2* as Christ this hasn’t aged well..
æ, ekkert spes. frægu lögin eru fín. einhæft og barnalegt. fær 2,5.
Shady just don't give a fuck. Very clear with the lyrics 🙄, influential record tho. Good beats, some good songs. But just not entirely for me. 2.5 I'd say
pretty unpleasant - "my name is" is super hooky and sounds super crisp - just wish it was de la soul flowing over the top with something positive
I get that he’s playing a character and all and the beats are good but god damn I can only listen to so many songs about raping and beating women😂
Awesome talent choosing to churn out murder fantasies and bad jokes. I just can’t get behind the lyrics; funny quips mingle with stuff that makes me feel gross. Call me a Gen Z snowflake prude I guess. I will admit that Eminem surely has some consciousness of what he’s doing here (see Role Model, or especially Stan on the next album), but that’s more of a justification than meaningful context. More removed from the lyrics, it’s generally just kind of same-y and repetitive. Some good beats, some mid beats. It’s a young and hungry rapper on a lot of drugs spewing out a bunch of gross stuff, self-aware or otherwise. Best song: My Name Is
It an album I have ever enjoyed
The talent is undeniable, but the edgelord confrontationism is something I grew out of a looooong time ago.
While I really don't like hiphop music, there's something a tad easier on the ear with Eminem's music that makes his generally tolerable. However, what completely put me off this time around were the lyrics. I don't know if I grew soft or whether culture really changed so much in a couple of decades, but I just couldn't stand listening to this ongoing barrage of insults to humanity.
Cartoon hip-hop that caused a fuss way back. Yeah maybe I'm a bit priggish but it doesn't amuse my and i just find it annoying. Hate all skits too. 2 for the guile of the production.
12 year old me ate this shit up. 23 year old me is trying not to cry at the corny ass lyrics. slim shadys corny voice and character is sooooo funny (negative). no i will not feel bad for a cringe white boy. this album has my face permanently ayo'd.
"Meet Jon, 38 years old. After being prompted by a coffee-table-book list of supposedly essential music, he's about to listen to an entire Eminem album, no skips. And suddenly his conscience comes into play:"
Hyvin controversial.. heh en ymmärrä ironiaa.. heh.. concept.. heh... Mitä hittoa.... Hyvää rappia.. kiitos em.... Skaalan kuntoon kun hommaat vielä.. riimit löytyy kuitenkin.. saksan kaveri... saksasta.. kehitti u2 raketin.. käytti saksa maailmansodissa... ainstain... on.. ..nappaa riimit... If you took away all of the INSANE sexism, how much of this would be left? 🤔 It's a shame because I like his flow and production, but a good half of this album is sickening and disturbing, like the musical equivalent of torture porn basically. No thanks.
Pretty embarrassing for all concerned tbh
Dr. Dre production is often worth hearing, but the Slim Shady embodies a certain "edgy" attitude that feels more dated as time goes on. I've mentioned this before in my notes of The Marshall Mathers LP, but this isn't me trying to "cancel" Eminem or be "politically correct", it just comes across as trying to be so offensive that it's uninteresting. Aside Dre-produced songs, I will also say that 97' Bonnie & Clyde has the most interesting moments on the whole album, telling a chilling story in a compelling way. I wish the rest of the album was that creative. Too many mids and not enough highs to make this album worthwhile.
Not my cup o coffee. Like most in this genre, the stinging lyrics which rise above the ‘music’, don’t hold much longer than a few short years and are very moment-in-time.
Just feel edgy to be edgy.
I don't really like eminem, too many negative associations growing up in the aughts.
If not for 'My Name Is', Eminem's debut album would never be remembered as fondly as it is in the history of hip hop. It's influence is undeniable, but its quality certainly is. I'll begin positively; Eminem's pen game was and is miles ahead of most rap artists throughout the history of the genre. His ability to manipulate words to create rhymes and flow from bar to bar is undeniably magnificent. Features from Dr Dre and Royce Da 5'9 are both brilliant, particularly Dr Dre on 'Guilty Conscience' which has this hilarious call and response structure. It goes without saying, but 'My Name Is' is one of the greatest hip hop songs of all time. Jam packed with charisma, a forever catchy chorus and is a fuck ton of fun to listen to. 'Bad Meets Evil' and 'Just Don't Give A Fuck' are also highlights. That's about it for positives though. I can't think of an album that has aged more poorly in recent memory. It's only been just over 20 years, yet this record is so out of date. The repetitive subject matter, Eminems inability to write great hooks and the far too frequent skits are all major flaws for this record, yet they are nothing in comparison to how blatantly Eminem is trying way too hard to be polarising. I get it, you're the only white guy in the entire genre who's properly made it in the big time by this point, but that doesn't mean every song has to be a graphic recount of homicidal or rape focused fantasy. We get it, your wife hates you and your daughter doesn't like you, but aren't there far better ways of expressing these feelings than through fantasies about killing her as heard on '97 Bonnie and Clyde? 'If I Had' and 'I'm Shady' demonstrate his inability to write a good hook, and 'Cum On Everybody' shows how badly his comedy has aged too. Eminems delusion is summed up perfectly on 'Still Don't Give A Fuck', with the line; "But if I offended you, good, 'cause I still don't give a fuck". He can uphold this facade all he wants, but it's abundantly clear that he desperately needs to offend his audience to capitalise on his shot at success. Good on him as it's obviously worked, but that doesn't excuse how unenjoyable this record is. I wouldn't consider myself offended by the Slim Shady LP, rather I'm astounded that an album of such low quality is held in such high regard, when in reality he's got nothing interesting to say. The 2 star rating is carried by 'My Name Is' and the features as mentioned earlier, because they are just that good.
I can see why some people enjoyed it - some catchy & even enjoyable beats/instrumentation, (mostly) intelligible lyrics and fun character voices. But I just can't get past my reaction to the violence that's embedded in almost every track, whether real or fantasy I don't care.
That was enough Eminem for a while.
On the one hand, this was revolutionary at the time, the concepts, the flow, the persona, all sent shock-waves throughout the music industry. But as a comprehensive work, it's long and daunting, and the jokes get stale, and the filler is bloaty. I give it 2 farts out of 5 💨💨
Good but I'm not mad about it
The "I'm not a very nice person" schtick wears thin after about 3 minutes so this album gets tiring fast. Good production, good rapping ability, boring as hell 'shocking' lyrics. Ho hum.
Still can't get through an entire hip hop album, but from what I could hear, this one is quite funny. I'm impressed. 2/5
This takes me back to playing halo at 14 years old and listening to my friends brother shout slurs down the mic on xbox live while my friend recites my name is from memory fav song: my fault least fav song: still dont give a fuck
Slim Shady was a mirror to misogyny. Eminem wasn't endorsing it as far as I saw. He was playing a character (maybe out of self-presevation) and just exposing the fucked up nature of it all. He was consumed by it b/c it consumes everyone and we just pretend like it doesn't exist. This is cringe. This is horrible. Even at the time, the satire aspect was clear but instead of that being the aspect picked up... people embraced it as lifestyle?! Like people that glorify Rick & Morty when it is meant to be a breakdown on the awful parts of us. When a mirror is held up to our worst parts that we could actually improve, we say "fuck it! that's my favorite part!" and that is the real legacy of this album. Unfortunate.
Sounded like

This album has aged very, very badly. The lyrics: "which Spice Girl I want to impregnate" dates it. I found it hard work following the stories. Technically it's very polished and the vocal delivery is faultless. I'm very open-minded but the lyrics got the better of me before I reached the halfway point.
That was a struggle for me to get through on a zoom intensifies kind of day with the only music being this album which I did not enjoy, although it had a few interesting moments.
Doesn't hold up over the years. A product of its time. Some of the lyrics are good but somewhat repetitive and most of the beats are fairly simple.
I mostly like Eminem but not this version.
This seemed to go on forever. Really not that many good tracks, and can definitely leave the skits behind as well. There's definitely better Eminem albums around
honestly i was expecting to absolutely hate this album but it wasn’t as awful as i thought it was. i found myself vibing to it? obviously it wasn’t great but i didn’t despise.
Over rated
Idk not good
nah
Well, it’s still not for me. I can see why it’s for others maybe. The cartoonish imagery and adolescent rhymes maybe would have been cooler/funnier if I was younger.
I got three quarters of the way in the album and had to put on the miles davis album out of sheer desperation
He's talented but its not really for me
Dude, that kid is going to fall into the ocean while you're standing there looking cool!
Well,...I tried. I really did. I had heard maybe two songs of his before, but I don't recall hearing any from this album. I listened to this and although at times I did like some of the dark humor, I was mostly bored. Even if he intends it ironically or for some other purpose, I tend to have a negative response to anyone who has to put effort into declaring that they don't care what other people think. I kind of figure if one truly doesn't care they don't shout it out because they aren't even thinking about it. But that's just one teeny aspect of all this. Maybe sometime I'll appreciate this album, but it just didn't interest me all that much.
Grrrrrrrr. Sigo sin aguantarlo. No descubrí nada interesante.
Underwhelming
Meh...
No me ha enganchado. No me ha llamado la atención. No creo que lo vuelva a escuchar.
This is more horrible than I remembered but I like the beats. This project is really making me realise that I do not enjoy skits at all on albums, probably because I am boring and hate comedy.
Don’t care didn’t listen + you’re white
Naja based King gewesen damals.
If I had a magic wand, I’d make the world suck my dick with no condom on.
Not loving it, but it's quite good with the really dark stories and themes together with silly words, mouthfarts and a really non-serious attitude. Great album for the list, but I'm not going to listen to any of it again other than "My Name Is" of course. 2
It's catcy and amusing in places, but extremely juvenile and cringey. In 2021 some of the lyrics are very questionable. Guilty Conscience - ooshk. 2/5. Special shout out for Eminem at Reading Festival 2001 being the most cringe worthy set I've ever seen. No, I'm not 'amped' (whatever that means), and I don't really care if you pop that pill or not.
Growing up they told me my autism was a flawtism
There a couple of tracks on this I could listen to, but as a whole album it's too much. The instrumentals get repetitive, the vocals are so cringey in places and I really don't like the random spoken word sections
Better than expected but still didn't really enjoy it.
Remembered it as being better.
Kinda fun but also a bit long and vague
Meh. I enjoyed 'My name is' and 'Still don't give a fuck', but other than that there was nothing that I really liked on here.
Liked a few songs but overall pretty grating
Too long. Chatting about his life I'm just not fussed
surely a good hip-hop album for somebody who is into it, but a drag for me.
3/10. Pretty sure this gave me an ear infection
Role Reversal! https://youtu.be/PniJM5IwXfE?si=ZWF-yG9Z8L8FDEHm&t=1317 This album makes me feel like I'm being interviewed by Stephen Colbert on public access TV.
It's Eminem... Specific rap style love or hate it, maximum edginess, good beats
Don't like rap very much
Don't know how to rate this album. I loathe rap - speaking doggerel very quickly over a drum machine beat and a sample of someone else's creativity is NOT music. It might be poetry, but if that's what you're after, try John Cooper Clarke to see how it should really be done. Having said that, Eminem is the best of a bad bunch. 'My name is' is obviously a cut above - but the competition isn't strong.
Love the Labie Siffre sample on My Name Is. Eminem writes such dark, but humorous lyrics. The anti hero, Slim Shady is such a nasty character and if you listen to Guilty Conscience, where Dre plays the Angel and Eminem plays Slim, the Devil, it is evident that he is just a character. Shady seemed to have the whole world against him. The whole album is really a cautionary tale of how messed up a person can become from trauma and how it spreads from them to the people around them. There is no doubt that Eminem is a fantastic wordsmith and a talented rapper. His delivery is conversational, but fast and never sounds contrived or prewritten. Some great tracks and samples, but just too long for me. Half the album could have been dropped.
Meh
Decent beats. Nothing revolutionary, but a good vibe nevertheless. Too many references to sexual assault for me to enjoy.
I acknowledge his talent as a rapper, but it’s not for me.
Bueno...
I don't know? Somewhere between 0 and 3 stars depending on the song and how closely I'm listening
I’m really over Eminem and this album was incredibly boring if it wasn’t so annoyingly and provocatively obscene.
Man, this is so dark. It's been a long time since I've listened to this straight through, and it was hard to get through. Later records had the same themes, but more replayability.
Rap
Not a big Eminem fan. A few good songs, most awful.
Not an Eminem fan
First time I've ever heard a complete Eminem album and I'm not sure I will ever do so again. At least, not in my own home.
I did not expect that I could listen to the whole album. But some lirics were intresting. Not that I will listen to this album again. But it was different to what I thought it would be.
Wasn't expecting much, there were some songs that stood out and made the album better only to be brought down by some popular ones
Whoa boy, it's been awhile since I listened to early Eminem, and this has not aged well. Definitely could not be made today. That being said, his lyricism is top notch and there's strong production. Eminem Show remains my go-to album.
8 Mile is an amazing movie, but this album kinda sucks. Some songs are good (Rock Bottom is pretty great), but I find the lyrics incredibly annoying, and the instrumentals and samples are just ok.
Noooooooooo!!! I have no fucking clue how eminem was able to get popular, this mfer makes middle schooler music (derogatory.) Every bar is either edgy, horny, or corny. Like, perhaps this dude was sounding fresh in the 90s but hip hop has come so far and this shit sounds like dookie compared to so much of modern hip hop. JK, I listened to all of it, it's probably just fucking buttcheeks amongst 90s rap too. Brother is misogyny-maxing in every single song, does he write a single bar about women that doesn't threaten violence towards them?. HOW IS THE SONG FEATURING HIS DAUGHTER AS A SAMPLE ABOUT MURDERING HER MOM???????? ohmfg shut up... 1/5 he's trying too hard
Just can't listen to this: the lyrics are foul and the music isn't good enough to distract you from that fact. No interest in Eminem.
pass
Juvenile, nihilistic, and pointless. Truly an exhausting listen that’s stuffed to the gills with all of the worst elements of rap at the time. Unnecessary skits and recorded phone calls, extreme descriptions of violence that serve no real purpose, and language that makes you cringe pad the run time of this album. There are future Eminem songs I like, but I have no interest in listening to anything from this album again.
I originally wrote a long analysis of this album and Eminem, but I don’t think it really deserves it. It can be summed as: this (as is most of em’s music) was a missed opportunity to utilize the shock factor to criticize societal norms or put forward a message in a deep way. Instead, it’s just a bunch of fantasies about killing women with no discernible message or purpose. It’s a shame because he was obviously incredibly talented and some of these beats and flows were so catchy. There’s a place for shock factor and brutal imagery, but not without meaning, which is exactly what this album lacks.
Hip Hop, 61 eme album =>1/5
I´m just gonna listen to the ones that are not explict 97´BaC remenber me why i used liked Eminem, buti heard this thta reminds of moans and i can´t stand that. 1 out of 10
Eminem is a pretty good rapper and the production by Dr Dre is great, but my god the actual lyrics just make this hard to listen to
Even if you ignore the misogyny, the excessive violence, the slurs, the general edginess... It's just really awful to listen to. Skit skit skit women are all bitches skit one fish two fish red fish blue fish skit
Will The real Slim Shady please sit down.
Gah what a thoroughly unenjoyable slog that was. Prodigious rapping talent and meat and potato beats all in the service of a deeply bitter, nihilistic, arrogant and toxic worldview. Here the 27 year raps about, among other things: date raping teenagers, butchering his wife (more than once), killing his child (I think) and raping a woman to death. And yes I know it's all meant to be a big joke, or a horror movie or whatever, but at least when ICP do the same thing they have the ridiculous goofiness and self knowing wink to kind of pull it off. This on the other hand is a void where charm does not exist, and despite it's many attempts at humour, neither does wit. All that's left is bone deep unlikeability.
😴
rubbish
A bit of preamble before I've even listened to this album - this is my second Eminem record even though I'm only 40 or so albums into this project. The first one was The Marshall Mathers LP - A record I found dull, childish, and lacking any real meaning or artistry at least from Eminem himself. To me when you get through the shock value of his lyricism, it was just Eminem using angsty teenage obscenities not to spice up the substance of the album, but to replace them entirely. Like, they're fine to use, but only if you put them onto something I can chew on in the first place. The Wikipedia summary for The Slim Shady LP states the following: "The Slim Shady LP contains cartoonish depictions of violence and heavy use of profanity, which Eminem described as horror film-esque, in that it is solely for entertainment value." which honestly, sounds like more of what I hated on MMLP. That being said, I'll keep in mind this is a satire album and see if that makes it any more excusable compared to MMLP, a record that by all accounts was Eminem treating himself as seriously as he could at the time. Looking at the tracklist, the length and the song titles of this LP and my previous experiences with Eminems other album on this list, it is safe to say that I'm not leaning optimistic. Now for the actual review: You can see from my listening notes later that I did actually enjoy some parts of this album, as opposed to the MMLP. It feels like there were some parts where Eminem had actual ideas to write songs about and ran out of his daily allotted uses of curse words, and managed to turn out some decent songs. Another high point as always is the production, courtesy of Dr. Dre of course. That being said, the parts I hated I REALLY hated. It also aggravates me that this came before the Marshall Mathers LP in the sense that- we could have been in the timeline where Eminem expanded on the ideas that were actually compelling here, instead of appealing to teenagers who listen to him only as a protest against their parents, which is what the Marshall Mathers LP felt like. At least I'm done with Eminem for the next 1000 or so albums I'll be listening to but he hasn't made a fan out of me and his enduring popularity will forever be a mystery. Listening notes: I'm so done with skits in hip hop albums The best part of "My Name Is" after you go through puberty is introducing you to "I Got The" by Labi Siffre Alright so I have to admit; I relate to Guilty Conscience. I've had a few experiences where I've had the devil and angel on my shoulders. That being said, it ends with the good guy agreeing with the bad guy? It lost me there since that isn't how it works - people always have an internal struggle to the very end of and even after making any kind of moral or ethical decision. I'll be curious to see if this resolves by the end of the album, even though I get a pretty distinct feeling this "plot" will be dropped right about now at the start of the next song... We get it Eminem, you got brain damage, I didn't want to say anything myself I can relate to If I Had too, I'm also tired of this music Bonnie and Clyde are not people a father and daughter should relate to in ANY way By the way this album feels like Eminem is saying “this is chaotic and shocking… but take it seriously… but also don’t… but also do...” I can see why parents didn't want their kids listening to this but it wasn't the obscenities. The consequences are apparent today - there are people that think this is good music My Fault is the first song I can stand since it does feel like just a guy telling a dark story funnily, but it could have ended just on the punchline instead of the snuff audio at the end Rock Bottom is also good, it's almost as if adding a point to a song adds up to a good song Just Don't Give a Fuck too, this is a nice roll and the roll is over, As The World Turns returns to the painful Eminem status quo style Did he just say "by the way I have herpes and do drugs" just to say it? Eminem, I get that you don't give a fuck that I don't like you, I just want you to know it's not because I'm offended, you're just not as deep as you think you are. Seriously, two "Don't Give a Fuck" songs on one album? Enjoy your money and fame and whatever you want if it comes at the cost of making the musical equivalent of cold McDonalds fries.
So less than 10 minutes in and this is already rife with misogyny, violence, homophobia, and every single stereotype that makes hip hop bad music. I mean who writes a song about drugging and raping a 15 year old? I honestly don't know how people listen to this and connect with it at all, much less praise it as one of the best albums ever. Yes, he can rhyme things with other things, that's not genius. This is a 13 year old kid who found out he can swear and say shocking things and get famous for it. I was really hoping that I'd find a hip hop album that I genuinely liked while doing this project, and this one was one that I had heard way back in the day and kind of hoped I would like it now. No dice. This is awful and aged worse than milk in a plastic cup placed in the sun. If this album was released now, it would be so widely panned we'd never hear from Eminem again. Well, that might not be true, he'd probably be playing with Kid Rock at GOP events. I'm 600+ albums in and this is the first one I had to turn off (that I remember) before it was over. 0/5 and please god let's strike this from the record of Humanity's creative output.
I N C E L (plus, it's shitty rap)
Really not my cup of tea. Unpleasant
Having to listen to this in full should be considered a hate crime. The misogyny and violence is astounding and as I’m not a teenage boy or incel I did not enjoy That aside the wordplay, rhymes, flow, and beats are mediocre at best. Very same-y and I feel there are much better examples of the genre that don’t appeal to 14 year old edge lords I don’t understand why this is on the list at all
No
Didn’t listen to it cause it’s mid
Reveal your middle school Id, cool I guess?
its a little dry
Zajebantski PSA & smo že v znanem "My Name Is". As the name suggests, je sicer cel album kao s perspektive Slim Shadyja, alter ega. The skits so brezvezni?! "I can't change the way I think" (iz, thank fuck, zadnjega komada, "Still Don't Give a Fuck") - I think you can. And should, če je tko fucked up k na temu albumu.
I did not like this album as a teenager when it came out and relistening is not going to suddenly make me like it now. The 8 Mile era Eminem is tolerable, but his Slim Shady era is obnoxious, juvenile, and misogynistic.
Super inappropriate, didn't find any redeeming qualities
Whilst Eminem can write a catchy pop tune (my name is) and the Dr Dre production is good - I don't like his lyrical delivery and I find the violence/ misogyny of the lyrics pretty vile - don't really care that its tongue in cheek and he doesn't really mean it - there is a limit to how many times I can listen to a song about murdering girl friends/ wives.
I have a 13 year old son. He loves Eminem. Target audience. For the rest of us, this album is lame. Didn't like My Name Is when it was all over the radio in 1999. Still don't and nothing better on the rest of the album. Take the rapping out, and some of the tunes might be alright, but the lyrics are so lame. Being a horror fantasy doesn't make an excuse for it being lame.
It's getting kinda LATE It's a quarter after EIGHT I know I need to RATE it But I mf HATE it There that's another song sorted. I can do rhymes, me 😐
Gahhh there’s some great songs on here but pedophilic lyrics……
good
Music that sounds like it’s for children except that it upsells misogynist views and abuse towards women.
I recognise that I lack the context and the time to fully understand this album, but far out, this is not for me.
I gave 4 stars to the other Eminem album. This one’s a hard pass.
There is some wit, there are some tunes, but there’s also a world of misogyny, violence and cheap reach-for-the-shock-factor lyrics to undermine the whole thing and make you want to turn it off.
I cannot abide the misogyny
I dont get this sort of stuff at all. I turned it off.
While I can enjoy the odd Eminem track and album full of spoken word with a mixed bag of backing tracks is not my thing. The short skits seem the equivalent of unfinished ideas or just laziness.
A relief to have a different genre then the past few days of various rock outings Technically this is great. Dre’s production over Eminem’s flow is just so good, but I only really knew My Name Is and Guilty Conscience going into it I’ve had zero solo women in my list so far, and I feel getting this album before that is just rubbing it in my face. The misogyny and glee in the violence is properly off putting. I don't feel I'm in on whatever joke this is.
Got a few songs in and that was enough. Crass and edgy in a way that is only cool to 12 year olds, I’m sure Eminem has good albums but it certainly isn’t this one
had to fight for my life to get through this one eminem has always pissed me off for some reason cause he just looks so ew not surprisingly I didnt enjoy this album, it just sounds so CORNY and like he is trying to cosplay a rapper
I never liked Eminem and relistening to this didn't improve my opinion.
Oh my God I almost forgot how annoying Eminem's music is. It's frustrating too, he is easily one of the most talented rappers of all time, and he completely wastes it on this annoying cringy shit. His vocal style switches between silly and overly serious way too often and at random points, and don't even get me started on those stupid skits. I just don't understand what the appeal of this is on any level, I am aware of the fact that there is deeper messaging in the lyrics if you really read between the lines, but there is so much other better music that also has that quality without sacrificing the music itself actually being good.
Woof. The beats on this album are surprisingly tedious, but not as tedious as the lyrics. Eminem is probably the most overrated rapper of all time. This dude owes his career to being white and ripping off the Insane Clown Posse.
I fucking hate this record. It's an endurance test of puerile, edgelord bullshit. I'm glad he grew out of this phase, though I'm by no means a fan of his later stuff. What a waste of immense talent.
I liked this less than I expected
When you get past the hype and the talent displayed with the writing, one is left with a feel bad, destructive album that plays with murdering a mom and throwing her in the sea in front of her daughter. Destructive and disgusting and not worth a listen.
Horribly cringe lyrics that only a 13 year old boy going through an edgy phase would enjoy. Silly sound effects and voices make it sound like joke songs. I didn't think I would hate an Eminem album this much
As someone whose first language isn’t English, I can’t barely catch what he's saying. This album sounds like it's produced by a teenager who is being grounded by his parents for a week, then found a hip-hop instrumental CD in his drawer, and decides to rap over it.
Hip hop doesn't become music just because white kids rap. I listened to the first track briefly, recognized it from before, and still think it's crap, just like I did back then. I didn't need to listen to the rest. 1/5
This album is almost unlistenable, I really can't believe this got as popular as it did without there being huge unspoken swaths of mysogonist incels. It's really pretty atrocious. Eminem has a great flow, though he definitely sounds like a hick here at times haha, and the rhythms are pretty good, but damn I cannot get past the lyrics. Everytime he says something clever, it's sandwiched between him being pretty disgusting. I guess Brain Damage is my favorite here.
It’s as if the clangers dropped acid and recorded an LP. Worst album on here so far
Better than The Marshall Mathers LP, but still terrible. 1/5
The lyrics are juvenile and disgusting. Oh and Dr Dre is a garbage human.
I’m sorry but the levels of misogyny and takes on peadophilia and general attitude of this album makes it unlistenable. I don’t mind some Eminem tracks but do find a lot of his work pretty terrible - especially in the lyric content and attitude. I did see him live at Reading Festival years ago and he makes a terrible role model. Loads of kids in the crowd with their parents and he’s up on stage making jokes about women, sex and drugs - to be fair that’s less his problem and more the festival organisers scheduling him at a very much pre-watershed afternoon slot. I don’t mind rap and hip-hop but this album should never have made a 1001 best album list.
More one star misogyny.
This is immature, high school level, spoken word poetry. Eminem cannot sing or play an instrument. To call this music is an insult to musicians. This album could not finish fast enough for me. I feel dumber for having to listen to it.
This may have aged horribly, but I don't think I would have enjoyed this in 1999 either. I really don't care for the edgelord theme this album brings on. The skits are insufferable and the songs may as well be skits most of the time, so those are insufferable as well. There are some good parts to this, I generally like the beats and sometimes it feels like Eminem is actually about to say something meaningful. Before he comes back to 'kiss my ass' -esque lyrics. None of it that makes me want to listen to it again, I feel emberassed for even putting this album on. The first notes of the following album in the playlist were liberating.
There are probably more clever ways to be a misogynist but this was honestly just dumb
Silly? Yes. Idiotic? Yes. Turned off after 4 1/2 tracks.
"Role Model" firmly establishes this album as satirical, but unfortunately I knew a lot of kids growing up who took Slim Shady to be that role model, and that hinders my ability to enjoy this album. The beats are good and there are quite a few of the clever rhymes that make up Eminem's signature style, as well as a few moments such as "My Fault" which are actually pretty interesting, but I just can't get behind Slim Shady.
I actually like how it sounds but the lyrics are so hateful and vile that I can't really look past them. My daughter has a friend who also says mean things to get a reaction. He seems to have grown out of this...he is 8 years old.
Big fucking yikes! I remember the lyrics of this album being edgy and funny when it first came out and I was 18, but they are dripping with so much misogyny that I really don't enjoy them now. And I don't care how edgy you think you are, joking about justifying the raping of a child makes you a fucking piece of shit. 1/5
I knew that the run of great albums wouldn't last forever, but I was surprised that a total shit record like this made the list. This album exhibits all the worst traits of 90s albums, bloat, lack of creative ideas, misogyny, sophomoric "humor". Can I give negative stars?
the baby voice during 97 bonnie & clyde was surely enough provocation to throw him in jail but here we are. i now understand why my parents were so horrifically embarrassed that me and my siblings enjoyed the songs that we did. despite the parental warning this is just for 13 year old boys, which i imagine is about the mental age that buddy is working with. liked: my name is, and imagine this is being said with a gun to my head.
No way. Sorry. Not for me
This did not age well …. Like at all.
Couldn't do it. Misogyny jumps right out
Genuinely one of the corniest albums I’ve ever listened to, no interesting lyrics and once it becomes clear that the main point of the album is to say controversial things (after the opening) it just becomes a chore to get through.
Unable to listen to this for more than 5 minutes. Wanted to appreciate crackin talent but it's too much for me. I'm out!
mid 1 I enjoy dark humour, I'm happy to explore the plight of poverty stricken America. This fails to be either, it's just horrid
So, this is a genre I just don't get, and while I would not even view this as music, that may be more a reflection of my age, as opposed to my good taste, or maybe the other way to view it is, the absence of any taste by those who view this as music.....yes I am joking. I still do not care for it, at all, sorry.
I'm incredibly not interested in simple cheesy music loops with inane talking over the top. Seriously wondering what the appeal is here. 0.5/5.0: Unlistenable
Imagine a world where misogyny wasn’t profitable. We’re not in that world. I get it: you all hate us.
There are some Eminem songs I like, but this whole album annoyed the hell out of me. It grated on my nerves and put me in a bad mood. Why was it so popular?
1. public - 0 2. name - 2.5 3. guilty - 1 4. Brain - 1 5. Paul - 0 6. Had - 1 7. Bonnie - 1 8. Model - 1.5 9. Lounge - 0 10. Fault - 1.5 11. Ken - 0 12. Cum - 1.5 13. Rock - 1.5 14. Fuck - 1 15. Soap - 0 16. World - 0 17. Shady - 1 18. Evil - 1.5 19. Fuck - 1.5
nope
Couple of good tracks but it's mostly vitriolic lyrics set to repetitive boring beats, very difficult to listen to.
Occasionally funny but mostly uninteresting - doesn't have the atmosphere or energy of horror rap from the 90s and it's not charming in the way some silly / comedic rap can be. Doesn't really go anywhere
Nope.
Not an Eminem person
I didn’t enjoy listening at all. I listened to two songs and gave up, because the lyrics put me off. Especially the fact that in “Guilty Conscience” Eminem says weird things about an underage girl…even though I know it was staged
Eminem: The Slim Shady LP: This is ASS. Worse than the last rap album I listened to, which I also hated. Its repetitive, but eminem is fucking ANNOYING. He is not funny 90% of the time, though on the rare chance that he is its usually laugh at loud funny. Otherwise, he is fucking annoying, and he thinks rape is WAY funnier than it is. The songs are really boring and samey, and they are just not enjoyable to listen to at all. I hate this. All the lyrics make him just sound like an asshole and it rarely works. 2/10
Okay, the positive is that the production is stellar. However this album has aged like milk.
Vile
I like one song but the rest is just depressing. He whinges and moans. I haven't seen anyone hold this many grudges except for a certain cheeto-flavoured taco who will hopefully never release an album.
Dire
Another one I fast forwarded through. I’ve never liked Eminem. I don’t like the tone or timbre of his voice (like the way he actually sounds, it’s so like whiny and nasally) and I like his lyrics even less (obviously). I understand his influence but there’s just so much better rap out there. Like, basically all of it. (1.5 stars)
It's hard to imagine a time when these lyrics were seen as clever and satirical, rather than just absolutely fucked.
This could be one of the worst albums I've ever heard, an edgelord's wet dream. First album on the list where I didn't enjoy a single track enough to playlist it
One of the most nihilistic pieces of popular music I've heard in years. I understand its importance but this was not a pleasant listen.
Not that good IMHO
Lyrics are horrifying to me!
Even with the best of intentions, I cannot find anything to latch onto with this album.
Wow, long album. Bit of a has been. Was any of this ok at the time, don't think so. Violent lyrics that are just plain embarrassing now. Sort of music just encourages acts of anger and aggression. I didn't have the stomach to listen to all, or the time. Utter nonsense. Eminem, you were rubbish back then, and even worse now.
Fuck this edgelord bullshit, nearly didn't finish. Super frustrating because there's obviously a lot of talent on display and THAT'S what you choose to do with it? I know he got more mature over time but fuck this was a painful listen.
I wouldn't even be mad if it was offensive but good, but it's just dull, honestly.
This is like a flaming bag of dog poop on your front porch.
Kinda bummed that this really sucks so much. I remember not being as into this as others when it came out, but man, no wonder. Feel like there's very little redeeming qualities across the entire album.
This is the hip-hop version of South Park.
Not my sort of thing, I gave it a try but not for me.
I like later Eminem albums but this album sounds like it’s been written by a 13yr old edgelord
I can understand creating an alter ego to vent your frustrations. I'm not against an album satirically using excessive violence. I like songs where the narrators are flawed and I do think we have an insistence on reading all songs as autobiographical that we just don't have for other mediums. I don't think any of that makes it okay for the songs to be so misogynistic and homophobic. And adding your daughter's vocals to a song about murdering your (alter ego's) wife feels pretty personal to me. It felt very much like he was just saying the most shocking thing he could instead of actually saying anything funny, which I think is one of the laziest forms of comedy. Some of the beats were good but I spent the whole album cringing at the lyrics so I didn't enjoy any of it. I'm sure he does have the talent for wordplay that people say he does, but I don't want to listen to an album that hates women so much. It doesn't feel like it's taking the violence against women to the extreme to critique it, it feels like it's taking it to the extreme for the sheer fun of it. Very much felt like an album where no one considered that straight men aren't the only people who listen to music. I will say that while I found the song vile, there is something artistically interesting to me in the juxtaposition of the baby talk and the violence in '97 Bonnie & Clyde. I'm sure there's a way to play with that without being so misogynistic though. Fav song: ... My Name Is Least fav: '97 Bonnie & Clyde
George Carlin once said, "I can prove to you that rape is funny. Picture Porky Pig raping Elmer Fudd". Whether this offends me or not, at least I can tell it's a joke. Is Eminem coming from the same place when he raps about raping a fifteen year old girl after slipping her a roofie? And what does it say that it isn't exactly clear? I'm just asking questions. Anyway, I thought I would be giving this a high rating, even if only for the music and the technic, but no. When the lyrics aren't intentionally disgusting and offensive, they're mostly sophomoric and stupid. I didn't think the music was that great, and too many of the songs started sounding the same. Maybe Eminem's delivery is groundbreaking and great, but it feels wasted among the childish vulgarity. Unless I'm missing something. 1
Genuinely offensive at times. I know understand the adults who complained about this.
the storytelling is good, but i just can’t stand eminem. i can appreciate his contribution to rap, but this just isn’t my favorite
He does not like women much does he
Just could not get through this one. Seemed like an abrasive cartoon.
Rap is not my favorite genre, but I don't hate it either. Eminem is probably my favorite rapper, but it's the Eminem more than 10 years in the future of the one that created this album. The older Eminem has mellowed a bit and exorcised a few of his demons. This Eminem, hiding behind a Slim Shady mask, is way too full of anger and hate for me to enjoy any of this. There is certainly talent here. Eminem has a way with words that is unique. My Name Is was everywhere when this album came out. By itself it's pretty good, but not quite up to what Eminem would do later. Guilty Conscience is more cringey than shocking. 97 Bonnie and Clyde is disturbing, but I don't think I'm finding it disturbing in the way it was intending to be. The rest is bass, rhymes, misogyny, and shock value with no point. So this is another instance where I wish there was a 10 point rating scale. I reserve 1s for albums I don't think have any redeeming qualities, and 2s for albums I don't like that I can at least see some talent in. There is talent here, but it's way overshadowed by the shock and hate. 1.5, and I'm rounding it down because I don't think I enjoyed a second of listening to this again.
A really unpleasant listen. I bought this album in high school when it came out and remember being impressed with the cleverness of some of his rhymes. But even those lyrics are elementary compared to the subsequent albums. So many of the songs fall back on pure shock value. “Just Don’t Give A Fuck” is probably a favorite because it seems to have the closest thing to a genuine message. If I could give half stars this would get a 1.5 just for the humongous impact this album had and for its impressive use of repeated multi-syllable internal rhyme spurts.
Guilty Conscience literally just sounds like an ICP song to me
I don't think there is an album on this list that has aged more poorly than this one.
exhausting.
The profanity and violence is a bit much.
I was enjoying this more than I expected, but the longer it went on, the more I just couldn't stand it. The beats are good and he's undeniably a good rapper, but the lyrics are just so cringy and immature. It's just over the top violence, misogyny, and homophobia. The tongue-in-cheek rap battle against his conscience was pretty clever and somewhat funny, but I kind of lost all interest by the time we get to the part where he's rapping about taking his infant daughter to bury her mother at the beach. That's just not even remotely funny to me. In part it feels like he's exaggerating his real life experiences and frustrations, but it also feels like he's just trying to be edgy for the sake of being edgy and I really just don't have time for that nonsense.
Cringy ass album
Never liked Eminem. Still don't. I was 16 when this album came out and even then I found it way too juvenile and low brow. Now it's basically unlistenable. 1/5
Childish. Like some say, the beats are there, but those lyrics ...
sigh. Eminem is a fantastic rapper - his wordsmithing isn't exactly highbrow on this album, but his writing can be brilliant. The Slim Shady persona was supposed to be shocking, saying things you "can't say". But, as it turns out, this is exactly what incels sound like. There is a frightening number of people who feel Slim Shady gave them permission to think this way about women - that they weren't alone in their violent fantasies. I don't want to be a downer here, but I'd much rather listen to another eminem record.
Nope. Tiresome stuff, thank goodness it’s just an EP.
I gave it a try. I did. But, god I fucking hate Eminem. As much as I could get through was just a misogynistic mess (in my opinion).
This album makes me want to shove nine inch nails through both of my eyelids, and does not age well. I mean I get Eminem and the impact he had on the industry, but he has never been my thing. There a handful of good lines, but I can't remember them now. The Slim Shady persona today just comes off as juvenile.
Misogyny, bigotry and violence are a common theme in rap music, however I feel like such themes never have a good impact on women, especially because these themes are given a pass in the rap genre as they are so common. I feel like many of eminems lyrics are focused on sexually explicit or violent acts towards women. Even though these acts are metaphorical, they still don’t have any metaphorical repercussions which would suggest that these acts are bad (if that makes sense). So the listeners are only met with a popular artist rapping about misogyny with no negative consequences for their theoretical actions, which overall reinforces the constant cultural misogyny in rap and the idea that this behaviour is actually okay. I hope this makes sense, I’ve entered a food coma as I write this so it might not.
Cringe.
He has a line about wanting to fuck a 15-year old.
Man, this shit really sucks.
Not worth anyone’s time.
Ehhhhhghhhhhhewwwww
Funny but disgusting and stupid as fuck.
If I could give this 0 stars I would.
Never got what people see in Eminem. Even his “impressive” rapping sounds goofy and emphasizes technicality over actual quality. This album is overwhelmingly obnoxious and unnecessarily edgy. Just awful stuff throughout. Stan is the only saving grace on this thing.
Absolutely horrendous. Almost made me stop doing this challenge.
That is a rough listen. So much rape, pedophelia, misogyny. The rhymes are good but if it’s still unpleasant what’s the point?
Can’t even get through 2 tracks
Ew
Urrrrrrrgh. Just a miserable listening experience. How does anyone still listen to this?
The language and misogyny don't bother me as much as how idiotic and immature this album is, obviously appealing to insecure teenage white boys and idiotic losers that didn't get enough love at home. I realize this is a parody and this is Eminem's or should I say, Slim Shady's fantasy life put to song or rap or whatever. I'm confused why this is so popular and why anyone would buy this, but clearly he has fan's, his fan's love him and continue to finance his career. No thanks, the fantasy is over for me.
Can we just stop making out that every 13-15yr old boy is a masogonist, because they are not. Shit album
I promised I would listen to the first minute of each song before I skipped to the next so I would at least give this a chance. I didn't make it past that minute on any song. I found it pretty non-musical and the lyrics I heard were juvenile. I know I am not the target audience for this in general but I don't understand or relate to this at all.
I was dreading diving into this album, but I knew I had to get it off the list sooner or later, so I tried to be optimistic. Maybe it would be one of those albums I’d be hesitant to start but would end up enjoying as a nostalgic trip down memory lane. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. It was indeed a trip down memory lane, but it reminded me of my immature, lost teenage years and the similarly lost souls I hung out with back then. Perhaps it was relatable back then, which explains why it has no appeal to me 25 years later. The album is filled with goofy, silly, and childish rap, with jokes and punchlines driven by a juvenile sense of humor aimed at teenagers. The more serious and aggressive elements, driven by anger and attitude, also seem targeted at a younger demographic still trying to find their way in life. Overall, this is one of those albums that didn’t age well. It had its moment in the spotlight and served its purpose, but I believe it should stay in the past.
There are some catchy songs and he's definitely talented. But he is clearly trying to define himself by his edginess and shock value. If you want to say something controversial, that's fine. But I'm just bored by the whole message that he's this victim because everyone wants to censor him.
Ugh. So much violence against women and general utter disrespect for women. Being edgy at the expense of a marginalized group isn't something that resonates for me when it comes from a straight white dude. What a waste of flow style and lyrical talent when it's used for such horrendous songs. I can't appreciate literally *any* song on this album. If you want to make a statement, Marshall, then talk about politics or injustice, not shock and awe value.
Degenerate garbage
Unfortunate to be served this rather cringeworthy rap staple the day after 3 Feet High and Rising. It really shows this record up to be limp, tinny and problematic. When I was fourteen this served as a stepping stone for my entire generation to Dr Dre and the universe of worthy hip-hop beyond, and for that reason it probably belongs in the 1001 Albums book. But I really don't ever want to hear it again.
This is the 2nd Eminem album in the past week, and I expect this one to be worse than his 2nd album. A lot is very amateur, the skits are not fun(ny), his later albums are much better. The talent is there, but the content hasn't aged well, 1* Highlights: my name is
This sucks fucking shit how did this guy have a career
Ew.. no
Pre-listening thoughts: you know how when we got A Tribe Called Quest I said “every time we get a rap/hip hop album I jump for joy”? Well, I take that back. I forgot Eminem was on this list. Twice. Post/during listening thoughts: see skits are ok when the person delivering/writing them are funny. Eminem is not funny 👎👎👎👎. And literally every other line on this album is misogynistic and disgusting towards women. I HATE YOU EMINEM 😡😡😞😞‼️‼️‼️ 1/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: I needed to avoid this before I died and I failed Fav tracks: I literally don’t know what’s gonna end up on my playlist. Like dude. What am I supposed to do Least fav tracks: yes
Terrible, hard listen
nah
Listened to parts of every "song" but had to skip through them. Offensively trashy. Nothing with such poor grammar is going to get more than a one from me. Just can't.
Sorry, but just no. I get that Slim Shady is like a dark urge alter ego and that Eminem is going for shock factor, but this made me want to throw up. I guess I'm Zoe. The one plus: It is cool to see him start blossoming into his angry boy rapping flow that made him so good, with the standout tracks of Just DGAF and Still DGAF.
I understand why this album makes the list because it's a genuinely unique and creative album, but there literally isn't a single song/spoken word poem on this album that I would ever want to hear again. The beats are sub-par and unexciting (somehow it even misses the mark for a simple boom-bap beat), the subject matter is unappealing and comes closes but almost always misses the mark on meaningful introspection. The rhyme schemes are creative but wasted (imo) on bad songs. I seriously struggled to finish this, would've rather kept listening to the Verve. 1/5 as a musical album, 4/5 as an album that is probably worthwhile to make the 1001 list.
And I thought Kanye was corny. This is about as deep as the class clown in middle school who was debatable in literacy through only his own apathy.
Another record not to my taste with themes that just don't fit in to my world view. Couldn't listen to all the songs.
The music is good, much better than I expected. The rhyming is good. The lyrics are, as usual, problematic. Going back to my rating for "The Marshall Mathers LP", I think the comments sum it up well: I dunno. I wanted to like it. If it was in another language and I didn't know what he was saying, maybe. Or better yet, in a made-up language so nobody knew what he was saying. Yeah, that's the ticket...."
Cringe.
Fucking horrible.
I criticised Bob Dylan for his spite and bitterness on Highway 61 Revisited yesterday. It would be hypocritical of me to enjoy it when someone else does it. I will own up to it when it happens, but this is not it. However, the goofy juvenile misogyny isn't really the problem; it's his relentless verbiage. A Gilbert and Sullivan operetta that's all patter. At least Biz Markie sang the chorus of Just A Friend. And, for all Eminem's dexterity, the only parts that cut through for me are the clunkers. 97 Bonnie & Clyde is unpleasant for many reasons, but it is the exposition that appalls me. Who is he trying to convince that this is a toy knife? The baby? The clumsy extension of "quit tryna climb out," where the desperation for the rhyme makes for a contrived and clumsy mode of expression. And the questions put into the child's mouth - "where's mama?" "that smell?" - it's the cheap device of every amateur monologuist trying to justify sharing their every thought in situations where real people are silent. I don't know if Eminem gets better - he probably does - but this is all talent over discipline. And it's boring. 1.5 There is undoubted pleasure to be had in being beat around the head for 4 or 5 minutes at a time with a single bar of music; the evidence is everywhere. That pleasure, however, still eludes my personal experience. Perhaps some happy day I will encounter a lyrical and dramatic performance in the Rap genre that lays bare the musical value of having almost no musical value. But it wasn’t to be today - not this particular set of witless, adolescent sniggerings over fantasies of the humiliation, rape and murder of other people. Oh well, my loss again. 1/5
What woman-hater put this asshole on here more than once
heard
No
Shite
1 out of 5 I related to his lyrics about minimum wage but this was a hard listen for me.
shite
I’m not a big Eminem fan to begin with, but I was surprised how corny this whole album was. I found his crudeness completely charmless, and many of the lyrics have certainly not aged well.
A very different listen to how I remember it from its original release. Juvenile and misogynistic. Got half-way through and gave up.
I forgot how hilarious misogyny and sexual assault are. Oh wait, they never were and this is cringe now and was cringe then. There's not one song on this album I'd listen to in my normal playlist.
This just ain't it. He has better albums.
no me gusta enminem
This just hasn't aged well. Eminem is a lyrical genius but he hides so much of it behind false bravado, misogyny, and more. Certainly he got attention and a successful career out of it, but I can't help but wonder what could have been if he spent his energy on more profound lyrics tackling his poverty. As is, you can't listen to the music anymore, it's too childish.
I pass on this despite Marshall M’s extraordinary talent, since that talent is deployed in ways so destructive to his own humanity. And to ours…
lol
If you like lyrics about sexual and animal abuse, this is the album for you. But also get help.
Aged like milk… As a fully grown adult, I cannot stand listening to such misogynistic shit. Pretty awful all around.
Musically and technically I always thought: really well done. But I cannot ignore the lyrics, and all aspirations to give this context, try to understand this is a tricky way of deciphering the times don't work. Too much bland misogynistic and homophobic sentiment too directly expressed at least make for a hypocrite game, if not worse.
The South Park of rappers. Talent is talent, but using that talent to make goo goo gaga noises and rape jokes is just sad.
I'm giving a real low score to Slim Shady. Lyrically I can't stand the album, not because they are poor or sloppy, but the tone and the subject matter just fills me with hate. I don't enjoy glorification of domestic abuse. I don't enjoy the way he puts his children in the middle of it (lyrically). I know these acts of violence and atrocities happen every day. I personally don't like it in my entertainment. I don't need to be reminded how absolutely fucked up this world is. I have witnessed it myself.. Honestly... The only good thing I want to say about this album is that I think that the utter hate and anger I feel is what he wants the listener to feel. In that he's done his job. But all in all, I hate feeling this much hate in my system. I honestly wish I hadn't heard this album. (3.5) ★½
No escucho ni escucharé a Eminem.
Put off listening to this for so long. His songs can be very compelling but it gets exhausting when they're only about being violent to women. There is room for expressing thoughts like this but I think it ultimately did more harm than good. So so edgy, and you can really see how he has affected the culture (for the worse).
Boring
Pretty grim 😂
I wasn’t keen on the puerile school boy humour and casual misogyny when this first came out and listening now it’s worse than I remember. If you’re being kind you could argue “Slim Shady” is a character like Ziggy Stardust and maybe he’s using this character to comment on such attitudes, however this doesn’t ring true to me. It feels like he wants to shock and thinks it’s funny to make jokes about rape and general violence towards Women. This has dated pretty badly. Grim stuff. (I wanted to give it zero points but it appears you have to award an album at least one point)
Thank god that's over. Had to stop half way and wasn't sure if I was going to DNF my first album. Made it through the second half, which was marginally better, but I was counting the minutes until it ended.
Not my thing.
men’s humour be like “rape 🤣🤣🤣”: The Album
You know what. I can't even be arsed listening to it. 'My name is' is a good party track ... but so much of his stuff is just peurile shite that I didn't like when I was a jadded middle aged fart.
Talking about having sex with a 15 year old girl. How is this acceptable? If I could give it a zero, I would.
Maybe I am just in a bad mood, but I just found this annoying.
I was a teenage girl in middle America when The Slim Shady LP came out. I have no different opinion of this album than I did when it came out. I dreaded clicking on the review for this, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am heartened by all the men who loved this album in their youth but are now alarmed by what they hear. Eminem in 2024 seems more complicated and interesting than the Eminem on this album: endorsing a Black woman for president; risking an enormous fine to kneel in solidarity with Colin Kaepernick. I wish he'd address his past in an honest and open way, but he's apparently too much of a chicken to do so, despite being willing to take a stand in other ways. All the men who used to love this album but are dropping ones and twos now, that's what gives me hope for this country and for our collective future.
going through this list has finally convinced me that hip hop is shit, i wasn’t sure before, it’s kind of nice to know
He gets a 2 for his talent, and a -33 for his misogyny, violence, and use of the R word. I forgot that I like him a lot UNTIL I listen to all of his lyrics. 🥴😤
I tend to groan when I get a rap album on the list and this was no exception, though given I’ve at least listened to Eminem in the past, it was more of a sigh than a groan. More than anything this just makes me think of my ex, which I’d rather not do. And it also makes me wonder how the hell she ever enjoyed Eminem so much because aside from his singles, what is good about this? Lastly, it made me wonder who decided that skits should be a thing? Cause they just pissed me off more. I didn’t even make it through the whole thing.
Not for me, because I’m not a 15 year old misogynistic, homophobic incel who thinks owning a thesaurus makes you clever. What a disgusting joke of an album.
I couldn't get through the 1st Eminem album that showed up on my 1001 and I not going to waste my time with this one.
Music for annoying, edgy, misogynist, homophobic, 12 year olds
What is actually wrong with Americans?
No va
I had to stop listening to this album because I genuinely did not like it
