Glass" is a great tune, "One way or another" is where it's at. I enjoyed all of this album.

Lots got a few fun songs

A solid album. So many singles on here and the tracks that weren’t made me smile too.

Good album. Nearly a 4.

A ono. Ništa posebno I know but I don't know mi je ok. Heart of glass isto nije loša stvar Trojka

catchy, decent music, gets you moving nothing wrong with it, im enjoying listening to it, i dont actively want to skip any songs, but i also dont wish anything was longer.. i do keep getting that "oh! this classic! i like this song!" but other than that, i dont feel anything special about this album, its good, dont get me wrong, but nothings grabbed me.. YET! okay nevermind, didnt get GREAT.. nothing wrong, nothing id reccomend to anyone.

Pretty much what you expect from Blondie. Solid, not spectacular.

My dad listened to this nonstop for like a year so I'd rather not

so much fun I love blondie, such a badass!!! like kim and kelly deal, kim gordon and chrissie hynde - they'll always be so uber cool to me <3 this album cranks with the 1st 2 tracks, has a punky, sometimes a Ronnie Spector/early 60s 'bemylittlebaby', sometimes dancy feel I love the variety and her unapologetic sass - Debbie Harry was so fierce back then, one of the only 'cute little blond' chicks who you would even think of messing with. I was at a TomTom Club concert in 1989 and she was standing right in front of us - we were DYING! Royalty.

I feel bad that I don't have more positive feelings for this album. 3/5

The deep cuts are better than the hits imo.

From the grungy stage of CBGBs to the heights of bubblegum pop sensibilities. She was cute and knew what she was doing. The album is good enough without actually being good.

Fun with some good hits

Definitely enjoy the pop rock sound. I had heard a few songs before but never the whole thing.

The hits are amazing, some songs not my favorite, 3.5/5

Heart of Glass is a bop. That tasty 7/8 bridge... A few other good ones on here, but the rest sounds very antiquated to me.

I was a young lad when this album came out. I remember all of the classic tracks but I've never listened to the complete album previously. It was exactly how I expected it to be. It's a symbol of the late 70's when music was changing constantly. I would listen again if it came on, but I wouldn't actively seek it out to listen again. It's got 3 stars written all over it!

Make me jig.

Such a fun album. It's right in that era where pop music was transitioning out of disco and into that distinct 80s sound. Some hits on this record that really stand out that we all hear in many places we go to, or even from commercials we see on TV. The vocals lend so well to the harmony of the instrumentation. Would have loved to seen this band perform live back in their prime. Very entertaining record.

Buen álbum, sonido adelantado a su época y con muy buenas canciones, lo volvería a escuchar

Enjoyed this album a lot. Great drums.

i also want some minions like debbie harry 😫😫😫 #girlboss

Didn’t mind this one…only had heard the singles from Blondie in the past. Liked a few of the album cuts. I’ll call it a 3.

Ok, not really my style.

Pretty fun straightforward guitar driven pop album. Torn between a 3 and a 4. 3.4

greatness

Post-punk perfection? Ms. Harry's voice is often the most imaginative instrument in the band (I would have forwarded it more in the mix). Moody, melodic, masterful. Highly pop influenced, the album keeps changing its particular approach. A couple misses, but mostly keeping things very engaging.

Energetic.

I liked the second half better than the first half. Highlights? Sunday Girl and Heart of Glass, naturally. Still, all in all, just an OK album for me. I think I could have died happy without having heard it, to be honest.

C+ Just a couple of songs that I liked, could leave the rest, not one that I would listen through every song.

pretty cool, not my usual thing but some classic songs

Also die Klassiker sind Bombe, aber wusste nicht das die anderen Songs der Band so schlecht sind. 3/5

Nette sounds, aber selbst die bekannten songs mich jetzt nicht umgehauen

Ok not my favourite found all the songs a bit too similar for my liking

One Way or Another: This song seems like this woman is suspicious that his boyfriend has some sinister intentions, like cheating. I think so because in the song, it says "And if the lights are all out I'll follow your bus downtown See who's hangin' out'" In the song 'Heart of Glass' I think that the most important line is ""Once I had a love and it was a gas" which shows that the meaning could be that, you don't know the person as well as you think you do

Hmmmm couldn't get into it really. some good songs

This is fine but not that great. Great beat on some well-known songs, but the lyrics ("mucho mistrust"?) undermine overall quality.

Knew the hits, rest of the album was pretty fun

Por fin escuche el origen de esos covers de Miley Cyrus y 1D. Me gustó más el trabajo original.

Didn’t listen to the whole thing but a few gems here

Really enjoyed Hanging on the Telephone, and have added a lot of songs that I hadn't necessarily realised were Blondie but had heard in movies, etc. Picture This got a bit dull after the first minute or so. Really loved Fade Away And Radiate, Bang a Gong, and Hanging on the Telephone.

Upbeat, optimistic, funky

A few great songs mixed with a ton of filler.

Going into this album, I only knew Heart Of Glass and One Way Or Another (both great tracks) and I was expecting the rest of the album to be roughly the same style and quality. I was a little disappointed. Most of the remaining songs, while generally good, don't quite live up to those two overshadowing singles. Neither of the two facets (rock and punk) were really committed to fully, and the product is a sort of lower-energy blend of the two genres. It's not bad, but I wish it were more gritty, more "biting". Even One Way Or Another, arguably containing the hardest rock on the album, is tamer than I remember it being. The songwriting is pretty great, though, and for that reason alone I can't justify giving this album less than a 3. The guitar riffs are simple, effective, and catchy. I enjoy Debbie Harry's clear, emotive singing, though again I wish it could be grittier. Not too much else to comment on. Key tracks: Heart Of Glass, Hanging On The Telephone, Sunday Girl, Heart One Way Or Another

I thought I would be super into this. It's solid but it wasn't at the level I was expecting. Still a fun record.

3.5☆/5 08.30.2024

Cool. Stoked to listen to some Blondie. Definitely know Blondie. Only know a song or two. I know One Way or Another. Pretty good stuff. Not sure if I can listen to the whole album.

Blast from my past! My recollection of Blondie as a kid in junior high, hot, ex-playboy bunny turn banger, rock n roller. Listening to this album in 2024, still hot, but not really banger rock, but more of a pop rock sound. I think of you've heard the name Blondie, you probably know One Way or Another and Heart of Glass, the 2 biggest hits off this album. I went into this thinking it would be a lot more of the rockish, punkish sound. Definitely not. It's more of a pop sound, but I still enjoyed my listens. Hanging on the Telephone, I Know but I Don't Know, Sunday Girls and I'm Gonna Love You Too are songs that stood out for me. Can't say I would seek this album out again, but it certainly made me go way back into the memory back and made me smile. I think all the boys had a crush on her back in the day, it didn't matter what she was singing! Great memories and some some solid tunes. 3.5

3.5 I enjoyed this album, but this is definitely one of those situations where the hits largely outweigh everything else. While Blondie’s best tune isn’t here (Call Me), it does have One Way or Another, Heart of Glass, and Hanging on the Telephone, all of which are also great songs, but the rest of this album just doesn’t come anywhere close. There’s nothing here that’s bad, and I even thought each song had a bit of unique sound to it, but despite that, there wasn’t really anything that stuck with me outside of the hits, all of which I was familiar with going in. I can’t help but wonder if the reason this album is as iconic as it is is because it came from an era where if you just wanted to hear two songs by an artist, you still had to buy the whole damn album. So, for the most part, I would say there’s nothing here that really did much to expand my appreciation of Blondie, but I had a moment with I’m Gonna Love You Too that sort of did in a weird, roundabout way. The first thing I thought of when I heard it was Rudie Can’t Fail by The Clash, which, in my opinion, has a similar melody to its verses. Given the group’s punk roots, I thought it may have been some kind of nod, so I was surprised to see the song actually came out a year before Rudie Can’t Fail. Learning that kind of helped me put into perspective how ahead of their time Blondie truly was - this album would not feel out of place at all being released at probably any point during the 1980s. You can really hear how the group laid the framework for the new wave sound that would shape the decade ahead, and this was at a time conventional classic rock artists were still putting out major records and punk was in full swing. That all to say, while ahead of its time, I do wish the band hadn’t totally abandoned their roots with this album - I’m definitely biased as a punk fan, but I think the end result is maybe just a touch too poppy for my tastes. But then again, this was a major commercial success for the group, so I’m sure they succeeded in what they set out to accomplish.

As someone who adores new wave and Blondie songs usually, this was surprisingly boring. Aside from the singles: Hanging on the telephone, One way or another, Sunday Girl and Heart of Glass(all brilliant songs), I found the rest of the album disappointing. This is one of Blondie's most popular albums, but it was lacking something. Perhaps Blondie are a 'singles band'. Or maybe I need to give it another chance? It wasn't a bad album. Just quite lackluster; I expected better.

A few standout songs. Didn't strike a cord with me.

never been the biggest fan of blondie, but this is a decent album. some of their best songs on here, but overall it felt middle of the road

Can't deny its place on this list for having multiple mega hits. Mostly light fun pop music.

Cool but sort of wore out it's welcome by the end.

It's obviously got two standout tracks in One way or another and Heart of Glass. The rest isn't bad per se, but not very interesting. The drumming with its too frequent cymbal use for single accents is actually surprisingly annoying to my ears.

Some ones with big staying power on here, but most of these didn’t keep me super interested. Hanging On The Telephone was an out-of-nowhere hit for me though

had some really high highs.

Great hit single in Heart of Glass, but the lack of musicianship is really apparent throughout the record.

Achei supimpa

fun, does lots of different genres well, not necessarily something i would listen too regularly

Some old school bangers on here (One Way Or Another, Heart of Glass) that remind me of GTA: Vice City

This is THE new wave album. The perfect blend of pop and rock with a little punk thrown in, while remaining incredibly accessible. I saw Blondie around 2016 and Debbie Harry’s belting out “One Way or Another” was still great nearly 40 years later.

go girls, bastante sólido pero nada muy impresionante

Undeniable

No bad.

Few classics but also some filler tracks

Probably the first (only?) album of Mum and Dad's that I got into more than them. Loved Deb and Blondie.

“One Way or Another” is based on Debbie Harry’s real-life stalker, which makes its bouncy menace hit a little differently. The rest of the album is polished, catchy, and era-defining—even if it doesn’t all stalk you back.

Debbie Harry is such a smokeshow. I don't think this band holds up as much without her allure but damn does it work. I'm glad I listened though I don't think I'll be returning often.

had some great songs , but some songs were ok

Classic and always an enjoyable listen 7/10

Was looking forward to hearing this until I realized my favs: Call Me, Rapture and The Tide is High weren’t on this album. I wish we could just listen to “the best of” compilations.

Some good hits, overall not one of my favorites but more enjoyable than some of our previous albums.

6/13/24. Fun songs and album! Blondie has always been on my radar and visiting this album I can understand why. I do think as you listen it gets a little repetitive, but not enough to tune out.

Some songs are good but the rest were very meh

it was cool. one way or another is a cute circus of a song. i just wasn’t in the mood for it but it’s good to have it on my radar

I didn't know Blondie was responsible for some of these songs I had heard before. 3.7

Alright, has some good hits on it.

Good record. Little punkish, little new wavish, little polished. I would guess this is the record that made her a star.

Très cool. Plein de sons connus pubs etc

Sympa de découvrir un album complet de Blondie. Je ne connaissais que Heart of Glass +++ Fade away and radiate ++ Je ne l'achèterais pas, mais il est plutôt agréable à écouter.

Very good.

fun awesome wholesome dance-pop boppers. ya ya babyyyy. GODDD the raw guttural gurgling in her screaming vocals elevates each song it's used in to a different PLAIN of emotional impactfulness. basically she's MOTHER!

听不懂,唱腔没觉得有多厉害,音乐些许前卫?但是有点太摇滚了

I mean it was alright. Had some bops.

- a couple of iconic songs on here - great positive vibes - her voice is very nice

A strong start, weak finish, "Heart of Glass" notwithstanding. Disappointing to say the least!

This album was around a lot back in the day. I always preferred a couple of the less played numbers like "Hanging On The Telephone" and "Pretty Baby" to the radio favorites but that's usually the case with me. A solid selection today.

solid, not memorable.

Not great, not bad, definitely not my cup of tea though.

Favorite Track: Heart of Glass A very up-beat and fun album to listen to. I knew quite a few songs on this one. I rate this album 3.6/5

Great album, listened to it many times, good catchy 70s pop album, way better than Madonna. 8/10. The best song is The Tide Is High with Heart Of Glass being a close 2nd.

Some punk, some disco. The non-singles are more interesting

Blondie gets a lot of praise and credit for their connection to cbgb & punk blending with disco and later hiphop. The reality is, aside from Heart of Glass, which stands out as being something above and beyond, this album is a really safe corporatized reinvention of 60s girl pop. It’s as punk as Elvis Costello. That’s not to say Elvis Costello is bad, and neither is this. It just doesn’t measure up to reputation.

Pretty solid. Good hits

I enjoyed some of the songs but grew tired of the album by the end. Maybe it's fatigue from hearing this a lot in my childhood.

Stabil trea.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this album because all I ever knew of Blondie were the hits played on MTV and I never liked "Heart of Glass". This album was a lot more fun than I thought it would be and it was a good reflection of what was happening with music at the time. The good outweighed the bad and I enjoyed it.

Pretty decent.

Cool, but not really for me...

(ud over de uundgåelige bangers.)

This was better than expected, but I guess I just don’t like many of these songs in general.

Nice lil album. Debbie Harry is welcome to get me one way or another.

This album feels lime the soundtrack to a movie like The Warriors. Not that story but like a semi dystopian low-budget flick that’s hyper local and weirdly specific—I’m imagining a 1983 human-cyborg love story in five blocks on the lower east side of Manhattan, like her meets bientennial man meets the Fisher King except lower-fi and lower-budget—and the producers they didn’t ask Blondie to score the film but instead were like you know what would be a great soundtrack for this movie? this album Blondie already made, we can just lay it on top of everything. And audiences are confused at first but then absolutely love it in a joking-but-not-joking kind of way and it’s part of the reason the flick becomes such a cult classic. Also, how fucking good is Robin Williams in The Fisher King?

It’s like if No Doubt was a new wave band! -wildly strong, unique female lead vocalist (who is just a little quirky) -mostly faceless male instrumentalists who keep it tight in the backing tracks -a dynamic that produced some of the most spunky pop tracks of its respective time

Beginning was pretty good, but then it started to fall off a bit towards the end. I really liked "Fade Away and Radiate" and "One Way or Another". Overall, It was a decent album.

Ein Album das mit so einem knackigen Opener beginnt kann nicht ganz schlecht sein. Schöne Mischung aus rockig und poppig.

A fun album with some oldies but goodies!

Knows it. Okay.

Held up by its four big tracks, this has a lot of filler in between.

This album has all the songs I’ve ever heard from blonde before. Good reason they’re on this list I suppose. Overall I thought it was fun 80s pop album that still has some songs that are enjoyable today. Sometimes it doesn’t need to be more complicated than that. 6.7/10

This was a good album. I hadn't listened to the entire thing before, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the entire album is easy to listen to.

Blondie was an interesting act but not good enough to sustain an album length of songs. Greatest hits is excellent but even that is not worthy of inclusion on this list.

This album has staying power. I like how the vocals mix is on top of the music. I think Blondie knew what they had in Deobrah Harry. She is Blondie. I appeciate New Wave, and like The Cars debut album, these songs just rattle off machine gun style, each complete with iconic vocals, catchy riffs, and that throwback, but also mainstream new wave vibe. I appreciate what Blondie is and how they developed their sound and legacy. It's not all for me, especilaly when they dip their toe into disco, but some of it is awesome.

classic eighty album

A few really nice songs. In total a good album I would listen again. "I am gonna love you too" is one of my favorite songs.

Terminally 70s pop-rock with the time's signature softened mix and a hit streak that seems almost effortless. That said, some of the songs do come off as secondary cuts to their much better fleshed out counterparts on the very same album, but a vibe is a vibe.

I wanted to like this more. Heart of Glass is great! The rest just didn’t do much for me and Debbie Harry sounds like a lunatic on One Way or Another

Classic 80s with a few excellent tracks
