Best record the Beatles ever made. Best record Rock Music has ever seen. Best D-Side of any album ever. This album just might be my favorite of all time. Can't really heap enough praise onto it. And that's really all I have to say Favorite Tracks: The End, Her Majesty 5/5

I've owned a copy of this for over 20 years and love it, but I tried to listen objectively today for the sake of this review. There's not a single bad song on this album and IMHO, the medley on the back half is one of the best things ever recorded. I will say that I never noticed how jarring "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is coming hot off the heels of the masterpiece "Something." I like the song but I don't think the album would be worse off without it. Overall, a truly amazing album that I never grow tired of.
Plenty I recognized, and everything else was fun
Christ, this is overrated. By Beatle's standards I mean. On it's own it's still a very good album. But the best of the best? I think not. It's a crime that Mr Mustard is only 1 minute long, it was one of my favourites from the album. Well, it's about time I finally listened to this in full. Was I particularly impressed? Nope. Is 3 stars a fair rating? Nope, but that's my score regardless.
I know this is an iconic album, but I’m not really well versed in the Beatles and haven’t listened to their music a lot besides the everyday hits. I liked it overall, had a few songs out of left field that I didn’t expect (Spanish?) but I liked a lot of what I heard, and the few popular ones were as good as I remembered.
One of the greatest albums of all time: No one will ever convince me otherwise to this point. The lyrics, the bass, the funky little riffs, all of it amounts to pure perfection and I adore this album. The second half ( Abbey Road Melody) flows perfectly by design and is nirvana for the ears. Personally my favourite Beatles album and always will be.

The songs you know you know for a reason. However, the rest of the songs just fade into the background. Now I don't know, I haven't studied music theory and evolution so maybe they are doing something groundbreaking and revolutionary but to me it just sounds like middle of the road pop music. It's fine, it's far from bad but it's also far from the religious experience people describe. They know what they're doing but it's fine. Truly, this only confirms to me that in the movie Yesterday, if someone started playing these songs and nobody had ever heard them before, he'd get some fans but by and large nobody would care.
This is the album that proved (to me at least) that the Beatles could have survived if Paul had left the band. His contributions seem like the weakest and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is just not a good song. It is a song that indicative of McCartney's trite songwriting style that sometimes takes him over (even to this day). "Oh Darling" is a banger and it shows the kind of soul and power that makes me like the Stones so much. This album is definitely worth a listen and is important because it shows how/why the Beatles ended up breaking up. It was the last written/recorded album and contains so many classic songs that are heard on the radio. Don't love the Beatles, but really like this album.
oh my. One of the best albums of all time, this is a 5 stars. I don't even need to listen to it again, but I will anyway. The side 2 medley is probably one of the best pieces of music of the 20th century. Every song is really good and worthwhile. I don't think you can mention a single song, because then you'd have to mention other songs. Even the silly beatles songs (Octopus's Garden and maxwell's silver hammer) are better than a lot of bands produce in their entire careers. Simply amazing songwriting and performing.

I think come together is my least favorite song of all time and I don’t know why. Album is excellent as a whole, lyrics are a little out there but that’s who they are. It’s long but there’s a lot of songs and they do well with variation. I think it isn’t quite as well done overall as revolver, but it’s very core for the era.
Really liked this one. I’ve never really been impressed by the Beatles and didn’t understand why they are so highly regarded, starting to get it now

Quite a few songs I liked, but I really don't like the Beatles. They've made some of the most beautiful songs know, but to me, most of their songs are just boring love song fare. Still, 4 stars, because this album had more good songs than bad.
An interesting perspective is that this album was being recorded while the Woodstock festival was on. Side 1 Track 1. Come Together is one of John's best songs. "Here come ole flattop" was "borrowed" from Chuck Berry's "You Can't Catch Me". Chuck couldn't care less but Lennon was sued by Morris Levy, a fine gentleman, except for the fact that he was a scumbag known for swindling poor black musicians and was later convicted with extortion. Levy owned Chuck's songs and went after Lennon for a pound of flesh. I understand Lennon settled by agreeing to include You Can't Catch Me on his Rock'n'Roll LP which would have given Levy a shit whack of royalties. The drums on Come Together are iconic and are both intricate and muzzled. Pearl Drums were critical to pull this off as the drums would be too overwhelming if Ringo played any other drum kit. Track 2 Ditto Ringo's Pearl drums as he continues to deliver creative drumming on Harrison's Something which is a phenomenal song. The first two songs are insanely good. Track 3 And next . . . Yup, here comes fucking Paul with Bang Bang whatever. Track 4 OK I really do like Oh Darling. Paul's singing is amazing and the guitar sounds like the guitar he used on the song Sgt Pepper. The chords are easy insofar as the strumming pattern goes - couldn't be easier really - but how someone makes those chords have that biting sound is a mystery to me. It may be the 5th Beatle working his magic. Track 5 Octo Garden is fun and par for the course Ringo stuff. The wiki notes mention that George helped Ringo write the melodies and also mention that John helped George write Something. I like how neither John nor George wanted song writing credit for their contributions. It seems like the three of them were solid friends. Track 6 A note for the kids out there, in 1969 you would be complimenting your girlfriend if you said "She's so heavy" Side two Here Comes the Sun: is the most streamed Beatles song on Spotify. That surprises me, It's a great song - but it still surprises me. 1 billion plays is serious. It's unfortunate that seeing this reminded me that Coldplay's The Scientist had even more plays. See my review of Cold Play's A Rush Of Blood To The Head to see how I used my MacBook to give Coldplay a kick in the balls. Because: So Lennon heard Yoko playing Beethoven and thought they should play the chords in the reverse order; this ended up being the song Because. Imagine how great music would sound if you could hear the things that John Lennon heard when he listened to songs. The medley I found this interesting to listen to for the first time in decades. It is intended to be a mini concept montage but there is no concept or sensible lyrical connection that I can glean. I just don't think the Beatles could do a real concept album. A concept album needs a principal songwriter to take control and write the story and the bulk of the lyrics. Pete wrote Tommy, Peter wrote The Lamb and Roger wrote The Wall. While I'm sure Paul would want to take control of a Beatles concept album, he wasn't good enough at writing meaningful lyrics that could tell a story that has a beginning, a middle and an end. John was good enough but I don't think he could be bothered. Layered on top of this is that neither Paul nor John would ever let the other take the lead which is needed for a concept album. The medley on Abbey Road is a bunch of unrelated odds and sods being Frankensteined together. It sounds like a mini concept album if you don't listen too carefully. Lyrically there is no story that hangs together. "Sunday's on the phone with Monday; Tuesday's on the phone with me. Oh Yeah". Should be "Oh no". Musically, however, it does hang together as a concept. The faux overture of "You never give me your money" reappears as "You never give me your pillow . . ." and musically it works. The jamming with the guitar solos is top shelf and Ringo pulls out some creative drumming on Paul's songs for the first and last time. Lyrically though it makes you wish someone told Paul to give his head a shake. Musically, the medley is an excellent example of how songs can be put together to make the whole better than the sum of the parts. Is this Paul's genius? Or is it the genius of the fifth Beatle? George Martin was a master at making the Beatles' music sound its best. He unfortunately had no ability to make Paul's lyrics have personality. Her Majesty is too much fun. I decided to learn to play it on guitar thinking it would be easy. Wrong. There are 17 different chords in that 25 second song. Not an easy one to learn properly.
The first three songs tell the story. Lennon’s “Come Together” is epic at many levels, the overall feel the lyrics especially. Harrison’s “Something” is a great love song with great guitar playing. McCartney’s “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”, is a stinker, loathed by the entire band who were unable to veto it, and right up there with "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da". It makes you wonder how the Beatles would have turned if George was able to make a bigger contribution. I find the second side medley interesting. The songs merge quite seamlessly. It’s like they had too many songs and recorded 2-minute versions of them.
I am acutely aware that this album is the number one rated album on this list so I had to think carefully about this. I know it might be shocking for the many ardent fans, but I just don’t think the album is really that cohesive. Harrison writes some of the best songs of his career and Ringo throws in a couple of cute ditties and Lennon and McCartney are solid as usual but I don’t think it all gels together as well as say Sergeant Pepper, which I gave five stars. On Sergeant Pepper, every single song was a killer and the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. No doubt Abbey Road is still a great album but I reserve five stars for only a handful of truly “perfect” albums, but that’s just me.
One of my least favorite Beatles albums. You can really feel their looming breakup. That said, it’s still amazing. The guitar tones are tasty, and the production and instrumentation are a beautiful microcosm of where rock came from and where it where it was going.
the easiest 5 i’m going to give this entire list, this is perhaps the perfect album. not much more to say about the project itself, but i really enjoyed the alternative takes on the deluxe edition — really nice to hear the boys experimenting in the studio, i really wish those sessions were fully recorded like get back was.

i understand that this is literally one of the most important albums of all time. and for that i am glad that i listened to it. but there are very few songs on here that i thought were good enough to listen to again. i just don’t get why it’s thought of as being so good. Here Comes the Sun is an all time banger though
Tried to listen Beatles few times but always didn’t understand the hype. Nowadays I can finally understand what is going on. It’s 5, something special which you want to releasten again and again.

All my life I've said I'm not much of a Beatles fan. Yet here I was, singing along to damn near every track. Great album.

One of my favorites. So many great songs on this album, INCLUDING "Octopus' Garden". Yeah, I said it. I know people find it a little insipid, but you know what? I saw Ringo Starr last year and it still was great to hear, over 50 years later. I've heard a cover band perform this whole album live, but still nothing compares to the sound, production, and craftmanship of the original. You want a lesson on how an album should be done? This is it.
Brilliant. Not perfect, but brilliant. At first I thought side one was a bit stronger, buoyed by some of their best stylings in rock (Come Together - one-of-a-kind and thumping with wicked Lennon lyrics), blues (Oh Darling - McCartney's strained vocals are awesome), and love ballads (Something - Harrison didn't compose many, but this is one of their greatest). They more than make up for a When I'm 64 retread (Maxwell's Silver Hammer - still fun), obligatory Starr offering (Octopus's Garden - still decent), and solid but flawed prog rock attempt (I Want You - beginning and end are cool). But I really came to enjoy side two and the 8ish song medley. Some of the songs don't quite splice together cleanly and so at first listen I was wondering about fit. But as it keeps going different songs really fit together well and it all comes together. On multiple listens that sequence was my favorite part. I know that Here Comes the Sun and Because aren't part of the medley, but the former is another Harrison masterpiece and the latter is a real beautiful Lennon piece (the three-part harmonies are exquisite) that fits nicely next to the style of You Never Give Me Your Money, which is an awesomely arranged piece. The transition to Sun King could be better but bringing back three-part harmonies (and the opening line) helps it connect with the first two songs of side two (again, not part of the medley). And it connects really well into Mean Mr. Mustard, and the whole sequencing between those two, Polythene Pam, and She Came in Through the Bathroom Window is great - it feels like one song with four different twists. Again, a little abrupt as it transitions to Golden Slumbers but the sequence between that one and Carry that Weight is incredible and the two together are beautiful - I really love the former (a sweet lullaby) and the segue into the latter gives goosebumps. Carry that Weight also nicely ties back to , and the latter also nicely ties back to You Never Give Me Your Money and decently segues into The End, which is fitting for the last song (minus a bonus track) on the last album put together while the Beatles were still a band. The separate drum and guitar solos for each member is great. And hey, why not finish on a great lyrical one-liner. They really should've just cut Her Majesty but I'm just nit-picking now. Some flaws, but as a whole, brilliant.
Simply one of the best albums of all time, and my personal favorite Beatles album, hands down. Absolutely timeless. Favorite tracks: Come Together (perfect in every way - Ringo's great tom line, the bass-line, everything), Something (love the simple understated guitar solo - Frank Sinatra famously called Something the "greatest love song ever written" and said it was his favorite Lennon-McCartney song - sigh), I Want You (such great guitar lines and composition - the ending repeated motif gets more ominous as it goes, which makes for a great segue into...), Here Comes the Sun (another masterpiece by George Harrison), Golden Slumbers (loved seeing Paul play this live a few years ago), Carry that Weight (really the whole ending medley). It's a little irritating to hear all the shit Lennon said about the album and McCartney's contributions. The more I learn about John Lennon, the more I think he was a sad little man who tragically never got a chance to show maturity and growth. But enough of that - this is a perfect album start to finish. Definition of a 5-star album.

The human brain is weird. Is this album good because I can remember the lyrics and music? Or do I remember it because it is good? I might listen to this again sometime. Who would ever write a song about an Octopus's garden?
Pretty nice to come across a simply enjoyable and wonderful album like this. There's both darker and brighter pieces, but all are memorable and engaging. I'm not sure i fully appreciate the small snippets of songs on the back half, but there enough good pieces in there that keep it fun.
My personal favorite Beatles album. The B-side is just astounding.

This was my introduction to Beatles albums, as it was the only one my parents had on CD. She’s So Heavy used to scare me. So did Maxwell’s Silver Hammer (it wasn’t so much the murder, as the impotence of the justice system - terrifying). Anyway, I could spend ages reviewing this but it speaks for itself so I won’t. Other than to say I don’t know what the greatest album ever is, but if someone told me it was Abbey Road, I wouldn’t argue.
Reviewed the whole thing on a long train as a personal record to confirm Beatles are a singles band. Come together - Arguably the best Beatles song, really cool, ahead of its time. Something/Oh darling- forgettable slow songs. Maxwell's silver hammer - has the 'when I'm 64' vibe if it was about a violent serial killer. Disturbing in a 'Tommy' sort of way. Octopus's garden - Novelty village hall-y inoffensive song with bouncy bass. Drug fuelled I guess. I want you - Enjoyable blues rock, a bit Hendrixy, liked the singing/lead guitar doing the same notes, would have been too long at half the runtime. Here comes the sun - A belter, positive, laid back but interestingly arranged. Love it. Because - Queenish harmonies, quite nice. You never give me your money - Bland and slow to start, with a novelty harpsichord bit woven in. Weird mish mash, doesn't really work in my opinion. Sun king - Passed me by so I'll never know. Mean Mr mustard - offensively loud, overdriven bass, pointless. Polythene Pam - Also a throwaway song entirely built around three chords. She came in through the bathroom - didn't realise the previous song had ended until a minute in, slightly better but unmemorable. Golden slumbers - Piano driven with some strings, a bit let it be, liked it. Carry that weight - Ran straight on from golden slumbers, basically the beefed up second chorus, still good but diminishing returns. The End - Blues rock and piano, again reminded me of queen. Her majesty - 25 seconds of acoustic guitar, fine I guess. Overall, not totally impressed but probably the best Beatles album we've had so far.
Not a massive Beatles fan. Come Together is maybe my favourite song of theirs, and I always like Octopus's Garden. Apart from Something, and, Here Comes the Sun, I didn't find much else that stood out, or that I enjoyed.
I think I've come to appreciate The Beatles more since listening to their albums fully. They have such a great style and are able to switch their sound so easily. Highlights: Come Together Oh! Darling Here Comes The Sun Carry That Weight
Obligatory I am not a Beatles fan... Although, this was the best album of theirs we've had so far. Lots of tracks I knew. But, like most of their other albums, there's also a lot of tracks that I don't think are great. Overall I don't think I'd choose to listen to much of this again Highlights are: Come together Something Octopus garden I want you Here comes the sun Because Carry the weight I've just realised I've listed pretty much half of the album there so think it has to get a 4..... Still not a huge fan though!
Incredible that the Beatles, the most popular band from the 1960s, got really good by the end of the 1960s.
I just read an article about the song Maxwell’s Silver Hammer and how the band hated it, hated recording it, thought it was a ridiculous Paul song and no one but him was into it. Add me to the list of people not into it. The rest of the album is fantastic however.
Standard Pop-Album, macht alles richtig, nichts außerhalb der Norm. Gute-Laune Vibes, aber leider nichts Besonderes. 7/10

How can it not be a 5 with side B alone and "the long one" being awesome. The recent Super Deluxe release is worth seeking out for all the rehearsals and outtakes.
Me every time a new track started: oh okay, so this one is my favorite one on the album. Just incredible all around. Everything about it. Songwriting, arrangement, variation on styles. There aren't enough stars in the world for this album. Favorite track is I Want You, but other favorites include Oh Darling, Octopus's Garden, Sun King, and Carry that Weight
It's The Beatles, of course it's good. Very good for the most part. I just could never get down with some of the songs. Sun King is one of my least favorite Beatles songs, Something and Come Together are fine but very overrated in my book. I find myself gravitating toward the more whimsical stuff (Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Octopus's Garden, Mean Mr. Mustard, Her Majesty) and 2 of my absolute favorite Beatles songs: Carry That Weight and Here Comes The Sun. I can see why many love this album and would slap a 5 without hesitation, but I think they made better albums and this is just a smidgen over hyped. A strong 4.
The Dark Horse emerges at last on this album with “Something”, the first ever non-Lennon/McCartney Beatles’ single. When it went #1 in America, Lennon’s estimation of it being the best song on the album was clearly justified. After all, it was Lennon’s idea to finally give Harrison a single release, to help give his bandmate courage and confidence in songwriting. The greatness of Harrison thus further emerges with this song and with “Here Comes the Sun”. As everyone knows, this is the Beatles’ final album, as it was released before but recorded after Let It Be and the imminent breakup of the band is painted all over the music. The Fab Four didn’t enjoy working together anymore, and their ability to make music together suffered. They knew they were breaking up, and they wanted to leave as the greatest band in history. Are they? In America, Abbey Road is their biggest selling album, but is it their best? Twelve of the 17 tracks first surfaced during the “Get Back” sessions, and thus some songs got days of attention, whereas others received very little focus. Some songs are just fragments, highlighting two things: the band’s fatigue and Lennon’s divided attention (Yoko and heroin). What happens in the end, therefore, is the throwing of all these fragments into a medley, one last, great run before the band breaks up, one final “hurrah!”

I mean, its Abbey Road, giving it anything less than a 4 would be deemed sacrilege. The Beatles have had more ink and pixels dedicated to detailing every single inch of recorded tape than any other band. If George Harrison farted during a take, that fart would have its own wikipedia page. Is the album perfect? I don't think so, by this point The Beatles couldn't be in the same room as each other and I think at times it shows. Maxwell's Silver Hammer if it was released by anyone other than The Beatles would be a quirky late 60's/early 70's top 10 that would be a tough question in a pub quiz. Ringo managed to contribute his best and worst as well, best being the iconic drumming on The End and worse being well, you know what. Overall this album shows a fractured Beatles trying to "come together" and at its highest is magical and its lowest its Maxwell's Silver Hammer.
A pretty obvious 5 from me. I really adore the medley, and the songs on the A side are very good as well. Probably not my favourite Beatles album, but still a great album. My favourite songs were Because, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, and Sun King.
First time hearing this thing all the way through, and it definitely lived up to the hype. This album has a cool stripped down lo-fi type feeling to it that I really enjoyed. Highlights: something, I want you, here comes the sun
-I cant believe Something is immediatley followed by Maxwells Silver Hammer lol. What a mood change -The bridge to something is spectacular. My personal favorite part of the album -Octopuses garden underrated af. Shits a jam -Don't know why, but that guitar riff at the outro of I Want You sounds so much like Elephant by Tame Impala to me, I looked up if he used a sample from this song but he didn't so idk -transistion from Sun King to Mean Mr. Mustard was smooth af -upon first listen, I thought Mean Mr. Mustard - Polythene Pam - She Came in Through the Bathroom Window was all one song -Ringos drum solo in The End is peak Ringo. Such a simple, but effective solo, kind of just like Ringo. -I really like how The End is like the curtain call for the Beatles, shows off all of their skills and I think of this as their 'one last hurrah' jam. They go off in this song. Kind of a bittersweet ending for this record and for the Beatles as a band(Im not counting Her Majesty as the final song because its 25 seconds long) If I had to pick just one: This is very hard for such a legendary album. It took me a bit to think of just one that would represent the album as a whole. I think if I had to choose one it would be Come Together. The song really is a good metaphor for the Beatles at the time: coming together one last time to make an album. I like the everything about the song
Gave this one a listen yesterday in the car while running some errands and decided to re-listen today after reading all the positive reviews. There are still some mixing and production things that keep me from wanting to come back to this all the time, but I respect songwriting and there’s a lot of fun stuff on here. Come together: every part of this song is dope. The simple ass but moving groove, the lyrics/vocals, and the keys and guitar licks that come in. I overlook this one a lot but it’s a tune. Something: maybe the best chord progression and love song in pop music. The strings are beautiful and the key change for the middle part lifts the song before mellowing back out for the end. The bass also is weird but fits the song really well. Maxwell: probably the worst track but still kinda funny Oh darling: just a good song with insane vocals. The slight backing vocals on this one are also just classic Beatles harmonies. Octopus’s garden: simple song but kinda reflects the sentiment behind the album of wanting to make one more joyful album as a full band before the drama outside of the studio eventually broke them up. Guitar licks are really catchy. I want you: the noise ending is sick and it’s another dark groove to vibe to like come together. Here comes the sun: Perfect 60s pop song. Been played so many times that people overlook it but it’s always fun to listen to and the production/harmonies/lead synth lines are great. Because: harmonies are crazy on this one and is one of those songs you’d really only hear from the Beatles You never give me your money: “out of college money spent see no future pay no rent” that’s life man Sun king: another chill jam with a great guitar tone and perfect harmonies First 3 song medley: the guitar licks on bathroom window are sick. I think making them a medley helps speed through the second half and keeps you intrigued. Second medley: golden slumbers has a great melody and I like the call back to you never give me your money in carry that weight. The instrumental breaks in that one are really interesting and the lead guitar is smooth af. The end is a great way to end it and shows how much the Beatles were open to fucking around even on one of the most anticipated albums ever by throwing in drum solos, trading guitar solos, and ending with a string arrangement. Her majesty: wasn’t even supposed to be on the album and they didn’t know it was there till after it sent to production Just a happy album all around. I feel like people get caught up in wanting albums to be perfect where every song is deep and emotional but I think the reason this one is great is how it can switch from being a genre defining song to almost nursery like songs that they made just to have fun. It’s an album that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is better off for it. 👍: all but favorites are something and oh darling
Ight I thought I was being clever and fun listening on vinyl…turns out this things scratched to shit. Pooping and skipping all over the place 😂. But yeah anyway this shit it’s so fire. side A was all bangers. I forget that the Beatles made reall ass rock. In my head I always right then off as more like folky (not sure why lmk if I’m completely trippin) Side B is a little lackluster but overall good, you just can’t be a first half THAT stacked. 👍 pretty much the entire first half
I’m not the biggest Beatles guy out there, but I do enjoy them and there’s no denying they consistently made good music. There’s a weird mix here of incredible songs and nonsensical weird ones. It’s not even that they’re bad, they're actually kind of fun, but it’s just odd. The highs here are very high and the lows aren’t even that low. Cut this track list down to 10 songs and it’s a 5 but the inconsistently keeps this at a 4 for me. Heard b4: Come 2geth, something, oh darling, octopus, I want you, her comes sun, bathroom window Best: Something, golden slumbers, carry the weight, here comes sun MMM: BOY YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT CARRY THAT WEIGHT A LONG TIME PS: I listened one more time before bed and this album is 5. This second half grew on me a ton. Yeah, there's some novelties here, but like I said they're still fun and well made. And the odd ones are all pretty short which makes them easily digestible. Also, the way they all flow into one another on the B side is pretty cool.

In my opinion, “Revolver” is a better record by a small margin, but this record stands as one of the best ever - for very good reason. It’s a masterpiece.
Abbey Road is The Beatles at their absolute best, with classic hit after classic hit. The back half does what the White Album was trying to do, and wraps everything up in a perfect coda with The End. When you factor in critical acclaim, popularity, and lasting legacy, Abbey Road is probably the greatest classic rock album of all time, aside from maybe Dark Side of the Moon.
Abbey Road is my favorite album, always has been. Coming to it today, 644 albums into this little experiment, it hit me differently. It was like meeting my soulmate after a long time apart. I think listening to so many diverse albums by so many artists has certainly broadened my horizons. But it has only strengthened my love and appreciation for Abbey Road. 1001 Albums is littered with artists who were inspired by this album, who attempted to make their own Abbey Road and failed. I could go on about this album for hours, but I won't. We all know this album. Most of us love this album. It's as good as any album will ever get. This bunch of offcuts created in the middle of a split still outperforms most bands on a good day. Potentially the best side two ever.
Depending on the day, this one trades places with Rubber Soul as my favorite Beatles record top to bottom. I just think everyone is really bringing their A-game here. They all get a moment to shine while still making it feel like a group effort, which is something that can’t always be said about Let It Be or The White Album. The two Harrison tracks in particular are incredible stand outs on side one, and the melody of side two is about the most fun way I can think of to bookend their career. I know Let It Be came out afterwards, but this is their final album to me, and feels like the fitting end their legacy deserved. I mostly listen to the 2019 mix these days, but this album needed it the least out of all of their releases. The original was already mixed for stereo, so there’s not a lot of changes here beyond beefing up the bass, which I appreciate. As a bass player myself, I’m always astonished by McCartney’s playing, and this album is no different. The only one here that is maybe slacking would be Lennon. While I love the drugged out I Want You, I can really take or leave Come Together these days. I recognize that’s a me problem. I think I’m just tired of the song at this point, and I feel that every song after it is better. Regardless, this is one of my most played albums ever and I still love it as much as I did the first time I heard it. A truly timeless album that keeps the rewards coming every time I press play.

Way better than expected
There’s a ton of undeniable greatness on this album, including many classic not only Beatles hits but just songs that are essential to music, and simply for that maybe it deserves a 5. On top of that the less popular tracks were impressive as well - loved the blues influence on many of them! Then the medley on the back half just sends the listener through a maze of sounds and colorful instrumentation full of imagination. Such a great listen! 9/10

Great rock album with some very strong moments such as I Want You and Something, and the ending medley is mostly great also. Nice variety on the album with some progressive and psychedelic elements, however just a couple weaker songs stop it from being perfect.
Greatest album ever?
It's on the top of the very best albums ever made. What can I say about Abbey Road? The Beatles got together one last time to make an album and they created this masterpiece which is really one of the best written, best produced and greatest albums ever. The album was almost called 'Everest' and yes, it would have been a fitting name of it, too, since they reached the top with this album. It has Harrison's finest songs he wrote (Something, Here Comes the Sun), Lennon's incredible opener with a fantastic bassline (Come Together) or the great I Want You, McCartney showing his singing abilities on Oh!Darling, Ringo's fine Octopus' Garden, and the fantastic medley on the B-side. 10/10, 5+ without a doubt.

I'm definitely in the set of people that believe The Beatles changed everything and this is, at the end of their career together, the epitome of why they were so good. Three songwriters (OK 4 if you allow Ringo's contribution) desperate to outdo each other. Harrison finally getting his due regard. Something has the most sublime bass line from McCartney which, whatever Harrison thought about it, makes the song. I know "Come Together" was a rip off, but it's still my favourite Beatles song. Golden Slumbers is a beautiful piece of work. "Because" is a beautifully structured song. You know what? I like "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" - McCartney was always keen to nod to the story telling tradition of British music hall and why not? I hadn't listened for a while and the second side is still a whirlwind. The Beatles could throw away songs the best of the rest couldn't imagine writing.

Few songs I like and a lot of background noise
Good album. That 8 minutes long track was absolutely pointless though. I vomited up some spicy ramen while listening to it. Obviously it wasn't caused by the song just thought I'd mention it. The serious song playing in the background made it all the more dramatic. Good times. Anyways, Here Comes The Sun is one of the best songs ever and the beginning of the album is pretty good. The second half with the short songs was weird but not bad. It was more like one big song though. Or at least it felt more coherent than the long track from the first side. Banger after banger after banger after Octopus' Garden after banger after... you get the idea. When the WEAKEST song on this album is "Octopus' Garden", it gives you a good idea on how bloody good the album is. The 2019 remaster gives the record a new breath of life, especially side-B and its medley. Every song on this album has been played on AM radio at least one million times, and they never grow stale. Had a bad day? Feel like the world's going to shit? Just want to listen to music where the band isn't confronting the harsh realities of life? Pop in this album and thank me later. Oh dang. Where to even start. I grew up listening to the Beatles so off the bat I can say I love their stuff. My personal favorites are Sgt Pepper's and The White Album, but Abbey Road has some of their other most popular songs. It's a great album! Also, the album has to have some of the most iconic and well known cover art ever.

I struggle going through some of the albums on here because they can be boring, generic, etc. but I didn’t feel this way at all with Abbey Road.
This is tied with if not a close second to revolver for my favorite Beatles album. Every song on this album is just so great and the infighting with the band members ended up making even better showcases of each person since paul and john appear as much as they usually did on a lot of these songs. Every song has a different influence and sounds so distinct and makes the album perfectly eclectic. I would list off my favorite songs but its most of them so I guess my top tier picks are oh darling, here comes the sun, either carry that weight or sometimes. Maxwells hammer and octopus's garden are nostalgia songs for me too.

My first of 1001 records to listen to. Nice choice. Of course, it's often considered by many to be the best album of all time... Being a major Beatles fan, I love this record. It's not my favorite Beatles album, though. Opening with, "Come Together", puts me in a place of comfort. My memories of past listens, environments, etc. are heightened. While listening, I'm in "work mode", so it's obviously great to hear while in that mode. I love to listen to this record while doing nothing, too. So very versatile. Classic!

Music and voice isn’t bad, can’t connect lyrically with her
As a kid, I thought I didn't like the Beatles. My friends had gotten into them and from what I heard through them I thought they were an old boy band. I held this belief for years and never gave them a shot. When I got my first job at 15, I used my first paycheck to buy a budget record player (something I had wanted for years) and was soon gifted "Let it Be" and "Abbey Road" from family friends. At the time I wished that I had gotten albums that I wanted myself but soon came to realise the power of gifting music. I gave both these records a try and was absolutely blown away by what I heard on "Abbey Road". The ideas of a boy band had disappeared with songs like "Come Together", "Oh Darling!", and especially "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". And the genius of the medley on the B side was an amazing listening experience. It made me rethink the Beatles but it also made me rethink music. There were many aspects of this record that I have never heard before from any other group in the last 50 years. This album has stuck as one of my favourites and so have the Beatles. Overall - 9.7 Maxwell's Silver Hammer knocks off 0.3

This was one of the first albums i've ever fully listened to and hearing the medley for the first time has changed me forever. It's the album that made me love albums. Just perfect.
Can an album containing songs such as ‘Maxwell’s Silver Hammer’ and ‘Octopus’s Garden’ be considered GOAT I hear you ask? Well individually, probably not, but the Beatles have always transcended such things, and ‘Abbey Road’ works and approaches GOAT status because it is greater than the sum of its parts. It sounds unlike any other Beatles record, noticeably warmer, lush, more sophisticated and polished than any of their other efforts. They were united here as they hadn’t been for years, and it shows. It’s brimming with ideas and has hooks for days. The medley, initially created to use up a bunch off offcuts the band had lying around, ends up being something special, almost operatic in scope, and a fitting coda to the groups extraordinary career. Everyone gets a final moment to shine. Ringo even gets a drum solo. In fact, that sense that an era is ending is palpable throughout the record. It feels like a farewell letter, but not a sad one. I love ‘Abbey Road’. It was the album that really turned me on to the Beatles when I was 15, and it’s the album of theirs I return to the most often.
It is hard to put this one into words that haven't been said before. Abbey Road is one of my all-time favorite albums. I've probably listened to it hundreds of times. Every song is its own little perfectly crafted masterpiece. The mood of the album is so diverse. You'll find some of the darkest Beatles material (Because, I Want You) as well as some of the most uplifting ones (Here Comes the Sun, Octopus's Garden). The production is completely masterful. Hard to believe they were on the verge of breakup during the whole process. It's my cat Maxwell's favorite as well :)

One week, two Beatles albums. After listening to Abbey Road for the third time I made up my mind - this is my favourite Beatles record and also one of the more pleasant albums to listen to, that are older than 50 years. It also has a song that I most enjoyed, written by Lennon "I Want You (she's so heavy)". It's basically like watching (or listening) to a documentary about the early beginnings of progressive rock. Also, I was very positively surprised by some vocal techniques presented by everyone, but especially Paul. Ah, and important to point out, my second favourite song by The Beatles is from this album as well - "Something" written by Harrison. Really great and slightly melancholic piece. Remarkable album.

What's not to love here? (If you say "Octopus's Garden" I've got three words for you: "haters gonna hate." It's a jaunty song that's fun to sing along to, and it pairs exceptionally well with "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" on the album "Love," which you should definitely check out if you haven't already.) I'll admit that "Sun King" is probably a throwaway track, and the medley on the back end of the album might leave casual fans scratching their heads a bit, but c'mon. "Something;" "Come Together;" "Maxwell's Silver Hammer;" "Because;" and my favorite of the bunch, "Oh, Darling!" This is all top-notch shit. It's probably not my favorite Beatles album, but it's easily top 5 and unquestionably 5 stars.

How can you go wrong with this Beatles classic. So many amazing songs. I never paid much attention to Maxwell's Silver Hammer, but damn what a happy sounding song with such horrific lyrics. Love it. So much in the album to love. And it still holds up perfectly.

This is their masterpiece. A last hurrah after the debacle of Let It Be - whatever revisionism is present in the Jackson film, that album and its sessions were a band clearly devolving and that had grown apart. You even see the artifice of an assignment to stimulate some of the old magic with an unrealistic timeline that would have been a breeze for the fab four in their most prolific younger days. It's clear that Martin pulled them up by the ears and said try again lads. The result is a perfect record. I don't even hate Maxwell's Silver Hammer as is the in thing to do. While its subject matter is bizarre, it is not alone in their catalog in either weird lyrical themes or as evil drugged out circus music. Harrison is given some shining moments and Ringo even gets to be a bit creative here. The side B suite is one of the most amazing things ever done in popular music. It is simply a bar that has seldom been even reached at much less accomplished. It is the best album by the most influential group of all time. It is a joy to listen to each and every time.
One of the best. Ever. I hear something new (unintended Beatles call-out) on it every time I listen. After the mess of the Get Back sessions, they decided to get back (totally intended) together to finish things off properly. That they did. A fine collection of songs that also functions as a whole.
The first full "grown up" vinyl ever given to me. Christmas from my Aunt. To this day one of my favourites, doesn't hurt as a memory but a great album that never bores me. That's an easy 5 stars. And yes, I did listen to it again just for this, because again. Beatles, Abbey Road.

Are there any bad tracks on this album? I'm not sure there are. There are some that aren't as good as the others, but I'm not sure there's anything outright *bad* about this, and there's plenty that's outright awesome.
Best Beatles album, still plagued by too many children's songs
Another album packed with timeless classics. I love how the Beatles are never happy just making straightforward songs, they're always pushing and experimenting both conceptually and with instrumentation and production techniques. On this album there is frequent use of a moog synthesiser, She's So Heavy has white noise and heavy guitars and a structure that makes it sound 20 years ahead of it's time. Even Maxwell's Silver Hammer is great once you get past your initial reaction to the "granny music" melody and realise it's a song about a serial killer inspired by avant-garde theatre and the writings of French symbolist writer Alfred Jarry. There is so much to un pack with each listen. 5/5

I means its Abbey Road by The Beatles, need I say anymore? I don't but I will anyway. "Come Together" is just a perfect song that I never tire of. "Something" is also a perfect track, one so good that Harrison thought he must have heard the melody and stolen it accidently. You can thank James Taylor for the intro line and George getting the motivation for finishing the song. "Octopus's Garden" might be one of the stranger Beatles songs, especially on this album, but it is such a damn good song. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" might be some of McCartney's best bass work, and the rest of the track was, well, heavy and dark and just groovy as hell. "Here Comes The Sun" is yet another perfect song on this album, the contrast of the bright optimistic tone of this song in comparison to the prior song is the best way to open up the back half of the album. I can admit that the back half of the album is a little weak, but that doesn't take away from it being a 5 star album. The sheer number of time this album cover has been recreated should immediately qualify it, I would venture to say this is the most recreated album cover of all time. Fantastic album by an obviously fantastic band. Justifiably the highest rated album on the website.

There’s a lot of classics on here, and in particular some that I found on the Across the Universe soundtrack. I enjoyed some of those covers more than these but there’s also an equal amount of betters on here. The Beatles have never really been my thing, but I’ve been itching to listen to this album knowing it would be on the list.
Whoa, rather big one from the Beatles, eh? This one's the highest ranked album on this site, so it's been a long time coming. I've never listened to this in full, but of course I recognize a lot of tracks on here. Plenty of bangers, but also some skips for me. They oscillate between good, solid hits and some weirdo tracks that for me just don't work. I definitely wouldn't put this as high as Revolver, and I think Sgt. Pepper's is probably better too for committing to the weird concept. This one has a degree of variety that seems aimless, in a way that it feels more like a compilation than an actual album. The balancing act between variety and cohesion isn't always perfectly pulled off, even by the Beatles. Still, the highs are high enough and frequent enough that I can't deny it's a great album (even if it's parts are greater than the sum). An undeniable dose of classic hits is great, even if it's padded with a little filler. Favorite tracks: Here Comes the Sun, Come Together, Oh Darling, I Want You, The End, Her Majesty Polythene Pam, Octopus' Garden. Album art: Iconic. I recreated this for a work photo once, and I was the barefoot Paul in that scenario. It's all coming together. 4.5/5

I Want You is probably my favorite Beatles song ever. I like how everything flows together on the B side. Sun King is an obvious nod to Albatross from Fleetwood Mac. What's not to like about this album? The Golden Slumbers -> The End is one the most fantastic endings to album of all time, Harrison gets more songwriting time on this album with two slaps: Something and Here comes the sun. Also worth noting: we previously listened to A Hard Day's Night, which came out in 1964. This album, five years later, is completely unrecognizable from that era of Beatles. Five years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Name another band which had such a rapid career arc. You can't!

Been a long time since I've listened to it start to finish.
Always a classic, even if the Beatles are sometimes regarded as the pumpkin spice lattes of these “best album” lists. Honestly the transition from Polythene Pam to She Came in Through the Bathroom Window is one of the best of all time.
There's something about albums recorded by bands fraught with tension - more often than not they end up being shit, but once in awhile you get something like Abbey Road or Rumours. "Come Together" is a fantastic opening salvo, and the immediate switch of gears into "Something" is a nice touch. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is... "Maxwell's Silver Hammer." Not the finest moment in The Beatles catalogue, nor their history. "Octopus's Garden" was one of my early favourites when I first started exploring the lads from Liverpool. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a BEAST! Billy Preston is an incredible addition to the group here. "Here Comes The Sun" led to one of my favourite Nina Simone recordings. "Golden Slumbers" is one of my favourite later life/deep cut discoveries. Five-star album through and through. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" can be forgiven for the fact that this album also brought us McLemore Avenue by Booker T & The M.G.'s and George Benson's The Other Side of Abbey Road.

All across the album, there’s incredibly strong songwriting, and some killer melodies. You can tell that the band is really just having fun on this album, and the playfulness is just refreshing. Even though they don’t take themselves completely seriously, there’s serious strength behind these songs, with “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” being an especially dense listen. All in all, just a mixture of sweet and powerful tracks. Faves: I Want You (She’s So Heavy), The End, Sun King, Come Together, Maxwell’s Silver Hammer

Ладно, первым делом стоит сказать, что мне действительно понравилось, они определённо заслуживают похвалы, потому что записанные на этом альбоме песни звучат действительно хорошо, хоть и слегка заезженно. Здесь стоит обратить внимание на довольно трепетное отношение к деталям - небольшие звуковые дополнения на некоторых треках создают впечатление того, что весь этот альбом записывался с большим трудом и любовью, иначе не объяснить эту простую гениальность, которая слышится в инструментах из трека к треку. Наверное как раз из-за этой простоты людям и нравятся Битлз. К вокалу и тексту тоже нет никаких претензий, всё было на высоте и после прослушивания у меня остался тёплый след на душе, чем может похвастаться не каждый альбом. (8.5)

I dunno, its the Beatles innit. One of their best albums in my opinion, it doesn't have any of those weird jangly irritating tracks some of the other albums have.

Simply one of the top 5 albums of all time. From 'She's So Heavy' onwards, this is a sublime medley taking the listener of a journey displaying The Beatles at the height of their powers.
Cute album, the guitar/drum beats are simple, and mostly the same throughout the album, my favorite song is def Something. The funny anecdote: The song Carry that weight got stuck on repeat while I was at the gym lmao.
Love this album, of course. I forgot how much I liked some of the songs.

This is the Beatles album I've been waiting for. It's the perfect mix of the Beatles experimental and songwriting genius sides. The opening track, Come Together, is the perfect example of this. They may have been struggling to work together at this stage, but individually each Beatle was on top form for this album. Here Comes the Sun and Something are arguably George's two best songs, I Want You (She's So Heavy) is classic Lennon, and Paul did a great job with the medley that forms most of Side 2. Even Octopuses Garden is Ringo doing Ringo to perfection. The Fab Four living up to the hype. Rating: 5/5 Playlist track: Come Together Date listened: 13/12/22
What can I say that hasn’t been said? I will say, there’s a couple songs on here that really made me think about knocking it to a 4/5 (I’m looking at you, Maxwell) however the rest of the album more than makes up for a couple silly ones. Iconic song after iconic song. The last 3 songs are such an experience. The build into Carry That Weight makes me want to SCREAM every single time. A gorgeous album.

One of the best ever. Big fan of all Beatles, esp. Rubber Soul and after. Abbey Road one of the best. Favorite lyric: “And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
A serious contender for the best album of all time. I have heard this entire album plenty of times and hear the songs present often, and while I have pages I could write about the amount of amazement this album holds within, I worry that this may have a word limit, and so I will keep it brief in saying this is just immaculately made, and while nothing here is my favorite Beatles' song, many come close. Perhaps not my favorite Beatles' album, but easily the best, and no matter what a 5 star. One of the few albums that deserves the overwhelming amount of praise it gets.

"Come Together", "Something", "Here Comes The Sun", "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", the 'medley' at the end... So many great tracks. Plus, the Beatles basically invented the "modern" album, with this one and the white one, plus *Rubber Soul*, *Sgt. Pepper* and *Revolver*. How can one *not* include those on a list like this? It’s good, but personally I don’t understand how it seems to be ranked as the Beatles best album. I don’t think it even makes the top 3.
My second favorite (after Sergeant Pepper's). There is some validity to the criticism that it's too much Paul and not enough John, but it has some absolute classics "Here Comes the Sun", "Something", "She Came in through the Bathroom Window".

I probably still like Revolver and Rubber Soul a little better, but they're all 5 stars in my book. Great album. George was really starting to come into his own and contribute in a meaningful way. I know they took some slack for all of the effects and instrumentation, but they were really pioneers in retrospect.

Started off well enough. I would even go so far as to say that if you swap out the obnoxious "Oh, Darling" and the monotonous "I Want You" for the slightly more dynamic "Because", you'd have a superior A-side. But alas, starting from "You Never Give Me Your Money" onwards, the album devolves into utter nonsense, most of it bordering on unlistenable. The Beatles are a grossly overrated band, and the unfinished, thrown together mish-mash of songs on the B side here is perfect evidence of that. I award this album two pairs of silver hammers, to knock the pomposity out of each of the member's heads. ⚒⚒

Abbey Road is an album that I bought on vinyl one summer in Croatia. It was a cheap pressing, but I certainly loved it and played it often. Nice to revisit songs like Maxwell's Hammer, Come Together and so many other classics. You Never Give Me Your Money is by far and away my favorite track though not the most popular one. Still a great album.
I've never realized it until listening to this album just now that four individual tracks, starting with Sun King are not all just one. Until now I thought all four were one continuous track. [Sun King / Mean Mr. Mustard / Polythene Pam / She Came in Through the Bathroom Window] Not the best Beatles album in my opinion, side one and side two have different vibes. Regardless, this good enough to make this list. Hard to imagine ever scoring the Beats at a less than five. But this rides just above the cusp of a four.
Near the end of The Beatles, the band delivers some of their best (“Come Together,” “I Want You (She’s So Heavy,” “Here Comes the Sun”), and some I could do without (“Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” and “Octopus’s Garden”). The album cover may be the most iconic in history, but the album itself doesn’t add up to more than its hits.
This could nearly be a 5 star album on the strength of the two George Harrison songs alone. Adding Come Together, Oh Darling!, and Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight seals the deal. The rest is the most delicious gravy possible. The genius that is the bulk of side 2 is as audacious as it is tuneful. It just doesn’t get better than this.
The first side + Here Comes The Sun is an immaculate opening to the album. I love the sound of Come Together, but paying more attention this time, the verse lyrics appear non-sensical. Something is something of a masterpiece by George Harrison. Then there is a five song run, Because through Polythene Pam, on the second half that I could do without. Thankfully it picks back up with She Came In Through The Bathroom Window. Cutting those 5 mediocre tracks out would boost this album to the top.

The Beatles ditching some of the experimental stuff and returning to making a great album with a few janky tunes. Some of the songs on here are up there with the best they ever did. Hard to argue.

I Want You (she's so heavy). Two of Georgie's Best. Because. I Want You (she's so heavy). Remembering watching Ringo and George working through Octopuses Garden in its infancy on Get Back. Oh Darlin. The medley! I Want You (she's so heavy)!!!! Seriously that song is just the best.

Is het lekkere muziek om te luisteren? Ja. Is het origineel en creatief? Ja? Staan er hits op? Ja. Zitten er nummers tussen die je raken? Ja. Zitten er nummers tussen met sentimentele waarde? Ja. Heeft het invloed gehad in de muziekgeschiedenis? Ja. Is zelfs de hoes een icoon? Ja. Dan is dit een Klassiek Album Dat Je Gehoord Moet Hebben Voordat Je Onder De Groene Zoden Gaat Liggen. Wat Eric er ook van mag zeggen. Geheel terzijde, uit de lijst is dit het eerste album dat ik a) wel eens gehoord had, b) in mijn bezit heb, c) als LP heb, d) als picture disc heb (en daardoor niet eens vaak geluisterd).
Van kinds af aan gebombardeerd onder het mom van cultuur met saaie dingen. Je moet Reve lezen dat is de top van de literatuur, je moet The Godfather kijken, want dat is dé filmklassieker. Én minimaal 70 van de 100 muzieklessen op school kreeg je de Beatles voor je plaat. Want dat is het beste wat er zou zijn op muziekgebied. Waag het allemaal maar niets te vinden, en je bent een cultuurbarbaar. Andere smaken worden niet makkelijk geaccepteerd. Tja, dat is dan maar zo. Ik heb toch een andere smaak. Ik vind het allemaal saai, zelfs zo saai dat het me op mijn zenuwen werkt. Ik kan mij voorstellen dat anderen het wel aardig vinden. Maar de hoge ratings van dit soort dingen lijken mij meer bepaald door de (onbewuste) culturele plicht om het goed te moeten vinden. Maar goed. Dit album zag ik natuurlijk wel aankomen. En je moet het een kans geven. Gelukkig is het eerste nummer een aardige start. Dat helpt mijn mindset. Net op tijd, want nummer 2 is exact zo'n voorbeeld van op mijn zenuwen werkend saai. Ik ben het hele album doorgekomen en trof her en der toch een aardig nummer aan. Maar meer dan 2 sterren. Ik zou echt niet weten waarom...

This is one of the best albums. What a way to go out on a high note. It's always hard to pick a favorite Beatles album but this one is always in the top 3 or 4. There are many who say that the two George Harrison songs are the best two songs on the album. Depending on my mood, I would agree. The medley is just fabulous. One son that has really grown on me over the years and has become one of my favorite Beatles songs is I want you. The way they layer on the guitars and the bass playing is just incredible as usual.
What needs to be said? This is one of the best albums ever made.

-"Come Together is just a killer song with an iconic drumbeat. Idk the interaction between the drums and bass makes a dope beat. The lyrics are totally nonsensical as far as I know but they are still dope. -"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is an absolute banger I don't care how goofy it is -The jump in intensity in "Oh Darling!" is dope. Also the yelling bits are mega intense and very fun to sing along to -OI OI GOOD JOB RINGO "Octopus's Garden" IS A RIGHT JOLLY CHUNE, VERY SPLENDID AND ABSOLUTELY SILLY SCENARIO (octopuses don't have gardens, so it is very silly) -"I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a super heavy tune with a great breakdown. I love the shredding keyboards -The drum, bass,and cool voice after the kick in in "You Never Give Me Your Money" is cool. The guitar like 2/3 of the way in has cool licks as well -"Mean Mr Mustard" and "Polythene Pam" are totally bangers. Both a quick, right little songs with lots going on that just get stuck in your head -"The End" is just an absolute banger with such a good drum solo from Ringo (as much as I hate to admit it) and some sweet guitar shredding. -"The End" is really an incredible way to end their recording career and the final line being "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" is really beau-OH SHIT out of nowhere here's "Her Majesty" to screw that whole idea up /sidenote -The medley isn't quite the smooth medley that everyone claims. It has some great song transitions, but also has some starts and stops. I'd argue it's more like this: (slashes denote 2 different songs, arrow means they flow together) -You Never Give Me Your Money/Sun King>Mean Mr Mustard>Polythene Pam>She Came In Through The Bathroom Window>Golden Slumbers>Carry That Weight>The End/Her Majesty /end sidenote -For me, this album's songs are in 4 tiers: 1) Godly songs: "Come Together," "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," "Octopus's Garden," "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," "Mean Mr Mustard," Polythene Pam," and "The End" 2) Good Songs: "Oh! One of the greatest albums ever put to vinyl. A real mastepiece. Some of The Beatles' best tracks are on this album, even the more silly songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer are pretty good here. However the absolute best part of this album is The Meddley. A true classic in every meaning of that word.

Like my album yesterday, this is my third time listening to this one. I feel conflicted about my rating on this album. I’m still at the beginning of the list, so I’m still figuring out my rating system. As much as I think that this album is great and obviously deserves to be on this list, I just don’t like much of the songs on it. My ratings so far have all been personal to me, so I’m just going to give it a 3.
Another album where I'm not sure what else can be said. This is probably my favorite Beatles album (either this or Revolver) and it's fantastic, but I think it's important to acknowledge that it isn't perfect. The Beatles were so highly and blindly acclaimed that they were able to get away with a couple of actual duds ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Oh! Darling") on what's considered one of the best albums of all time. "Octopus' Garden" is quite silly too, but I love that one. Obviously though, "Come Together", "Something", and the entire second side of the album are solid gold. I had also forgotten how much I love "I want You (She's So Heavy)"!

I've listened to this one plenty before getting this prompt. The Beatles were experts at making an album with no lulls in production from one song to the other, and Abbey Road is clearly no different. Also, I'm very partial to the ending medley.
Incredible album. The variety of types of music present is really interesting. I Want You is a song that is almost shocking to listen to and I wish I could have been around to hear this album when it came out. Not my favorite Beatles album, but it's still a great listen.

It's another 5 star Beatles albums. It's almost boring rating Beatles albums, they're pretty much all going to be 5 stars. Two of the best songwriters of all time in the same band, groundbreaking recording techniques, and a discography that is top-notch all the way through almost makes it unfair. Some of their best songs are on this one.
"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" - probably one of the worst things ever committed to vinyl. Then again, "Come Together", "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun" - all fantastic. Seems like George was really on form on this one. Macca not so much.
