Reviews (page 3 of 8)

I can kinda see why Lana Del Rey has a following; thought it was ok. All of her songs do kinda sound the same, though, but I've heard much worse. 7/10.

Iconic but not life-changing

Another slightly baffling and frustrating modern pick. For my money LDR is one of the most distinctive, consistent and best artists of the last 15 years so absolutely deserves representation on the list, it’s just that there are about 4 albums of hers I’d choose over this one. ‘Chemtrails’ is big on gentle, meditative reflections and pretty acoustic songs, but contains little of the cinematic melodrama/stately orchestral beauty/ genre-melding hip-hop beats/noirish mythologising of America that various of her other releases excel in. I'll still give it a generous rating though, mainly because the first two tracks are among my favourites of hers. 3.5 / 4

Pretty good.

Started and finished strong, plenty of bangers. The middle few songs were pretty dreary, I guess that's her style but I simply didn't have the appetite for a full album of it. Melancholic

Beautiful voice and production.

Mellow but enjoyable.

Good album. Pretty songs and vocals. I dislike that most artists, and particularly female artists, only seem to sing about relationships and sexual attractions in a majority of their songs. There is so much more to the human experience and the world. After the eleventh song about heartbreak or a partner and their relationship, I’ve lost interest and no matter how lovely the voice or how different the melody the song is lost on me.

A wonderfully beautiful soundscape It's really really good. Taylor Swift owes this girl money because she's been directly lifting stuff from this album for years

My first 2020s record on here. I love Lana and there’s a lot that’s good on this album but it’s far from her best. (Not even the best she put out that year!)

White dress on todella hyvä, samoin Breaking up slowly. Muutkin välissä jees, siellähän oli melodioita. Vaatisi toisen kuuntelukerran, jotta pääsisi sanoihin sisälle, mutta se ei ainakaan mulla nostais arvosanaa.

Another one I actually am familiar with, what a treat! I've always mostly enjoyed this album. It is quite subtle in it's beauty and won't hit you over the head with it, but a really nice listen nonetheless. Lana's vocals are incredible here and nearly solely carry the whole record. 8/10

It makes so much sense that she married a Florida alligator wrangler.

Goed gezongen, mooie nummers, lekker ontspannen.

I liked it. Quiet, tender, close. First half of the album was what I really liked. Standouts: White Dress, Tulsa Jesus Freak, Let Me Love You Like A Woman, Dark But Just A Game, and Not All Who Wonder Are Lost.

palkon faktaa neidillä

her spacey vibe is pretty mesmerizing. For a pop super star this is pretty good. 3.5 rounding up

Melancholic, disillusioned, quiet and loud. It speaks to the part of me that yearns for love and mourns from heartbreak. It has a much more well-rounded sound, overall feel and tonality which I really enjoyed.

I'm a fan of Lana Del Rey and this album, but got to admit I was surprised to see this on the list. It's not her best album. Hell, it's not her best album released in 2021! That said, it's still a good album - moody, dramatic, with just enough pop hooks to keep you reeled. I just wish Lana Del Rey was represented by Norman Fucking Rockwell! instead.

It's nice and relaxing. But it's like generic ambient music at times.

A mellow drive through the country, meeting your family and gazing over the farms and woods. A plesant drive, but it doesn't really grab me. However, the similarity to Lorde's Solar Power is wonderful for me.

Does not quite reach the heights of Norman efffin Rockwell but conveys a nice country-lite atmosphere. Very intimate, very lovely.

Heyrið, mér fannst þetta skemmtilegt.

“White Dress” is one of my favorite Lana Del Rey songs. There are nights when I just need that song and nothing else will do. I love her breathless falsetto. It’s a touching, nostalgic song reflecting on those golden years of your youth when you feel independent, free and unstoppable. But there’s a touch of irony too. “Down at the Men in Music Business Conference” is a hilarious line that introduces a touch of menace into the song. Where does this 19-year-old waitress get her power from? From her tight, white dress as she serves professional men in the music industry. It makes her “feel like a god,” probably because of the attention she gets wearing it around these powerful men. And while “summer’s almost gone,” along with the innocence that comes with it, this memory of being 19 still feels precious and pure. I always get swept up by the momentum of the music on that song and on the title track that follows. Lana Del Rey and Jack Antonoff’s songwriting and production can make piano-driven torch songs feel like head bangers. There’s so much drama in the music! “Let Me Love You Like a Woman” is an another gorgeous song. Lana Del Rey has such a mesmerizing voice. She has power in her voice but her performances can also be subtle and restrained. She can sing deep and sultry, or high and soaring, or bring the volume down to a whisper. Lana Del Rey has one of the more idiosyncratic styles in modern music — there’s no mistaking her songs — and I love how she sprinkles in a wide variety of sounds and styles without changing the core sound too much. Some rustic country here, a hip-hop beat there, lush strings and a 70s rock influence… but the music is always uniquely hers.

I'm still going through her discography so many of her songs are new to me, but I'm really enjoying them when I sit and listen. This album I'm pretty sure sounds like her others- filled with cinematic storytelling, optimism, heartbreak, and of course heavy drama. She so easily will take a song places- with a key change, a change in vocal or instrument production, addition/subtraction of elements... it's all there for a sonic journey. Sometimes I imagine her sitting and writing these songs and it's hard for me to understand how it's done. "Dark But Just A Game" is all of these vignettes masterfully blended together (like many songs on this record) and I wonder if she writes them piece by piece and then plugs them all together when the stories align on the album. It's very cool and leads to great song structures. This however is a hard rate for me. It feels better than a 3, but she has several albums that I believe are better than this that might be teetering on 5's, so this feels like a solid 4. Ok maybe it's not a hard rate. Wonderful album. Thanks!

Lana's voice is captivating the whole way through, which is what I think carries the album. It can distract you from the songs sounding a bit too similar. I enjoyed the whole album, so I can't really give it low marks. But it would be nice to hear more variation

Not the best Lana Album but still good.

She constantly releases good albums

I enjoyed this.

Beautiful :) it’s easy for me to completely miss music like this assuming it’s manufactured mainstream drivel. I’m wrong on this one - she’s authentic can write and sing. Beautiful and melancholic, uplifting and soothing - I like Lana.

I can't distinguish any song but I do like this record.

Me gustó bastante. No la había escuchado antes y disfruté mucho de su voz y las piezas más lentas.

Favorite Track: Chemtrails Over The Country Club

I must have heard this artist on Radio Paradise as she sounded familiar. A bit piano heavy for my taste but I enjoyed it and will listen again - like a chilled Florence + The Machine.

Very good album

Like a baby angel whispering sad thoughts in my ear

Lana is my queen

I've known about Lana Del Ray for years but never listened to anything of hers. Welp, I found out today I'm a fan. Thanks, 1001 list.

Love Lana !!!

I'm a fan! I've only listened to a few songs before today. Her voice, the lyrics, and the feel are all very cinematic. It takes you into a different era but is still relevant.

Why is she so sad always?

Enjoyed!

Though this album also deserves to be on the list, I do not understand Norman Fucking Rockwell not being on it as it is a bit better. Both are full of good songwriting and Lana has a mesmerising voice.

Singular, romantic, heartfelt songs of love and loss and adventure, with echoes of the best of Laurel Canyon. Fabulous tunes, great harmonies. A deep collection, which will reward repeated listening

The first track was amazing…but it was one of those albums where any album could have been track 1 and had the same response as the rest were all derivatives of the same style, albeit a very good one.

8/10. Great voice. Creative and enjoyable.

Entspannter Pop mit Country-Elementen 4/5

I have not listened to much of Lana's music before, but I am a huge fan of female vocals. For me, music is an emotional experience and women can express their emotions in song. Lana's voice has a hypnotic, dream-like quality and her lyrics tell a story that one can follow along and feel what she is feeling. If I had any criticism it would be all of the songs on this album have the same tone, and I am looking for her to really let loose and belt out a few tunes, but this may not be her style. I do really like when the tunes have an Americana influence. Overall a very enjoyable listen although not my typical go-to.

Far out on the horizon, between blushing fantasy and crushing reality, there's a kind of America that exists only in grainy films, sepia photographs and lonely dreams. Focus on that horizon and you'll probably see Lana Del Ray floating across in a white dress, catching her career in a butterfly net. "Chemtrails over the Country Club" marks her arrival in the 2020's, two years after the critically adored "Norman Fucking Rockwell". I love "NFR" like anybody else who likes music from 2019, so was sceptical going in to this one. How could Del Rey possibly top her earlier album, and why the hell wasn't it on the list instead? There's no clear answer, but while "Chemtrails" is a lesser work, it's happy to settle for being very, very good. "White Dress" is a stunning opening, featuring a tantalising slow build, an aching piano refrain, an avalanche of lyrics, and a widescreen flashback to Del Rey's pre-fame life. She was a waitress, in a white dress, nineteen years old, pushing to make her way in the industry at any cost. The closing reflection, "kinda makes me feel like I was better off", hits much harder than a lyric about a self-pitying multi-millionaire has any right to. With the scene set, the rest of the album is devoted to romantic idealism, notes of introspection, and yearning wanderlust. Aside from "White Dress", "Wild at Heart" is my favourite song on here: expansive and cinematic with a breathtaking chorus. "Let Me Love You Like A Woman" and the title track also deserve to be singled out, finding great strength in their tenderness. There's some pleasing variety in Del Rey's vocals throughout the album; from the taut and breathless memories of "White Dress" to the high-flying croon of "Yosemite" to the throaty snarls in "Dance Till We Die". On the other hand, though, Jack Antonoff's production is mostly muted and restrained, with big swampy reverb, lots of soft mid-range frequencies, and feathery pillows full of Del Rey's multi-tracked vocals: it leads to a pleasant but non-essential second-half. "Not All Those Who Wander Are Lost" has a pretty melody over sparse fingerpicked guitar, but has all the lyrical depth of a fridge magnet. "Breaking Up Slowly" is a head-scratching pivot into soft-boiled country. And finally, "For Free" comes full-circle with "White Dress", as Del Rey acknowledges the legacy of a fellow singer-songwriter who walked her road. It's a good cover, with a particularly striking guest verse from Weyes Blood, but feels like a strange non-sequitur as an ending track. Overall, though, "Chemtrails" is a quietly captivating record which holds us in Del Rey's imagined America for a stirring forty-five minutes. It's not "Norman Fucking Rockwell", but it's well worth a listen.

Decent songs but they're very slow and they sound very similar to each other. There's an almost comforting sense of melancholy with each one. However, the country theme is enforced a little too much and the lyrics felt random and discombobulated at times. If slow crooning is your thing, this is a good album. Otherwise, it's okay to listen to once.

Beautiful music to slit your wrists to

Heul prettig relaxte zingerzongschrijvermuziek, regenachtig weertje, melancholieke stemming. Goeie titel ook. Mooi om te weten dat er nog altijd goede muziek wordt gemaakt op deze wereld. (Oh en bij Joni bedoelde ik een 4, maar beïnvloed door Cees werd het per ongeluk een 2...)

I like the furrow that Lyana ploughs. Favourite songs: Breaking up Slowly, Dance Till We Die, For Free.

é o melhor álbum da lana? não. eu gosto dele mesmo assim? sim

Better than anything swift has made in a decade

Opening track is a belter after a few listens. Might be a grower.

Ahh to be young and at the Men in Music Business Conference again.

Lana has an incredible voice, and while I don’t listen to her often, I did enjoy this album and it showcases her talent much like her other albums that I’m more familiar with.

My first instincts are that I love the opening piano and live feel - but then her voice... a combination of the overly-breathy phrasing and "that vowel-thing" (don't pretend you don't know what i'm talking about) distracts a bit. I feel like I must listen to music differently than most - her lyrics are immediately distracting to me, for the most part I don't *want* to notice lyrics - I like when the vocals are an instrument as part of the package. I'm not saying I don't like the lyrics, but it's an adjustment here especially right away on "White Dress" - but maybe it all takes a little getting used to... ... OK... As the album goes on though I found myself kinda leaning into it (vocals), and actually liking the unique style. The music is wide open using a lot of space - nice slow builds on many tracks - love the piano-focus and general emphasis on instruments. Organic-sounding. And by the end of the album I didn't even notice anything that might annoy me about the vocals - I just really like this music. I'm not sure what I expected but definitely not this - it sounds great but arrangement-wise could have been release 50 years ago (compliment). Nice surprise and I'll definitely listen again - really like this album. 8/10 4 stars

Hauntingly beautiful music

Interesting listening to this right after Lana headlined Coachella. I remember when summertime sadness came out when I was in college. I enjoyed that first album even if it was a little slow. I probably listened to the remixes more than the original. Kinda surprised she seemly recently blew up to this level. I hear it’s because of tik tok? Either way good for her, she has some nice songs and good lyrics, even if the album is a little slow and monotonous for me.

Interesting

took some time to get into it, but the lyrics are truly the highlight. some of the singing can be surprisingly grating but overall liked it more than expected

I know who Lan Del Rey is but couldn't have told you anything she sings. I think I've been missing out because she's quite good. Good voice (almost classic), good lyrics. Mind you, the album has a sort of Taylor Swift style, and that might be because Jack Antonoff is central in producing both. I also struggle to tell the difference between her voice and contemporaries like Phoebe Bridgers, Olivia Rodrigo, even Billie Eilish and Miley Cyrus. Now part of that might be that she inspired the first three or that music execs today want all their female singer songwriters to sound the same - e.g., doing that high-pitched almost whispery singing. Or maybe I should blame autotune, which is used to over-effect on Tulsa Jesus Freak and maybe makes everyone sound similar these days. It would be a shame if her voice is pure fabrication, which I don't think it is, but that song made me wonder. It seems Del Rey has earned a lot of praise and honestly I'm not sure if this is considered her best album so I'm a little skeptical of it being included on the list. But whatever, maybe she's good enough to have one album on this list. I did listen to this one on repeat and enjoyed the experience. Favorite songs were White Dress, the title track, Let Me Love You Like a Woman, Wild at Heart, Yosemite, and For Free.

Favourite song - Chemtrails over the country club

I rather enjoyed this one. I didn't get into this indie genre until recently and it is nice to have a large catalogue of options available.

Lana delivers a very vulnerable and intimate vocal performance and is backed up with great production. Out of all her albums, this isn't the one I would include on this list as she has stronger and more varied projects that better showcase her abilities. Still worth a listen though.

Liked it but didn’t love it

This was much better than I expected.

Really, really in my wheelhouse. Through my 30s my taste has distilled into 'whispering women singing about the pain of being pure at heart', and Lana gets it. Her voice is very dramatic, sometimes a little too much, but the music is great, and there are way more hits than misses.

This is not my favorite Lana Del Rey album I've ever heard, but it has her characteristic style: beautiful voice over great music with lyrics that like to dip their toes into smuttiness. 4/5

I really like Lana Del Rey although I don't know why, the chilled vibes? So yeah I really liked this but don't know what marks it out beyond other chilled out vibes. She goes a bit Joan Baez in places. Hey, there's a reference I couldn't make it it wasn't for this project!

Although it features her best album title to date, the music within delivers diminishing returns when compared to Ultraviolence or NFR!

neke nice, neke meh, sve depra haha

Great easy listen 4/5

Pretty gloomy vibes, such a beautiful voice, nice and slow.

Solid. I guess Lana is a bit love or hate, but I'd generally consider myself a fan.

I have a hard time reconciling my distaste for Lana Del Rey's (real name: Elizabeth Grant) somewhat inauthentic, daddy-subsidized origins. I recognize she's far from the only artist guilty of it (cough Taylor Swift cough), and I also know that money isn't everything; talent still needs to be the backbone of success. All that said, I found this album a little too one-note, although I didn't mind it. I would listen to it again to see if it grows on me. Side note, but dudes on this site are clowning on themselves when they say they're not the "target audience" for a female musician. There's no target; you just fail to see women as equals.

Actually listen-listened this time and it is pretty good! On my list of things to return to. Everything is just so dreary, though.

This is a quite objectively good album. I'm not the worlds biggest Lana Del Rey fan, but the concept here is really solid, and the execution throughout the album is just spot on. Don't come in expecting to get a ton of hard, loud songs, but just really well mixed, well sung mostly ballads that tell a good story.

Overall, "Chemtrails Over The Country Club" is a worthy addition to Lana Del Rey's discography and a testament to her enduring influence in the music industry.

I really liked this. I never say I'm a fan of Lana Del Rey but I've listened to her a bit more recently and she is undeniably banging if you are in the right mood. I thought the first track was brilliant, really took me by surprise. There's some really good song structures on this album, very good writing.

I'm a bit behind so we'll keep this brief. Lana does so much to separate herself from her contemporaries. This album is more stripped back, but feels like she is showing why she is the best at what she does. From wispy vocals to unique lyrical phrasing and back to cultivating get specific aesthetic, she doesn't miss.

She's just so great when she's good.

very good chill and emotional indie album but i think there re better by lana out there.yosemite, wild at heart,or in short from track 3 to 7 was wonderful

Bit boring. Could see myself liking this more if it was sad boy hours but still a solid album, I enjoyed :] Very light 4, probably more like a 3.5

I really like it. Something I would never pick to listen to.

One wants to read this as short story of young struggles, and one likes it on those terms, and when one can get quiet enough to enjoy this on its own terms. The "White Dress" song is relatable and affecting, for instance. The less she sounds like Fiona Apple and the more she sounds like Hope Sandoval (e.g., "Yosemite"), the more one likes it. The delicate guitar work that comes weaving in ever so gently toward the end of "Not All Who Wander" is the best moment on the record, and makes it seem like it's 1967 or '69 of a sudden. The weaknesses are also related to youth; an overvaluing of lyrical cleverness (not all instances of which work well); the excessively breathless vocals suggest the need to tell LDR that all this urgent young person stuff and amazing experiences really aren't so much actually. Still, she's young and glam so there is some beauty and passion and things to be enthusiastic about. And one rounds up to show one's belief in youth and, therefore, the future of music, humanity, et al.

Could have been a 5. Vocals in the first song sounded like nails on a chalkboard to me tho

Det här växer på en. Börjar lite tråkigt men sen förstår man mer och mer hur snyggt det är. En något svag 4

Have we gotten any other Lana?? Maybe Norman Fucking Rockwell? So happy to see her on here. Hope that means we get a few more of hers (was it Ultraviolence?). Cool we have a 2021 album on this list. Relistening to this, I’m remember how much I enjoyed this album when it came out. Lana always takes a few listens to grow on me. I think it’s that her music, to me, is midnight music. The kind of stuff that plays on a record as it gets late. It’s that same quality I ascribe to jazz and singers like Frank Sinatra. Old fashioned Night Club music. This album is the last one that plays at the club as everyone is leaving. Though, her Americana qualities translate it to Country Club music this time around. This was the year she dropped two albums so I think they both got lost in the shuffle of that year, but she’s making a big comeback in my head, especially with her most recent album. Huge shout out to Tulsa Jesus Freak, I’ve always posed that question that it’s either Ar Kansas or it’s (Ar)Kensaw. I’m glad Lana is on my side. Keepers: Chemtrails Over Country Club, Tulsa Jesus Freak, Let Me Love You Like a Woman, Not All Who Wander Are Lost, Yosemite

Tremendously excited to get a Lana Del Rey album on here, especially right after the year when she released (in my opinion) her best album ever: Did You Know That There's a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. I listened to this one back in 2021, and I remember two things: (1) being really impressed with "White Dress," and (2) being more into the other album she released that year, Blue Bannisters. But holy cow, on a relisten, and maybe in the aftermath of Ocean Blvd, this album is fantastic. Some incredible songs on here, especially "Let Me Love You Like a Woman." Almost everything on here banged this time around. Second half loses a little steam compared to the first, but overall it's excellent. Lana's music and songwriting has matured so much in the 10+ years that I've been listening, and I truly feel like she is the best at what she does. If you consider her a pop star, what other pop artist is even on this level? Favorite tracks: Let Me Love You Like a Woman, White Dress, Tulsa Jesus Freak, Chemtrails Over the Country Club, Wild at Heart, Dark But Just a Game, Breaking Up Slowly, Dance Til We Die. Album art: Black and white photo of what I would describe as a gathering of socialites from the '50s. As usual, Lana is committed to the Americana aesthetic, and this one nails it. The title is incredible, the font is also perfect, and really the picture feels like a TPAB for white American housewives. Lana is in the picture (white dress, no surprise), and I'm almost certain that's her sister sitting to the right of her. Awesome album art. 4.5/5

I dig the vibe. A couple of these songs went on my liked songs list

Un album assez remarquable de la part de Lana Deltrapeze .

I’m sort of the target audience for this album I feel like it so naturally I enjoyed it a lot. Still doesn’t beat NFR for me but will definitely be listening again. Love Lana!

Insane vocal range and uses it very well. Well-fitting for a cold winter day at home.

good sound, very interesting.

Surprised by how much I liked it. Needs to be added to the rotation.

In the same vein as Folklore (same producer) with beautiful vocals, thought-provoking lyrics and piano-heavy composition. Mellow with lovely melodies and a Joni Mitchell cover! I'd listen in the background when just chilling.

This is awesome 🔥🔥

I went in with low expectations thinking I wouldn't like Lana Del Rey and turns out I was wrong. This album is pretty solid with Lana showing off the range of her voice but also capturing several feelings.

she's incredible but I wish Norman f*cking Rockwell was in this list instead, cause thats a perfect album, a little more varied and more memorable

Atmospheric and mellow album, great to relax or background music

Such a mood and a perfect listen for a lazy afternoon. Fav songs: Wild At Heart & Dark But Just A Game

first time listening

Bohemia core to the max

One of those albums I expected to hate - a soundscape rather than a set of songs - but I really didn't. Yes it doesn't ever really change its moods but these are a very solid set of songs.

A more ballad heavy offering then her other stuff. I liked most of it a lot tho preferred Norman fucking Rockwell.

Americana. No soy muy fan del tipo de música pero canta tan bien... Un 4.

This was my first time listening to this album. I was surprised to find it here as I would expect something like ‘Norman Fucking Rockwell’ to be on this list instead. However, I found this album to be more contemplative and even. The music was piano driven and had some truly terrific vocals layering throughout. At 45 minutes the album doesn’t run too long, but it does start to sound the same. The penultimate track has more movement which I enjoyed. The lyrics are straight Lana Del Rey, faded glamour, and musings about love and change.

Solid album, some great songs just not quite my taste

She has a way of capturing the beauty and terror of modern life. I very much enjoy this album.

I love this album right from the start. Wow. Really don't know Lana Del Rey at all...I'm an instant fan. Standouts: White Dress, Chemtrails over the Country Club, Let Me Love You Like a Woman, Tulsa Jesus Freak, Wild at Heart, Not All Who Wander Are Lost, Yosemite, Breaking Up Slowly, Dance Till We Die, For Free. I love the whole album. 4/5

Picked up a lot more on this listen than before - NFR is still her best but this is fantastic. We'll look back in 20 years at LDR's body of work and feel lucky we had her

4th August 2023 Listened days late, still catching up. Loved this, ephemeral songwriting with wispy and gutsy singing from Lana. You can tell she’d been listening to Joni, not just by the cover at the end.

I really liked this album. I think the production is fantastic. Really gave me some great creative ideas. I mean it's a more intimate, songwriter-focused, version of Norman Fucking Rockwell which I also loved. I just think everything about it is silky smooth and so polished and really understated in this nice way, takes risks where you want it. Not my favorite songwriter or artist but plenty of things on the sonic level that gave me ideas, to aspire to. 4/5

Nice album; quite slow and therefore might get boring at times, but i have a weak spot for her (who hasn´t? ;) ) so still good marks

Lana del Rey is fantastic, this album just a bit too flat.

This was maybe a dangerous album for listening to while driving down the interstate. The languid and ethereal feel nearly lulled me to sleep at the wheel. However, it was pretty and there were some lovely moments of music and lyrics.

Relaxing

Mais uma forma de confirmar o poder encantador da voz dela. Envolvente sem fazer muito esforço.

I'm a little torn on this ranking. I definitely this its worthwhile to include a Lana Del Rey album on this list, but I'm not sure if this one is the best selection, and I think more than one is probably overkill. It would be between this and "Norman Fucking Rockwell" (no idea if that is also included on this list). Overall pretty good, if low-key, album. White Dress is a really good song, and is emblematic of one of several Lana Del Rey vocal style that does a good job setting up the album.

Pure genius!

I’m a big Lana Del Rey fan. This isn’t her best work, but it’s still very good. The first few songs of this album are incredible, but I felt it lost steam as it went on. Best tracks: White Dress, Chemtrails Over The Country Club, Tulsa Jesus Freak, Let Me Love You Like A Woman Worst track: For Free

la première et la dernière chanson 🥰

She's got a great voice

2021. Not in my edition of the book! 4 stars. Quality songs laced with longing and melancholy, lyrics on point and a gorgeous voice. The only thing missing are standout tunes. Not her best album, but worth a listen.

This was interesting. Pretty gutsy for a huge pop star to release something so stripped down. I’ll round up to a 4.

I love Lana Del Rey. I question why this album was chosen for the list and not one of her earlier albums, but I'm not complaining - it's a great album. I feel like Lana is really channeling Joni Mitchell throughout this this one and this is of course signaled by the Joni cover at the end - the sadness, the folksiness, the songwriting style, the alternating sweetness and grittiness. She edges more into folk with this album. I know she's not for everyone but I think she's a massive talent and this is a very solid album. 4/5

Another superb offering from LDR who really is something special. The opening tracks are mesmerising and the overall style and mood continues to enthral. And this isn’t even her best album.

Subdued, understated and lovely. Thoughtful storytelling with personal lyrics. White dress, told Jesus freak, Dark but just a game

Rating: 8/10 Best songs: White dress, Chemtrails over the country club, Breaking up slowly

(Precursor, Jan 11) I've enjoyed Ultraviolence & Lust for Life enough to call myself a Lana Del Rey fan, but I haven't really touched this one. Will listen tomorrow, but not before putting on some Norman Fucking Rockwell HL: "White Dress", "Wild at Heart", "Not All Those Who Wander", "Yosemite", "For Free" Okay, well the parallels to how recent albums Folklore & Evermore (Swift), and Solar Power (Lorde) sound are there, thanks to Bleachers Antonoff. I think the folksy, organic sound suits Del Rey just fine, though it is a little funny the editors included this along with Evermore instead of Rockwell & Folklore. It doesn't sprawl in length like her past releases Rockwell & Lust for Life. It's got an unexpected Weyes Blood at the end (I just listened to And in the Darkness, Hearts Aglow two days ago). The title track is her throwing a bone to those preferring her earlier music, even though Chemtrails isn't so much a radical redesign as a palette swap. Trying to assess this album in a vacuum, ignoring her other releases, it's a pretty strong, piano-driven pop record, & the dips into Laurel Canyon folk are welcome. There's a moment in Dance Till We Die that reminds me of maybe the best Antonoff collab album, "Daddy's Home" by St. Vincent. But she's already in the book, and I'm glad Lana Del Rey has some representation at least.

Yndisleg plata. Mjög mikill kúra í sófanum undir teppi fílingur.

Caught me a little off for a Lana album, but I like it.

Surprised me, confounded my (rather low) expectations

I still love you Lana Del Rey

A very pleasant listen. From memory, on Lana's earlier albums she had a couple of vocal tics or flourishes that rubbed me the wrong way, but there's nothing like that here, which is good. Fave track - "White Dress" is probably the stand out - did it get used in a soundtrack somewhere? I also enjoyed "Not All Who Wander Are Lost"....

Huh. After the first two songs, I was feeling pretty down on the album. (My daughter checked out, too, so she blasted Neutral Milk Hotel to cleanse the palette.) But after dropping my daughter off at school, I put the album back on and found that I liked the third song. And then the next one. And the next. And slowly but surely, this album won me over. So much so that I started listening to it all over again, and it's just a solid album through and through. Great lyrics, hooks, harmonies, production. Right on, LDR! Giving it 4 stars now but it could grow into a five. Also, I enjoyed the Joni cover, but damn if that Weyes Blood person doesn't sound EXACTLY like her. I had to look her up to see if I wasn't being trolled, that maybe LDR snuck Joni on there under a pseudonym.

While there are many reasons I miss my friend Keith, today I want to talk about this album with him. I didn’t get her in 2019. Keith loved Lana Del Rey and I can literally see his eyes shining speaking about her. She’s lovely and I just loved listening to this album.

Yndishlustun

Listened Before? N This was my first exposure to Lana Del Ray. I have to say, it was a pleasant surprise! At first, I thought I wasn't going to like it as it felt monotonous and slow... but then I started reading the lyrics along with the music, and WOW. Lyrically this album shines. The themes and stories are amazing. I loved it and will be listening to it again. Added to Library? Y Songs added to playlist: Chemtrails Over The Country Club

Pretty good, but not as good as NFR

Kind of loved this, the right mood for now, but think can be something that could get too much in excess

I can really appreciate LDR, I just can't decide if I like her music. Objectively, she's a great singer/artist with a unique sound. The whole album was interesting to me, and I enjoyed it in that sense. But, I don't know if I "liked" it. I'm in a weird space with this one. Still - high marks as I do believe the album is deserving of being on the list. It's definitely a must-hear.

never listened to a full lana album before. Pretty good

Americana. No soy muy fan del tipo de música pero canta tan bien... Un 4.

As I drift in and out of consciousness, with Lana del Ray's sweet and sultry voice weaving a tapestry of love and regret in my peaceful mind, I find myself wondering, "she doesn't believe in the chemtrails conspiracy, does she?"

Easy to listen to. Good for when working or relaxing. Folk, similar to Taylor more folk songs but a little more wordy. Sort airy voice like Billly Elish (a bit like heather nova).

Melancholisch entspannte Musik

Has the patented Lana Del Rey sleazy hollywood magic along with some seriously strong melody and song writing. A real high point for Lana, though I really enjoyed her earlier albums. The whole album is consistently good but the first five tracks are notably strong.

Slow, indie. Soft vocals. Romantic and melancholic, but with modern influences and themes. Sad but sympathetic. Good production and sound quality. Favourite song: Chemtrails over the Country Club.

Such a unique style, feels like something from the past. Easy to relax to, really have to listen to appreciate - not upbeat.

Some gorgeous songs on this album, and some really cool lyrical themes.

There are some university good songs on here

Great voice, not all the songs are for me, but some are really good.

I kinda grew tired of LDR years ago, but this album had a lot of tracks I enjoyed

I like the way she switches from an airy voice to a deeper voice. She's written some great songs, with great personal lyrics over the years but an entire album, so sparsely produced, without synth pop hooks is a bit much, but that could be said of many folk artists. It's interesting that her producer and co-writer (of very song) Jack Antonoff, has done the same thing with Taylor Swift, Lorde, Florence and The Machine and others. Between a 3 and a 4 to me.

Would have never listened to this album if it wasn’t recommended. When I saw it was my first album I almost gave up and passed it up. I’m glad I didn’t, this album is amazing! She’s got such a beautiful voice and this record was different than I expected in a refreshing way!

Prachtig wel. Dit ga ik nog wel eens luisteren. Titel van album is ook prachtig. Die juxtapositie is geweldig. Ik zou precies een dissect willen hiervan.

Lana baby...prachtige stem, prachtig album

I've never thought I'm going to not only unironically listen to Lana del Rey, but also praise it and play her on repeat almost every day. Lana del Rey put her vocal skills to the limits. Some of the songs on this record feel almost otherworldly. So delicate, so intimate. Unfortunately, further into the album it gets a bit repetitive. Highlights: White Dress, Chemtrails Over The Country Club, Breaking Up Slowly

not her best album but definitely good

Love Lana! This isn't my favorite of her albums, but I love the Lana vibe it has.

Never thought sad girl pop would be so good.

Lana has a great voice. The lyrics kind of remind me of Paul Simon's style of storytelling. Cool album!

There's a few great moments on this, I do love the title track, good work all round.

não é muito meu estilo mas uma voz muito agradável

Is great, very melodramatic

I'm a sucker for some good non-electronic piano in my music, so the first song pulled me in and set the mood for the album. Soft, gentle, sweet, this was a joy to listen to. Perhaps not something that you have to listen to before you die, but something that you won't regret listening to at least once.

Great sound. Not sure why this is not higher on her popular albums.

dark, night time headphones or rainy sunday album

Really liked this. Very soothing and melodic. I didn't realize this was such a recent album. I prefer it to her previous album.

Hmmmmm okay? Welp, I’m a douche bag this is actually really good. Lana has an amazing voice, kind already knew that but it’s the first time I actually seriously listened to her, like really listened. She has a lot going on lyrically some of it’s cringe, some of it’s weird, some of it’s really confessional but overall she’s a pretty good songwriter. Musically it’s really sparse and allows her vocals to take over the mix. Surprisingly good one of the better albums of 2021 I must say

I was surprised by this album. Tender, melodic & moody.

Love the mood of this album. Lana has such a great voice.

I have got into Lana Del Ray recently, she borders on ethereal and some may see her style here as repetitive, but I would argue that the words are the thing here. A searing indictment of the hypocrisy of Americana that I think is in line with David Lynch's world view. Love "Not All Who Wander Are Lost" "Yosemite" The Joni Mitchell Cover "For Free" some interesting other songs here. Glad we are update to this year, as this tome must change regularly! (Does this mean we are now on more than 1001 Albums? I am early in on 157 at the moment! Absolutely love this game!

Knew nothing about Lana other than her name. A little suspicious of something so new. Super enjoyable listen! I love how low key everything is. The lyrics are allowed to shine. Will definitely listen to again.

This (apart from the title track) seemed a lesser effort. But with each play the subtlety of the writing and production stand out more. And on the last track she's trailing a future as the Gen Z Joni Mitchell.

loved it!!!

I enjoyed this album. Really like the drawl and the haunting tones in her singing voice.

Lite smörig men jag gillade det

Haunting voice.

You know what it’s not bad. Not bad to listen to

Lidt meget med det samme tempo et helt album, også selvom det lyder vældig godt. Lille 3

Meget dreamy, høj standard. Håber ikke det her er det eneste LDR album på listen, for det er ikke det bedste.

Such a fragile voice

This is pleasant, in a samey kind of way. If there was a bit more variety in this I think it would get 4 stars easily, as it is it has to be a high 3. It’s nice enough.

Lana can sing and music sometimes good but some songs are dreary

Well, well. It's not every day that I get an album from the 2020s, is it? Why is this on the list? Like, this album specifically. I'm not questioning the presence of Lana Del Rey on this list. She is more than popular enough to warrant being here. But, like, there are quite a few albums of hers that I would think to include before Chemtrails Over the Country Club. Granted, I'm not exactly an expert on Lana Del Rey's discography considering the fact that this is the first album of hers I've ever listened to, but I know enough about it to say that an album like Ultraviolence or Norman Fucking Rockwell! would make more sense being here given the stronger legacies of those albums. Is it because this was her most recent album at the time of the last update to the 1001 Albums book? Is it because of Joni Mitchell cover at the end of the album? It's probably because of the Joni Mitchell cover at the end of the album. But, let's move past all of that. How do I feel about my first Lana Del Rey album? I'm not huge on it. I didn't hate this, obviously. There are things I can appreciate, but the experience at large didn't speak to me. I'm not really a fan of Lana's voice, at least not on this album. I'm fine with softer vocals, but this album veers a bit too much into breathy territory for my preferences. The production is solid, but the songs do tend to feel pretty samey, at least to me. The writing is good, I'll say that. There are some decent usages of imagery and some nice lyrical themes on the songs. I get the appeal of this, and I could absolutely see an improved version of this style working on a different album, but I don't think Chemtrails Over the Country Club is the album that's going to win me over on Lana. Not bad, but not my thing personally. 3/5.

LDR, or 'Lana Del Rey' as the cool kids are calling her, has some lovely floaty, folksy songs. Her excessively airy voice is hardly annoying at all. If my wife put this album on in the car, I would not turn it off.

Decent listen.

- Major props for the For Free cover

I really like her voice but the songs can get quite repetitive and after 45 minutes its starts to feel quite so very sluggish. overall a decent album but I might have to take it in smaller doses and listen to songs individually

I've not listened to LDR before and quite enjoyed it. Life and Eloise interrupted, so I only played a few tracks. May check out her stuff again some time.

Sadly far from my fave Lana, but still Lana

I have no clue why I enjoy Lana’s music but I do

its low tempo sad stuff, but it works. she has her way.

This is an interesting inclusion for the list. It's been about 5 years now, so I have the perspective of some time that a lot of the top reviews didn't. I can say that none of these songs are in Lana's top streams on Spotify, in case that surprises you. This album is fine, but I didn't hear anything extraordinary on my listen. I can hear that the sound is a bit of a departure for LDR, so I give her credit there. I think the vibe was probably appropriate for the pandemic (or just barely post-pandemic) world at the time and that might have skewed some of the critical reviews. In any case, I don't feel like I'll be revisiting this one often (ever).

Well... it's beautiful, but my goodness, absolutely every song sounds the same! It's like I'm listening to the same song for 45 minutes.

Hm. Sehr gute

This is as mediocre as they come

Not a lot of variety, but it is nice. I would have chosen Born To Die over this album. She has a very nice voice. Sometimes they went a bit hard on the compression though. My favourites were Dark But Just A Game and For Free.

Her voice isn’t bad I guess, but this was just boring.

I haven’t listened to LDR since she released her first album. I really enjoyed this album. I really think most of her music sounds similar but there seemed to be some brighter moments on this album. She seemed to be a better place and the album is enjoyable. Not sure if I needed to hear this before I died. But it’s better than some I have heard already.

Lana’s voice is so beautiful, almost haunting. I enjoyed this album, I don’t think it’s her best, but it’s still good. The vape at the start of track 1 is iconic tbf. 3.9/5.0 Best Song: Dance Till We Die

I'm no expert but I'm fairly sure even Lana fans consider this a middling album.

Pleasant pop but that's it.

After much thinking i do not understand this woman and i love that about her

First Lana Del Ray album I’ve listened to in full Got given the vinyl of this a few years back. Wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy it but it’s nice. Very moody, her voice is lovely and the songwriting is decent. Haven’t listened to any of her albums since but I’m sure I will at some point. Favourite track: White Dress

The female version of Mark Kozelek

This was my first time listening to Lana del ray and honestly I enjoyed the landscape she created with her lyrics. Each song had a familiar structure to them with similar subject matter but songs like white dress and dance till we die still hold a place in my mind after listening. I think the main takeaway I got from this album is the production which I really enjoy, the acoustic stylings really keep me engaged and I think every song on here has interesting backing to go with Lana's lyrics. Fav tracks: white dress, chemtrails over the country, wild at heart, dark but just a game, and dance till we die

Wasn't bad, but needed a bit more edge.

No my favorite of hers but still pretty good.

3/5 fav: Tulsa Jesus Freak

Big bunch of meh

Quite good.

She is really good at producing this one specific type of style and song. If you're in to that sound, this album is probably a gold mine. I found it a bit repetitive and wish the instrumentation was featured a little more prominently.

Me gustaron más los dos primeros sobre todo, pero es agradable de escuchar y me he guardado la canción que da título al disco. Este 2026 parece que hay uno nuevo de ella.

She has a good voice. I wouldn’t seek this out again to listen to it though as it is not really my preferred style of music.

Does she live up to the hype? No but she still is a solid artist

Fine. Kinda reminded me of recent Taylor Swift all sad and melancholy like. Her voice is solid just doesn’t do anything for me, same with the songwriting.

I've heard of Lana Del Rey for a while but never listened to her work before. if this is her best, it's kinda boring. vocals were bland & borderline irritating. music had decent arrangements but still an overall boring listen. 2.5 stars

Overproduced Joni Mitchell wannabe. What a shame. She has a decent voice. At least she picked the right artist to be inspired by. Pleasant enough, but the production gets in the way of the music. Even though it sounds stripped down, the overtones are annoying and frustrating to me. Is that auto tune I hear? 2.5 stars

I understand why she's the queen of tumblr some greats songs, some truly boring

7/10. I love Lana, and this is a really good album. It feels soft, cinematic, and very her. There’s a calmness to it that works really well, even if it doesn’t hit as hard as some of her other projects.

and what if this was my favorite Lana album. what then

fun but wouldnt be my choice of an LDR album

I like how it doesnt sound as over polished as other pop but yeah i struggle with so many samey ballads

It's not bad. But listening to the whole album in one sitting is a little depressing. Plus, it's not raining or cloudy, so it's not a good day to listen to this :-( Hence the 3 stars. If this had happened on another day, it would easily have been a 4

Her most honest album, a classic. Favourite track: Dance Till We Die

Not bad

I've never really been a Lana fan. Even at the height of her popularity, I just never understood it. I find it pretty but boring and very one-note. Maybe I'm not melancholic enough to really get it. That being said, these were decent, consistent, albeit boring songs. But I didn't find them antagonistic. So, for the girlies, I will give her a solid 3.

not my thing but she is good

It's good but the whole album sounds the same

Fine album that I'd probably appreciate more if I paid attention to it. As background music, it was fine but forgettable.

Meh. Good voice. Fine enough music. Not my thing though.

Perfect rainy day type of album. Her voice man why does it lower my heart rate fr 😮‍💨😮‍💨

Too breathy

Alright, I guess. Solid record, but feels a bit samey after a while. Feel like this wouldn't be on the list if it wasn't a new record in an era with a shortage of great records that see big audiences.

This is a good album. I appreciate her lyricism and songwriting, which is a bit offbeat and unexpected. But the songs are a bit monotonic — all airy and with the same reverb. It’s a sonic theme taken a little too far. A 3.

Chemtrails Over The Country Club is a pretty good album. This is the most recent album to come out on this whole list and it shows here. Everything about the production does feel very modern. I felt that the music was actually quite nice, very slow moving and easy listening. However, the one issue this album suffers from is that it plays it very safe. There isn't really much that sticks out here and leads nearly every song to end up sounding the same which causes the album to drag along even at 45 minutes. This album isn't bad at all and i can 100% see why Lana Del Rey is so popular but it does start to drag which brings my enjoyment down. Best Song: Breaking Up Slowly Worst Song: Dance Till We Die

I enjoyed it but wasn't super excited over it.

I do like Lana Del Ray and I think the opening two tracks are great - she can write a really great chorus. But then the album sort of peters out and gets a bit meh.

The first couple of songs had me skeptical and mildly annoyed, but after that, Lana del Ray and producer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jack Antonoff pulled it together and really delivered, with a fantastic cast of supporting musicians, and great arrangements. 3.5/5

The first song really question whether or not this was even gonna get three stars. Luckily the rest of the songs are much better. I really find breathy whispering , singing voice, extremely irritating.

Nice Pleasant But mediocre

6 / 10 - Americana / Singer-Songwriter - sehr gute Produktion, am besten mit Kopfhörern zu hören um alle Instrumente/Harmonien/Ausschmückungen zu hören - Sehr cooler Vibe - "Dark But Just A Game" ist ein Banger, sticht aber als einziger Song wirklich hervor Favs: - Dark But Just A Game

Like it 3/5

Atmospheric pop. I must say I only knew Lana DR superficially but I always loved Blue Jeans and Video Games with their retro sound, great vocals and cinematic atmosphere (the videos helped a lot). OK, I saw a streamed concert once and her live singing was awful which is a pity. Unfortunately, this album disappointed, its all too vanilla for me. It still has a great sound, relying on Lana's voice, but the songs themselves just don't do it for me. Still fine.

Better than Coldplay

Dreamy, ethereal, melancholy. Sad girl with longing and a little weirdness, not unlike Billie Eilish, though Lana may have gotten there first.

Yes, very nice. I love her voice and I'm a big fan of the Norman Rockwell record, not sure how that entered my limited orbit but it is great. This is perhaps limited by the songs, as opposed to the performance. By that I mean the songwriting is not a full bore pop song brilliant, which I think is her forte. A good record regardless, and an enjoyable listen.

I recall when Lana Del Rey first appeared, she copped a lot of flack for not being 'authentic enough', being an industry plant, etc. Most of this was thinly veiled gatekeeping by (mostly male) critics which had a strong undercurrent of sexism. I was aware of a number of her singles and didn't mind what she did. But it wasn't really for me because this is not really for me -- I'm a bit too old, a bit too rock, maybe a bit too male, definitely not American enough -- but that's OK. Not everything has to be for me. Now that she is seven albums into her career, I think we can safely say that Lana Del Rey is not a mere industry puppet. There is a body of work with a consistent world view with its own language, iconography and aesthetic. Maybe that's what initially confounded her critics; Lana Del Rey is obsessed with imagery; she loves the trashy and glizty and what might sit behind it. Combined with her Gen Z detachment and stone-faced irony, I can see how that might read as 'fake', but I really think it is her genuine artistic aesthetic. It's not that different to Tom Waits - does anyone believe he is a alcoholic carny? -- it's an artistic framework, a personal mythology. It's a beautiful, spacious and tasteful music bed that sits unobtrusively under her vocals. This is an easy album to listen to, although I find that it doesn't stick well in my memory. I have listened to it three times through today and could not sing back any of the tracks. It's a good album with a well-defined artistic vision. I find it hard to say that an album this recent is a 'must listen'. Let's give it three stars and see how history treats it over time.

not my favorite of hers but liked

Kinda never misses

It's good, every track is good, lovely moody ethereal sound, but it's all the same. If a picture tells a thousand words, this is a thousand words to describe a picture. Not a story, not a scene, just an picture. It's a beautiful picture with intricate details and textures, but it ain't Norman Fucking Rockwell.

Get past that first song and you hear an amazing voice. Sadder but still a decently Good album

а мені воно шосб не йде

I wish I could see the rationale for including this one instead of like...any of the other excellent LDR albums?

I kind of liked this one but I felt like it was missing something to be truly great. Having heard Lordes 'Melodrama' and Taylor Swifts 'evermore' and liking them both I'm starting to think that I might just enjoy stuff Jack Antonoff produces Standouts White Dress Chemtrails Over The Country Club Wild At Heart 3/5

This was mellow. So…mellow. Her lyrical mastery is without question, which was kind of a surprised considering that it was somewhere between sing-songwriter and country storytelling. Having been an appreciator of some of her other works, this felt like a swift change of direction (maybe quarter life crisis, like Neil Young’s On the Beach). Breaking up Slowly was an example of this. I liked the song Yosemite best, though Wild At Heart was a close contender. I enjoyed listening to this album but often I pair musical needs to mood. If I was having a Sylvia Plath mood, this would be my jam, otherwise I can’t think of any time I would pine to listen to this.

Random thoughts: * I respect choosing Lana Del Rey but I feel like choosing Chemtrails is some recency bias. Basically all these songs sounded like worst versions of the songs on Born To Die. * Do you remember when she debuted on SNL and everyone thought is was maybe a prank? I’m glad to see she’s gained some cred over the years. * there was one song I liked, Dark But Just a Game but the other songs didn’t match her earlier stuff. * I still think Video Games is a great song. * Good artist choice but wrong album.

I'm not familiar with Lana Del Rey's work, except for a couple of her biggest hits. Based on one listen "Chemtrails over the Country Club" is enjoyable, but in places so uneventful that I get a little bored. Is this really the Lana Del Rey album that every one should listen to?

First Lana Del Rey album I’ve listened to. It’s good, but she’s one of the most overrated artists of this generation

This was the first time I listened to Lana Del Rey all the way through. It won't be the last. The album overall was good! It felt a little "one note-ish" at times, but I love the way she sings on some of the songs. It's definitely not for everyone but this is one I can see listening to some of those songs again for sure. Biggest Hit - Chemtrails Over The Country Club Biggest Miss (if I had to choose) - White Dress Hidden Gem - Dark But Just A Game

I was really conflicted over this one. Have never heard any of her songs before and really liked it. At first hear it seems quite generic of its time but there is much to lift it from her contemporaries’ efforts. It was ruined a bit for me by putting a Joni Mitchell song at the end. Not needed, Lana’s songs are great by themselves.

In the summer of 2019 I was erroneously added to a Twitter group chat full of British teenagers eagerly anticipating their GCSE results. It turned out to be a group of misfits who had all bonded over their love for Lana Del Ray. I announced my arrival with the howdoyoudofellowkids.gif, they welcomed me as a new member of their clan, labelled me with the moniker 'Anne' and spent 24 hours asking me about my worldly wisdom and asking me of my opinion on LDR. After that, I left the group and never spoke to them again. I hope you did well in your history GCSE, Rachel.

Nice, but it’s actually hard to listen to an album made up entirely of ballads. Although the aesthetic of the album is interesting, and Lana definitely has something special about her. 5/10

They're all nice songs, but with so little variety this alternative soundtrack to Twilight gets dull quickly

This is some super whiny shit. You realize how much you miss the 90s when Lana Del Rey and Taylor Swift and Beyonce are the feminist voices in popular music now. Tulsa Jesus Freak is better. I like the music better than her voice...and I feel like I need to actually listen more closely to her lyrics. She's like the 2020s version of Fiona Apple. I like the original better but I feel like I need to give this a more in depth listen.

This is what you would expect from Lana Del Rey with a few surprises. I enjoyed this album. I think the second half was better for me than the first, but there were some good moments in the first half as well. The first half mostly sounds like classic Lana, which is fine, however there isn't much variety sonically. The instrumentals sound like Lana instrumentals and she sings in her unique voice, which is in her deeper register and is lush, sultry, velvety, a bit languid, dreamy and hazy and offers a nostalgic feeling. This isn't bad cause her voice is amazing, but for many fans of hers you have heard many songs that sound like this. The song White Dress (a stand out for me) sees her switching between this voice and her breathy, soft falsetto. It offers a nice contrast and sounds amazing. The second half of the album sees her experimenting with new sounds and is a bit more up tempo and I enjoyed her trying new things. Overall, this is a solid album where you get some classic Lana mixed in with some new sounds.

Enjoyed this more than I expected myself to. There's some really nice melodies and good songwriting here. Would like to check out more of hers in the future.

Such a soft album. Lana has a beautiful voice, I didn’t really connect with the songs lyrically but I enjoyed the musicianship.

1. okay, ive always liked lana del rey but never done a deep dive. just a few songs here and there. here we go. Okay this is a bit of a regina spektor tori amos vibe. It's alright. 2. sounds exactly like the last one 3. Yeah she really zeroed in on a specific kind of music and tone and voice, and, um, never really branched out at all. Not that she has to. But some of those earlier songs had so many flourishes, great lyrics, a little more energy i think. Maybe im wrong. These songs just sound the same. 4. Could not differentiate from anything else even if i wanted to. 5. Okay this one's good! It has personality. 6. Okay hell yeah, this one's really good too. 7. This one's good too. Sort of more sentimental, which i like. 8. Okay, back to not very good. Im gonna skip this one. 9. no, not good. Alright im giving up honestly. IM ALLOWED TO BECAUSE IT'S MY TIME THAT I CAN SPEND HOWEVER I WANT.

I've never listened to Lana Del Rey before, her voice is so haunting. On a different day, in a different mood I feel this album could be a 4 or a 2, but after two listens I think it settles on a 3. The songs all sort of sound the same and maybe it's that second listen that soured me a bit.

I thought I might like it and I really tried, but I gave up in the end. Just not my vibe, I didn't get it at all.

The lyrics on the opening track were such a word salad, stuffed into a verse, that I could see it being a SNL skit. It’s on the cusp of being funny for how absurd it is. She’s a talented singer but I find this album very one note. I wish I liked her more and that there was more variety here.

I don't really like it, but it's honestly not as bad as I thought it would be.

I was familiar with this artist from her radio hits, and frankly I was not looking forward to this. However I found a set of song more charming than they had a right to be. The songwriters and producers seemed to have found more interesting things of her to sing and she sings more interestingly. Her delivery is more breathy, nuanced, and dynamic than your typical pop singer and the production serves her style by being unobtrusive and allowing her to stretch out. The songs are minimal and pretty. All that’s to say though that it was only mediocre and not bad.

The epitome of Lana Del ray. I preferred the songs nearer to the beginning and i got pretty bored of the album nearer to the end. I also don't like this romantic attitude around addiction. That being said, definitely one of the better pop (?) albums around.

Not her best work by far. You can tell she was in her weird tradwife christian era here... But idk I didn't dislike this at all and it has very nice qualities and instrumentals.

I'm not entirely sure what I think of this... I know I hated the first song but the rest of it was okay. Sort of made me feel like a basic, attention seeking white girl who's feeling sorry for herself. Didn't really pay much attention to the lyrics but other people seem to praise them. Also hadn't realised how popular this woman is.

The first song sounds like she's learning to whisper for the first time.

I had never heard an album of hers before and music-wise, it was really relaxing, a new experience. And although I enjoyed some songs, I don't think I'll be listening to her other albums any time soon. I'm afraid to say I don't get the vibe.

First listen I barely noticed this as she whispers over the most inoffensive background soft jazzpop imaginable. Decided to give it another go and there were some moments I enjoyed, but you just have to listen really closely for them. I sort of wish she'd come and get me with a bit more conviction. It's better than I initially thought but I could definitely fall asleep to it and not really notice.

This was a solid album. Would listen to songs on the radio but not compelled to buy anything or see live. Three stars

Este disco de Lana del Rey está lleno de muy buenas canciones y esta lista sí me ha transmitido un mismo sentimiento y un viaje de 45 minutos. Lo volveré a escuchar sin duda

21st Century Country girl.

2/23/26. This album journey is a reminder to withhold judgements until I genuinely listen to an artist. This applies to how I felt about Lana Del Rey as I assumed her music was boring and pretentious. It's still not my typical style, but this beat my expectations! Cool arrangements with a mix of acoustic guitars and strings, and she does have a beautiful voice and unique style.
