Reviews (page 4 of 9)

Really enjoyed it. Some bangers and every song in the album is good or at least decent, with some being great. (78%)

I know so many of these songs but haven’t listen to full. And learned a few new ones or a bit rockabilly with Big 10 inch record

Standout songs: No More No More, Round and Round, Uncle Salty, Toys in the Attic

Great listen, shows Aerosmith is worth listening to beyond the hits. Classic tracks include “Walk this Way” and “Sweet Emotion”, but the rest of it is classic Aerosmith sound worth coming back to. 4/5.

Second Aerosmith album of my list, first one was Rocks. It's good, but as far as 70s rock bands go I don't think they'll ever be my favourite. I'd need to listen to Rocks again to compare this to it, and I wager there will be a couple more Aerosmith records to come before the 1001 is done. But yeah, it seems a bit middle-of-the-road and I think there were other bands doing better than this back in '75. This wasn't really bad and I might listen again - Walk This Way is a classic, after all. It feels like the energy of the album jumps around too much. One song gets my full attention and the next song totally loses it. Just decent in my opinion, but not a stand-out record. Favourite - Walk This Way

A big fave back in the day.

The production quality on this album is really quite impressive. Seems great for playing on a sunny morning weekend to get the energy flowing. Actually a pretty great rock album despite how trailer trash American it feels

- Dad rock vibes - Pretty good, had some classic songs - 7.5/10

I'm not a big Aerosmith fan, but this is a pretty great album actually. Only a couple duds, most of the singles are some of my favorites by the band, and there's some great album tracks in there too. Honestly, would relisten. 3.5/5

This album makes you wonder why Aerosmith decided to become Air Supply in the 90s.

I was really glad to have this one here. I have found that I quite like the 70s incarnation of Aerosmith. While "Walk this Way" is a bona fide Aerosmith classic, I'm embarrassed to admit that "Sweet Emotion" is one of those songs I've heard frequently all my life, yet had no idea it was Aerosmith. Who knew? My favorite new discovery was the big ol' over-the-top orchestrated "You See Me Crying."

Fave track: Sweet Emotion

decent album with 2 bangers

8/10 Surprised me, knew some songs but all were good

I tried, y'all. I tried to find a 5-star review here. But it's just not a 5-star record. It's two massive hits shoved into the middle of a bunch of good-but-not-great rock tracks. Those hits are true monsters, no doubt, but they stick out because they're SO different from the rest of the album. The whiplash of "Walk This Way" to "Big Ten Inch Record" to "Sweet Emotion" is utterly disorienting. They don't sound like the same band recorded all three tracks. At least the album is symmetrical? Three tracks of alright-but-kinda-boring dad rock, a banger, a turd, a banger, and three tracks of alright-but-kinda-boring dad rock. It's a good thing those two bangers are all-time great, hall-of-fame jams. Otherwise this would have score a lot lower. A lot.

Really enjoy the energy and driving hard rock from Aerosmith. Very easy to listen to the songs on this album. Also the innuendo in Big Ten Inch Record is genuinely funny. Love how Stephen Tyler has no problem coming right through the front door with this one.

Toys in the Attics is about as quintessential as classic rock gets. Although there aren't any there truly fantastic songs until the end, most of them are straight classics. They hit just the right sort of fun rock-and-roll itch that classic rock tends to fall short of. Fun all the way through, and a great vibe. Standout tracks: Toys in the Attics, No More No More, Round and Round, You See Me Crying ---------------------------------------- Individual Song Ratings: Toys in the Attic - Fantastic Uncle Salty - Great Adam's Apple - Fantastic Walk This Way - Great Ten Inch Record - Great Sweet Emotion - Great No More No More - Fantastic Round and Round - Masterpiece You See Me Crying - Masterpiece Rating Average: 3.8 Final Album Rating: 4

Steve Tyler is a fucking creep, but this album does kinda rock so fuck it

Good rock and/or roll from Joe Perry and his paedo pal

Context: Only knew a few songs from Aerosmith Listens: 1 This album is very surprising as I wasn't expecting any Blues music but you can almost feel the band transition to their more well know sound in tracks like Walk this Way and Sweet Emotion, fun listen.

Good classic rock, some orchestral stuff thrown in as well

I knew some of the songs but rock is not my favorite genre.

70s Aerosmith was adrenaline and this album is prove of it. With a couple of successful songs that are still widely played almost 50 years after and other solid bangers, Toys in the Attic is one of the best 70s hard rock albums. I does not disappoint, I guess…

Rating: 7/10 Best songs: Walk this way, You see me crying

Powerful classic rock: may not be their finest work but with filled with powerful guitar riffs and making you feel like a heavily tattooed American biker. Once “walk this way” came in the album was set in stone to do well. A really enjoyable album.

sumamente inmersivo

I will give it 4 stars for 2 iconic 70s songs. The rest is a 3 star album.

Sweet Emotion belongs on my “best songs ever” list, and the whole album rocks heartily.

Really nice. Ive heard some Aerosmith before but there was some very zeppelin like songs in there that i enjoy even more, and then of course that joe petty guitar😍

I like this more than the other dad rock on the list, but generally wouldn't listen to on my own. Best Tracks are the singles + Adam's Apple

It should be a 3.5 star rating, because there’s some seriously filler shit on here, but I’ll err on the side of generosity due to the stone-legend bangers on this record.

Solid classic rock album, maybe their best. 4 stars.

A couple of dad rocky things, some glam rocky inspired things, and a couple of great tracks. As a playlist it feels a bit weak, but the parts are good.

Huh, think I like this more than "Pump", which is the only Aerosmith album I had much familiarity with before this project. Almost tempted to dock it a star for the awfulness of "Big Ten Inch Record"... 🙄 Fave tracks - "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion" are the tracks I'd heard the most before, and are obviously iconic. Also really liked "Round and Round" - they were sounding a bit Sabbathy on that one!

Has some iconic songs, it’s a fun album. Needs more Run DMC, though. 4/5

I actually bumped it up to a 4, subjectively, because of the two iconic songs on this album that are actually very good

Een beetje kitscherig en fout, maar aan de andere kant ook nog best prima. Track 2 vond Shania Twain ook mooi denk ik. Dieptepunt vond ik Big Ten Inch Record, hoogtepunt No More No More. Verder valt me op dat Steven Tyler af en toe een beetje klinkt als Freddy Mercury, dat was me nog nooit opgevallen. Weer een 3,5 eigenlijk. Als ik moet kiezen neig ik naar een 4, omdat het me meeviel.

This is strange after growing up on Aerosmith post-Pump. Obvi some top shelf classic rock cuts from this album, such as walk this way and sweet emotion. However, Toys in the Attic is one of the worst opening tracks I have ever heard. 3.8/5.

It's very solid across the whole album. Nice guitar work, nice singing, nice tunes in general. There's some standouts of course - Sweet Emotion is always going to be up there. Walk This Way is a classic. I really like 'No More No More', there's some great guitar and keys on that. I'm glad I gave this a second listen, because I didn't give it enough focus first time around. It holds up well with the second play-through, and I'll listen to it more from here for sure.

I can’t believe Aerosmith made the Great American Rock Album twice in a row. Well, almost. I think Rocks is tighter and heavier. Most of the songs here are nearly as good, although “Big Ten Inch Record” adds nothing, and if I never hear “Walk This Way” again, I won’t shed a tear, but it has the bones for a perfect rock song. So yeah, a good time, might be a masterpiece if their following album wasn’t even better. A-

Quality and very fun. Great production: this album SOUNDS great 3.5

Good classic Aerosmith

Virtuoso playing and singing with weirdly inconsistent song writing.

Big Ten Inch Record is a song so dumb I'd be disappointed if it WASN'T on this record. Sweet Emotion is still a great song. Walk This Way is a pretty okay song, if a little weak sounding. This is pretty good Aerosmith. This sounds like what Aerosmith always wanted to sound like, ya know? They did it here. So good on them.

Same score, but for opposite reasons as Craig. I really quite like most everything about this record EXCEPT "Big Ten Inch Record." Get rid of it! Go on! Get! How good of a closer is "You See Me Crying"? Sure, that's a song that maybe predicted the overwrought ballad days ahead for Aerosmith, but between it and "Dream On," there was all the reason in the world to think that they knew how to do that type of song better than most. And then Michael Bay came calling.

Didnt expect much but actually enjoyed it a lot.

This is an amazing bit of the 70s. The song "Toys in the Attic" alone makes it worthwhile. Really, Aerosmith v1 at its height

Classic Aerosmith album, it still rocks nowadays. Arguably, Aerosmith at it´s best. Full of awesome riffs, and honestely, I had a lot of fun listening this. Really enjoyed Fav Tracks: "Uncle Salty" "Sweet Emotion" "Round and Round" "You see me crying" (A great ballad btw)

classic Aerosmith.

Man I love cocaine. I haven’t listened to a lot of Aerosmith but walk this way is an undeniable banger. Big tench inch record 😂😂😂 it funny bc he talking about his cock 😂😂😂😂😂 Oh fuck sweet emotion is on here too?? This song is so good, I love the way some films have used it as well. This closing track is a banger too, steve Tyler can be a pretty badass dude when he’s not adopting a 16 year old girl so he can have sex with her!! 👍: sweet emotion, you see me crying 👎: no more no more, round and round

1. Adam’s Apple 2. Walk This Way 3. No More No More

Buen disco de rock con canciones melódicas, abundancia de guitarras y voz característica. Cierto toque blues en algunas canciones

It's Aerosmith.

Some classic rock, love it

Okay, this actually had better blues and rock moments than I remember, and is overall much preferable to the Aerosmith I remember from the 80s.

With righteous riffage and a surprising impeccable taste for groove, Toys in the Attic is Aerosmith taking that first big leap into becoming the mammoth rock and roll band they were meant to be. With hidden gems masquerading alongside classic staples that would soon blossom into unlikely launchpads for different artists in different genres, this is worthwhile listening for anyone wanting to garner a glimpse into who Aerosmith were and were about to become. Favorites: Toys in the Attic, Uncle Salty, Adam's Apple, Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion, Round and Round.

Really cool album to get more into aerosmith's work since I only knew Dream On, I don't wanna miss a thing and walk this way before that. They have a really diverse sound and the album had many stand outs

I liked how all the parts actually got a chance to sing out rather than just act as a backing track like current music. Some banging bass lines too. Only thing I wanted was more interesting tunes because the songs aren’t particularly catchy on the whole.

Oh no, another Aerosmith album. But wait.... It's good? Toys in the attic is decent even if I might honestly still prefer REMs half arsed cover on Dead Letter Office. Mr Salty is... still decent, musically interesting, what's happening here? Then we get into original Walk this way territory, which just sounds weird to hear without RunDMC (also the chorus is worse) but it's still a banger (the guitar solo might be better), and Sweet Emotion, the best Aerosmith song by a significant distance. It's actually good! Big Ten Inch is obviously a massive pile of shite, but it wouldn't be an Aerosmith record without something diabolically bad, so I'm actually not going to mark it down! Worst songs, Big Ten Inch, Adams Apple - everything else was alright to very good.

Would listen to some songs again

Genres: Hard rock, blues rock Formed: Boston in 1970 Run time: 9 songs, 37 min 7 sec This is certainly a popular album on Spotify. The least played track has over 2M plays. “Sweet Emotion” has over 300M plays and “Walk This Way” has almost 400M plays. I love Aerosmith’s music. Some of the tracks on this album are amazing, some are OK and some are just filler. They can certainly write great songs, but not everything they wrote was great. As was the case with many 70’s albums, getting it released was more important than filling it with great content. If I listen to an album I want to like every track on it and I’m very disappointed and annoyed when I don’t. Today we just hit skip and move on but back then, you either put up with the mediocre tracks or you had to get up and physically do something to get to the next track – mix-tape anyone? I like songs that tell a story. Aerosmith doesn’t shy away from a difficult tale. “Uncle Salty” is about a girl taken away from her parents and put in “care”. She is abused and subsequently follows her mother’s career as a sex worker. The material is hard to deal with and it won’t be the last such song Aerosmith releases (“Janie’s Got a Gun”). The band became infamous for drug taking and the problems that caused almost ended their career. I don’t know what catalysed their clean-up, but whatever it was, it probably saved their lives. They were down on their luck until the Hip-hop group Run-DMC sampled “Walk This Way” and invited them to record a music video together. The result was responsible for the revival of Aerosmith. There old material was brough to a new generation (me included) and allowed them to go on a make many more great recordings. I still prefer the Run-DMC version of the song. Will I listen to the album again? No. I’ll play the ‘best of’ to listen to the good tracks. My Rating: ***(*)

I can see why this would have made a splash back in 1975. Some great tunes - pretty garbage cover, though.

Very good, very consistent, very of its time. A song like ten inch record would probably not be released nowadays!

This is some very weak tea. Especially for '74 considering some of the music being released around then. But...Walk this way is a hit and Sweet Emotion is one of my favourite songs of all time. So i dunno.

Quite enjoyed it

One of the great ones from my high school days.

Classic Aerosmith

I really liked this album. I knew a lot of the songs but I never listened the whole thing through and I was really loving it. Sweet emotion is so good reminds me vividly of dazed and confused the movie. High 4 basically 5.

It’s rock! I like it!

Classic Aerosmith as I remember from junior high.

Good stuff

🌞 favourite song: Walk This Way 🌜 least favourite song: Round and Round pretty good as far as classic rock goes. I knew a lot of the songs on this album already so it was a great listen :). I loved the blues influence on this album. Very different from later Aerosmith (which I don't like). ✨4/5💫

Top tier first act Aerosmith, nothing much to add over what I've said before regarding this very consistent band.

Love it. Fun, saucy, riffy rockers. Two of Aerosmith's greatest tracks ever on this album in "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way." I don't think the band ever sounded tighter than they do here. Fave Songs: Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, Uncle Salty, Round and Round, You See Me Crying, Adam's Apple

No. ¿Es pop? Tampoco.

Nice Saved songs: Toys In The Attic, Walk This Way, Big Ten Inch Record, No More No More

It rocks along quite nicely but lacks the edge of it's nearest rivals.

Brought back some good memories...

enjoyable. nice

A very proper hard rock album with 2 mega radio hits. It is raw and pure, no glam or theatrics, a defining moment in connecting the 70s to the 80s in terms of rock and metal evolution.

Sweet Emotion still rocks. Album is great in general. A 4.5 if I could give it.

I was pleasantly surprised by this album. I’ve never really been that into Aerosmith so my expectations weren’t that high. But there were some really good songs in this album. 3.5/5

Great classic rock album that deserves a 4 star rating although it won’t get a lot of replay because I’ve heard it all a thousand times

I know of this album, never listened to it all the way through, I know Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion (few songs have a better intro) and maybe a passing acquaintance with the title track. Liked Uncle Salty and was surprised by Big Ten Inch Record, all in all going 4 big ones on the Toys in the Attic.

yeaaaaah

Love it.

No Kratos :(

One of my all time favorites

Toys in the Attic is the third album by American rock band Aerosmith and it's their most commercially successful album in the US. This was the band's first album where they recorded entirely new songs - their first two albums contained songs the band were familiar with because they played them often in clubs. The popular tracks are the title track, Sweet Emotion, and Walk This Way. I thought this album was awesome and I already loved the song Sweet Emotion. It was nice listening to the rest of this album, and I'm looking forward to hearing more from their other albums.

Прослушано! Очень хороший альбом. Можно послушать ещё раз.

Rock de Aerosmith. Un megahit. Un 4.

Goed album, paar klassiekers. Wel wat zachtere rock, maar is ook wat ouder album.

Had some bangers 4

Such a good band

Classic

I had never listened to the entire album before, previously a fan of Sweet Emotion (which can still bring my arms chills on 80 degree days) and Walk This Way (when I kept waiting for Run-DMC to jump in), but I found myself laughing at Big Ten Inch Record, I liked Adam's Apple and You See Me Crying.

This was a great album. Unfortunately I don't remember my detailed thoughts on the entire listen since I went on vacation, but obviously Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way are great!

was prettygood i guess

4,3/5 Was soll man groß sagen außer Banger

I think this is my favorite Aerosmith album both thanks to Guitar Hero Aerosmith and Dad loves most of the songs on here. My two favs being Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion, but Toys In the Attic is another great one too.

Here we go, the big Aerosmith album that I know I asked for when we got Rocks. Of course I dig this one more, both for "Walk this Way" and "Sweet Emotion." "Sweet Emotion" is just a perfectly constructed song in my opinion, starting out so smooth and atmospheric and then settling into a genuine riff groove before bringing us back to that sweet chorus each time. Most all of the tracks on here are solid too, but that one's really special to me. I know this is one of those albums I used to throw on Dad's turntable in the basement. It's a great album folks. Favorite tracks: Sweet Emotion, Walk This Way, Toys in the Attic, You See Me Crying. Album art: Really really love this one, I'd say it's iconic. The big Aerosmith one for sure. The warmth of the brown border and orange font fits nicely with the toybox scene. One of those covers I could just look at and admire for a minute or two, the art is just really cool. 4/5

Masterful guitar riffs and good sound. They play with different styles and it’s fun, but I struggle a lot with hearing the lyrics.

Conclusion: très bonne album, j’en redemande. 4.5

Heavy guitar riffs that are pleasing to the ear ! Le petit piano avec sur certaines tracks qui met giga ienb aussi. Great Hard Rock album ! I think it's the first time I listen to a whole Aerosmith album and I'm going to dig deeper eheh "Walk this way" giga banger 4.5/5

It rocks very well 4/5

This thing was awesome. Aerosmith always with the blues and got sun big band and spacey stuff

Good straight up American Rock n Roll. Has the 2 biggest 70's Aerosmith songs. I think Rocks in there best but this is good. 3.5.

Better then i had expected. Between a 3 and a 4 for me.

Pretty standard 70s rock, but done well. Couple of songs I could've left off, but some great ones, too. Good album.

Really solid classic rock album. Has bangers like Walk this Way and Sweet Emotion. I'm not the biggest fan of 70s/80s rock, but this is the best album from the genre I've had to listen to so far. Best Songs: Walk this Way, Sweet Emotion, You See Me Crying Worst Songs: No More No More

SWAGGER!

3.5/5. Some solid rock from the 70s. It’s not mind blowing or anything, but it’s enjoyable to listen to.

There’s a reason these guys got as big as they did

Classic rock is classic. 10 Inch Record needs more recognition for its subversive awesome-ness.

Steven Tyler plays the shit outta that sugar packet: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=CQAwnN81tq4

Truly gone fishing. My only other Aerosmith experience was playing that truck sex album and saying "this fucking sucks", so pleasantly surprised with this one. A fun record. Has those two songs everybody's heard before, has a song about the singer's massive schlong and having a metric ton of sex, has a song that makes you go "Wait hold on, who turned on Led Zeppelin?" Am I talking about this album or literally any other rock album from 1975? Who cares. I still enjoyed it.

short sweet emotion

Pleasantly surprised at quite a lot of this - Clearly finding their sound but I prefer a lot of the routes they went down on this album to some of the more tired stuff that they come out with later. A lot of this wouldn't sound out of place on a 90s album (and probably influenced a lot). Great energy and musicality. A couple of cringey bits, but you'll always get that with a band like this.

Pretty good rock album. Some big hits and only 1 obvious filler track. Doesn't overstay its welcome at 39 minutes. Nice full orchestra track to conclude the album.

Guitar Hero Aerosmith was my fucking childhood 4

Heard a few of these songs before but not all. Great album - fast paced, great instrumentals.

Rock de Aerosmith. Un megahit. Un 4.

Yeah! Rockin'.

Leuke riffs en goeie muziek.

Sleazy 'n' greasy. The prototype for Guns n Roses. Love me some Aerosmith.

Another one of Aerosmiths really solid 70s releases with some of their biggest hits. Not quite the same consistency as their next album Rocks, but it's still very fun. Favorites: "Toys In The Attic", "Walk This Way", "Sweet Emotion"

Fun rock album. The best I've heard the band and enjoyable from start to finish

Not what I was expecting. It's far more enjoyable than any of their 80's stuff I was clenching my teeth to listen to. It has half decent guitars and a cool 70's Rock (even blues) vibe. And of course there's the Mega hits (Walk and Easy) which goes to prove your pre-conceived ideas can be wrong.

This was a good album. Several well known songs. The songs did not lack and the album was relatively short

Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion

Ok upfront. I didn't think I was going to like this but its pretty ace. Inventive, it grooves, 2 classics and not a duff track amongst the rest. Solid 4. The rhythm is tight and driving and the songs are diverse but do work as a coherent album. Overall I will play this again and is the ultimate test of a 4 album.

Love Aerosmith but never listened a full album of them. Not disappointed after this one. Walk this way is a banger, but the other songs were good too. Overall 3.5 or 4 somewhere in between. Favourite songs: - Walk this way - Big ten inch record - Sweet emotion

Tri massa meu cupinscher

v cool

A true classic Classic Rock album. Songs I know well and are great: Walk this Way, Sweet Emotion. Other songs I know and are really good: Big Ten Inch, Toys in the Attic. Best of the rest: No More No More, You See Me Crying. 4/5

Awesome album, Sweet Emotion is a stone cold classic. I'll definitely revisit this album again.

Very cool

A fun, unpretentious rock album. The first half dips into blues and country, and the second half is more musically ambitious. In the past I haven't thought much of Aerosmith but I was impressed by how comfortably they slip in and out of styles. The big hits "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion" are the clear standouts but I also enjoyed the heavy metal crunch of "Round and Round." It's a first-rate Led Zeppelin knock-off. And "You See Me Crying" is an excellent example of that blown-out string-accompanied 70's drama. Aerosmith don't seem to take themselves too seriously, which adds to their appeal for me. I rolled my eyes at "Big Ten Inch Record," but was surprised to learn that it's a cover of a song from 1952! (The original by Bull Moose Jackson is just as silly.) So Aerosmith aren't just goofy horndogs, they're also scholars of goofy horndogs past!

Pros: - Yet another album I have not heard from start to end. I will probably stop mentioning that since it's becoming common. - It's more like in-your-face rock than i remember. I like the energy shift from the first track into the second track. I'm really big on the idea that a good album should have an upbeat song for it's first or second track - Amazingly crisp production. Guess I've never heard "walk this way" on nice speakers/headphones but WOW is it crisp. Cons: Misc:

Saw them at the Texxas Jam in 87, when the lineup was Tesla, Poison, Whitesnake, Aerosmith, and the headliner, Boston. The vendors were selling t-shirts that had misspelled "Poisson". Maybe they were into fish. Who knows? They also misspelled Texas... When Aerosmith played their set, they were so electric everyone forgot the headliner was yet to take the stage. And when they played Walk This Way... well, it was Texas heat times 25. Boston was touring in support of Third Stage, but I'm sure it was the turning point of one Boston band overtaking another band out of Boston... on their way to making it big.

Very surprised. There really isn't any filler on this album. Even Uncle Salty, Adam's Apple, No More No More, and Round and Round... they all hold their own. The openings for Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way are creative and impactful. Toys in the Attic is the only song i could pass on, mostly because i like R.E.M.'s cover of it better. Even the ballad is solid. Found this really enjoyable rock record.

As an aerosmith fan, I'm glad quite familar with this album. Though this one almost feels like a greatest hits album, with it's mix of genres via it's song and mismatched songs.

Great fun, classic 80's

Big Ten Inch Record and You See me Crying are bangerssssss

Incredible album. Aerosmith is dope, brought me back in time when I would listen to them with the fam.

Pretty fine album but didn’t listen to it too intensely cuz New Mexico. Still love walk this way

Is good, a bit whiny as background music though.

A solid 70’s rock album. It is a little more generic than a lot of it’s legendary contemporaries, but it arguably does that generic sound a lot better than others that tried the same.

A pretty solid, fun rock album. Nothing amazing, but certainly a good listen. More of a 3.5 than a 4.

great album with 2 immortal classics, Sweet Emotion and Walk this way are undoubtedly the best and remarkable songs of the album, but other songs are really enjoyable as well. Solid 4

It is not unusual to hear an album and either wait for it to get good, or skip to the favorite songs. This album is no exception, up and to the point "Walk This Way" is reached, Aerosmith is a hard rocking chore to get through and perhaps that is what lends the song its dominating popularity for how sweet of a reward it is to have gotten there at all. Small break in between, "Sweet Emotion" is on deck and from there whatever Aerosmith desires one had has been likely satiated without so much as a thought to the rest of the album. The review may seem indifferent or negative, so for the sake of objectivity be reminded that it is not often that an album produces two immensely popular tracks that stand on their own. Unless one is an Aerosmith fan, it is not likely that the radio listener even knows that both songs came from the same album, nor would they know that it was from 1975. Fast forward to the 90s, Aerosmith achieved an unlikely popularity and relevance again having followed the formula that "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion" set forth, one can certainly trace the lineage of their popularity back to this album.

So happy to know that Aerosmith didn't always suck super hard. They were a scrappy and hungry rock band once. Cool! It's like all the things about Aerosmith are here, just toned down and tasteful. Never in my life did I think I'd be throwing a 4/5 down for the 'smith! Also, "Walk this Way" is such a jam. I love it.

I don’t know that I’ve ever listened to this album all the way through, but it’s pretty great. 70s Aerosmith checks a lot of boxes for the time. It’s still blues-heavy like the Stones (complete with horns and harmonicas), but they also stand right up with other psychedelic/glam rock bands (a la Sweet Emotion). Plus, you can hear the beginnings of 80s hair bands, power ballads, and heavy metal. I love albums like this - you can hear where it came from and where it’s going.

Great Rock!

Bom reviver o rock and roll

Aerosmith sounds like, well, Aerosmith. I know it's not saying much, but their sounds are great and I'd put this on when I don't know what to listen.

two all time bangers make up for the rest of the album being just pretty decent

Stylistically "Big Ten Inch Record" was jarring both for the lyrics and the sound. It's like someone plunked a Jive song down in the middle of a rock/blues album. Turns out there is a reason it doesn't sound like the rest of the album, it was a cover.

Great album. Toys one of my favorites with No More No More. Don't remember Round and Round but dig it

More variety of sounds on this album that I expected. I came in thinking it would all be like Sweet Emotion and Walk this Way, but it varied quote a bit. Adam's Apple, No More No More and Round and Round were my favorite new discoveries.

7/10 pretty pleasant, has some good songs

7/10. This was so much more enjoyable than Pump.

It’s got some good songs, but I probably won’t listen to it more. 7/10

I appreciate Aerosmith & it certainly seems likely my teenage parents conceived me to this album. My fave tracks here are Adam's Apple & Round & Round!

Great album, "Walk this Way" and "Sweet Emotion" were my favourite songs on the album.

Pretty decent rock n roll. Sweet Emotion clearly the best of the bunch.

"Walk This Way" a classic song that holds up to this day "Sweet Emotion" haven't heard this song before but i really like it so far. Rating: 7/10

Dream on, Dude, cryin', Walk this way

A far better album than I expected much blusier

Aerosmith well known rockers with these classics

Better than expected, several great tunes on here and enjoyable record.

Great album. Every song is solid.

Lower end of a 4. Mostly above average tracks with a couple of belters

some real classics on this one, but i grew up on some of these redone, like Big 10 Inch and Walk This Way... so they sound "right" to me

9/10 i really loved this album some of it got really repetitive but overall it was really good and fun and rock awesom yas 👏

Rock. Bueno

This has some classics on.

Great!

It's a lot nicer than the faggotry that they came up with in the 90s

70's Aerosmith >>>>> 90's Aerosmith

Way better than I actually expected

Classic 70s rock with good riffing particularly on Walk This Way, but throughout. Enjoyable.

Really good album…particularly liked the bluesy songs…two big hits on this album

Not my favorite album of theirs, but it was interesting listening to their first album. Sweet Emotion is also a 10/10 song!

A lot of it sounds the same. Big Ten Inch Record easily the worst track on here. Solos are terrible, except the one to end No More No More. I like the vocals and think they fit the music well. Compared to other Aerosmith I've heard, this is definitely some of the more ambitious stuff from them. The vocals are very badly mixed on Round and Round, it has some great riffs though. Nice outro track in You See Me Crying, a great mix of strings, guitars, piano, and brass. The really cringy vocals around midway degrade the track a bit though.

Pretty good still. Love the songwriting, guitars. Steven Tyler has long been one of my favorite vocalists. It's a classic record but I think only their 2nd or 3rd best. Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way still hold up for me. Round and Round is randomly this heavy sounding song thrown into the record that I always forget about. Uncle Salty bangs too. 7/10

I've known this album for years, but only listened to a few tracks. This time I put the headphones on and listened to it all. Intensely. The well-known tracks are great and sound even better when listening so intensely. Walk this Way and Sweet Emotion are the two songs I knew. The rest were new to me. Toys in the Attic - Great start to the song. What a way to kick off the album. Uncle Salty - Loved it. Adam's Apple. ... She ate it... It was love at first bite! Cool. Walk this way - MEGA-Classic. Big Ten Inch Record - I like the groove! Now whip out your big ten-inch.... record. Sweet Emotion - Classic. Perfect. No More No More - It's alright.... You See Me Crying - I love Rock ballads. Steven Tyler's vulnerable side. Nice, not great, but nice way to end the album. Stand Out Tracks: Walk This Way Sweet Emotion Uncle Salty Big Ten Inch Record

Pretty good. Reminds me of my parent's rock album collection they would play while on a road trip.

Good tune. I only knew the usual suspects but there is some good stuff on this. 4/5

Top shit. Wicked 70s rock and roll.

Good album, all songs were equal 3.5/5

Very good album. Fun to revisit. Ten Inch Record is hilarious. No More No More is a great track. Then, of course, the hits are hits for a reason. Still not perfect though, the last track is particularly weak.

Actually really enjoyed this. Was cool to hear some earlier stuff from Aerosmith, as most of the Aerosmith songs I know came out in the mid-late 80s. Don't know how I feel about this version of Walk This Way. I don't really like the Run DMC version, but there's something about the production of that one that is more exciting than the original.

Surprisingly good!

Some really tasty riffs.

i didn't realize that sweet emotions song came out 45 years ago. That song is ageless. The rest of the album was very good also. I enjoyed it.

Decent, bluesy, early rock n roll style. Walk This Way obv a massive tune. Sweet Emotion was a sick track too. 3/5 easy, maybe a 4 actually.

4.6 great album

4/5 well that was a good one!

Really enjoyed this. ****

hard rock/bluesy Aerosmith is always better than the 90s onward Aerosmith

Solid blues rock, catchy hooks, amazing production. Not a ton to be mad at

generic aerosmith. I don't think I have heard a single song from it before, but it feels like i knew every single one, they all sound the same

I still prefer the 80s ones, but this is great

Really good!

çok iyiydi

Loved this - didn’t know what I’d been missing all this time. Lyrics are a bit oooh, err...!

"Sweet Emotion" Released: May 19, 1975[2] "Walk This Way" Released: August 28, 1975[2] "You See Me Crying" Released: November 11, 1975

good album

Really good album. Enjoy a lot of tracks. Not totally perfect but generally strong. Not a lot wrong with it.

I mean, it has sweet emotion on it, so. . .

A couple classics and a couple of cool songs I didn't know.

Solid album. Probably Aerosmith at its best based on what I’ve heard lmao I’ve heard nothing this is straight out of my butt.

great album

Some of these songs surprised me. There was one that was a little 50s-esque, but I swear it was all sexual innuendo. And it was just generally…not as heavy as I expected.

In their Top 3

Classic rock record, I had never heard big ten inch record before and that has a very different sound from their typical sound. More of 50s blues rock record. The always classic sweet emotion and walk this way are quintessential 70s rock songs. Round and Round has a heavier sound that I didn’t know Aerosmith did I like it

Heerlijk album met de klassiekers "sweet emotions" en "Walk this Way". Hard rock zoals het hoort

Really enjoyed, best Aerosmith album so far

Consistent and full of bangers, rap segments go over much better than expected

I’ve always liked this album, but feel like I’ve grown out of it in the last few years

Absolute banger, I like Aerosmith now

It's Aerosmith and it's a classic Album

Maybe I went into this judging too much. It was a good combination of rock and blues without being overboard. Still not a huge fan of Walk This Way, though.

A lot better than I was expecting. This is pretty raw rock’n’roll with loads going on!!

Number: 175 Date: 6/27/26 Artist: Toys In The Attic Album: Aerosmith Year: 1975 Style: Hard Blues Rock Familiarity: Well Versed (4) Rating: 3 Before: ======= I have Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion ranked 2 and 4 on my favorites of 1975 list. However, the rest of the album doesn't do that much for me. Aerosmith is one of my favorite groups from the 70's playing this particular style of music but I'm not much a fan of this style so that will likely affect my final rating. During: ======= 3 Toys In The Attic 3 Uncle Salty 4 Adam's Apple 5 Walk This Way 4 Big Ten Inch Record 5 Sweet Emotion 3 No More No More 3 Round And Round 2 You See Me Crying ----------------------------------------------------- 3.49 WEIGHTED AVERAGE (accounts for song lengths) After : ======= I guess I have to give it a 3. The 2 hits songs are massive but that's not enough to elevate a whole album, imo. 3 my personal rating 4 suitability for this list 4 impact ----------------------------------------------- 3.7 composite rating

Aerosmith classic

Let’s go. Another record I own. I have such a weird relationship with this band. Some days it hits just right, other days it feels like just any other bar room rock album that cringes me out. I mean let’s be honest nobody’s going to Aerosmith to self reflect or really think about the lyrics. To be fair, the hits do have the best writing by far tho. Toys in the attic is a grimier version of some stones album imo. I think that’s actually what they probably sounded like to most in their debut, and this changes it up a bit but I can still clearly hear the influence. Non sensical horny dudes drunkingly rocking out. Anyways, if you ever need to get brownie points with your girls dad pull this one out, it should work just fine. Favs: you should see me crying, round & round

6.25.26 (oops) Shockingly, I think this is my first Aerosmith album? I really dislike the song 'Big Ten Inch Record' lmaooo. Rest of this is pretty solid, and it obviously has two great songs. I find this to be a nice, easy, and sometimes quite fun listen, though its highs often outshine the rest of the album. Favorite Song: Walk This Way Rating: 3.5/5

While there are a couple of absolute bangers, this album overall was fairly generic.

Truly a 10 inch record

There's some classics on here but it's also like half filler. Pretty good all things considered.

This is what I had in mind when I said I'm losing interest in classic rock. There isn't actually anything wrong with this and it was influential and interesting at the time, but now it feels like pretty standard hard rock There are some good songs and they do everything well enough, but Aerosmith aren't a band I ever want to listen to, not when you have the likes of Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, King Crimson etc as contemporaries Highlights: Sweet Emotion

"And there wasn't a hair on it!"

Pretty standard 70s rock. The hits start the hits but the rest can be left behind. Never really been a huge fan of Aerosmith.

5/10 I'm not sure why, but I was expecting this album to be heavy metal, or at least on that spectrum. Newsflash: it's not. I'm not sure why I thought that either; it's not like Walk This Way is metal. It is frankly average hard rock - no real standout songs or even moments either. Obviously I'm not into this genre, but I do sort of think I'd like the album better with a different vocalist. I feel like Aerosmith had better and more interesting contemporaries, that's all.

I'm still not an Aerosmith fan, I'm still irked when they lean heavily into blues, and they're still pretty average, but Toys In The Attic is a markedly better album than Rocks.

Classic dad rock Favourite Track(s): Walk This Way Least Favourite Track(s): Big Ten Inch Record, Adam's Apple

sweet emotion

More Aerosmith. Feels like punishment for my previous review. It’s still good, not great but good.

Hit and miss but some classic highs. A couple of bad boogie tracks away from 4 stars.

I've listened to a few Aerosmith albums on here already. They don't really capture my attention. This one especially felt like just basic classic rock with a blues flavor, nothing special. It's just okay to me.

Two of Aerosmith's top five songs of all time appear on this album, and they do ALL of the heavy lifting. The rest are not terrible, but they're pretty run of the mill 70s rock songs in my opinion. Would be a 3.5/5, but I can't justify rounding up to 4/5.

Aside from the immensely popular hits, this album doesn't have much else to offer. The A side in particular is weak, with nothing noteworthy aside from Walk This Way. B side is more balanced and overall better, but again feels like all the creative energy was poured into one song before realizing the rest of the runtime needed to be filled. High highs, but a very uneven record. Top tracks: Walk This Way, Sweet Emotion, Round and Round

High 3 but not exciting enough to be a 4

2 good hits but kinda meh

I am generally lukewarm on Aerosmith and this type of hard rock. One of their better albums, but only 3.5 stars

Definitely in an inventive phase when they made this album.

It’s fine. I smoked weed in high school so Sweet Emotion has some nostalgia qualities. People who call this a great album are eligible for Medicare.

Some good riffs a couple of good tunes (walk this way, sweet emotion are classic tracks) a few that just pass me by. If you want a quintessential 70’s rock album you could a lot worse but for me overall it’s solid not exceptional It’s fine. 3.0

Testosterone: The Album

There are just enough tracks I like on this LP that make me see it in a positive light but some of it just feels ok. I like the energy that the band presents but some of the lyrics and compositional choices just are not my cup of tea. Sweet emotion comes to mind as a song I felt started off very well but I ended up not liking to much by the end. In contrast walk this way was something that I really adore just for how much energy it brings. fav tracks: walk this way, uncle salty, round and round, and you see me crying

That was alright. Decent 70s rock. Better than their later stuff. Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion are decent tunes. The 10 inch inuendo song is cringeworthy in this day and age. high threes.

A couple of stone cold classics accompanied by good but not great songs. It's an enjoyable listen, but the deep cuts don't hit the highs of the hits.

I’m of the “Aerosmith = Armageddon soundtrack” generation, so it’s kind of fun to hear when they were… just a band. I enjoy this and wouldn’t skip any of the hits when they come on the radio, but at the same time it all seems a little silly. Glad they get to do their thing, glad there are people who love them, but I’m on to the next.

Good stuff 3

- This is the definition of a solid 3 - Definitely having a good time with it - Sweet Emotion really fucking rocks

Really nice! Especially loved No More No More and You See Me Crying.

Nice album overall, I knew a few of the songs, but it was nice having it in the background while I was doing stuff. Is it Aerosmith's best album - I feel like the answer should be a "no" and that there are definitely better ones, but this was quite enjoyable as well.

This was a much more rockin' album than I was expecting. The 70's version of Aerosmith is almost unrecognizable from the 90's version.

3.25 - It's good, but I took off a 1/2 star for how creepy "10 inch Record" is.

It's still a genetic mystery how steven tyler is responsible for 50% of liv tyler.

Not typically my favourite genre - tend to find a bit samey and a bit naff - this is however a good album quite a bit of variety and good fun

“You See Me Crying” is a tragically awful song to end on.

us rock, no suprises

Good album. Not my favorite.

Iconic album for Aerosmith in their career. Not a fan at the time, but through work I have revisited them with fresh ears.

Thought I liked Aerosmith but revisited Have to think they are one of the most overrated 70s rock bands. Predominantly front and wannabe Stones image with the occasional song, sweet emotion. The lyrics, let’s not get into the fallacy of presentism, as they were always cringe. Was always told this was their classic album and was always left thinking what am I missing? It’s well, ok. Nothing more or less. Just don’t think it’s a strong classic rock album, whether you view it as rock or Dad rock. 3 Star.

Mid album op 2,3 goeie nummers na: 2,5

Good listen. Classic rock and roll

The hits are great, the other songs have a nice sound but are mostly forgettable. Maybe that's the problem with the Black Crowes - they listen too much to Aerosmith and not enough to the Stones. The filler tracks reminded me a lot of the last Black Crowes record I listened to. If I was standing waiting for a concert to start and the sound person was playing this album, I wouldn't be unhappy. but I don't need to hear anything but the hits really.

Fine. Classic rock is classic rock, I don’t know how you could be obsessed with this

Walk this way, sweet emotion och you see me crying bäst.

Classic rock

Three classic songs. Rest ok

Amazing that an album with Walk this Way and Sweet Emotion barely crawls into a 3 but the rest is kinda bleh

они ок, но подустала от вокала что ли… или просто получасовые альбомы слишком мало разнообразия дают

I hate myself for not hating this.

I really like the blues-rock feel. “Sweet Emotion” and “Walk This Way” are absolutely great. The rest of the album is solid, although “Big Ten Inch Record” is definitely a miss.

Perfectly fine Rock and Roll- a good reminder of why it was banned/had so many social objections at the time

Enjoyable but all the same. Liked You See Me Crying, which was new to me

It’s an ok album. Some nice songs. All the outrage against Steven Tyler is warranted. However, I just wish the same people were just as outraged against all the musicians who had sex with underaged groupies back in the day. They tend to stay silent on that.

I had no idea that Aerosmith were a thing in the mid-seventies, and I guess that's due to Run DMC, so this was a learning curve. Interesting, and a bit of a revelation. I recognised a few of the tracks, and in places it hit the mark, so overall I enjoyed it. A solid 6/10, otherwise it has to be on 'buy list', and it's just short of that accolade. Heard before ❌️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ❌️ ★★★☆☆ (6/10) Total reviewed : 283 Already owned : 63 Purchased : 15 To buy : 3 Nope : 202

My Granddad made a farm set complete with wooden animals when we were kids. My Dad found it and brought it down from the attic recently. It has seen better days and probably wouldn't be engaging enough for today's children, much like Aerosmith themselves.

Solid Aerosmith-sound with the hits "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion". But nothing to really spark me.

This is a hit track, not an album. 2 big ones sandwiched by filler. His voice is great, lyrics are lackluster and the pop rock is satisfactory, but not remarkable.

It lost me throughout. It's a fine album, nothing too great. I might come back to a few songs, but not the whole thing. I'm definitely still looking forward to listening to their other albums to see if anything changes. This just didn't hit for me.

Listening to this on the day it was released. I did not realize it had all their bangers. the hits.

There are not many Aerosmith albums for need. Really, it comes down to Rocks and Toys. Some may argue that their later albums are on that list too, but really it comes down to those two. The song Big Ten Inch was a bit too ZZTop-double-entendres for my tastes, but musically it’s a fun song. The real meat of this album is Walk this Way, though I was introduced to the DMC collaboration later, and one of my favorite bass lines Sweet Emotion, which I have very fond memories of opening Lasarium shows with at the planetarium. The vocals aren’t as strong but it is obvious that Aerosmith were hungry to be part of a rock scene that was moving fast. Rocks was a great follow up before the excess kicked in. These two albums define Aerosmith for me!

Random thoughts: * I think it is fair to have Aerosmith on this list. However, I'm not sure 3 albums are necessary. * I did enjoy this one. I've never listened to any Aerosmith album before. I've never owned one either. I know all the hits from all the radio/MTV play. * "Sweet Emotion" might be one of the more underrated 70s rock jams. I really enjoyed listening to this one a few times. I especially related to the line: "my get up and go musta got up and went". * I know this album was popular with Run DMC due to the beats that kicked off the songs, hence the future collaboration with "Walk This Way". Which is a jam on it's own too. * I don't think he was really talking about a record. * Overall solid 70s rocking. Enjoyable especially the hits, not exactly necessary.
