Reviews (page 14 of 15)
Some bangers. Because is unbeatable and George Harrison's songs are superb.
A pretty disparate collection of tracks, doesn't really hang together well. Its mostly good with some great, but also some not so good.
Old music is old
I'm a monster. Reminds me of the movie yesterday.
In my early twenties I found the "1" greatest hits album amongst their CD collection. For one summer I loved The Beatles and then I never really went back. I enjoyed this album but it hasn't ignighted that love for them again. Obviously the cover art is iconic now. I will await more Beatles albums to see if that love comes back.
It’s mid. Only highlight for me was here comes the sun.
I’m going to carry that weight. Some of the less famous songs are the better ones. Good album overall.
Makes me feel like I'm in AP Art again. If the songs didn't weren't so repetitive and I didn't hate their voices, the instrumentals would be SO GOOD.
Embarrassed to admit that I had no idea that the Beatles wrote a few of the songs I was familiar with. A better listen than I expected.
It’s cool.
Faixa Favorita: I want you (She's so Heavy)
Zuhause, Gerstetten, Deutschland. Gut Gut.
126/1089 Naturally this is a pretty good album, it has no standout bad tracks and even as someone who’s not into the Beatles, it was enjoyable. Here Comes The Sun, Come Together, Because, I Want You and Sun King were my favourites. I quite like the medley and the way it keeps the pace moving in the second half. a high 3 stars for me 69/100
So a friend of mine enjoys the beatles. He told me to go in with an open mind and try and pick out things I like. I liked the ones that weren't pop drivel. Octopuses Garden was fun as one Hammer one. Here Comes the Sun is better done by Richie Havens. Seriously go look up any of the ones he has done far superior to the version on this album. So is Come Together, all the covers of that are better than the one on this album. It's not to say the beatles suck. Historically speaking they moved music forward far more than the sum of their discography. I don't know why they were as popular to this day, but I do appreciate what they did for music. Also John Lennon is still a pretentious wanker. George and Ringo are great and Paul is alright.
Okay.
The ultimate example to me of a bad good album. There's nothing wrong with it, but nothing pulled me in. I get why that is, I know that I hear nothing new because everyone has been copying the Beatles and this album. That doesn't suddenly make it good for me though. I would recommend this, I personally got bored about halfway through though.
6/10 - probably the best Beatles album I've heard to date, still overrated if you ask me but I can see the appeal if you grew up to this
Amazing songs that are surrounded by complete garbage circus tunes
Mixture of nonsense, forgettable tracks and a couple of decent ones
I love the cover, iconic
6/10 - Maxwell Silver Hammer is tripe.
Honestly I expected more from this album. The Beatles are very good, I won't say they aren't, but most of the album was completely average. Listenable, but very much background music to me.
not the best beatles
Either the most profound, groundbreaking song you’ve ever heard or nonsensical British children’s music
I think I've made it clear to my friend how indifferently I feel about The Beatles on many occasions (just to be that guy) and having to relisten to this album again invoked exactly the same feelings. Yeah, I get that they were very influential, and interesting, and ground-breaking - I just don't really like the music that much. It's very different to the kind of music I normally listen to as well. This relisten just confirms what I already thought after the initial skim-through, the first full listen, the second full listen, and now this third listen - I'm not a beatles guy. I'm going to keep the 3/5 rating despite feeling like it could be moved down to a 2.5/5, since it's still done well enough, I guess.
I understand the cultural significance of The Beatles, but they're just not for me.
3.5 (4 side) I'm giving it a 4 mostly because it's one of the most known albums of all times. I greatly prefer Rubber Soul which is a controversial pick as best Beatles album. I think Abbey Road general captures that spot due to 1.) A much better title - Rubber Soul (a nod at sole and something blah blah) 2.) A much better cover - one of the most iconic photos in history. I dislike the Rubber Soul cover shot from underneath and the bubble font 3.) timing - Beatles were at their peak Still almost everyone would agree great album
This has some fantastic songs. It has a bit of rubbish. Its The Beatles.
i don’t get it i like Here Comes The Sun (basic answer)
As someone who's not a fan of the Beatles, this was not bad.
Classic but not hugely loved by me.
Not a Beatles fan but I get it
It’s a good album but I wished it would have come to me later in my journey of listening to albums. I was trying to think of a good setting to listen to the full album front to back and work was not it.
Not their best, yet good.
Not my favorite from them. 3 stars.
Honestly, it sucks. The album is overhyped for what it was (band’s last album), but when separated from the context, it sucks.
Definitely starts strong, but very quickly starts to drag
Obviously wish that I’d have written a few of these songs - some beautiful stuff, but, I’m just not that arsed. I did really like Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight & I Want You.
It's a good album, but not their best. I think it was revolutionary for the time maybe?
It's rare to have an album that is no-skip, wall-to-wall bangers, and the Beatles didn't manage it on any of theirs either. On the plus side: Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun - all excellent, the latter showcasing why George was the best Beatle; I will not be taking questions on that. In the debit column: Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Octopus's Garden - fuck me. They're SO bad, they would sink many long players and take a lot of goodwill with them. Others of note: I rather liked Carry That Weight, it's what You Never Give Me Your Money should have been. Oh! Darling is just the right side of overwrought. I Want You (She's So Heavy) - should be called I Want You (To Hurry Up and Get to the End of the Song), seven minutes is about four too long. The rest get a shrug from me. I will veer towards a 3 because of what's in the plus column.
First part was really enjoyable, the last 3/4th was not my taste.
I have never been a fan of the Beatles, and honestly this album confirms my initial impressions. Apparently, according to Rob Ager at least, this work inspired Stanley Kubrick when he directed the Shining. I hope for the Maestro’s sake that the bulk of the inspiration came from Throne of Blood (as his notes suggest) and not from this album. « Here comes the Sun » stood out, only because I distinctly remember waking up to this song after falling asleep watching a crackpot theory about The Shining Overall, the style and music is too languid
I just don’t understand why they let Paul participate.
3,5 ❤️❤️❤️ : Oh! Darling You Never Give Me Your Money 😊😊😊 : Something She Came In Through The Bathroom Window Carry That Way 👍👍👍 : Come Together I Want You (She's So Heavy) Here Comes The Sun Mean Mr Mustard Polythene Pam Golden Slumbers 😶😶😶 : Maxwell's Silver Hammer Octopus's Garden Because Sun King The End Her Majesty ☹️☹️☹️ :
old vibes "Oh! Darling" is a rly good song
I know this is one THEE albums. But I think there’s only two or maybe three songs worth listening to.
I know this album is heralded as one of the best of all time, but I was pretty underwhelmed. Come Together and Here Comes the Sun the two highlights
Classic Beatles album. Some good keepers. Nice listen
Not a Beatles fan :(. Decent album though
I liked it but not for me.Atleast not in my current stage of life.
Imagine explaining why this album is *like this* to someone who doesn't already know the Beatles. The first two songs are such classics, the rest is a mess.
3-4 really good songs and the rest are very meh to me. I have heard the Beatles before (everyone in my age and older has) but its not something I listen to a lot. While I understand the contribution to music the Beatles have don't I feel like others have improved on it.
High quality pop but with fun shifts throughout, enjoyable but I can’t see myself returning frequently to listen. Call me a cynic but I would be really interested to know what global score this would get if it WASN’T Abbey Road and the Beatles. At time of writing from memory this is one of if not the highest scoring album globally? It’s great iconic pop but the genre has its limitations.
Such a well crafted album which just seems to work and not a song out of place. Any divergence is welcome and connected and its just plucks along at a jolly pace captivating you at every turn. Slightly whacky interjections here and there but they work. That said while I would not disagree with people this is a top tier album and for the time even more so. However my reviews are from my perspective not as a critic. On that point for my taste this is average generic music (albiet very good music).
Its barely worth writing a description of the album because it's Abby Road. All I say is that I think the Beatles made some great songs but not great albums. There are some absolutely iconic singles on this album but then you have some crap like "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" or "Mean Mr Mustard". That said, it's Abby Road so the album's impact is obvious.
Probably The Beatles best work, but it is still The Beatles...overrated as hell. The album really tanked after "Here Comes the Sun". Favorite songs: "Oh! Darling", Come Together, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Octopus's Garden, Here Comes the Sun Least favorite songs: Because, I Want You (She's So Heavy) 3/5
My first time listening to Abbey Road in full and it quite clearly has some of the all time great Beatles songs. I particularly liked Side B, the medley side, the quick short songs keep it fresh and interesting and most of which I had not heard before. Oh Darling and She’s So Heavy are favourites. I really wish Octopus Garden, and Ringo in general would get in the bin…
It's The Beatles, but probably my least favorite album by them.
Not their best work
I think the legacy looms larger than some of the music.
Indie vibes. Not really in love with the album and would just listen to it like 2-3 times just for the vibe
Some of their best songs, alongside some of their worst
listening to the first two tracks you get the feeling that they’ve still got it and this is something really worthwhile… then Maxwell’s Silver Hammer comes on. Really love the harmonies on Because, and I guess some of the vocal performances on side-2 are pretty outstanding. there are some well placed unconventional sounds throughout. i’m not real big on how the album closes, but like it better as a whole as opposed to by song basis.
Looking forward to my public execution after giving this a 3 but giving Sweet Baby James a 5. The stretch from Golden Slumbers to The End is actually perfect though.
3.5
It's fine. I'm either too young to 'get it' or spoiled by knowing that better things exist.
*Fave song - Here Comes the Sun (followed by Oh! Darling and Golden Slumbers) *Some great songs here. The medley in the second half is cool too. *Definitely some misses here though. *Not album I would listen to in full again. RATING - 6.5/10
yeah
No wonder they broke up, half the band wants to write wiggles level Oompa doompa doo music for toddlers. Some cool synth stuff, the dark spacey grooves on the A side are really good, Something is a gem, and lots of impressive studio wizardry, but too many annoying novelty songs and clever but empty songwriting moves.
Some of my favorite studio engineering of any Beatles album. Maybe it’s just the benefit of hindsight but I feel like you can hear the end is near for the band. A handful of great tracks stand out with a a bunch of filler in between. Favorite tracks: Oh! Darling, I Want You (She’s So Heavy), Because
This is probably blasphemous, but I found this a really messy album. There are some really good poppy, some less interesting experimental stuff (might've been interesting in the 60s, but I've heard better since), and also some boring intermezzos. If this weren't the Beatles, I'd give it 2/5. But it is the Beatles, so it's a 3
As A Gen Z’er, I approach this album differently than someone who had heard this when it came out. The musicality in this album is undeniable, and from what I’ve gathered it was very influential at the time for combining lots of new styles and techniques et cetera. But the year is 2025, and many bands since have been influenced by this sound. Hence why it’s hard for me to be wowed by this album as it is. It’s not bad by any means, but it doesn’t stand out in the current landscape of music. I would not replay this, but I respect this album and The Beatles for what they’ve done for the music industry.
Not their best album
Have never been a big fan of the Beatles. That said, I wanted to give this album a fair listen. I get some of the hype - Come Together and Here Comes the Sun are solid classics. Sadly, this album also has all of the other songs - any of which would cause me to listen to something else.
Some classic tunes, but far too many that are not. And then there's Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
A few songs are already on my favorites list, but I had to skip some.
Not really for me. I can see what people get out of this album.
Lots of well-known hits here, obviously. In fact, I skipped those because I've heard them a million times (which IS still a credit to the Beatles and to this album, regardless). The other stuff that was new to me was mostly meh. 'I Want You' felt unnecessarily long (even despite my skipping a third of this album), and other than 'Here Comes the Sun' (which, again, was skipped for familiarity), nothing on the back side grabbed me. Like their last album, it's hard to be completely impartial when some of these songs have been sewn into the very fabric of Western existence. On the other hand, it's inevitable that their lesser-known tracks are unfairly held to that same standard. So, I'm just going to punt again here.
Vaikea arvioitava. Parhaat hetket on tosi hyviä, mutta joidenkin biisien happy-go-lucky -sävy vesittää ja lähes ärsyttää. Sama fiilis pätee laajemminkin Piitlesin tuotantoon. Ois voinut heittää useita biisejä mäkeen jos minulta kysytään. Vahvaa vatulointia kahden ja kolmen tähden välillä.
There are better albums from them - but ok
I don't like the Beatles. Never have.
There are a few good songs on this one but over all I was unimpressed. Least favorite album by them
There's some fantastic stuff here. McCartney absolutely shines on 'Oh! Darling' with some really lovely vocals. The massive hits 'Come Together' and 'Here Comes The Sun' are brilliant and have stood the test of time and will do so for the rest of time. Even 'Octopus's Garden' which is pretty kooky is a really good, catchy track by Ringo. Most of the other tracks I find slightly dull or they go on for a bit too long. Overall I would say that my feeling towards this album is "unimpressed". There's not much on this album that interests me. This is the highest rated album on the 1001 Albums Generator site. I personally don't think it's THAT good. It's not even the best album by The Beatles. Give me 'Rubber Soul' any day of the week (I've only had three Beatles albums so far).
A classic.
When I think of the Beatles this kind of sound is usually what comes to mind. There are one or two songs on this album that i enjoy, Here Comes the Sun being one of them. But I’ve never been a fan of the work from this album. It’s not particularly interesting or moving to me. I’ve become a fan of their earlier work, it felt more passionate and unique.
it's an okay album, i guess.. ;)
This is the one with "Here Comes The Sun" which is the best Beatles song. Supposedly, the mixing of this song was the very last time all 4 Beatles were in the studio together. They left on a high note.
Listening to this while I work. There are plenty of songs from the Beatles I enjoy. For some reason this album isn't hitting today. Not sure if I need the right mood for it or not. Here comes the sun will always hit though. Same with Octopus' Garden. Golden Slumbers is ethereal. I really liked the Jennifer Hudson cover of this song as well.
Alkaa mainiosti, sitten meno muuttuu kovin epämielenkiintoiseksi.
There are a few songs on here that I actually quite like! Caught me in a good mood!
So many memories started ok
It’s pretty good, not as earth shatteringly good as I expected but I don’t think the Beatles do a lot for me from what I’ve heard of their catalogue. Hoping my opinion on this will change after a couple of re listens. 3/5
I liked some songs I haven't listened to before. Songs that I've been exposed to already I was a little sick of it.
I WANT YOUUUUU
I...just don't love this band.
i acknowledge their impact on modern music but i’ve never “liked” liked their music. like it’s really good but i’m not gonna revisit this album. i actually think it’s really fucking boring even though i can understand why it’s widely praised
Excellent classic Beatles!
I don't know why, but I don't like this album nearly as much as Let It Be. It's good, but not their best. Here Comes The Sun is fantastic, but the rest of the album doesn't live up to that high.
Not again. Come Together - best song. Maxwell's Silver hammer is way too cheery for a murder song. Oh look, a song about being under the sea in an octopus garden. What is this Disney Club stuff... 'I want you so baaaad'....for 7 minutes?! Skip. Here Comes the Sun - fantastic. Mean Mr Mustard - Wombles. Carry that weight - great song The End - I like that one and now I know where the Mastodon's 'The Hunter' lyric comes from 'The love you take is equal to the love you make'
good but not as good as the other one
Look, pretty good, but all of the gushing is over done. It's not the greatest album ever made. Maybe one of the greatest when it came out, but it's full of holes. Maybe I'm just not a Beatles fan, but if I never heard this again I wouldn't think twice. Three stars.
I've never been much of a Beatles fan so there's no way it could have lived up to the hype for me, but I did vibe with the first six or so tracks
My first time tackling this album. The Beatles have been a massive blind spot in my music listening history. Overall I found myself enjoying this and can easily see why this is considered a classic by so many. For me I found side-one more enthralling, with side-two still being very good, but not as punchy as the first. I'm excited to give this one more listens.
Fine. I don't like the Beatles much. Not enough soul for my taste
I know why this is a good album but didn’t do much for me
Turns out I had hated Come Together for so long without realizing it's a Beatles song.
The Beatles continue to leave me woefully unimpressed. The music is nice, but "nice" is the highest compliment I can give it. It's enjoyable and has a couple of bangers, but it doesn't stand out. And this album is not something that I'd be particularly excited to relisten. 7/10
Solid
I get the influence the beatles had on modern music but it's just not for me.
They really abbeyed that road huh. Come Together is like the most overrated Beatles song I swear to god we did a 60’s music assignment and every group but mine played that stupid song holy crap. Tho back to the album, it’s a Beatles album so what more can you say, it’s an album which you can smile to but I’m def listening to it 55 years too late haha Fav song: here comes the Sun
It's the Beatles so like it's not gonna be that bad. Overall I like Revolver better considering this one feels a bit disjointed. The last run with all the songs transitioning into one is pretty cool.
The album's first half is solid, with great tracks like Something, Octopus's Garden, and Here Comes the Sun. However, the second half feels fairly repetitive and wacky. This album is very Beatlescore which appeals to some but not quite for me.
Classic, not bad. but not great IMO
I've never listened to this in its entirety before, the reason being that I'm not a huge Beatles fan. Obviously, I appreciate their importance. After Rubber Soul and this one, oh plus a couple of the solo ones, my overall view is still that George wrote the best songs, John was an intense ball of creativity, and Macca was (and is) quite cheery and a bit twee (goodness knows what Ringo was on by this point.) It's quite a disjointed album; I found myself puzzling over it, and dare I say, it's not hugely surprising that they broke up soon after this. Reading the Wiki description of its recording, afterwards, made total sense. I liked the beginning of the side 2 medley, combining humour with some interesting constructions and progressions, but Macca ended up dominating, which I'm afraid isn't a good thing in my view. Even though I love Here Comes The Sun, with it's super-cute mix of synth and guitar, it wasn't enough to round up to four overall. I preferred Rubber Soul.
Beatles r boring
- classic album! obviously octopuses garden is the best although i have not heard any of the other songs
god, what an insufferable record. i can appreciate that the beatles are expanding their sound palate in this one & sure, i know historically speaking this record was some kind of sound engineering marvel or whatever. it does sound particular & the songwriting isn't entirely boring. however! there is much more interesting music made by their contemporaries. i will also admit this does not sound like it was written in 69 (nice) but like. i've also been saying that about a lot of other records on this list... so maybe i just have a rly warped, ignorant idea of what the 60s sounded like musically! whatever. 3 stars. fuck off.
Come together - 5 (svinbra) Something - 4 (en riktig låt, melodisk och fin) Maxwell´s silver hammer - 2 (låter som intro till ett barnprogram) Oh, Darling - 2 (som en av de sämre låtarna i musikalen Grease) Octopus´s Garden - 2 (detta är trams) I want you - 3 (lite för "ryckig" och lång) Here comes the sun - 5 (magisk) Because - 3 (låter mest som ett långt intro till en låt) You never give me your money - 3 (här börjar tydligen nåt jävla medley - och kommande låtar är korta) Sun King - 4 Mean Mr Mustard - 3 Polythene Pam - 3 She came in through the bathroom window - 3 Golden slumber - 4 (men viktas lägre, pga 1:31) Carry that weight - 4 (samma som innan, trots att släppa dessa demo-versioner) The end - 4 Her Majesty - 1 Snitt 3,2. Så betyg 3. Jaha. Beatles schmeatles.
People really love the Beatles. I think they are ok. some of my favorite musicians also love the Beatles. but not me!
Not as good as I thought it was going to be. There's some good stuff on here. Come Together and Here Comes The Sun are obvious stand ours. However, there's also some right toss on here too. Maxwell's Silver Hammer, in particular, can fuck right off.
I like Come Together, Here Comes the Sun; I kind of like Oh Darling, Polythene Pam
This album is a classic and deserves praise but it's not their best work and not my favorite. It's reputation proceeds it, the hits are bangers but some of the weaker songs make it feel sloppy. The cover art vaults it to near art status but I can't get past "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", "Mean Mr. Mustard", and Polythene Pam." Maybe I just don't like songs based around wacky characters, I'm not sure. I'm all for their enigmatic lyrics but there's a few on here that significantly reduce my ability to rate it as high as it should be. I'm going 3.35 for ending on "Her Majesty" after such a stellar run.
Great album..
Damals sicher 5 Sterne, heutzutage eher 5/10…
bo
Eh. It's Beatles so not super terrible but lot super great either
🙌
I think anyone who knows me thinks I’m probably going to tank this album. I haven’t had the best relationship with the Beatles and I’m pretty outspoken about it. However, as this is the first of, I am sure, MANY Beatles albums, I have to give some context and history on the first one. Let it be said that I do not hate the Beatles. As a matter of fact, I think that they are some of the most prolific and talented songwriters in modern history. But spend any time with a diehard Beatles fan, and it becomes almost in sufferable to have a conversation with them about music. I am not denying that the Beatles had a massive impact on music worldwide and that that impact has lasted for an enduring period of time. What I struggle with are people who give them credit for things that existed long before them, or people think the Beatles invented. Things like four-part harmonies or techniques used in the production value of their albums. These things existed before them and existed in tandem with them in their contemporaries. But I do find a lot of their songs quite enjoyable. However, there are quite a few of them that I just can’t stand to sit through. Abbey Road: I can see why people love this album so much. There are some incredible songs and there are things being done musically here that are pushing some boundaries in popular music. But towards the end of the album I found myself desperate for it to end. Hoping the next song wasn’t a long one. Standouts include Come Together, Something, Oh Darling, Here Comes The Sun, Because, & Carry That Weight. Overall it was a decent album. My assessment is probably a 3.75. Only because on an album that has 17 songs, I only like about 7. And I wanted to skip about 6 of them.
Lovely little Beatles album snuck in there. As with most Beatles albums there are some fillers as well as some killers.
It feels slightly intimidating rating the highest rated album on the list. There’s no denying they are great song writers, with all sorts of clever subtle twists musically and lyrically in the songs. Massive influence on everyone blah blah. But I listened to this multiple times (felt duty bound to), and nope, I just can’t fall for it. We’ve already had the White Album and that wasn’t very good. This was better, but I’m just left feeling it was a ‘nice’ album. Other than the end of ‘I want you’, nothing got my pulse racing at all. Can’t really see me listening to it ever again either. Guess I have some sort of Beatles immunity - I’ve never had a special power before. Well that’s exciting at least.
Overrated album alert....yeah it's got some classic George songs but it's too long and self indulgent. It was probably best they split up.
Good

I can't believe it. It feels so wrong It was so fun to clown the Beatles at every given opportunity, but all good things come to an end. This album is good. Their best even. Not perfect, there is still some of the usual garbage but it takes up a small amount of space this time Too bad the Beatles are no more. They have ceased to be. They've expired and gone to meet their maker right after they started writing decent music
one two three four five six seven all cute tokfus go to heaven I almost kinda liked this, which is a feat given what I think of the Beatles favourite song of this album (since years ago) is the one about bonbi
Not nearly as good as Sgt Peppers.
Pretty decent. The Beatles are for sure the most overrated band in history, and the only real knockout track here for me is "Here Comes the Sun". But nothing is bad, it's just the Beatles innit
This album really is all over the place. It’s carried by its hits in the beginning but as soon as that octopus song stats this album falls off a fucking cliff. I’m sorry, I know this is the holy grail for boomers but I’m really not wildly impressed. There are multiple songs with a whiny voice over ambient tracks and it’s just plain boring. They do a lot of really cool things but they ruin it with how up their own ass they are at this point in their career. It’s not a bad album, but it’s really just an average album for this point in music history. Black Sabbath’s paranoid comes out just one year after this and I refuse to entertain the idea that these albums are in the same league. Sorry boomers, you remember this album better than it actually is, try to take the rose colored glasses off and stop judging the band on a curve.
lol the Beatles are silly
Not really my taste but there are some nice songs out there.
Ok
The beatles are always difficult to rate. They are undeniable important to music and are beloved culturally as one of the best bands to ever exist. So, when you listen to the album many tout as the greatest album of all time and find it just pretty good you tend to ask yourself "did I really not like it that much or is it not as good of a listen as people say it is." For me? I think I fall on the latter. Several tracks were very interesting like I want you or Because. Then the opening was a series of songs that, at least to me were just more of the same Beatles everybody knows already. Maybe I'm insane but Come Together isn't nearly the megatrack people thing it is. I really enjoyed about 4 tracks, the rest I really could have been fine not sitting through.
A lot of drums. A lot of drums.
yeah, it's all right. doesn't hurt to listen to.
if I'm forced to listen to the Beatles, this is the least musically offensive of all their albums.
Probably my pick for one of the better albums.
This has about 4 tracks I really like, and everything else is pretty mid
I've never bought a Beatles album and would never choose to listen to them if alternatives were available. That said, there is no denying their influence. As an album it was unoffensive and easy to get through. 3 stars.
Some absolutely timeless songs
Solid
Meh, it's fine. I'm not a big Beatles guy. This isn't their best.
Classic!
Dans celui-ci j'ai aimé : Come together+ I want you+++ Mais je trouve les autres morceaux moins intéressants. Aucune envie de le ré écouter, mais par contre +1 pour I want you que je trouve vraiment très bien => 3/5
Certain songs were quite annoying
Classic Beatles, from whimsical kids' songs through the great Something and then a second side of glued-together pieces.
This is my second Beatles album in a row after getting Revolver yesterday. I liked this better than that one, but I still just don't see what makes these guys so special. It's mid-rate pop at best for me.
Enough with the Beatles albums. Yes, yes, very influencial. I still don't get why these guys are always held up as the gold standard of music. It's fine, but that's it.
Yeah like it's ok
Great album , heard it as a kid from my dad.
Apart from the Harrison classics and Golden Slumbers, I'm not mad about this album but I cant sink to a 2, an iffy 3 it is.
sure, it's good
I know the Beatles were considered an important band, but I've never much cared for them although some of the members' did some good work after the Beatles. Abbey Road is okay, but I have no desire to re-play any of the tracks today.
I felt that my writing went well .
I can see why people enjoy it. It would have been better suited for a different period in my life when I would have resonated with it more. Sun King was my favorite.
After George Harrison's All Things Must Pass, this may be the best album I have heard from any Beatle. The album has a number a very good songs. I really enjoyed the 3 consecutive songs starting with Golden Slumbers through The End. Definitely may favorite portion of the album. Maybe it was George's album that softened me up a bit, but Come Together, Something, Oh Darling, I Want You, You Never Give Me Your Money and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window were all songs that stood out to me. Maybe I need to stop just ripping on their music because I see the name Beatles? Have to admit, I listened to this album a few times over last couple days and thought it was solid music. Golden Slumbers and You Never Give Me Your Money are my 2 favorites. Probably could have cut out several songs, imo, but shit, this is going to be my highest rated Beatle album from what we've heard from this list. Not quite All Things Must Pass, but close. Still not a fan, but this is a good album. Not going to round up because, well, it's still the Beatles. 3.5
Paul is dead.
I know I should appreciate the Beatles more, but besides the canonical songs, I just don't enjoy these albums, and not all of the canonical songs are my thing, either. The organ is a lot to handle on this release.
Weird album
Typical Beatles
As someone who isn’t a Beatles fan and hasn’t ever listened to more than the odd song in situ, this was a pleasant surprise. Very listenable and some good songs, more rock based than I had anticipated. Some very good drum work from Ringo! A good first Beatles experience!
Beatles went in a bit of a different direction for this one, lots of classics
Its the beatles
I guess I like the Beatles more than I thought.
One of the Beatles best albums, but not the craziest beatle fan ever. So I enjoyed it, but don’t get too excited by it.
Same ol same ol
with this album i bounce between absolutely love this song to do not care at all could i write poetry to this? n
Great songwriting, but sonicly stuck in the past. Based on what Else happened this year, I don’t really get the hype.
3.12 per track. Hits and complete misses to be honest. Album as a whole seems in cohesive even if a lot of the songs are good.
not their best...
Same old - fine. Dont care about the Beatles.
Some cracking songs, definitely improved my opinion of the beatles!
its aight
Given that it's the highest rate album on this app I think I need to listen to it again. And probably again.
Further confirmation that I just Do Not Get the Beatles. There are some awesome songs on here, loved Here Comes the Sun and Carry That Weight (and yes, I think Octopus’s Garden is super fun), but the rest of the album felt super uneven and didn’t live up to the legendary status this album holds in the cultural discussion.
Very groovy but some themes had me raising eyebrows. I appreciate the commitment to whimsy, but it felt like verging on chaotic evil whimsy.
Never got into the Beatles. The songs grow on me the more I listen. 3/5
Rock, folk, blues, prog, mid/slow, male, polyphonic, ballads. Many rhythms, tunes and melodies I don't like, some are good. My first thought: is this their last album? "I want you (she's so heavy)" starts so boring, but becomes a great song. Many others are just... somehow annoying. Close to 2 stars only
Come Together -10/10 Something - 7/10 Maxwell's Silver Hammer - 7.5/10 Oh! Darling - 7.5/10 Octopus's Garden - 7.5/10 I Want You (She's So Heavy) - 6/10 Here Comes the Sun - 10/10 Because - 7.5/10 You Never Give Me Your Money - 8/10 Sun King - 7.5/10 Mean Mr Mustard - 7.5/10 Polythene Pam - 7.5/10 She Came in Through the Bathroom Window - 7.5/10 Golden Slumbers - 7.5/10 Carry That Weight - 7.5/10 The End - 7.5/10 Her Majesty - 7.5/10 TOTAL - 131/170
Good. 3/5
3,5
Not my favorite Beatles album. Well done of course but the songs are too moody and less fun
From one repeat artist to another. The Beatles are making their second showing with Abbey Road, And to say they improved over their earlier effort Rubber Soul is an understatement. This album was so much more catchy, memorable, interesting, and more enjoyable to listen to than Rubber Soul. My only real gripe with this album is the fact that some of the songs are separated into multiple songs when they should have been one song (especially during the back half). Having the songs change like that is really distracting but all and all. This was a much better album than i was expecting Best Song: Oh! Darling Worst Song: The End
Never really listened to the Beatles much, this is the first album of theirs I'm listening to in it's entirety. Come Together is very catchy and groovy, and the guitar solo is really cool. "Something" isn't exactly bad, but it's not my type either. I love the chord progression in some parts though. Maxwell's silver hammer sounds a bit silly to have such gruesome lyrics, which is interesting but I'm not sure I like it. The vocals on Oh! Darling are awesome and I love the guitar. Octopus Garden is a good song, but I just don't like the words "octopus' garden". Can't explain it. I want you (she's so heavy) is the type of song that I'm not into, but I can see why people enjoy it. I think it's too long and repetitive, but that's just me. Here comes the Sun is one I obviously already knew. It's a great song, nothing more needs to be said (I couldn't help but sing along). Because is a good song, but sometimes the backing instruments feel a bit jarring. You never give me your money has a great chord progression, but I'm not sure if I really like the changing vocals. Sun King isn't really a good song. Mean Mr Mustard's upbeat sound contrasts nicely with the slow Sun King, it's a very fun little song, but it's good that it's so short. Polythene Pam is a bit strange, the best parts are whenever there's no vocals. It's followed up by She Came In through the bathroom window, which fits so nicely I didn't even notice the song changed. I really like the sort of western sound this one has. I can't believe I hadn't listened to Golden Slumbers before... It's so beautiful... I feel like this song alone is enough to make up for the few less good (in my opinion) songs on this album. It's a shame that Carry that Weight practically belongs to Golden Slumbers, because while I do like it, I'm more of a Spotify Shuffle guy, so I'll practically never hear them together. Basically same thing for The End. All in all I think this is a pretty good album, but I doubt I'll revisit most of the songs on here. Maybe I'm too young to really appreciate this music, I'm not sure. I can see people enjoying this though.
Sigh. Once I realized this was going to be 1,001 Albums the Olds Love I knew the Beatles were coming. They'll probably be a full 1% of the total, I imagine. Basically I was dreading this. I mean, I like a lot Beatles songs. And I am fully cognizant and appreciative of their influence on popular music. But, I don't know, I struggle with analogy to describe my feelings. I have settled on ice cream. Ice cream is awesome. Everyone likes ice cream, but in the end it's ice cream. There are more subtle, delicious deserts out there. Key Lime Pie, Cannoli, Portuguese Egg Tarts, New York Cheese Cake, etc. So anyway. "Come Together" is a fantastic Dylan ripoff. "Something" is a wonderful George is a sweetheart example. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" sucks, and if it was made by anyone but the Beatles people would admit it. "Oh Darling" is a good tune, surprises me how good it is on every re-listen. "Octopus's Garden" is a maggoty pile of shit that makes me wish I was listening to the fucking awful "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" a second time instead. I don't know if I'm going to keep song by songing it. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is some great Lennon dark psychodelia that along with "Come Together" should have been on a Lennon solo album. I mean I appreciate that they are wearing their influences so clearly on their sleaves by this point, but I hate that Beatleheads want to claim that this is original, groundbreaking stuff. It's not, they were ripping off others, as they were being ripped off, and as everyone else was ripping off everyone else. "Here Comes the Sun" is more George goodness. "Because" is throwaway junk that Beatleheads wank over. "You Never Give Me Your Money" is packed with too many quirky, aren't we clever, Beatles' moments to avoid being annoying, I almost like it, too bad no one in the studio by this point could tell any of these guys no. "Sun King" is another mix of good and bad ideas that becomes less than the sum of its parts. "Mean Mr. Mustard" is more cutesy schmaltz. "Polythene Pam" is great, half proto-punk, half proto-glam. "She Came In Through the Bathroom Window" is fine. "Golden Slumbers" is great Paul cheese that he's always aiming for. I admit, I do love the end of this album, mostly, all these sub 2 minute songs, with a could more both under 2 and a half. "Carry That Weight" is good. "The End" is let down by, I hate to say it, honestly, Ringo's semi-talented 12 year old level drumming, and "Her Majesty" is another one that should have been left on the cutting room floor. Which is really the story of this album, and the Beatles as a whole. No one had the balls to tell them their farts didn't smell like pumpkin pie. Maybe if they made half as many songs they'd be twice as good.
Another classic. I'm not a Beatles fan, but I see the appeal.
I enjoyed this album, but I probably won't go back and listen to it all again. My overall impression was that it was just nice. My favourite songs were Come together and Oh! Darling.
Was good. But not really my thing. McCartney really impressed me with his vocal performance on Oh! darling. But this kind of music isn't for me. I see how massively influential they were and how they shaped so many genres of music I listen to. But I think I just prefer the newer forms of the genre.
Familiar songs I forgot were from the Beatles. Enjoyable as background music, but not necessarily something I would choose to listen to.
Not my favorite Beatles album. Between the nonsensical "Come Together" and the murderous "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," it's not an album I tend to seek out.
not bad
I've heard it a million times... no thanks, bro.
Good chill album to listen to.
I can appreciate the sound and style of the album. It's not something I will come back to often, but if I'm in a particular mood I will re listen. I understand the cutral importance of Abbey Road. Some sonhs caught my attention more than others.
einiges Bekanntes, einiges Schräges - Beatles!
Beatles halt
Kinda surprised that’s it
I struggled with this. It's a collection of good and less good songs, without much of a thematic thread.
Ja maar ook nee. Octopus garden is wel echt fijn!
Ja beatles idunno man
decent album, I can see why it's so popular. Just not really my style. 3 stars
The first four songs are great, completely lost the plot after Oh! Darling.
Overall not my thing, some songs were good
Known Before: Band/Album Standouts: No 5.5
it’s an album that’s for sure. classic but wouldn’t listen
Although I wasn't the biggest fan of some of these songs, it's hard to deny the impact this album has. I did enjoy some of the songs, but some of the less popular ones I did find pretty goofy overall. Would be a 4 if I didn't have a huge ick about the beatles tbh
Other than the famous songs, this album was average.
Revolver is a better album. Rubber Soul is a better album. The quality of songs on this isn’t really consistent. But Come Together, Something, and Here Comes the Sun are the best known songs from this album for a reason. I also really liked Carry that Weight and Because. I also love Octopus’s Garden. Controversial opinion, but I sang it as a kid for a pre-school program so it holds a lot of sentimental value for me. It’s not that the other songs are bad, they just don’t stand out (except Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, which I don’t know how to feel about because I don’t really like the British Music Hall/Baroque pop sounds common on Paul songs, but I like it when the bang bang part comes in). And there too many filler songs.
Maybe I'm just in a better headspace to appreciate The Beatles today, but I liked this one WAY more than I liked Revolver. This doesn't even sound like the same band, but in my case that's a very good thing.
One of the better Beatles albums. Ringo goes hard and the George written songs are some of the better ones on the album.
I really enjoyed listening to this album! I think it had some great songs though I do think that the song maxwells silver hammer was… interesting… other than that I really liked the album and I though that it was just a great thing to listen to! I definitely recommend! 3/5
Great pop songs! Far from the greatest album of all time!
Some early psychedelic and rock vibes. Very interesting. Still got that jolly, upbeat and silly vibes. Maxwell's silver hammer and octopuses garden are bouncy and fun The album then turns darker with I Want you (she's so heavy). Side B starts bright again. Like a second album.
there's only a few songs i would come back to and listen to again. i can see why this album is as big as it is- it's not my favorite personally, but there's no bad songs. good background music but not something im playing in the car. so many of the songs are way too together is such a popular song compared to some of the other tracks
I get the significance it’s just that the Beatles aren’t my jam.
classic album. not bad
Mixed emotions, middle to end strong with dabs of near skippers
This feels more cohesive than the White Album, I like it though I still feel it has a number of left field tracks that are easy to skip. I can’t believe the drama was over Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, I would have left once I heard Ringo say the words “Octopus’s Garden,” doubly so after hearing the track. Once again, George heroically puts out the best songs on the album, and once again the behind the scenes info makes Lennon sound like an asshole to work with. Still, a good send off for them as a group.
Legendary album, but not my cup of tea.
good songs, some i didn't like maxwell's. octopus. I want you, because or Come togheter the highlights, other some songs but the named before wasn't good in my opinion
Okay picks up towards the end
It's never really done it for me, I just prefer some of their other albums... Rubber Soul, Revolver, Mystery Tour to name a few.
This is a complete mish-mash. It’s incohesive and much as some of the songs are great the album doesn’t hold together. George is the star of the show here. I did really like I Want You as well. I couldn’t remember when I last heard that so it was good to hear. Not as iconic as folklore would have me believe.
Im a bit biased because I don’t like the Beatles, but there were some catchy songs on this album. It was kinda fun, just not really my cup of tea. 3/5
a milestone in music history... I just think that it's not perfect at any means... good but nothing more... 3/5
Christ, this is overrated. By Beatle's standards I mean. On it's own it's still a very good album. But the best of the best? I think not. It's a crime that Mr Mustard is only 1 minute long, it was one of my favourites from the album. Well, it's about time I finally listened to this in full. Was I particularly impressed? Nope. Is 3 stars a fair rating? Nope, but that's my score regardless.
The songs you know you know for a reason. However, the rest of the songs just fade into the background. Now I don't know, I haven't studied music theory and evolution so maybe they are doing something groundbreaking and revolutionary but to me it just sounds like middle of the road pop music. It's fine, it's far from bad but it's also far from the religious experience people describe. They know what they're doing but it's fine. Truly, this only confirms to me that in the movie Yesterday, if someone started playing these songs and nobody had ever heard them before, he'd get some fans but by and large nobody would care.
I think come together is my least favorite song of all time and I don’t know why. Album is excellent as a whole, lyrics are a little out there but that’s who they are. It’s long but there’s a lot of songs and they do well with variation. I think it isn’t quite as well done overall as revolver, but it’s very core for the era.
i understand that this is literally one of the most important albums of all time. and for that i am glad that i listened to it. but there are very few songs on here that i thought were good enough to listen to again. i just don’t get why it’s thought of as being so good. Here Comes the Sun is an all time banger though
Not my favorite Beatles album, the second half was pretty weird, but i liked it well enough.
Decent.
- Pretty great vibes - I recognize that the reason I'm not as into this as other things is cuz literally everyone was influenced by The Beatles so this is sorta the basis for everyone's sound - Solid 3.5 - Oh! Darling, Come Together
- Another classic - Really enjoyed the bass on this album - So many hits in their catalog
Reviewed the whole thing on a long train as a personal record to confirm Beatles are a singles band. Come together - Arguably the best Beatles song, really cool, ahead of its time. Something/Oh darling- forgettable slow songs. Maxwell's silver hammer - has the 'when I'm 64' vibe if it was about a violent serial killer. Disturbing in a 'Tommy' sort of way. Octopus's garden - Novelty village hall-y inoffensive song with bouncy bass. Drug fuelled I guess. I want you - Enjoyable blues rock, a bit Hendrixy, liked the singing/lead guitar doing the same notes, would have been too long at half the runtime. Here comes the sun - A belter, positive, laid back but interestingly arranged. Love it. Because - Queenish harmonies, quite nice. You never give me your money - Bland and slow to start, with a novelty harpsichord bit woven in. Weird mish mash, doesn't really work in my opinion. Sun king - Passed me by so I'll never know. Mean Mr mustard - offensively loud, overdriven bass, pointless. Polythene Pam - Also a throwaway song entirely built around three chords. She came in through the bathroom - didn't realise the previous song had ended until a minute in, slightly better but unmemorable. Golden slumbers - Piano driven with some strings, a bit let it be, liked it. Carry that weight - Ran straight on from golden slumbers, basically the beefed up second chorus, still good but diminishing returns. The End - Blues rock and piano, again reminded me of queen. Her majesty - 25 seconds of acoustic guitar, fine I guess. Overall, not totally impressed but probably the best Beatles album we've had so far.
Standard Pop-Album, macht alles richtig, nichts außerhalb der Norm. Gute-Laune Vibes, aber leider nichts Besonderes. 7/10
It's alright, a bit dull, but so is this review, so who am I to judge.
Mitä tapahtuu B-puolella? Mutta tunnelmaltaan eheä, hyvin Beatles, monipuolisuutta sopivissa rajoissa A-puolella
Yksi vaikuttava (Come Together) ja muutama oikein nautinnollinen biisi (Octopus' Garden, I Want You, Here Comes the Sun...). B-puoli kuitenkin lässähtää ikävästi. Ja Maxwell's Silver Hammer on anteeksiantamaton.
Best Beatles album, still plagued by too many children's songs
Cute album, the guitar/drum beats are simple, and mostly the same throughout the album, my favorite song is def Something. The funny anecdote: The song Carry that weight got stuck on repeat while I was at the gym lmao.
This is, no hyperbole, the greatest album of all time.
Come together I want yo
Very entertaining, but apart from some beautiful pearls also all kinds of mediocre silliness.
Listens: 3 Enjoyed: yeah Not too much to say here. The beauty in The Beatles is that the lyrics are so simple anyone could have written it, including a child. Which obviously means some tracks are gonna be less than great also. For the record it would be a very low 4
Like my album yesterday, this is my third time listening to this one. I feel conflicted about my rating on this album. I’m still at the beginning of the list, so I’m still figuring out my rating system. As much as I think that this album is great and obviously deserves to be on this list, I just don’t like much of the songs on it. My ratings so far have all been personal to me, so I’m just going to give it a 3.
Indifferent about the beatles
Some brilliance, but some of the production and electronic instrumentation detracts from the experience for me. I know, I know,… It’s the Beatles.
I'm a huge Beatles fan, but never really got Abbey Road. There's some great stuff on it, but also some rubbish.
Beatles have weird tunes
I failed my assignment and didn’t listen to the whole thing and believe it or not there were a lot of songs I hadn’t heard before. I enjoyed what I did listen to, though.
I think it was really enjoyable but I thought some of the songs on the end of the album were unnecessary
Incoherent like the White Album is. But White Album is utterly brilliant and this one has some.songs that I find of less quality. Overall a 3 out of 5
As with all beatles albums for me, ups and downs.
There were a number of enjoyable songs but also a lot of chaff.
Okay, I guess.
It's one of their best, if you like that sort of thing.
I normally glaze over when the Beatles come up, but I have to say the start of Come Together did hook me But I still have that mental block on the Beatles - for me a 3 as I dont hate it but but I ever choose it? I know it's a classic, but its not for me
How can a band as lauded as the Beatles also be responsible for releasing on of the worst songs ever recorded. Yes I am talking about Maxwell's Silver Hammer. The rest of the album is all over the place and with the exception of Here Comes The Sun, I don't make it through side 2 as it is a struggle. The purists will hate me for it but comparing Abbey Road to Sgt. Peppers or Revolver, this just isn't a fantastic album
Enjoyed it.
Not bad
Over rated but still good 7/10
The 'Beardy Beatle' period. Has peace and love maaaan running through it like a stick of hippy rock
Chilled album, quite hippy vibes.
Not the best Beatles album, but also not the worst
So far I have listened to "Come Together" and I didn't really think it was that good. "Something" Is great, really good song. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" not so great.. "Oh darling" not good "octopus garden" im giving up on this album
I understand why this album is liked I just couldn't get into it.
yeah yeah its Beatles its a fantastic set of songs. But as an album it is pretty inconsistent nowhere as gratifying listen as say Revolver or Sgt Peppers so 3/5
Jams for days.
Good
yeah sorry i don't get it
I liked it. It has some solid tracks such as "Come Together", "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", "Here Comes The Sun", etc. Is it my favorite of all time though? Nope. Some tracks just don't have what it takes. Good experience, though.
Objectively good album, just not my kind of music
Must have been amazing at the time. Not really my thing but clearly a very impressive album. Still sounds modern today.
Could take it or leave it heard all these songs ad nauseam my whole life if i never heard it again it wouldnt bother me
Medley was cool, but none of the songs were really memorable in their own right. Harrison carried the hell out of it
Overrated
