Reviews (page 4 of 13)
A+ 5/5 album. Amazing classic rock album that is so important to the history of American rock music. Melodies are timeless, instrumentation, arrangements, and performances are timeless. This is an album for a time capsule. I love CCR and this album is absolutely killer.
I didn't realize I knew so many songs by CCR - I like them! This is a nice album to have on while working, driving, doing house work. Like their style, brings me back to the 80s.
Straight to the point album that is representative of a truly American sound. Oh, and the lyrics are as poignant as ever.
The argument could be made (I would make it if I wasn't so jacked up on cold medicine right now) that CCR was the greatest band of their era. I know, there were a lot, A LOT, of great bands in this era but I said what I said. They have at least four albums that don't have a bad song on them and "Green River" might be the best of them.
Weeeeelllllllllll... CCR is a constant 5 star band in my books. I'll always love listening to John Fogerty's deep-fried country twang. This album showcases it perfectly in so many diverse ways, with bluesy rockers and soulful ballads throughout. You get something special on every track, that down home charm of some humble music loving folks. Y'all come back now!
A classic album of my childhood. Legendary band. Liked: Green River Wrote A Song For Everyone Bad Moon Rising Lodi
Banger album

Proper. You always forget how may hits CCR had. This was just what I needed. Joyous unapologetic rock and roll. Ramble ramble!
This was was easy. 5, without thinking twice.
Love me some CCR
5 star album from a 5 star band
A solid, concise album! I love CCR's bluesy-rock combo and John Fogerty's growly voice. Every song was enjoyable!
Rock canónico. Vinilo.
Love me some CCR, never disappointed when one of their tunes come up. This was a fun album, Fogerty and crew doing what they do best. There's something so accessible about their music, it fits in sitting quiet and relaxing but also on a road trip, or at a party or the bar. For the small time this band was together they really put out some great music and Green River is a solid sampling of what they can do.
Great
Glorious. Makes me wanna go fight in Nam
I keep going back and forth on this one! I LOVE CCR, and the singles on this are amazing: “Bad Moon Rising” is “Bad Moon Rising”, and “Lodi” might be my favorite CCR song. With that said though, the non-singles are somewhat filler and don’t have the same energy as the hits. But hey, even a filler CCR track is great. 5 stars
No one sounds like CCR.
Another solid CCR album. Do these guys no how to make anything other than GREAT music. Just a notch below my favourite; Willy and the Poor Boys. 5 🌟
Short, simple, and swampy. I love it.
Enjoyed
Great album with multiple classics
"Creedence" is a referent, I like this band. In this album, the best songs are "Green River", "Commotion", "Tombstone shadow", "Bad moon rising", "Lodi",...Oh, my God, all is very good!
Classic
Yes, Please!
The legend of Fogerty! What vocals, riffs, legendary songs, and pretty timeless production. This is a definitive road album.
Love it!
an excellent album, and, astonishingly, one of three marvellous albums they released in 1969. great songs, fantastic vocals, well-played, tough, resonant and rooted in real life.
Can't complain really.
Just an all-round great rock album
Pure late 60's awesomeness.
Swampy bayou rockabilly in the hands of a few men from the Bay Area translates incredibly well. John Fogerty’s voice has the perfect amount of grit and expressiveness and seems made for this type of music.
Love Creedence. This album lived up to expectations and then some.
Added with pleasure. Solid from end to end. Exactly the sort of album I'd expect on this list. Want to know why CCR is considered "classic rock"? Listen to this album.
This was an incredible album
One of my favs, lots of the non-hits on here that are still greats
Amazing band. Amazing voice. Amazing album.
This album is the real deal.
WHAT. A. BANGER.
Quintessential 60s rock band makes an epic record. No surprises here.
Absolute classic.
Classic.
The first track has an insane intro wow 2nd track has insane guitar part
CCR are incredible. This started like a Greatest Hits album, but dropped marks for 2 awful instrumentals at the end. Then realised they aren't on the original album which climaxes with 'Night Time is the Right Time' (only on the Spotify album I linked to). They are pop/swamp/rock geniuses
I love this band and always will
Every album CCR recorded between 1968-1970 is solid fucking gold. In those 3 years they put out 6 albums! An average of 2 stone cold classics per year. This album is the apex of their most productive year, 1969. They were absolutely on fire here. I often shy away from rootsy music but John Fogerty oozes such authenticity and passion in every phrase that I can't help but fall under the spell. The playing is so tight and focused, but isn't overly technical or showy, so it comes across feeling very natural and relatable. These songs sound nearly timeless. Every one an anthem. It's almost as if they could be traditional folk and blues songs with bad-ass rock and roll arrangements. Hard to believe that, besides the final track, they came from the mind of a then 24 year old who was somehow able to channel and express what sounds like at least a century of experience and perspective. He didn't just catch lightning in a bottle here, he was a veritable musical lightning rod at this point.
Excelent album. Best classic rock ever
It's Creedence. Enough said.
los de beste ontdekking hier. nog nooit van gehoord maar echt goed damn!
porch chillin vibes
Know this album well. Every song is great 5/5.
Great CCR Album with their classic sound
Un bon album rock. Leur meilleur. C’est bon du debut a la fin. 4.95
Great album
Man what a fantastic album. Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, and so much more. I love Fogerty and Creedence and always will.
😍
Omg I am so excited for this !
Klassiker. Einfach genial.
Added a load of songs to my playlist. Love this album.
CCR is such an underrated band.
I’ve always loved Creedence. Especially their focus on the guitar as much as vocals. Great balance
CCR ... 12 points
Creedence BABY
Great album from start to finish!
I really liked this! Chill and good vibes. 9
Classico!
before my time, but holds up.
Classique !
Great album. So easy to listen to.
CCR 4eva
Great album. I've always loved Creedence but don't think I've listened to this album start to finish.
Love
Perfect!
Phenomenal. These songs still ring true and clear all these years later.
One of the most underrated band of the 60s. This album and Cosmos Factory are two of the most influential albums in American music.
Great
Classic.
Listened to CCR greatest hits right after. Gotta love "swamp rock" by a band from San Francisco.
I love the sound of John fogerty so it’s kind of unfair. This album rules
So great. Love creedence.
Effortless.
a great classic album
best one yet -- but I knew I'd like it
The classics are classics for a reason. Best track: Green River
Everyone loves creedence, including me. Haven't listened to this album explicitly but I know a heap of the songs already. Maybe a full 5/5? After listen: yep.
Great album
Pretty good. Not my usual style but I enjoyed it :)
Some easy listening! These are fun songs that stand the test of time.
This album is timeless in places, predictable in others, and it does have a couple of low points — there's a guitar solo somewhere in there that was pretty awful. And John Fogerty... I used to think I didn't really like him as a vocalist, but I do. There's something about his deliberate unintelligibility that irks me (wrote a song for everyone sounded like another phrase altogether), but he's got the goods and is an immediately identifiable character. I'm going with a 4-star, even though I'm at a 3.5. But wait... the next album on the list is CCR, likely going with a 3 to balance things out.
I felt a little icky giving Bayou Country 2 stars. It didn't deserve that. (I actually went back and made it a 3.) This one's much better, though. Jesus, that dude can write. Still, I think these guys are best served up by Chronicle, their greatest hits album.
Wow I forgot how much I love CCR!
When I say I'm patriotic, I mean listening to this album, driving down an old country road in my chevy to a lake where i'll have a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other.
Could you imagine walking into a bar in the south with these guys ripping?? So good. Fogerty and gang are special. 4.3
Didn’t hit me as hard as Cosmo’s Factory, but still very enjoyable. This is my kind of country music. 8/10 Most Excellent
Amazing album, songs flow very well and it's easy to listen to. The band sounds so well together, and the lyrics are great. Recommended 100%
Probably CCR's best overall record, although they were admittedly more of a singles band. This is loaded with great classic songs--just straightforward honest rock & roll.from one of the best bands to come from America.
Not bad! 3.7
Foi legal
qué banda del carajo CCR. gracias papá. lo poco que compartimos vale mucho.
Green River - 5/5 Commotion - 4/5 Tombstone Shadow - 3/5 Wrote a Song for Everyone - 3/5 Bad Moon Rising - 5/5 Lodi - 4/5 Cross-Tie Walker - 3/5 Sinister Purpose - 4/5 The Night Time Is the Right Time - 3/5 Average score: 3.8/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I quite liked the song Green River it’s got the classic Creedence vibe to it. Tombstone Shadow was also pretty good. Not too sure about Wrote A Song For Everyone it was a tad slow for my liking but honestly pretty good album in general. And of course the classic Bad Moon Rising which is hard to say anything bad about.
Really enjoyable. CCR are good.
Saved? ✅ Would listen again? ✅ Would recommend to anyone? ✅ Would buy on Vinyl? ✅
A solid album with 3 or 4 songs making the rotation on radio. Not the best of the 3 albums they released in 1969. Too bad they got ego issues.
Listened previously. Expectations: High - Verdict: Near Perfect - This is my least listened CCR album of the 1969 trio but it's still excellent. The title track and opener immediately starts grooving along and then the rest of the album just keeps on chooglin'. I love Creedence, they might be my favourite American band other than the Dead.
Very nice. I liked almost all songs. 4/5.
This is what humidity sounds like
Why is this album so bouncy bouncy. Very good overall. But I like have you ever seen the rain better. So a weak 4.
I have yet to be disappointed by a CCR album. These guys just get it. Every song is solid and two big hits make this an easy 4 star.
Have I listened to this album before No How familiar am I with this album I know some songs How do I feel about this artist? I really like CCR Pre-Listen Thoughts: This album probably has the least amount of CCR songs I know from this generator but I am sure I'll still like it. Favorite track(s): Bad Moon Rising Post-Listen Thoughts: A solid 4, I do enjoy CCR. The whole swampy southern act is absolutely hilarious especially since they’re all from California.
This is my last CCR of the 3 in the 1001 and probably my favourite. I have discovered during this 1001 journey, just how much a part of their story longer jams are, but they are absent on “Green River”. I’m not saying I can’t get with them stretching out, in fact their organic vibe, much like Crazy Horse is exactly the kind of zone I am happy to get settled into and groove with for longer than is strictly necessary. But when it comes down to it, it’s Fogerty’s songs that are my main reason for tuning in to CCR and this album delivers again and again crisply and succinctly. None of the more well known songs are putting the rest to shame. It’s quality all the way and when they finally throw in a cover, while they may not make it their own (can’t figure out if they are inspired more by The Sonics’ or Ray Charles’ version, or another?) but “Night Time is the Right Time” fits right in with the rest of the album.
Great album front to back. A few familiar tunes, and a few unknown ones, but those unknown tunes did not come across as filler at all. Solid 4. Would spin again.
A couple of songs at the end I didn't care for, but great stuff.
easy listening but not memorable for me
Great sound. Really holds up a half century later. 3.5/5. Raising to 4.
I really liked the vibe of the whole album, it was very fun and easy going
Bra! Gillar hela albumet men kanske Bad Moon Rising och Lodi lite extra. Gillar låten Green River också. Detta CCR gillar jag. Rockigt och enkelt, ibland behöver man liksom inte mer.
69s geese
Some great ones on here eh
Imagine to have to listen to this during a war, being a soldier, in another country
Vintage CCR, love the style, the voice, the vibe. Slightly less chopper in to 'Nam than some of their other stuff but this is one of the first albums I've listened to all the way through. In between a 3 and 4 for this one - gonna give it a 4. I really like their slower stuff more than the more up-beat songs. Fave songs: Wrote a song for everyone, Bad Moon Rising, The Night Time is the Right Time
Tykkäsin! Sellaista leppoisaa rokkia. 4/5.
CCR ont sorti assez d'albums juste en 1969 pour justifier un greatest hits.
8/10 - They jam hard Fav Tracks: Bad Moon Rising, Tombstone Shadow, Green River, Sinister Purpose Heard before? ---–- ✅ Saved a Song? ----- ✅ Saved Album? --–-- ✅ Will Listen Again? -- ✅
If “Bad Moon Rising,” “Lodi,” and the title track won’t get you to four stars, what will? A classic.
4 1/2 stars
Some great songs (Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi) mixed in with forgettable blues-rock. Decent record. I wonder of John Fogerty ever thought, while recording Bad Moon Rising, that this would be a song forever associated with werewolves. Is Creedence really a werewolf band at heart?
This is the first album that was containing songs that I used to listen. I really like the Green River song. The album is nice
Vraiment cool
8.0/10 Really liked this one... they have such a cool and distinct sound
Pretty solid stuff, Fogerty’s vocals are unmistakable
Took me back to the 60’s and my learning curve of new and exciting music
My dad loved CCR and passed that on to me. Great album full of classic songs. And I grew up just north of Lodi.
Fogerty vocals are as strong as ever. Probably preferred Cosmo’s Factory slightly but CCR as an album experience is a lot of fun
This album is not something I would generally listen to or even pick. However, it was a pleasant surprise to me how upbeat and different it was to my usual album choices.
Never listened before but feels like it’s one I’ve probably heard everywhere without knowing
Unborn the year it was released. Their music is familiar from movies and past listenings. With a coffee in hand, reading modern American literature on a summer morning in Greece in 2026, my spirit and soul travel with this incredible record. Lucky those who lived through Woodstock. Favorites: Lodi, Bad moon rising, the night time is the right time.
CCR most underrated band of all time. Bad Moon Rising? Green River? Are you kidding me?
John Fogerty and CCR are Southern Rock titans, but it's not because they grew up where hoppin' Jon is a side dish. It's because they took their love of R&B music ("The Night Time is the Right Time") and spun it through Country Rock ("Cross Tie Walker" sounds like Johnny Cash could've performed it), and what comes out is classic rock to the core. One great thing about these guys is that even though they were in San Francisco in the Haight-Ashbury heydey, they are very economical with their songs. No 10-minute jam sessions, just get in and hit you with their lyrics. A treat, and somehow this is one of THREE albums they released in 1969!
Great album! Obviously knew the hits, but it was fun to hear some more solid bluesy rock by these boys. Fogerty's voice is perfect as the front man. Also this cover looks like something the anti-drug coalition would have used in the late 60s. "Don't get high on drugs kids - get high on music and nature instead!"
Listened on the way home with Faye from Umatilla waterfront, 06/05/26. Great album, but selective on what songs I like. 4 stars
Good
It is crazy to think CCR was able to release 2, let alone 3 albums in the year of 1969. You'd think that each project would go down in quality but Green River feels a whole lot more defined and memorable than the last project. The range of music included in this 29 minute album is nothing short of impressive. There are hard rocking cuts and some more somber and emotional beats. Green River is the first album in CCR's discography I feel shows the legendary status of this band to put out music that sticks with you and rings in your ears when you least expect it. Thankfully this album is also super replayable as you can pick it up from any point and soar without it ever feeling like too big of a jump to get into again. I cannot wait to dive more into CCR because at this rate they can only really go up from here!
Creedence is solid so happy to give it a spin. I found Wrote a Song for Everyone to be a great hidden gem. Surprised to discover Bad Moon Rising was only 2:19 long. Amazing that they cranked this and two other full albums out in the same year. Would happily spin this up again when I'm feeling in the mood for some classic rock n roll.
Classic rock in the purest sense - simple, straightforward, heartfelt, and well played. There's nothing too fancy here (though there are some interesting riffs in tracks like "Commotion" and "Sinister Purpose"), but this music is very good at being what it is. The band is tight, and the swamp-rock sound is uniquely CCR.
Nice lille Swamp Rock album. Standouts: Green River, Commotion (Nice hooky bass-line), Wrote A Song For Everyone, Bad Moon Rising
Fun songs, Nice guitar work
"Green River", "Bad Moon Rising", "Sinister Purpose" are quite amazing.
don't have a lot to say here, very nice album, reminds me of a lazy summer. good shit
So fuckin' good! Wish it was longer, felt cool considering my little brother brought this band up to me.
Felt like I was taking a nap under a tree with a creek flowing nearby
I would feel wrong giving it a full five stars but four seems cheap. Absolute classic, and the two instrumental tracks at the end are excellent, easily my favorites from this, and I say that as someone who has a deep appreciation for Bad Moon Rising.
29 minutes of jangly, blues-y, Americana-y catchy tunes. John Fogerty is 1 of 1....a great rock voice, a great writer of simple songs, and great at being equal parts original and familiar, without sounding played out. There is no one like CCR...they make it sound easy. One of those bands who is just universally.....good? I dont know how to say it because I feel like I cant picture anyone being like "i HATE this"
pourquoi j’ai jamais entendu parlé d’eux ??????
CCR has quite a few songs on here I’d put on a playlist, and the rest are still full of quality songwriting and instrumentation. Wrote a song for Everyone and Bad Moon Rising are two that will be remembered best for me, though I feel the same song structure was used for the rest, though the entire album was enjoyable. Overall Score: Light 7
Great band, good album. All of their albums are always worth a listen, this included.
Leuk album, luistert lekker weg
Wow, this was my vibe
Soothing when it had to be and vibey when it had to be. Fantastic mix of genres while maintaining consistency, can’t believe its from 1969.
Brasil decime que se siente 🎶
This is rock music, satisfying, if repetitive. I feel like I was born knowing these songs.
Classic band classic album. It’s good music but I personally don’t enjoy this as much as I used to. Low 4 for classic status but close to a 3. 3.5/5
I mean come on? Ubiquitous or what? Any day with CCR is a good day 😍
groovy i’ll tell ya
Full of classics and the tracks between are good as well
Good
Rate: 8/10.
Great album. Couple of amazing songs. Fogerty's vocals throughout are really good. Just a good listen from start to finish.
#12 CCR always seems like the most appropriate soundtrack for a sweltering hot day, so naturally this one generated for me on the first 90 degree day of the year. Several of their biggest hits are on this album, and the relatively short runtime works in its favor, as there isn't much filler here. Overall a very solid classic rock album, and an important part of a great band's catalog.
i know what i literally just said about 60s rock but...i love these guys, man. idk what it is, but i really enjoy their work
THE CCR ALBUM. Entire album feels like the soundtrack to a fever dream or wild flashback that I truly enjoy.
I wish I could have seen them live. Awesome band. Great album!
Loved this
Yep, enjoyed this one. Also took a gander into the rest of their back catalogue and found it even more entertaining. Good album.
Mark Kermode is a massive Creedence Clearwater Revival fan, so now I get the references. This was fun, and didn’t get the bad kind of weird like that Clapton one. Made a good tidal radio playlist too.
Great 60s jams. A bit on the simpler side, but still pleasant.
Four libtards from California larping as hicks from the bayou, and it’s never sounded better
Favorite song: Lodi Least favorite song: Cross-Tie Walker
Yeah this was fun - so many classics on here. Crazy that this was one of three LPs for them that year. But yeah, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Easily my favorite CCR I’ve heard. I like that they picked up the pace more on this one. The boys were just having a hootin good time and everyone was locked in.
Bluesy, edgy rock for its time and all time.
This isn't even the best album CCR put out in its year. It's arguably not even the second best released within a year of itself. Which sort of speaks to what CCR was about… it is really impressive how iconic they ended up in so brief a time. Arguably rock's greatest appropriation act, Creedence all but defines swamp blues despite being California boys. Some of that is Fogerty's voice. Some of that is that distinctive guitar tone. The title track is a stomper. Lodi is a classic plea to escape a dead end town. Bad Moon Rising feels superstitious in a way that feels distinctly bayou. It's kinda amazing how well they create a sound that feels so at home in a setting they don't know. I didn't realize how comforting this sound would be. It's brief, but tight. It delivers exactly what you would want from it, and if tracks like Sinister Purpose and Wrote a Song For Everyone don't shine like the hits, they still remain more than filler, part of a clutch of songs that don't really have any gristle on them, that are all at least good (and let's be real, some of these songs are just as solid as the hits: Cross-Tie Walker came to mind immediately). Light 4* territory again.
Four libtards from California larping as hicks from the bayou, and it’s never sounded better
great album, very nice country/folk rock. I really enjoyed this one, only a couple of songs that I didn't care for. Overall a nicely energetic set of songs. I would definitely listen again but maybe not purchase it. still a 4 star album
Somehow CCR released three albums in 1969 and they were all good.
Mikið hrikalega er Creedence frábært band. Algjörlega minn tónlistarstíll og ég gæti hlustað aftur og aftur. Lögin eru samt nokkuð lík sem dregur plötuna aðeins niður.
yep fine
This is the second CCR album I’ve reviewed on this list, and it’s another good listen. I probably prefer Cosmo’s factory to this one but the bluesy rock sound just works, good driving songs. Also had a moment of quiet reflection listening to bad moon rising, which is what the Diogo Jota song is based on. YNWA #20
ПриЯтно послушать после кучи всякого арт говна
Classic CCR swamp music, plus the fact that they have perfectly conveyed the despair that is being stuck in Lodi. Again.
1. "Commotion" 2. "Bad Moon Rising" 3. "Lodi"
En honor a mi padre, un 4
Ive always known CCR's hits rip, its good to know that their deeper discography does as well. Some great stuff, a lot of it sounds the same but the album doesn't overstay its welcome so ill give it a pass. 4/5
Honestly so many of their songs are just 'good', but it's the good kind of good that you can listen to anytime. Favorite track: Wrote a Song For Everyone (although Bad Moon Rising has a special place in my heart because it's my dad's favorite song, and has always been his ringtone.)
This is what I wrote about Bayou Country: I just really like CCR - both Fogerty’s voice and the atmosphere that the music brings. There are some fillers on here, but most of the songs are great. I would write the same about this album. Bad moon rising is a banger though, and this album doesn’t have those cover songs so it might be the better of the two albums
I love the sound of the south that the singer is giving, a lot of country wanting to be country
Haven’t heard this before I don’t think… Oh yes I have! Ha, well so I guess this was in my dad’s collection! God, this exercise is worth it for nostalgia alone! 4 stars. Boolean rating: yes! Glad I heard it as a kid so I could hear it again as an adult before I die.
Usually just a Best Of band for me - but what a Best Of!!! Really pleased to discover that the album tracks I didn’t know were just as good as the classics I did know.
Solid start with the title track. I kind of forgot about this one forever, but it was a single back in the day I guess. It's just not played as much as Bad Moon Rising or Fortunate Son. All around good album. 4/5
Hard to not dig CCR. Never gets old.
very fun! very familiar music, felt super homey.
This was fire!
like itttt :))
A great listen, lots of hits. Happy to hear some new-to-me CCR. Also, 3 albums in the same year? Crazy!
cantable
Ja beetje zwak voor ccr
for whatever reason, bayou country didn't hit at all. this has way more blues/ southern rock energy and better deep cuts while having two of their best singles (green river and bad moon rising). Commotion is a jam, wrote a song for everyone has some of that old outlaw country vibes.
Liked it 2 big hits bad moon rising and green river
Groovy, 4/5. Favourite song: Cross-Tie Walker
An excellent album, and a great mixture of country, rock, blues, pop and west coast Americana.
Another brilliant CCR album. The third one I've had the pleasure of listening to during this list, and I've loved every one. Green River, Tombstone Shadow (my favourite track of the lot), Wrote A Song For Everyone and Bad Moon Rising are all fantastic songs. I could listen to John Fogerty all day, just an overwhelmingly cool sounding guy. This album is so cool.
Pretty good album. Short and sweet, just some solid country rock. Nothing here is transcendant in my opinion, but it's all very well put together and pleasant listening
Some songs obviously already familiar to me. The whole album felt cohesive and meaningful. I will have to give it a listen when I have a chance to be more focused on it.
Country can be interesting when done well!!
It's an fine album. It's not my kind of music, but I appreciate it nonetheless. I think I'll like it more after a few more listens in the future.
Got already
Solid listen.
Sonido y estilo marcado, dura justo lo que tiene que durar y tiene dos temazos históricos, sabe representar mucho el sonido del blues rock y me enganchó totalmente, muy sólido álbum.
unreal!! also supernatural core: end of season 1 when the impala gets hit by the truck driver that was possessed by a demon. slay
8/10 Favorites: Green River Tombstone Shadow Bad Moon Rising Lodi Sinister Purpose
It made me feel warm listening to this record—like that Bayou heat. Such a great sound, an excellent album from ’69.
Very solid album. Bad moon rising is a classic and John fogerty has a memorable voice
me gusto mucho el instrumental
J'ai bien aimé. Je le réécouterai.
Feels very American, but in a good way. There are no bad songs, it's a great country rock album- short and sweet! Favourite song: Bad Moon Rising Least: The Night Time Is The Right Time
I like this album!
It's just very good. Doesn't outstay It's welcome. Yeah. Solid.
More hootin and hollerin.
pretty good! better than meat is murder.
Okay I was expecting more dad rock but this stuff totally slaps yayyyyyy
Quintessential Blues Rock.
Pretty good.
very enjoyable!
Tombstone shadow: I like the existential dread and needing to go on vacation for 13 months and not fly in a plane Sinister purpose, bad moon rising apocalyptic themes
Classic Creedence. Great mix of country and rock
This album probably has a lower ceiling than the other few we’ve had but man the floor these guys have is remarkable. And Lodi rips
Probably the weakest of the three CCR albums we’ve been given but it still rips. The generator knows it’s springtime and it’s time to drive with the windows down.
One of the other reviewers said "CCR is like a good pair of jeans. Reliable, comfortable, enjoyable." I couldn't agree more. Green River, Commotion, and Bad Moon Rising are your hits, but Lodi and Wrote a Song for Everyone are dark horse hits, but the highs fall just short of a 5 for me
Classic one, good one!
Guter Swamp Blues!
Quite liked this
Green River - 4.5/5 Commotion - 3.5/5 Tombstone Shadow - 3.5/5 Wrote a Song for Everyone - 3/5 Bad Moon Rising - 5/5 Lodi - 4/5 Cross-Tie Walker - 3.5/5 Sinister Purpose - 3.5/5 The Night Time is the Right Time - 3.5/5 Very high quality rock from these guys. I'd say It's not their best album out of the short time the band was together but it's another really good effort. Also helps that it's somehow less than 30 minutes and packs a great punch. Overall: 4/5 Favorites: Green River, Bad Moon Rising
CCR is timeless. This album rocks.
Great album. So solid.
I've listened to a lot of CCR, but never a whole album. I find it really interesting how an album can be this good, then you read "it's one of three albums they put out in that year". Incredible
It’s CCR and it’s cozy. 7/10
Reminds me so much of my parents. They friggin' loved CCR, especially me da. I've got this negative association of CCR with Vietnam movies and boomer glorification films.
Not Cosmo's Factory but great!
It was a good album, I dont usually listen to this sort of country music but it was good. I didnt understand why there were so many unpopular songs though, like some of the songs with 10k Genius reviews were better in my opinion then some of the songs with 450k.Overall solid album 7/10.
Good!
I only knew the groovies as a great punk/new wave band and had never heard their bluesier stuff. This is the best record the Stones never made. Really top-notch stuff, and I can certainly hear how they truene into more of a punk band.
I like how they set the tone right from the start on the title-track. You get the feeling that will be an enjoyable album. CCR to me has been a compilation of feel good hits, so this is my first time going through a full record by them. After the full listen I think it is a good record, but the singles and b-sides are definetly the best songs here. Some parts of Cross-Tie Walker sounds like a poor copy of Folsom Prison Blues. Favourite songs: Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, Commotion.
I think every guy who has a band wants to make this album. It’s just pure music. These are like ur-songs.
Great sound. Thank you to all the blues and R&B artists that came before this group who inspired them into the sound that they became.
Some of the best guitar work I've heard.
Evergreen. Not everything is my style, but I understand its classic status
Overall Rating - 4.44/5 (8.89/10). An all-around classic.
Could listen to this over and over again
Yes. This is it! My second credence record and the first was so disappointing. This was much more what I was expecting from them. Absolutely nothing new or innovative, but just solid basic blues songwriting and packaged with great skill and attention to detail
I can really feel my music knowledge expanding, it's amazing! I probably would've never found that group, don't know if my parents even listened to them. I liked the mix of country, rock and funk elements, but sadly "Susie Q" is not on this album - I discovered it afterwards!
가장 소박한 악기들로 빚어낸, 세상에서 가장 뜨겁고도 서늘한 습지의 풍경화
solid solid
Sounds a little samey, but it’s a good listen and like 30-minute albums. Bad Moon Rising is such a classic.
CCR was so good.
Its unbelievable how JF can pull of a cajun accent so authentically, like he was born in the swamps of Louisiana. JF has a great raw snarl to his voice that perfectly complements the heavy guitar riffs. The album has such a memorable sound thats fun, energetic and unique -somehow distinct from other southern rock.
The swampy atmosphere on this is just so good, CCR have a way of embedding so much personality on their tracks, listening to any of their songs makes me instantly happier. Production wise GR leans on sounding almost stripped back which gives it a live feel, I think JF did the production on this himself and you can really feel his not overly polished attitude coming through. Fogertys vocals are rough and exaggerated, I LOVE how he pronounces words with a sort of Cajun accent (I only recently realised he’s not even from Louisiana) Guitar work is also great across the album, it’s punchy and bluesy without being overly complicated, loads of memorable riffs. The only thing that slightly annoyed me and it’s more of a personal pet peeve than a real criticism, was the inclusion of multiple versions of the same song, idk why I just hate that.
Great southern rock album. Another nice reminder to return to what I use to listen. 1 song added to playlist.
A nice concise listen packed with a few smash hit singles, can’t go wrong really
Love this bayou southern blues rock stuff. A bit samey, but some bangers. Iconic voice.
Almost shocked at how much better this album is than Bayou Country, which came out earlier in the same year (and it is smart of the 1001 generator to give those albums back-to-back, like I received them). Wrote a Song for Everyone is the big discovery for me on this, and the singles all really stand up well. Had a great time.
Liked but not loved it, 8/10, pretty good, pretty simple, very enjoyable
Wrote a Song for Everyone is such good song. The songs aren't musically complex, but the writing is top-notch and Fogerty's voice has that throaty, tiresome quality that lends itself to the tunes. The dude abides.
Super easy to listen to. I can see why this was influential. I listened to it on repeat on accident while I was tidying around the house and it was solid.
Good ol classic rock, hits what i would call the cross country road trip vibes. Lead vocal is so iconic at this point its like a comfort blanket. Green River and Bad Moon are clearly the heavy hitters but the rest of the album holds its own. Makes me yearn for simpler times and want to reach out to people to sit around a camp fire.
en slay pour moi
Ну такое конечно, я не огромный фанат такого жанра, но тот же Green River это база. Люблю представлять себя таким крутым парнем живущем в Арканзасе
It's easy to forget just how huge CCR were back in the day. They headlined Woodstock; they had hit after hit, both singles and albums; three chart topping albums in one year; their Greatest Hits collection has spent years on the charts. No-one is going to confuse them for King Crimson. They're straight ahead, country blues Boogie with a dash of Tony Joe White. But they are experts at what they do. They turn up, they rock, they get out. They're not trying to expand your mind or change your ideas about what music is, or deliver a searing message about the dominant societal paradigm. Even though this has Green River, Bad Moon Rising, Commotion and Lodi, it was their next album where they really hit their stride. But as moonshine liquor soaked good times go this is pretty good.
Felt like I was driving with windows down on a sunny day out west listening to this. Felt the soul and grit in the vocals but also guitar and baselines. It was very in your face. Favorite songs are Lodi, wrote a song for everyone, and cross-tie walker. They don’t make music like this anymore. Great album
Not sure I’ve explored this in its entirety, but have definitely rocked out to CCR over the years. Think I had a greatest hits album once. This is all so good. Loving this. Great 60s blues rock/roots sound with hint of country. Great lyrics. Fogerty is awesome. His voice is one of those where you know immediately you’re listening to Creedence. Bad Moon Rising starting off the second half is great. Then it’s followed by maybe the best song on the album, Lodi. It’s as fun and easy of a listen there is out there. Not sure if anything really transcends it to next level 5, but a clear solid 4. Gotta say, what a relief to get a short nice album sometimes.
This album is great coming in only knowing bad mood horizon and leaving with five brand new songs is what I’m looking forward throughout this whole process of going through all these albums. The other songs were good and just not my style four out of 10 great job. CCR will definitely return to you guys again.
buen álbum
Great, classic rock throughout, really enjoyed this one
23/02/2026 *1. green river - liking the guitar immediately... loving all the guitars together. rocknroll-y but also folksy! love it!!! *2. commotion - guitar and drums at the start are great. bass just started!!! love the kindof fuzzy guitar riff. love the ending! *3. tombstone shadow - i've only ever heard bad moon rising before and did not think ccr was this bluesy! love the groove... 4. wrote a song for everyone - more acoustic and laidback. not as big a fan as the other songs, but still a nice song :) 5. bad moon rising - know this vaguely from an american werewolf in london... nice! 6. lodi - liking the start.... second half of this album has gotten less rock and more country... still nice, but liked the other songs more 7. cross-tie walker - love the bass in this one. slide guitar? *8. sinister purpose - love the vibes in this one... bass and guitar are fantastic together. drums towards the end are realllly nice as well. *9. the night time is the right time - immediately very bluesy... guitar solo is peak! love the bass.... great!!! before this challenge, i considered myself a massive fan of southern american, swampy rock - but after hating the white stripes i did start to reconsider, but this has absolutely reaffirmed my love for it (and my dislike of the white stripes......). did lull a bit in the more acoustic, folksier middle - if it was a straight folk album i wouldn't mind as i did still like the songs, but i was really enjoying the more electric blues and rock, but did really enjoy it again towards the end.
America
total bangers.
Unfortunately this doesn't hit like Cosmo's Factory does. Green River and Bad Moon Rising are great, but don't carry the rest enough. That being said, I always love and appreciate their sound.
Wrote a song for everyone a new discovery. Great album
Muy buen disco. Primera vez que lo escucho completo. Rock y nada mas. Y nada menos.
Great band and an excellent album. Highlights include: Green River, Lodi, Bad Moon Rising and Sinister Purpose. 4.6
Excellent album.
8 - GOOD
This is a rock solid swamp rock album championed by possibly CCR's best song 'bad moon rising'. Unfortunately I learned that CCR is actually from the San Francisco Bay area and not Louisiana and I found that profoundly disappointing. That does explain a similarity I always noticed between CCR and the Dead, similar timeframe, similar locales. Just food for thought I suppose
enjoyed the grunge folky style of the band
I really liked this album. Lodi and Bad Moon Rising are my two favorite CCR songs and I had no idea they were back to back. So neat.
CCR is very much My Shit. This album, like every other one of theirs I've listened to, is very good front to back, with a few songs (here, "Bad Moon Rising") that are top-tier great. There are very few surprises here, almost no disappointments, just a very excellent rock record. Loved the two-track instrumental closer of "Broken Spoke Shuffle" and especially "Glory Be." Great stuff.
