Reviews (page 13 of 14)

Really dull and monotonous beats. Doesn’t feel like the bars have a lot of energy or creativity behind them. 1.5

Upright bass (samples??), drum programming and smooth rapping. This is good but not going to end up on my everyday listening.

A little long, not too many musical highlights

90s rap

As I understand it, the Low End Theory is to sample some jazzy double bass and stick a rigid beat on stop, suffocating whatever swing or groove might have been in the original. Not so expansive, expressive or exploratory as the jazz records it collages, but simultaneously lacking the hooks and earworms that De La Soul were able to pick out of their record collections. That's a real bass on Verses from the Abstract and it sounds like good playing, but feels disconnected from everything else. I understand, however, that the lyrical dexterity and content is the important thing. Personally, I found it difficult to parse the lyrics as they flew by, so I wouldn't want to make any comment on them. Infamous Date Rape sounded rough, but, compared to the explicit misogyny we've heard on other hip hop records on this list, I'd want to give it a closer listen before I passed judgment on it. "You can ask Stephen If the vibe ain't right" - Honestly, I don't know. 2 I know next to nothing about Rap/Hip Hop. Jazz I only know the basics. Jazz, famously, is typified when a group of technically gifted musicians come together and play the same two bars of music in 4/4, again and again, exactly the same way, at about 100 bpm for 4 minutes or so. It is only a grasp of these basics that allows us laymen to credit the many gushing critical statements on The Low End Theory that identify the album as an ingenious musical bridge between Jazz and Hip Hop. Otherwise we might make the mistake of thinking that Tribe Called Quest was just the same old shit that rappers always do but this time in a pork pie hat. As I say - I can only credit Tribe Called Quest second-hand for their successorship to Miles Davis because I am only a tourist in these genres and must defer to critical consensus. Let’s talk poetry though - I feel I can give Tribe all the credit they deserve for articulating their puerile view of the world through doubtful couplets. ‘I keep a tight net with my brothers Ken and Kenny/ If the question is of rhymes, then I'll tell ya, I got plenty‘ Oh Q-Tip, if only that was the question. 1/5 ‘Get the fuck off the stage’ Miles Davis

Really not a big fan of hip hop, but as it goes this is pretty gosh durn good.

Album 685 of 1001 A Tribe Called Quest - The Low End Theory (1991) Rating : 2.5 / 5 One of the better hip hop albums I've heard from the list. Doesn't make me enjoy the genre any more than I do. Just not my thing.

The album still sounds good, but after 6 to 8 tracks it gets tough because musically it's almost in an endless loop.

2+ Stars (6/15)

Decent start but abrupt end to the first track. Nothing standing out to me, some decent transitions though. Quite nice to listen to. Decent flow. Yeah, some pretty cool transition. All tracks sounding pretty similar. Fun ending.

Interesting. Wanted to like it but just not my thing.

It's quite o.k. but it's still hip hop🤷

Had pretty solid bass throughout which I enjoyed, and overall good beats, although a lot of the beats sounded pretty similar to my ear on the first listen. I liked their voices. I wasn’t terribly inspired by the lyrics, but they weren’t bad either. I’m giving it 2/5 stars because it wasn’t bad but I didn’t find it overall inspiring either.

So today it's hip hop again. I actually had to spend more time with the album than I usually do with hip hop albums. I liked the sound of the first track. It sounded like jazz. The chanting wasn't as aggressive as in other albums of the genre, the voices didn't sound quite shrill. Maybe this is the first Hio Hop album that I like? After I got to the 3rd track, the rhythm and melody hardly differed from the previous tracks, I listened briefly to Butter. No noticeable change for me. Check the Rhime was explicitly mentioned, so I listened to that too, or rather watched the clip almost in its entirety. It all looked quite cool, but didn't excite me enough to want to watch the video in full. Even though this album might not have put me off as much as other albums, hip hop is not my genre. 2/4

Eh not my favourite genre, listenable but not terrific, probably wouldn't listen again.

...the original version of Show Business though...yikes.

According to my Last.fm stats I've heard the first song from this album some time ago but it was my first time listening to the album in full. While I do enjoy the general vibe the album failed to make me pay attention to individual songs, they kind of blended together for me and started sounding samey after a while. I get that it's an important and influential album but it's... just not for me. 2/5

More wordy wrapping hood. Entertaining at times. Dreary for the most part.

Alternative Hip Hop, which combines drums, jazz bass line and vocals in a way working for me as background music for a few tracks. I found myself bored after 3-4 tracks though especially as Hip Hop mostly appears as more speech performance than music to me.

not hip hop fan

Bit samey and not really my thing.

Yeah I don't know. I get that people love this, but I've never made it to the end of the record. I dig the vibe and the positive energy, but it's too simple and too much the same from song to song.

2/5 cause I love the older slang. Didn't finish though, just not my thing

I don't think that it's a bad album at all, but it's not my type. However, it did feel a bit different than the other hip-hop albums that I know of, and there was a bit of two that had my attention. But is it special? Hard to tell for me. Hesitant, unsure, 3/5.

Heard many people talk up this album but I ended up just thinking it was okay. Wanted to like it more though.

It was ok, but not something I would seek out to listen to.

Not for me.

Very mediocre Hip Hop. Not bad, but nothing spectacular here. I've heard of them, and I assume that they were instrumental in the early days of hip hop, but this one bored me after the third nearly identical song. People make fun of all hair bands sounding the same, but the songs on this album had nearly the same music and lyric sytle on every song.

I'm sure this is great, but I wasn't in the right frame of mind. It's a mistake to listen to such a lyrical heavy album when you are... reading yourself.

I can appreciate that this may be good, but I don’t enjoy listening to hip hop at all.

Rap, Drums/Perc, 1991 -> 2

This is my second A Tribe Called Quest album. The other one was great; this one, unfortunately, was not-so-great. It was too repetitive, and the lyrics didn't hit me as well as their other album(and I'm still stunned by "The Infamous Date Rape"). Favorite Song: "Buggin' Out"

Meh.

Not my thing.

Not for me

Okay for 1 time listening

Although talent wise, these guys are in the upper echelon, musically it’s not my thing. I’d group this in the Fresh Prince and Arrested Development class where I’m just not into the clean rap/hip hop. They do have sprinkles of explicit lyrics but it almost feels like it’s forced. So if you’re looking for something to play during a garage sale or while cleaning your car next to a school, this will do but maybe stay away from a handful of songs. Choice cut: Butter

Dr. Pepper and the music whore tried. I find it really funny how early hip-hop had some absolutely random lyrics. For early hip-hop it's a good album I guess, and even today it's listenable. For me the best part was the Busta Rhymes' verse, and maybe when one of them finally changed the flow in Infamous Date Rape

the beats had me head bobbing at times but it wasn't that good imo

Enjoyed listening to the album. Never really clicked with these guys but do appreciate them.

Just really unexciting

Ok but every song sounds EXACTLY the same?

the songs i knew i liked. not big on rap 4/10

It's fineeeeeeee.

I'd enjoyed their debut a lot but this wasn't for me.

Can’t say my life was enriched in any way by hearing this and I’m unlikely to bother again.

My foot tapped along but nothing really stood out

Not for me

Quite a funky bassline on the first few tracks. Same with the drums so i can see where the jazz references come from. Lyrically, hip hop and the like usually has quite meaningful words. But other than that it seems just a very average album from a first listen to me. Repetitive samples used throughout. None of them are particularly stand out either. although i do like the jazz feel on a few tracks. It wasnt a bad album but i struggle to see how this is a classic on a first listen. Maybe its more in the lyrics and commentary of the time. Because i thought it was an OK, and im unable to remember or think of a single stand out track, id give it a 2/5 based on a first listen. I know this album is well thought of so i will probably come back and give it another listen.

Not for me.

I still don’t understand the need for the cussing and sexual overtones. They had some solid songs that did not include either, so they are very capable of it. I liked the jazz sound.

Some of it didn’t feel like sampling. It felt like straight up plagiarism. This album was not good with an awful cup of cheating on the side

not bad it’s okay 3/10

Why is all 90s hip hop boring and misogynistic?

Not listened yet but

Rap bores me. Misogyny, braggadocio, materialism, name dropping, I miss melody, and hooks. The production quality is admirable. 2*

Enjoyable enough for a hip hop album. Reminded me of de la soul

This is the second A Tribe Called Quest album I’ve listened to, and this one is just as boring and as formulaic as the first. Nothing sounded terrible, but there was nothing of interest either. Every track sounds almost identical to next. An hour of whale song would’ve been less of a sedative.

okay, but nothing special

Couldn't finish it

I kind of like Show Business and almost like Jazz (We’ve Got)

Relaxte rap

4/10 - This is not my type of music at all but "Roar roar like a dungeon dragon" is a hard lyric.

Ekki merkilegur pappír í mínum eyrum en samt ekki versta rappið sem ég hef heyrt þannig að ég er minna neikvæður gagnvart þeim en öðrum sem ég hef hlustað á. Samt mun ég ekki hlusta aftur.

Almost didn’t make it to the end

Not one for my tastes

not for me

was alright

Generally like the hip hop of 90s better than today's rap but this didn't move me very much.

Hiphop - new to me

not a fan of oldschool hiphop

Not a fan of rap! But thanks

It's OK for hip hop

It's fine, but does become a little predictable after a while.

OK - not my favorite, not much into Rap

Nope, cannot do non-stop rap, sorry. After 3 songs, went back to my Liked Songs list, first up was Margaritaville. Guess that means I'm just plain o.l.d.

some nice smooth background behind the rap, explicit language I do not like, overall meh for me

Their best known song Can I Kick It is familiar to me. Unfortunately, that’s not on this album. While I didn’t mind that this was a more chilled rap style, it was also just immensely boring. I’ll give it a kind 2

It’s not terrible. I quite like the lazy soft jazzy business but there’s just not enough happening on here for me. It’s all so samey. I’m sure the same drum pattern is on nearly all of the songs - maybe with a slight variation on the tempo or adding a high cymbal here or there. The creativity is only in the lyrics which aren’t bad. I quite like the vocal delivery but where’s the catchy chorus or the instrumental solos? Maybe I just don’t understand this genre. It’s listenable as background fodder only. It’s better than everything I’ve rated as a 1 so it gets a generous 2!

Although its not my thing, it makes a change to listen to an old school Rap album without excessive swearing, talk of drugs, guns, murder, rape, niggas, etc. A time before the days of mandems and all the bollocks they murmur about nowadays. Quite refreshing! They all sounded like they had a nice time on the record, I did too, for a short while, then the first song finished. Musically better than most, so I'll give it a low 2.

I am trying to focus on the lyrics, its a rap album, so by default the instrumentals are boring and repetitive. But the bars are just so whack? I guess 30 years ago they were decent but now, oofie. Just dont really wanna listen to this anymore. Significant 24/63 Liked 10/63 Added 3/63 YNN

I wanted to like this. I thought I would like this. I was disappointed. Samey and boring and could have all been variations on the one theme

koko päivä ootelti tulee hetki kuunnella.. Albumi kuunneltu.. silloin jo pettymys… 2 star..

Old-school Rap, immer der gleiche Flow, Laid-Back easy listening. Plus "Here we go yo, whats the scenario?"

not my favorite genre, but good album

3.5: I generally like a few songs by A tribe called quest but not today I guess

This was frustrating. I really enjoyed People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm and wanted to like this too, but it was just whiny and annoying. Whatever song it was about trash talking other rap artists with "Your lyrics is butt"... Yeah, that sums it up.

The track Infamous Date Rape made me nauseous. Also: "Go get yourself some toilet paper 'cause your lyrics is butt" ... Come on. Got some solid beats though.

Took a while for it to click for me, and nearly wrote it off before we got there. Lyrics and writing were very good, but music that relies heavily on loops isn't for me. Did enjoy the vibes, though.

Mediocre. All songs basically sounded the same with the same beat. Nothing stands out.

Not a fan, but gets two stars because one of these songs was in Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 and that always brings back good memories.

Good example of the genre but a bit samey. Felt like the same song repeated several times. Time to mix it up a bit fellas.

Dated and kinda boring. Minus one more star for Infamous Date Rape.

Fantastic name for a band. I'm not a huge hip hop fan, but this has a good flow.

Very monotonous and repetitive

boring

Meh, just couldn’t get through it, I may have to try again another day

Released at the turn of the 1990s and incredibly influential towards the foundation of modern rap, the Tribe's most recognized album also feels incredibly dated and most songs feel repetitive and drag on a little.

I found this album particularly boring. Only standout song was the final song, Scenario. Other than that this album did not get a second listen.

Not so interesting

C Excursions - 3 Buggin’ Out - 2 Rap Promoter - 2 Butter - 3 Verses from the Abstract - 2 Show Business - 2 Vibes and Stuff - 2 Infamous Date Rape - 2 Check the Rhime - 2 Everything Is Fair - 2 Jazz (We’ve Got) - 2 Skypager - 2 What? - 2 Scenario (LP Mix) - 5 This was actually much better than I expected. Scenario was the only track I'd listened to before, and one I'm very familiar with. I always view Tribe as white people's favorite rap group and I feel like Tribe would be disgusted by that sentiment. Progressive High School English teachers wax poetic about these guys. It's usually the same teachers who apologize for being white to the non-white students.

Outdated!

Some of the beats here were great but 80s/90s rapping still doesn't do it for me

fine. not for me.

It was kinda repetitive but I enjoyed some of it. Not really my jam

Funky but not that Fresh

I liked this album more than I thought I would. Lyrically interesting, musically pretty boring.

Feels unfair to say it, but this didn't land with me at all. Almost certain that I listened in the wrong mindset and wrong environment, but it left me cold. Dull, unremitting, and not quite as smart as I hoped it would be.

Hmmmm not me

I'm not a big rap fan and this didn't seem like a good example of the genre Last couple of tracks were ok but I'd already lost interest by then

One dimensional, same tone rapping over the same beats

Fairly tedious by numbers hip hop.

Must try and listen altho my entire being recoils in disgust.

Enjoyed it less than DMC so 2 stars.

Enjoyed the first half, but the second half felt disjointed, and had some questionable songs such as the 'dare rape' one.

Levyllä on hetkensä ja on loppujen lopuksi ihan oikea albumi eli kokonaisuus - hyvin vaihtelua biiteissä ja aiheissakin sopivasti. Ei silti herätä suuria intohimoja minnekään suuntaan.

Potentiaalista mutta hieman liian yksitoikkoista ja jazzahtavaa.

Are we serious? 2 albums in a row by these guys? Ok. I gave them the benefit of the doubt yesterday, but no dice today. The music itself has been stripped down to basic drumbeats and basslines, really uninteresting. Lyrically it's still begging me to care about things I don't care about, as if to say "rap isn't just about violence, misogyny, homophobia and drugs!". You're right, maybe it isn't... but let's be honest, that's what it does best. 2/5.

I want to be cool enough to like ATCQ but it just doesn't really get me excited.

A nice chilled out 90s album but the songs didn’t really interest me much in this album. Don’t mind a few of their songs but none were in this album. Although it was a chilled album it didn’t interest me enough.

A driving beat and repetious rhythm are the defining features of this album. The true 1001 status is probably found in the lyrics but as I can't discern many of the words, it's all a bit lost on me

Really boring

I feel rude for rating this low because I don’t think it was bad but it wasn’t my thing. I was kind of vibing but I was also waiting for it to be over.

2.5. One of the best I’ve heard from them.

Its quite seminal in its field, but there is so much name checking, ultimately, it has very little to say for itself

Lekkere 90s rap. Niet echt mijn ding

Nothing too special. Not into hip-hop really.

bra for sjangeren men fortsatt dårlig

Fine, for an old school hip hop album. I was pretty bored to most of it, but there were a few alright moments. I liked the occasional jazzy instrument.

this aint it chief

Not something I would listen to, but I can appreciate it as art.

Rap… never my favourite, but then in this case, mixing it up with cool jazz and soul, making it groovy here and there

Man, I was loving The Low End Theory until Infamous Date Rape. The jazz influence :chefs_kiss:. The old school rhymes :dollar_sign:. This album is soooo damn good with a huge piece of shit sitting in the middle... The song is supposed to be anti-rape but fuck if it isn't exactly the opposite. Toxic masculinity at its finest--thinking they're an ally when it is just fuel for even more of the same shit.

this album is very groovy, but i don’t like too much because it is not my kind of music. but if you are a rap enjoyer then i think it is a very great album ! 4/10

Generic 90's hip hop

Well this is nothing I'm going to go out of my way and search for. If it shows up at a flea market for a buck I might buy it then.

Not a hip hop fan at all - but didn't hate this. Lots of musicality underneath, but a bit repetitive for me.

Not really my cup of tea, 2?

So I really don't care for rap and hardly know anything about the genre either. Like the other Tribe Called Quest album this more intelligent, less annoying and all around better than most rap I've heard. It seems like quirky than their debut album though and frankly, to me as a genre outsider every track sounds exactly the same as a result. So while I recognize some quality here, it still results in an album I only listened to half of and really don't care about.

Mwa. Kwestie van uitzitten.

The music actually wasn't bad for rap. Having a live drummer is infinitely better than a electronic beat.

Eh, just not for me. The first four tracks (that's all I got through) were too similar

Got boring and was looking forward to it.

Not my sort of thing

Not bad for hip-hop, but still kind of boring. Same beat over and over. 2

I get it that this is classic jazz hip hop but I didn't connect on first listen. Catch me on a different day and maybe I'll be ready.

Joah…nee.

They keep sending me stuff I don't like

It was ok. Interesting to hear them reference fake news

Background rap

No sé.

There are some great bass lines, and hooks, in a few of the songs. (Excursions, Butter, Everything Is Fair). I can get into tracks like these in small doses.

Not into hip-hop at all and this album didn't make me change my mind. I like the lyrics more than expected, and I like the jazz influences, though

The Low End Theory is regarded as one of the most influential albums in hip hop history. Even though its been called the "Sgt. Pepper's of hip-hop" and helped meld the lines between jazz and hip-hop in the early 90s, this is not really an album for me. Best: Scenario Worst: Butter

Nothing special, just generic rap

No puedo valorar

Better than the other rap albums we've gotten so far, still not my thing though.

Can't do it. I recognize the lyrical effort but i cannot stand the underlying soft jazz beat music and the completely disconnected rap... there's no energy. Scenario is the only song that carries it.

Solid rap, but some of the usual macho and vaguely sexist overtones :/

Not my thing, but I respect the old sound.

dont like rap

This isn't music. Why is this on a list like this? Listened just to prove it dont like it.

No mi rollo

1 Niet om aan te horen. Klinkt als "de la soul". Hiphop is niet mijn ding. Album snel doorgespoeld.

Mdeh, not the best rap album to me.

Couldn’t listen to the whole album.

Not for me .

No va rap

Each track began with really interesting sounds but always resorted to the same rhythmic talk and lost the great early start

Shithop

I've not listened to them before

Bebop is not like hip hop 😉 Wasnt a big fan of the these songs. If there was one thing I liked, it was the duo approach to rap.

Para nada mi estilo

I don't do rap like this.

Just not working for me

Its as mono as Berts eyebrow. Sucked me dry by the end it was relentless with nothing redeeming to mention. I just dont particularly like rolling backdrops that go with rap like this. It makes it very dull to listen to. This sound just doesnt seem innovative at all and just old school rap.

favs: jazz (we’ve got) skypager scenario rating 1/5

Not for me

Boring

Don’t care for rap

one of the most boring albums in my life

Not for me

Every song is identical. If there weren't gaps between them I wouldn't be able to tell where one ended and the next began.

Hip Hop? Never!

2 - TERRIBLE

Nothing stood out to me lyrically or musically, not my cup of tea I guess.

Hip hop toujours pareil

Don’t like rap

Not my vibe too much. Pretty old school hip hop and rap.

Meh. Nothing remotely interesting on this at all.

Old school hip hop. Simple beats and rapping. In 2025. it sounds very naive.

Still not buying this style

I've never really listened to hip hop before 1001 albums. The bits I'd heard by chance weren't appealing so I'd not sought more to listen to. Listening to two hip hop albums in two days has confirmed that I've not been missing anything. Musically simple, I guess because it's more about the lyrics than the tune. My problem is that I come from the wrong time and place to interpret the lyrics in a meaningful way. Too many unknown words, possibly street slang, and the rest of the words spoken at pace in an accent that I don't find easy to understand. That makes it hard work to listen and get some sense from it. To me music shouldn't be hard work! So I'm sure it means something to some people, just not me.

Kjedelig 90-talls hiphop.

I was excited when I saw the band, a few had my head bumping that were funky but honestly was disappointed. Overall 1.8/5

Not a fan of the same beat over and over and over and over and over.

Not for me. 1.5/5

Ei. 1/5

No es mi tipo de Hip Hop

The only song that I liked was “Scenario”. Every other song was dull.

It's one of those again…

Abysmal. Really and truly awful. Somehow “show business” comes out of this album, every other song is a painful listen from lyrics to melody to musical ability. 1 star

Turn it off yo Turn it off yo Pure garbage with no talent yo

No opinion, don't like hip hop etc

Sorry I just don’t like rap. I’m sure they’re great.

i'm only at song 3 and it already feels like i listen to this for ages. gotta stop, i'm sorry.

Not my cup of tea

Did not like it at all

I don't like rap and hip-hop. When I listen to albums like this, I only think about ending it as soon as possible. It's monotonous and not interesting. 1 out of 10.

I liked the beats at the start … but by the time they”d looped through EVERY song I was very bored. Not for me.

Sorry, I do not like rap/hip-hop, etc., and the start of this album hasn't convinced me otherwise! I am sure others may disagree - each to their own...

I can vibe to it but don't like it

It's hip hop. I rate it accordingly.

Your basic rap album. Nothing new to see here. Move along.

Either there's something I'm not getting or I just don't like this. It didn't click with me whatsoever. It's meant to be a jazzy rap album. But for me that just means it's simplistic, ridiculously boring and very very repetitive. I could barely tell any track apart. Isn't jazz meant to be interesting, melodic and full of variety? It never seems to get out of first gear. This is probably blasphemy to some, but I just don't click with hip-hop at all. A full album with such little variation is obviously too much for me. Didn't enjoy this at all and maybe it's harsh but I'm giving it 1 star. Very cool album cover though.

Not for me.

Second album de ce groupe, après "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm" qui avais échappé de peu à la note minimale. Malheureusement l'album commence mal. =>1/5

Not my cup of tea

p665. 1991. 1 star. Hip-hop/rap. Every track sounds the same. Tedious beyond belief.

The Good: jazzy hip-hop The Bad: doesn’t age well The Ugly: annoying drum-machine I really wanted to like this, but the damn drum machine is getting on my nerves so badly, that I fear there’s a 1* rating heading towards the Tribe This has NOT aged well at all. Give me Cantaloop (Flip Fantasia) and I will give it a 4*, but this… 1*

I do not like this style of music

Nope, not my thing!

I thought they had one good song.

No thanks. Too much going on.

Hip Hop & Rap leiern fast 45 min herunter.

Hard work. Not a massive amount of variety, sure this would make great background music for a hot day in the ghetto, but not great for a rainy day in the office. Somewhat tiresome, although a great snippet of influential early 90's music.

An album that not only features one of my least favourite music genres - Hip-Hop - but also combines another two music genres that I dislike into a new one - Jazz-Rap. It may be clever lyrically, but musically it's not for me.

Nope. Doesn’t speak to me

Bored from beginning to end.

Tedious!

"Go get yourself some toilet paper 'cause your lyrics is butt"! Aside from that amusing lyric, I didn't particularly care for this album.

Rap/hip hop

I’m beginning to think that there’s too much Hip Hop on this list for its own good. Don’t like it. Never will. End of. Have tried to explain why previously and getting tired of repeating myself. In future will give similar albums a straight 1/5 without comment. 1/5 29/5/24

I'm sorry, but I can't get into this music, if you can call it that. I like some of the jazzy sounds but the spoken 'singing', nope! I hardly understand anything and I have to say, I'm not interested in it either, it's not my world

Rap is a waste of listening time! I like the music but don't appreciate adding the words.

slow and boring

Not my vibe, didn’t finish the album

Hip Hop. 1/5

Not a fan of rap

it sounded very linear to me, not hills or slides, nor thrills or ridea

this feels cool and im just not cool, not for me im afraid

I don't like rap music.

Not my thing. Every song except one sounded the same to the point where I listened to the first half a second time and didn't realize it....

yeahh i don't think hip-hop is much for me. i don't care about lyrics at all, the most imporant thing in a song for me is it having a memorable melody on the vocals. this album felt really linear and it sounded pretty much the same throughout the whole thing. - 1 add

Not my music

Just not my thing. Found the beats, lyrics, and music boring. 1

Nooooo I couldn't hack the first song

nothing to catch the ear

Repetitive.

Rubbish

I cant fathom why this album is special enough to make it on a top 1001 list. its a genre... is it amazing? no. plus there is plenty of this genre here.

Absolutely terrible! Though it is impressive to make something to monotone and boring!

Hip hop

Not into rap

This album does nothing for me. 99% of hip hop I can't stand. Don't like the rhythm, the sound or the lyrics.

As someone who isn't really interested in lyrics most of the time, there is very little on this album to take my attention. The music backing up the rap is token at best, with few interesting beats or attempts at supporting melodies. There is little structure in these tracks, it's mainly just rap verses without many choruses or other changes to the formula. The album has nearly the same tempo for every song as well. All of this combines for an album that is largely interchangeable tracks that fails to get my attention and disappoints when it does.

Not a rap fan

They start a beat then someone talks over the beat. Rinse and repeat. It's not offensive like gangster rap but it's boring and it's not music.
