lodi 4 ever
Growing up, I was dragged along to folk clubs with my mum's band when my dad was working late. Considering that I just wanted to stay home, I'd complain the whole time, but was still allowed to make one request for the set list. If it was a solo gig, I'd ask my mum to play Big Yellow Taxi, if it was her band, I'd ask them to play Bad Moon Rising. This album brought back so many memories from those years, and while my hatred for folk music has disappeared, my love for this song and now album has remained the same.
A great album by a great band. Every song was familiar and enjoyable.
So many classics. Love Credence.
Perfection
Possibly their best album in that three album run.
This is an easy 5 stars. Classics and some of my favorite CCR songs (Lodi and Green River)
Alright first five I’m going to give on here, CCR has always been a blind spot for me but this album is real good.
A great album from the first note to the last. Can it get any better when it comes to country and rock music?
Amazing!
Endlich mal guter 70s Rock!!! Von den Guys die den klassischen "ich flieg mit Black Hawks ins Kriegsgebiet gute laune track" gemacht haben. 5/5
Near perfect album (9.9) ★★★★½
Just some all time classics here, including Lodi, Commotion, Bad Moon Rising, Sinster Purpose, Wrote a Song for Everyone, and the title track. 5 stars.
so good but the last 2 tracks are a big let down
My only problem with CCR is that when I have to listen to them, I have to listen to all 6 albums in a row. CCR is one of my comfy bands since I was a teenager. 5 stars of course!
This may be unexpected coming from me and previous thoughts on other music from this period of rock, but this album is a fucking banger. From start to finish I’ve been rocking out. So damn good!
We own this album so it was a very familiar listen. Not a bad song on the whole album. Wrote a song for everyone and Lodi my favourites
Great album and a great relief having come on the back of Coldplay. Every song is a banger. I really like the earthy rock n roll sound from CCR and all in 4/4 timing. John Fogerty's vocals hit hard and soulfully delivered, and there are few who sound better. Favourite songs: Commotion, Lodi and wrote song for everyone. 5 stars from me.
Fun, happy music!
Day 3: Green River - Creedence Clearwater Revival. American band Creedence Clearwater Revival offered a very fun rock album. To me, I find the term "swamp rock" difficult to define and deduce. Upon searching for swamp rock on RYM, I could not recognize a single artist featured under swamp rock besides Creedence Clearwater Revival, and their respective members from their solo works. Well, to be fair, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Dr. John were given brief mentions. This album features fun bluesy sounds and hippie vibes. Bad Moon Rising, Green River, and Lodi are stand-out tracks, in my opinion. Bad Moon Rising and Green River are very catchy songs, while Lodi is a really pleasant song. During the latest total solar eclipse, Green River came on the radio, and I had a lot of fun vibing to it! This album is a fun listen. CCR is practically swamp rock. It features an array of memorable songs. It's an important album. It's one of my favourite albums of the 1960's. Five stars. Personal Enjoyment: 5/5. How Much It Belongs Here: 5/5.
Got Creedence two days in a row and both are 5 star albums, I'm not sure there are too many songwriters as prolific as John Fogarty was in CCR.
Impeccably crafted and timeless California swamp rock. A ur-text of "Americana" as a modern musical style. The Albert King inspired "Tombstone Shadow" is notable for having a one note guitar solo (which sounds incredible).
I'd heard Bad Moon Rising, none of the other songs. But this is definitely an album I will come back to. It speaks to a very specific part of my soul.
Green River is one of the very best albums ever made. Fogherty put his soul in every song he touched (he still does). I’ll always love Lodi, even if it’s the oddball on the album.
finally something good on this
Great album 9.18 rating
I love these guys. Also, love how they are local. These guys are pure classic rock. So stoney.
Fantastic album. CCR hits just right for me. I know many of their hits, but this was the first time I've heard several of these songs and it's not going to be the last. Not many albums on this list make me want to check out more of their stuff, but this one did it for me. 5/5
like that retro vibes
All good, but Green River and Bad Moon Rising are personal favourites of mine
Wow. I really enjoyed that. This was awesome. It's hard to explain why specifically, but the rhythm and guitar really helped. I can't really recall a moment I didn't like. Haven't given a 5 for weeks so about time! Highlights: Green River Commotion Bad Moon Rising Sinister Purpose Broken Spoke Shuffle
Love this. Hardy guitar, silly ass vocals, banging songs. Love the little guitar licks, cool percussion, not much else to say except this is crazy tough. Can't think of any reason to not give this 5 stars. Goated Fav Songs: Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi
Incredible album. Probably they're most iconic though everything they released is great.
Soooooo good
bah yes en fait
green river isch en absolute bop sorry doris ich weiss nöd wie lang de versand na gaht MAA MIT HUET wrote a song for everyone isch chli schnulziger und gsangsfokussiert aber au huuere schön poaaaaaah isch das schön ok jz wieder chli pace lodi het chli en country bassline? poah ich han ja ccr eh scho mega gern aber das isch gad so es guets album, weiss nöd öbs actually speziell andersch isch oder ich gad inere andere mood bin, momentan ischs ufme 5er kurs poaah s hihiat wo so liecht usem takt isch HOT sinister purpose isch jz s erste lied woni so naja gfunde han OEEFFFF noch blues innegrüehrt fuck isch das GUET bin frfrfr zwüsche 4 und 5 ok hans hüt aabig no zwei mal durreglost, es isch soo unglaublich geil au mini meinig zu sinister purpose hani gänderet, und wrote a song for everyone isch immerno unglaublich schön FUNF
Easy 5. Don't hate on it just because it's on heavy rotation.
Legends
This album feels like an easy drive down a country road. The music is simple, stripped back, and solid, with a kind of worn-in sound. It has the same grounded vibe as early Neil Young, but with a bit more grit, like it’s been around a few times. Nothing fancy here, just good tunes that roll out smooth and steady. It’s music that feels like home.
Pure pleasure
Loved it. Straight up banger start to finish.
Exceptional songwriting skills and vocal delivery. Timeless music!
I really enjoyed this! It's the right combination of tight and fluid, great riffs and vibe, and none of the songs outstay their welcome, it gets straight to the point. I want to hear more of their albums!
Great album by an amazing band.
Best album from CCR. Love this album. Listened to it in entirety so many times!
officially ccr pilled 10/10
Luv em
i think this album deserves a five no questions asked
A little same-y, but still excellent.
Another 5 for Credence!!
5 star- Zero doubts
I love CCR and this album has some of their best songs. Personal enjoyment: 5/5 Relevance to this list: 5/5
Short but sweet
A fairly simple album but I use that as a compliment. Great bluesy guitar licks that don't end up meandering into excessive solos, just does the job and it's a good time CCR are a bit of a cliché now to me.. your ultimate Americana, classic rock radio band. If you just enjoy this record for what it though, it's hard not to love it
Enjoyed it!
Simply a great album from start to finish. 5 stars or A+.
An absolute SCC (stone cold classic)! Always loved Credence but never listened to this album. This is basically a greatest hits compilation because every song is so good, even those less known ones. Lodi, Green River, Bad Moon Rising obvious stand outs. Takes you straight to that Louisiana bayou! Even Franks little feet were tapping along. 5 out of 5
Some good tunes to chill out to.
Classic!
Green River is CCR at full strength — lean, swampy, and loaded with timeless songs that still sound fresh decades later. It’s only half an hour long, but there’s not a wasted second. The band’s mix of Southern rock, blues, and Bay Area grit is locked in here, and John Fogerty’s raspy howl is at its absolute peak. The title track and “Bad Moon Rising” are undeniable classics — tight, catchy, and full of that backwoods swagger. But “Lodi” is the real gem. It’s simple, sad, and brutally relatable — a perfect story of missed chances and being stuck somewhere you never planned to be. Fogerty’s delivery hits like someone who’s lived it. Green River doesn’t need flash. It’s all muscle and soul — just great songwriting, great playing, and a sound that belongs to CCR alone. A high watermark in American rock. Favorite song: Lodi
Soulful virtuosity. Gritty and sweet
Loved
Just phenomenal. There are the hits of course, but the other songs are very rocking and bluesy. Been a long time since I listened to this all the way thru. And they did 2 more albums this same year.
Listened to Tuesday 20/05/25 - around 3pm driving in my car BL: I loved “cosmo’s factory” so it’ll be interesting to see whether this extends to another one of their records AL: this was even better than I expected it to be. The driving blues rhythm behind all of this creates a feeling of political ease, ready to burst through the heat and plant the flag in some lonesome bog where the intact bodies of America’s damaged heritage lies. Not far from uncle tom’s cabin. Revolutionary music for the working man. Highly commended and will have to go back to and dig further through their discography. FT: “Green River”, “Tombstone Shadow”, “Wrote a song for everyone”, “Bad Moon Rising”, “Lodi”, “The Night Time is the Right Time” 5/5
Always good
Green River! What an amazing way to start this journey!
An absolute masterpiece front to back. Can't get enough CCR.
Really loved this album all the way through. It somehow makes me feel nostalgic even though I wasn't born for nearly 20 years after this came out. It just feels familiar and comfortable.
Unbelievable, you already know!! These guys have stole my CC-heaRt! I see the bad moon a-rising!
Classic rock.
Прекрасно
CLVSSIC
If you love CCR, which I do, you'll love this. Classic.
THANK U!!! SOME PEAK!!! also something thats very much been in my recent memory/rotation so i dont have super a lot of new thoughts about it but i do need to rly take my time to let the fact that CCR is peak soak in. while its hard to map their albums onto an arc esp considering in what quick succession they were made, im here to call this their Pop Masterpiece, the record where the savory rock band chops (creating arrangements and performances often just as dense as any of the fab four beatles material) and the smoggy swamp atmosphere both send all their strength towards pure tunefulness. i like the long jams and the rootsy genre excursions and all the other parts of CCR but if u want the same itch scratched as by most of the other Big Classic 60s rock bands, the album with bad moon rising and lodi is right here. fun and memorable and lonely and sad. everything ud want from living on the river ig!
Absoluter Klassiker!
Great album!
A classic 60s rock album from a classic and quintessential rock band.
Favourite song - Cross tie walker
This is everything folk rock was meant to be. Perfection.
It’s CCR. I feel like I am preprogrammed to like this. Wrote a song for everyone is just hitting me this morning. Something about the delivery in the vocals. The closer is is just great rock and roll. Night time is the right time.
God I love Creedence. This album is incredible, EVERY song is good, but it’s anchored with such massive hits. They’re easily one of the best bands of the era just based on the sheer number of hits they pumped out on basically 3 years. Unbelievable band.
Just fantastic
Quando eu penso em rock, é esse tipo de sonoridade que me vem a cabeça. Um álbum icônico que contém os traços que definiram um gênero e a época em que foi gravado. Apesar disso, não soa datado, a qualidade das composições é atemporal.
damn good - 9/10
i've been listening to a lot of CCR lately. great catchy songs that fit with the time.
It's possible this is my favorite CCR album of the project? A bit hard to tell, since they all have the signature sound, but I did really really enjoy this one.
I could listen to this one all day!
Крутили по радио в Питере песню из этого альба) Спокойно можно поставить на фон и заниматься любыми. Мирный музон.
Another fantastic album by CCR. Enjoyed it from start to finish, very tight and no filler whatsoever.
What an enjoyable listen! I’ve had “CCR” on the edge of my radar for some time but this is the first full album of theirs (even if it is just an LP) that I have sat down to listen to. Great!
I’m finally getting to some Creedence Clearwater Revival. I've already heard about half of this album beforehand, and the rest of Green River is of the same good quality. The title track and "Commotion" are excellent openers, "Wrote a Song for Everyone" is a very potent lament, the succession from "Bad Moon Rising" to "Lodi" and "Cross-Tie Walker" is impressive, and the album ends on a good cover of Ray Charles's "The Night Time is the Right Time". I can see why John Fogerty considers this his favorite album from his time with the band; it's all killer and no filler. Check it out.
Top album
Important music, then and now. John Fogerty is one of the great voices of America in the last 50 years.
They've done it again! Not as good as Cosmo's Factory, but close
I mean come on, you can’t ever go wrong with CCR. Definitely one I’m gonna come back to in the future. Fav Songs: Bad Moon Rising, Tombstone Shadow, & Lodi.
Just great rock and roll.
always makes me think of The Dude and how his creedence tapes were stolen lol
Man, it has been a long, long shift at work, and so coming back and listening to some Creedence while sinking a beer in the sun has been a pleasure. My big new discovery while listening was Wrote A Song For Everyone, god, it’s heartbreaking. I know he’s not exactly underrated, but fuck me, Fogerty could write a fuckin’ tune
It's Creedence. What more is there to say?
Love
Favorite Track: Damn near all of them, but Lodi
brilliant
Not my usual style, but pretty good. Great vocals backed by masterful guitars. Enough to make me wanna go on a cross country road trip
5/5 - awesome
This is an amazing album and it’s very difficult to believe that they released 3 hit albums in the same calendar year. Bad Moon Rising alone is such a staple. 4.6 stars
The first album I bought for my Muntz 4-track car system one of their best albums for sure
The Best album of Creedence!!
Aw, I grew up with this album. I cannot turn down blusey classic rock
Another CCR album. Superclassic.
There is an episode of Frasier where the sons find out Marty wrote songs and sent them to Sinatra. They sounded very similar to all of the songs on this album which makes sense because there must have been a formula for big band music. Still, didn’t mind listening to this one - made my 40 minute commute enjoyable.
Immediately a new favorite.
One of the best rock n roll bands ever. Unique sound and terrific lyrics. 5/5
My favourite Radiohead album. Just an expressive, unburned exercise in creative freedom.
another album on this list that i unabashedly adore. ccr's run in the late 60s into the early 70s is pretty unmatched in terms of quality of album, in my opinion, and this one might be my favorite of theirs. short, sweet, to the point, and not a bad track on here. john fogerty's songwriting is top notch as always, with the exception of the album closer, 'the night time is the right time,' a cover of the ray charles classic. the instrumentation here is all great and sonically, the album still sounds great and swampy. it's truly a document of a great band at its peak firing on all cylinders.
Only knew a couple songs but loved this. Great sound.
This is just good, classic CCR.
I've tried so hard, but this record is impossible to dislike. At once reassuringly traditional while gently pushing rock in interesting directions, and utterly avoiding 60s cringe. "Sinister Purpose" sounds so much like "Psycho Killer" by Talking Heads.
All time fave 🥰
Tom fogerty looks like Steve martin
01) Green River - 10,0 02) Commotion - 8,5 03) Tombstone Shadow - 8,5 04) Wrote a Song for Everyone - 9,0 05) Bad Moon Rising - 10,0 06) Lodi - 9,5 07) Cross-Tie Walker - 9,0 08) Sinister Purpose - 8,5 09) The Night Time Is the Right Time - 9,0 TOTAL: 9,11 (91/100) "I didn't like the idea of those acid-rock, 45-minute guitar solos," Fogerty explained to Uncut's David Cavanagh in 2012. "I thought music should get to the point a little more quickly than that." Amen to that! Great rock album with great songs, "Bad Moon Rising" being the greatest!
John Fogherty doesn’t just sing, he has a distinctive and special sound. This is every man music, from a time and place where our music and the people who made it were one of us, not some rarified millionaire. This comes from the heart not an auto tuner. This album needs a 6th star.
Get in your bones riffs Country sounds, rock and roll style Raucous good time voice
Classic CCR, I listened to a lot of CCR and still think I haven’t spent enough time with this one.
this is a great record!
A short album, but OH SO SWEET. I love their sound and overall toe tapping feel. John Fogerty's voice carries the back woods sound beautifully, while the lyrics paint a colorful picture. CCR has been one my favorite bands since the very first time I heard a song from them.
Always dug CCR. This was a nice listen.
The run that CCR had from January of 1969 to July of 1970 is the stuff of legends. I said the same thing in my initial review of Cosmo's Factory. And every positive thing that I had to say about that album still applies here. Except I think it’s somehow amplified ten fold in this case. John Fogerty seriously just had the formula down. People need to speak more about how much of a talent this guy was back in the day. He still stands as one of my favorite singers ever. He really is the ultimate blues vocalist, and is only rivaled by the likes of Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix. Every song on this album is good, if not great. And whether it’s the main guitar part, or John’s vocal delivery, each song has a specific moment or riff or idea that makes it stand out. The way John sings the chorus on Wrote a Song for Everyone is great. It sounds more like he’s saying “Wrote a shong”, and it gave me a good laugh the first time I heard it. It’s just like the most southern thing ever. When an album I love doesn’t even reach the 30 minute mark, chances are I would usually be asking for more. But with this album, I’m really not. And that’s not a bad thing. The majority of these songs are pretty short. And they are perfect that way. Great condensed bits of swampy blues rock. Give me a cigarette, put me behind the wheel of a 69’ Camaro, and play this album, and I just might take my draft letter and ship myself off to Vietnam. Rating: 9/10
Epic r ’n’r album. One of the great
A near perfect album. Even the lesser known songs like The Night Time is the Right Time is great. So much soul and such distinctive sound. This is the benchmark for CCR.
Discazo. 5/5.
Really liked this one, classic from a great band
This album is almost as close to perfection as you can get. So much soul, so much grit, so much toe-tapping goodness. CCR is the every man's music, and it lifts me up every time. Even more incredible, this album is one of 3 CCR released in 1969, and one of 6 released over a 3 year period. Their music is such a gift to the world that it's still hits over 50 years later.
Most bands don't have greatest hits albums this good.
I literally thought I didn’t like CCR. As it turns out either my taste has evolved or I never really gave it a good listen. This record is damn good. I understand why it’s on the list, and it’s times like this I’m happy I’m doing this exercise.
So I'm apparently a really big Creedence fan. I've always liked what I've heard on the radio but the rest of the songs are great, too. I think Cosmo's Factory might be a little bit better, but I'm still going to give this one the highest of ratings.
This one is awesome. Really enjoyed it.
4.6 - I felt like I was going to get a bit bored of creedence with this being the 3rd album, but felt this was really fucking good. Loved wrote a song for everyone.
No puedes entender la música americana de los 60 sin este grupo y, más concretamente, sin este disco.
Tombstone Shadow, Wrote A Song For Everyone, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi
Soooooo great
Great background music for late night build validation.
Every song is good.. still sounds good
God, what a breath of fresh air after having to listen to fucking Derek & The Dominos yesterday. Has there been a band with a more perfect career than CCR? Get in, get out, write only total jams. "Green River" is the most immaculate dive bar jukebox song in human history. No notes, flawless piece of art. Bonus note: the vocal production on "Sinister Purpose" sounds incredible (and Sinister Purpose would be an incredible name for a band)
Classic rock. Very recognizable and full of energy. Great Album.
great!
10/10 album
Absolute top tier album. CCR can do no wrong.
All the dude wanted was his rug back. It's not greedy
CCR released so many great albums in such a short period of time. Can put this on at any time, always in the mood for some Creedence! 4.5/5
Doesn’t get much better than CCR.
I grew up with this, so of course I love it!
Green River. Commotion. Wrote A Song For Everyone. Bad Moon Rising. Lodi. The Night Time Is The Right Time. Are you kidding me. Big five stars.
As someone that was born in the 90s and didnt really pay attention to music until the late 2000s, this album always draws me back to simpler times. A beautiful reminder of friendship and adventure. The Brits have the Beatles, the Americans have CCR. Rock on 🤘
Brilliant
first time listening. great album!
Great album, one of 3 great CCR albums
Peak early Creedence. Rootsy and reflective.
Few bands can claim they have never produced a bad album, and Creedence is an example of that. This particular album is considered one of the most classic. It's an indispensable work that will always bring me joy.
Reminded me how much I loved CCR as a teen... great album!
Nice mellow rock
Just jams all the way through - not a single song I didn't enjoy, and Green River, Bad Moon Rising, and Lodi are all A+ material.
Awesome!!! Big fan of CCR. Love this blues/rock.
CCR is one of the best to ever do it and this album is one of my favorites
Classics for a reason 😎
Classic rock-n-roll forever!
This is an excellent album. Creedence put out some good music in the short time they were together. Too bad they couldn't get along better so they could have put out more.
Another stellar album by CCR. Short sweet and to the point with a bunch of classics on there
Rare album with no duds.
Lot of classics here. Lovely album. Favorite song: Broken Spoke Shuffle or Sinister Purpose.
I love Creedence. 29 minutes of swamp. Take me back home. 5 motherfucking stars
Every song on this album is a banger. I’ve always liked CCR, but I’d never listened to an album. I’m glad I did.
I love Creedence Clearwater Revival! Their own very unique sound in this album shows it more than some.
A true Classic!
We kind of music I enjoy most, has lots of energy. And Credence always flex their muscle and have energy to spare. Love the album already listened to the singles. Would gladly listen again
This Creedence Clearwater Revival's third studio album, and the second of three released during their very productive 1969. This album includes two of their biggest hits, "Green River" and "Bad Moon Rising." CCR played in a style that combined rockabilly, blues rock, and Southern rock, and featured John Fogerty's uniquely expressive vocals. Despite their unique style, CCR's songs are among the classics of 60's rock. Fogerty's voice and poignant lyrics resonated with the protest movements of the sixties, and presented a nostalgic view of traditional American music.
Classic...love this band!
Always like CCR. For some reason they remind me of my father.
Can’t be upset about this one. So many great songs!
6/7, relaxing
This is one of my favorite bands from the past. I love thier classic hits but have never sat down and listened to any of thier albums. Alot of thier songs have alot of similar motifs and rythems which is fine by me. I love the sound that they trailblazed and that has been copied in many modern bands. They were truly influencial on a large scale. Love this album 5/5.
I usually prefer Cosmos Factory, but this album is still stellar.
What an album! The voice and feel of the entire thing is awesome. 5/5 10/10
Favorite CCR album!
Wonderful album by this old and very classic band!
CCR should be prescribed for anyone needing a little bit of a dopamine boost. Every single facet of their work, from the bouncing guitars to the joyous vocals, is designed to make the world seem sunnier, and this album does just that. Obviously the centrepiece is Bad Moon Rising, which is one of the greatest songs of all time. If I was to steal a car in early 90s LA, I might leave the tape deck, but I wouldn't hold out much hope for the Creedence tapes.
This was real good. No filler, like a well executed bank robbery .. they get in, get to the point and get out in 29mins Favourite track: Sinister purpose
This is always a good choice. Never not the right time!
Good
Proof that albums can be full and enjoyable in under 30 mins. I love JF’s voice, the production is so nice and they keep it simple.
Solid front to back with only a couple of bobbles. Great swampy blues groove. Unexpected banger: "Tombstone Shadow."
Made me like these guys even more
I had this vinyl in my original record collection. A classic for sure.
5 звезд
The 3 classics stand out - Green River, Bad Moon Rising and Lodi are timeless. The remaining songs are also surprisingly good - Commotion and Sinister Purpose in particular are fantastic. Overall, a blues rock masterpiece. 9/10.
CCR Classic
Not sure how to listen to this. They have just always existed. The songs are everywhere, etched into me. Like a puzzle piece that just slots into my brain.
I wasn’t expecting to like it as much as I did. And when you consider the morphing of music at the time… and where we are now. And it flew by… I wish I had the album cover with lyrics inside.
It was like listening to a greatest hits album! What a great start!!
That's the stuff
Can not believe how many songs from this album I knew beforehand. And I would not have been able to tell confidently which band they were from. Skill issue. Amazed by the project. Expected Marc rating: 4
One of my regrets on this list is having not given the Cosmo Factory album 5 stars. I think this album might be slightly weaker as a whole - maybe because it is longer - but I am going to redeem myself now and give this 5 stars - albeit a weak one. I am actually shocked by how good I find the Creedence albums, because it doesn't feel like it should suit me that well, and I haven't been especially interested in them historically and haven't regarded them that high. This album has plenty of hits, but it is also held together at the seams by less famous songs that still deliver. One of their most famous songs, 'Bad Moon Rising', is found on the album, but I find myself enjoying some of their less famous songs more, such as 'Sinister Purpose' and 'Tombstone Shadow'.
Great, chilly music, evokes images of road movies in my head. Did not know about it before.
Probably one of the best albums of the 60s I’ve listened to. “Wrote a Song For Everyone” is amazing, and I love John Fogerty’s twang on all of these songs. That’s what gives this album a southern rock feel, and one that makes me want to explore this genre even more. 5/5 Favorite song: “Commotion” or “Bad Moon Rising” Least Favorite: I have none.
Great album with a great sound. Heard some of these before, some were new to me. It is a sound that is uniquely CCR. Glory Be was my least favorite while Bad Moon Rising remains a favorite. But overall great music. I’d rate a 4.5 if I could, so I’ll round up to the 5.
Awesome, every song was great. Perfect CCR.
Great, one of my favorite bands.
Classics plus some lesser known songs that are also a joy to hear.
Green River by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Folk intemporel. Je connaissais quelques unes des chansons, le reste de l'album c'est more of the same ambiance, qui est une excellente ambiance
Green River - 9/10 Commotion - 8/10 Tombstone Shadow - 8/10 Wrote A Song For Everyone - 9/10 Bad Moon Rising - 10/10 Lodi - 7/10 Cross-Tie Walker - 7/10 Sinister Purpose - 8/10 The Night Time Is The Right Time - 9/10 Favourite Songs - Bad Moon Rising, Green River, Wrote A Song For Everyone, The Night Time Is The Right Time Least Favourite Songs - N/A Score - 8.4
i grew up listening to this and it's just as good as i remembered, i love the sound and all the songs are great imo
I've never listened to Creedence before, but I did listen to a lot of bluegrass and southern rock growing up. This album made me feel like I was back home with my mom going through her cassettes
Always kinda liked CCR, knew all their hits, but this is a great album! Perfect thing to listen to in the Summer.
Great, brings me back
Really good
They really peaked on this album.
So good
Every song is a perfect piece of pop. Simple yet effective.
Sometimes all we need is good old bluesy swampy rock
Classic
So many good songs on this 1960s. Classic. Bad moon rising, Lodi, Green River, etc. John fogerty's voice is one of the things that makes this band awesome, but also the simple yet catchy guitar rhythms and solos. Every kid learning the rock guitar learns some creedance clear water revival songs
Frickin' awesome! One of my early introductions to rock.
This is awesome.
Classic CCR. Highly recommended!!
Nice slow guitar, different vibe but I like it.
Wonderful!
Ultimate driving music for chooglin' down the highway
When I was a kid, my grandfather would play a lot of CCR in the car when he drove me to and from school. So this brings back a lot of good memories. So I don't necessarily feel like I can objectively judge this album as nostalgia would put this instantly at a 5, even though this is definitely not an album I would ever see myself wanting to listen to during my day to day activities. But those good memories are too hard put aside just for a review, so 5.
The album is nice and easy. Makes me want to go on a summer roadtrip.
Bad Moon Rising and Green River are two favourites of mine from the band that I'd heard before. It was nice to hear the rest of the album.
A blastfrom the past. 40+ years since I last played this album in full and it still sounds better now than it was then. Fantastic.
So many bangers. CCR takes me back to watching my dad pound beers at a tailgate for the miners. Great tunes, a few absolute classics, overall, every song is strong enough to shine on any other album of the genre.
Excellent classic sound
This is the best CCR album and one of the greatest, purest rock 'n' roll albums ever made. It's gritty, it's swampy, it's got kickass moments and poignant moments. A great, American band at the peak of their powers.
Great album with a lot of jams. CCR's sound is great, especially the vocals. Good vibes all around. Green river, bad moon rising, etc... great album.
Good
Great
This was great, I really enjoyed it overall. Generally upbeat musically, though the lyrics are not always so positive. The first half plus of the album were pretty much all great (the second half was good too but not as many standouts for me). No real notes here, just a strong album top to bottom. The songs are pretty short, the production is tight, it sounds unique compared to other rock from the time. A bit of a rootsy/country sound throughout too, I got Caamp vibes frequently. There's also a few very famous songs here, most notably "Bad Moon Rising". I also really enjoyed Lodi as something a bit more melancholy. Favorite song: Bad Moon Rising Other: Green River, Tombstone Shadow, Wrote A Song For Everyone, Lodi
Heard before: Yes Favourites: Bad moon rising, Lodi, Sinister purpose 3/5 albums I've gotten I've already heard, and 2 of them I'm giving 5 stars lol. This albums deserves it tho, such a great half hour.
Roots
despite the short run of this band, mostly due to brotherly bickering, CCR cranked out nothin but good stuff. And this album is one of two I'd give 5 stars to. If you don't know em. get to
Very gokd
Simply Brilliant- Best album I've listened to so far. Will be exploring their back catalogue soon, expect to listen to this album again.
Already loved, but listened again. Almost perfect
Favourite tracks: green river; commotion; tombstone shadow; wrote a song for everyone; bad moon rising; lodi
My favorite CCR album with Lodi, Bad Moon Rising and Wrote A Song For Everyone
I don't want to know a world without CCR.
On peut pas se tromper avec Creedence, c’est qualité assuré
This is just good old fashioned rock'n'roll. Fantastic album from a fantastic band.
CCR is just that good. Phenomenal but short rock album that just leaves me wanting more.
It’s shameful this album came up on a Wednesday, all I wanna do is grill hot dogs and crush Bud Lights. The rock n roll has just the right amount of twang and the album holds up very well when a lot of the contemporary rock from around this time comes across as a bit infantile or simple.
I wrote an essay in college comparing Bob Dylan’s Nashville Skyline with Creedence’s three albums from 1969, including Green River. Willy And The Poor Boys probably gets more fanfare, but this record is sneakily one of the best of the late sixties. “Wrote A Song For Everyone” is an extremely under-appreciated song. It features John Fogerty’s songwriting at its best, digging deep emotionally and addressing civil rights issues through lines like “Saw the people standing / Thousand years in chains / Somebody said it’s different now / Look it’s just the same.” Aside from the Vietnam-fueled “Fortunate Son,” the hilariously misleading “Bad Moon Rising” is probably the band’s most popular song, and for good reason. Named after a town 30 miles south of Sacramento, “Lodi” reminds us that the band is from California, not Louisiana, and is my favorite Creedence tune. “Sinister Purpose” is another underrated track, and has one of the band’s most addicting guitar riffs. 1969 would have been a great year for Creedence even if they’d only released this one album, but they released three top notch records, which just goes to show how much they accomplished in such a short time. And of course, always remember: Don’t go ‘round tonight, well it’s bound to take your life… there’s a bathroom on the right.
I love CCR! So happy to get to listen to this album today. So many hits (Lodi, Bad Moon Rising, Green River) on one record. This is apparently one of three albums made in the same year. CCR are a southern rock band. Their mix of fuzzy guitars, and John Fogerty's distinct vocal delivery make for an easy listening experience. Overall, I loved this album! So much so, I listened to it twice! Being such a fan of CCR, it was nice to listen to an album cover to cover, and discover a few fantastic B-Side songs in the process! Favourite songs: Lodi, Bad Moon Rising, Green River, Commotion, Cross-Tie Walker, The Night Time is the Right Time Least favourite songs: Wrote A Song For Everyone 5/5
FANTASTIC
Feels more like a greatest hits than one album!
Damn, I think I'm getting quite into CCR. I couldn't be any less American, but I find myself vibing with this a lot on a rather pleasant summer evening, kind of surprising considering the horrible British summer we've been having this year. Really an excellent record, probably beats out Cosmo's Factory for me. Favourite: Bad Moon Rising
Gooddd!!!!!!
Raw, authentic southern rock. A few of their best songs on here. A few tracks and styles which probably influenced Kings of Leon in their early days. Fantastic album.
I have a big appreciation for CCR & wore out one of their albums in college. That twang & that Southern soul really struck me (eventhough the band is from California). Excellent listen. 4.5 stars
Great album. Classic
Gorgeous. Absolute staples of classic rock, including perhaps CCR's signature song, 'bad moon rising' and a lovely tribute to Nottingham Forest's on-loan Brazilian left-back (Renan) Lodi [citation needed]. A great album, by a great band.
Rock canónico. Vinilo.
I mean it’s CCR. Fogerty’s vocals are soulful as ever and I love the straight up swampy feel to the songs. Such an iconic record of the Late ‘60s.
Every song is great. CCR is one of my favorite bands and I’ve heard this album a lot. Fogerty’s voice is iconic.
I love me a bit of Creedence
This is a real classic, enjoyed being reminded of some old songs
It's funny, when I think of Creedence Clearwater Revival I always think of this local classic rock radio station that sometimes would do a weekend promotion where they played their whole catalog, from the longest song to the shortest. The end of the weekend would be packed with Creedence songs - guitar-driven, intense, tight as hell, deeply fun. The antithesis of every draggy, jammy band you've ever heard. Love it. Creedence probably isn't the first, or even the third band you think of when you think about the 60s. But they're one of the best. Their sound encompasses so much of the mood of their time. But it's also a sound with incredible staying power, which still feels vital 50+ years on. This is Creedence at their lean and mean best, packing in a powerful group of 9 songs in just 29 minutes. It's well-paced but warm and earthy. Several of the band's best known songs appear on here, but the deep tracks are compelling as well. Fave Songs (all songs, from most to least favorite): Green River, Lodi, Commotion, Bad Moon Rising, Wrote a Song for Everyone, Sinister Purpose, Cross-Tie Walker, Tombstone Shadow, The Night Time Is the Right Time
Such a great album. The deep cuts are so good.
Classic record. Not much more to say about it.
Fucking great album.
v cool
Classic. Really enjoyed this.
So good, I love this band.
Love CCR
I've never met anyone who hates CCR. I'm sure they're out there, but I've never met them.
CCR no notes
Great album. I love John Forgerty’s voice and songwriting.
This is great. 4.5 His voice is awesome and I love the slap back in some songs. I never really got into CCR albums, kind of always thought all their songs sounded the same (and I still kind of do) but it is really sick! Night time is the right time, ray charles is a million times better. Dig the double vocals and triplet thing in sinister purpose
I thought this was pretty cool and I was going to give it a 4 until I heard the last track. Wow
My favorite album from one of my favorite bands. Confess to not listening all the way through until a few years ago, but it went on repeat after that. "Sinister Purpose" was a later-day discovery that just added to my appreciation for this album beyond the title track and the many other greats here ("Lodi", "Bad moon rising", "Commotion", "Tombstone shadow"...)
Very 70's rock and amazing. Reminds me of some Vulfpeck songs but from way back
Now this is a rock album. Never listens to this in it’s entirety, wow! Banger city. Nothing else to say. Easy 5! TBz 1. Bad Moon Rising 2. Green River 3. Lodi 4. Sinister Purpose 5. Tombstone Shadow 6. Cross-Tie walker
9/10 Creedence always delivers even when the songs aren’t amazing, they’re still super darn fun
It's good
Inoxidable
Grand classique, juste un peu redondant mais méchamment efficace
PREFS : Green River, Commotion, Tombstone Shadow, Wrote a Song for Everyone, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Cross-Tie Walker, Sinister Purpose MOINS PREF : The Night Time Is the Right Time
Loved this one. Probably my favorite so far
Golden age Creedence and U2 got me into music as a young boy. Classic. 5/5.
They made 3 albums in 1969 and they're all great albums.
I've only ever listened to CCR's greatest hits, so I'm glad to see this album holds up. This is near perfect as far as I can see, so many gems on this album. I enjoyed every song!
Amazing album. I didn’t realize how good and strong ‘s voice was.
CCR’s crazy hot streak continues with this nearly-perfect grab bag of rockabilly-flavored barn burners. Evocative lyrics and jangling melodies make a compelling case for John Fogerty being one of the best American songwriters of the past century.
As I expected, I really enjoyed this one. I would definitely put this on a playlist.
Excellent blues record
essential. farmers on acid
Classic twangy guitar
Awesome. Half of these songs are on their greatest hits and the other half are good enough that they could be. Perfect classic rock with a lot of blues rock.
